I'm kind of new to this site... (Is a week new?) Well I'm well into starting off here but there just seems to be a lack of life, with my net of net buddies I'll try improving that... (Nerdy Girl =P)

Anywho I would like to GM a bit but My Gundam idea not so hot.. so given the choice what would people like to RP an outline would be good then I'll do my best to Kick start it... I spend way to much time waiting for Jack_Dervish to reply not doing anything so.. (Not an attack on him just I'm sure he has a life else where right now)

Let me Know and I'll do my best to make something from scratch

Hmm... That's a good question.

First of all my dream RP would have to involve 4 or 5 other keen like-minded players with similar interests and quality of writing skills. (I've consider cloning myself but can't find any scientist willing to help out.. ???) Ideally I'd love to start up an ongoing campaign styled roleplay themed on something like X-Com, UFO or maybe even Aliens.

Let me Know and I'll do my best to make something from scratch

Don't worry I won't hold you to that.

Hey Flark, if you want, I have a new(ish) Rp in the General Forum that you may be interested in. (To dream a little dream) I could use another rp'er :D

Thanks for the offer Kalia, I think I need a good kick up the backside. :D

I've just posted in your RP. I hope it's okay, I feel a little rusty.

I'm actually not a big fan of high end Sci fi stuff. I find people can get too bogged down with the tech to develop story or character, lol.
Same with really high fantasy- it's been too long since I read DL or FR, and I feel a little stilted trying to jump back in. Could just be a lack of recent practice ;)

So I suppose my idea RP has a setting with fantasy/horror/sci fi elements but with a healthy sprinkling of realism (it's always easier to write what you know); players and DM who are into character development and plot (I am traditionally a looong poster, but I've tempered myself considerably since coming back- I'm too old for that kind of stamina now!) , who pay attention to what their fellows are posting, and who can form reasonably coherent sentences (paragraphs are nice too) with spelling that doesn't make me cringe (especially with the automatic spell checker thing on these posts!).

I know things like spelling and punctuation (Oh! Beloved punctuation!) shouldn't really matter but I find that, if they're really atrocious, they're far too distracting for me to concentrate on what's actually supposed to be happening (my previous paragraph, for example, with all the brackets, that is quite trying to read, I will admit ;) ). The person could be the most creative and amazing poster in the entire universe but if I have to read a long punctuation-less sentence three or four times to decipher what it's supposed to mean I find myself rather lacking in enthusiasm at the end of it..

But that's just me ;)

It's equally (if not moreso) important that a poster has a bit of enthusiasm for what they're doing and puts thought and effort into their posts. It's a communal experience, and should be an entertaining and engaging one- the three I'm in now, for example, I am more than happy with, finding myself logging on frequently to see if there are any updates.

Nanuk, I agree with everything you just said.

While I enjoy Fantasy / Sci-fi and also horror, I too don't like to get bogged down with too much history and technical details either. Good character development and a good flowing storyline are much more important.

I think the most important thing of all, other than enthusiasm, is who you are RP'ing with. Some people seem to just click - and agreeing on points like this is a sure sign.

so I've got me a potential future RP buddy? Yay! :)

What you've said about clicking is dead on- here already there are people who's posts I anticipate eagerly.

I know you were talking recently about the lack of activity on the boards (and that what activity there was was unstimulating) but sometimes for RPs that can be a relatively good thing- a smaller group can get to know each other's styles and strengths much easier, so see the lull as having some positive aspects. ;)

Of course, larger groups means a greater variety of input and potentially more variety but I've always been a quality over quantity kind of girl...

[edit: I've just looked up and seen 5 smilies sprinkled through my two posts. What's happening to me?!]

Yes, I've added you to my mental list of future people I'd like to RP with. :)

You have even compelled me to add a smiley to my post too. Let's just put it down to us being glad to be back in action. I genuinely believe successful roleplaying has a positive effect on personal morale.

Ok's for now i'll leave it but i'm keep a down to earth but slightly warped 20 year future in miind, but not too like California or Bust. Flark try getting into it, me and nanuk are.

Thanks Luna but I actually GM'd a fairly decent post-apocalyptic RP myself not to long ago. It's probably in some kind of transitional period between the Forums and the Archives at the moment. I'm only just coming back from a break since then so I think I'll take things one step at a time for now and not overindulge myself just yet.

Again, thanks for the offer though. :)

Horror and Sci - Fi' kinds of Rp sounds interesting, though inserting 'Mystical' creatures or 'Magikal' [I uh, intentionally spelled it that way.] might make the play a - bit more interesting, though it might become hectic.

And I myself, agree to what Nanuk had said above earlier. Sometimes, other Rp-ers tend to not place punctuations inside their sentences. It sometimes ticks me off, having to make out what the person was trying to point out, while thinking on what to pick-up from what the person wrote.

I have nothing againts those who Role-Play more than one character, but sometimes(Maybe it's only me...) it's kind of hard to keep up with who's who and who's doing what. But then again, it's just my opinion on this.

[I think I will try to quit typing without looking at the keyboard for awhile, for I find myself using the backspace button more than I intened to when I type.]

..How could I possibly have misspelled "Opinion" and typoed it as "Onion"? The hell.

And it was going to be epic. Wound up with too many unreliables, though. The major bane of any PBP RP. I miss that one. And, actually, I fell away from RPing shortly thereafter, too, when I let my Pirate RP die.

I just got back into it these past few days, too, and am already feeling the effect. When you don't have anything to do, and it doesn't matter because you can develop something for an RP, that's great.

so I've got me a potential future RP buddy? Yay! :)

And you can find that RP buddy and several other solid players at the "For death and glory" thread... Well, once they transition from the Siege of Tarris Hold inquiry thread. *hint, hint, nudge, nudge* ;)

Now, as for my perfect RP... That's tough. I run the gamut of settings. Just now for my return, I'm looking at my fictional medieval world, Silent Hill, and real-world Cthulhu Mythos. Good stuff.

The only important thing to me, is my fellow RPers (which might explain why I've been whoring myself around to various players to get them to join mine). If the other people have the know how to develop interesting characters and help to establish a certain mood for an RP, then almost anything can work.

I know, I know!
I've been reading, and was tempted but I can't write action for the life of me and know nothing about medieval architecture or siege techniques.

And while ordinarily I quite like doing a bit of research (chinese cooking for Firefly, for example, lol) I have just been given 8 extra maths classes to take in my schedule and so have some serious] boning up to do!

I'll be reading along though, and who knows, you might tempt me ;)
