Well hey all. I finally get to post another one of these because part 2 is actually over! Can you believe it? I sure couldn't, thanks to everyone who made it possible. This is going to take place a month or so after FF2 and we'll have some new characters and some old ones. This is our version of the 5th age and the aftermath of the Chaos War. Swift will be posting some more stuff so please wait until then before all you crazy kids jump in here. Have a good night everyone and don't stop dreaming.

PS: I am not going to have an OOC message thread because I feel it would go away from the roots of the original Future Fellowship.

OOC:

Oh my god. After almost two years... a Future Fellowship 3. Man, it's almost impossible to believe that FF2 had ended. Heh, will this become even longer than its predecessor?

I'll post something tomorrow regarding the events of Krynn after Chaos War. And to those who weren't involved, or didn't follow the story in FF2, our Chaos War was definitely different, and gazillion times better than the lame 'war' that was in Dragons of Summer Flame. *spits on that book*

It's shocking....beyond shocking.....after all this time, it's over. I can't believe it, one of the greatest Dragonlance stories ever has ended....well, we will just have to make sure this one is better then that:D
(don't spit on DoASF! It was better then WoS, at least)

All right. Here's this. There will be many posts coming up to tell y'all what happened since the Chaos War (the events in FF2). Lemme try to begin first. Yes, there will be MANY story arcs in this thread, so feel free to join any that you're interested in.

The New God Of Darkness
After Takhisis' noble sacrifice during the Chaos War, a mysterious otherworldly liche had seized her throne from the other dark gods (Chemosh, Sargonnas and Morgion) and made himself the new God of Darkness. His constellation now burns brightly in the sky, replacing Takhisis'. However, the three contending dark gods have also disappeared shortly after the liche's ascent. What will happen to their followers? What actually happened to these gods? And most of all, who is this new god of darkness, and what will he do to Krynn?

(This should be the main arc happening in FF3. I assume all arcs should interwine and come here towards the very end.)

Silvanesti
The Chaos War had made Porthios a hero among all elves, and his relationship with his wife was getting better. The traitorous Gilthanas remained a prisoner in the place, while Danae, the young and blind daughter of Nilkalin, who was once controlled by Chemosh, stayed in palace too so that the elves can keep a close eye on her. As she was rescued by the ghost of Kaz the Minotaur, Porthios believed that she might still have a role to play in the future.

Right now, Porthios is desperately trying to rescue QUALINESTI, that had been covered by a thick deadly fog during the Chaos War (thanks to the pact Gilthanas made with Chemosh) and also cure the Qualinesti elves, whose forms and appearances were altered by the fog. To his surprise, the first person to volunteer is the visiting Gilthas Half Elven, son of the legendary Heroes of the Lance (slain during the War).

(To join this arc, create champions that will accompany Gilthas in his quest.)

Knights Without A Goddess
Now that Takhisis is dead, what can the original Knights of Takhisis do? They may have fought courageously during the War, but they are in a dilemma now. Who will they follow? Who will they serve? What are their roles in Krynn now? It is all up to the human leaders of the knighthood.

(Should be a flexible arc.)

TO BE CONTINUED...

I would Mind taking a hold of a part in the knights of Takhisis without a god now. After the war of the souls, some of the knights became bandits. I could make them follow another leader and i will roleplay as Linsha Majere.

What do you think?

Can't.

Our Chaos war is vastly different from the one in the book. This war happened only TEN YEARS after the events in Legends trilogy.

Besides, Palin didn't exist in our storyline either, Caramon and Tika were still childless.

Flandrake
09/14/2004 11:27 PM

OOC: Also, I would think the knights would still be concerned with their wounded leader Rithas. Pherhaps we could have some sort of Rithas' dream world be an arc.

Solmanic Knights

Considering that Devin is not dead (hurrah for me) I will place him in Palanthas for the time being. He would be rebuilding The High Clerist Tower and fixing up all of Solmania. People can easily play a Solmanic Knight of any order that could be one of Devin's personal guard or a leader/member of a group sent to the borders of Solmania.

eswiftfire
09/15/2004 1:45 AM

Solamnic Knights (continued from Flan's post)

Yep, for the time being, the Solamnic Knight will relocate in Palanthas while they want to fix up all their mess in Solamnia. Lord Gunthar probably had retired as Grandmaster and given Devin the title.

OOC: I'm going to try really hard to stay on top of things this time.... perhaps by not being responsible for too many characters. ;) Avalyn has been missing since the battle in Palanthas, right? Because I'd like to work with her again.

eswiftfire
09/15/2004 10:41 AM

OOC: Yep, and both Lucas and Gilthas are looking for her. As the latter had found out that Avalyn played a hand in his parents' deaths.

Legion of the Dead

A mysterious army of ghosts and other undead creatures led by the dark elf, Dante, and the human, Lucas, arrived midway during the Final Battle against Chaos, helping turn the tide. This army is supposedly under Chemosh's control, but now that the god had mysteriously disappeared after the War, the two mortal leaders are finding a headquarters from themselves and the army.

At the meantime, Lucas is also searching for his former minion, Avalyn, as she could assist him greatly in his evil deeds. :D

(Hmm... not sure how to join this arc, unless you want to play a death knight of sorts in the Legion. But for the time being, they'll remain mysterious, with people hearing about their rumours occasionally, but not actually seeing them.)

Shattered Tribes

Shortly before the Chaos War, and while the Dark Knights were intending to unite the entire continent under Takhisis' rule (so the fight against Chaos will be easier), they managed to turn Que-Nari against the other barbarian tribes, sparking a civil war. In the end, the tribes scattered to different parts of Abanasinia, while the chieftains were all captured by the Dark Knights.

Fortunately, some heroes managed to rescue these chieftains from the clutches of these Dark Knights, and with the help of some hill dwarves, the Dark Knights were defeated. Unfortunately, Goldmoon fell into a coma after discovering a new form of healing to save a minotaur. After that, the united forces of the plainsmen and the hill dwarves managed to liberate Thorbadin from the dark dwarves (who were in league with the Dark Knights).

Hill dwarves and mountain dwarves buried their centuries-long feud, and followed the plainsmen to the final battle against Chaos at the Irda Island.

However, the tribes were still scattered, Goldmoon remained in her coma.

The Ergothian emperor had sent the two highest-ranking members of his army, Kevin and Zero (originally a plainsman, but became a lord as he helped exposed the Emperor's brother, Prince Arslan's treachery to the public), to Abanasinia to aid Riverwind in his attempts to fix things.

(Not too sure how to make this arc work, to make things interesting, the Legion of the Dead might have chosen this place as their new headquarters, thus causing endless disturbances?)

Remains of Graygem

Well, during the Last Battle, Takhisis deceived the brothers, Space and Time (Gilean's chosen ones) into teleporting half of the Graygem (and Chaos) away. Unfortunately, poor Airiana was dragged into this too. So, the three ended up in the Graygem realm, along with the mysterious and supposedly dead thief, Happy.

Trapped in the Graygem, lost to the world of Krynn, with the scary threat of another attack from the remaining half of Chaos, the four are desperately seeking a way to escape now.

OOC: Hahaha, nah, those pictures are from the anime DN Angel, no way I can draw stuff like this!

As for Rashitan, shortly after she and her bro were rescued from the floating citadel by Gerad, Parvatis, Squall and Marduk (the latter two died in the last battle, by the way), some fog came and took her bro and her away.

Hehe, well, I can go do more pic huntings for the characters! :D

Actually, in FF2, i used Johnny Depp's photo for Space, but changed it for this thread. :D

Okay, I'm in, even if it's the only story I work on....

Character:

Jadrek Drache
Age: 98
Race: Pureblood Vampire (Asuli)
Hair: platinum blonde (worn long, sometimes tied back)
Eyes: Blue-violet
Build: Average
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 196

History: Jadrek is the elder son of Ayeka and Alucardt(Aidan) Drache. He mostly searches the land for his younger sister, Kiri, who was abducted by Jadrek's twin (Adrian) after the murder of their parents.

Abilities/equipment: Jadrek has some mage abilities, and can cast minor elemental spells, no more than that. His expertise lies with the use of his sword, and he prides himself on his tracking abilites, a skill he learned from hs bonded V'ylusher Wolf, Saia. for more info on some of the terms i've used go Here (http://groups.msn.com/threemoons/ayekadrache.msnw" target="_blank)

I dunno where you'd like him, just OOC: and let me know. I really want to develop his character, and haven't had much of the chance to do it.

09/22/2004 8:38 PM

OOC: I'm going to go ahead and start because my story arc will just be me for a while... and I might as well get going on it. Someone might join my story arc as Amadeus.

So much didn't make sense... what had happened? All Rashitan remembered was the citadel, Nilkilan, the others... the rest was fragmented. Suddenly there had been fog, and now here she knelt, her dark blue hair lank with the heavy mist. Water oozed around her fingers pressed into the mossy ground, chill like liquid ice. She felt that one burden had lifted, but another had replaced it. She couldn't feel the gods' hatred at her presence on Krynn. Instead her mind was heavy with hopelessness, loneliness, and she felt so very lost. Her true self was fading, seeping from her being as if the ground was sucking it from her flesh. What was happening...? Where was everybody? Melancholy shook her being at the thought of them.

"Amadeus?" Rashitan said, her voice soft.

stabile007
09/22/2004 9:30 PM

Amadeus:
Age: 1500
Hair Color: Dark Blue Short anime style hair
Eye Color: Matching blue eyes
Skin Complextion: Fair
Build: Fair build muscular side
Weight: 176
Height: 5' 11"
Relationship: Twin of Rashitan
Sex: Male

Thanks hun for the character :)

"Rashitan!" cries out Amadeus "Where are you?"

The fog too heavy to see very far in no more then several feet had an eerily cold feeling to it, one that chilled Amadeus to his bones. After ascertaining his situation Amadeeus starts wandering blindly through the fog calling out for his sister. Finally he deicdes to stand still and listen carefully. He listens for a bit hearing crickets and other wildlife around him. After several minutes (As time was now lost to him) he hears a faint noise likes someone calling his name.....

"RASHITAN?" Amadeus shouts "Is that you!? I am coming!"

With that he takes off after the sound.

Nerautis
09/22/2004 9:38 PM

Rashitan cocked her head slightly toward the sound, her eyes straining to pierce the white mist. She remained perfectly still, waiting for the slightest shadow of movement to appear. "Ama?" She called.

stabile007
09/22/2004 9:49 PM

"Rashitan!? Id that really you!?" Amadeus comes stumbling out of the mist towards Rashitan and gathers his sister up in his arms.

"Well I am glad I found you dear sister" exclaims Amadeus

Nerautis
09/22/2004 9:54 PM

"There you are!" Rashitan almost sobbed, uncontrollable emotion choking her throat. Even though Ama was the sadistic little tease he was, she was inexplicably glad to see him, anyone. Of all things in the universes she hated being lonely. After a moment she said, "We need to get out of here. I feel like we've spent an eternity here and it's beginning to really get on my nerves."

stabile007
09/22/2004 10:04 PM

"For once I will not argue with you. Do you have any idea where we are?" questions Ama "Where are we to go....I am really lost" Ama sighs. He glances around not seeing much differences in the any direction. Everything seemed the same and he didn't notice any path.

"Hopefully sister you know where we are..." Ama asks

Nerautis
09/22/2004 10:35 PM

Rashitan could see that Amadeus was just as disoriented as she felt. She shook her head, indicating she had no idea which way to go. "Maybe we should just oick a direction?" Rashitan turned away starting walking in a random direction. No way seemed to be any better than this way. When she stopped to cast a glance over her should back at Amadeus, the ground shifted beneath her feet. "What--" The ground completely crumbled away, and Rashitan fell into darkness without a sound.

"Blast it!" Came a voice in the darkness. And with a sharp word of command, the entire place lightened up. And a black-robed elf stood before Rashitan and Amadeus. "How did you two end up in the Tower of High Sorcery?"

Studying the two with a frown, the elf shook his head. "You two are of another world too. Seems that we have quite a number of those these days. Of course, I haven't met any since the War had ended. I am Dalamar The Dark, master of this tower."

OOC:

Yeah, I'll assume that Rashitan and Amadeus were sort of thrown into the future, after the Chaos War had ended.

Oh, and you people may choose to start wherever you want right now, the story arcs will come to you. I'm so totally flexible.

Nerautis
09/22/2004 10:56 PM

OOC: Yeah I'm assuming time elapsed really quick in that fog to the present time.

"Um... hi. I swear this was none of my doing! Honestly. My magic has been gone for a while now." Rashitan stood up shakily, her body strangely weak. She stumbled a little and slapped a hand on Dalamar's shoulder for support. Shamelessly she yanked it away. "Sorry bout that."

Flandrake
09/22/2004 11:04 PM

OOC: Kalia, you could work with Lash around Abanasinia. I would guess he would go back there and do ranger type stuff. They could have met before or just be meeting. Considering the problems occuring in Abanasinia they would have no problems finding story arcs.

Gerad could work with Parvits unless you have something else in mind. In that case he'll go back to the knights at Palanthas.

Smitly and Jumper will return to Mt. Nevermind or City of Lost Names if the gnomes wanna rebuild that place.

Cassandra is back with the mages at the tower.

Rue was heading East back home.

Grehrack was a dwarf from the North but his whole scouting group was killed so he would do whatever. He's probably staying in Palanthas for a bit or maybe in Abanasinia.

Dante is already explained as is Devin.

Flandrake and Dragoth are a mystery and will turn up when needed. They are probably training to be ready for the next war but who knows.... not even the one who controls them does....

I hope I didn't leave anyone out...that info was for everyone including myself.

"Dally? What happened?" A redheaded woman burst into the room, then seeing the two newcomers, she gave a shriek. "Agents sent by my father!"

"No, Jenna." Dalamar replied coolly. "I doubt they know who your father is. It is surprising that they would appear here, considering the numerous defensive wards I've erected around the tower."

Jenna sighed. "I can't believe you two are reduced to this, fighting each other like babies all because of me. What will the other Conclave members think? To see the Head of the Conclave and the Head of the Black Robes battling like this?"

"Bah! He started it." The dark elf snorted. "I KNEW he deliberately held on to the Head of the Conclave position even though the War had ended JUST to spite me."

His blue and gold eyes scanned the northern horizon, or rather what he thought was northwards anyway. It was difficult to tell, for he had no perception of time passing, no idea of direction, every where was just as equally barren, dead...save for the odd outcropping and hideously twisted tree or rock, but even these seemed to swap positions and could not be trusted as landmarks. Despite this, Time attempted to make the best of the situation, if such was possible. His power had a limited effect here, and he doubted Spaces' was of great use either, though having Airianna with them, their chances proved greater of escaping, surely with their combined might, they would find a crack in the gem...... or make one.

Rustling his wings, a few feathers fell to the ground, he paid them little attention however, thinking on other matters, such as his added inability to commune with Gilean, his God and Lord. Guilt seeped in every so often, for their last conversation had been less than civialised....on Time's part anyway.

The past few months had seemed interminable. After committing several bloody murders at the bidding of Chemosh, Avalyn had regained control of herself and escaped to the Solamnic countryside. Hiding out in a country inn, she prayed to Mishakal for forgiveness and guidance. Days were lost in prayer and tears, and still no answer came. Eventually she gave up.

Though she dared not call upon her clerical powers, Avalyn was well versed in the more mundane ways of healing. When she heard that the old witch-woman of a nearby town had died, she quickly moved to fill her place. While the town's inhabitants were surprised by the appearance of the exotic half-elf and her pet squirrel, they accepted her in their own quiet, reserved way. They needed her services, after all.

Avalyn tried to resign herself to this life, tried to forget her part in the horror of the Chaos Wars. Travelers and refugees passed through the village, and she asked no questions. She didn't want to know what had become of the world. Her goddess had forsaken her - she had failed.

OOC: That's where Avalyn is, and the state she's in. If you want me to get her anywhere else, just tell me, Swifty!

Jadrek sat uneasily in the saddle of his mother's favorite mare. The black battle horse snorted and tossed her head in irritation. The path ahead split in three ways, and at the moment, he couldn't make his mind up on which direction to choose. He toyed with the ring that hung from a chain around his neck, the ruby flashed in the light of the sun. two other objects glittered on the chain, a pendant whose crest was identical to the ring he wore on his right hand, and a shimmering golden stone that protected him from the glaring light of the sun.

A pale gray colored wolf sat at the hocks of the large mare. She turned her bluish eyes towards him and whined. He ignored her, and brushed a lock of platinum colored hair away from his eyes as he studied the signs. He sighed, really having no clue on which way to turn. He had definitely been on the road too long. Finally he leaned foward in the saddle and whispered into the mare's ear. Nytehart's ears flicked back towards him, as if to catch every syllable, and then Jadrek sat back down, dropping the reins against the mare's shoulders, closing his eyes.

"Alright then, you choose." He said. The wolf snorted as if she had found it an insult that he hadn't consulted her, and Jadrek smiled wryly. "It's her turn Saia..." He said without opening his eyes. The mare snorted and made a soft sound that vaugely sounded like laughter. Then with a toss of her head, the mare turned to the left, following the southern most path.....

A_A I don't think you understand the way the knights are now acting. Rithas, the leader of the remaining Dark Knights (most of them were killed) made a pact with Devin (The head guy of the Solmanic Knights). Rithas was struckin unconcious by a demonic dagger near the end of FF2. Currently he is fighting a battle inside of himself which will decide whether he lives or dies. And to what extent of both. Devin would give The Knights of Rithas leave to the East but for now they are still in Solmania. The Dark Knights under Ariakan were all killed and if any are left they would just be trying to survive.

Lash came through the woods into the road, "Finally. Chemosh's trechory runs deep in the heart of my elven kin. They've changed a lot of the forest here," he quickly shook his head, "Your talking to yourself again..." He turned down the path and started walking. Hopefully he could get a meal today. The poison of Chemosh had spread beyond the elven capital of Qualinost and through the elven forest. The humans closest to the elven lands had been moved East but Lash was unaware of what was transpiring in his long forgotten home of his younger days.

The sightings of undead brought, of course, no comfort to this ranger. He could not protect these people with such a small force. The plainsmen and dwarves were busy rebuilding their homes. Lash had enlisted some to help but few were well trained...The only thing the brought comfort to Lash was knowing Porthious would soon come with renforcements...that is if the elves could ever get away from the kender. Lash stopped. He could faintly here something coming down the road.

Lash ducked back into the forest, in these strange days you never knew what could be coming up the path.

OOC:

Then one night, a sudden fog blanketed the town. In the milky dreamworld whiteness, sounds were amplified and echoed strangely. An entire army could have moved unseen through the thick cottony wreath, past silent houses where townsfolk lay tossing in their beds as nightmares nurtured from their deepest fears held them fast in restless slumber.

However, in truth, only one figure wended its way along the streets that night, gliding silently over the cobblestones, and every now and then skirting a tumbled pile of bricks where a house had been destroyed in the Chaos war. There were many of those. The town had been prosperous once, now its inhabitants eked out a miserable existence from amongst the ruins and ashes.

Finally, the figure came to a halt in front of new witch-woman's dwelling. At the merest touch of its hand, the wooden door fell to dust, and it swept inside, ducking under the too low lintel...

Avalyn sat up in bed, suddenly awake but not knowing why. She glanced out the window and saw only fog. She tried to peer through its pea soup thickness, but could see only the vaguest of shapes. She got up and ventured into the next room, Squidget creeping fearfully behind her. She gasped when she saw that the door has disappeared, and took a few steps backwards towards her room. She turned toward the corner where she kept her quarterstaff, hoping to ward off what might come. It was then that she saw the shadowy figure watching her, mere feet away.

Jadrek allowed the mare to gallop at full speed, his mind wandered as he rode, half standing in the stirrups. He had heard much unsettling news about the world when he had awoken from the sleep that his only confidant in this world had forced upon him... in hopes that he would awaken with his sanity more or less intact than it had been when she had sent him under. The brutal murder of his parents, and the abduction of his younger sister had nearly driven him mad.

That alone would have driven him to things that he normally wouldn't have considered doing... but the fact that all those attrocities were commited by his own twin brother, Adrian, had him doing things that would forever haunt his soul. He suppressed a shudder and a moan of dispair when he thought of what he had done, the deaths, the innocents he had killed in attempt to avenge his parents and find his sister. He was no better than Adrian....

His mind turned completely away from the path ahead, relying on Saia to warn him of any problems, he allowed his mind to tred in misery...

Saia had looked to her bonded for a breif moment before dissapearing into the brush that lined the forest road, she was worried for him, knowing the dispair and misery that his own mind tormented him with. She lowered her nose to the ground, taking in the scents as she ran, keeping abreast of the mare as the horse raced along the path. Saia caught an unfamiliar scent... Mortal.. and her howl pierced the silence, shaking Jadrek out of his reverie.

Thanks! Speaking of which, I think I'll join up with Jadrek, if you don't mind. Different char, though.

Name: Kaigara Namikashu
Race: Elf
Age: 48 (which equivilates to 16)
Hair: Silver
Eyes: Purple
Past: Kurai was an orphan, raised in Silvanesti by a minor noble's family. During the Chaos War, she was seperated from her foster family, and resolved to finally see the world. She is rather naive, though not as snooty as many Silvanesti.

In your post, Saia said she smelled a mortal, so can that be Kaigara?

I guess so :) Though I had originally intended it to be Lash, but it works too.... ;) may actually work out as Jade may need a 'donor' now and again through the story *devilish grin*

Airiana had rested for what had obviously been a long time... long enough that she was completely replenished, both mentally and physically. And yet... it was as if hardly any time had passed at all. The Greygem... it is not the same as Krynn... time and space are different here... she opened her eyes at that thought, looking from Time to Space and back. This place must distort them too... since that which they rely on is not constant.

The dragoness stretched out wings that had not moved for some time--how long, she was not sure, but it was long enough for them to be stiff. She stood and stretched the rest of herself, one limb at a time. Once she had done so, she let herself transform and become her much smaller elven self. She eyed the almost-constantly changing land around her warily.

"Well, I am rested now... and I would think that it would take less time for the two of thee to recover, so I assume that thou art as well... and since it is the two of thee who hast been here before, tell me... what should we do now?"

"Can... o... ar me????" a voice drifted across the nothingness that was the inside of the Graygem.

...

The voice ecohed within the confines of his own mind as it did across the barren wastelands of the Greygem Realm.....where had he heard it before? There was something oddly familiar about it, yet though he racked his memory for the source, Time could not remember. Despite it possibly seeming strange, he spoke up, his own voice projecting through the dead air. " Who are you?! I cannot understand..... "

Elven ears perked at the voice that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere, and to Time's response. Who... or what... was that? She wondered, stretching out her senses to find something, anything... but to no avail. The constant change of landscape made her efforts a waste of energy and she stopped with a sigh.

"I have a proposition for you. Your goddess no longer speaks to you, and my god has need of experienced clerics. Perhaps an arrangement can be made?"

It kept its distance to keep her at ease, arms folded unthreateningly across its chest as it awaited a sign from her that she understood and wanted to continue the conversation.

In the Prancing Horse tavern, Kevin sat at the bar with Zero, finishing his tankard of ale in one gulp. "Ahhhhh... the war had made me forget how good the ale here are. Let's enjoy a few more tankards first. We still have an hour and a half before we meet the Emperor."

Behind the duo, people were staring at them in awe, in respect, in reverence, if they had a culture where they can ask for autographs, this would've happened already. After all, Kevin and Zero, the two highest-ranking members in the Imperial Army, their heroics had became part of Ergoth lore. In fact, bards were singing about their achievements right now. Though Kevin, being the modest person he was, felt slightly uneasy about it.

Avalyn hesitated. True, Mishakal no longer spoke to her. The goddess no longer demanded her loyalty - yet Avalyn felt compelled to give it. She dedicated herself to Mishakal long ago, and had remained true to that for so long. What she ready to give it up in the blink of an eye?

Then she sighed. She had already made that decision - the goddess was gone from her heart. The prayers she said were empty, insignficant. Like her life. This stranger offered her a chance for something more. She decided to take it. After all, it couldn't turn out any worse than it already had.

"Tell me of your god." she replied.

A slender form lay on the ground, curled into a ball, wrapped in a gray cloak. Silver hair spilled over the ground, like trapped strands of moonlight. Surrounding bushes screened her from the road.
Kaigara shivered in the cold night air. Something had woken her up-but what?
Hooves. Clopping hooves. A horse.
Kaigara sat bolt upright.
Friend or foe? Did it matter? The young elf had seen many things since leaving Silvanesti, good and evil. If it was a peddler, or a tinker, perhaps she could ride, but what if it was something else? Another of the dark knights?

A wolf's howl split the silence.
Kaigara's almond shaped eyes widened in terror. She slipped between the scrub that hid her, scrambling to the base of a tree. The elf turned, her purple eyes glinting in the moonlight, searching for the source of the howl, whether it was a lone wolf, or part of a pack.

OOC: Well I guess A_A will take my spot opening. I can meet up with you two later.

Lash waited inside the trees. The setting sun would soon sink beyond the border of Qualinesti. This worried Lash. Night was no longer the friend of this skilled tracker and hunter. He crouched down and slowly drew an Egrothian blade from his side. During the Chaos war most of his weapons had been lost or destroyed aside from the the blade he used in his demonic form, which he carried on his back. His hero status allowed him to gain many new weapons. From his boot he withdrew a curved blade of elven make.

He scanned the down the road and saw the rider coming. Lash could not see the riders face or tell what race he was because of the heavy cloak wrapped around him. The horse was an unatural black. It's eyes seemed to glow with red fire. The rider passed Lash and then reigned his horse to a hault. He dismounted and with a hissing voice uttered the words, "Show yourself half breed!"

Lash stepped out of the woods and in the same motion threw the curved elven blade. The cloaked figure raised a wrist and the blade was deflected. The cloaked figure laughed and withdrew his hood. Lash first noticed the long elven ears, "You can still be saved cursed one," Lash said.

"Saved? Maybe you are the one who needs to be saved... What has your world done for you? Nothing but force you to take up arms," the cursed elf began to laughagain then flung away his cloak. Lash eyed the sword at the elf's side and wrist guard which had knocked away the dagger.

This was enough for him, Lash charged forward. The figure drew his sword and met Lash's blade with his own. Lash moved to the side and took a step back. The cursed elf moved forward pressing Lash into defense. After a number of defended stikes Lash flew into an attacking combo. Lash moved his blade to the left with a slash. He moved his wrists forward as if coming for another attack but quickly moved them down and pushed for an upper cut blow. The elf fell to the ground a deep gash in his chest. Lash moved over and stood above him.

"The cursed darkness that flows through your veins will hopefully be gone when you reach the next relm..." Lash walked away and only heard mumbled speech coming from the dying elf. Lash stopped, the horse had gone. He knew the battle would not have scared it, if anything it would have joined in to attack Lash. What had happened. Lash heard rustling in the bushes. He quickly jumped to his elven dagger and moved into a defensive position.

Lash looked behind him, the body of the dead elf was gone...had this all been a trap? Had they been waiting for him? Questions raced through his head as the first arrows flew from the trees and sped towards Lash.

Jadrek had heard the howl as clear as if Saia had done it right into his ear. He frowned and reined in Nytehart. The black mare snorted in protest but slowed her racing pace to a walk. Saia had poked further in and was now standing in front of Kaigara. The large gray wolf fixed her silvery blue eyes on the elf before her, no malic in her posture, as if she knew this child could do little harm to her. Saia lowered her body to the ground, trying to convey an image of friendship, all the while sending images of the girl to Jadrek.

Jadrek finally slipped from Nytehart's saddle, and 'ground-tethered' the mare, allowing the reins to dangle. He caught every nuance of thought from the V’ylusar wolf. He didn't really think that the girl would cause trouble, but he loosened his sword in its sheath just the same, decades of fighting taught him that too many things weren't as they seemed. He moved through the brush with the silence that rivaled any elf in the forest, and stepped into the tiny clearing where Saia stood before the girl. The blue of his surcoat was nearly black in the silvered night. His hair gleamed a muted silver, and his eyes darkened with concern when he saw her.

At first, Jadrek couldn't think of anything to say, at least nothing that didn't sound patronizing. Instead he motioned Saia and she trotted over to his side, leaning against his legs as he knelt down. "Sorry about that, Saia tends to be protective of me." He said, his voice a deep tenor, melodious. Saia snorted and took his hand in her teeth, gently biting down in a reprimanding manner.

BIC: Zero slowly sipped his tankard of ale. He pretended to be listening while his mind was thinking of something else, the past. Ever since that fateful week, things had changed for Zero. He could remember it all like it was yesterday. For that week, had changed him into what he was right now.

His heart was pounding, sweat beating down his body. He was running, running from a group of black-clad figures. Why they wanted him, he didn't know, yet. He glanced backwards to see if they were still behind him and noticed that they had stoped. Thats when he knew he had walked into a trap.

He turned to look forward and his face met with a Great hammer which nocked him unconcious. A black clad figure stood over him and with one hand held the Great hammer, and the other grabbed ahold of Zero and started to drag him away...

He then snapped back to the present and continued to drink his tankard of ale.

A child shivered in the desolate surroundings within the greygem. She had long golden hair, it tumbled freely in waves that hung well past her shoulders. She wore clothing that hinted at a high status, a child of a large holding of some sort. A pendant glittered around her neck, and her slim hand curled around it as if seeking protection. The girl moaned and curled even more tightly into a ball, her eyes opening.

Her eyes were a warm, golden amber, and the moment they focused on their surroundings, they filled with fear. She sat up and then groaned, bringing her hand to her head as a wave of dizziness swamped her senses. She slowly stood, her lanky form frail in the empty landscape. She had no clue where she was, or how she had gotten here...

Memory flickered for a moment, a race for freedom that had her heart pounding in fear... then the horse stumbled, screamed.... She fell... it seemed that the fall would take forever... and she woke up. Here. She looked around, the mists that surrounded her made her shiver all the harder.

"Hello!? Is anyone there??" She cried, tears suddenly filling her eyes. She never before felt so alone, even since that horrible night five years ago when... She shook her head, refusing to remember the horrible way her parents' had died, it would only serve to send her into hysterics, and that was the last thing she needed now...

"He is a sheperd of lost souls. His flock is drawn from scattered sheep abandoned by uncaring masters glutted on plenty. You made but one simple error in judgement, and were cast aside after a lifetime of servitude because of something that was not entirely your fault."

"Tell me, does that not seem harsh to you?" Outside, the fog thinned enough to reveal the night sky from the window and the new constellation that burned there, a skeletal hand with outspread fingers.

"Behold! The sign of Halbros, an outstretched hand offering succour to the forgotten and neglected. Like you, for instance..."

Kyri shivered again, but she wasn't sure what emotion triggered it. Fear and elation.. they warred with each other, and came to a draw... Fear of being alone in this unknown place.. elation that there was someone else here.

She turned her head in the direction she tought she heard the voice and called back.

"I do not know here I am!! I can barely see anything! Please! I don't want to be left alone!!" Autophobia... fear of being alone had plauged Kyri for the last five years, Adrian left her alone often, and the there was an emptiness in her soul that nothing could ever fill again. She had vauge images of a cuddly little wolf cub, and the pain that seared her mind when that poor, nearly defenseless creature was killed.

Her mind tore away from that line of thought, for she knew where it ended and she dared not think about it, not if she didn't want to slip into a panic attack. She shook her head, not even fifteen, not even of age, and she suffered panic attacks at the merest mention of her parents.

Her mind strayed down an avenue it knew was safe, Jadrek. Oh Gods, where was he? Why hadn't he come for her? Had Adrian gotten him too? She supressed another shiver and called out again.

"Please!! Please don't leave me alone!" She was crying now, her fist closing over the crest pendant that used to be her mothers, the garnet's faceted edges biting painfully into her palm.

"Behold! The sign of Halbros, an outstretched hand offering succour to the forgotten and neglected. Like you, for instance..."

Avalyn gazed at the constellation for a moment. Its sudden appearance made her think of the legends of the War of the Lance - and how closely the gods were represented by the stars.

She felt herself fighting against the stranger's words. She did feel lost, alone, abandoned. She felt as if she desparately needed what this god offered. But she would never again dedicate her heart so fully to something beyond her control. Gods, after all, were very much alike. Mishakal had offered comfort and hope as well, all those years ago.

"I'm not neglected." she responded, a bit more spitefully than she'd intended. "My goddess has left me, but I know not why. The Chaos Wars have changed much - who knows what befell the gods themselves? It is not for us to question their decisions."

At this, even Squidget looked skeptical.

Avalyn continued. "But I will serve your god in the only way I know - as a healer. Any god of good has need of those that serve, and that I will do. What does this Halbros require?"

Jadrek studied Kaigara, realizing that she was quite alone here. The hunger within him flared white-hot for a moment, before he forced it back. She was alone, but that didn't make it an excuse to loose control. He fought with the beast within, driving it back, keeping it at bay. All in the barest instant of time.

"Sure, I'm always a sucker for ladies in distress..." He said smiling, offering her a wink. "Come on, my horse can get impatient when I leave her like that. He turned and led the way.

Nytehart snorted in greeting, and Saia was sitting next to the mare's large hooves. The mare caught the girls scent and her ears laid back.

"Nat'ah'hi!" He spoke the word sharply, and the mare snapped her head up, ears forward, dark eyes fixed on Jadrek. After a long moment, the mare relaxed, and lowered her head to pull at the grasses at her feet. Saia sneezed giving the vauge impression of laughter.

::very funny... go on, scout ahead fuzz head...:: He sent to Saia.

The wolf stood and padded away a bit before looking over her shoulder, her blueish eyes reflecting red in the moonlight. ::Yes oh fanicful master of the world...:: She jibbed back, the amusment she felt written in every line of her posture before she dissapeared down the trail.

He turned towards Kaigara. "I'll warn you though, Nytehart here is a hard ride even at the best of times..." He said as he slipped his foot into the stirrup, and swung himself into the saddle. He shifted, and leaned over, offering his hand to help her up.

"Just put your foot on mine and I'll pull you up."

Jadrek helped her settle into the saddle behind him, instructing her to wrap her arms around his waist so that she didn't become unbalanced. He noted how little she spoke, as though she had seen too much of the world's cruelty. He sighed and turned Nytehart back to the road, tapping her flanks with his heels, he urged the mare into a smooth canter. "Hi'Na!"

The mare neighed and picked up her pace without really loosing much of the smoothness to her gait. "I hope you do not mind my prying... but it is rare to see an elf out alone, especially of your age... What has happened to you Kaigara?" He turned his head so that she could hear his question, but kept his gaze on the trail ahead, Nytehart may be used to running near blind in the dark, but his vision was much better than hers. Somehow he felt drawn to this lone elf, that she somehow was a sort of exhile as himself...

He noted of the cold and spoke up again. "Behind you against Nythart's rump is a rolled blanket, use it if you need to..."

"I hope you do not mind my prying... but it is rare to see an elf out alone, especially of your age... What has happened to you Kaigara?"

"I was raised in Silvanost by a noble family. I was seperated from them during the Chaos War, and I have been travelling since then."
She shivered, drawing the blanket closer.
"And where do you hail from, Sir Drache, if you do not mind my asking?"

09/26/2004 1:03 PM

Jadrek was silent for a moment, and then sighed. "My family comes from a valley hidden deep in the Kalkist mountains. My Mother and Father were the Lord and Lady who watched over the people of that valley and another not far away. They were killed five years ago, and I was forced to leave our Shenchel to rule in my stead so I could find my sister..." He let it go at that, for he closed his eyes at the painful memory of Kiri's abduction.

He might have gone on, but he never had the chance. A teltale whistle of arrows reached his ears, and he heard Saia howl in warning. The mental images he had recieved from the wolf weren't something he really wanted to face, but Saia was out there, and he couldn't leave her behind....

He drew his sword and urged the mare on, her gait shifted and she thundered down the path at a speed that made Jadrek tighten his legs around her girth, hands wound tightly with the reins.

"These two used to belong to my former students. Now, this is certainly odd, where have you two been during the Chaos War? I would've felt your presence if you were at the Irda Island for the final battle."

Avalyn continued. "But I will serve your god in the only way I know - as a healer. Any god of good has need of those that serve, and that I will do. What does this Halbros require?"

"Lies, all lies!"

Suddenly, five armoured skeleton warriors burst out from the ground, weapons drawn, circling around Avalyn, facing the mysterious cleric.

"Halbros is no god. He is just a pretender. Our lord Chemosh is the true god of darkness! The rightful god of darkness! Join us, cleric of Mishakal, do not let him seduce you with empty promises." One skeleton warrior rumbled in a deep voice.

Without another word, she turned towards the girl's voice. "Hello! Dost thee know where thou art, youngling?" She called as she started to move towards the voice. "Be not afraid, I shall find thee... just speak and I shall come!"

Cold. It was so very cold, and in the dim light she could see that the roots of the tree that formed her prison were rimed with frost. She could not remember how she came to be imprisoned in this hollow in the ground beneath the roots of a huge oak. For that matter, she couldn't remember anything at all.

Then, from somewhere nearby, she heard voices.

"Help! I'm over here!!!" she cried desperately. Someone called back in reply, and she raised her voice again, calling out desperately. "I'm here!!!! Help me!!!"

The figure shifted a little at the mention of the word 'good'. "I'm not quite sure you understand. The Chaos war has changed many things. With Takhisis' death, the balance had been radically altered. Light now holds the upper hand. As such, it is only reasonable that Halbros should help to put the balance to right..."

"However," the figure hastened to add, "healing is an important clerical duty, and it is one of the many blessings granted by Halbros."

"Lies, all lies!"

Even as the figure spoke it raised its hands, crackling energies swirled and formed around them, then leapt and surrounded Avalyn in a protective cocoon.

"You shall be safe in there." The figure said reassuringly, then added, "But you may need to find a new dwelling place when this fight is done."

Avalyn was beginning to have serious reservations. Unfortunately, she was no longer in a position to ask questions. She watched the skeletal figure, hoping that the creature's words were true and she was indeed safe. With her clerical powers gone and her quarterstaff a room away, she was all but helpless.

She had served good before, and look where it had gotten her. She still believed in good - believed strongly, in fact. But she wasn't so sure that she wanted to buy into the distinctions of the gods. Chemosh was evil - made so by his actions, not his status as a "god of evil." She wasn't really sure where he fit into this. But she was willing to serve anyone who promoted what she saw as good. For the moment, this man's offer appealed. She was quickly finding herself to befuddled to consider this more deeply.

Lash raised his sword and blocked one arrow with the flat of his blade. Several others whizzed by cutting through his clothes and leaving trails of blood slowly moving down his body. Lash heard the last *twang* of the bowstrings, the first volley was over but he only had minor seconds to act before the second volley shot forth. He could already hear the sound of bowstrings being pull back as he fled to the right. He dove into the ground narrowly dodging several arrows.

Lash stopped for a moment and looked down at his left arm. A deep gash went along his bicep. He glanced back into the rough road and saw his elven blade. he had dropped it when he got hit. Lash shook away the pain. Another volley would soon come and would not have time to dodge them all. He moved deeper into the forest but within sight of the road. Trees all around Lash were cluttered with arrows. Lash sheathed his Egrothian sword and drew out the blade from his back.

He had not transformed since the great battle on the Irda Island but he seemed to have no other choice in this instance. The blade flashed a dark redish black as Lash's eyes glowed orange. He ran forward obscuring his body with an strange black mist. He soon found the cursed elves and moved through the trees to come upon them. Several elves were standing on the road, they had come from the west side of the forest. Lash continued to cut down the cursed elves who wished to see the ranger's dead corpse.

Just then an arrow went through the mist and embedded itself in Lash's shoulder bringing his slashing motion to a hault. The black mist slowly vanished from around Lash's body. He dropped the sword and looked at the arrow, What cursed magic is this he thought. He moved back with his left hand, his arm being slightly healed from his demonic rage, and grabbed a dagger. With swift strikes he finished off three more elves and looked out into the road to see a cloaked figure riding away, longbow swung over its shoulder.

Lash had little time to think as a volley of arrows from the elves on the road flew at him. He jumped behind a tree and wondered how he would get out of this. He glanced back at the black arrow that seemed to have sucked his power away. He grabbed it and thought for a moment. He pulled the whole arrow out, head and all. Blood poured from the wound. Lash moved to a puch and grabbed a cloth and held it to his shoulder.

He looked down at the arrow and broke it with the heel of his boot. Lash could feel his strength growing but he could also hear and see the cursed elves moving closer...

"You are mistaken." The figure said impassively as the blades of the skeletal warriors plunged deeply into its body. Upon contact waves of crackling energy washed back over the blades and into the mass of undead, incinerating them. A stray arc of lightning flicked over a nearby pile of books, setting them on fire.

"I came here to offer her a choice. That is all." The figure continued speaking, reaching up casually to pull a blacked sword blade from its chest.

"Solamnic." It observed, seeing the Kingfisher worked into the design of the hilt. "Another traitor. It seems Chemosh's ranks are filled with treacherous curs." It sent the blade spinning away with a dismissive flick of its hand, where it whirled through the air to lodge frimly in the wooden rafters.

"Now," it turned to face the other newcomer. "suppose you tell me your name before I deal with you in like manner, that I may inform your master which of his worthless minions needs to be replaced?"

"That is for her to decide." The robed figure said. The remaining half-dozen or so blades still stuck in its chest glowed white-hot, then melted. Streams of liquid steel flowed down the front of its tattered black robes without any adverse effect, dripping down to scorch the floorboards at the figures feet.

It called back to Avalyn. "Cleric! I have been remiss. I know your name yet you do not know mine. I am Schiro. Would you go with this dog of Chemosh, whose acquaintance with you led directly to your current situation?"

Avalyn felt more certain than she had in a long time. Here she had two choices, not many. Or one....as the case had been during the Chaos War. Whoever this Halbros may be, he had to be better than Chemosh. Anyone was better than Chemosh.

"Please!! Please don't leave me alone!" She was crying now, her fist closing over the crest pendant that used to be her mothers, the garnet's faceted edges biting painfully into her palm.

Poor child, Airiana thought, rushing in the direction she heard the voice coming from. "I won't! I'm coming, child!"

Kyri trembled, and finally the fear of being alone overcame her rational sense of staying in one place, and she began to walk. She prayed that she was heading in the right direction...

The dragoness was getting worried.. the girl had stopped talking, and she hadn't found her. Seeing that the landscape had stopped moving around so much, Airiana attempted to search for the girl with her mind. After a few moments, she could feel someone's distress and homed in on it.

'Be not afraid, littling,' she projected. 'Do not move. I come for thee now.' With that, the dragoness transformed and took to the sky, now afraid for the child, feeling how strong her distress was. It was not long before she spotted the girl wandering off in the opposite direction. She spiraled down and landed, transforming back to her elven guise before going over to the girl.

"Do not worry, child... thou art no longer alone."

"I will never serve Chemosh."

Schiro nodded at her words. She hadn't said that she would serve Halbros, given the trouble her past alliances had gotten her into, that was probably a wise decision on her part. Nevertheless, she HAD denied Lucas' offer to rejoin him, and that gave it leeway to act in this situation.

It made a quick gesture with its left hand, and then both it and the cleric (along with her squirrel) were teleported to a small hill overlooking the town, just in time to watch as her old dwelling place exploded in rather flashy (if small and tightly contained) explosion, a pillar of blue fire roaring up into the sky. Nearby windows shattered, while the fog that had wrapped thick tendrils around the town dissipated.

"I'm sorry about your domicile. His sword was a most puissant weapon and this was the most efficient way of resolving the situation. If you are still hesitant about pledging yourself in service to Halbros, perhaps a journey with me would help you make up your mind?"

It held up a small leather pouch that clinked with the sound of many steel pieces. "I will offer you recompensation for your home of course, irregardless of what choice you make."

"Why can't you hear me!!!!", she screamed frantically as she tugged at the roots of the tree and scrabbled at the hard packed earth. Heedless of the rocks and pebbles that cracked her nails and tore at her delicate hands, she only sought to escape her prison.

"It'ssss no use, my sweet."

The sudden voice in the tight confines of the hollow startled her. She crouched down low, peering fearfully around and finding no one. Had she imagined it?

"Sttttt. Pfth. Look up, sssssilly thing!" the voice hissed, a hint of exasperation in its tone.

She did, and finally had a face to match with the voice. Sharp and long and with eyes black and round as river stones, all polished and gleaming. A great many eyes.

"No! Don't screa-" it managed to get out before her panicked screams drowned out everything else.

"I thinksss I can hear again." It said, much later, from where it crouched over her supine form. Thick sticky webbing pinned her down and gagged her. The taste of it in her mouth was foul. She watched it with wide and staring eyes.

"Halbros is not from this world, nor am I." Schiro replied. "The tale of how he came here is a long one and better suited for the journey ahead. As for what he wants, I do not believe even HE is clear on that matter. His concerns now are to reestablish the balance and build up a clerichood."

"Which brings us to where we're going." Schiro waved a hand at the village. "Ideally, I would believe such a place to be ideal for starting a new religion, but the times are rather uncertain, so we go to establish a temple in Palanthas. It has survived the Chaos War rather well, and has a respectable religious base."

"It will also be interesting to gauge the reaction of the other gods to their new peer."

OOC: This promises to be an interesting arc. Trying to preach "evil" in a city with the Temple of Paladine and Devin's Solamnic Knights just around the corner. Of course, the resident "evil" population in the likes of Dalamar the Dark might be willing to lend a hand, but with Lucas continues his mad acts of pillaging and plunder, it might still be a little hard to convince people to accept clerics of "evil" right into their midst instead of forming lynch mobs and burning them at the stakes. :D

Space scowled. "Don't get too close. This kid might be a manisfestation of Chaos. Trying to trick us once again, eh?"

On the other hand, Happy was staring at another direction. "That's rather odd. I thought I heard another voice over there. Oh well, guess I'm just hearing things. :D:D:D:D"

Airiana looked at Space from over the girl's head. "I don't think so..." She projected the images she'd gotten from the girl to him, along with the feelings attached to them. "She's so emotional right now, she's projecting these... this is a sad and lonely child, not a manifestation of Chaos." She said quietly.

Looking at Happy, she nodded. "Aye, that there was... to the West of here... I felt this child's pull and her sorrow and had to come to her aid... I am sure Time has gone to see about the other... and I suggest that the two of thee do the same. Once the girl has calmed down, I will come along with her."

OOC: Yeah, had thought to find the girl first with Airi, should have made that clearer in the post. Anyway.... I'll head west then, makes things a little simpler after Airianna having stated Time went that way. That ok?

Also, I think I may bring back Yarimanna, High Mage from another world, uses the Warrens of Sorcery.....swifty knows what its about. Either that or create another char for another arc.....we'll see....

OOC: Absolutely brilliant for both ideas. Love Erikson's stuff, but still have yet to get my hands on his new novella. Bugger.

BIC:

A cow grazed sedately on a clump of grass nearby. From where the man crouched inside the hut, he could just barely make out the shape of his captors hunkered near the River. It flowed through the air around waist height, a stream of blue fire that flowed past the transplanted section of Irda village and then vanished into thin air, just past the corner of his hut, no doubt into another piece of the Graygem.

Escape was just a sprint away. If he could just get Downstream of the River.

Unfortunately, his captors would kill him the moment he tried anything. He'd seen one of them take down an Irda yesterday, another poor soul that had been sealed into the Graygem. The poor bastard had been filleted the instant he stepped out from Upstream of the River, his steaming insides pooled around his feet even before he could think to draw breath to scream, bones neatly picked out by razor sharp claws and stacked into a nice, tidy pile.

Nope. He was just going to have to sit here and wait for help to come. He considered trying to contact them and warn them again, but there were limits to his resources, and maybe, just maybe, he could use them to help in another way...

Time, heading in a different direction from the others, followed the familiar voice without hesitation, his curiosity gaining the better of him. Spreading his wings wide, he leapt into the stale air, noting that although few currents ran in this air, he could still have use of his flight. He would cover more area from a higher altitude, and so sought the source of the voice, his own power now burning bright in his eyes so as to help find the source if possible.

Some distance away, the river of blue flame flowed acros the desolate landscape. In this fragment of the Graygem, it was only a tiny span stretching a mere 50 meters from its point of origin to its vanishing point. The entire stream flared brilliantly as something entered this Shard from downstream.

It was a living piece of darkness like noon-day shadow. It sniffed the air, smelling something coming its way, and sank silently into the barren ground in waiting...

Kyri clung to Airiana for a long while after her sobs abated. Her mind finally processed that someone had come for her, though this someone was a stranger, perhaps whatever fate was in store for her now would be much better than what Adrian had planned for her. She shifted a bit in the woman's grasp, and fixed her amber colored eyes on the landscape...

"Where am I?" She asked softly, hiccuping, not realizing that her pendant had slipped free of her tunic, and glittered in the dull light...

Jadrek slid from Nytehart's back, issuing a sharp, foriegn command as he turned towards the sound of battle. The mare stiffened under Kaigara, ears forward to catch any nuance of sound. "Nytehart will protect you... She's trained in such situations, all you have to do is stay in the saddle, she'll take care of the rest!" He shouted to Kaigara as he dissapeared into the brush.

He stopped dead in his tracks as he took in what he saw. "What in Sirrion's name has happened to Krynn while I slumbered?" He muttered to himself.

"Fair enough." Schiro replied. "We best hurry now. It seems your former associate was harder to kill than I thought." Lucas' incoherent screaming drifted up to them from the village below.

Schiro whistled, a sharp piercing sound, and two horses cantered out to them from the darkness, already saddled. Schiro climbed effortlessly onto the coal black stallion, and indicated that Avalyn should take the bay gelding.

OOC: This is inside Rithas. I hope it works/sounds good.

Rithas turned his head back but kept running. It felt like he had been on the move for days, non stop. He had to stop and breath but the demons around him would not allow rest for their weak prey.

Rithas seeing the black winged creature behind him turned his head back around and kept running with no hope in sight. He needed a weapon, his sword! If only he had his sword...

Lighting cracked across the sky. Rithas could hear something falling to the ground. He feared it to be another flyer but was unsure. Another bolt of lighting shown upon the blade of a sword embeded in the ground...Something is on my side here... Rithas thought as he went and took the hilt in his hands.

Rithas turned and a dim light shown from the blade. The creature came down to strike at Rithas but he was ready with his sword raised high. He ducked under the swoop and stabbed up with the sword. The creature screamed and fell to the ground.

Rithas slowly stood, "Though I walk through the darkness my will shall never diminish!" Rithas could feel a sudden movement. He blinked and when he opened his eyes he was on a cliff surrounded by mountains. He looked up at the sky, it was still covered in darkness. Yet somewhere a strange greenish light flowed. Lighting would streak acorss the sky followed by thunder.

As Rithas walked down the hill he felt the cold drops of rain hit his head and shoulders. He did not bother with the rain that soaked through his black tunic. Instead he worried about the growling coming from what seemed like all sides...

OOC2: BTW the whole bit with the farmer was awesome!

Zero wasn't truly paying attention, his mind was wandering the past as Kevin talked about reforming the government. Zero had almost finished his tankard of ale as he thought about the past, his past.

Zero was chained to a gigantic rock with strange ancient tracings on its surface. Along with another gigantic rock that had the same tracings as the one that Zero was chained to. He lifted his head and scanned the area. He saw that the black-clad figures had brought him into a clearing of the forest. He then noticed that the black-clad figure that had attacked him was tied to the other rock and seemed to be fine with it.

A tall black-clad figure walked up to the one chained to the other rock and said, "Sir, we are ready to begin the ritiual at anytime. Would you like to begin now?" The black-clad figure tied to the rock said, "Yes, begin immediately." The tall man turned and said," We are to begin immediately." Then 5 black clad figures went to both rocks and stood before the two chained to the rocks and started to chant an ancient ritual.

"What do you want with me." Zero spoke over the voices of the ones chanting. "I only need you to release the ancient power stored in this rock, then I will kill you." Said the black-clad figure tied to the rock and Zero could only see a smirk from the insane man...

Zero decided that now was not the time to keep thinking about the past because for some reason Kevin was thinking of reforming the government. "Kevin, I think it would be best if you had the great Astinus write your book. Now, shall we go and meet the Emperor?"

As always, to see the solace often found in the empty loneliness of fading into obscurity, the woman entered the tavern. She was a scarlet vision, monochromatic in that hair and clothing both were of crimson hue. Tresses had been pulled from her face and bundled into a neat affair of pins and ribbons, strands of pearls and pendants of diamonds all decorating the single bun that contained such a vibrant mass. Curls fell gracefully from beneath the confection, lending elegance to the petite thing. A wool velvet cloak lined and hemmed in ermine fur obscured the majority of her clothing, the broach that clasped it closed a cabochon ruby set in silver. Skin was pale, nearly transparent in its whiteness, eyes were emerald, lashes dark and long. Cheeks sported tiny, scarlet scales, so fine they might have been chips of garnet and affixed there lovingly by a maid of some sort. Ears were long and addorned by nothing, pointed like an elves, though her petite stature might have suggested otherwise. She took stock of those that were not present and seemed secure in the knowledge that the tavern was empty. No hint of emotion painted her serene, yet saddened, face, having absolute control over the display of such things was quite the boon. Eyes lidded momentarily before finally striding over the threshhold into the room proper.

Sedately, her steps were quiet as she moved into the tavern, claiming a seat at a table nearest to the fire, as always, never feeling as though she could be warm enough. Years spent in the home of divinity had only deeply enforced this thought within her, though, she would have gladly traded away life now to be back there. Self exile was harsh, but worse still were visions of that home now ruled over by Takhisis's lasting legacy. Someday, her life would stretch beyond the course of her time spent with that dark whore, and perhaps even someday beyond that, her memories of the Queen would fade, blissfully, giving her a lasting solace finally. Graceful, slender fingers lifted to rub against her forehead, expression coloured by what grief remained within her, having little care to mask emotions to people who would never see in the first place. Timelessness had never bothered her before those fateful days, eons ago, it seemed. If Paladine had never slaughtered his dragons, and Takhisis her own, if they had never caused the remnants to go on search for their brethren... She sighed quietly, dusky lashes falling against the glittering scales upon her cheeks as her thoughts plagued her again. It was a torturous rhapsody, thinking of those times and reliving them as her memory would never forget what had brought her the greatest joy. It always ended the same, the same wrenching sorrow as she saw again the torment as the blue struck down the silver, sacrificing his life, and that of his brother's, for the sake of his disdain. Such torture lurked between all these races, such horrifying hatred from chromatic to metallic -- and this hatred was only mirrored in their far more mortal brethren, the elves, humans, and dwarves. The dragons, though, paved the way for the ascension of the lesser races and the harmony of the magical elements, but it came at too great a cost. A whispered sigh passed her neatly painted lips, shutting out the rest of the tavern to be subsumed by her grief a moment or two longer.

The sounds of others entering the tavern did little to penetrate through the floods that washed over her. Self contained, self centered, Lethe remained in her seat, ignoring them as they ignored her, surrounded by her lonely isolation to comfort her in these times. An elemental's heart was not made to be so, a fire's passions were quick and burned out, they were not smothered and destroyed. Lasting for centuries and millenia had its drawbacks and it was never more, save in these moments, that she felt it so keenly. Wanting to rail and to weep, to find some sort of surcease after the years had drug on without her cousins, she had taken to wandering other realms, leaving, hopefully forever, the city of the dark goddess to its successor, abandoning her last tie to the Queen. And always, did she return to this same place, drawn in ways that she could not hope to suggest, to even think. She had rejoined Paladine here, once, ages ago, after hundreds of years of exile due to Takhisis's mischief, she had seen him here, had recognized him, had been reunited. She had spoken lightly and with pained tones, demanding to know where the other elementals had gone. Where was Acheron? Cocytus? Phlegethon?

It was likely in that memory that the futile, subconscious wish had been born. It had happened once, she had met him here, she could do it again, couldn't she? If HE had found her here, he could certainly do it again, so long as she forgot that she had watched him nearly fall to his sister in a story that would echo through their world for an eternity. How she wanted to wallow in her grief, the three centuries or so that had passed since then had done nothing to dull this razor's edge of torment. Perhaps nothing would, either. Lethe, fundamental avatar of elemental fire, was lost in a sea of rue.

Suicide was always an option, but to even think it would've caused her more anguish. HE, the Light God, wouldn't have wanted her dead, nor would either the Dark Sister, or the Scales of Balance, or even the Dark Consort, or any other deities that still held some sort of importance to the fire spirit. It was a sin against her nature, to commit suicide, and it was bred into her line and her breed long ago that such things were unforgiveable. Whomever had dictated such rules had never been tied into a divine game of the creation of the Three Gods. That her essence had plied from her, and molded into the hands of the red dragons, to the breaths of the golden, to fulfill a prophecy... It had been so bloody and gory in the end, and nobody had even predicted it. The end of an era in ways people could never expect to have been played out. And Lethe, the wondrous elemental force that she was, the survivor of it all, still mourned her losses. The dragons had all gone and left her with more dignity than she would've given them in return, many had died of natural causes some time after as mortal life and mortal grief had claimed them. Lethe pitied them all, even Takhisis, in the end. At least her memories of her father and mother had been fuzzy at best, despite being the child of Chaos. The Dark Queen's memories had not been perfect, they had still been developing and when they were born, and that had been long before Krynn had even existed. That the divine children -- the gods of Krynn -- had never known their parents, not truly, she would not have denied, despite her reluctance, had been a blessing and a curse for them all. Again, a sigh escaped her, and her eyes opened, glittering viridian as they always had, bright and unclouded by unshed tears.

Bundling herself further into the scarlet cloak, she was still ignoring anyone else in the room. Not from malicious intent, and certainly not from her apparent wealthy status, more that she was too intwined in her own thoughts to really see anyone else in the tavern. It was, and always had been, a good place to brood in on herself, to mourn the loss that her heart still ached for. Never again would she be in the way for the darkness to use her so shamelessly, as a tool for forging a world, no less. Oh, she sighed again, her lips parting, eyes searching the wall, the fireplace that was likely dark given the season. Had she noticed that when she entered? Or was it simply habit that she always wandered towards the fireplace in order to stay warm. Frowning, she pulled the cloak about her form and stared ahead, ignoring the serving girl that came to inquire if she wanted something to drink. Now she was sulking, like a child, like a human child who hadn't lived for well over a thousand years. Despite all her age, what wisdom she was -supposed- to have garnered in that time, Lethe always felt best when she could just wallow in her own misery. Someday, she knew that she was going to have to gather the remnants of her life and to start again, but that didn't mean now was the time.

Having ignored everything so far, she was quite content to wrap herself in selfish misery. At some point, Lethe did pull herself from her melancholy, responding to the second attempt of the serving girl to get her to drink something. Noddding, she schooled her features into the mask again and murmured her request for a cup of warmed, mulled wine. It would do her good to get something heated into her stomach, at least to attempt to banish away all of her brooding thoughts. Nestled closely into her seat, she was nothing more than a redheaded, rich woman bundled into matching cloak and snobbily staying away from the rest of the world. When the girl brought her the wine, she paid lazily, dropping a couple of coins into the serving girl's hand from somewhere beneath her cloak. The wine, in turn, was sipped upon, caring not if it was too warm and would've burned her, being an elemental had its rewards at time, and its downfalls in others. Sighing, she heard the noise at the door and said nothing of it, having no one that she was going to comment upon and reservedly staying as far away from association with anyone else as she could.

Lethe, one of the strangest beings that had ever walked Krynn -- ancient now beyond contemplation -- was done being used as anyone's tool.

Moments later, a Solamnic Knight stepped through, his armour battered and dented, a ragged rent defacing the rose that had been worked into its design. He had no scabbard, and held a naked blade in his hand. The man looked around calmly, assessing his surroundings.

Quickly, the Shadowkin considered its options. The being approaching it was powerful, if it couldn't take it unawares, then the fight would not go well. The knight was negligible, it would not sacrifice the element of surprise for such a small prize.

"Except that my magic is conspicuously missing, and has been ever since I arrived on Krynn. This has not been my experience while visiting other dimensions." Rashitan began pacing, trying to figure out what she should do.

OOC: I wonder where this arc is going...

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" Someone screamed loudly and ran into the room with, clothes on fire. Patting wildly at the flames, the person - who was a he, a black robe, and had golden skin and hourglass eyes, snatched up the nearest bottle and pouring cooling liquid over himself.

Unfortunately, it was a bottle of wine, and with a WHOOOOOOSH! the flames began to burn even more fiercely.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH" the person said again, as he desperately began to roll on the floor trying to put the fires out.

"I see you had an argument with Lady Crysania, again. And I see she obviously won it, again." Dalamar deadpanned. Then he turned his attention to Rashitan. "Didn't you just use your magic to change your clothes?"

"Magic? Pah!" Raistlin spat as he rose from the floor, having successfully doused the flames, though not before they'd reduced his head of white hair to a few tattered wisps.

"Who needs magic! I can do just fine without it, thank you!" The once-great mage said sulkily. "Ever since Takhisis died, her brat won't grant me any power, andnone of the gods care! It's not fair I tell you, not after the pivotal role I played in the Chaos war!!!!"

"Thank you, Dally." Raistlin said, patting at his hair and trying to smooth it back into its customary sleekness. Then he turned his attention to Rashtan. "I, my dear ignorant friend, am Raistlin. The greatest mage that ever lived!"

His pronouncement might have been a little more impressive if the flames hadn't burned a tiny hole through his robes to reveal a purple polka dotted undertunic.

"Yeah, formerly the greatest mage ever lived." Dalamar snorted. "He was my shalafi, my master. And like you, he had completely lost his powers. But for different reasons, of course. "Nonsense!" Raistlin said, waving a hand dismissively. "Once I get some godlike powers again, I'll just turn him into a living statue and use him for a birdbath in my front lawn!"

"We should be thinking of how to overthrow this new god and regain the balance, not help him! And there's no way anyone of us can deal with Justarius if he finds us! That old bastard is still the most powerful mage in Krynn now!"

Briefly, the dark elf remembered how Justarius had managed to disguise himself as a young mage named Meldius during the war. The disguise was so effective that even the dark elf couldn't see through it at all. It wasn't a good memory.

Jenna frowned. She vividly remembered how much grief this mage had caused her father and the rest of the Conclave more than ten years ago, when she was barely more than a child. But it was hard for her to believe that the wretched figure standing before her right now was the same Raistlin Majere in the legends. "I have been living here for the past two months. Ever since the war had ended. And I agree with Dally, it's INSANE to actually think of aiding this new god. We can't upset the balance!"

The Emperor of Ergoth sat on his throne, smiling as the two entered the hall. "Well, even before you two entered, the three bards who entertained me this morning were already singing songs of your bravery. In fact, I have received a request from some guilds asking me to build a statue of you two. After all, it had been a while since we had war heroes in the Empire."

A filthy-looking child, probably the son of the tavern's owner, was sitting nearby. His attention, like everyone else's, was fixed on the two legendary heroes, Kevin Garnett and Zero, instead of the newcomer. And when they left the tavern, his eyes followed them.

"Ah... they are going to meet the Emperor Mercadior." The child whispered in awe, but loud enough for anyone nearby to hear him. "Probably another special mission! I wish I will become heroes like them someday! Fighting against the creatures of Chaos!! Or any other monsters!"

"Thou art inside the Greygem, littling." Airiana murmured just as she saw the pendant. Recognition flowed through her and she blinked a moment. "Thou art a Drache... an Asuli art thou not? What is thy given name? I am called Airiana." She said by way of introduction, wondering how the little Asuli managed to get inside the Gem.

BIC: Kyri looked up into Airiana's silver eyes in surprise, not so much at the revelation of where she was, but more on the fact that this woman knew her surname, and the name of her people. Slowly she nodded, it seemed to be no more harm to tell this woman that what she spoke was true.

"My name is Kyri Drache, the youngest child of the Drache family... How did I get here? I remember finally being able to escape my brother's tyrranical rule, and my horse stumbled, I fell.... and I remember nothing more till I woke a few minutes ago..." He led the mare closer towards the road, in a patch of fading light, he hailed the two elves...

Lash turned to see a figure standing by a horse and wolf. He noted another body sitting on the horse, "Greetings, I am Lash. You may have heard my name around these parts. I am a ranger, a wanderer of the wilds. These lands are no longer safe. If you can fight...which by your sword I assume that you can, I need all the help I can get in the militia. At least join us to the next village. These woods aren't the best place to be at night."

"Hahahhaha!!!" Ariakan roared with laughter as he pressed the assault. "You killed me, but Chaos has brought me back!" As Rithas dodged back from the mace Ariakan's head suddenly snapped forward, the neck stretching inhumanly long, while lips drew back to reveal rows of pointed fangs that snapped wildly at Rithas' face.

Rithas stepped back to his right as the mouth snapped where his head had been. He came up with a sword slash which Ariakan's head dodged. Rithas could see in the corner of his eye Ariakan's body coming forward, mace raised. Rithas dodged a few more snaps from Ariakan's mouth then turned and flat out ran. This was not a fight he could win under the circumstances.

The growling he had heard grew louder and soon he saw a demonic liger and wolf type creature. He stopped in his tracks. He could hear Ariakan's footsteps behind him and the low growling of the creatures before him. The wolf creature jumped at Rithas. Rithas feigned to the side then jumped and kicked off the wolf. He turned and came down with his sword on the demonic liger. Rithas stood and quickly pulled his sword free.

The wolf creature turned and charged. Rithas moved forward as well. The wolf jumped and Rithas brought his sword up in a lunge landing it right between the jaws of the monster. Rithas pulled his sword away just in time to see Ariakan's fanged mouth coming at him. He fell back and slashed upward to keep the head from attacking while he was prone.

Rithas rolled to the side and got up. Ariakan would not stop his attack. Rithas had to stand and fight, least he face even worse monsters.

Gilthas continued riding, until the village came into view. Then, he slid off from his horse and waited at the entrance for the others. He drew his sword, the war may have ended, but peace hasn't return to Ansalon at all. It's surprising how much his life had changed after the war, he had hated his parents then, a spoilt brat who hadn't done much to live up to his parents' reputations, he had a castle to hide in. But now, everything was gone, the last remaining money from his parents had been used to purchase the weapons he carry with him.

In the tales of bards, he had became the Speaker of the Sun through the manipulations of elvish senators, a puppet king. How different things were like in real life. Qualinesti was no more, and he was nothing more than a wandering elf.

Airiana nodded. From what little she had heard of the Draches, there were problems a-plenty among them. It did not surprise her in the least that this youngling had to 'escape' from anyone. "Worry not, Kyri... it takes a little bit to get used to being inside the Gem... it befuddles one's senses at first," she explained, mistaking the young Asuli's first Change for disorientation.

"Hmph. This bores me, I'm going after my idiotic brother and see what's taking him so long." Space hmphed and flew off, leaving only an uncharacteristically silent Happy with Airiana and the child.

Jadrek nodded, though he didn't remark on the comment that the woods weren't safe at night, and he looked towards Kaigara, while Saia padded forward, nose to the ground, he could hear her soft growls. He swung up into the saddle behind Kaigara, and with a soft word and a light touch of the reins on her shoulders, the mare leapt forward, pounding down the path...

As they reached the Village, the mare slowed, and pranced to a stop. Jadrek watched the golden haired elf who had seemed very familiar draw his sword, and reflexively, Jadrek's hand rested on his own. Saia watched the pair ahead with interest, her constant, incoherant mutterings a shadow in Jade's mind as she slipped past the entrance, and began to explore...

"Minions?? MINIONS?? If I weren't on this puny world I'd rip you to shreds before I become a minion. Why would I want to go with you anyhow? Ama hasn't lost anything, and all I have to do is go home. Hmph. And like I'd need someone to protect me!" Rashitan turned her back indignantly.

"Well..." Rashitan hesitated. "Help me out a bit, anyway, since after all you still have your magic and the ability to change back. Me..." Irritated, Rashitan spat a glob of acid at Raistlin's feet.

"WHat's the matter?" Ariakan cackled, running a forked tongue over his fangs. His left arm arm began to bulge monstrously, muscles swelling so much that the sleeve of the robes ripped. Hair sprouted from its surface, and the nails lengthened into deadly claws which the traitor used to swipe at Rithas.

"That bitch Takhisis died for nothing. You may think you have stopped Chaos, but you're sadly mistaken, fool!!!"
