A shard of exsistance slipped from the grasps of creation. Unseen by the eyes nor ears of travelers this place had grown peacefully as there had been no stone to ripple or bring chaos to this exsistance.
That Shard was named Zohar. It was a becon who's light shown on no exsistance except it's own. Creatures and Humans alike shared peaceful boundries. Countries rarely wared and evil rarely lurked around the corners or alleys of cities or towns.

It came to be a shock that one day a strange miasma spread from Valley's of Malise. Those that would enter that strange miasma would go mad or be consumed by evil.
For days it remained dormant in the valleys only aflicting the villages and creatures in it. Many did not know what happened behind the dark mist. Many more where frightened at it's sudden apearance.
Then one day it began to spread. It grew thicker and people could hear what sounded to be the tormented screams of humans. Those who lived outside the mist, those who would be in nearby villages would mysteriously disapear. This was to become a problem for the kindoms and empires that rested near this ruthless phenomenon.
Weeks passed and still no one was brave enough to aproach or look at the aproaching miasma but then it came. On the eve of the 3nd month of its apearance the creatures that lurked in the miasma attacked viciously at the neighboring villages, carrying with them the curse of the miasma. Each town they toppled the miasma would move in and over it. It became aparrent to the Kings, Queens, Emporers, and Emporesses that this Miasma had a staggering intlegence.
They began to call their Soldiers and Mercenaries to bare arms against the miasma to wage war against the creatures of the mist. Many people where called upon few shown their faces. Those that where sent out fell in battles for villages they where sent to protect.

There came a day where no one could hold back the miasma. And the final call to arms rang out from the countries that neiphbored the miasma. To many where scared to be consumed by that evil incarnation.

This is the tale of those that join the fight. The story of those who bring their inner valor or quest for glory to the surface.

3 months…… 3 months of hell had been too much for the people inside the miasma. What were left of the villagers in each of the towns that the miasma took over became slaves. Evil beings had come to the towns and had taken control. The beings made the villagers work hard and relentlessly. The slaves mined the mines, farmed, made gruesome weapons for the armies that they heard marching through out the miasma, among other horrific things.

The army that had amassed in the miasma controlled lands was never seen. The only thing that could be heard by the slaves was the sound of the army marching. The slaves were never able to leave their towns, for if they did they would die out there. Even if they were able to reach the edge of the miasma, they would be cut down by deadly, stealthy assassins. Spies spread through out the world, searching for places where the miasma could respawn.

The evil beings that controlled the towns had ogres keep the slaves in check. Although the evil beings seemed to have complete control, they did not. For all of the beings had to answer to one being, the creator of the miasma, the Shadow Lord.

This is the tale of the darkness. The story of the pain and suffering that the miasma and its dark creator make.

An old man sat hunched over a table slowly drinking a strong mead. His hair was grey with age and eyes had the look of mist within them. A blue mist. He was a decently well built old man and he showed that with his toned body.

His clothing choice was like the barbaric Kingdoms of the north.

OOC: A Scandinavian attire. Kinda Cletic except he has pants under the Kilt.

Though what he looked like did not matter. He had received a message from his Emperess Calling him back to duty.

He knew that his eyes had seen the battle feild to many times in his age but he was also keen to know what the strange Miasma, which lurked over the hill tops near by, was.

The man took a large sip of his mead then after releasing the glass, with his drinking hand, he began to feel up the hilt of his sheathed and bound sword.

"I never thought I would have to take you out of your sheath again for some time." He continued to rub the hilt of the sword with his hand, then continue over the sheath.
"My blood thirsty friend." His frown deepened on his cheeks. The look in his eye were nearly clouded by his lowly hung eyebrows.

"Vivek? You ok? Ever since you gotten that message you looked like you've just been stabbed by your best friend." The bar tender spoke to the older man, the sound of concern was definately riding out on his voice.

"Do you know anything of the Miasma yet old man?" Vivek spoke to the Bar Tender.
"Not a thing. Just those that enter never come back." The bar tender replied

"I guess this will be my last mission then." Vivek mumbled just loud enough for the Bar Tender to hear him.
"You couldn't mean...." The Bar Tenders voice drifted away. "That was a call to arms?" The Bar Tender continued

"Aye that it was. That it is." Vivek pushed back his seat and stood.
He was a giant to most the people around him in a sense as he stood 6'3.

After Vivek stood from his seat he reached into a pouch that had been tied onto his belt and pulled out 3 copper coins and a large red stone held into place by a Broach. Inside the stone you could see an inner making of his former countery. The markings from the Nuria clan of the Angus Kingdom.

Holding the broach for a moment he tossed the coins and the broach to the bar tender. "Take care of the Broach till I come back to reclaim my dignity." Vivek spoke in an almost commanding voice.

"Alrighty then Vivek. It'll be here for you or in memory of you." After what the Bartender said, Vivek turned around proudly and began his jourey to the near city in which his Emperess had called him too.

Evening had begun to color the sky in brilliant orange and red, lighting the forest's treetops with warm golden hues that blied the horror that lay just without their reach. The miasma had spread to many villages and burgs, wiping clean the last trace of sanity and peace within it's borders.

The call had reached many ears. But many yet were soon to come.

A tatoo fell on the packed dusty earth, many moons yet had it seen good hard rain. It curled in clayred puffs behind the splendidly decked charger whoose hooves fell rhythmically on it's boot marred surface. City to city it had ran, driven on by the desperation of it's rider.

Suddenly, to the rider's eyes, the broad shouldered visage of Vivek of Nuria appeared in the distance, and with the sharp dig of a spurred heel into the beasts' side, the mount whinnied a protest but increased it's speed until it was commanded to a halt with the sharp tug of it's reins not some feet from the aging warrior.

"Vivek of Nuria?" The mounted rider was clad in light ritualistic sun-motiffed armor, the slitted helmet bearing a golden plume of horsehair. A shortsword was at the rider's side, it's leather scabbard decorated in richly polished rubies.

"I am Ki of Gideon. I am not your foe."

Greylen_Judeth
03/12/2005 8:57 PM

"I am he. What bussiness do yee have with me?" Vivek slowed to a halt and looked up to the oncoming rider.

Over looking the rider he noticed very few details in the armored figures body. Hidden behind the many plates it had shown that this person was knightly, or at the very least posed as such.

Looking up and down the rider Vivek was without words to someone with little feature that would repusent his body.

"Take yer helm off so that I may meet the eyes of your god Ki. Show me what you hold in that head of yours." Vivek laughed at the rider. "Yee must've be desprate. But I really must see the face of those who aproach me or I can not trust them." Vivek stood tall arching his back noblely but acceptively.

OOC: Be sure to post you character description. It helps to know what we are looking at in this thread. There is a OOC section where I have Posted Vivek's and some rules. You dont seem to have broken any and I like your writing style.
If you have a new kingdom or empire besure to give a generalized location to the mist in the character creation. I think I will post Vivek's current Empire in there as well seeing there are some gaps in where he is.

"I am he. What bussiness do yee have with me?"

"I have been called to drive off the miasma that has claimed the lands just beyond this forest. As have you, I am told."

The roan gelding nickered, flanks heaving in great breaths. Frothy sweat coated it's muscular body, to which the rider motioned. "My mount is tired, and hungry. Let us pause a moment, to allow it's respite, and our meeting."

The rider dismounted, as Vivek said,

"Take yer helm off so that I may meet the eyes of your god Ki. Show me what you hold in that head of yours. Yee must've be desprate. But I really must see the face of those who aproach me or I can not trust them."

"I do not disagree, my Lord."

Removing the head, the rider shook out a thick head of wavy golden hair.

It was a woman.

She smiled, tawny face golden-browned by the sun, freckles marching across flushed cheeks that rested beneath the soft arch of pale brows and warm greengrey eyes that were the color of the sky before a storm. Her broad toothy smile seemed to find it's natrual place beside dimples in either cheek. A thin fleshy scar marred her forehead, but did not detract from the soft natrual loveliness that belied cosmetic or artifice of any kind.

She affected a courteous bow of a pleasant kind.

"Look upon my eyes, then, and see a friend."

Vivek took one of his large hands and started to rub the back of his head as if to signify his embarrasment and lack of preception.

"This was unexpected!" He bellowed out laughing. "Yee're a woman!" He continued on. "I dont mind giving yee'r stead a rest." Vivek over looked the horse in which he thought propbably would have rather run off a cliff side then continue on.

"Honestly I dont know how to react to this situation." This entire time he was trying to avoid looking into her eyes like he previously requested, instead he took to looking up to the sun which was nearing the moutian peaks to the south east. The time was about 7pm on the sun dial and they would either have to move faster to get to town or just take it easy and rest for the night later.

"The night is unsafe around these parts at night. Dusk may not be on us now but it seems like it'll be soon. With that miasma and the strange disapearances of village folk I dont think we're any safer here. So we may need to set up camp soon or hurry up. Though I have my doubts on yee'r steads ability to move on."

A part of Vivek felt a bit heavy as this women had known his name. "I'll trust yee for now love. Though I dont sleep heavy if we do camp." He stretched his arms and continued forward to the city in which he was summoned. "I'm getting to old for these fights, yee know of that Ki?" Joked Vivek in a way to keep Ki entertained. He felt responsable for her as he had for the many people he served with in his past, all which are no longer alive.

"Aye. Does that trouble you too deeply, my Lord?" She quipped, her grin broadly dimpled as the plumed helm was tucked beneath her armored arm. The fading golden light gleamed from the polished workmanship of her chestplate, the filagreed sunbeams seeming to glimmer as if alive.

With her free hand the heavy travelpack was lifted from her burdened mount's backside, and the chestnut beast nickered in pleasure at having such a weight released. The dusty pack sent a plume of hardpacked clay skywards as it met the earth with careless abandon, set on top, much more lovingly, the visored helm.

"The night is unsafe around these parts at night. Dusk may not be on us now but it seems like it'll be soon. "Aye, my Lord, he is weary and would be sore vexed to move further. It would be no safer elsewhere, than here. I have tent and axe and sleeping furs...I shall want for no more."

She patted the beast with a gauntleted hand, armor tinging like wind chimes, and released it's bit and reins to allow it to graze at will. "He'll not wander far, fear not." Almost as an afterthought said, instead of actually reassuring her companion.

Cocking a quizzical eyebrow at him as she bent to release the ties around the pack, she withdrew tent spikes and a large patch-sewn material that gleamed with waterproofing on one side. "What stakes have you in this quest, Vivek, if you mind not my prying?"

"Aye, my Lord, he is weary and would be sore vexed to move further. It would be no safer elsewhere, than here. I have tent and axe and sleeping furs...I shall want for no more."

Vivek looked toward the sky once again. Surely Dusk was coming faster then he had expected.

"I need nothing more then ma' sword and the open sky for the night." Vivek patted his sword sheath as to give off it's presence. The sword was about 4 and a half feet long strapped his belt loosely and balanced so that it was nearly horizantal, that's when he didn't have his palm riding the hilt of the sword.

She patted the beast with a gauntleted hand, armor tinging like wind chimes, and released it's bit and reins to allow it to graze at will. "He'll not wander far, fear not." Almost as an afterthought said, instead of actually reassuring her companion.

Vivek looked at the roaming horse. "Yer horse is your concern and I must say, I think the thing trusts yee. So unless the poor thing is spooked we both should sleep well wouldn't yee say?"
Taking a moments break after what he just said he kneeled and felt the ground. "It may be chilly tonight dove. Be sure to bundle up nicely. I'm naturally from the north so yee needn't worry about me."

Cocking a quizzical eyebrow at him as she bent to release the ties around the pack, she withdrew tent spikes and a large patch-sewn material that gleamed with waterproofing on one side. "What stakes have you in this quest, Vivek, if you mind not my prying?"

"Ma honor, ma debt, ma life..." The still kneeling figure of Vivek, after that thought provoking question struck him, could only be compared to the stone sculptures of artisans. "I have a debt to ma comrades." The brooding look on Vivek's face was truely visable. "It was because of them that I still live. I will protect the Empire they all loved even if it costs me ma life. I will have to smite this Mist that borders it." Vivek stood up and started to rummage through a little pack on his belt. Reaching in he pulled out 3 things in one handfull. A peice of Leather, A Sharpening stone and a rolled up peice of cloth. Sitting down Vivek put the stone just so it was against the sheath that bound the sword he then crossed his legs to put the rest on the ground.
Vivek closed his eyes just for a moment as if in concentration then a rage of sparks flew off the blade of his sword as he quickly drew his sword.

"Do we need firewood?" Vivek asked in consideration to Ki. At this time he was facing her watching her unpack her tent and set it up. Reaching into his over dressing he pulled out a pad of cloth and placed it next to him then continued to sharpen his blade. Sparks would fly as he used the stone, the sound of a humming bell could be heard as he used the leather peice to hone the keen blade to perfection, his blade was made solidly and it could be heard with every thing he used on it.

"Yer horse is your concern and I must say, I think the thing trusts yee. So unless the poor thing is spooked we both should sleep well wouldn't yee say?"

"Aye," she agreed, thrusting the tent spike deep within the hard-packed earth after lacing the last loop through. The tent ended up large enough for three, and though a tall woman, she only bent slightly to enter.

Emurging several moments later, sans armor, she sat cross legged on the hard packed earth. Snug leathers were tightly bound to her Amazonian frame, chain mail draped along gently sloping shoulders and the full upright curve of her bosom, belted to her with an intricatly knotted tie, Celtic in style.

"Ma honor, ma debt, ma life...It was because of them that I still live. I will protect the Empire they all loved even if it costs me ma life. I will have to smite this Mist that borders it."

She nodded silent agreement, removing from her pack the evening meal, consisting of hard travel bread and dried vegetables.

"Do we need firewood?"

"Aye. And fresh water, be there a stream about." From the pack also a deep bowled pot, to which she threw in the vegetables and the cut-up chunks of bread. "I'll find us a rabbit to stew."

Fetching out bait and a slender bow, she nodded farewell and silently moved off into the thicket. The chestnut gelding lifted it's nose from the grass to nuzzle her as she passed, and she murmured a few soothing words to the beast before vanishing into the woods.

Vivek burst out laughing. "And yee know how to cook!" He smiled widely as he continued to sharpen his sword. "If it was left to me I'd go hungry till I reached the city." Vivek was continueing to chuckle. "Yee've quite the arsenal dove. If yee was more then yee I'd say yee was quite the army." Unable to get ahold of himself as he still laughed tohimself as he sharpened, he finally stood up and sheathed the sword then pocketed his sharpening suplies.

"I shall get the wood. Though a fresh water suply?" Vivek listened for a moment then laughed again. "Yee can find yer bunnies pretty close by... but I dont think there's any water anywere close unless yee want to dig a well or drink from that mud puddle up thee way." This brought him to start laughing again. Going south of where they where, toward the miasma Vivek took long strides toawrd a near by forest, his hand on his hilt and the darkness overcasting the land slowly. His intentions were to be quick.

"Yee've quite the arsenal dove. If yee was more then yee I'd say yee was quite the army."

His words found her ears through the forest's thick foliage, dried grasses and leaves crunching delicately beneath soft-soled boots, footsteps finally fading to soundlessness as she vanished deeper within the woods.

She returned some time later, carrying the carcass of a fat brown rabbit, it's ribs cleanly punctured by her feather-butted arrow. Brandishing the bunny's body proudly, she draped it across the pole that held the pot away from the firepit.

"I hope you know how to skin one of these things. I've got another suprise for you."

Disappearing once more into the forest, she emurged some moments after, dragging behind the twisted remains of what looked like used to be a feline carnivore.

Dropping it at the farthest marked point in their makeshift camp, the golden-haired woman rubbed her arm agaisnt the upturned slope of her nose. "Argh. Foul smelling bastard."

Kneeling in front of her tent, her bloody hands were quickly rinsed clean from the water in her side-belt canteen. Thrusting a thumb back at the body of the carnivore, she looked up at Vivek through the thick sable fan of her lashes. "This thing was tracking me as I hunted. Looks as if it used to be a mountain lion. I don't know what it is now...This miasma has gotten to it....twisted it...somehow." A visible shudder ran through her frame and she dragged the back of her hand across her brow, which glittered with sweat "Too close. Almost took me down if I hadn't had the knife. They're not known for hunting humans."

The body of the once-beautiful animal had been corrupted, past injury that would have ultimately led to death. The broken sharp ends of snapped ribs protruded from one of the animal's sides, it's mur matted with infection and dried blood. Maggots crawled gleefully through the mess, devouring the dead flesh. One eye was nearly out of it's socket, hanging on the nerve cords, dried into a shrivled husk. Both front paws had been crushed, healed wrong, and injured again, so extensively that they no longer appeared useable. Cuts and lacerations had marked the cat so much that the fur was nearly gone, only scar tissue and scabs and puss-filled wounds on sunken flesh that hadn't seen a meal in weeks.

It shouldn't have been alive. What sort of evil could madden an animal so much that it would stay on the brink of life, destroying and killing and spreading death like itself?

She glanced once back over her chainmailled shoulder, shaking her tawny head "This miasma's got to be stopped. There won't be anything left, once it's done."

"We should burn the body...Try and get some food in us before full dark."

"Yes you should and quickly I might add. For many more have caught its scent and plan on having it for dinner." Said a young man sitting in a tree. He wore a green cloak and leather armor. The only place that he had no armor was his face.

His hazel eyes scanned their faces and his brown hair, that was tied in a ponytail, bellowed in the wind along with his cloak. His halberd lay right next to him to show that he meant no harm. "Hurry, I can hear them coming."

Vivek had obtained the wood nessesary for the fire. By the time he had returned Ki was still hunting. This allot time for Vivek to sort through the wood to make a small fire. But he did not wish to waste the flame and took his time. Waiting for Ki to return he sharpened his blade.

A visible shudder ran through her frame and she dragged the back of her hand across her brow, which glittered with sweat "Too close. Almost took me down if I hadn't had the knife. They're not known for hunting humans."

Vivek's eyes narrowed down, his now peircing glare glowered at the carnivore. Concern raised on his brow and his jaw mucsle grinded his teeth together as he thought. He was at that moment speachless as he knew but yet was unknowing of what had conspired.

Soon a figure caught his eye which sat ontop of a tree.

"Yes you should and quickly I might add. For many more have caught its scent and plan on having it for dinner." Said a young man sitting in a tree. He wore a green cloak and leather armor. The only place that he had no armor was his face.

Vivek stood to meet the glances of the young man, showing his keenly tone muscle ripple as if he had been previously angered. Deep inside Vivek knew what was conspiring but he was still as of yet in question of this new traveler and yet he still pondered about his current campanion.

His hazel eyes scanned their faces and his brown hair, that was tied in a ponytail, bellowed in the wind along with his cloak. His halberd lay right next to him to show that he meant no harm. "Hurry, I can hear them coming."

Vivek Swooped up his cloth peice he had planned to use for that nights pillow and shoved it within the over clothing he had as his attire.

"Ki! If yee think yee can pack that tent up in 5 minutes do so otherwise leave it here. We can always come back to pick that monsterous thing up later. Besides, yeer horse would be much happier not carrying such a thing and we can move faster." Vivek's former commander instincts where brewing in his memory. He did not wish to let another of his troope fall under his eyes again.

Vivek looked over the horizon toward his destined city, Solana. He took a step toward that dirrection watching the behaviors of the two nearby hoping they'd take notice just as a new thought had entered his head. "Who are yee young one?"

this is a quote from the OCC/RECR section of this thread.

OOC/RECR: Friday March 11, 2005 1:09 PM

Post characters in here so that others may know who you are. Dont go out of hand and make some invicable fighter or mage.

I dont care to reveiw them so you can just jump in when ever you like. Just be sure to let us know what this person looks like and what their personality is like.

And to clear things up. You can be a demon or minion for the dark side. I am suporting both sides in this story. Anything dealing WITHIN the miasma talk to Soaring Eagle. He'll be your DM. I'm dealing with the over all world."

If you would like to join post the character first then play. I dont need to reveiw them before you play them but I will ask to refurbish your character if they are too powerful.
Post the character so we know who we are playing with.
This is not a power campaign and this does have some sort of ending. We allow free reign over what each individual does. But no power plays.
Try to make your own story.

Embittered. You've played well up to this point so I dont have anything against you. Just post a character profile

Copy and paste this link into your browser if you can not actually click it. That will take you to the OCC section of the thread.

http://www.rpgconsortium.com/rpgforums/discussions.cfm?forumid=4&topicid=256831&ooc=1&bookmark=1

You can normally access the OCC but going to the bottom of this thread. There will be a thing that says OCC/RECR then a little box next to it where you can select the page.

Hope that helps you all.

While the men had been talking, she had pulled up the stakes of her tent and rolled the fabric back into a tight bundle; as well as re-donned her armor. Strapping the tent back onto her pack, she hucked it over her shoulder and gathered up the reins of her mount.

"I suppose we'd be partin' these paths then, aye? Seems like anywhere'd be safer than here."

Draping the pack over her horse's rump, the animal whickered mournfully, and she gave it an affectionate pat with her gauntleted hand. "There, old friend, we'll be restin' soon, then."

Looking over his shoulder he spoke kindly to what he now considered his comrades. "I am pleased to have met yee all. Yeer presence here now means alot to an old timer as ma self." Vivek looked sorrowfully to the sky. "I tell you, I'm getting to old for this work. Now hurry!"

Vivek held his sword at gaurd waiting for either pain of battle or the pain of flight.

((OOC note: I am so sorry, but this thread is going in the complete opposite of where I thought it was going to go, and it's really hard for me to keep up. I'm not online a lot, due to my roommate being very ill, and to tell you the truth, this wasn't my first priority. I'm really sorry, I need to withdraw my character from your thread.))

OOC)I will allow it. But in honesty I have to say that this is not moving to my expectations either. I have not had enough contact with my friend soaring eagle to finish moving the world around and create it. I want to do intro logs so that people know what is happening in the world or behind the miasma. At the very least just lets all slow down. Dont move fast and lets all just think of the world together.

Soaring Eagle. I am blind to my own world. When are we going to talk about this? soon I hope because I wont be avalable after the 26th for quite some time.

OOC: Soaring said Greylen had given the go ahead. Since they happen to be friends, I fugure that should be alright.

Yes I told Soaring to end this. It started with un unfinished world. He asked me if it was ok to leave it to the thread enders. Go ahead. I will watch it. I will make a new world when I have my life stable again. "A New RP"
