I just got an idea. What if there was a thread in each setting (Forgotten Realms, DL, LotR, etc.) designed to answer any questions someone may have. These will be done totally IC and anyone can pose a question concerning the setting, the history, etc. of that World. How does it sound?

It'd be like this.

Exile appeared before the towering building. His brown hair blew in the wind as he slowly ascended the marble steps leading upwards towards two large oaken doors. He stopped just short of the large portals, brushing his clothing down before finally knocking. After a few moments of silence, no one answered. The young man thought to himself, wondering if he should invite himself in, which he did shortly after.

The inside of the building was dark and smelt of old paper. Up ahead he could make out the glimmer of candlelight and directing his weary feet towards the burning flame.

"Welcome, wanderer. You have entered the library of the Forgotten Realms. I take it that you had a question to ask," an intelligent voice called from in front of him. A man adorned in a wizards robe, glasses, and pointy hat stood before him. His blue robe was littered with tiny, pulsating stars. The wrinkles under his gray eyes told of the many summers he had endured. His gray hair hung unkempt down to his shoulders.

*This would be the very first post of the thread. Well... aside from Exile entering but the first post could mostly consist of the knowledge keeper. Anyone interested? I think this could help get players RPing into setting they are unfamiliar with.

yes that would be nice indeed. Especially for the new role players.

Not necessarily just for new role players; I am way left out of the curve with LOTR and the like; I haven't read LOTR (yet, I will), and I don't play Dungeons and Dragons, and I have no idea what Forgotten Realm is. That doesn't mean I haven't been open RPing for a while now (which I have), I just don't have the same experience as other people. I am mostly RPing because I like to write.

Wow, sorry about that wild tangent. I really agree with a sort of info page to inform those who want to play in themed RP's.

Well.. you are in luck. It seems that there is one up at the moment in the Dragonlance forums. Hopefully, there will be others up soon. :)

Cool Jawhun, in my case its a lot worser, although I have read a lot of the fiction, I have no experience however in tabletop RPG's. Hehe, the closest thing we got here in my country is MMORPG's. I just like to write, that's all.

This sounds like a good idea, especially for me, someone who doesn't do much RPG games (cause I suck at them *pout*), and does only writing RPGs. I think I'll go check out that Dragonlance one that's up..I'm guessing it's a game...or a book...or something..>.<

...which I can't find it seems.. >.<

Under which topic?

It's under it's own topic. Should be Library of Palanthas, or something similar to that. It's a sticky thread, so it'll be near the top of the page.

Yep. Library of Palanthas.

Definitely a good idea especially for those of us that think we know a lot about certain RPs and turns out that we don’t know as much as we think.

Gee, would to be referring to a Middle-Earth thread? ;) I'm in the Clueless Party right along with you. I don't think anyone has stepped up to take charge of the ME Library. Caelin - Mica - Damien - one of you guys gonna do that? :D

I would be happy to contribute if asked, but I'm a newbie here myself - and having just read the FFRPG article regarding newbies have a sneaky suspicion I have wandered into the Prima Donna stereotype :)
I would think either Damien and Caelin would do a much better job.

I *think* I have the power to grant you that... since it was my idea and all. :D

A collaboration?

Yeah! Get out your knightly sword and do an "I dub thee" thing!

A collaboration?

That's actually not a bad idea - between the 3 of them, I'm sure just about any question that was asked could be answered.

Yeah. Just start the thread first. When someone asks a question, anyone can answer it if they know the answer to it.

Has this idea progressed any further as I cannot see anything on this forum... am I looking in the wrong place?

That would be because you haven't posted anything yet, dear. :)
