Mertonius
06/21/2001 1:37 AM

The shadowy figure launched another barrage of "Sirion's Death Daggers" towards Mertonius. But this time, the archmagus was ready and the icy daggers disintigrated from the effect of Mertonius's "Incinirator".

Mertonius, is shadowy mace in his hand, stalked forward, keeping his eyes on his opponent. The figure pulled out a golden dagger, keeping the weapon on a level just above his chest.

In a blur of motion, faster than the eye can follow, the two combatants exchanged blows. The fury of the two kept everyone at bay as they watched the deadly dance of parry and thrust, of swing and dodge.

Great rents appeared on Mertonius's robes as his opponents attacks took their toll.

Mertonius went down on one knee, the light extinguished from one of his eyes.

" I will give you victory this time. But the next time, I wouldn't be to lenient..."

At these words, Mertonius faded from the ball room leaving his opponent and Kista...And darkness took his soul and made it it's own, forever trapped in the endless nothingness that is the heart of darkness...

Kista screamed again as mertonius faded from her sight. Slowly, she sank to her knees, her platinum blond hair spilling loose around her, like a curtain of fine silk.

anger and rage had built up inside her, unthinkingly, she stood up and faced the black clad figure. Seeing that her friend was in danger, Kalia ran to Kista's side, crystal armor glittering.

"NO! Kista don't!! you are no match for someone like this..." Kalia pleadedEverybody dies, but only a precious few truely LIVE....

The mysterious Dark Knight returns from his unexplained leave for the past few days.... he returns but in a different form.

A black crystal appears above the party, preparing to attack. "Kalia! You shall be the first to fall and the elven whores shall fall next! Show yourself! I know you're still here... I can sense you."

The dragon swoops down low, breathing a warning flame and clearing his landing spot. A greyish light surrounds the dragon and he turns in the Dark Knight.....the dark.... PRINCE! He pulls out his long sword. All notice the rune markings of magic and few noticed the alloy that it was forged from.... it seemed to be the same alloy as the Dragon Lances were forged!

The Knight turns his head back and notices Autumn. In a low voice "might as well eliminate one as long as she's near." He points the tip of his sword at her... she doesn't seem to notice at that exact moment. "Aclarez zumas istban!" A green flame shoots from the sword at Autumn.

Kalia ran to block the attack on Autumn. "NO!!" she cried as the flame struck her armor. the flame died, deflected by the crystal armor. Kalia stared up at the strange dragon and its rider. "I think that we will take this outside.

with that Kalia, and Kista faded from sight, Luring the shadow dragon and its rider.

once outside above the forest of Wayreth, Kalia was in her Crystal Dragon form, with Kista on her back, wearing her own Crystal armor, weilding a crystal and platinum lance...a special Dragon Lance.

With a roar of rage she awaited the creature of evil to show himself.Everybody dies, but only a precious few truely LIVE....

Mirror heard the rider of the strange dragon call all elven women whores. She let go of Justin and turned towards him, her reflective eyes glittering dangerously, her hair beginning to stand up from the static that was flowing all about her. Small bolts of lightning began to dance between her fingertips as she advanced on the shadow dragon. "No one calls me a whore, you got that!" she yelled furiouslt at him.Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

The cloaked figure suddenly appeared beside Kista.

He was actually shielding her from the Dark Knight's Attack!!!

The figure made a few gestures into the air and he shimmered, slowly, then rapidly.

A great silvery flash went up the sky as the figure's clothing were suddenly rent apart by his transformation!

The figure is no longer there, and in its place was a huge dragon.

The dragon's silvery sheen was brighter than that of a silver dragon. It rapidly took to the air and with an outstreched claw, ripped into the Dark Knight's mount. The silvery dragon watched as his foe toppled from the air...And darkness took his soul and made it it's own, forever trapped in the endless nothingness that is the heart of darkness...

Autumn fell to the ground after Kalia pushed her. She rolled and got back to her feet. She jumped high into the air and came down with her sword. She buckled the belt around her waist and unsheathed her sword. "Thanks, Kalia. We should dispose of this VERMIN before such a commotion arises." She stepped beside Kalia and stood her ground.

Justin's head jerked up and his eyes flared with an eerie light. He stepped in front of Mirror and spoke, "M'lady, I would prefer to fight for your honor than to stand aside watching you be depleted of energy. Let me handle this." He took a stance beside the others.

ooc: hey, if you are gonna start something be around to finish it. I'm tired of wrapping up your crap. It's not the game you play but the how you play it.

Wynter's head went down. "He just doesn't give up." She stood her ground with Tiver, still amazed by the dance he just showed her.

Kyron her the world around her. She ignored it. She only wanted to be with Xander and was tired of the fighting world. This was her night to forget the world outside and she intended to do so.

Runestar took a stance beside Autumn. "I'm not gonna let you fight without me."

Katie looked around at the whole world around her. "Yo, we need some fighting music. Put the MK soundtrack on, number 5. Isn't that the one where Lui Kang fights Reptile? It would be perfect." Beth nodded and began to mix the cds."..Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can. Pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. Tiver stood next to Wynter as he watched what was taking place, "You know thats what I call holding a grudge." Tiver just smiled to Wynter as he saw Aldra with his head bouncing to the music.

Xander's eyes flashed with the fire of battle as his armor and sword called silently to him. Though, one look in Kyron's eyes told him that now was not the time. With the death of his foe, the Mercury Dragon slowly descended upon one of the open balconies, his form shifting before Kista and Kalia.

"Forgive me for intruding with you early this evening..."

The man was of slight built, and long silvery white hair flowed down his back, a contrast to his black suit and cloak.

"Again, I sincerely apologize in attacking Mertonius. It is my sworn duty to hunt down that accursed lich."

With an elegant bow, he smiled at the two.

((OOC: Mind if I join? I read through all this and I dunno if Tiver is going to come back but...I can't resist.))

She was late, though that hardly mattered, she though bitterly. It wasn't like she had someone to meet...

She stepped up the stairs that lead to the great hall and stopped, letting her liquid silver eyes feast on the colors of the dancing couples. She sighed and started to touch her obsidian hair, then stopped. It was styled today and curled in gentle waves, framing her face. On one side it was clipped back, revealing a delicately pointed ear.

Her dress was of a blue flame pattern and fell just off her shoulders, showing silky skin. It flowed behind her as a bit of lace caught in a breeze and left a small trail of cerulean motes.

She felt naked without her robes and sword, but they were hardly appropriate for a ball...besides, the grace of the dancers was reminding her of her own graceful heritage and her movements turned as smooth and deliberate as molten silver...

Seeing her standing in the doorway, one of the servers approached. "May I ask you name, Lady? Perhaps I can introduce you to some of our patrons..."

She blinked and then smiled. "Of course...I am the Lady Starlite."

The servant blinked. "L-l-lady Starlight? Of course, pardon me. Right this way."

Confused, Ku Y'leh Starlite followed the man through the crowd. Directly in their path was a giant kender...

Seeing the knight ask the Lady Starlight to dance made the server very nervous. He bowed quickly to Javert and spoke, his voice quivering.

"M-m-m-m'lord! This is the L-l-lady Starlight! The...the...he is waiting...the p-p-rince is..."

"I'd love to dance!" Ku Y'leh exclaimed grandly, cutting off the man and giving Javert a dazzling smile. She had to get away from this psycho waiter...

Taking the knight's hand, she walked--nervously--with him out onto the dance floor. It had been forever since she had last danced a proper dance and now with a stranger...though he knew her name and he wasn't all that bad looking, she thought deviously...

Giving a more subtle smile now, and thus a more genuine one, she put her hand in his and began to dance slowly. Her grace returned to her despite years of hard traveling and she felt her body move perfectly with the beat of both the music and her partner... Kalia stood in the corner of the room, her long silver dress shimmering in the low light. She sighed happy that others had found their happiness this night...

Suddenly an odd wave of power washed over her. she turned only to lock her golden eyes onto a pair of dark Amber ones. Navare walked into the main ball room, his eyes locked onto her.

"M'lady...." he murmered as he bowed to her. Kalia stepped back away from him. His long dark hair fell back from his face to tie at the nape of his neck with a black cord. His black crystal scale mail shimmered darkly in the light. He caught her hand and a Kalia felt faint.

He led her out to the center of the dance floor, and held her close She rested her head on his shoulder, tears forming in her gentle gold eyes. The music swept her from her fears. his firm hold on her swept away her terror.

He whispered softly into her ear. "We are ment for each other...without me, our race will die..." Kalia clung to him, and sobbed silently. His power, his finesse, his gentle voice all threatened to drown her in her fear and uncertanty.

Cai'de watched Thorn carefully, he seemed really nervous about something . . .

The dance ended as Stacey walked across the room. Javert bowed to Ku Y'leh and turned to face Stacey. As she looked up into his eyes, she saw the change that had come over him since a year ago when they had met.

The eyes, which had before always held so much sorrow and yet such fierce determination, were at peace. They glowed kindly, with a warmth that had been lacking before. And yet, deep in the back of them, there was still a hint of loss, of something which could never be replaced.

"Your journey?" Stacey began to ask.

"Is ended." Javert finished. "I have confronted Baliol, and my inner demons as well. My life is complete now. Or, is it just starting? My entire life was dedicated to a single goal, and now I must find a new reason to go on."

Linearos walked into the ballroom, breathless and exhausted.
He'd been running errands for the Forestmaster, and had just found out about the ball, asking her to give him leave for the rest of the night.
Falling into a seat at a table somewhere around the middle, he spotted Stacey and Javert, two people he had journeyed with, but was too tired to get up and say hello to them.
His purple eyes scanned at the outfit he wore. A sapphire tunic glowed softly, and his purple eyes reflected the blue tunic, giving them an eerie swirl of purple and blue.
Closing his eyes and relaxing, he heard a rustle nearby and when he turned his head toward the sound, his eyes widened when he saw a beautiful maiden staring at him with piercing silver eyes and a silver dress to match. She wore a pendant He realized he had just intruded upon her table and leapt up.

"Drink this, it will wake you up a little and give you some energy." She told him smiling.

Her large silver almond-shaped eyes shown brightly now that there was someone to talk to. Her teeth were pearly-white and her smile had a way of charming anyone she cast it on. ((OOC: Wow, only a year after...))

Stacey smiled softly at Javert, meeting his gaze and feeling its warmth flow over her as a ray of starlight. "I am happy that you have confronted your demons...but I must confess that I do not see your dilemna. Your life is neither at its begining nor at its end...to live, that is reason enough to go on."

Still smiling, the young human ran a slender hand through her hair and gazed at the ceiling, her eyes taking on a far-off quality and a look of longing and fond memory as she thought of the past. Her past was constant, she had found--there was no escape from constant comparison, however she had learned to love and live with it. "I find this akin to the arguement I used to use in the debate over suscide...there are many hopeless people back home...and I have never understood how one can ignore all the possibilities that exist to pass into oblivian...excuse me if I am wrong, but it almost sounds as if you are thinking of giving up on life...and yourself."

Bringing herself back to the present, the mage looked hard at Javert, as if she could read his soul with her gaze. It occured to her that they had shared something--a quest, a purpose--that might be commonplace here, but was entirely new to her...yet, how well did she truely know him? Was she showing off her ignorance? It wouldn't be the first time...

Turning away, a slight reddish tint coming to her checks, Stacey spotted another familiar face...a person she both wanted to hug and punch. "Hm...there's Linearos..." she muttered. "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and

"May I ask of the kind of magic you use, Lady Airiana? You certainly have the art, but it is not of the three orders. Are you perhaps an Irda?"

Quickly his right hand leapt into his pocket and withdrew and gold flask, using a simple cantrip the lid spun off and hovered in the air. Tilting the container over a bowl of sweet berry smelling liquid he began pouring the flasks contents.
Golden liquid fell from the flask and mixed with the red liquid a scent of spirits lifted from the bowl telling Furanthas that was enough. Returning the cap to the flask he placed it once again inside his robes, once more looking around with a paranoid expression.

Buckling his swordbelt and ornamental sword more securely, he laughed and made his way to his two friends. As soon as he was within reach, Stacey seemed to consider, then punched him on his shoulder.

Rubbing the place she had hit him, he laughed and said, "Luni shines upon you brightly my friend! Red robes without a test and a planar travellor, you have much to live up to!" Looking at her over again, he said, "You've grown!...Of course you have!" he laughed and said, "Humans age so quickly!"
Then he faced Javert and studied him for a split second, which was all he needed.

Linearos had never known this man, though he had known turmoil in his heart, by reading his eyes. Just as he did now, and found that the turmoil had lessened though it had not disappeared.

"Your life's burden seems to have been slightly taken away from you...though not all..." he said solemnly. "I wish you luck for the future, and hope that your burden be exchanged by happiness.""Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

(OOC: Hmm, that could be a wonderful solution to the problem. Ok, the actual years of my timeline might be changing now, but everything can fit. Perhaps Stacey talked to Timesplit after she learned to travel through time, and he sent her back to help out with the annoyed thread. I can make this work now! Relative times won't change much, just starting year. )

"Thank you Linearos." Javert said. "But the burden I carry now is far different from a year ago. I no longer carry the vengence my family required, only the sorrow of what my sister had to go through waiting for me." The look on his face warned any looking at him that this matter was still too recent for him to talk about. "But what of you? OOC: Party did someone say PARTY? WAHOOOO!!! Wait we are already at the party! Anyways.

BIC:

Furanthas could see the answer in her eyes, he could feel her heart race through her hand.
Those almond eyes luring him to come closer, her supple red lips parting slightly in anticipation.

His eyes changed to an emerald with a slight ring of icy blue, as he moved closer, his lips only a few centimetres from hers.

When their lips touched it was like an electric shock, bolts of passion and love striking everyone of Furys nerves.
Moving his left hand to her neck he gently pulled her closer, his right mixing his fingers between hers in a lovers hold.
Her lips moved in perfect rythm with his as they embraced each other tightly.
Her lips were sweet as any necter and he drank deeply from them, a fire of passion began coursing through his veins.
Feeling the fire spreading Fury kissed her once more deep and long before slowly moving away.

Opening his eyes once again he saw Ku Y'leh... the women who now held his heart in her hand.
Beautiful and delicate yet with a strength only the bravest dare test.
He held her hand and thought to himself how perfect the world would be if he could hold her for ever.
To quest with her, battle with her......cry with her.

Furanthas smiled softly his eyes reflecting the soft light of the room, he could barely control the fire that burned him from inside.
He longed to lay with her and sleep with her, sleep that would bring dreams of their love, an eternity of adventure and passion........

"M'lady.....you have stolen my heart."Fury said this with a seductive smile, and a tone of joy.Tis better to have loved and lost.

((OOC: Waaaiiit. You sent me and Fury to a seperate room? What for? We had the shield thing going! I didn't wanna leave...

Thistle, I can't wait to see that timeline!))

Stacey threw a punch at Linearos as he joined her and Javert and then grinned at the elf. He greeted her and the knight and the two guys started talking.

Stacey found herself studying Linearos with a quiet intensity. He was right, she realized. She was older, nearly 20 now, and she guessed she looked older too...

The mage sighed. She was out of the timeline, a year after she had first found herself on Krynn and yet almost 4 years of her life had passed. She knew that she and Linearos had quested together since now...but he didn't know that. She laughed softly. Thinking about time travel always gave her headaches.

She knew, sort of, that she shouldn't have come. Her other self was here, currently completing the test that Luni had set out for her. But Timesplit had recommended that she come...so she had. Simple as that, right?

She distantly heard Javert ask how the elf's service to the Forestmaster was going and pulled herself back to the conversation, smacking Linearos playfully in the arm again. "Yes, what have you been doing with yourself?"

Kalia's eyes where unfocused as she danced with Navare, his eyes where fixed intently on her. He smiled as he leaned in closer to kiss her. Abruptly, her eyes refocused and she pulled back, only to slap him as hard as she could.

Navare caught her hand and tightened his grip. She winced in pain as his strong grip ground her bones together. He brought his own hand back to strike her across the cheek. "No one dares to do that to me...not even you!" he hissed as she slumped to the floor, dazed. It takes a Heart of Steel

Cai'de turned from Thorn at the commotion caused by Navare and Kalia. Kalia, one of her closest friends . . . Without really realizing what she was doing, Cai'de gathered more clouds in one motion than she ever had before, and with a blaze of light a bolt struck down through the cieling and marked the floor between Cai'de and Navare.

"Let go of her this instant!" She yelled, closing the distance between them with furious strides. She didn't know what she was going to do, what she could do, alone against this man, but she knew she had to do something. She positioned herself awkwardly between Kalia and Navare, despite the fact that he still had a hold on her. "Let go now." She said, slowly and deliberately. She concentrated everything on his thoughts; if anything was running through his mind, she would know. Stacey stared at Cai'de, impressed. She didn't understand how any mage could make lightning--or stormclouds for that matter--without knowing how they worked...

Muttering, the mage helped those clouds along, pushing electrons to the top of them, making more powerful lightning more likely to jump from the clouds to the ground without any effort on Cai'de's part, though she would still direct the bolts.

Leaving Javert and Linearos--who were both standing by now--at the table, the mage walked up quietly behind Cai'de; giving the other mage the spotlight, but waving her titanium sword in Navare's vision anyway, her chocolate eyes cleary stating she would back the insistance that he let Kalia go.

Navare smirked at the group, and then pulled Kalia to her feet. He kissed her then, his eyes locked onto hers. Kalia pushed against him for a moment, then he relesed her.

He held her hand for a moment longer, then relesed it. He turned and bowed mockingly at the little crowd that had gathered. "Forgive me for crashing your lovely party...I would love to stay...but I have some pressing matters to attend to." He smirked and suddenly faded from sight.

Kalia stood unsteadilly. She looked down to the hand that he had held before he relesed her. She gasped as she saw a ring of crystal on her finger. The crystal was beautifully cut and polished, and clear as water, two kinds of crystal really, one clear as water, and the cuts in it winked like stars, and the other, was deep smokey black. They intwined around each other and fitted her finger perfectly.

She tried to remove it, but it wouldn't budge. Suddenly His voice rang through the hall. Eternity, Love.....

((OOC: Off with her head! Er...finger! Off with her finger!!

That's not Frodo from LotR is it? *covers her ears* I haven't finished the 3rd book yet!! Ahhhhh!))

Stacey walked over to Cai'de and Kalia, watching the human look at her ring for as long as patience allowed. Reaching over she held the other's hand, examining the ring. It was obviously magical and very powerful. She could feel the "tripwire" in it, and wasn't about to attempt to take it off with magic as that would probably bring the whole finger off.

She looked up at Kalia, laughter in her eyes. "Want it off?" she asked holding up her titantium sword. Kalia's eyes widened and Stacey smiled to show she was joking.

She looked back at the ring. It was beautifully crafted, the intertwining halves in perfect harmony...had she seen this ring anywhere else she would have aquired it at once. "You may not like the guy, but at least he has good taste..." she muttered, the glittering gems reflecting in her chocolate eyes.

Kalia looked down at the ring, and smiled wearily. She sighed as she realized that part of the ring vibrated with her own magic...that the clear crystal was once one of her own scales!

She stared at the ring for a few more moments...then shook her head. "No...don't remove it...I don't think it would work anyway..." she turned, tears shimmering in her golden eyes.

"Forgive me..." she murmered, and ran towards the nearest balcony, where she clung to the railing, her shoulders wracked with sobs.Oh, Moons of Mercy, Moons of Light

Cai'de watched Kalia, heartbroken in knowing there really wasn't anything she could do. Slowly, as the clouds disappated, she approcahed Thorn and leaned into him, so much more grateful for what she had.

A soft breeze whispered through her obsidian hair, sweet as his breath upon her check. They touched with fiery passion, and her spirit soared on the wings of love, pure and unbridled. Their lifebeats mingled with the beat of emerald feathers, rustling through a perfect sky of icy blue...

She felt his tender touch on the back of her neck, sending shivers of ecstasy down her spine as he pulled her closer, his strong grip entwining with her yielding fingers. She gazed into the depths of his jeweled orbs, lost in their color and meaning...lost and not wanting to be found.

She felt the sweet pressure of his lips on hers and a longing for more as a hunger for his embrace permeated her entire being. The stars swam between them on an updraft, sailing through a sky solely theirs, and she watched in reverence and awe as the phoenix star, her own lifeblood, united silver and emerald in an eternal dance of waking dreams and fantasy...

They parted reluctantly, but the perfection remained, a bond never to be broken. He murmured softly in her ear about his heart having been stolen, himself stealing once last kiss before pulling away. She immediately missed his warmth and the world outside looked far and gray...a forbidding place if he should ever stop being a part of it.

"It seems," she whispered back. "that if I have taken your heart, it is only fair that you receive mine in return..."

She returned his seductive smile with a subtle, and naughty, suggestion that shone in liquid silver eyes and a soft laughter.

Her eyes spoke clearly of her intentions and Fury smiled. He felt the fire in his soul begin to burn brighter, its red glow changing to a silver and green light.
No uncontrollable urges ordered him, only his heart was in control.
Passion like that spoken of by warriors and the greatest sorcerers was rivaled by his, a passion for this women.
The distance between them was an unholy gap, pictured in his mind.
He stared deeply into her eyes and saw she felt the same, a smile of pure happiness creased his mouth.

" In my hands your heart will forever feel safe. I swear upon all my honor M'lady. Many a journey we shall have, guided by our hearts love. In that love we will grow together, hand in hand, intwined forever."His emerald eyes spoke of his passion without masking it.

Moving once again closer to her Furanthas kissed her softly reveling in her sweetness. His muscles tensed as he gripped her in his arms, her soft body pressed hard against his.
He could feel her heart beat quicken, her lips warm and he knew she shared his longing.Tis better to have loved and lost.
