Spelljammer: The Battle for Realmspace

Back round Information: Spelljammer introduced into the AD&D universe a comprehensive system of fantasy astrophysics, including the Ptolemaic concept of crystal spheres. Crystal spheres may contain multiple worlds and are navigable using ships equipped with "spelljamming helms". Ships powered by spelljamming helms are capable of flying into not only the sky but into space. With their own fields of gravity and atmosphere, the ships have open decks and tend not to resemble the spaceships of science fiction, but instead look more like galleons, animals, birds, fish or even more wildly fantastic shapes. The Spelljammer setting is designed to allow the usual sword and sorcery adventures of Dungeons & Dragons to take place within the framework of outer space tropes. Flying ships travel through the vast expanses of interplanetary space, visiting moons and planets and other stellar objects.
Dominant Species (All are playable):

Elf: The Elves of the Spelljammer universe are very similar to most other fantays Elves. They are thin, and range in height from five feet to six feet. They have angular features and athetics bodies, and are excellent mariners onboard Spelljamming ships. The ships produced and used by the Elves are organic in appearance, and most are very agile and swift. The workhorse of the Elvish Imperial Navy is the Man-o-War. This ships has gone through many stages from anciet vessels to never, better versions. They have weights that range from fifty to sixty spacial tons and are typical well armed. They utilize Spelljamming Helms that rely on magic from a nearby wizard to power the ship. Below are links to several versions of the Man-o-War.http://www.spelljammer.org/ships/aa/ManowarArchaic.html

Illithid (Mind Flayer): The main nemesis of all space fairing species, the freaded mind eatinf Illithids are not to be tirfled with. Illithids have four octopus-like tentacles around a beaked or lamprey-like mouth, and require the brains of sentient creatures as part of their diet. An illithid who snares a living creature in all four of its tentacles can extract and devour its living brain. One of the most feared powers is the dreaded Mind Blast, where the illithid emits a cone-shaped psionic shockwave to incapacitate any creature with its mind for a short amount of time. Illithids also have other psionic powers, generally telepathic in nature, although their exact effects have varied over editions. Other powers include a defensive psionic shield and powers of psionic domination for controlling the minds of others. Their vessels typically have a shell-like appearance and are crewed by only a few Flayers, as they use slaves to man their weapons and crew their ships. The most common type of ship in the Iliithid Navy is the Nautiloid, a fourty-five ton war machine known for its great firepower. Below is a link to a Nautiloid and a link to a Mind Flayer image. They are reknown for the use of Lifejammer Helms, which use the life energy of a person (Killing them) to power the ship and not the magic of a Wizard.

Human: Obviously, I need to provide little information. Pretty much your basic human, but sailing through space. Their ships are mostly bird-like in appearance and also take the shape of other animals native to their homeworlds. A very common destroyer is the Marline, or Minnow class. It is small, manuerable, fast, and can still pack a wallop. It is grouped into schools for increased effectiveness. Below is a link to a Marlin, and a larger Warbird class.

Theses are the main races taking part in this war. If you would like to play another race, PM me with your choice and Ill give you the details on their status in the Spelljammer Universe.
The Battle for Realmspace
Realmspace is the crystal sphere (Solar system) that holds the Forgotten Realms inside it. Toril, Tethyr, Amn, Baldurs Gate, all are to be accesible in this role play. Most of the action while be taking place in the Wildspace (Outer Space) around said planet. The Illithid powers of many crystal spheres have formed into a sort of confederacy with the intent of conquering as many crystal spheres as possibe. Not even the powerful Elven Imperial Navy could stop them , and many crystal spheres have already been overrun by the Mind Flayers. Up until this point the Humans have been very reluctant to enter battle. Now that one of their spheres is in iminent danger, though, they have stepped up thje plate bringing with them their own fleet powerful ships to battle the Mind Flayer Menace. The ELN and the Republic (Humans) have formed an alliance that inteneds to stop the Illithids before they can take any more spheres. Only a few Alliance ships are stationed in Realmspace at this time, though many more are on the way. The Illithid Armada is already only a few days away, and the current defenders must hold off the Illithid Armada until help arrives. Then the combined Human and Elven fighters will drive them back all the way to their homeworld, and take that for their own. It is a battle for survival, and only one side is going tio win.
Here is the character sheet. No bio, just basic backround information. If you want another race, PM me. There are many, many more ships than I mentioned. PM with an idea of what you want and Ill see what I can do. Any questions? PM me with them.
