Hmm, I've looked over some of the things here... Seems a little different than what I'm used to.

So I'm wondering:

What is usually accepted in terms of RP substance?

Is this board based on small ideas that are put together, or do new RP's open with a 13 page setting/history/info for recruitment?

I'm thinking about starting an RP here, but I'm debating which one to start...

Extremely Brief Premise of both:

Fallen World:

This was a widely popular RP from where I'm from, but it would be an idea taken from someone else. Futuristic earth- North vs. South. Billion man battle devastated much of the world. You play foot soldiers in the south's army.

[EDIT]This has an opening of 9 pages[/EDIT]

Project: Atlantis:

Meteors strike mid/south California. Most of Cali sinks into the ocean. Atlantis rises in the Pacific ocean, a plague wipes out/changes most of the human population, and monsters of all sorts plague the misty landscape. The only hope is to survive for the remaining humans.

[EDIT]This has an opening of 6 pages[/EDIT]

You don't need an unusually long introduction, try to have a look around as well to get an idea on how things are run, such as my newest Amplitudo Lupinus

as far as your two story lines, both are cool, but I feel perhaps you may get a better response for the second one.

also the HTML format is not [] at least on this half of the boards anyway :D

Where I come from, the best advice we give is 'lurk and learn'...

But while I'm asking questions:

-Is double-posting widely accepted here? Or is it frowned upon.
-What do typical RP's focus on? Setting? Character development? Plot?
-It appears that some RP's start up right away with their story, along with recruitment. Is this the norm? Do players usually recruit first?

I'm sure that I have more ?'s, but I can't remember them right now...

Double posting is fine. As long as they ain't one-liners. Some posts are so long that you just gotta break them apart.

Depends.

Yes, it's the norm.
