Well, back by popular demand, comes the next chapter in the Marvel Civil War RP series. This is Marvel Civil War: Legions, sequel to Marvel Civil War: Identity. If you have read the RP Identity, then your up to date with what the Marvel Civil war is, but for a quick reminder.

The New Warriors members (Night Thrasher, Namorita, Speedball, and Microbe) battle a group of villains (Cobalt Man, Speedfreek, Coldheart, Nitro) in Stamford, Connecticut while filming a reality television show. Nitro explodes, killing more than 600 people (including school children and all of the New Warriors except Speedball). The rest of the superheroes appear in Stamford to search for survivors.

Public opinion turns against superhumans. Even the inactive members of the New Warriors are branded as "baby killers". Hindsight Lad (desperate to distance himself from the team) releases their secret identities online, and several are attacked (The She-Hulk shuts down the site, and Hindsight Lad is arrested by John Jameson). Angry civilians attack the Human Torch outside of a club.

Guided by Iron Man, Congress quickly passes the Superhuman Registration Act [4] (SHRA), 6 U.S.C. ยง 558, requiring the registration of all persons with superhuman abilities with the U.S. government, and the enlistment and training of those wishing to operate as superheroes. The law applies to those with naturally-occurring superhuman abilities, those with abilities acquired through science or magic (including extraterrestrials and gods), and non-super powered humans using exotic technology, (such as Iron Man). Enactment of the federal law led to revisions of state criminal codes (such as Chapter 40, Article 120, Section 120 of the New York Penal Code, and Section 245(d) of the California Penal Code). [5]

Captain America refuses to join a S.H.I.E.L.D. strike force hunting superhumans in violation of the act, and is attacked by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s "Cape-Killers", even though the Act has not been passed yet. Afterwards, he becomes a fugitive and forms an underground resistance movement calling itself the "Secret Avengers". This team includes Hercules, Falcon, Danny Rand (who is acting as Daredevil),[6] Luke Cage and the Young Avengers.[7][6] Iron Man, Reed Richards, Henry Pym, and the She-Hulk come down in favor of the Act. Spider-Man unmasks at a press conference as a show of support for the Act.[6] Doctor Strange wants no part of the Act and tells Iron Man and Mister Fantastic that they are never to call on him again (The government declares Doctor Strange exempt from the Act).

The government-backed heroes track down unregistered superhumans and subsequently detain or register them. Captain America's Secret Avengers are public enemies. The Secret Avengers operate out of a series of secret safe houses set up by Nick Fury. Cap's team continues to apprehend supervillains (usually leaving them bound for the authorities), and launches a series of well-coordinated attacks on prison transports carrying captured superhumans. During one such raid, a convoy is diverted onto Yancy Street, a hotbed of civilian opposition to the Act. The Thing, who was only visiting the old neighborhood, gets roped into crowd control. However, when a young member of the Yancy Street Gang is killed in the violence that ensues, Grimm, disgusted with both sides, leaves the country for France.

The Secret Avengers, responding to a false emergency, are lured into an ambush by the pro-registration forces. As the battle turns against them, a new weapon is brought into play: Project Lightning, Thor (This is not actually Thor, but rather a cyborg clone created from a few strands of Thor's hair and empowered by a technological copy of Mjolnir). Confronted by Bill Foster, Thor sends a bolt of lightning through the hero's chest, killing him. With both sides in shock, Cap orders a retreat. Sue Storm shelters the re-grouping Secret Avengers under an energy shield, allowing their escape.

Bill Foster's death shakes up both sides: Stature and Nighthawk surrender and register, while the Human Torch and Invisible Woman oppose the act. In turn, Pym drafts a sub-group of the Thunderbolts to their cause.[8]

Spider-Man demands to see the concentration camp-styled prison facilities "42" in the Negative Zone [9]. He concludes that he has made a mistake by siding with Stark. Peter attempts to defect from Iron Man's side but is confronted by Iron Man and after a brief battle, Spider-Man escapes. Against Iron Man's will, he is hunted down and badly beaten by the Jester and Jack O'Lantern of the new Thunderbolts. The Punisher saves Spider-Man by killing the two villains, and carries him to a Secret Avengers safe-house. After recovering from his injuries, Spider-Man joins Cap's forces[8], and makes a public statement in which he pledges to fight the registration Act.

The Punisher seeks to join Captain America's forces, pointing out that Iron Man's decision to employ infamous mass murderers as enforcers of the Act is what has motivated the vigilante to come out of hiding, although crime is at an all time low as a result of the registered heroes. Captain America reluctantly accepts Punisher's offer of help.

As the Punisher makes his way through the Baxter Building to retrieve plans for the Negative Zone prison, Sue Richards travels to Atlantis to persuade Namor to join the Secret Avengers: he refuses. The supervillains Goldbug and Plunderer arrive at the Secret Avengers' base to join Captain America's team, but the Punisher immediately kills them, leading Captain America to attack him and kick him out of the group.

The Secret Avengers (along with Storm and Black Panther) break into the Negative Zone prison, where Hulkling, who has been disguised as Hank Pym, releases the imprisoned heroes from their cells to join the fight.[10]

While meditating, Doctor Strange speaks with Uatu the Watcher, who asks him why he doesn't use his immense power to end the conflict. Doctor Strange informs Uatu that the Sorcerer Supreme has no business in mankind's internal struggles, but promises to pray for an outcome that will benefit mankind and spill the least amount of blood.

As the final battle begins Cloak teleports the combatants to New York City, where Namor and an army of Atlanteans arrive to fight alongside the Secret Avengers; the Champions, the Thor clone, and Captain Marvel reinforce Stark's team. Mister Fantastic saves Invisible Woman from a bullet launched by Taskmaster, and Hercules destroys the Thor clone. The Thing returns to protect the citizens from harm of the battle. As Captain America is about to deliver a final blow to Iron Man, policemen, EMTs, and firefighters try to restrain him. Realizing how much damage the fight has already inflicted upon the very people he wishes to protect, Captain America surrenders and orders his team to stand down.

__________________________________________________________________________

The act has been established and the heroes have taken sides. Legions are being formed and war is on the brink. Both groups, pro and anti, are after the super gene (a mysterious hero who's powers are uncontrollably dangerous) If the hero is in one's hands then that Legion would win the battle. You will create a hero or if you were previously in Identity, take your character into the act a year after the introduction.

So we can play for both sides? Or only one? :)
And what power are forbidden? Or there aren't any? :)

well if you have read or checked up on the old RP that basically just ended, you could support either side. Make your character unique, and hell he/she doesn't have to be a hero at all. As for powers, keep them within reason. We don't want any supermans here, and you have to have a legit weakness.

Time-line wise, when is this set compared to Identity? Directly after or a bit of a gap?

I have, like... 17? rps I'm involved in at the mo, lol, so I'll have to see :)

Nanuk! lol, it's set a year after Identity. Basically, the whole Marvel world is in jumbles, and Stark has officially taken over S.H.I.E.L.D

Basically Jay's old monarch character is missing, but she is the treasure that everyone wants. The Anti reg want her as a weapon to put an end to this slavery and the Pro reg want her for protection and research.

Hopefully you can consider joining Nanuk, I want the old crew back minus Jay.

Maybe anyone can give me link to Marvel Civil War: Identity? :)
I can't find it :(

EDIT: I found it, sorry *blush*

Sorry for double post :)
I readed half of Marvel Civil War: Identity and i really enjoyed it so i would like to join this one :)
But i want to ask one questions. It's stupid, but...Iron Man, Shield = Evil and Cap's team = Good? :)

Hey post a character sheet... This seems interesting... Or do you want me to just use the character outline from the original RP?

nfrat33

The Critch, sounds good and yea if you can paste the character outline from identity in here, that'd be awesome.

Max

I might be interested, but I'm having trouble deciding if I want to keep Ying, or transfer Sketch and/or Ebony, although I would probably tweak them.

Sketch/Ebony are the duo that I used for the Mutations thread, which was dying out when Identity started.

Anyways, I'll think it over some more and let you know.

Sweet Max, glad to have the old gang back

nfrat33
08/08/2007 9:08 AM

Well, I guess I'll beat The Critch to it. Here is the resume that was in Identity, but I just transfered it over here. Once we get a little bit more interest, I'll go ahead and start her up.

P.S - By the way, I am still using Maxis aka Louis Maxim. He is just in pure demon form.

WYXZ, sorry but replying to your post. Captain and Iron-Man aren't good or bad. It all depends on which side you agree on. If you are for the registration, then your side is seen as the good side, but if your for the resistance, then your side is seen as good. Get the picture?

nanuk
08/08/2007 10:40 AM

Get the picture?

That there's no clear good or bad is kind of the point of Civil War.
People who were previously colleagues and friends are divided over it- and the fact that you can see and understand the points of both sides makes it more powerful.

Second run of Marvel Zombies may be tied in with Civil War, which should be... interesting, lol.

Sketch/Ebony are the duo that I used for the Mutations thread, which was dying out when Identity started.

I liked those characters, and wanted to see more of them- but Ying's ace too.
It might be a bit much of me to expect you to manage 3 though, lol.

I have all the Civil War stuff on my laptop at the mo, so I might have a looksee and figure out what I could do with Antje if I'm able to join.

Max
08/08/2007 12:17 PM

But it'd be a shame to see Antje without the concurrent relationship with Ying...gah...

I dunno. I'll hopefully have more time after I move, and if not I'll at least have a clearer head.

I'll just keep my eyes peeled and see what happens until then.

Ok yall, good thinking. Nanuk, your right, zombies is going to be tied in and its going to kick ass.

Max
08/08/2007 4:19 PM

...wait...

Zombies?

In this thread, or in the overarching Marvel universe?

I don't even want to know why or how or what the zombie storyline is about in Marvel, unless you're going to incorporate it into this thread.

*Hopes it isn't going to be incorporated*

nanuk
08/08/2007 4:22 PM

lol- no, that was a reference to my mention of the Marvel: Zombies title. It will not- as far as I know- be incorporated into this thread. It wouldn't work anyway ;)

Ne_Drac
08/08/2007 5:44 PM

Hmmmm, Marvel Civil War eh? I likes it! Unless someone has a huge reason for me not to join then count me in.

*runs off to start making a new character*

nfrat33
08/08/2007 10:22 PM

Drac don't worry your in, and Nanuk no of course no Zombies is not going to be incorporated, although I might make references... maybe, to create a sick plot twist or something, but most likely not.

Have you been reading the new Marvel Zombies series, its crazy good.

Meh.
I thought it was ok (really liked the Army of Darkness stuff, lol)- but it irritates me that they're all so accepting of the fact that they've gone from being heroes to eating everyone they come across!
I get it, the hunger is great and hard to resist, but they're heroes, for Flark's sake, they should at least try.

The actual idea and the art etc. are cool but I just think there was a lot more potential- if they'd dealt with the emotional stuff it could've been epic.

nfrat33
08/09/2007 7:11 PM

True, it was too straight forward, but the art was awesome.

TheCritch

Here it is! My character sheet!

Name: Solomon Attus

Description: A young fellow of an average height, and thin build. His long, straight dark hair hangs about his waist like a veil of dark silk. His eyes are a deep green like that of leaves under night's shade. His cheekbones are high and his cheeks themselves seem hollow and torn about his thin, cold lips. His flesh is pale and ridden with blemishes and unhealing wounds. His seemingly fragile body is clothed by a pair of black leather pants and an equally black pair of rugged old boots. A faded black leather jacket full of stitches and holes, hangs of his slacken shoulders, it lays open across his bare, bleeding torso and it's high collar is torn apart so that it frays out like some filthy leather mane.

Occupation: Homeless and unemployed.

Hero-

Hero Name: The Wretch

Powers: Upon contact with any organic substance which is currently animated, the substance will begin to decay, if contact is prolonged then the decay will spread throughout the rest of that particular organic mass from the afflicted area. His blood and all other body fluids also have the same effect on organic material they come into contact with. This power is limited only to organic material. He can animate dead material with his blood (only his blood), however it will loose it's animated properties in a matter of minutes after reanimation. He may also control the amount of blood that he can produce at any given time and can also grow new veins and arteries so as to redirect blood to and from his heart making it highly difficult to die of blood-loss.

Weaknesses: He heals ten times slower than normal and is constantly afflicted with a strange disease that causes him to cough up great amounts of black phlegm at random intervals. Salt will cause his flesh to deteriorate at an immense speed. He looses his eyesight during daylight hours and can only see after nightfall. His powers cannot be turned off and thus has a sort of "Midas Touch".

Background: Solomon has had a relatively normal life up until his 13th birthday when a terrible curse laid up his family over 200 years ago reawakens for the first time in 100 years. The origins of this strange curse are a mystery to both himself and even his now deceased family members. On this horrid day he was driven mad by the carnage his new powers wrought on his family members, their deaths caused by his own hands, he was ridden with guilt and in this guilt he swore an oath unto himself, that he would never become responsible for the death of another whom he loved and thus has become a self-made outcast, trying his best to remain as far from humanity as humanly possible. However in recent years he has returned to civilization with a new goal in mind, he would
discover the source of his curse and rid himself of his wretched burden, he searched the world for answers and instead he found something far worse than anything he could have possibly imagined. He discovered that his curse was the fault of his desperate great great grandfather, whom had tried to bring his deceased wife back to life using a deadly magic which brought him not only his wife but also a terrible price, never again could he feel the softness of her flesh, never again could he taste her lips or feel her heartbeat against his, and this same curse was also to find its way to his next descendant to be born on his birthday on their 13th year. His ancestor also brought death upon those he loved in a failed attempt to beat the curse and he even took his own life to end his terrible pain. This gave Solomon a new purpose in life-to see to it that no one would ever be separated from their loved ones again. This has given him the title of the Wretch, he who would watch over the those whom loved and were loved, he has devoted his life to destroying those who would break the hearts of others and has lead a life of despair and death ever since.

cheeks themselves seem hollow and craven about his thin

Quick question- how can cheeks seem cowardly, lol?

Upon contact with any organic substance, the substance will begin to decay

So we should expect him to be quickly pantless and barefoot?
(What is it with you and shirtless charcters, anyway? ;))

Lol.. Yeah sorry... I was rather tired when I wrote that.. I'll fix it and as for this:

So we should expect him to be quickly pantless and barefoot?
(What is it with you and shirtless charcters, anyway? ;))

Yes... That may become a problem... With leather being organic and all....Hmmm... Perhaps I'll have to do another edit... Damn it...

Alright.. I've fixed all the problems... And as for most of my characters being shirtless... well... ummm.... I really.. don't...know...

Thanks! It took me a long time to come up with anything... I spent an hour staring at that blinking cursor before I began typing and even then I wasn't quite sure what it was I was heading for... Well anyway... Hopefully my madly shirtless character will be able to begin his tragic journey soon...

Yea I'm debating on whether of starting it up yet or not, you guys think I should start it up?

Ne_Drac

Name: Christian Michaels

Age: 21

Height: 6'0

Description: Black Hair cut into a short mohawk, soft blue eyes, skin somewhat tanned with burn marks that are visible along his arms and chest. Usually wears sleeveless shirts, jeans, work boots, and fingerless biker gloves. All clothing was provided by the Xavier Institute and made from unstable molecules so powers don't thrash them.

Occupation: College Student

-Hero-

Hero Name: Burst

Powers: Body generates and stores radio active energy. Burst can channel this energy to allow him flight, concussive blasts and super strength. Body has heightened durability in order to resist the destructive potential of its own power.

Weaknesses: Use of powers is sometimes unpredictable and dangerous. When in use Burst's powers cause the temperature around him to steadily increase. Due to the steady build of energy he can become dangerous to those around him as his energy level causes him to release increasingly more dangerous amounts of radiation. When this occurs he must discharge the excess amount or risk losing control and blowing up.

Bio: Christian Michaels gained his power the old fashioned way. He was born a mutant. When he was 12 his powers began to manifest and at first everything was fine as the radiation emitted from his body was in such small amounts that it had no adverse effects on those around him. In fact nobody even knew he was a mutant. Slowly however his energy levels built up and once past the level he could safely contain Christian's family started to suffer from radation sickness. For some time the doctors where unable to determine the cause. It wasn't until Chris's mother died that they realized he was a mutant and in fact the cause of her death.

Arrested at first Chris was eventually transfered to Xavier's in order to learn control of his powers. Despite spending several years day he kept others at bay, his fear of causing others harm with his power always a present thought on his mind.

Once he managed to master his powers to some degeree he decided to leave the institute. Except for when he need to discharge the excess of build of energy Burst rarely if ever used his mutant abilities. However one night in Los Angeles while returning home from campus he came across a fight between the Avengers and the Wrecking Crew. Seeing that Earth's Mightiest Heroes where being overpowered the young mutant lent a hand.

After that Chris found himself using his powers more and more as he began going on patrol and helping protect those in need. As far as the issue of registration he has yet to choose a side. If anyone knows the important of training and control it is this young mutant, however if anyone knows what it feels like to be persecuted simply for being it is Chris as well. Despite his best efforts to remain apart from the oncoming tension between the factions he knows that sooner or later he will have to choose.
