I've been playing with this idea for a while now, and since i'm starting to get more free time around here, I figure I'll ask your opinions about it.

The setting is on earth during about 2056. Two alien races have arrived on the planet to try and settle earth.

One type is a centaur-like people, the Dartheron, who wear carbon-crystal armor reminicent of the Greek warriors. They are very down to earth and believe strongly in using nature to their advantage. They often drain an area of natural recources and build sprawling metropolises upon the dried land, using a form of cloning to create new food. They tend to aid in battle of the natives, fighting as higher ranks.

The other species are a octopus creatures, Ohomands, who use platinum armor and are very aloft and mystical. They don't usually fight, instead rely upon others to do it for them. When landing on a planet, they will adopt new ways to take advantage of the resources and not plunder the land as the Dartheron.

Bolth aliens are at war and are using the human populace as pawns for their galactic conquest.

Technologies involved include short-range teleport portals (how the aliens reached earth) and magics, divided up into Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Darkness, and Light. The magics were unleashed upon earth when the energies slipped through the portals.

Anyway, all thoughts and opinions are welcome.

This seems very interesting. How exactly are the six types of magic harnessed? Can anyone/thing just channel it directly through themselves or do they need equipment to handle it? Also, would the guns be projectile (bullets), or plasma? Can guns use the magic to have special things like, tremor launchers, gust throwers, etc.? Or if they can't, would melee weapons be able to use it, giving them advantages over guns? Are Ohomands good, or just efficient? Soryy for all the questions, I'm just curious 'cause this sounds pretty good.

questions are welcome, that's why I posted here first.

Magic would be harnessed though special creatures and humans, Casters, and they have their own rank and divisions. They can enchant things such as swords and knives, but guns are too much of a hassle (The bullets would have to be enchanted individually), although there are a few magical clips given usually to officers.

Ammo and weapons would be using rail technology; the races usually advance the natives weapondry and impliment little of their own. However, the surrounding land can be used as a weapon, and different technologies can be advanced depending on the side you are on.

Melee weapons are good for close combat, and as I mentioned can, and usually are, enchanted. The Ohomands aren't good, nor are they evil, they are just different. Bolth sides have human support, and the battles could take place anywhere on earth.

If something still doesn't make sense I probably just screwed up, or I haven't thought about it. Opinions are welcome, and if you disagree with something then make a post and I will either agree or compromise. Probably agree.

Thx for answering my questions. I think this is a very nteresting topic that I would like to be a part of. I just would need info on how to make a character for this rp.

no problem. When I get around to making the thread (definately soon, now that I have all my thoughts organized), i'll post all player info and give a more descriptive look into the planet and races.
