Hi, I'm new to this site and kinda new to roleplaying. I was wondering if the training grounds were going to have any new "tutorial" like subjects. I am also new to the post-by-post concept. So if someone would give me pointers, well, Thanks.

It's entirely possible that one of the veterans around here could get something like a tutorial underway. As it is, if you have any questions that I don't answer here, feel free to ask me, or one of the Roleplaying Sages, you can recognize them on the board by their nifty purple badges, led by Lunitari0. I'm sure plenty of other vets would be happy to answer, too.
PBP, play-by-post, is basically just collaborative storytelling. The GM, Game Master, will have the basic idea for the story in mind and will generally control the flow of the game, while each player takes control of their own character, and sometimes others. The rules for PBP are much looser than most types of roleplaying, and will always be defined by a good GM. Usually it boils down to, "Don't act like you're a god."
When a good group of players gets together in PBP, the results can be a very interesting story told from several points of view. You can look around at some of the RPs here in the Free Form Roleplaying Forum to get a better idea of it. Shameless plug aside, I'd suggest you have a look at "102 AA: Surface Recon". Good bunch there.
If you're interested in trying your hand at it, I might pitch an idea for a game in the near future, and I'd be glad to have you so you can get a firsthand feel for how it works.

Hi, Gam, my name is Tassa, and I'm one of the Sages Unbeliever mentioned. Don't forget to take advantage of any thread that has "Newbies Welcome" in the title. These threads are made by Sages and are designed to not only let other rpers enjoy the thread, but to invite new people to join in the thread.
These threads are generally controlled by a Sage GM and can be helpful in learning PBP rping. Then again, most of the rp threads that are controlled by people who have been here for a whie can be helpful in teaching you PBP roleplaying.
Also, like Unbeliever said, don't be afraid to ask for advice or whatever. We are more than willing to help you out.

'm Lunitari (Luni) and I'm co-director of the RP Sages (along with Kalia_Majere), the group that runs the show on the Free Forum Role-Playing Forums. Kalia's badge is silver, being an Executive Producer - the Sage badges are purple (like Tassa's). Don't be afraid to Intra-mail or PM any of us with questions or if you need advice. We'll help you out anyway we can. Hope to see ya around! *grins*
