01/12/2005 9:17 PM
The sand had risen above its usual level, obliterating everything below Taiden's waist. The massive Rayapar enjoyed the view of the canyon in the midst of a lowscale sand storm. It was beautiful. His right hand rested on a massive black sword sheathed on his back, his other hung into the sand. Being eight feet tall wasnt too bad in the desert after all.
"So, you ready for some more?"
He turned to face the source of the voice. It was settled on a rock above the blowing sand, scratching it's face and preparing to get up. Taiden's armor was being rattled by the sand and his cloak was blowing out behind him. The storm was getting worse.
"Are you sure you can keep your footing in this? You barely get above the storm midget."
He reached down to his waist and pulled out two shortsword sized daggers linked by a chain. He let the chain unravel from the magical mechanism that shrank it or lengthened it as required. Taiden also assumed a largely defensive stance, folding his wings closer to his body so as to not be pushed by the wind.
"Ok, lets fight, your turn I believe."
They had been fighting for a while, not out of bloodthirst or anger, but because there was nothing better to do ina desert, especially when two lone travellers meet by chance.
While the sand blew all around the pair, Vincent tightened his mask; it had almost flew off at the last blow he received from the Rayapar. Without his mask he would go blind in the sandstorm, unable to open his eyes against the stinging sand. Then there was the wind. His agility alone kept him from being blown over by the strong gusts, while his adversary barely seemed to notice the raging power of nature; it was hard to keep his balance while being harassed at the same time.
Vincent tightened his hold on his twin short swords after adjusting his mask, slowly stalking towards the lumbering giant. "You are quite an adversary," he called out through the wind. The Rayapar gave a nod. Then pulled out an odd looking weapon, two short-swords attached by chain. Vincent knew that while he could maneuver around the swords for a time, the chain could easily entangle him. He slowly made his way forward, re-enacting the last battle and contemplating his battle plan.
He sprinted full out for the giant, swords down low.

"Your surprisingly good at fighting in the elements and fending off someone my size. Last person your size i fought was terrible."
Taiden brought a heavily booted foot up, kicking forwards with little force, enough to knock the charging fellow off balance. He followed through before he was sure he had hit, launching the magicly blunted sword with surprising mastery for its size. Then again it was a dagger to him. He realized he had missed and stumbled when a blow hit his leg. He pulled the sword back, almost hitting the ground but unfurling his wings. This had the effect of pulling him back and off the ground. After he was in the air he closed his wings and thudded to the ground, bending his knees and falling into the storm, before raising up again and blinking the sand out of his eyes.
"And you hit incredibly hard too."
He crouched lower to the ground, leaving his head above the cloud and holding his swords in the sand. The stance was definitely defensive, this guy was almost too small to hit, and all but invisible in the blowing grit.
(OOC, hope you don't mind. I need to work on my battle writing. As you can tell it's not the best. Oh, and what race are you?)
"Have you heard the story of the Bear and the Wolf my friend?" Vincent called to the giant. "It is said that the Bear, in all it's might and fury, underestimated the Wolf, and with that estimation the Wolf was able to use the Bear's strength and brawn against him. There is nothing wrong with having the brains," he was yelling now, the wind had picked up again, and with it his attentiveness.
"I have faced many opponents, but none I believe as good as you," Vincent yelled at the man, running at the giant with his back to the wind. Those two deadly twin short-swords were again lowered, crossing each other at perpendicular angles. It was all a ruse though, as the giant did just as he expected, trying to kick out at the smaller man. Vincent dove beneath the out-reached leg and came up behind-
-nothing! The giant that had been standing there had suddenly disappeared, simply gone with the wind. His keen warrior senses told him that something was amiss though. Vincent quickly dove to the side as a huge sword cut through the air, right were Vincent had been standing.
He was up again and running as soon as he hit the sand, not knowing of where the giant had gone.

(OOC: No problem, mines kinda bad too. A Rayapar is a giant with pebbly black skin, black eyes, occasionally wings, spiky bone ridges instead of hair, and massive strength. kinda like a nightwalker with a mouth and back muscles. just a question whats your race, human?)
Taiden jumped in the air, pinpointing the running (human/elf?) and sending a whistling sword infront of it, compensating for his speed. He dropped to the ground, reefing on the sword, pulling back towards him. If he had hit it would come easily, if not, it would be imbedded in the sand instead of laying on it. Taiden dropped below the sand completely, squinting his eyes and becoming difficult to see.
Vincent barely had enough time to dive to the side as the Rayapar's sword imbeded into the ground. Reacting on pure adrenaline and his training, Vincent sensed the blade coming and dove to the ground, turning over as his speed carried him.
He quickly got up and went back to inspect the blade, then the chain slowly started to tighten. Vincent layed flat on the ground as the chain tighten and pulled the sword out of the sand, hurling it over Vincent, who was now rolling away from the blade.
"Interesting," he said to himself as he watched the blade fly over him. "This one has tricks."
01/13/2005 10:08 PM
Taiden heard a faint voice over the wind and smiled. He rose slightly, noting a large warp in the sand where it blew around vincent. He knew it did the same to him and that would be a problem if the human got him on the run this fight. Taiden began to commando crawl through the sand, reducing his sand warp but not eliminating it. He came within striking distance and leapt in a tackle, scissoring the blunted swords to catch the human across the chest.
Vincent's chest expelled all of the air in his lungs as he was hit hard by the blunted sword; sending him flying backwards hitting the sand some twenty feet away, rolling head over heels. He lay there trying to regain his breath and composure, this was indeed a worthy adversary.
He quickly rolled to the side as the giant flew down from the air, sword ahead, and struck the sand where Vincent had just been. Regaining his footing and trying to keep from fainting he stood back, swords crossed in front of him ready to defend himself.
The giant came on, sending his wicked sword in sweeping arcs around and in front of him. Vincent dodged the attacks and deflected a few, knowing that if he was hit again he would surly collapse. Sparks flew from the collision of the opponents weapons, momentarily causing a stall mate as the blades became locked. This was all he needed, he slowly burrowed his foot under the sand as the two stared at each other, eye to eye.
Instantly, Vincent sent his foot flying into the air with a back-flip, sending a temporary wall of sand in-between the two. As the sand dissipated, Vincent was nowhere to be seen.

(OOC: I'll give you a tip ive learned from various flaming episodes, dont take over other peoples charchters. Alot of people get steamed about really small stuff like how the wind catches someones hair. I find dont even refer to the charachter your up against unless your defending an attack that demands it. Like i said in fernwood, i dont care unless i get killed because of it but just some friendly advice in case you run across naki or someone like that in your roleplay travels.)
Taiden crouched below the sand, cursing in his native toungue. This guy kept getting smarter. He pulled a small glass chunk out of his many hidden pockets and threw it randomly, hoping for a hit. Otherwise he was ready to block and beat the second someone came within reach of him.
01/14/2005 11:42 PM
(OOC Oop, I did it again. Haha. Sort of new. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks for the advice.)
Vincent had quikly run around the giant as the sand blocked their view, and ducked behind a dune. He peered over the ridge and saw the giant likewise crouched. Vincent slowly made his way toward the giant with his short swords angled down towards the ground.
The wind had picked up agian and almost cost him his balance, and probably would have given away his posistion. He saw the giant pull something out of his pocket and throw it, then immediatly heard a loud explosion which sent even more dust into the air. Vincent continualy stalked towards the giant's exposed back, hardly even breathing.
01/14/2005 11:54 PM
(OOC: No problem, feel free to pass on tiny pearls of wisdom you pick up. everyone gets a warm fuzzy feeling that way.)
Taiden knew something was up, but didnt move. Instead he crouched lower to the ground, lowering his wind resistence and causing the sand to spray over his back. A clear giveaway to his position. It wasnt his life on the line and bruises healed. This was his invitation to come and get him. The sand swirled behind him, creating a strange wave effect and throwing the grit everywhich way.
Vincent came on through the strange sand wave, his swords out in front of him. He quickly dove foward through the barrier, his twin short swords out in front. Vincent saw the giant's back as he came through the sand wave, hitting down and front-rolling to get back to his feet and launch himself at the exposed backside of the giant.
01/16/2005 6:17 PM
"Good hit friend."
Taiden flew off his feet, shooting forward three feet with the impact. He twisted his roll, turning to face Vincent and looping the chain around his foot. The to swords he launched strait at Vincent with startling speed.
Vincent was caught off guard at the sheer quickness of this nimble giant. In an instant, the giant had wrapped its chain around Vincent's foot, which pulled him to the ground with a ferocious strength. In the instant Vincent hit the ground, he quickly kicked his feet up and landed nimbly on his feet-
-only to see a pair of swords coming straight for his head. Vincent launched himself backward as the swords were inches away; one clipping him in the shoulder and sending him spinning in the air, the other went flying by above him harmlessly.
Vincent lay there as pain erupted all through his shoulder and down his arm, he wasn't sure if he would be able to use the arm skillfully for awhile. “Damn, that hurt,” he said to himself, gritting his teeth through the pain.
01/16/2005 7:46 PM
Taiden pulled the claymore off his back and advanced on Vincent, then walking by him and retrieving the chained twins. He retracted them and sheathed them. He then turned back towards Vincent, bringing The Judgement Day up to his waist, holding it with slight effort, even though the thing weighed a few pounds less then Vincent did.
Vincent was unaware of the giants movements after he had hit the sand. He was still holding his shoulder as he moved to his feet, cautious of going unconscious as each wave of agony shot down his arm. He looked back up to see the giant, now brandishing a huge claymore in one hand, standing directly in front of him.
"I regret that I do not know the name of the man that is such a skill-full warrior," he called to the giant, trying to stall him as he regained his composure.
01/16/2005 8:12 PM
He fished another chunk of glass from his armor and shot it as fast as he could at vincent, his wings flaring in the wind, adn dragging him backwards a foot. He closed them and prepared to fend off the imenint retaliation.
Vincent barely noticed the movement until it was nearly to late. He leaned back as the glass shard came flying at him, barely getting one of his short swords up to deflect it harmlessly aside.
"Well met, you are a worthy opponent," Vincent responded to the giant before rushing at him. Though this time, Vincent only came on with one short sword; that last hit he recieved had indeed left the other unusable for the time being.
He dove to the sand and rolled to the side of the giant, launching a quick thrust for its belly and retracting the blade quickly, getting out of grabbing distance of the huge giant.
01/16/2005 9:17 PM
Taiden tried to get his claymore in front of Vincent's sword but the blade, while large, was slow. He felt the wind go out of him and it was all he could do to stop himself from going to his knees. He sheathed the claymore, it was too slow for this work. He adopted a strange open handed stance, empty of weapons.
"Aye, you too."
He shifted his weight on to his back foot, angling to counter rather than strike.
01/17/2005 11:47 AM
Vincent stood before the giant as the wind swept sand around the two, his cloak out behind him waving in the wind. He crossed his arms over his chest, wincing at the pain. His left shoulder had taken quite a hit, now unable to move. He sheathed both of his short swords at the apparent stall.
Vincent reached around to the back of his waist and pulled out a bandage, wrapping his arm around his torso to keep it from further injury. As he finished, he looked up at the giant, who was now weapon-less, and patiently waiting for the next attack. Vincent grinned behind his mask, as he slipped his hand up his shirt.
His hand quickly closed around a dagger and he subtly pulled his hand out of his shirt, concealing the dagger in his palm. He sent the blade flying, cutting through the wind and sand for the giant's chest.
01/17/2005 5:39 PM
Taiden swated the flat of the blade with his left hand and leapt strait at vincent, delivering a swift kick in the direction of his stomach, but with very little power.
Vincent was not at all surprised as the giant thwarted the incoming dagger aside, it had been meant only to distract the man. However, he had not expected the giant to act so quickly, coming right for the smaller man.
Vincent saw the outstretched foot come flying in for his stomach, and immediately dropped down to the sand on his back. When he hit the ground, he immediately began his roll and propped up on one side as the giant touched down. He kicked with all of his might at the back of the giants knee, hoping he could get the behemoth off balance.
01/17/2005 8:34 PM
Taiden went to his kness, eye level with Vincent. He snarled and lashed out with his left hand, driving to knock vincent below the sand. That was crafty of the human, knocking him down. He would have to watch for those tricks.
Vincent rolled to his side as the giant came crashing down. With his fist out in front, the giant's hand caught Vincent's cloak and held on tight. He barely noticed as he went to rise, only to be yanked off of his feet in a blurring instant and slamming back down into the sand.
01/18/2005 4:31 PM
Taiden rose to his feet, drawing the two sword and wainting for vincent to get to his feet. This was a good way to pass time, he got so little adventure these days. And this human was an exceptional fighter. He equalled him in many ways. The storm began to die down, the sand settling and only blowing around taidens knee.
"A pause before the storm perhaps?" Vincent said to the giant, a smile windening under his mask as he got back to his feet. He did not immediately draw his weapons, but instead looked at his aching shoulder. "It seems that you got me pretty good awhile back," he stated, never turning his gaze to meet the giant’s, instead keeping complete concentration centered on his injured shoulder.
It felt like it could have been popped out of place, though he wasn’t certain.
01/18/2005 7:14 PM
"Theres always a calm before the storm. If you need to attend to your shoulder, go ahead. If you cant use your arm, then its going to be a hard fight."
Taiden began spinning one of the blades in a figure eight, holding it by the chain and lengthening it or shortening it as he saw fit.
"Ah, now that feels better," Vincent said aloud as he finished bandaging his shoulder. He began to send it out every way, testing it's flexibility.
"Seems like its usable," he muttered, knowing that it was not back to normal. "Oh well, you ready for round three?"
Vincent was looking at the giant, smiling under his mask. He slowly unsheathed his twin swords as the wind began to pick up a bit, sending his cloak out behind him and sand dancing in the air.
01/19/2005 4:31 PM
Taiden threw the swords strait up, catching them on their descent with the blades facing the ground and the chain coming out of the top of his fists.
"Sounds fun, lets go."
Taiden turned, focusing on the task at hand. Ignoring his own shredded cloak which had blown from behind him and was currently being a pain in the neck. He suddenly shifted his stance to a far more open one. The Nightwalkers had attempted to use this on him, but he had already learned it in the mines. He waited for vincent to come after him, adapting the defensive side of Black Grudge.
(So your a nightwalker or a rayapar?)
Vincent stalked in a circle around his opponent, trying to pinpoint a weakness. There seemed to be none. Vincent lunged forward, swords down low, striking for the legs. He quickly reversed his right sword though, instead angling it towards the giants chest at the last moment. His left sword stayed true to the mark, seeking out his opponents quad.
01/19/2005 6:22 PM
(Taiden was enslaved by nightwalkers, hes a rayapar)
Taiden felt an explosion of pain in his leg, the muscle knotted up and freezing. The sword to his chest had been a simple block. The chain was snagged on the hilt which was annoying. He ripped backwards, putting a sizeable amount on his charlie horse. He barely kept his balance, he was likely to fall over. He drove down onto his left, releasing the sword in his left hand and stopping his fall. He pulled with his right hand, trying to dislodge Vincent's sword if he hadnt already.
Vincent felt his sword bit into the Rayapar's leg as the higher one was easily deflected. Vincent's right sword went flying out of his hand as the Rayapar stumbled, and quickly withdrew the other. He stood back a moment before lunging foward, shoulder first.
01/19/2005 7:10 PM
Taiden still had one thing to his side. Brute force. He pulled his fist back and rammed it strait at the oncoming shoulder, hoping to knock Vincent back. With his other hand he pushed himself up, kncoking the armor over his knee, trying to get the blood flowing again. He stood up, his legs shaking, but his balance was still funcional. He brought his swords up to regular level.
Vincent easily dodged the giant's blow, side-stepping the large fist that shot out for him. He noticed the giant regiaing his balance, and quickly retreated to where his sword had dropped. Running towards the sword, he dropped his hand as he passed and picked up the fallen blade. Vincent spun around quickly, his cloak flowing behind him in the air, and brought his swords up in front of him.
01/20/2005 7:05 PM
Taiden flicked the right sword at vincent, reaching behind his back and pulling a small metal disc he had stolen at the mind. He pulled the sword at the last minit, hurling the disc like a frisbee strait at vincent's head.
Vincent stood up, swords in each hand, to be greeted by a sword projectile. He calmly ducked the blade, it was far to big to go fast enough in this environment. Though what he did not notice was the second missile, cutting through the wind and sand as if it was paper.
The disc flew true to the mark, nicking Vincent on the neck. If he had not titled his head a bit to the side he was sure that it would be on the ground right now. He slowly pulled his swords up into a defensive position, still a little stunned by his brush with death.
01/21/2005 7:49 PM
Taiden Watched the disk turn and fly ove vincents head. He caught it carefully and shoved it back into his belt. That little toy always came in handy. He span the swords around his fingers before he charged Vincent, pulling back at the last second and swinging the swords in a scissor motion at his stomach.
Vincent saw the giant charge, saw him pull back and swing his two swords down low (for a giant) at Vincent's stomach. Vincent barely got his blades up in time to block the attack, however the giant displayed more speed and agility with the second sword than Vincent though possible.
Vincent retracted his left sword, while the right still blocked the giants left, and deflected the giant's incoming blade at the last second, sending it at an awkward angle towards Vincent's ribs. Vincent accepted the blow and somewhat eased it's impact by rolling with the swords momentum, coming up to the side of the giant. Vincent quickly shrugged off the pain and launched a flurry of attacks at Taiden.
01/28/2005 4:56 PM
Taiden felt a series of thuds on his back armor before he registered the pain. He whirled, wincing as the armor dimpled painfully into his spine and lashed at vincents head with a closed fist. He also pushed forwards, bringing his fist to perfect striking angle.
01/30/2005 12:35 PM
Taiden's hand connected firmly with Vincent's face, sending the man's mask flying off into the sand and leaving Vincent sprawled across the sand. He slowly rose to his feet, squinting his eyes to keep the sand out.
He could only make out the outline of the giant as he brought his twin swords, falling into a defensive stance that relied more on warrior sense and hearing than it did vision. Vincent had learned this from an old, blind knight; he was glad that he had meet the man as he closed his eyes, falling into a battle trance.
01/30/2005 3:34 PM
Taiden cocked his head. Fighting blind huh. He shot one of the two swords at Vincent, holding the other at his belt and preparing to retaliate. He quickly pulled his last exploding glass out of his armor and prepared to throw it at the blind foe.
