Dawn rose in the highlands of Solamnia... Just a mile south of the Clerist’s tower a spiraling Crystal tower sparkled in the morning sun. An archway made of clear and black crystal Marked the entrance to the tower Glimmer had made to watch over the area....her new home.

The dawn spread colors of pink and violet across the clouds that marred the blue sky above. The colors splattered down through the crystalline roof and spilled on the slumbering form of Crystalamira, or better known to humans and other mortals... as Glimmer. Her huge feathered wings were folded tightly against her back, her tail curled up around her legs to nearly touch her nose. Her golden eyes were closed in much-needed sleep.

Since the death of her mate, Navarre, Glimmer struggled through her days, longing in many ways to join him. Since his death and the falling of Paladine, Crystalamira found solace more often than not in sleep...and still did not feel properly rested....This worried her two elder children, Starwind(Sorwyn) and Light(Lirana) The other six had gone off on their own quests and such after their father had died... even Sorwyn and Light left her to help the knights and the elven nations that occupied Sanction these days.

Alone Glimmer faced the loss of her God and her mate.... unknowing how much their loss would truly affect her....

Slowly her eyes opened and she lifted her head just far enough as her jaws gaped open in a wide yawn. The recent incident with her middle daughter Wylin(Windrider) left her exhausted... though she knew that she had impressed her old nemesis’s daughter, Xreona with her sudden appearance. Wylin was grown now, and well enough to be on her own...

For the millionth time, Glimmer silently pondered why she remained in this world....Finally shaking herself out of her misery, Glimmer stood slowly, stretching her wings to their fullest extent. Deciding to once again visit the monument dedicated to her fallen mate, she turned, fully intending to teleport to the location......

.....
....
...

Nothing happened... Alarmed, Glimmer tried again...all in vain.... her own inherent powers were gone....

Elsewhere

Trapped within the dimension that most mortals called "The Grey" Navarre waited... He had felt the death of his Goddess and Mother, Takhisis, and he knew that his chances of returning to his world was now very unlikely indeed.

Even within the Grey, Navarre's form had reverted back to its human shape...the dragon half of him lost forever....

Glimmer sat in her tower, her eyes fixed on her claws, her heart pounding in her ears. Her mind raced as she tried to figure out what had happened... finally overly frustrated, she launched herself out of the spire, her wings straining against the wind, and she banked sharply to the south...heading for the one place she hoped she could find help... the newly restored Tower of High Sorcery.....

Glancing out the window, Karina sighed.....she knew that shimmery crystalline dragon form. The demigoddess shruged and did think about returning to somewhere else..but unfortunately, with her lack of power..there was very little else she could go...no longer able to transport herself on a whim or think up a fireball..no.it required concentration now...she hated it...but if Kalia was coming here....what did that mean?

She shrugged again and turned away from the window. No use brooding about it. She slid out of the window frame but remained in the room, waiting for the dragoness to enter.

Glimmer banked sharply to land on the top of the highest tower with a fury of backwinging... the moment her claws touched the stone, a whispered spell transformed her form... it wasn't as easy as before, and Kalia was worried, in fact, when the transformation was complete, she knelt panting on the stone, one hand steadying herself before standing and decending into the tower itself.

She had to speak with the conclave.... or even, dare she admit it, the one other who may be experiancing the same troubles... Karina....

Kalia shivered, and remembered the first time she met Karina... Also of Godly descent, this woman had caused her nothing but misery in the past fifty or so years... even though by blood Navarre was related to Karina, his hatred for her was obvious, and years later Kalia had come to know that it was him who saved her and her friends during their confrontation.

Despondant again, Kalia sighed and turned the corner, the chamber beyond connected one corridor with another, and standing within she saw the one person she hoped and feared to find... Karina....

Kalia stopped in her tracks, almost unable to speak to her old Nemesis....

"Karina... I would be lying if I said it was good to see you again" She said softly.

"Karina... I would be lying if I said it was good to see you again" She said softly.

"And I would be lying if I were to say that I didn't want you dead on the spot, but I suppose we've already gone over the nicities. I suppose you are here for the same reason I am?" She snapped her grey-tinged fingers...only sparks came, where would have been fireballs not too long before, "This is greatly getting on my nerves. How am I supposed to deal with my life lacking a quarter of my magic?" The last part was spoken in a low whisper, so that only Kalia could here, "ANd besides that," She reraised her voice, "THe Conclave wants to hear what everyone has to say." Her tone of voice indicated that she couldn't give a damn about the Conclave, howerver.

How am I supposed to deal with my life lacking a quarter of my magic?"

Kalia's lips twisted in a mocking smile... "probably the same way I did for two decades of my existance... " her own words shocked her for a moment...could she return to being just human? to being just a mage?? The idea thrilled and terrified her at the same time...

"Ah, well I have a schedule to keep up. THings to do. Places to be. YOu don't have to keep up the tight schedule i do, and I for one would quite MISS it, though I'm not sure you do..how so..beyond me...butI suppose you in your infinite goodness," Her words were dripping with sarcasm now, "Would never be one to get power at any cost of any others, becuase you always put friends first and that other load of elfshit you put for other people..." She rolled her eyes and leaned against the wall, saying no more but grumbling to herself amoust constantly.

A black-robed figure walked down the hall and soon saw her fellow black mage Karina and a woman that looked vaguley familiar. Her silver eyes looked over them, intensity showing there. When she looked at the other woman again, she realized why she looked familiar. Daughter of Paladine... the Crystal Dragoness... she frowned as the draconic image began to fade slightly. I wonder why that's happening? she thought to herself, but shrugged it off as she got closer.

The 'half-elf' stood silently near the two for a few moments, throwing a tendril of wavy, auburn hair over her shoulder. Finally she felt impatient and cleared her throat. "Archmagius Karina," she said with a slight bow of her head to the demigod, not looking at Kalia who was obviously of the Good alignment. "The Conclave meeting is about to begin, and they wish your attendance." She said, then deigned to glance at the other woman. What did mother tell me about her... it has been so long, but nonetheless I want to get to know her, even if she was the daughter of the Skymaster...

A young man appeared in front of the tower. He removed his hat for a moment and looked at the place in awe. "To imagine that it looked so grand...compared to the state I'm more familiar with..." He whipped out a notepad and pen and began to jot things down.

"If that source is right, then there is a meeting today." He put the pen and paper away and adjusted his hat. "It will definitely be an intriguing experience to see what the current politics are." He vanished for a moment, then appeared in the hallway. "Yes, most marvelous indeed." He began to walk down the hallways, looking around, trying to take it in. "To think people really are wearing robes..."

Karina bowed her head in responce to Calista, "Lady Calista, it is a pleasure to see you again. I was just talkign with an old......aquiatence of mine. It has been quite a long time, hasn't it, Miss Kalia?" Her tone just barely hinted at a typical dry sarcasm, "But, anyway, I suppose if the Conclave wishes me, then I should go and see what exactly it is about....I suppose you would like to join, my dear friend?" .

She ran a hand through her black hair, pushing the hood down so that her monochromatic orbs looked around the room, her greyish skin a bit more wrinkled then the last him, her black lips pursed in irratation.

Calista smiled at Karina a moment. "It is likewise a pleasure, Archmagius," she said, following protocol. She listened to the rest of the demigoddess's words and raised an eyebrow. "Kalia? Kalia Majere?" She asked, turning her attention back to the woman. "Or should I say Crystalamira, the Skymaster's Last Daughter?"

She smirked and made a bow at the woman, but only half as deep as the one she had paid Karina. "I am to escort the both of you to the Conclave. I was about to come looking for the Crystal Dragon next, I had no idea that our own Archmagius Karina was already in posession of her," she said, pretending not to have known who Kalia was. It was meant as a way to down-grade her, and it was a technique that generally worked. "Please," she said as she straighted up and glanced at the both of them, "this way..."

Arvis walked down the hallways even more impressed then before. "And here I had thought this place would seem more barbaric. Compared to where I was, this is quiet. Pure bliss." He closed his eyes and sighed, a smile crossing his lips.

"The Wings finally took me somewhere sane...at least I hope." He paused in front of a room which people were milling into. "This must be the conclave's meeting room. I wonder if it would be rude of me to enter? Maybe I should use the wings to hide?" He stood there in thought, but after a moment decieded to just enter the room.

Kalia didn't even flinch at Callista's words, but she immediately recognized the name....but she was'nt quite sure if it was the same person... Kalia shrugged. "It's nothing... I haven't been easily known in this form for a couple of decades now..." She said, unable to believe that this was actually the Callista she had heard of...

:: Oh Airiana, what has happend to your child...:: She mused to herself as she followed Callista and Karina.

"I would not come to her, she came too me," Karina muttered into Calista's 'ear, slipping her hood back over her features--the Conclave did not approve of such "manipulation for power" though they all would have done it themselves--idiots, indeed.

"So then, Lady Calista, what do the others speak of today, such racket and rambling I have been hearing lately. This that, and the other thing...what is so important to gather so many...exotic creatures...to it?" IT was painfully clear that Karina knew exactly what they were going to say...but she didn't want ot believe that. Her lack of magic was grinding her nerves, and boy, was that irritating, "But on a better note, I trust you have been doing well in your studies? Perhaps I can teach you a few of my own ideas, if we have the time..." SHe rather completely ignored Kalia now that another exotic (as she had used teh word before) mage, a black robe nonetheless, had entered.

Kalia could only guess at the dragoness leading her to the Conclave, and that much would have to do for now... so many bad things had happened since her mother's death, and then her first-hatched dying... everything had been a mess. Thinking about these things, Calista growled to herself softly and cleared her mind of such thoughts. Thinking of the past doesn't solve anything... it is the future that must be strived for.

Calista shrugged diffidently at Kalia's comment. "Well, I have had other sources of information of you, one in particular that far surpasses a couple decades... I should have recognized you." She said simply, then turned back to Karina, who seemed to be the young woman's idol.

"I would not come to her, she came too me," Karina muttered into Calista's ear, slipping her hood back over her features.

Calista sighed heavily, as if bored with mundance tasks. "Not much different then the last few, I am afraid... a decrease in powers for just about everyone, but especially those who have some affinity for the Skyma--err--Paladine or for ..your Mother, my fallen Queen," she said, making a slight bowing movement and a gesture that seemed very reverant as she continued to walk on at the mention of Takhisis.

When Karina asked of her studies, Calista nodded eagerly. "Yes, that I am... I am surprised, actually... I thought that giving up my inane abilities would limit me a lot more than it has... I suppose that if I had been born mortal to begin with that I would have been powerful. Though I must admit, some of the things I used to enjoy as a luxury are now taxing... levitating objects around, for example. I used to be able to do it effortlessly, and now," she spread her hands and shook her head with a sigh. "But as far as your ideas, I would love to, Archmaguis! It would be an honor!" The once-dragoness smiled almost-happily at the prospect--in truth, since the events that turned her over to the Darkness, she had never again been completely happy. But then, she was no longer hurt as deeply either, so it was a sacrifice that she lived with.

"Ah," Calista said with a knowing nod, "but you had no choice with the severe reduction of your power... I gave up part of me before that, and so I have gone through the drain twice where you have felt it only once. But still, I would think yours to be the great loss, and even my mother's powers could not match yours at their height." She said as they reached the doorway that so many others were streaming in to. Karina placed a hand on Calista's shoulder before sliding into the crowd and taking her seat next to leader of the black robes.

"Let us call this meeting to order," Called one of the whites, "I assume that most of you know what it is abour. Since the death of the Dark Queen and the mortality of the Platinum Dragon, powers have been decreasing. People are gettign weaker. Magica is failing more often. And even though Solinar, LUnitari, and Nuitari all shine brightly int he sky, this happens."

Karina leaned back in her seat. This was going to be a long meeting. She could feel it in her divine blood.

How intriguing. The last time I sat in one these meetings...it went much differently.

Calista took her place among the other black robes and listened to the mage of Solinari. She groaned inwardly. Isn't that obvious by now? Everyone feels it... loosing the prime deity of good and evil should cause disruptions, so what do they intend to do about it? She wondered to herself as she sat back in her chair sullenly.

Clearing her throat, she stood and voiced these issues, glaring twin daggers of purest silver at the white robe who had whined moments before. "Aye, this much we all know," she stated, her voice flat. "But would you expect any less? We have lost the prime deity of both Good and Evil! The world must settle after such an event. And all should know that the lesser gods draw strength from their leader, so why shouldn't magic have decreased? And finally, what does the Conclave think it can do about this? Make offerings?" She nearly spat, looking over the assembledge. "There is nothing that we can do!"

With that final exclamation, the black robe sat back down, slouching in her seat with arms folded across her chest, waiting for a response from anyone who would deign to do so.

Kalia sighed silently, what Callista had said was right...there was nothing that they could do... Part of her magic still remained, as she was originally created by Gilean, for all that the Skyfather was her own blood, most of her magic now stemmed from the creator of balance.

Without saying another word, Kalia stood, she should have known better than to come here, these human mages couldn't help her this time... not even as much as they had twenty odd years ago. Silently, ignoring the other mages, she slipped from the main hall.

...Pain.

The slow, sharp and excruciating sensation of pain.

The Sensation of Pain that signifies the beginning of all Life…and Rebirth

And then the painful intrusion of light as the dawn sun invaded though narrowed eyes unaccustomed to the light, still tender and raw from the soul-shattering struggle. Still overwhelmed with the minute sensations of the flesh, from the ethereal to the corporeal, the change was enough to shatter all but the strongest of minds, the most determined. Memories collided with emotions, senses and impulses and all coalesced into a maddening array of information that flooded the being’s consciousness, threatening to wash away all that He was, and all that he had struggled to save.

The being drew a massive shuddering breath that cracked the surface of the crystalline-jade prism which encased its dark sinuous form of an elder Dragon, causing the minute cracks formed after the first heave of its ribs to grow, splinter and divide with each labored, painful breath before suddenly, with a flex of darkened feathery wings that patterned violet in the dawn’s rays stretched, the cocoon that houosed the Great Dragon shattered into mere shards of Emerald light that filled the clearing with a myriad of sparkling trnasluscent raindrops each reflecting the light of the dawn as it rose over the distant mountains near Sanction.

I Live again, my body and spirit are yet again one…

The strange crystalline Dragon, its scales as dark as shadow and seeming to almost consume the dawn light hungrily, raised itself upon powerful sleek haunches, reeling back its ancient head and roaring in triumph to the skies, an eerie primal roar from when Krynn was still young and the lands still cooled. The sound of jubilation and pain known only by those who have lost all they loved and felt the touch of death, a roar that trembled the very ground, and shook the trees before it, causing flocks of birds to suddenly take wing in panic and fill the sky with their dark flittering forms and animals of the surrounding woods to suddenly prostrate themselves in near paralytic fear.

Nevarre once again walked the face f Krynn…

As Kalia strode from the meeting hall, her steps sounded hollow as they echoed in the marble corridor. Suddenly a wave of intense pain made her stumble and vainly grasp for something to steady herself as she falls to her knees.

The neclace of shimmering black scales she wore burned her throat, and she grasped at it frantically. When she finally managed to break the clasp, she cried out in anguish and misery... something was terribly wrong...

What is happening? I haven't felt this for years... back when I first... Fallen Skyfather no... it can't be!

She thought frantically as she struggled to stand.

The mages blinked at Calista's outburst. Karina burst out in a dark, hollow laughter, "Seems the little one has outthought us all. It seems clear that there is nothing we can do abou it, no matter who or what we may be. Unless, of course, it is possible to bring back a god." Her words short, sharp, and cutting, she stood from her chair and smoothly left the hall, all eyes following.

Turning back and peering into the hall, she spoke in a quiet, echoing tone, "Calista, would you like to come with me?"

Turning back and peering into the hall, she spoke in a quiet, echoing tone, "Calista, would you like to come with me?"

After glaring about the room for a couple moments, Calista nodded and stood. "Most certainly, Archmagius... this meeting is obviously not going to get anywhere, with all its members sitting around with their thumbs up their nether regions," she said, her silver eyes as cold as ice. She walked out of the room without looking at the rest of the Conclave and met Karina in the hall, bowing slightly. "I wonder if the lack of magic will allow them to use their brains for once..." She said just loud enough to carry into the room, a smirk on her face.

"Now, Calista, respect the heads of the orders. They are higher in rank, if not anything else. And, they have more then just their thumbs up there, I'd say most of their nervous systems." She turned and walked out the hall, her robes flowing around her as she walked down the steps of the tower, Calista on her heels.

"Now...where is Crystalamira......," She closed the door to the stairs behind her with a wave of her hand, and conjured up a pen and a piece of paper to scribble something down, whisper a word of magic, as the paper dissapeared, "though I loathe her sense of righteousness, among other things, she is, unfortunately, the only one here who can fathom what you and I are talking about, becuase the rest of them are meerly whining about the lack of pathetic power they've lost. They have no power. They just think they do."

"Kalia?! Where are you?!"

Kalia numbly heard Karina's voice calling out for her... through the pain razed fog that filled her world now she called out weakly.... knowing that she had to transform, and get to Sanction as soon as her wings could carry her....

::Here:: It was all she could manage, mind to mind...she didn't even have complete control over her voice.

Karina blinked, it had been a long time since anyone had mindspoke with her. Xreona, who had always appriciated conventional means, never did, and the death of her queen had left that option closed. She was a bit shocked, but she grabbed Calista's arm and focused hard in her mind on Kalia, then dissapeared.

The two of them appeared near the dragon-woman, and Karina cocked an eyebrow, "What in the name of the Lost Queen are you doing, Crystalamira? Trying to see if you can magic yourself somewhere with no work?"

Kalia finally managed to stand, it wasn't that the discomfort or pain had lessened, she had just become somewhat numb from it.

"For you this may seem amusing Karina...but for me it's a matter of life or death... Something has happened... I have got to get to Sanction immediately" She said, her hand clenching the necklet of scales so tight that her blood welled up, staining both the black crystalline scales and the hem of her sleeve.

She moved woodenly, stiffly as if it pained her to even move. She reached the edge of the stair that led to the top of the tower and paused, panting with the exertion it took to get even this far.

"By the lost Queen Kalia, you'll end up killing yourself. Since you're obviously so torn up there, do you want my help or not?" She cocked a skeptical eyebrow, "Or can you not find the strength in you to agree? I dont' have any problem with you dying or anything, but to be honest, I'd rather do it myself....and this is rather anticlimatic." She shrugs, 'Yes, No, Maybe?"

Kalia looked back at Karina, her gold eyes locked onto the other's endless black. "If I want to survive this, I suppose I have no choice...." She murmered then nodded.

Calista blinked as she was transported and kept herself from growling out something to the effect of 'you should have warned me' when she saw Kalia. Seeing the crystal dragon so pained worried her, touching a heart with pain that had blocked it off for so long. When she saw how badly the dragon-woman struggled, she rushed over to her. "I will help you as well, if you'll let me, Crystalamira." She murmured softly.

"Calista, help me stand her up, it will be easier to magic the three of us....by my Lost Queen, I will be able to," Her oynx eyes glistened in determination, "We will return to my hut, there, we can find out what has given the great crystal dragon such a migraine."

Wrapping one of Kalia's arms around her shoulders, Karina lifted up the woman so that she stood on her feet, ableit with the black robe's help. Gathering Calista to help support the weakened elf, Karina focused her mind and thought deeply off her little hut. The first time she tried, they moved not an inch.

"I will do this." She grumbled into the air, glaring around more then usual.

The second time, she dissapeared into the little place where she lived.

Not much had changed. The tiny kitchen was still spotlessly clean, the tiny bedroom still unused. The only change was the largest room, the room of the spellbooks, of the arcane things.

After placing the ailing dragon-woman on the bed, she went to this room.

The tripod holding her blessed Orb had been put away, the Orb now occupying a place on a shelf along with many othing thigns people would die for. Among them were the Staff of Dragons, the blood of her Goddess, various magical artifacts that did things that should not be done.

But undoubtly her favorite artifact - and the one which had lost the least amount of power, and has been the most stable - was a little mason jar that sat in a small corner of the room. Undoubtaly the most incoconspicious and normal thing there was, one would wonder why she treasured this jar so. In fact, it held the life of a very interesting demon, one which had backstabbed the demigoddess one too many times.

Zakuro Shijima, to be specific.

Making sure the jar had not moved since her last visit, she smiled at it lovingly and then left again, returning to Kalia's side, "Are you quite alright now, Crystalamira?"

Calista obeyed the demigoddess and readied herself and Kalia to be transported. She looked worriedly at Karina when she noticed that it took the archmagius a second time to successfully transport the three of them, but reminded herself that she had just transported two people a few moments ago, and that magic overall was down. Once they arrived, Calista continued to support Kalia over to the bed and stayed there with her while Karina did her check around the hut.

The young woman sighed and lent what strength she could to the crystal dragoness. "Whatever ales you, Crystalamira, I am here for you..." She murmured softly.

Kalia's discomfort continued, it even seemed to get worse...

"thank you..." She whispered, it was all she could manage. She knew what this was... it had happened before, right after she had gained maturity as a dragon... and Navarre entered her life....

"I have to get so sanction... the monument..." She whispered, her gold eyes locked onto Karina, whom she knew understood what she meant.

"I have to get so sanction... the monument..." She whispered, her gold eyes locked onto Karina, whom she knew understood what she meant.

Karina shook her head in dissaproval. If there were a pair that clashed worse then Karina and Nuitari, then it was her OTHER half-brother, Navare. For as Karina and Nuitari met with words, Navare and Karina often ending up fightening eachother till one or the other decided it was stupid. Never turned out well, and even when they got out without bruises, rumors spred of strange things happeneing. Karina wasn't fond of rumors of her self.

She shook her head to shake off the rambling, and nodded again, "If we see you husband, I will fight him, and you know this," She said, her scowl making her grey and black features uglier then normal, "And yet you still ask? You have nerve, Glimmer, I'll hand you that much....Very well...We will go to the blasted moment...may the Lost Queen strike it down...get up Calista, grab my hand..."

She lifted the dragoness's arm over her shoulder again and drew up a picture of the Monument in Sanction. This place she should get too with no problem....the magic knew that anyone that got beween Karina and her siblings didn't live long...and the magic was on it's last legs already.

So with a blink and a thought, they dissapeared.

Dropping the dragoness rather abrupbtly, she peered around. Still the same place. Not a place she liked. She focused again on her hut to return.

Nothing.

"Blast it..." She growled, wiping the sweat off her face. These transports weren't easy anymore. That had been two of them with all three, and one with just Calista and Karina. She had not used this much magic in a long time. Nor had she the power. She tried again.

Nothing.

"So the Lost Queen brings us together again, brother..." She half-growled, stepping next to the fallen crystal dragoness and peering around, "Navare! Your wife hurts!" She shouted unreligiously into the air around her.

Kalia's pain lessened considerably, but it didn't go away, and she stared in numb shock at the shattered remains of the crystal that had enshrouded Navarre's fallen form. Gathering her strength, spurred on the the pain, she managed to move away from Karina and shift... though it caused the dragon to pause, panting with the exhertion and the pain.

She looked around, saw evidence of life.... a pair of deeply dug claw furrows... two loose feathers lay on the ground...both too big to be of the natural wildlife... and wrong color to be a Griffons'. The black feather gleamed with violet and green as she turned it in her claws.

Her eyes were filled with a longing... a wistful longing that was unsure if she could believe what she was seeing. Her claws snapped the shaft of the large feather, as she raised her head, eyes closed in anguish as she roared long and loud... her call echoing off of the peaks of the Lords of doom, a cry that scattered the birds and silenced the forest around them.

A dark presence slipped within Karina’s hut while the trio stood at the shattered monument south of Sanction.

A slender hand caressed the crystal bottle that sat on a shelf, a soft voice spoke.

“ah... Shinjima.. what a dilemma you have gotten yourself into. Allow me....” the feminine voice said and picked up the bottle, and shattered it against the floor.

A pale mist rose up from the broken shards and coalesed into a handsome man... though this creature was definitely not human. His pale eyes locked onto the woman, his long silvery hair fell well past his waist. His clothing was odd, even for this world. Obviously made of silk, the whites and pale blues complimented his coloring. The tunic fell past his waist and was belted with a silver colored sash. The pants where loose and gather at the ankle.... his feet enshouded only by a pair of simple sandles.

"who are you" Zakuro asked, his hands fisted at his sides.

The woman smiled, though her dark, almost black eyes narrowed. "You do not need to know. All you need to know is that I hold the key to your revenge Shinjima Zakuro. Dear Wylin Majere... and her Mate, Hiaku Seimiya... and you can help me, by destroying them, and all they hold dear. I have traveled all this world and even a few others, using magic that they could only dream of."

She leveled him with a dark gaze. noting his indesicion. "You will help me, or I will send you back to that little prison that petty demi-goddess had you sealed within."

Something in Karina's mind clicked. Very uncomfortably. She cursed audibly, and damned the magic.

"Take me home or I'll send you to the blasted Abyss in which I spend my time, you fading pile of dragon shit..." Karina is swear out loud very often, nor to use a dragon related insult in a momunt to a dragon, was something nto eveClosing her eyes, sweat beaded on her face, but she managed to make the teleportation.

She was careful to stay out of her magical artifact room as she teleported, and peeked in to the artifact room. She pulled her head out in a split second. There was no mistaking that silvery hair and strange clothing. And the other......who was the other? Karina sensed magic about her....draconic magic......strange, she recognizeed the strange draconic magic this woman emitted........

Crystalamira!

This was one of her children. Was that dragoness merely playing her to get one of her children in to set free Zakuro? ....no, that wasn't like Glimmer at all. Besides, the dragoness would have no reason to set free the demon. Probaly wanted to keep him hidden, if she had heard about the bastard's plots from Wylin. But this wasn't Wylin, or Skylar....no...this one exuded Zakuro and Hiaku's magic just as she did Kalia's...quite a puzzlement...

At this time, she knew that if she took both Zakuro and this dragon-child on, she'd lose. She wiped the sweat off her face again (ick...she'd need a shower or a bath after this...when was that last time she'd sweated?!)

She teleported again with decent ease, glancing back at Kalia and Calista, "We have a problem." She said silkily.

A shadow passed over them as Karina spoke, and before any of them could respond, a blast of wind shook the trees and scattered leaves, dirt and tiny stones.

The blue and silver dragon that landed there, was obviously not of Krynnish descent. His long, sinuous body was both furred and scaled. He sported no wings, and used his own magic, magic alien to Krynn. He hadn't wanted to come, but his mate, known commonly amung humans on Krynn as Wylin Majere, insisted that he go in her stead.

He glanced at his mate's Okasan (pronounced Oh-Kaaa-San, means mother) ... and his features softened with concern, it was only when his gold eyes swung to Karina that his form tensed, and his eyes narrowed with suspicion.

"Karina..." Hiaku growled, as he glanced at the third in this little group. He didn't recognize her, didn't know her, so he turned his gaze back to Glimmer.

"Wylin sent me... She is... well somewhat indisposed at the moment..." he said, his eyes bright with pride. "What has happened here?" He asked "I overheard her saying something about having a problem?" He growled softly, his shrewed gaze locking onto Karina.

Calista watched as the strange-looking (at least to her) dragon landed, and her silver eyes widened a moment in recognition, and she muttered "Shen-Lung!"

"Wylin sent me... She is... well somewhat indisposed at the moment..." he said, his eyes bright with pride. "What has happened here?" He asked "I overheard her saying something about having a problem?" He growled softly, his shrewed gaze locking onto Karina.

Calista stood a little forward and cleared her throat. "The Archmagius is not the problem... it seems that Wylin's father has... made his presence painfully known to his mate." She said, looking from Glimmer to Haiku and back.

Hiaku blinked at Calista, obviously surprised that someone of this world would know his traditional name.

"Ah... yes... Shen-Lung, of the Tung Chan Clutch... I am Seimiya Hiaku-" He paused in his speech, and a whirl of silver wind obscured his form, when it faded, a human male stood before them. Dressed in blue and silver silk, a katana sword tied at his waist. He had long black hair, and today he wore it loose, framing his tanned face. His almond-shaped eyes could have labeled him an elf, save for the fact that his ears were definitly human.

"You, dear Lady, may call me simply, Hiaku." He said, bowing stiffly at the waist.

Calista stood a little forward and cleared her throat. "The Archmagius is not the problem... it seems that Wylin's father has... made his presence painfully known to his mate." She said, looking from Glimmer to Haiku and back.

He turned back to Glimmer... he had only met his Mate's mother once... and even then he was awed at her power... and the gentle way she usually weilded it. Glimmer's pain was obvious in her stance, her head hung low, her labored breaths made her sides heave with the exertion, every feather on her wings were slicked back, her eyes half closed in exhaustion.

"Navarre? But how can this be?" He wondered aloud, as he looked to the shattered crystal that was where the fallen form of the dark dragon once was.

"This is not good...." He muttered. "If we cannot get them together, they will both suffer horribbly, their pain ending only in death, of one or the other..." He paused a moment.

"This sensation acts as a sort of homing beakon... the pain lessening as they near each other... why has he not simply come to her?" he wondered.

Karina tapped her foot, "That's not nearly as important or desperate as what I have to say. You know me well enough to say when I'm worried then there's trouble, and I'll tell you now, I am extremely worried. If the Goddess was here, this wouldn't be a problem, but her death has made me weaker then I was....." She clenched a fist.

With an almost suprising tenderness, Karina dropped to one knee next to Glimmer. She pushed back her hood and laid a grey hand on the crystal dragonness's back, "You must try and think, Crystalamira. One of your daughters, dark eyes, dark hair, filled with hate...can you tell me her name?"

Kalia_Majere
07/05/2004 2:18 PM

Glimmer winced slightly at the use of her 'formal' name, she hadn't gone by it for decades, it made her somewhat uneasy at its use.

One of your daughters, dark eyes, dark hair, filled with hate...can you tell me her name?"

"Mirisarl? Her name means Midnights' Song." Glimmer's eyes darkened, filled with regret and remorse. "I fear she blames me, as well as the rest of her siblings for Navarre's death...." She looked up, and then glanced at Hiaku.

Hiaku met her eyes and then turned to Karina, his voice cool and collected. "Why? What is going on Karina??" He questioned.

PrincessOfDarkness
07/05/2004 2:34 PM

Karina stood back up, running a hand through her hair, her expression impossible to decipher, "Do you remember, once, you and I and Wylin and X and Palin, we went on a journey to save you? Remmeber, when I took Zakuro as my own, set him in his little bottle in my room, and ordered him to do my bidding? Was a long time ago, before the Goddess left..."

Her lip curled into a frown. Those who knew Karina knew that when she frowned, something was wrong. Most things she got out of. Those she couldn't, she bluffed herself out of. Zakuro wouldn't listen to her bluffs, nor did she have the power to stop him.

"Shijima is free, and I don't have the power to fight him anymore."

Kalia_Majere
07/05/2004 2:46 PM

Hiaku paled, his hands clenched into fists. "By all the powers in the Sky and Water.... if he is free, then we're all in trouble...." He breathed, his voice barely audible.

Glimmer whipped her head around to stare at Karina, She knew of Shinjima, and had comforted Wylin at one point in that terrible battle. She knew of the struggles that they had gone through, though she herself stayed out of it, knowing that her daughter would have to face that battle on her own.

"It was Miri wasn't it? She would have the power to set him free....." She murmered, her eyes closing in anguish....

PrincessOfDarkness
07/05/2004 2:53 PM

"It was Miri who set him free, Crystalamira. The wards I have on my weapons have faded, and I have no way to reinforce them. If Miri blames all of you for Navare's death, then it is quite possible she has set free that blasted demon to get that revenge she wants. WHich means we'll need more people. Strong people, and we'll need them fast. Calista, you're helping...and I will call X right away."

"I will also need...." Her face paled as much as possible, leaving her a shade of disgusting, sickly grey, "All of my magical artifacts are in that room...."

WIth a wave of her hand, she dissapeared.

With a loud CRACK she reappeared in front of Miri and Zakuro. Holding her hand out, the Staff of Dragons and the Orb of Godly Talking appeared in her hands. WIth another, more artifacts came. She closed her eyes and wished herself away, but this time, there was nothing.

But they didn't know that....she hoped.

Kalia_Majere
07/05/2004 3:06 PM

Zakuro had listened to this upstart long enough.... perhaps she did hold the key to his revenge, but that didn't mean he really needed her alive. He was about to unleash some of his more powerful spells, when a tremor of power made him stop.

He whirled and saw exactly who he expected. "Karina..." He hissed. And with a wave of his hand, the room was warded, each wall sported a sikly red sigil, and each window and doorframe glowed the same sanguine color. He smiled, his handsome features twisted by the smile that was filled with a hate-filled triumph.

"Shall I start with you? I am quite sure that neither Wylin or Hiaku hold you 'dear' but you will stand in my way... " He sneered, and the same sanguine glow began to fill his aura. "I'll blast you into a dimension that you will never escape from!" He snarled, and reached his hand out.

A blast of wind slammed into Karina, a void of darkness that threatened to swallow the demi-goddess..... till both the orb and the staff began to pulse, a beat of old, tired magic that fought to stave off the void.....

PrincessOfDarkness
07/05/2004 3:28 PM

If Karina had not been prepared, the magic would have sent her flying off her feet and slamming into the wall. Thankfully, she had, and threw her hands up, her blood barely boiling when it had once shot in roaring fires...

She prayed to whatever gods remained to help her. Nuitari, Lunitari, even Solinari or Mishakal. They knew this was tipping the scales. They HAD to know. They HAD to help her.

For a flat second, the magic seared within her veins. A pain she hadn't felt in a long time...but a good one, nevertheless.

But now was the not the imt be revelling. It was only a moment, anyway. The fact was, she needed more magic. Otherwise she'd be sucked into this void thing that was cuasing her to sweat more then she had in her existance trying to fend it off.

Her fingers closed over a smooth, cold orb. Her favorite thing of all....her Orb of Godly Talking, granted to her before she had even known she was a demigoddess.

Once, it had been icy cold. The mist around it swoirled into the shapes of dragons. But now, it was empty. Nothing but a cold, onyx orb.

She pulled it out of her robe and held it in her fingers, "For you, my Queen..." She whispered, holding the orb tight enough to shatter it.

Her blood burned again. It would be only seconds now....

"Seriasin o'kor deri'ana!" There was a flash, a startling BANG! and Karina was gone again.

She reaapeared back with Calista, HIaku, and Kalia. Her face was soaked in sweat and her skin was a pale, sickly grey, simliar to the trees that were afflicted with the wasting sickness. A cut marred her cheek, red blood flowed. Mortal blood.

She noticed them staring at her, and all she could was think about how terribly screwed they were.

Kalia_Majere
07/05/2004 4:03 PM

Zakuro roared in anger, the wards brightened to a blood red, and every window shattered, the door splintered into a thousand pieces. He whirled on Mirisarl, his eyes blazing red. His power lashed out at her, but her gown barely rustled in the wave of power that washed over her.

Her black hair swirled around her head like a pair of wings before settling around her shoulders. She stared at him for a long moment, then began to laugh. "You see Shinjima? I know every trick, every eddy of power that you control... you have no hope of killing me now... so I suggest we just work together...or I will return you to that prison...." She snarled.

Shinjima's gaze smouldered, then cooled. "Fine.... " He snarled, then looked around the hut. "but we're taking some of this, I may find some use of these..." He said as he began to pluck random objects off of their shelves.

Glimmer stared at Karina, the shock in her eyes evidant. Hiaku stared at well, but he wasn't staring at Karina per say....but at the blood that marred her cheek...

Karina chuckled dryly through her heavy panting, leaving on her Staff heavily. She wiped the blood off her cheek with the back of her robe, then looked up at Hiaku, her eyes haunting, burdened with a defeat, "Always thought me god first, mortal second, didn't you, Hiaku? No, no, I am part mortal, I bleed.....and no longer do I heal so fast."

She took the moment to pant a few times, Karina closed her eyes and focused on the magic.

Her cheek healed, but that didn't stop the rest of her body from passing out from sheer exhaustion. Her grip on her staff tightening as she fell to the floor.

Hiaku didn't think, he just reacted.... with the Honor of his race. He darted forward, and caught Karina before her head could strike the ground. He stared at her in amazment, and lifted her easily into his arms. He stared at the staff and shivered, remembering once, not all that long ago when he stole this same staff from her, and how she swored she'd kill him for it.

"Now what?" He asked, at a complete loss, he looked from Calista to Glimmer in baffled confusion....

Hiaku blinked at Calista, obviously surprised that someone of this world would know his traditional name.

“Ah... yes... Shen-Lung, of the Tung Chan Clutch... I am Seimiya Hiaku—” He paused in his speech, and a whirl of silver wind obscured his form, when it faded, a human male stood before them. Dressed in blue and silver silk, a katana sword tied at his waist. He had long black hair, and today he wore it loose, framing his tanned face. His almond-shaped eyes could have labeled him an elf, save for the fact that his ears were definitely human.

“You, dear Lady, may call me simply, Hiaku.” He said, bowing stiffly at the waist.
Calista returned the bow with a graceful curtsey. “My mother,” she explained at the surprised look, “was one who liked to walk on other worlds. I do not believe she ever met one of your kind, Seimiya Hiaku, but she read and heard legends of you. When I was a hatchling, she told stories of her plane walking days to me.

“I am commonly known as Calista, daughter of Airiana and of Matthiass… Calistanoanlikathlik, bin Kilairiandralsilvantaslik et Tlomatthiassalonit.” She curtseyed again regally. “And you, high Lord, may call me Calista. Truly I am not worthy of being called ‘dear Lady’ by one of such power and strength as yourself.”

"This is not good...." He muttered. "If we cannot get them together, they will both suffer horribly, their pain ending only in death, of one or the other..." He paused a moment.
Calista looked from the Lung to the crystal dragoness, worry in her eyes. She did not want Crystalamira to die. But why should it matter? Why should I care? She thought to herself. It’s not as if anyone ever worried over me that way! Look at all that happened to me… why should I help her? She wondered bitterly, her look changing from worry to momentary anger. When I was down and broken, the world turned on me! No one helped! Why should I help someone when they are in the same position?

The dragoness snarled a moment and stalked off, circling the remnants of the dragon monument. ‘Because that is what you would have done before, that’s why, mother,’ a strong voice said in her mind. She whipped around to be met by the crystal blue eyes of Taetialreore, or Taet as he was commonly known. Her son, the silver dragon. The only one, so far, to come from her line that did not show much of his abomination heritage. He appeared to be a full silver dragon, though this was not so.

“What are you doing here, and what are you doing in my mind, child?” She growled at the teenaged dragon, glaring dangerously.

The pale boy smirked at his mother as he strolled around to meet her. His hair was cut short and was a silvery blonde. His crystal blue eyes watched her without malice in them. His clothing was plain and did not warrant much attention: the soft browns and grays that peasant folk generally wore. “I am here because there has been a shift in magic, and in dragonkind. I am in your mind because, from the look that you were giving everyone, I thought it necessary to find out your thoughts. Honestly, mother… you are acting very childish. Stop with all the darkness and sulking and do what you would have done before you gave in!” He nearly growled, a very superior tone in his voice.

With that, he walked off and bowed to Glimmer. “If my mother is too ill tempered to help you, Lady, I will most certainly do what I can. I am Taetialreore… or just Taet will do fine,” he smiled.

Calista looked like she was ready to kill her son, but calmed herself and walked back over. She came back just in time to catch Karina’s reappearance. “Very well…” She looked at Glimmer and then the others. “What can I do?” She saw the demigoddess faint and rushed over to her.

"Now what?" He asked, at a complete loss, he looked from Calista to Glimmer in baffled confusion....

She tried to revive her, but realized that it was more exhaustion than anything else and sighed. “Now we wait for her to wake up, then search out Navarre… I think that’s all we can do…”

Karina lay in Hiaku's arms, limp as a ragdoll. After several seconds, the staff finally slid from her grip and fell, rolling a little away, stopped at the shoed feet of a horse.

The horse reared, sensing the energy of the staff. It's rider stayed on, and calmed the beast, then dismounted.

The rider was about six feet or so, covered in a black cloak. The rider threw off her hood to reveal a feminine face, with just the faintest tints of elven blood. Her hair was black, streaked with gold, that laid around her shoulders. Her eyes twinled different colors, one a sparkling glistening gold, the other a cold, forbidding ebony. Her skin was pale, but not unhealthily so. She wore simple leather armor, and a pair of cotten pants, with a short sword on her side, and two daggers stuck in each one of her high military boots. One of these daggers, Hiaku would recognize. It was the same dagger that had been struck through Wylin, the soul stealing dagger carried by the Shinijima they now hunted.

She looked down at the staff, then up at Hiaku. Her face, though it looked only sixteen, was nearing twenty. Age lines were appearing already, lines she'd gotten from the lack of magic. She'd suffered even worse then her mother, given the fact she had even less divine blood.

That was why she had ridden here. She'd sensed her mother's trouble and her call before. Not being able to waste the magic, she'd mounted up and headed out ot the dragon moment.

Xreona picked up her mother's staff and shifted from hand to hand. She did not seem to notice Hiaku until after she had finsished her motions. She dropped the staff back onto the ground, commiting some serious sacrilege, then looked back up at the gathered party.

"Hiaku, Glimmer, Calista.....Why is my mother so faint?" Her eyes narrowed, a bit angrily.

"Well isn't that just wonderful. And none of us have the power to stop him anymore, excetp for you, Hiaku, and you didn't have the power to stop him to begin with. I suppose he's out for revenge and to kill everyone, but even with the weakened magic, it would be impossible for him to free himself. Who freed him, Hiaku?" She asked dryly, "I knew it as a terrible problem. Mother and I haven't spoken in years."

X looked at the fainted body of her mother. Her face was expressionless.

It was Glimmer who answered X this time.

"It was one of mine, Xreona... my youngest, Mirisarl." She grimaced in pain and her wings trembled. "She means the death of us all... she still blames me for Navarre's death... she has gained powers not of this realm.. and she has restored her Sire to life once again..."

She says this with a tremor in her voice, and she fixed her eyes once again on the shattered crystal.

He had been locked away in that bottle for..... for some time.... though the exact details eluded him at present. Zakuro would find out though, even if it were from the dead remains of Karina, the bitch would pay for imprisoning him, him! Zakuro Shinjima! A demon of unsurpassed power, or so was once thought, as his eyes strayed to the woman.... thing....that freed him. Still, he would find a way, if nothing he was resourceful, and still his contacts would be there to lend him aid when needed. That is if they had not fled after his downfall. Finished with collecting several of the items in the room, he turned fully to Mirisarl. " I am ready to leave, I assume you have no problems with that, my great and ever fair Saviour. ", the sarcasm was heavy and dripping from every uttered word.

With a casual wave of his hand, a circle of red light surrounded his feet, some 4ft in diameter, glowing, pulsing sigals and glyphs strewn about it also, " Come then, it has been too long since I have gazed upon my home..... "

Calista nodded to X at her arrival, and cleared her throat at the girl's irritation. "Perhaps not seperately, but together we should... a mind and power link can be a very powerful thing. All that would need to be done is for one person to be the focus.. that person would have to be strong enough to handle that much power coming into them." She looked around the group, pausing on each one for a moment, then smirked. "But I really don't think that'd be a problem with the group we have here. All of us are used to handling quite a bit of power... at least, before the Fall, that is..."

"She has gained powers not of this realm.. and she has restored her Sire to life once again..."

Xreona snorted, "The fact of the matter is, silver, is that if Miri can break Zakuro's cage and restore Navare to life, we're dealing with power that hasn't been dulled by the loss of magic on Krynn. Two of them, for that matter."

She tucked a golden strand of hair behind her ear, then turned to Calista, "We're dealing with two super strong beings. When the Goddess was here, I'm sure we'd be fine. But as of now I am going to continue being skeptical."

A soft groan emitted from Karina's limp form. She turned her head and groaned again, opening her eyes and looking up at Hiaku, "What....happened?"

Hiaku eased Karina to the ground, knowing she would resent the fact that he had caught her. "You passed out from exhaustion.... are you going to be alright?" He asked.

Glimmer turned to the young silver, and shook her head. "Yes and no youngling... Our creation was a simple ploy to bring more of our kind into this world... Miri and the rest.... Miri was always a quiet youngling... always quick to judge. But that at hand is neither here nor there... the simplicity of it was when Navarre and I reached our Mature states... we simply couldn't live without the other at hand. She held out her right claw hand. a glimmering black crystal ring encircled one talon.

"We had worked a magic that would allow us to be apart when we needed to be... but now with that magic gone, the magic of the Dark Queen, and the SkyFather, the spell no longer works properly." The claw hand trembled slightly and she pulled it back.

"what I want to know is, he feels the same pain right? Then why hasn't he come to you?" Hiaku wondered.

Glimmer shook her head, and fixed her eyes on the ground. "I don't know."

"Exhaustion..." she snorted, picking up her staff from the ground and giving X a good smack to the back of the head with it, cutting off any complaints the younger magess would have to say with her own words, "Exhaustion....do mortals deal with this all the time? How in the name of the Lost Goddess do you survive?" She rolled her eyes and looked to Hiaku and Glimmer.

She crossed her arms and slid her hood back over her face, which was returning quickly to it's darkgrey tinge. She crossed her arms, the staff in one fist. She smirked, and shook his head, "Apparently, neither of you have either worked with the dead before. If your child, Crystalamira, brought him back by getting his spirit first and creating a new body for Navare, then your magic would not apply to him, becuase it causes you pain on your body, when you sense his spirit. Since he has a new body, he wouldn't get the pain. He may not even sense your spirit becuase the magic was wound on his old body. If she regenerated his body, he may have a new spirit, to suit her bidding and not remember anything of his past life. And she could not have brought back both, becuase that requires power not even I had when the Goddess was here. Pure revival is only possible by gods and goddesses. She is clearly neither. And if she has used another method, I do not know what it is from so little information."

At her silence, her daughter cocked an eyebrow, "You've brought back things from the dead, mother?"

"Yes, I've done that. Before you were born."

"Why did you smack me?"

"Do not disrespect the Goddess. You saw the staff, you should have picked up and put it somewhere safe. You know that, X."

"The Goddess is dead, mother and nothing you can say or do can change it. You could bring her back, but she wouldn't be your Goddess. She'd jusut be your mother."

Had her hood been down, X and the others would have seen her eyes glint in rage. Her grip tightened on the staff in the slightest as shelooked at everyone, "What do you all suggest now?"

Glimmer shook her head. "Something seems wrong with that logic Karina... she is using magic not of this world..." She looked to the shattered remains of the crystal. "The crystal housed Navarre's body... the crystal is shattered and his body is gone... if the spirit link remains between us, then he would feel it wether or not she used his original body... the cause of his death was magical.. not physical, his body was more or less unharmed when I found him..."

She looked to Hiaku. Hiaku stared at the shattered crystal. "Our magic would allow her to re-animate the body and retrieve the spirit from the ether-plane. There have been many cases when the dead have returned to life that they do not remember much of their true life... it is a re-birth of sorts and just as when we are reborn in a new body we do not remember, rarely anyway, our previous lives."

He paused and shook his head. "He may very well be feeling the pain that you do, or at the least, to a lesser extent than you... but he may not understand what it is, or how to deal with it....

Miri followed Zakuro with a look of contempt. "We have one other to find before we can continue with this Zakuro... I assure you, he will be most willing to help you on this."

With a wave of her hand, Zakuro's sullen red sigils deepened to black, and the pair vanished from Karina's hut. They reappeared in a shadowed glen, Navarre's form could be seen curled up in the center, in a shaft of sunlight. Miri glanced at Zakuro, and smirked.

"I know how much you Adore sunlight, so I suggest you stay here." She said, and swept past him. Her long black robes rustled softly against the grass and dirt. Her long black hair gleamed in the sunlight and softly, gently reached out one slender hand, to lightly brush her fingertips against Navarre's trembling shoulder.

With a snarl, Navarre's head snapped up, his sullen red eyes fixed on his daughter. "Who do you think you are to touch me?" He growled, twin rows of jagged teeth gleamed as he reared his head up.

"It is me, Father, Mirisarl...." She said, her head bowed in reverance. Navarre looked at her cautiously, obviously not convinced.

"Allow me to prove it." She said and again reached out her hand, this time, her hand brushed the ridge of scales above his narrowed eyes.

In a flash he saw himself, another , and the nest of crystal... and watched in facination as the four eggs hatched, each bearing its' twin occupants to the world. The last to crawl free, was a tiny female, with wings still sticky and wet, her amber eyes fixed immediatly upon his.

When the vision faded, Miri had reverted to her true form. Her black crystal scales glimmered dully in the sunlight. Navare's eyes lost their suspicious glare, and he nodded. "Miri... I remember you now... what has happened?" He trembled, his wings rustling softly, his claws digging in to the soil deeply as a wave of pain washed over him...

"I brought you back through the Grey... It was Her fault that you died.... it is her fault that you are in such pain now...." Miri hissed, her amber eyes gleaming with hate.

"Who? Her?" He questioned dully as the pain faded to a dull ache... a longing, a feeling that he was not quite complete.

"Crystalamira... your former mate, my mother... She did not aid you when you needed it most... she let you die at the hands of the Red Malys... She was glad to see you die..." she snarled.

Navarre Growled, the reverberating snarl grew in intensity, hatred gleaming in his sullen red eyes...

"How Dare She!?" He growled, scrambling to his feet, stretching his wings, ready to find the one who was closest to his heart...the one who ultimately betrayed him in the end....

Karina shrugged, "I'm only suggesting...if she did use magic of another word, then I am in the light...becuase I would rather prefer being in the dark."

Xreona just about imitated the gesture, making them look very much like mother and daughter, "your magic, your stage, Hiaku Seimiya. But, if Miri really is as evil as you say she is, she'll think of the most painful way to attack those she love. In which case, that'll be you, Glimmer." X looked over at her mother, her golden eye darkening, "And in which, she'll send your own love after you."

"My daughter has a good point," Karina said somewhat grudgingly, "And Hiaku's point slides in with it. Miri will tell Navare that Glimmer was the one to attack him."

"Right...well I suppose we go where They would find us easiest... there is no sense hiding from this lot... we all know better, especially when it comes to Shijima... Now...that location would probably be right where we stand... or do any of you know of a better place? even where we could find others to help?" Hiaku asked, directing his question more to Xreona and Calista rather than Karina.

Zakuro merely watched with a dispassionate glare as the touching reunion of father and daughter unfolded before him. He could not however deny that he was mildly impressed. Navarres' power was known to him, his darkness more so, something akin, yet entirely apart from his perception. Treading carefully with his words, but rolling his broosing eyes, Zakuro spoke up. " Might we continue on my dear.... or do we have another relative of yours to pick up on the way? "

Navarre issued a warning rumble deep in his throat, and turned his massive head towards Zakuro. "Who are you...?" He snarled, his eyes narrowing suspiciously.

"Simply a means to an end Father... He holds a great grudge against my elder sister, Wylin and her mate, a dragon not of this realm. Mother saw it more fit to help them than you..." Miri said with a lazy drawl to her voice.

"There is nothing simple to our world Miri...and the means to an end would equally mean the means to a new begining. I would have thought that you would have remembered that." Navarre rumbled.

Miri stopped and looked at her father in surprise... could his spirit recover so quickly? this would not work well if he remembered everything.... With a brisk and nonchalant manner, she slipped past Navarre's form and joined Zakuro in the shadow.

"Come, Shijima... Magic of our kind is powerful in this world... but sometimes at great cost... we should travel a more conventional means.... I will carry you if you like." She said, contempt in every word.

Navarre stared up at the sky, and spread his enormous wings, each feather gleaming black and violet in the waning sunlight.

At first he was ever so reluctant to lower himself to travelling on a beast, even one as powerful and majestic as Miri, however, in the end, he had to concede, " Very well my dear.... I suppose you do have a point. ", he waited for her to prepare herself, his eyes then glancing to Navarre. There was something not entirely appealing about this situation, but his lust for revenge drove him forward, seeking the allies and power needed. Though in this Age, with the two most powerful of Gods stricken with death or mortality, their powers were dimished, and easy pickings....

Calista shook her head and sighed. "I can think of no where else they would go, except for maybe to Kalia and Navarre's nest, and as for people who could help us.. there are very few with power left in this world, and most would be unwilling to help us." She said, her arms crossed over her chest. A moment's glance at Taet showed that he had no better ideas either.

"No one this company would approve of," Xreona responded, chuckling, "And those who ~would~ lend me their aid couldn't hurt a fly." She rolled her eyes and strolled away from her mother, sitting down on the ground, cross-legged, "But, i suppose if we're that desperate, I think I still a few demons still owe me favors."

Karina gave Hiaku a little smirk, "And what about MY companions, Hiaku? Not quite fond of my company, I see...ah well, if he comes and tries to kill us all, I"m asking for them, whether you like or not." She gave him a black-lipped smile that could melt butter.

Mirisarl waited patiently for Shijima to climb onto her back...Tendrils of shadow acted as a type of saddle and harness... the shadow-ropes crossing her chest. She spread her wings, and leaped into the air with a powerful shove from her hind legs. Her wings swept downward and then back up again, in a powerful motion...

Navarre followed Miri, only one tail length behind her. While his bulk was considerably much more than her own frame, he still managed to over take her, he was at least twice his own length ahead of her before she could even blink...

Straining her wings, she whispered a spell that hastened her speed, and she managed to keep three lengths behind her sire at all times... though now she wondered... what would she do if he would happen to turn on her... She shook her head, better not to think of such things quite yet... and still she had a loose control over Shijima. She knew how to return him to his prison, and she even knew a few other tricks that she was sure would be even worse than just that simple imprisonment....

Hiaku watched Glimmer closely... he knew that by her reaction they would know how close Navarre was. His attention sharpened as he noticed that her trembling form grew slowly still, her ragged breathing began to smooth... They were coming....

Miri banked sharply to stare down at the clearing below... what remained of the asinine monument that Crystalamira had erected at the site of Navarre’s demise was scattered in shards of gleaming smoky crystal. Navarre circled once and then folded his wings halfway and dove for the ground.

Glimmer looked up before anyone else; Hiaku followed her gaze and his eyes widened in horror as he saw Navarre arrowing down for them...

“Scatter!” Came his belated cry, as his form returned to that of the blue and silver serpentine dragon. Using his Chi'in Ming abilities, he was able to rise into the air, his form moving as if the air were water. He turned in time to see Miri heading right for him, her claws extended, as she made for a landing... She grazed his side, her claws raking shallow furrows against his scales. Only able to touch him because he was half-frozen in shock at seeing Shijima on her back.

Navarre landed before Glimmer could take to the skies, and their eyes locked.

“Betrayer...” He snarled, the crest of black crystalline scales on his head raised in a threatening display... His fangs bared in anger, obsidian claws digging furrows to scar the ground below his feet. Glimmer’s eyes dilated in sudden fear, her entire form shivering in shock as if someone had doused her with icy water. Her heart raced in her chest, the pulse pounding in her ears as she watched him. She hadn’t felt such fear of him since their mating...

“Have you nothing to say? Nothing at all? Is the accusation against you true? You didn’t come to my aid?” He snarled in barely contained fury. His amber eyes blazing.

Glimmer lowered her head in shame. The crown of eight horns scraped against her neck. “I did not... I could not... the attack was so swift, you didn’t even call out to me! You took half of my being with you when that vicious snake took your life...” She lamented, her eyes searching his beseechingly.

“I’ll destroy all of your being!” He roared and darted forward, claws and fangs gleaming...

Hiaku rounded on Mirisarl, his magic shielding him from the worst of her magic... at least the worst that she has thrown at him thus far.... He didn’t know if his shields would hold out much longer.

“I’ll handle this....” Came a cold voice that made Hiaku shiver involuntarily.

Shijima leaped from Miri’s back, his magic destroying the shade-saddle that was once holding him to the wyrms’ back. Shijima smiled, the smile so cold, it would have rivaled the icewall in the chills that it gave Hiaku...
“You’ll bow down to me once again Hiaku... soon enough...” He said, his voice deceptively sweet. Revulsion washed through Hiaku, the sickeningly sweet voice made him vaguely ill.

“Never...” Hiaku spat, as he reverted to his human form, the more elaborate clothing he now wore marked him as Shijima’s equal in power now... at least equal to what Shijima had once been. His long black hair was unfettered, and the blue and silver silk moved in waves as the wind supported him.

“You’ll never again control me.” He snarled hatred visible in his golden eyes. His thoughts reached out to Wylin whose mind had reached out to him to make sure he was alright... her worry comforted him, and enabled him to reassure her that he was fine... that she was in no condition to be rushing off to help him... The thoughts of their unborn child made him smile fondly... only to realize that Shijima had reached out as well, and understood every nuance of thought.

“Ah, how sweet... Rest assured, they too will be mine... if only to control you!” Shijima drawled. The hatred within Hiaku climaxed and he reacted all too predictably, and attacked Shijima with a careless fury, while Zakuro Shijima only laughed.

Back in Solace Vale, Wylin paced with deepening worry in the lair that she and Hiaku shared. Her long hair the color of burnished steel gleamed in the light that the crystals set at strategic intervals gave off. She wore a gown of pale blue silk, her cobalt blue eyes dark with fear and worry.... She had felt that disturbingly familiar presence, and it made her tremble.

Her hands spread across her protruding belly... she had chosen to bear their child, she knew that there was only one, in the mortal fashion, giving this dragon stronger ties to humanity....

The responding kick made her smile and she looked up to the brilliant blue sky above her, and made her mind up in that single instant... she had to go to him, of only to act as a healer if needed...

“Mother, Hiaku I’m coming...” She whispered softly as she shifted, not without some difficulty, but she managed to take to the skies without hindrance; Her silver-gray crystalline scales glittered in the waning sunlight...

Karina jumped back, her eyes staring daggers into Zakuro. She had nothing to say or do, only stood there, leaning heavily on her staff. Her lips were pressed shut, her eyes a pair of black abysses that seemed to only hold rage. She did not know what to do this time. And Karina ~always~ knew what to do.

Her mind raced with possibilities. She would ~never~ ally herself with that demon again. She could not fight him straight up, she'd lose so badly it'd be a joke.

There were other options, of course. She could summon a demon, but that would put her out for a week. She could flee, but her pride would never let her live that down. she could ask for help from her brother. He'd never let her live THAT one down either. Finally, her mind made up, Karina closed her eyes and whispered a prayer to her Goddess' memory. She took a deep breath, and then was gone in a breeze of magical energy.

Her daugher, of course, we not so pleased. Before X had time to comment, she noticed HIaku's blind attacking, and shook her head. WIth reflexes inhumanely fast, her hand shot out an grabbed the back of the dragon's shirt before he could reach the demon, sending him flailing backwards, "Are you mad?" She hissed in a whisper into his ear, "Do you REALLY think he's going to let you pummel him? are you asking for another bracelet? You have no brains." She then let him from her grasp she had on his shirt, and stood next to Hiaku, "You're like an annoying itch. You just keeping coming back. Really." She said, giving Shijima a casual smirk.

Hiaku struggled against X for a moment, his eyes blazing with fury... Then he felt Wylin's mind touch his again, and he realized that it was now much stronger... He stood next to X, fear making him tremble with barely contained fury.

Hiaku risked a glance to the skies behind Shijima... and his heart leaped in his chest, and a sickening feeling curled in his stomach. The waning sunlight shone on the winged form of a dragon, the glittering light could have only come from one of Glimmer's Children....

He didn't care what Shijima did to him... all that mattered was that he kept Wylin and their unborn child away from this monster....

Miri watched with a smug smile as her Father attacked Glimmer.... Glimmer never attacked back, only doged or blocked every blow... her failing magic sheilding her from his deadly breath attack... the black flames licked at the trees... causing them to wither to ash in seconds, sending their life energy back to him... making his eyes blaze with power.

Glimmer shrunk away from her mate... She hadn't felt the brunt of his fury since they had met... and she wasn't sure if she could even stand up to him, she knew she would loose a precoius part of herself if she drew his blood.

"Navarre... Darkenhart... Please... don't do this! Mirisarl has tricked you... I tried, even with my power there was no way I could've gotten to you in time!" Glimmer too, had seen the shimmer of crystalline scales, and her dispair grew... perhaps....

Glimmer stopped evading the attacks... Her wings folded and her head hung low. Navarre froze... wary, watching her closely....

The glittering form flew fast, much faster than either of her parents, her wings being much narrower... Windrider(Wylin to us mortals) winged her way toward her tretcherous sibling, claws extended, jaws gaping as she arrowed down, attacking her sister with the force of a hawk on a rabbit....

Miri howled in rage, but was no match for Wylin's strength, as she was half again Miri's weight, her long narrow wings strong, and she kept them aloft to keep Miri from damaging them.

"Tretcherous SNAKE!" Windrider roared, her blue eyes narrowed in fury. Miri shrank back.. she knew she wasn't a match in brute strength, but her magic was stronger than Wylins'. MidnightStar raked her claws across Windrider's chest, unable to do much damage but for scratching the crystalline scales.

"Wylin! NO!!" Glimmer cried, and was echoed by Hiaku.

Navarre blinked, Glimmer's cry echoed in his mind, causing him to shake his head as though his ears were rigning. Something was wrong here... something.... The madness left his eyes, and he glanced at his middle daughter... and noted what Miri was about to do....

With a snarl, Navarre darted away from Glimmer, and barred Miri's path to Wylin, his wings buffeted his youngest, making her stumble backwards....

"I don't know about you, MOther," Xreona commented, glancing from Hiaku, to Glimmer, to Navare and then Wylin, avoiding Miri, "But these dragons are hopelessly confusing me."

"No, I"m confused too," Karina replied, "They seem to be very mixed up as far as who is bad and who is good. This time, at least." She leaned heavily on her staff, "But I think Navare came to his sense. No matter, really. As long as Shijima...where...is....he..." Her sentence trailed off as she looked around, clutching the staff now, "X! Where's Zakuro?!"
