"I'm sorry Kerrick i didn't realize. My grandmother died not to long ago. So i had to stop training, I figured I could make a profit selling her old stuff and complete my training like she wanted me to." he looked to the north at the new comer

Chris arrived at the training ground shortly after Gecko. As he entered the clearing he saw him and unsheathed his swords. Stalking towards the odd creature, he threw his swords into the ground leaving them hilt up.

"I guess I should thank you for saving me back there. I do not remember what happened and I seem to be a bit rusty with my fighting skills. How about a quick match?" Chris said, one eye-brow raised and a smile on his face.

Caelin
01/18/2005 1:58 PM

Caelin approached and spoke up, his voice colder then usual and his eyes locked onto Chris. "You can fight all you want, provided you take it to the arena that was made for it. If you need a referee, one can be provided for you." His eyes narrowing slightly, he added onto that statement. "Although I know of better ways to waste your time, then to challenge someone to a fight, even if it is a friendly one."

Swift and nimble he crouched down, drew a rune on the ground between chris' feet, then stepped back. With a smirk he watched vines shoot out of the ground, entangling the young man's feet. "I suggest you use that toothpick of yours to cut yourself free. To make it a challenge, for every three you cut, another two will grow."

With a glimmer of laughter in his eyes, he took another few paces back and just sat there, curiously looking what Chris' next action would be. To be sure nothing drastic would happen, a single rune he traced on the floor in front of him, yet to the naked eye, nothing seemed to happen, besides his grin getting wider that is.

A bird tried to fly over him, but was thrown off course. The air around the elf seemed to have densed.

01/18/2005 4:04 PM

Gecko drove his glaive into the groound, leaving it at easy access.

"A fight should not be weighted against any one combatant in an area such as this."

He patiently waited fro chris to cut all the vines before removing his weapon from the ground and crouching low to the ground. With his slouch and long arms he looked surprisingly like an orc with a thyroid problem and claws. He waited for his daversary to attack.

(OOC whoops. I guess I meant to put training arena instead of training grounds (I was already there!). haha. Oh well.)

"What?" Chris looked questioningly at the elf. "I haven’t done anything," he tried to plead his case though the elf wasn't listening to any of it. Chris slowly drew out his twin swords and began vigorously cutting at the entangling vines. He cut through the first few with ease, and thinking himself free, tried to step forward, only to be tripped up by even more of the annoying plants.

"Damn spells," he muttered to himself, rising back to his feet and resuming the mundane work.

Kellie reached into her bag to put her flute away because she saw the Fox eying it when she found her pair of sai. She placed them on her belt. She turned, to the new guy and said "You do realize that elves don't age quickly right? I mean my grandfather could pass for 35 - 45 in age. Mean while I look like I'm 16 or something....><" She then quickly turned, due to a noise. "Fluffy!" She screamed with excitment, as a cat ran up to her then into her arms.
The cat took one good look at Kerrick and got a murderous look in his eye.

Gecko flicked a ball of energy into the vines under chris, heatlessly incinerating most of them.

"I'm getting it all back. When your ready,"

Gecko shifted positions but only slightly, shifting his weight and moving his legs a little farther apart.

"Yes i realise that some of my friends were elves" he opened his bag and pulled out a bottle and gave it to Bip. Then he pulled out a stone with strange markings on it "can you translate this for me, I think it's in elven

LibraRabbit
01/19/2005 3:16 AM

Kellie looked at the stone and thought. "I believe it says Hope. I'm not to sure though cause its written in the ancient writting." She looked at the stons some more. Meanwhile her cat was still looking at Kerrick with a murderous look in his eye. It was plotting...

Seeing his little fun spoiled, the elf drew another rune in mid-air then grinned at Gecko. "Looks like the weather is turning, I hope you have a firm stance?"

Above his head a cloud formed and rain began to fall upon his head.

"One word of advise, do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crispy and go well with a mushroom sauce." he stated with a grin and watched how Gecko would solve this, as he remained seated within his shielding.

Kellie looked up at the sky. She was holding her crystal flute. She looked at her flute then back to the sky and her eyes began to water thinking of her past.
her cat, sitting on her sholder, was purring and rubbing his face agenced hers to try to make her happy. Kellie wasnt sad though, jsut lost in her memories as her eyes seemed to cloud over.

He wiped the ash off of his face "you look sad"

Kellie looked at Elgowin and snapped back to real world.
"Oh sorry I'm not really sad. I was just thinking of the past."
She sat on the ground near Elgowin
"I just.....I miss my family. See my mother died after I was born and my Father was ordered to Conited Sepoku when I was only 3. Then I lived with my grandfather until I was 15. Then I wandered for 6 years now. Things happened in those last 6 years which I would tell you maybe when you are older."
She stood up and placed her hand on top of his head and smiled.
Fluffy was playing with Bip. (tug o' war with Kerrick's wallet)

Glimmer watched the figure circle lower, the details of the approaching dragon becoming more and more apparent. A deep, shining black, each scale faceted and shimmering in the sunlight. This black dragon was itentical in structure to the huge crystal dragon that lounged in the coutyard. With black faceted crystal scales, and black feathered wings that almost seemed purple under the right light.

Navarre circled once more before slowing his decent, backwinging furiously to land easily. He was a bit larger than Glimmer, and his eyes were a deep amber. His gaze narrowed for a moment when he saw Airiana, but softened when he gazed at Glimmer.

Graceful as a cat, he made his way towards Glimmer, folding his wings with dignity. When he was within tail's length from her, he stretched his supple neck out, and his muzzle touched hers, a soft rumbling could be heard in his throat.

She looked at Elgowin and giggled. she then watched bip and fluffy continue to play tug o' war.

"Hm? Sorry, I wasn't quite here." The man smiled. "I'm getting old you must know, young elf, older than you could imagine. I'm very well aware of elves' long lifes but I speak of spans of time, few elves could think of. Oh, forgive me! I forgot to introduce myself. I am the Teller of Stories and Sam is the name I go with now. Long long time I have in my memory and many tales to tell."
He looked at the spectacle those people were making with vines and rainclouds. And he took a look at the dragon. Then, with a wave of his hand he disappeared and reappearded in front of Caelin. With a bow he said: "Sir, how is magic handled here? Can I cast spells I know without rules? How can I be sure that my spell was of valid effect? (in OOC words: How do I do damage, be it magic or weapon? How are my actions on others handled?)"

"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!" he takes out a beer and begins to drink.

01/20/2005 5:35 AM

With the audible arrival of Navarre, Caelin looked up and suddenly lost interest in his little game with the two combattants. He rose to his feet and revoked the spell he had casted, then began to walk towards the dragons. Knowing that dragons can be cautious about things unknown, he remained at a slight distance, until the black dragon had become accustomed to him, or for Glimmer to introduce them. At this distance however, he studied Navarre more closely, taking in the details and trying to memorize them for later use.

To stay on the safe side, he refrained from shifting at this point. Glimmer was able to restrain herself from attacking, but for this male this may not be the case, as they usually are more competitive then the females.

"When he came to his senses the elf looked at the inferno around him.

Name: Aruin
Age: 18
Hair: brown
eyes: pale blue, grey pupils
Skin: light tan
Occupation: knight
Hieght: 6'

allignment: unknown

Backround: a mysterious young adult with a odder haunted look upon his face.

"looks like your having some trouble with that fire, lads."

he quickly uttered a few words and the blazing inferno was reduced. but not gone.

"Uh....."the man remarked, as he quickly looked about, his face turning redder and redder. "I meant to do that...yeah..." looking around in a panic.

Chris watched him advance, his glaive menacingly before him.

"Uh.... But.... That guy..... Oh, what the hell," he said as he pulled his twin short-swords from their sheaths. The polished blades sent rays of sunlight in every direction as he traced the air before him, then finally rested them out front, ready to defend the oncoming attacks.

With his armor glistening as the sunlight filtering through the branches, Cyres made his way through the dense forest. He was slim but muscular, with deep, long, brown hair. His chain armor shone a bright white silver, the color of mithril, very much the same, his long Halberd gleamed.

About three days ago, he had overheard talk of a dragon flying overhead. He knew what he had to do... Eventually, he found someone with knowledge of where the dragon might have been headed. His information led Cyres to a so called "Training Arena" where all the uprising warriors ended up.

He finally came to what seemed to be a clearing. As he reached the crest of the hill, an inviting site came into view... Along with a menacing one. It looked as if there was a figure aproaching two rather large dragons. *This isn't going to end well.* He thought to himself as he drew near... his hand on the hilt of his halberd.

"Without alchohol I have nothing!" he screamed as he began to charge.

Caelin
01/21/2005 7:24 AM

Caelin turned his head towards the approaching figure of Cyres, smiled and moved a little closer to the dragons, where he sat on the ground. Now very close to Glimmer, but a little further away from Navarre, he fixed his gaze on the large black dragon. He spoke in a clearly audible voice, meant to be heard by both the dragons, as well as the approaching figure. "For a minute, when you were soaring through the sky, I thought your feathers were a deep hue of purple, but up close the are black indeed. An astonishing sight actually. Would you mind if I took a closer look at those scales and feathers? Ah, but where are my manners, my name is Caelin Earebrion, battlemage by trade and shapeshifter by nature, albeit I could use more practice." The elf grinned and looked at Navarre, whom he had been addressing.

He turned his head in Glimmer's direction and asked her a question. "Glimmer, what type of dragon exactly are you and this other wonderful dragon? Where are the both of you from in origin?" His eyes sparkled with curiousity. "Magnificent, the only other species I know of, that can possibly outlive an elf. A real shame that so much blood has been shed in the past between our races, when they should have shared their knowledge to better the life of both races, don't you think, Glimmer?"

Diabloslayer52

Aruin quickly muttered "pyrathonos" followed by a quick hand gesture before the torrent hit him. By no means did it stop the flood, but was able to divert it enough so he wasn't thoroughly soaked. Nor was he incopacitated. His enemies seemed to be in a different postion, however. Glancing upon the fellow who was hit with the stream as well, he quickly assesed he was not a threat. By god, it looked like by the time he was doe, he would have trouble getting up. The other adversary didn't seem too interested in fighting him, either, so Aruin replaced his sword into his tiny pack. "so, what are you travelers doing here?" He questioned, slowly seating himself. He added "and why does this fellow over here seem so intent on killing you? Wasn't he in your party?"

Glimmer smiled kindly, while Navarre puffed out his chest with pride. "Perhaps we should speak in our human forms? Would be much easier on thy neck since it is twisted in such an awkward position for a long talk..."

With a whispered word, Glimmer reverted back to her human form, her long silver hair tumbled in loose waves down her back, her golden eyes bright wtih amusment. The black crystal dragon rumbled something, then sighed.

Folding his wings against his back, Navarre closed his eyes in concentration. With in moments, his form shrank, his wings becoming a flowing black cloak, and his features refining into elvin origin. His long black hair fell unchecked down his back, and his hands clutched at an ebony staff.

Jet, as Navarre was known to most humans offered Caelin a calculating look before moving to Kalia's side. She smiled and slipped her arm around his, resing her head against his arm.

"Navarre and I are the only two surviving scions of the gods. Our siblings... well it's a much more complicated stor, and perhaps we'll go in depth on it someday. Suffice to say, we are Crystal dragons. The only two to fly the skies of Krynn, save for our children.

As Cyres drew near the former dragons, his eyes widened. A sight that he had not seen for ages had just occured in the oddest of circumstances. He had come here to investigate what he thought was hostile, when in fact he found the very race that he had sworn to protect.

"Well then it looks as if I have been misinformed once again." He said when he reached the group of strangers. "Greetings, I am Cyres of the former kingdom of Crandor. I was told that some dragons were seen flying over-head in a small village on the other side of that forest. It seems that my 'sources' have no knowledge of what a real dragon looks and behaves like." He thought to himself about how convinced the old man in the tavern was, that he had seen a true dragon. "I guess its getting harder and harder to find good information these days. Ah but where are my manners? What are your names?"

He peered around the large courtyard, where several warriors could be seen training in the distance.

"Come to think of it... what is this place exactly?"

Chris rose to his feet, pulling his twin short swords out in front of him. Atropis seemed to be focused on them, paying little attention to Chris as he slowly advanced towards his opponent.

Chris slowly reversed his grip on his left sword, then spun around before Atropis. His right sword slashed down while his left completed the move, following the right sword in turn and reverse thrusting for his opponents chest while Chris was facing the other way.

Caelin
01/22/2005 3:09 PM

The elf looked at Navarre with a friendly smile and stepped aside when the latter moved towards Glimmer. "Well now, Glimmer already knows this, but since Neither Navarre nor our new arrival are informed, allow me to introduce myself more thoroughly. I am Caelin, a Lythari elf, battlemage by trade and a shapeshifter by nature. Dragons are somewhat of an interest to me, as I can assume the form of one, which Glimmer can confirm to."

"Perhaps it is a dragon they saw flying overhead in that village, but that does necessarily mean that it was one, Cyres. I have recently learned that aside from assuming the looks of a dragon, I can also adjust the color I transform myself into, although I must admit that the amount of detail involved in assuming the form of one of your race, Glimmer, would possibly be beyond my ability. I would however love to hear of your offspring someday. I myself have travelled all my life, wandering from world to world, searching knowledge and a greater skill in my abilities. Most of my race tend to stay near their homes, which they either defend savagely, or they simply seem to vanish in thin air. We are known to be an elusive race, but I chose to live my life outside of this pattern of behaviour."

Caelin told a bit of his background, his specialisation in runic magic and some of the things he had done in life. During this talk, he gestured with his arms from time to time, that gave both Glimmer and Navarre a glimpse of metal from under the sleeves of his shirt. Too smooth to be chain, yet it looked to be intricately engraved with runic patterns.

"Now I have heard that some dragons can revert to an elven form, but never saw this done before. Tell me something, if you please, is this the most natural humanoid lifeform for your race to transform to, or has this grown from an extensive contact with them?"

Kalia_Majere
01/22/2005 4:27 PM

Jet nodded once. "From extensive contact...My homeland wasn't of Ansalon. A powerful race of elves known as the Kirioyal roamed the lands I once..." He paused for a moment, clearing his throat as he glanced at Kalia. "Inhabited."

Kalia glanced at Jet and offered him a small smile. She understood his hesitation, as he once nearly destroyed the Kirioyal, she even remembered their leader, a spirited woman named Kynia and her companion, Kyel.

"Yes I too have heard of this type of dragon. I saw one once, right before my kingdom was.... well I'm not one to beat around the bush so to speak... masacred. You see, the former realm was beautiful, but ridden with destructive dragons. My particular regimine of the royal guard, was specially trained to deal with these attacks. Every recruit was well tought in all matters of the dragon race. However one day, a stranger came to the castle gate requesting an audience with the king. Of course we allowed a short meeting, just like everyone else. This one was different. He told of a very powerful dragon, on its way to our kingdom. None of the royal guard beleived him. It was nowhere near the normal time the dragons attack. He simply gave us a final heed and was gone.
About three days later, he was seen in the local inn. No one thought anything of it, just a wanderer taking a short rest from his adventures right? The next day," Cyres glimpsed his doublet. the dark blue cloth that covered the mithril chain was endowed with a golden circle, surrounding a silver eagle. This was the sign of the royal guard, which Cyres in particular, wore with pride. "It struck. It cought us off-guard. Only I, and a few of the others, were left. As the dragon drew closer, a dark shadow was cast upon him. A silver dragon swooped in from the sky and stuck the beast down with a single blow. When the dust cleared, only the dragon and that single wanderer were left."

"THIS IS FOR MY SAKE!!!"

Kerrick looked at Kellie and screamed
"Death to you too, Lizard Queen!!!" he said he began to engage Kellie
The ensuing fight was amazing. There were a flurry of blows and parrys. Kerrick knew he would probaly lose to this evil death lizard.
"Hey look over there!" Kerrick aid pointing
"Where?" said the lizard in Kellies voice BONK Kerrick hit the Queen with the hilt of his sword and ran away drawing his bow he drew an arrow and prepared to fire.

Kerrick looked at Aruin running around in cirlces.

Aruin removed the arrow from his rear, cast a healing spell on himself, and nailed Kerrick's foot to the ground. "Absolutely hilarious" Aruin remarked as he smiled at kerrick.

Alright, Aruin thought to himself, enough fun. He quickly removed the arrow, and cast his healing spell on Kerrick. The healing spell also usually sobered people up, but on a 50-50 chance. Right now, Aruin didn't care. Sober, he can talk to kerrick like a normal human being. Drunk? He's taken care of by his allies. Right now, Aruin wanted answers.

The first thing, "Where am i?"

When the blizzard hit Iros was strolling through the woods. Shards of ice and snow blew through and left little cuts on his face before he could bring up his cloak to shield himself. "what is this wizardry?" he whispered to himself. Franticly he searched for a shelter. The shock of the tempature dropping thirty degrees was slowly slipping away. THERE! There was a cave that dug into the cliff side. It was shelter and it was better than freezing to death. He sprinted to it. Within the safety of the cave he gathered a pile dried brush and stick.

He clasped his hands together then blew into them. When he pulled them apart a tiny flame appeared in his right hand. He cast it into the rubbish. With a WHOOSH the pile ignited. Iros rubbed his hands together and warmed them in front of the fire. He tied to find a comfortable place in the fire-lite cave; although, he had not expected to stop on this journey.

Diabloslayer52

By god, a blizzard...Change in priorites. Safety is first, and quickly looked around for some shelter. There was no way he was going into the woods, although he did think he felt someone, or something, out there, there was no way to be sure. So Aruin quickly resorted to his magic bag of tricks, and got out four long sticks and a tarp of animal skins. He created a hasty overhang near a isolated tree, and beconed everyone over.

If this blizzard lasted more than a few minutes however, this overhang wouldn't be of much use.

Kellie was a little dumb-founded that she had caused a blizzard. She grabbed her staff out of her bag and called for the blizzard to stop. so it did.

The new figure stared at the display, hoping he wasn't interrupting anything.
His human form reached the trainers' height, a finely-woven white shirt contrasting his dark hair and loose, jet black trousers- a sign of past consortment in darker causes. An easing atmosphere surrounded him, shedding a harmonious calm among all who came near without a black heart. Though it wasn't visible, a cornucopia of white-magic energy surrounded him, its soothing circulation felt as far as he could be seen. He drew a long Elven knife in each hand from under his belt. A humble smile lined his features.

"I could use some training before I enter the forums," he nodded at the wooden doors. His deep pupils met an exprienced face before him. This fellow's mind reflected a gathering of words, perhaps not yet acknowledged by his conscious thoughts.

"I've seen you a few times before, though never in person." The wandering mage scanned his familiar form. "There's something you want to tell me?"

"Accept my apologies," he offered. "That's probably my past speaking- I was once quite the necromancer before I saw the weakness and eventual death my alignment promised. Though it hasn't surfaced for some time. Unusual." He shrugged and continued.
"I was just looking for training. Maybe you could advise me on anything I have to know before I enter the forums- any flaws in my writing style, for example. Here." He approached Gecko unopposed, placing a hand on the wound. The circulating energy rigidly seeped through, Gecko's bloodied plate closing around itself. The refreshing essence rippled and continued in its regular circulation. The mage known only as 'Pillage' took his hand away from Gecko's healed chest.

"I'll have to look into this attack. I haven't been possessed for years." He waited for a response.

A dimensionial rift took form a great distance away from the sight of the talking group. From it burst a person of suffering soul, striving for redemption. The man watched the rift dissappear before he began to decipher his estate. He then percieved a crowd of speech filled beings with the enhancement of his eyes. With his skill of controling the shadows he engulfed himself in a great ball of darkness and through it teleported a tad neared the group. he hid behind an object observing the group.

He then grew in a state of great wonder, how was he to explain his current state. he saw a medieval setting, quite the opposite to his state. he had upon his carrying a pair of handguns, and he was clothed with a long black overcaot with no shirt underneath. revealing the small cross embedded upon his chest. black burnt flesh surrounding it. he had two sabers sheathed upon the lower part of his back, but how was he to explain the rest. including his pale complexion and his fangs.

if he was to start his hunt he would have to blend in. he searched around for a suitable subject and found it. he saw a wanderer a good deal farther and speed towards him. with his vampiric martial arts he was swift in bearing the man unconcious. he stole the clothes and quested for a place to hide his other possessions, until he needed them. when he found one and was done he straightened his face and approached the group.

the group was taken aback by his approach and some were upset. he looked one he perceived to be the most powerful in the eye(Anyone with authority as a teacher or whatever) and said, "I require knowledge of this place some of you may call home." A grave and cold voice matched to a cold but redemption seeking heart.

At first Nathan was silent and continued to smoke the deathstick he had ignited by touching it with his finger. Beforehand he bit it to draw forth blood and ignite the blood. He breathed deeply before he answered the man's question, "None of certain importance troubles me. Yet it would be helpful if you could assist around these parts. Are you a local perhaps although your clothing is much in contrast to the medieval garbing i have so by far only seen." He ended his speech and thought for a moment. If these people were okay with a guy dressed like this then his original garbing which he had hid would be acceptable to be worn. He then smiled and said, "This is the reason why the Cig was ignited." He flashed his eyes and the blood burst into flame, "I am a black blood vampire master of Kleithire magic, or Blood Arcana," he proclaimed. "It means that the cig does not ignite with contact with blood, I just called forth my arcane might upon this vessel to conduct my spell," he mused.

He motioned his hand to a close and presented it again to his converser, ashes fell but no wound could be seen. He smiled as streaks of shadows came and began to dance upon the open palm. Zas
03/28/2005 8:45 PM

OOC: Uhhh…. How do you make italics, is it the same coding as html? Maybe I should’ve read something? Sorry if this is awfully long, but here it goes…

A large portal opened somewhere far to the east of the Keep, and the time traveler, Zas, stepped out of it, but, being several feet in the air, he fell... Right on his face. As he climbed to his knees he looked around, and the portal closed. As he stepped up onto his feet, he brushed his striped vest off, and looked around for his top hat, which had fallen off of his pale head, exposing his poor excuse for a combover. He found it, and as he knelt down to pick it up, he noticed a tear in his trousers. [Damn!] He thought to himself, as he picked up his top hat and placed it back on his head. He then looked around again and remembered, [These clothes won't do in this time period!] He pushed a button on his ring, his time travel device, and it started to glow. Soon, his whole body glowed a bright white for a few seconds, and he screamed, as the pain of the transformation was coursing throughout his body. He completely changed, all facets of his being completely different from what he was before, not only to fit the time period, but also to fit the time period he thought this was. He still knew who he was, however, and why he was who and where he was. He checked his hand, now gloved, to see if the ring was still on it. He let out a sigh of relief feeling the phoenix engraved on the top of it.

He began to run across the field from where he landed, his dark, loose fitting pants allowing him to run quickly and silently. As he saw the Keep in the distance, he checked his many pockets for shurikens (throwing stars) and slowed to a walk. Finding none, he continued walking towards the Keep, slightly dismayed at the lack of weaponry. He silently approached it, trying not to be noticed. His tabi boots (split-toed shoes) made no sound as he treaded carefully across the field towards the gate. As he entered, his face dripping with sweat, he made not a sound, and clung to the wall, blending in with the shadows cast by the sun. As he looked around with his pitch black eyes, he saw a much smaller amount of people fighting than he thought should be, as that’s what Zas thought training to be, and breaking away from the wall, he said:

“Is this the training center?”

He rubbed the back of his bald, ashen skinned head and awaited a reply.

Hey what is with this creator thing? And this H-T-M-L?

The OOC said to Zas in his thoughts, Grrrr.... I'm your creator of course, and HTML is the language in which you were created, you're part of the internet!

Confused, Zas replied, What's the internet?

The OOC, obviously angered at his character's ignorance, shouted back at him, You Imbecile! You're part of a vast array of networked computers whose purpose it is to unite the world in a vast library of knowledge!!!

Still confused at what this "computer" was, Zas decided to drop the subject, and let out a sigh as he brought his head back to earth. He shrugged; then he looked around at the people nearby and asked, "Hey, would anybody like to spar with me?"

A tall figure walked leisurely across the green fields. It was as if his destination was still uncertain to him. He needed training, that was for sure. Nevertheless he felt unsure for his skills and qualities. He didn't know if finding these distant training grounds was the right thing to do...but then again there were no such things as training grounds from where he came!

As the man passed by a small pont, he watched his reflexion walking alongside him. He noticed how his clothes were dirty and his face excausted by the long voyage. His long black hair were hanging loose onto his ,not so wide, shoulders. He hadn't had the chance to enjoy a proper hot bath for a long time. In fact since the day he left his hometown...

As his memory drifted away to that day, he felt tears coming up to his green eyes. What a really awful day! His relation with his father was never the best, but it was that day when he decided that his father, for him, was no more. It was when he heared those awful words coming out of his mouth: "You are a freak! I understand that you are my son and I bear the responsibility of raising you, but if you expect me to support you becoming a wizard", as he pronounced this word his eyes filled with disgust, from where he came, anything magic was evil and dangerous," you are truly mistaken! You are going to work in our farm and contribute to this family that was kind enough to keep you in the first place! If it was up to me, we would have left you in the forest the minute your...talent", the irony in his words was prominent," appeared!".

The sun was not to its highest spot on the sky. The heat was comforting after a night in the open, without any source of warmth whatsoever. If it was up to him...the man thought. Thankfully for him, it was not up to his father. At that time his mother was still alive. His mother was the only one who truly loved him for who he was. She appreciated his talent and supported his dreams. And then, that awful sickness came. She was not prepared for it! She died some months later. The whole family was devastated. Even his sister, with whom they had the best relations, was suddenly cold towards him. As if somehow he, the man, was related to the death of their mother. He could not understand her behavior. Nevertheless he was deeply hurt.

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted as he noticed a grand building rising up from the horizon. He estimated that in a few hours he would be there. He decided that this would be a good time to clean up a bit and think of what he would say. Apart from everything else, he was also very shy. And not without a good reason. At times he became really clumsy and when that happened his face became red and then more weird things happened around him. He believed that if only he could master his magic skills, then he would learn to master his own body! He kneeled and took some water in his palm. He tried to rub away the dirt off his black robe. Finally he managed it, although a big stain of water was now apparent just a little to the left from his chest. He prayed that the scortching sun would dry the water before he entered the training grounds. He then tried to tame his wild hairs. A little water would do the job he thought. He carefully leaned toward the pont. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, he lost his balance and within a few seconds he was lying flat with his face down, in the pont!

Now he has only minutes away from his aim. He tried to ignore the fact that he was dripping water. His try to use some magic to dry his clothes, leaved him with a small, but still noticable, hole in his robes. At least his hair was neatly lying on his shoulders. That was something, he thought, as he entered the training grounds.

He looked around anxiously. To his surprise he noticed that the yard was filled with smoke. From all the things he expected to see, that was not one of them. Slowly the air started to clear and figures became apparent. He hoped that one of them would have the authority to welcome him and help him. So he waited for someone to speak...he was too shy to speak first!

(OOC) Ok, first of all, hello to everyone in this really huge thread. I hadn't had the courage to read through all the posts so I hope I haven't missed something important. As the smoke cleared out, the tall man noticed that although there were a couple of men and women standing inside the training ground, noone said a thing. "That is curious indeed" he thought to himself. He started thinking that this was a bad idea afterall. Maybe he was no welcome there...perhaps he should leave this weird, silent place and search another place to train kis skills. As he started to turn his back to the crowd he stopped. A thought came into his mind. He didn't know were else he could go. The moment he set out for this journey, away from his family and friends, the only solid clue he had, it was the location of this training grounds.

Well one thing was certain. He could not go back to his hometown, he knew he wouldn't be welcome there anymore. With this discomforting thought he turned back to face the people standing there. He looked at them with eyes full of curiosity, guessing who would be the one that would speak up first. As he saw no sign that anyone was going to talk to him, he cleared his throught with a loud "Ahem!" and said:

" Hail trainers! My name is Soiram D'Asundo and I'm here seeking a proper training. I have a talent in the arcane arts and it is that talent that I would like to develop!"

His words flew with the afternoon wind to the ears of the people in front of him. He felt a lock of his black hair falling in front of his eyes. With his right hand he grabbed it and pulled it back with the rest of his hair, he patted them intensively and hopped that this time they would stay there. He smiled warmly and hoped that now someone would be kind enough to pay some attention to him...

In fact he didn't have a clue of how to describe his talent. He knew that many times in the past, weird things have happened around him, always when he was feeling really strong emotions.

The most memorable moment was when, while he was working in the farm, a band of thieves appeared from inside the woods and tried to steel some fruits. He yelled at them, thinking that they would leave. Instead the 3 men pulled out their knives and approached him. Unfortunately for him, he was the only intelligent being in a 10-miles radious (except ofcourse the thieves and that was not certain!). He couldn't expect help from anybody and obviously the thieves knew this too. As the first man was only a couple of metres away from him, he suddenly froze. He tried to move his legs but they didn't respond. In a few seconds only his eyes were moving, anxiously looking towards Soiram. The other two, immediately as they realised what had happened, made a step back from the farmer. They felt that perhaps their victim was not so helpless after all.

He remembered how he was surprised to see the thief freeze were he was standing. Soiram had, at that time, no idea he had that kind of power. The second thief, feeling apparently that he had to somehow help his companion, attacked the only logical source of their problem. He threw his knife towards Soiram. It was a rather long knife and it's edge shined under the morning sun. It was at that time that Soiram thought that he would die. But strangily enough as the knife approached him, inch by inch, it's velocity decreased. It was as somehow the time was running slower around him. And then he felt it. A sudden burst of energy, a burning just below his chest and then a soft tickling on his fingers. Without knowing what he was doing, Soiram raised his arms and a purple energy shield appeared just infront of his chest. Time resumed its course and the knife collided with the shield. But all it made was a dull sound, like hitting a pillow. Then with a bright burst of purple flames the knife turned into ashes. The wind carried them away along with the three thieves, who were so terryfied that they didn't even take the time to think what had just happened.

As his day dreaming continued, Soiram realised that Eliar was still waiting for an answer. "Well I...a couple of times in the past I have made things happen...that they weren't supposed to happen...if you understand what I mean. For example it was that one time that I accidentaly conjured a bucket full of water over the head of a gentleman who was constantly demanding to give him a drink. And that other time when I was so angry that I put fire on chicken...that was kind of funny, ofcourse not according to my father who yelled at me and didn't let me eat supper..." the young man said with a hint of a smile on his face.

"But I have read of famous mages, with powers untold. Power that can undo mountains and rivers alike. I don't know if I have such powers but I know that I want to find out..." he ended his sentence without being sure that he had actually succeded to tell Eliar what he wanted to know...Well he is the trainner, he should see what kind of talent it is I have, thought Soiram to himself and with this he waited for what would come next.

"Hmm.... that's pretty interesting." Eliar pondered. "Maybe your powers are controlled by your emotions. So, instead of needing to waste your time saying the magic words, chanting, drawing runes and stuff, you can pretty much draw your powers according to how you feel. Aha! As for the famous mages you mention, well, when I was at the height of my powers, I could easily blow up planets and many other things. Unfortunately, the 'many other things' side of my powers have been taken away from me, and I'm only left with 'blowing up planets'. And well, because I can't blow up the planet I'm in, I'm pretty much kinda useless, a shadow of my former, majestic self."

Then, he resumed his attention at Soiram.

"But then, sometimes, it's not a matter of how powerful you are, or how strong your spells can be, it's all about how smart you are in using your spells. Yeap. Anyway... see what you can do with this!"

All of a sudden, a large wooden mallet materialized in Eliar's hand, and he swung hard at Soiram.

Soiram listened to what the trainer said to him with great interest. Infact his jaw dropped a little as he heard Eliar describe his former powers. From his looks he couldn't have imagined that he was dealing with such a grand man. And then he pondered if someday he would also come to grasp such powers. He was almost filling dizzy from the concept of being able to destroy planets.

But then Eliar said something else that made him wonder.

Unfortunately, the 'many other things' side of my powers have been taken away from me, and I'm only left with 'blowing up planets'

What did he mean by that, who had such power over him as to take away from him the "many other things" side his powers? Many questions were floating inside Soiram's head when he heard a loud crack and all of a sudden saw a wooden mallet coming down upon him. The only smart thing he could think to do was to duck, hoping that the mallet would miss him. "Ofcourse" he thought to himself “an obviously magical mallet couldn't be that easily avoided". As he made this thought, he decided to make a leap to the right. That way the distance between him and the mallet would increase. Perhaps then he could find a more suitable solution to this wooden problem!

Unfortunately for him, his robe had a somewhat different opinion! As his first foot left the ground, the other got entangled in the fabric. He realized what was going to happen and covered his face with his hands. Only seconds later he was lying, face down, on the ground, only some inches away from Eliar's feet. "Nice shoes!" he thought and then laughed at his clumsiness.

"Ouch." Eliar winced at the sight of Soiram falling facedown, and hurried over to help him up. "Well, thought you would unleash your magic or something when I was swinging my mallet at you. Sorry about that. But then, I think you have to be careful with your magic, especially if you're a traveller of worlds like I am. Different world. Different magic systems. The reason why I lost that much power was because I used up too much of them when I was in an alien planet, and unlike my homeland, I couldn't do anything to replenish em. Tis' a tragedy, really."

Suddenly, the spiky-haired mage's stomach started growling.

"Man, I'm getting hungry, do you want to eat anything? We can go to the cafetaria for some food if you want to." Eliar said.

"Don't worry for the falling...it happens to me a lot! Not very enjoyable but I can't seem to be able to use all my limbs at the same time without provoking some kind of disaster to me or someone near me! I hope that when the danger will be real, I won't mess it up!"
Soiram flashed a little and bent his head. Some of his hair dropped in front of his eyes. He cursed inside his breath and tried to listen to what Eliar was saying to him.

He had no idea that one could travel so easily between other worlds. In fact he wasn't sure he knew that other worlds existed in the first place, let alone travel to them! His thoughts were disrupted by a powerful growl that apparently came from Eliar's stomach. That made him count the days that he hadn't eaten a proper meal. At the thought of a nice, well done steak and some potatoes his mouth watered. So he responder to Eliar's question eagerly!

"There is a cafeteria nearby? That is really interesting. I would be more than glad to put something in my empty stomach.". As he said this words he ran his hand over his belly (fortunately all this days of traveling had helped him find his silhouette once again. As his hand approached the place where the inner pocket of his robes was, he realized it was empty. Immediately he forced his hand inside the pocket and searched thoroughly. Nothing was there to be found. He was keeping in this pocket all his savings. A little pouch of gold that would help him get started. But now nothing. He felt helpless. HE stood there with an expression of utter disappointment on his face. He came to realize he didn't have any money, even for a small meal...nothing! Yet another problem, maybe it was after all a bad idea, setting off for this journey of...self-discovery.

"No!" a little voice spoke inside his head. "But everything is going wrong from the first moment of this journey. The way I left my home, the hardships of the journey, I can't seem to be able to control my powers at will and now this, no money. Maybe this is not meant to be." another voice replied. "NO!" now the first voice spoke louder and clearer, "Get yourself together man, you CAN do it and you WILL do it!". With this said he felt the familiar burning in his body and an itching on his fingers. His hands moved as they had a mind of their own. Out of nowhere a small table appeared, after a while came a plate with a large chunk of grilled meat, then a bowl of salad, some bread, a plate of different cheeses and last, "but not least" thought to himself later, a bottle of red wine!

Soiram stood there with his jaw practically on the ground! He had conjured all this things. And he hadn't had a single clue about how! "Well it seems Eliar that we won't have to go to the cafeteria in the first place" said Soiram with a big grin on his face. Immediately he sat on the ground, grabbed some bread and cheese and started eating. He nodded to Eliar to grab anything he wanted; there was enough for both to satisfy their hunger.

"Well I haven't thought it this way..." said Soiram with an unenthusiastic tone in his voice. He was still marveling his latest accomplishment. He couldn't believe he could do such things...and yet he was doomed to do them spontaneously, without any control over them..."Or not?" he thought to himself. Then he turned to Eliar with a renewed interest in his eyes.

"Well I thought you would like to know that this burst of magic was the result of a strong emotion that had risen inside me due to my discovery that I have no gold whatsoever! As I was searching for my pouch and I realized that I have lost it, I felt a burning and an itching on the fingers. The same feeling appears almost every time just before I cast some spell and always after an emotional crisis. For example this time I felt an outmost despair and began telling myself that I was wrong to pursue the career of a wizard. At that time a heard a voice inside my head, telling me that this way of thinking is wrong and then," he paused and pointed to the table with the food on it” all this happened!”

He looked Eliar, his look was one of hope mixed with anticipation but also with a little despair. "Please Eliar, you have to tell me that there is a way I can control this magic. Without control I will be dead very soon. Maybe there is someone in this academy that may have heard of something similar to my case?” Soiram stopped for a moment and then carefully continued "And maybe you could tell me if there is some way to earn some gold around here? I don't know if I lost it or it was stolen from me, what matter is that I have no gold and that can't be a good thing!"

(OOC) Ok I have a question about this forum, why is it that although I post messages, my post count is still at zero? Not that it matters very much but just out of curiosity (OOC)

"Well, Soiram, the only way to control this power of yours might be to control your own emotions. Yeah, maybe that's your main practice has to be. It's all about your emotional intelligence, yup. In the past, some of my magic are channeled by my own feelings too, and it was terrible. Whenever I lost my temper, I did things so horrible that I feel, er, uncomfortable thinking about it now. Therefore, since then, all I did was told myself never ever to lose my temper again, or I'll end up doing EVIL things. Yep. Maybe this is a way for you to rein in your darker emotions? For other stuff, I guess we'll have to figure out a way." Eliar said.

"Hm... well, maybe working here might give you a bit of training, and income. What about aiding me as an assistant trainer or something? Helping people can always be fun. :D" Eliar smiled.

OOC:

" Well I was hoping something like reading a book or excercising for an hout or two...But controlling my emotions. How can one do something like this. Even more how can one do this in the middle of a battle what time and coordination is of the essence? I hope that with time, maybe, I will learn to guide my powers and use them to my aid!" said Soiram and let his mind drift away, imagining the day when he will finally be able to use his powers properly, as a trained wizard would do.

As Eiar described to him his former experiences, Soiram was impressed that his problem was not a unique one but it was something that also Eliar had faced. It was more than obvious that this man could be a great help to Soiram and his training.

Soiram was startled when heheard the offer to become Eliar's assistant. He couldn't imagine, how a trainnee could become and assistant to a trainer. Nevertheless he felt that this was the best way to combine his training with some disent income, without having to go to a treasure hunt. He looked Eliar "I'm honored by your offer and I happily accept it! I hope I will prove myself worthy of your trust. And I totaly agree withyou that helping people can always be fun, as long as the people themselves are fun!" said the man with an ironic grin on his face.

"So what do we do now? I don't see any other people around. Is this a free day or is the thraining grounds out of trainees?" said Soiram as he scanned the grounds around him with his eyes.

As Soiram thought the words of his teacher, his eyes caught a movement somewhere near the entrance of the grounds. He lifted his face and with great surprise he saw a slender figure, covered with a blue cloak. Momentarily the figure lowered the hood of the cloak and to his amazement he saw the face of a young girl. Her eyes glittered in the evening sun. They were green. In fact that was the most beautiful green he had ever seen. The green of the trees and the grass around him seemed dull, compared to this girl's eyes. His face became slightly red as weird thoughts invaded his youthful mind. As he realized that he felt his heart beating more loudly and faster than before. He tried to calm himself.

But then that all familiar burning came. He closed his eyes and tried to calm. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes. To his horror, in his left hand there was a bunch of the most beautiful wild flowers he had ever seen. "Oh no" he gasped. He had done magic again, without him wanting to. He tried to hide his hand behind his back. But more flowers started to pop from his left hand. He felt his left hand heavy behind his back, With a last, agonizing attempt he pushed himself to make the flowers disappear.

"Bang!" with a loud noise the area behind of Soiram filled with golden rain. With a second loud bang the flowers that he was trying to disappear from his left hand, exploded and the space behind him became a colorful painting, flowers, leaves, the golden rain, many colors mixed together. It was a rather surreal image. Soiram was now intensely wishing the ground to open and devour him. Who could imagine what the young girl would think of him. And more importantly, once again he had failed to put a leash on his wild powers. He lowered his eyes and waited for the certain mockery...

The delapidated wagon bounced and rattled over the old, rutted woodland track. The clip-clop of the horse's hooves on the packed earth set a sleepy rhythm and, in fact, the hunched greybread in the driver's seat seemed to be sleeping.

As the wagon emerged from the trees, entering a clearing, the wagoneer straightened in his seat to pull on the reins, stopping the horse. Looking back over his shoulder, he spoke to the passenger nestled into the lumpy pile of trade-goods, "Here ye be, girlie. Thar's the Trainin' Grounds. Good luck to ye."

The young woman hopped off the back of the wagon and stretched the kinks out of her back. While eyeing the imposing walls and huge gates before her, she straightened her soft, green, linen tunic and smoothed her brown, homespun skirt. Draping her grey, woollen cloak over one arm and slinging a leather travelbag over the other shoulder, she gave the wagoneer a cheerful wave and said, "Thank you for the ride. Safe journey!"

A gentle breeze playfully tugged at her waist length auburn hair and her soft, travel worn, leather boots made no sound as she walked to the gates and peeked in. Mirth sparkled in her hazel eyes and she stifled a giggle at the sight of a being, even shorter than her own 5 foot height, jumping up and down waving a piece of paper.

Still smiling, she took a few steps through the gates and stood quietly, awaiting her turn.

A girl dressed as a Shinto Priestess carrying a simple looking staff observed from the downwind side of the training area. The Great Google had sent her here, but she saw little evidence of any Cyberpunk. She adjusted her eye implants to take in the non visable light spectrum. Power was abundant in the people moving about, but no remarkable technology. Perhaps she could try to hack a Borg ship or make a droid spray Cheese Wiz in the face of the a Sith Lord or something.

She observed that several people present were standing stock still. One blonde, fur booted guy appeared to have been standing still for the past year, judging from the weathering on his clothes.

"Perhaps I can waken them," she decided. She held her staff in both hands to focus her mind as she gave instructions to the computer interlaced with her brain.

The girls eye twitched several times. 100 adolescent, hyper active, over caffinated, angst ridden, angry monkeys, totally out of her control, descended apon the training grounds.

'Ok,' she thought to herself, 'maybe if I run like I'm being chased by wild attack monkeys, they won't notice that I was even here. Wait, I am being chased by wild attack monkeys!'

The gnome had stopped jumping up and down some time ago. As he and the young woman stood waiting, time passed and shadows moved across the courtyard of the Training Grounds. People were there, they just seemed to be ignoring the two waiting for training.

Bored and tired of just standing around, the young woman stepped closer to the gnome and said, "Hi, I'm Val. Do you suppose this waiting is some kind of test?"

Val noticed a girl with a staff, standing a ways away. She was about to ask the gnome if he thought their wait might be over when the girl assumed what looked like a defensive stance, then yelled, "CURSE OF A HUNDRED MOMKEYS!"

A bunch of monkeys appeared out of nowhere and began running wild in the arena, many chasing the girl who brought them there. The gnome and young woman at the gate darted back outside then turned to watch the circus within.

The eyes closed and were gone from view. Beneath where they had appeared, a small ellipse rippled in the earth. The space calmed as a dark figure began to rise and take shape from its mirrored depth. Ebony flesh gave way to the form of a female mortal. Clothed in white tunic and earthy brown skirt, she sat indian style upon the ground.

Fingers as long and nimble as could be imagined threaded a silver medallion idly between them.
