Yo!

I'm back, and I want to start up a nice new Forgotten Realms RP.

I'm not going to give storyline info and as I've got various different ideas which will vary depending on participating characters. This is Forgotten Realms, you know the drill.

I'm looking for type medium level characters of the standard FR characters classes and races.

Any takers?

(Also don't worry if your Forgotten Realms knowledge isn't up to scratch, mine isn't either, but we don our best.) ;)

Lead on, MacDuff- once more unto the Breach, and all that ;)

Give me a slightly more specific idea of what medium level means and I'll get to work.
Might de-scale my Duskblade...

Ha ha, great stuff! :)

Yeah, sorry, I just meant averagely powered characters. Usually I'm a stickler for starting off as level 1 equivalent, but I'm meant you have a bit more beef about you if you like. But not too much, lol.

I'm interested, just gotta think of what type of char I'd want.

Good to hear it Stoic my man!

Come on we still need more participants though otherwise we'll be heading into oblivion before we even begin...

Quality over quantity, my good man!

I'm having trouble deciding on a class- torn between arcane and divine magic. Any preferences/hints/suggestions?

Quality over quantity, my good man!

True, but that didn't exactly help in my last RP outing. Or the one before. Or the one before that... lol

Arcane or divine? Mage or Cleric? Only you can decide... :)

Good threads never die...they just fade away to the shadows, until someone revives them. Ask nanuk, I'm pretty decent about pestering others in threads to keep them alive. For the most part. Kinda. Lol :)

I figure I'll probably go for an elven ranger type. Any particular type of elf you'd prefer (sylvan, grey, etc)? I'm not looking to be a Drizzt doppelganger and go drow.

Or into the RPGC Archives.

There are some good ideas lurking in there if anyone ever takes the time to look.

No preference from me buddy, I think we should be able to work with either.

Sylvan elf would make sense, being a ranger out in the woods so much. Decent with swords, prefers to use a bow. Though initially mistrusting of others, has a "live and let live" outlook until the woods is threatened.

Ha, here I go, and there's not even a char sheet posted yet.

How many people were you wanting before we kicked this shindig off?

I all so have no idea, what the Forgotten Realm is all about.

Have you never read any of the books? You know, Salvatore, Drizzt ect, or played any FR based games such as Icewind Dale, Baldurs Gate or Neverwinter Nights? Any one of those things alone should give you a good enough picture of the world for us to be able to work with. Though I fear without any previous knowledge at all you might struggle a bit too much.

It would be a pleasure as always to have you aboard Max.

Well even playing Neverwinter Nights a little will at least give you some idea.

Why don't you hang around and see if this thing gets off the ground?

That way you can take a look at how we are doing things and make a better decision on whether or not you will cope.

[url:http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page]Here is a link to a decent page for stuff about the Realms. Yes, it's a wiki. lol

I'm not saying to spend the next 3 days reading everything on there - I would suggest perusing the Geography, learning of the four main continents, and perhaps a few of the more well-known regions such as Calimshan, Sword Coast, Thay. Once you have an idea of what kind of character you would like to make, I could also assist you in finding an area in which your character might fit - or not fit, if you want a renegade.

I would also suggest reading a little bit about the recent history of the Realms, at least back to the Time of Troubles, and perhaps a bit of how magic works, particularly if you want to play a magic-user. If you don't plan on using magic, you don't have to know how it works. After all, most people on Aber-Toril don't. :)

Now...Flark...I actually have a bit of inspiration...I'm thinking of actually making a Bard. I don't usually make them, as they're one of my least favorite classes, but I have an idea. I'll wait to see what you come up with for a plot first, though. :P

Crikes Max, I figure that'll rule me out too, lol. ;)

I've always wanted to play a Bard, but knowing my own limitations I tend to steer well clear. If you think you've got what it takes to do even a half decent job then that would be awesome. There's nothing better than having a good bard around! :)

Hooray! You live!

I'm thinking of actually making a Bard.

That's bizarre, because even though it's a class I also dislike I considered last night playing one. Thought better of it, though ;)

May go spellcaster- I'm leaning towards sorcerer, though I will most likely change my mind.

Lol...Great minds. :D

Yes, I live, albeit barely. ;) I have to drive back tomorrow morning and then go to work, and then I have work Friday, so either Friday night or Saturday evening I'll be able to get on and catch up. I have an audition/interview Saturday morning/afternoon, so we'll see what comes of that. :D

Anyways, here's another of my empty promises to catch up by a certain time. Lord only knows why you people put up with me... :D

With help from my good buddy Jack and his cousin Jim. They help me deal with alot of people on here... nanuk being the one main exception. She's always good for a laugh or dose of brutal honesty. ;)

... I'd say I feel touched but the ;) has me worried.

Also the fact that you've been jonesing the whiskey is somewhat annoying considering all the complaining I've done lately!

I put up with you because I'm fantastic- and also fadfulangach, as we say (long suffering) :P

That, and I'm now used to te fact tat you have a ridiculously busy life...

I threw that on there cause I like brutal honesty, and you're one of the few females who has no problem giving it.

As for jonesing the whiskey, you never asked. :P

Hmm...32 smilies to make a line across a post without stretching it...now you know I'm bored.

I don't know what kind of women you know, but the ones I know have no problem giving 'brutal honesty' or even 'brutal dishonesty'.

lol

Well I would have been hounding players for character sheets by now, but for the benefit of Stoic who seems to be the only one not involved in both threads - you might want to check out the [url:http://www.rpgconsortium.com/forums/discussions.cfm?forumid=80&topicid=321817]"Multiplayer Baldurs Gate or Icewind Dale anyone?" for a heads up on the current situation.

Ach...that throws a small kink into the whole plan. Hope you get things worked out, I'm interested in this one.

Max
11/02/2007 1:56 PM

Well, as soon as Flark sends me a message with what he had planned, I may be able to help get the ball rolling. I can't take it on by myself, though, Flark, so it'll have to be a joint effort.

Flark
11/02/2007 2:54 PM

Max you poor misguided soul, when has the Flark ever worked out plans before taking on an RP. ;)

No seriously I have an unnatural knack of interweaving stories without ever really needing to come up with a grand plot idea. I figured I've dabbled in the Forgotten Realms department enough to be to come up with some twisting plots simply going off the snippets information you guys were going to provide in your char sheets. That's how I always did it back in the days of my table top D&D Dungeon Mastering.

In laymen's terms I have no information to provide as of yet. :D

Good damn I've just hyped myself so much I figure I shouldn't be having this problem, lol.

Hi guys, sorry i was not on for a few day, and im pretty down in the dumps, right about now, just lost my girl. :-< Well at less i have not lost me friend. Any why, i don't know exactly how im going to make my character, tow i have a good idea. "not very creative" but i think it will work, so just tell me when and where and il be there.

Hi ascan, sorry to hear about your girl, that's always going to put you on a downer.

I'm afraid the news here isn't too great either. From my own perspective here as potential DM I've had to put this RP on hold for the moment. I am more than happy for any one of you guys to make use of the pooled interest and start this thing up yourselves though.

I'd love to partake in a good FR thread...but I don't think I can GM one on my own. As much as I want to get FR up and running again, I'd like to start this idea that nanuk and I are working on, if we can ever find the time of day to talk again.
