Okay, so I finished watching the movie and had an idea. Lets give the RPGC a forum to pick their favorite character from history and play them out in a similar setting. There will be some research required to play a history character, like actually knowing what kind of a person they are. Situations vary though, if you are playing someone like...King Tut. We only know his basics, but his personality is somewhat elusive. I have to approve your character before you post. EXPECT TO HAVE TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH on their time period!

There are many different exhibits, and I don't have a problem with making this a huge huge museum.

There will be two watchmen, one girl, one boy. These positions ARE OPEN. You may play a character featured in the movie if you like.

No magic, excluding the magic of the tablet that brings your character to life. If you have a particular question about a character you'd like to use, say a book character that could be considered historical (ex. Moses) then please ask and I will consider your situation.

Sample character sheet -

Name -
Time period you originate from -
Exhibit name -
Appearance -
Brief known history -
Particularly exemplarary things you have done -

If you are interested, please let me know!

So we might actually have a plot! I'm posting a vague thing here (because of course it will have twists and such. At least, I hope it will.) to give ya'll an idea of how this whole deal is gonna go down.

Basically, the museum owners and a museum in Cairo have decided that the Pharoah's exhibit is going to be moved from its current location, to Cairo, Egypt. Well, as we all know, that would mean the Tablet was moved, and bye bye to coming alive at night for everyone.

So the basic goal of the roleplay would be to convince, however we can, the museum that the exhibit needs to stay where it is. This will be up to the players to decide how they should exactly go about doing all of this.

Would there be an actual story, Jay- a goal, if you will- or would it be more hanging and chatting and getting educated?

CandlestickJay
05/13/2007 6:27 AM

I think an actual storyline, something where everyone has to work together etc to get accomplished. I'm still working on it.

Hmmm...I wanta join! I could be Einstein, Lincoln, or even Fred Flintstone j/k. I don't mind doing research (I'm actually in the middle of researching something for French class). I could take a break or two to look someone up. I'll be back later to see if you do this. Peace!

The forum should up if this goes well. :-)

I wouldn't mind being Napoleon or maybe someone down right evil like Hitler.

CandlestickJay
05/21/2007 8:03 PM

So thats what, 3-4? plus myself? If we can get one more than I'll get everything ready!

05/27/2007 9:58 AM

Cool. Here's a little bump so people will see it! Come on folks, we need another person!

Peace!

nanuk
05/27/2007 12:02 PM

There's no point bumping it too much because Jay's not here.

And, I swear to God, if you don't stop saying "Peace!" I will hunt you down, stab your eyes out, and feed the remains to you.
Take some Ritalin and calm down, for fuck's sake.

05/28/2007 7:07 PM

I'm sorry if it bugs you, but I need some way to send off, and that just happens to be the way I do it. I could change it to something else, but you'd probably get annoyed by that as well...

Hmmm...as an unusually calm person, I must admit that that last statement is somewhat offensive to me. Saying 'Peace!' doesn't mean I'm hyped up on coffee or something. I'm not on a sugar rush, high, and I am most definitely not hyper on most occasions. Sometimes I will get a little exited at the end of a really good post in an RP, or when I release programs to my friends on the web, but never enough to really show any change in my netiquette. Sorry, Nanuk, but 'Peace!' is staying. If you don't like it, YOU can take those damn pills. Or I could go back to ~, my original, but you'll need to get three people to type in "OS is awesome. Peace!" on my thread "OS is here..." in Welcome Wagon.

~OS => Sample!

Peace!

P.S. I am still looking for a character. Anyone know of any famous dead hippies? Peace!^2

Firstly, you don't need to sign off a post- we can all see quite well when it's finished, and we can see quite well who authored it.
No one else does it here so I don't see why you need to try to make yourself standout.
It's attention seeking (which is one of the signs of ADHD, by the by).

Secondly, It's not the peace that irritates me, you nicompoop, it's the exclamation marks. Always at the end of peace, and they litter your posts- they're what make you seem like you should be on meds.

Sorry for the interruption, Jay.

Well If I join this It will be 4 threads and my event................I'll see If I can do it.

For a newb I'm pretty busy here and I already stay up till 4 am so we'll see how this plays out.

I'm thinking maybe I'll be a neanderthal hunter character

O_S
05/29/2007 7:37 PM

Hmmm...that last post was mostly a joke. Sorry. And I must tell you that I don't seek attention through this, I just do it. It's almost second nature to me now.

I still haven't decided who I want to be...Maybe...Stalin?

Recko_glyph
05/29/2007 7:46 PM

Yay! Looks like I'll be able to join up after all.

So the Neanderthal character might work out (night watchmen would have to teach him English though).

When Jay gets back I'm sure this thing will take off so until then this is all I got.

Zombie-Pop
05/29/2007 9:05 PM

Sweet, Jay's gonna be stoked that everybody's still here! *happy dance*
I'm gonna play Artemisia Gentileschi, an italian painter :]

adamsonite
05/30/2007 12:55 AM

lol, why not it sounds interesting enough, I feel as a canadian i should play someone from my country, maybe a new exhibit, OOH i got it, a war of 1812 exibit, i can be Sir Isaac Brock, someone else could be tucumseh (leader of natives allied to britain). I'm posting a brief bio for those who might wonder, Sir Isaac Brock was a general of britain in canada (which was a country technically at the time bc upper and lower cnaada were a colony of britain and had a right to bear their own armada eregoe canadian forces fought in 1812, heh heh) and he died at the battle of queenston heights.

Name - Major-General Sir Isaac Brock

Time period you originate from - 1769 to 1812

Exhibit name - The War of 1812

Appearance - Short, brown, hair (as that of a soldier of the era). A red, british soldier's coat, and a white pair of soldier's pants. He carries a war era musket and a long saber, complete with the standard of his ranks, the british flag.

Brief known history - He joined the Brtish Army when he was 15 and fought in the Napolean Wars. He was known as a brilliant soldier and he attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. In 1802 he was shipped to Canada from Hull to York. When war broke out in 1812. When Brock was sent to lead a small battalion of men to stop the American invaders, he met Chief Tecumseh. Both of them took Detroit. Later, with pressing of the Canadian government to not risk battle and defend their forts instead of attacking, he lead an offensive against invaders of the town of Queenston, and was killed when a American sharpshooter picked him off while leading the men up the mount.

Particularly exemplarary things you have done - Took the American town of Detroit. Lead various attacks stopping American invasions. Gained a reputation as a brilliant leader and a stunning military planner. He, however has been doubted by many (probably Americans) that he has done no real heroic acts. These people say that "his victory, in this case, would have owed more to the ineptitude of the American commander than to any feat of strategic genius. Even the victory of Queenston Heights was not assured until well after he had been killed, although it is difficult to assess the effect that his death had on the morale of the British units present." Oh that was lovely- no exclamations marks, I got a happy feeling ;)

I was joking... too... honestly... :P
I'm glad I don't have to hate you, it requires too much energy, lol.

I haven't decided a character yet but I finish work for the summer Friday, but then have corrections to do, so I'll be free as a proverbial from next week.

Good lord.

I admire enthusiasm but you just have to wait a few more days.

Zombie-Pop
05/31/2007 11:44 AM

Well, for the moment the GM, Jay, is on vacation, so we'll have to wait for her to get back to start up.

adamsonite
05/31/2007 2:49 PM

Naw i meant a separate roleplay, then when she/he returns, we can start over heh heh

PS (on middle earth online forums i used to do it all the time if the person in planning was away for a while, so pardon my forwardness)

nanuk
05/31/2007 3:11 PM

This ain't Middle Earth, sonny.

More's the pity.. ooh Sean Bean.. *sigh*

Zombie-Pop
05/31/2007 8:13 PM

*searches for hobbits...*
I think we better just wait till Jay gets back, it'd get uber confusing if we have TWO threads running for the same story-line. It was her idea, she should start it up. She'll be back Sunday, so we should be up and running soon.

I whole-heartedly agree Nanuk--Sean Bean...*swoons*

I am a very nice person. Ask just about everyone here and they will tell you.

I too appreciate your enthusiasm. Really. But doing this, would piss me off beyond belief.

Beyond belief.

Be very glad that nanuk and Zombie were here to stop you.

As for getting this started, I shall as soon as I am caught up on everything else alright? Thanks!

No need to be afraid. Off I go to pretend to work on the starter post...

BTW, having Stalin would be exceedingly amusing.

Having Napoleon and Isaac Brock fighting all the time would be funny too, cause Brock fought in the napoleon wars against him, heh

That's us, RPGC police/life guards.

I whole-heartedly agree Nanuk--Sean Bean...*swoons*

Can I play Sean Bean?
He's, uh, historical, right?

Can't remember if there was an official character sheet up, shall check because I think I finally have mine worked out.

adamsonite
06/03/2007 2:15 AM

I'm a dude, so I can't whole-heartedly agree, but he was great in LOTR and National Treasure. I'd think if you could find a reason he would be in the museum than it'd b okay. Wat u guys think? (Or girls heh heh)

nanuk
06/03/2007 2:22 AM

Oh I'm sure we could come up with a reason, lol.

But I think I'll go another direction...

Name - Boudica, Queen of the Iceni (my namesake!)

Time period you originate from - ~60 A.D, east Britain.

Exhibit name - Women in History

Appearance - Tall and statuesque, long red hair that falls to her hips, with a 'piercing glare'. Customarily wears a golden torc around her throat, a multi-coloured woolen tunic, and heavy cloak fastened at her right shoulder with a large broach.

Brief known history - Renowned anti-Imperialist.

Having voluntarily aligned himself and his territory with Rome, after her rat of a debtor of a husband (Prasutagus) died the Romans annexed his kingdom, ignoring his will that the kingdom be left jointly to the Empire and his daughters (largely as policy, but also as Romans did not accept daughters as heirs). Boudica was not thrilled, and on protesting was flogged, and her daughters raped.

While the then Governor of Britain, Suetonius, was leading a campaign to try to eradicate the druids of Mona the Iceni and other tribes, led by Boudica, revolted. Rallied by cries of shaking off Imperialistic shackles they amassed a large army and sacked Camulodunum, Londinium and Verulamium, killing over 70, 000 people in the process (many quite nastily), before finally being defeated by an outnumbered Roman force. Before that defeat the strength of the uprising and the damage it caused (both in terms of property and human cost) was such that the then-Emperor Nero was said to have considered withdrawing altogether from Britain.

After the defeat of the Britons Boudica died, but sources conflict on the manner- most accepted is that she took poison, or that she simply fell ill and died.

Particularly exemplarary things you have done - Nearly caused the withdrawal of the Roman Empire from Britain.

let me know if that's okay, Jay.
