Is there any interest in a vampire game starting in the 12th century? Venice, Rome or Constantinople would be the preferred location.
The players would start as human but would have some trait that attracted them to the thread starting Vampire (who would be removed from the story early on in order to give the players the freedom to carry the story).
New players joining the game would start as mortals and need to get themselves sired by the existing vampires (or just eaten if you dont want them to join).
This would not be the White Wolf setting for two reasons the first is that I do not know enough about the setting and second, I do not like the idea that there would be any other vampires in the game than the players.

Thanky kindly.

Na na, that's far too stereotypical, you may as well go for Transilvania. I think you should try something different, why not Blackpool?

Which one? Why not go for 'Count Von Count' from 'Sesame Street'?

No seriously Mica, I am interested if you can get a few more players involved. I've been keen to try something vampire related for quite a while now.

*to RPGC staff* Please fix the subject heading otherwise we'll struggle to attract interest for this idea.

Vonnnnn, Von interested player, Muhahahaharrr ;)

Seriously though, the locations are hackneyed as they do work well. Count Vladimir of Blackpool does not quite have the same ring.
The big city is a good starting point but is fundamentally nothing more than a starting point. The time period is another starting point to get the feeling of immortality that is part and parcel of being a vampire. This I believe is lacking in modern vampire stories.
The plot hooks are designed to span decades and centuries rather than weekends.

Hmm, interesting choices. And I know it is chliche but would people have a choice of being either a Vampire or a Hunter.

And I actually have the Dark Ages: Vampire book by WW somewhere. I prefer it so much to the Masquerade.

Whatever the case, count me in. Ill do some quick referencing and research on the time and area. Im a catholic buff so ...um..yeah..

Well, I guess this looks interesting. If I have the free time, I'll most likely be joining.

Thanky kindly good Sir

Here is some more to the idea if everyone is still onboard, I will create the starting thread and it is then up to you to create your human profiles and embroil your characters into the scenes or create new ones that the story/existing vampire can easily visit.

...

The story - you are human. You have to 'seduce' the plot starting vampire into wanting to sire you. Court his interest but not throw yourself at him. Your life has to be the spark that warms his cold dead heart.
Yelling "Bite Me" is as appealing as a Blackpool Slapper - now that is a horror story but not the sort we are interested in - trust me.

Once he has sired a few, I will remove him from the story arc and then it is up to you to sire other players wanting to join.

You can also play as many 'victims' as you desire. 1 rule - you cannot prey on any victim that you play. Victims are started in exactly the same manner as a vamp-wannabe, basically start playing another character. Make these interesting - the son/daughter of the Doge, visiting dignitaries, priests, nuns, knights, wives of barons...

Power - power is only gained through obsession. It is not enough to simply rip a throat out. You have to become fixated on the target. This fixation is based on the vampires personality. Seduce the victim, woo them if you choose, alternatively make them fear the night and murder everyone close. At the time of feeding the power you gain is based on how much of the victims life is dominated by you, their innocence and their social status.
Just edit your profile entry to include of the people that you have eaten and a short note on the amount of time (entries) doing so.

Short Term Goal - is to survive the backlash of the victims that you prey on (largely played by me). Later, as your actions cause a backlash felt by other vampires, it may be a case of surviving them.
Also having a lot of fun seducing and terrorising others.

Any ideas/comments welcome.

(Why does pasting from word mangle everything?)

You always start as a human, so play a hunter - you will either kill a vamp, get eaten or become a vamp yourself. As this is a vampire game however, I think that it fair to say that you can strike with the stake - it is however up to the thread master or the vampire in question as to whether it strikes true - this is not Buffy.
