Kara Dhimar stood staring out the window of her home in Sanction. New Sea reflected in her eyes as the waves crashed against the shore. But something was out there...calling, one could say.
The door opened and her roommate, a black robed mage, came in. "Kara, what's wrong? You look like you just saw the Dark Queen."
"I have to go, Tayden. Something's calling me and I have to go," she answered, not taking her eyes from the sea.
"Then I will go with you. It's boring in Sanction. We could have an adventure that would last for years and come home to see what it's like," he replied, standing beside her and putting his arm on her shoulder.
"I must go alone. I thank you for you caring and letting me live with you for the past three years but now I must leave indefinitely." She grabbed the bag on her bed and began to walk out the door when a hand caught her and turned her around.
A surprising thing happened that Kara had never experience because of her unfortunate features. Tayden had kissed her, and it seemed her had been holding it in for a while. After a few minutes, he stopped and let her go.
"Good luck," he said as he turned to look out the window.

Kara went downstairs to the inn they had lived above and sat down for a drink. She didn't want to travel alone and she hoped she might run into some people to go with her.For I am Gul'dan... I am darkness incarnate. I will not be denied.

Mista Kwon stood in the doorway for a moment, the wind whisping her long, jet black hair, her bright blue eyes surveying the room. She was dressed in green and tan leathers, with a long bo attached to her back and a dagger in her belt. She then entered with an air of defiance, as if trying to tempt warriors to try and attack her. . .

. . .however her bo got stuck on the door jamb.

After freeing it awkwardly, she blushed, then tried to hurry to a seat . . .

. . . and tripped, falling (again, akwardly) into Kara's table.

"Sorry 'bout that." She mumbled, removing her bo to in order to sit down (and managing to whack some patrons in the head with it). "Father says I'll grow out of it soon, just a stage . . ." She mumbled again.

Trying to regain her composure, she sighed and straightened her back, called a waitress, and ordered a meal. She then turned to Kara. "Know of anyone needing a warrior? And adventures? Journeys? I'm up for hire if you could tell me who'd need such assistance . . ." She started to look around the bar again, as if trying to predict who Kara would possibly point out."I think our definitions of yelling are different, because when you said I yelled at you , I hadn't thought that I did."

"No, you were yelling."

Mirror

Mirror sat in the corner of the inn, her long white hair becoming like fine strands of silver as the fire light reflected off it. She had kicked off her travelling boots and sat with her small elven frame curled up in a large chair, her feet beneath her. Her silver travelling cloak lay slung over the back of the chair she sat in, and she paused in the study of her spell book to look at the young, inexperienced, and ost unfortunately clumsy warrior wannabe she had ever seen. But she noticed that the girl had a good heart, she could tell by her aura, and that was all one could hope for in a person. She looked at the other woman sitting next to the youngling, and noticed that her aura, as well as her soul, was troubled. She blinked her reflective almond shaped eyes once and made up her mind. She put her boots back on, gathered up her possesions, and the wilder elf made her way over to the table, gently letting her fingers brush over the dove tattoo on her cheek for guidance and strength as she did so.
"I am sorry for intruding," the elven mage said, "but I believe I heard someone mention an adventure?"Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

The former Qualinesti elf looked at both the women that sat at her table. To her surprise, no one flinched at her looks. Most shunned her for her pitch black eyes, white short hair that didn't grow anymore, and grey skin that was as dry as her voice. She forced a smile and spoke to them both. "I am going on an adventure, across the sea. I have no money to hire but if you would like to come, I would be glad of the company." She sat in surprise of her own words. Glad of the company, she thought. That kiss must have knocked a few things loose up there. For I am Gul'dan... I am darkness incarnate. I will not be denied.

Mirror looked at the elven woman, Qualinesti by the looks of her, and saw her inner fears. The fear that everyone was affraid of her because of her physical apperance, the fear that no one would want to be anywhere near her because of this unless she payed them. And most importantly, the fear of being alone. Mirror wondered why this unique elf had never realised that her inner beauty shone through to the outside, making her seem just as, if not more beautiful, than the Queen of the Qualinesti, Laurana herself.
Mirror placed a delicate hand over her new friends. "I do not wish payment! All I am in search of is good company and a new adventure, and I think I have found both!" she said, smiling warmly at the Qualinesti. "I am called Mirror, for obvious reasons that I am sure you have noticed," she said, studying her intently with her reflective optic orbs, "What is your name, and why do you wish to travel over the sea? What are you looking for?"Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

Kara's forced smile turned into a real one by pure insticted. "Ah, a shining star in the dark world, you are Mirror. Though my words may seem a comfort, my journey is not. My name is Kara Dhimar, of the new order of Grathanesti elves. I must travel to Darken Wood, though I don't know exactly why. Something calls me there. If I weren't in control of myself, I would have walked out that door already. A voice is always whispering to me, 'Go quickly. Do not delay.' But I know I can only go so fast. Listen to me. I'm pouring out my innermost thoughts and you hardly even know me," Kara said with a droop of her head.

Mista looked at the two women, both extroidenary . . . No pay, but what would be better than hairing off on an adventure with two elven women? The human girl smiled, then stood, intending to shake Kara's hand but instead catching her foot in the leg of the chair, falling back onto the seat of it, then tipping the chair entirely on it's side and lay in a heap of hair and blushing red cheeks on the tavern floor. She righted herself quickly, then smiled, obviously embarassed, and reached a hand carefully over to Kara.

"Hi, I'm Mista Kwon." She said quietly, adressing both women. "I can handle my bo better than anyone in my village." She also added, quietly, "Don't let my clumsiness fool you, it seems to dissolve once I'm in the right frame of mind." She blushed some more."I think our definitions of yelling are different, because when you said I yelled at you , I hadn't thought that I did."

"No, you were yelling."

I could not walk two steps in front of me without falling over or mortally wounding someone, but I did grow out of it eventually! I have no doubt in my mind that you are indeed and expert bow's woman!"

She turned to Kara. "I have heared of the Grathenesti, but I did not believe that they actually existed. And it does not matter about you pouring out your innermost feelings, I will gladly listen to you if it will help to ease the pain that you feel in your soul. A stifled cough was all that announced the presence of the mage who entered the inn. Clad in black robes, his right hand gripping a wooden staff topped with a skull of platinum. By the way he used his staff, in probing the floor in front of him, it was apparent that he was blind. His eyes would be forever shrouded in darkness, yet by the light cast by the fire of the inn, one could say he has a welcome demeanor. His hair, dark as midnight blue, fell in long straight strands down his back. By his stature one can determine that he was a half-elf.

Upon reaching a seat close to the door, he sat down and waved a hand in the direction of the innkeep.

"Hot water, and a bowl of your seasoned lamb stew..."

The innkeep was a bit startled by how the man identified the day's fare, and surmissed that it must be magic or some other method...

"I could smell the food cooking while I passed. You need not worry, I'm a paying customer..."

And with that, he spread two pieces of fine Krynnish steel on the innkeeps palm. I thought I was alone in the dark... Now, I Know I am Alone In the Dark... Marc

Kara smiled and took the tankard the barkeep gave her. "Indeed. I toast to our coming adventure! Being clumsy is a fact of life, Mista," Kara said after taking a drink of her ale. "You will soon be a great warrior, mark my words." She gave her a wink and returned to drink her ale.

The blind mage that entered brought a sense of curiosity as well as humility to Kara. Nothing was as beautiful as a blind mage being able to do everything a normal person could. "Hmm, I wonder why he's here. Black Robes aren't very popular around here unless they have important business that us ungifted shouldn't know about," she told her companions with a smile. "I used to live above this inn with a Black Robe. He always told me something was going to happen soon, that magic of every color was going to come here and an extraordinary event would take place. I have never seen a black, silver, red, and white all in the same room." She pointed to the Red Robe and White Robe in the corner talking together. "What an odd age the has come upon us."I'm getting over getting used to,

Mirror pondered what Kara had said while draining her tankard. It was a rather boarish trait she had picked up while travelling, and it was widley known and accepted that to challenge Mirror to a drinking contest would leave you lying on the floor under the table in a pool of your own vomit. She also noticed the whistful look in the elf's eyes as she spoke of this black robed mage she used to live with, and could not help but smile. She wiped her mouth with her hand and put her tankard down.
"I have astrange feeling about this mage," she announced to her companions, "though I cannot tell if it is fortunate that he has crossed or paths or not. I shall go speak with him, see why he has travelled here......." she got up and walked over to the black robe. When she was no more than 10 paces from him he snapped his head up and turned his sightless eyes in her direction. She stopped and spoke.
"Forgive me for intruding Master Mage, but I have some questions......" she stopped mid sentence as she felt him probing her mind. She immeadiately put a barrier up, and cursed herself for being so stupid as to believe that a blind mage would be harmless. "But, I think you already know what I was going to ask, do you not Master mage?" she finishedRay: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

A slight smile brushed the lips of the blind mage. After a moment of hesitation, he politely waved the woman to sit opposite of him.

"Greetings warrior. I'm surprised that someone like you would even consider speaking with someone like me." The mage said this in the dialect that the woman would understand. Her own speech!

After a moment of profound silence, he smiled again.

"Don't worry. It's not by any magical means that I determined of what race or profession thou art..." He smiled a charming smile, a deep contrast to his white, glazed over eyes. Whatever light that faded from the eyes has been transfered to the grace the mage held in himself.

"By the way you shifted your legs as you walk, trying to compensate to the unease you wear your armor, the sound of steel a it brushed your side, I deduced that you are a warrior." He smiled shyly after that. " And the way that you spoke the common tongue is similar to that of the Wilder Elves, of whom many I considered as allies. And also, the lightly bitter way the air is scented around you indicates that you've spent much of your time drinking."

He stopped for a moment, listening.

"The way your heart is beating right now is likened to that of someone who meets somebody who reminds them of someone else. That someone was a person who was very dear to you... And you lost him..."

The mage looked at his hands. His hands were far for supple than that of the elves. That is also when everyone else in the room paying attention to the conversation noticed that the mage's skin was of a bluish tinge.

"My name is Lee Moonglow, youngest son of Quiralanthalasa and Kheryll Moonglow of the Irda..."

Mirror sat down opposite the blind mage, feeling a warm sensation in the pit of her stomach, a tinge of excitment moving up her spine.
"Well, Master Moonglow, you were right about a lot of things. I am a warrior, I have a short sword strapped to my side, but I am wearing no armor today. I guess it is just a natural thing about my walk, old habits die hard I suppose you would say. I am also a magic user of the silver robes, but I suppose the smell of the ale over rideed the smell of the spell components hung at my waist. Yes, I am a Kagonesti, and yes, you do remind me of someone very dear to me, someone I lost............." she paused, lost in her own thoughts and memories for a moment.

"But now, about you? I sene that you have travelled far to be here now, and that something has bought you here this night. I am curious to know what it is?" she asked, her voice sounding husky in her own ears, as if she was about to cry. Lee bit the end of his lips, before he can answer the Kagonesti. He smiled, a fairly bitter smile.

"I am just a wanderer, nothing more. I couldn't be anything else. Not since I lost my eyesight in that accursed test..."

And his memories came again to him in a flood...

He warned his siblings not to open the box, but his curiosity overcam him too. They opened it and released a beast that offered them whatever they wanted. But his hunger for power momentarily overcame his sense of duty to his borther and sister...

and he killed them both, slew them in a cowardly manner. He stabbed them both, his brothor Torminius first, and his sister Quirandia, who was paralyzed by the shock of the sight of younger brother stabbing his elder...
He wanted power, he lost control. He killed the two people he loved most, second to his parents. But the cost was great too, to himself. For the beast lied and attacked him with a searing blast of fire. He wove a spell to ward of the effect and it barely saved him. With an instinctual need for preservation, he lashed out with a powerful spell, destroying the monster.
But the blast of fire the creature threw blinded him...

And thus the Conclave judged him to take the Black Robes, robes that he was loathed to touch, loathed to consider. And what truly hurt him more was that his siblings were forced to watch him slay their illusionary forms...

Lee came out of his dark musings, and banished the dark thoughts from his mind....

"I am sorry, Master Lee, but I do not believe that. You have just proved to me that you are just as capable as anyone else in this inn, even without your sight. You seem to have compensated for your loss by honing your other senses, and that is a gift in itself." she made herself comforable in the seat opposite him. She reached out and gently touched his hand. "And don't be sorry, all mages are haunted by our tests...." she paused then, and let her hand linger a moment longer. Suddenly she heard a crash from behind her and knew without looking round that her new friends had decided to join them. "Ah, it looks like the curiosity of myfriends has overwhelmed them," she said, a faint smile on her lips, "I'd like to introduce you to Mista and Kara, though I'msure they will introduce themselves in a moment, once Mista has finished half killing the patrons with her clumsyness" she giggled, and withdrew her hand from his quickly.Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

Tiver thoughts were quickly shaken away by the approach of a traveling bunch that were making haste to the harbor. Tiver smiled a would be smile trying to remember how much he loved to adventure though after that one time things were never the same.

Tiver strapped a holy longsword, Xander once carried, onto his back as he aproached the travelers. "Hello there! You and your companions seem to be in a hurry is there anything I can help you with?" Tiver said readjusting his pouches with a smile. "This here ship is mine, and by the looks of it everyone here seems to be in a rush. Drache sat in a large cabin towards the bow of the ship, pondering her situation and her new companions. It occurred to her that she was endangering these people whom she hardly knew...*I asked. They said I could come.* she thought and that sealed it. But at the very least she owed them an explanation. Leaning forward she tried to convey her seriousness and readiness to talk. It half worked. Mirror watched her expectantly, while Kara kicked Mista to get her attention. Drache took a deep breath and began. "First I'd like to thank you for letting me come along. I will help in any way I can and in exchange I ask that you help me should the need arise. I am...not what i seem. I was cursed by an enemy of mine." She paused and displayed the large medallion around her neck. "I cannot get it off as it robs me of my magic. I don't know if you mages can do anything either for the magic is probably not the kind you are used to dealing with...and if they catch me...well i simply cannot let that happen." She sighed. "Eventually i must face C...my enemy and challenge him. But i do not yet have the means. So for now I shall travel with you. I may not have my magic but i am pretty good with this." She unsheathed two slender scimitars. Each had a gleaming golden blade. One blade was shaped in the likeness of a silver dragon wrapped in gold. The other featured a similar dragon, only this one was blue wrapped in silver. She smiled at the blades swinging each as if to test the obviously perfect balance. Her mood considerable lightened Drache turned to her audience and said cheerfully. "Any questions?"

Tiver opened his mouth as he was about to say something as the sudden rush of the group pushed past them. With out a word Tiver wiped the sweat from his head with a hankerchief he "found" that someone dropped as they walked by. Tiver walked back up to the deck of the ship looking to his men who were ready to be back out to sea.

"Alright men time we head back out to sea! Now, lets get this big chunk of wood moving with the tide so we can catch the wind before night." Tiver yeld out for everyone to hear. With a cheer the men loaded up the rest of the supplies quickly as the other made sure the ship was ready to sail.

Tiver smiled to himself as he felt the air hit him in the face as he climbed his way up to the crow's nest. Looking down he could see everything was now ready to go. "Alright men lets take out into the open sea's, and try to find an adventure of some sort!"

Tiver smiled as the ship made a slow move out to sea as his mind traveled wondering what was to happen. Though, the thought passed his mind was where was this group heading, and what were they running from. With that Tiver slided down a rope to the deck looking for the group to find out what excactly was going on. "If you think these are the sayings of insane mad man, then you've nevered messed with a kender with a cold." - Me

The small cabin was dimly lit though it suited Drache's mood. She faintly heard the kender, Tiver, shouting on the deck and then the ship began to rock. Drache sighed calmed somewhat by the movement as the ship rolled softly on large waves. She wondered why she had told her companions as much as she had and what they thought of her and her problem. The had been strangly quiet after her story and hadn't reacted when she had suddenly felt sick and retired to her room. The sick feeling came over her again and she knew that the black medallion was only partially to blame. She rested her head on the wall and looked through a small porthole at a night full of stars. She heard footsteps on the stairs that she identified as Tiver coming from the main deck. Wearily she wondered if it was worth being a kender just to be happy all the time. Running her hand through her hair, frustrated as all hell, she muttered, "The waiting is the hardest part..."

Mista passed Tiver as she headed above deck. She had just gotten up from a fruitful nap and decided to practice her movements. She stood on the back end of the ship ((suddenly forgot terminology . . .thbbbt)). For a moment, she stood silently, watching the wake and looking out to where the horizon was supposed to be . . .only visible where the moon-painted caps ended and the star-studded sky began. Carefully, she planted her legs shoulder width apart, and took her bo in her left hand, letting it rest on its balance point on her palm. She slowly turns her hand so the bo is resting on her backhand, then pushes it into the air and catches it with the back of her right hand. To anyone watching, she made a sudden move like a cobra and was soon in a dizzying whish of wood and soft slapping of bare feet on wood. Here, all her clumsiness melted away, and it was as if she were the most nimblest of creatures. Her black hair swayed about her, her eyes sparkled. She was quite a different person.

When she felt her practice was over, she stopped, returned her bo to it's back holder, and then turned and descended the stairs . . .

. . .catching her bo on the overhand and tripping to land in a mass of hair and fabric at the bottom. "I think our definitions of yelling are different, because when you said I yelled at you , I hadn't thought that I did."

"No, you were yelling."
