OOC: My thanks. I had originally written my first post in past tense but then I changed it for some reason.

IC: Shanah's compliments actually made Lycan feel a little embarassed, but he wasn't about to let it show. He gave gave his thanks and said good-bye" Your kind words honor me. I suppose it is time I go, considering I have a long journey Fernwood Village." Lycan took Shanah's hand and kissed it. "Good day, m'lady. Maybe we'll meet again, some day,eh?" With that Lycan was running for that gate, changing as he went. By the time he reached the gate he was already in full wolf form, which seemed to startle the nearby students a bit. But Lycan did not even notice. For, other things were on his mind at the moment. Like the beautiful Shanah.

Lycan was running hard down the beaten path leading from the Training Grounds, when he stopped and let out a long, heartfelt howl. And then, beaming with pride(Lycan is a somewhat emotional man) he was off again. Running like the wind for Fernwood Village.

Aria sighed and looked at Shanah once more. The vampiress shook her head, and started to walk away.

"You handled that very well, by the way," she said over her shoulder. "I think you have an admirer."

Lucky you, Aria thought, a little bitterly. Mortals were lucky...they were able to find love. People like Aria though, didn't, and sometimes couldn't. How could you unless it was to someone like you?

She sat down at the table, and watched the others. Straea was still hanging around Eliar, Mae was near Jack, and Aeramae was standing off from the rest of them, watching and waiting for something to happen.

Aria sighed again. Such was life...such was her life. Oh well, she'd been living this way for years upon years. She supposed she was used to it by now.

((Alright, I think this is the point to find out what needs to be known. Please rain wisdom down upon my fool head, ladies, namely, the rules and regulations and such that, if posted elsewhere, I have yet to find--though probably through my own ignorance. Nitpick everything I have written here, tell me what's good and what needs changing, since I think I like this place and I wouldn't want to get in trouble here over a technicality. Anything important you think I need to know, tell me, I beg of you.))

He couldn't believe his rather pointy, furry ears. These people were...nice. Helpful. Not like, well, most of the people he'd met between here and where Home used to be, who had been most assuredly not helpful, and a few downright mean. But he felt no malice from them--and the feeling of such was one of his "Talents", as his Guardian had called them. To be able to discern the intent and the occasional feeling of people by body language and tone and some other sense he had no name for--Tacelon had, but he, Viridian, had never understood nor been able to pronounce the word.
And now she, the lovely one who had spoken to him without contempt or fear, and in the Speech, no less, would show him the way to others. Other centaurs. Tacelon had always insisted there were more, but Viridian had, along the way, begun to lose hope.
"Great Lady," he told her, his voice thickening. "You honor me more than I could have hoped with your kindness. Lead, and I will follow."

"Cool." Eliar remarked, then turning to Shanah, he winked. "Anyway, keep the whoring of RP threads to a minimum here, even I myself ain't gonna mention anything about FF3 either. It's better and more adventurous for a new player to pick his or her own thread. Let them feel around, it's more rewarding to become part of something special, and know that it was all because of the choice you made long ago."

Jack laughed at Shanah's last comment.

"Hah! Yeah, and whiskey's nice to keep handy also, that way the fun stays longer. Now, who was I talking to?"

Caelin
11/14/2004 4:10 PM

An elf approached those present, standing tall and came this close without making a sound, until he cleared his throat and broke into the conversation. "Quel re. It stated on the sign that this was some sort of training grounds. I have looked through it and found it lacking. People making posts that are shorter then the signatures beneath what they have written. Train them to use their writing skills. instead of permitting them to get by with two lines. If you wish to train them for what is out there, then by all means do so in a correct manner. Two-liners will not get them far in the many roleplaying forums on this world of ours."

The expression on the elf's face had not even changed during this little speech, the tone of his voice belecturing, as most elves regarded those not of their race as mere children. His eyes roamed from person to person, trying to decide which of them would be speaking up first. He found himself the center of their attention, as their eyes strayed over his figure.

Caelin was a muscular man, despite his elven heritage. He stands at 5'11" and has long black hair, which was tied back with a leather strap. His green eyes seemed to catch everything around him, a trait common among elves. His features were refined, as most elves have, and would be considered an attractive man according to human standards. His attire consists of leather clothing (boots, breeches and tunic), combined with a green linen shirt and a chainmail. Hanging from his belt are two short swords and a large knife is tucked into a sheath. On his back, beside the backpack, were a longbow and quiver, the former inside a wax cover.

This elf now seemed to be calmly awaiting a response to what he had just said to them, almost untouchable and distant in his attitude, only his eyes revealing what he thought of them. Yet the only thing shining in those eyes, were a clear intelligence and an obvious disregard of humans. "Now if these people were to be playing orcs, I could quite comprehend the nature of their short replies, after all, the brain of an orc is limited, as is his vocabulary and its capability to understand the finesse of what is called creative writing."

Kalia turned her golden eyes towards the elf that had just joined the growing, if silent group. The disdain was quite evident immediately in their golden depths, and she leaned lightly against Airiana's shoulder, smiling wanly.

Kalia brushed away a lock of silver hair as an errant wind sent her hair flowing over her shoulder. Her cloak rose with the wind like wings, settling around her lithe frame as the wind stilled.

She cast Airiana a look that the other dragoness couldn't possibly misinterpret. She nodded towards the elf, and then shook her head. “True enough, however it would be nice if they mostly stuck around more than their two-liner posts. Now, if you would like to try your hand at this, please, by all means go on ahead. After all, even I can only be in one place at any given moment...”

Kalia turned away from the elf to resume her conversation with the centuar. She smiled and reached out a hand to lead him away from the group. "Where I am from (the Dragonlance settings) The Centaurs are an integral part of the Darken Wood, in the service of the Forestmaster, whom I am told is a etherial beauty of a unicorn. Anyway, I would be happy to help you with an adventure if you'd like. The basic rules of any adventure apply... ( The stories are post by post, with as much detail as you can manage.... No Controlling of anothers characters, including harming another's characters to incapacity... unless allowed before hand by said character creator.)"

She paused and smiled, realizing the shock in his eyes. "Do not worry, I am more than I seem my friend. We are of a kind you see, you are a Centaur, a being that few would hope to see. And I am one of only a handful on my world..." She walked away, indicating that Viridian should stay where he was.

wtih a softly spoken word, a wind stirred her silken skirts, tore at her hair and at her cloak. The silk of her gown and cloak began to flow, and a blinding light surrounded Kalia like a second skin. The silken garments rippled and reformed, becoming white feathered wings, sparkling with an opalescenant gleam.

The dragon that emerged was one that was once the only one of her kind, she had managed to find a mate that was her equal in all but color, and had mothered eight wyrmlings to maturity. The Crystal dragon Glimmer shook the last few sparks of magic from her mane and wings, stretching their feathery tips to the sun. She lowered her massive head to stare level into the eyes of the Centuar.

"I am Crystalamira, known to most mortals as Glimmer. Turn to me if you should ever need help, and I promise I will be there."

Shanah glared at the newcomer, her blonde hair flashing in the light. One of her hands, unseen, curled into a fist. Calm down! she reprimanded herself.

I have looked through it and found it lacking. People making posts that are shorter then the signatures beneath what they have written. "So, you see fit to insult people who have likely been RPing as long or longer then you? While I likely do not fit into that category, many of your "two liners" often post short posts, simply due to a lack of anything to say, but wanting to keep this thread active. If you can't appreciate a post for anything except it's length, then perhaps you need a little training yourself."

He found himself the center of their attention, as their eyes strayed over his figure.

Shanah eyed him.
"You seem to have forgotten one of the basic rules of RPG-that you never, ever use another character, even in their reactions to your own, without their permission."

"Now if these people were to be playing orcs, I could quite comprehend the nature of their short replies, after all, the brain of an orc is limited, as is his vocabulary and its capability to understand the finesse of what is called creative writing."

The girl resisted the urge to shake the elf until his teeth rattled.

"Clearly you have no appreciation for varying characters. I have played orcs a few times myself, not liking to chain myself to one kind of character until all the people around grow weary, unlike many, and had quite a good time."
"You should broaden your scope and thinking a little. And you should understand the creative part of creative writing-that it does not need to conform to what you consider proper standards."

She regarded him impassively, blue eyes narrowed in distaste at his condescending tone.

Airiana
11/14/2004 9:44 PM

The hybrid dragoness stepped towards the elf lightly, her guise of a Silvanesti woman smiling softly—though in amusement or kindness, it was hard to tell. The robes that adorned her lithe form were reminiscent of the magi’s, but with a few differences. Whereas a mage's robes would hold one color, hers held two; the velvety material seemed to shift from a deep ruby to silver, and everywhere in between. Silver eyes looked over the elf built so like a man, and a tanned hand stretched out towards him.

“Welcome, traveler.” She said in greeting, crimson lips parting just enough to show straight, white teeth. “`Tis not often that we are met by one who hast such a knowledge of roleplaying upon his arrival. Most often we are found by passersby whose interest in these forums wanes as quickly as the breeze canst carry an autumn leaf. Consequently, they oftentimes do not stay long enough for proper instruction. But as mine friend hast told thee… thou art more than welcome to bestow thy talents upon whosoever next appears at our gate,” she said, giving him a mock-bow.

“And as well… before criticizing others, thou shouldst look to thine own writing. A discerning eye couldst spy that thou hast used two different tenses in one paragraph, committed many a run-on and fragmented sentence, and left off in thy punctuations as well. And any roleplayer of half a season knows better than to control another’s character, no matter how slight the offense.” Her tone was droll, though the expression on her elven features seemed neutral save for a twinkle of amusement in her metallic eyes.

"Now if these people were to be playing orcs, I could quite comprehend the nature of their short replies, after all, the brain of an orc is limited, as is his vocabulary and its capability to understand the finesse of what is called creative writing."

“Ah, but as thou hast said, the brains of orcs are limited. For a being such as an elf, there would be little excuse for incompetence; quality, not quantity, I believe the saying goes. For a member of a race that normally puts so much value on uniqueness, thee seemeth to think more is better. I dare say that is a rather… human… concept…”

Aria ignored the elf, and walked over to Shanah, placing a calm, restraining hand on the younger woman's shoulder. It wasn't very long ago (only a few short centuries!) that Aria herself was human. She hadn't forgotten what it was like to be almost completely ruled by one's emotions.

Take care, child, she thought kindly, sending her thoughts to Shanah. He seems young himself, and in need of much help. Remember how it was when you first entered the world.

Aria finally looked at the elf, and smiled broadly, showing off her fangs. She held out a hand in greeting, keeping her gaze on him.

"Welcome, young one," she said. "I'm sure you'll find that many of the veterans here often use two liners to keep the thread flowing. It's not lack of imagination that spurs this, rather, the hope to keep things alive around here."

The elf grinned at the Silvanesti woman, then took a short bow and introduced himself. "The name is Caelin, mylady, though this language you all speak here is anything but my native tongue. If thou were to speak in my native tongue, would thou be as adept in it? If it would please thee, I could speak in either german, french or danish for you, aside from my native jibberish named dutch." With a small wink he straightened himself again, but a slight smile remained curled around his lips.

"and aren't elves haughty, according to most people, despite their own shortcomings? I do not aim to be unique, mylady, there are enough people already, who are fruitlessly trying to be so. I would much rather be just another elf, who when it comes to it, can do some unexpected things. I am not a man of high talent, but more of one with many talents, though not as sophisticated as a single skill would be." Still wearing the same smile upon his face, he reached into his tunic, bringing forth a shining jewelled dagger in it's sheath. "You won today's prize." he stated dryly and handed the item to her.

Mae struggled to keep from rushing at the snobby new person. Apparently he had a lot to learn about manners. Aeramae, on the other hand, exploded, almost literally.

"How dare you claim that there are those who are "fruitlessly" trying to be unique?!" Aeramae shouted at the elf. She walked towards him, fury blazing brightly in her eyes. "It seems to me that you know nothing about anyone! Let alone yourself!"

"Aeramae, stop it," Aria said calmly. "He is young, and as of yet, untried. He must feel that to be unique is a sin, or else he wouldn't make comments like that."

Would you, young one? Aria sent to the elf.

Aeramae shook herself, and, glaring at the elf, flew off to the top of a nearby wall. She needed to collect herself, and her thoughts. She had come dangerously close to incinerating that elf. Something she wasn't proud of, despite her heritage.

Mae laughed, despite the hostility that was being shown. She couldn't help it. She found the entire situation rather funny. She smiled at Jack, and smacked him on his back.

"Come on, let's go sit down and drink some more," she suggested.

"Yes, go drink," Straea said brightly. "And don't worry, Eliar, everything is fine. I'm sure he didn't mean anything by what he said about the two line thing."

If possible, Jack's grin widened. He had been watching the conversation, quietly, and, of course, was as amused as ever.

"I get the feeling that I was the original topic here. But, there is nothing better to relieve self consciousness than alcohol. Am I right?" He sat dutifully with Mae.

Would you, young one? Aria sent to the elf.

Caelin cringed slightly, as the thought entered in his head, then stared at Aria and shook his head, as if trying to shake it out. "Lady, conversing without actually being able to speak out what I aim to say, is something I have never learned. The only skill I possess is to make myself scarce if I choose not to be seen, but any of my kin can do so. I'd be happy if you'd teach me that trick however, for it seems handy to be able to talk with someone else in the middle of a crowd, without anyone able to overhear the words."

With a straight face this time, he responded to her question openly. "Being unique can make someone a target, hunted by those eager to have a trophy on their wall that no other has. I'd gladly pass up on that. More then one of my kin ended this way, hunted downand stripped of their hide, while these hunters did not even know what they in fact had hunted."

Shanah was still fighting down the urge not to throttle the elf, and jumped slightly when the vampire touched her shoulder.

Take care, child, she thought kindly, sending her thoughts to Shanah. He seems young himself, and in need of much help. Remember how it was when you first entered the world.

He's in need of an ego check, that's what. I'll try not to throttle him.

I do not aim to be unique, mylady, there are enough people already, who are fruitlessly trying to be so.

The girl glared at him.
"If you were truly as knowledgeable as you are pretending to be, you would realize there is no such thing as "fruitlessly unique". Every being is unique, even you, whether you acknowledge it or not."

"Just trying to outdo what he said with a two word thing." Eliar replied.

Glimmer had listened well to the newcomers' debate. She had folded her wings and had curled up in the corner of the courtyard that she and the centaur currently occupied. Her head tilted slightly to catch every word.

After a long moment, she nodded her head.

"Take it easy guys... I am sure that while he does seem a bit crass... he does have some interesting points. Most of us do have quite some unique characters. But while they are unique... a good portion of thier time is spent in such a usual fashion, that they blend in well." She glanced at Jack.

"Take a friend of mine, she's much like you Jack... but she looks and mostly acts quite normal. Most wouldn't know her true nature till she actually had to make use of it. Same with a Theif I once met that called herself the Phoenix. Pretty girl, but nothing overly-unusual about her at first...."

Caelin pointed at Glimmer and nodded approvingly. His smile returned to his face and he took a closer look at her. "Finally, someone who understands what I mean. You can be as unique as you'd like, but in the end, you have to make sure you blend in with the masses, otherwise you'll get hunted for what you are. Like I said at first, a lot of my kin have encountered this problem. We are not known to socialise like humans do, nor are we as commonly seen as our elven brethren, or even our dark elven relatives. In fact, there are few that can say they have seen any of my kin, since we are known to be an elusive race."

The elf tried to elaborate, which seemed to be difficult for him. Everytime he came to a point of telling about his kin, he paused and made sure not to say too much. "Just like a dragon would not come to a town in it's usual form, but chooses a human or other form that the inhabitants are more familiar with. In it's natural form, the inhabitants would immediately attack it, if only because they fear it. This is the nature of humans, if you look at it in a general perspective."

Kalia_Majere
11/18/2004 3:12 PM

Glimmer nodded. "Quite true... I am from solace, and they know me most by my human form, Kalia, adopted by the Majere family. But they know my true form as well. But I would never approach a town or city that did not know me in this form." She glanced at the elf, puzzling over his words then shook her head a little, knowing that he would reveal himself in time.

"Very good lesson my friend..." She intoned after a moment.

AmberK
11/18/2004 9:02 PM

Amber Kynterle wandered into the courtyard of the keep, looking for all the world like a simple passerby that had decided to investigate the scenery. She was young, only 19. Her pale green eyes were accented by her shoulder-length mane of cinnamon red hair and her fair skin. Arms causally crossed under her chest, she seemed almost to be wandering aimlessly as she stared at the walls and towers of stone rising about her.

If she had traveled any great distance, she was sadly under-prepared. She had only a long knife sheathed on her left hip, and a water flask dangling at her right. A haversack that looked mostly empty rode low on her back. Her clothes, though apparently of good tailoring, would not have been suitable for any substantial journey. Her shirt left her arms bare, and dipped low enough about the neck that a chill breeze would have been decidedly uncomfortable. Her pants rode low on her hips and showed signs of substantial wear. She wore leather boots that had slightly raised heels, which added about an inch to her otherwise average height.

She stopped in front of the group of people that were gathered in the courtyard, and looked at them for a moment as if wondering whether or not she should be surprise at their presence. She reached up with one hand to brush away a stray lock of hair that had dipped in front of her eyes. "Hello," she said cheerfully at last. "They told me to come here to learn some useful stuff. Like how to fend for myself and whatnot. Personally, I think they just wanted me out of their hair, but when they say go, I know well enough to go. So here I am." She shrugged and looked about again. "Cool place."

((Dear madam dragon, I thank you for your advice, and can only hope I can live up to it. Alas, however, while I yearn to find a place here to start a story, I am...well, grounded. Indefinitely. I did a very bad thing, and I am in ALOT of trouble. Which is why it has taken me so long to reply as it is. I pray I make no offense to you both, who have offered to help me. I'm sneaking on just to get this much up as it is, so, again, apologies--it shouldn't be more than a couple more weeks (fingers crossed) if I can keep working the charm on my mom, aka buying her anything and everything I can come across, lol. ))

11/19/2004 3:24 PM

Caelin grinned at the young girl, then nodded to her, to acknowledge her arrival, before he reacted on what she had to say, allowing her to finish her words without interruption. After she had finished speaking, the elf approached her and took a couple of paces around her, looking her over as he did so. During this, the elf spoke up. "Welcome. Well, first of all, if you decide to go adventuring, prepare yourself for all possible weather conditions, that means to at least wear clothing that will not be too tight, nor too chilly. How well can you use that knife of yours?"

He halted in front of Amber and looked her into her eyes, his yellowish green eyes locking onto the green of hers. Calmly he stood, with his arms crossed in front of him, not making any attempt to touch her, nor seem threatening. "While your boots may seem good enough for riding, walking on them all day may become painful. Do tell me however who 'they' are and what you expect to learn here?"

11/19/2004 3:46 PM

OOC: Ouch, grounded. That's a pain. Don't get caught next time!;)

Shanah yet again had the irresistible urge to rip off the elf's head.
Fighting it down, she smiled at the newcomer.
"Welcome to the Training Grounds, and the RPGC. It's always nice to have new faces around. Your first post was very good, and you seem to have the basics of RPing down pretty well."
"Oh, and don't mind the elf. He thinks he knows everything. As annoying as that is, killing the members is not recommended, so, unfortunately, you'll have to put up with it."

Aeramae
11/19/2004 8:32 PM

"Damn, guess biting them is out of the question too," Aria said with a grin. "Oh well, I guess the elfs request that I teach him my little mind reading trick is null and void now."

"Aye, that it is," Mae replied with a chuckle. "What do you think, Jack?"

AmberK
11/19/2004 9:07 PM

Amber finally managed to tear her eyes away from the surrounding architecture as the Elf spoke to her. She watched, apparently unconcerned, as he circled around her, examining her. All the while, she listened intently to what he was saying, as if nothing else mattered more in the world at the moment. "Why, my family, of course," she said in response to his last question, in a tone of voice that made it seem like everyone in the region should know that. "My parents got tired of me making trouble around the house, so they pretty much gave me the boot, if you catch my meaning. I don't know what they wanted me to learn; so far, all I've done is walk, and you're right, these boots are starting to get annoying. But I like the extra height, because I don't like feeling short, and I feel short without them. Feeling short is extremely annoying. I don't suppose you would have to worry about that, though would you?"

She paused for a moment, as if trying to remember something. "Oh, right," she said at last. "What I expect to learn here. Well, I guess I'm mostly looking for trouble - I mean, someplace where I can do something useful," she added hastily; the last part sounded almost like she was reciting it. She squinted in concentration, obviously trying to remember something. "Oh, and how best to do it, and.... I forgot the rest," she admitted.

She shifted a little, as if embarrassed at that. "As for my knife," she went on, "I'm okay with it I guess. I haven't killed anybody with it, if that's what you mean. But I know how not to chop my hand off or cut my own throat, and my brothers know not to play around with my temper." She grinned at that, apparently seeing some joke the others might not. "And my clothes, well," she looked down at herself, "these are all I brought with me. See, I... kinda left the house in a hurry. Mother wasn't very pleased at seeing me still in the house a day after she told me to get out."

She glanced over at Shanah as if noticing her for the first time. "Thanks for the welcome. I hope I don't cause too much trouble for you. Don't worry, I don't feel like killing anybody yet. I'll let you know when I do." She winced. "I mean, *if* I do."

Caelin
11/20/2004 4:26 PM

Caelin gently nodded to Amber and extended his hand. "Forgive me my manners, Caelin is the name." He paused for a short moment and raised a brow, before he smiled and began to act upon the idea that started to form in his mind. "Well now, if you want to learn to defend yourself, you'd have to find someone willing to teach you. I can learn you a few things, amongst which how to handle that blade, or one like mine." He stated pointing at the two short swords on his belt. "If you'd like, that is."

He glanced around and spoke in general terms. "Where can I find lodging in this place and a couple of shops?" The elf looked from face to face, wondering who'd answer him.

Amber took the proffered hand and shook it, her grip firm, but not exactly strong. "I'm Amber," she replied. "Pleased to meet you. I certainly wouldn't mind how to use my knife better," she commented. "I've always wanted to learn how to fight with one, though the stars know I've never really had a reason for it. But I guess if I'm going to be out on my own from now on, I'd best learn how to take care of myself." She gave a small chuckle. "As if anyone would want to bother me." She glanced at the swords the elf was wearing. "On the other hand, from what I've heard, longer is always better, when it comes to blades anyway. But like I said, the knife is all I've got at the moment."

She glanced over at Shanah as if noticing her for the first time. "Thanks for the welcome. I hope I don't cause too much trouble for you. Don't worry, I don't feel like killing anybody yet. I'll let you know when I do." She winced. "I mean, *if* I do."

Shanah laughed.
"Don't worry, it's normal. Luckily people can only "yell" at eachother, or I suspect half of our members would be dead."

As for my knife," she went on, "I'm okay with it I guess. I haven't killed anybody with it, if that's what you mean. But I know how not to chop my hand off or cut my own throat, and my brothers know not to play around with my temper

"I'd reccommend that you get a larger melee weapon. It's a good idea to keep some distance between yourself and an opponent. A longsword, maybe, or a quarterstaff."

AmberK
11/20/2004 4:45 PM

"I may have a temper," Amber said, "but I usually don't go beyond yelling. And that's only if someone is *trying* to make me mad." She nodded thoughtfully at the weapons suggestions. "I don't think I could even hold a longsword, let alone fight with one," she mused. Then she brightened. "But I have used a quarterstaff before, though I'm not exactly proficient at fighting with one. At least I can hold it and wave it around in a threatening manner."

Glimmer shifted and raised a crystalline claw, her golden eyes bright with merriment. "The Barraks are back along the north wall, and the shops-" She shifted again, the shining claw pointing east.

"The shops, especially the armory, are located along the eastern part of the central Keep."

With a sigh she stretched her wings to the sun, sighing in contentment.

11/20/2004 6:42 PM

Caelin turned and glanced at Glimmer, then pondered briefly on his words, before he spoke to her in a friendly manner. "I thank you for the directions. Would you care to accompany us and join us for dinner, as soon as we dealt with our lodging and found Amber at least a warm coat and a short sword?" The genuine smile he gave her after his words, was the first sign that he meant well.

Before anyone could reply, he however turned to Amber and explained himself. "The short sword will serve you until you built up enough muscle or strength to wield a larger one, the coat is to keep you from freezing along the way. We'll have to see what else you need, but perhaps our winged friend here can give us some advice along our path."

With the same smile he glanced at Glimmer, then added: "Perhaps a drink after dinner by the fire, so we can all get a little acquainted?"

11/20/2004 6:47 PM

Amber listened to Caelin's explanation. "Okay, sounds fine to me. I know I'd feel a bit better with a bigger blade at my hip." She glanced at the sky overhead. "But I don't know why I'd need a coat," she went on absently. "Doesn't look like it's going to get cold anytime soon." She looked back at the elf. "'Specially if we're going to have a drink by the fire."

Observing the now fairly large group from afar, Ittou sighed. He slowly walked toward them, putting on the face of a village idiot. This would be unbearably embarassing. But it must be done to get them on his side. He ran toward them and pratfell flat on his face. He couldn't wait to get this over with. "Excuse me!" he said to the teachers, " I humbly request your advice and training." He fell on his knees. "Please! I come from a line of noble warriors, but I am unworthy of my lineage. I wish to carry on this tradition." The sword at his side glints in the sun.

Eliar looked thoughtful as he glanced at Ittou.

"Hm. I was 13 when I started freeform RPing. Means that I've been in the business for around 7 years." He then turned his attention to Viridian. "Well, my suggestion is to try participating in a one or two RP threads first, get to know some people, before starting your own RP thread. Frankly, some people are rather apprehensive in joining a RP thread created by a newcomer because one, they don't know the thread starter well enough, and two, they are not sure whether the thread starter is here to stay. There had been many cases when some newcomer came in, started a thread, had some people to join, and then disappear without a word, leaving the players hanging. And since not all players are exactly that flexible and attempt to let the thread progress by itself, they would abandon the thread in the end as well after waiting for too long."

The spiky-haired mage shrugged to himself.

"I've been here for years and I've never started my own RP thread. I've seen too many abandoned threads around, and they left me disenchanted and disillusioned. My Thread Enders Inc. had to appear sometimes to help 'end' a thread in the most imaginative and wacky of manners. Some people tend to think of us as annoyingly rude, but for me, nothing is more annoying than abandoned RP threads."

Realizing that this was the longest speech he had ever given in months, Eliar magicked himself a glass of water and finished it in a gulp.

Khaerel
11/23/2004 8:39 AM

(Hello, m'name's Carol,*shy little wave* new poor little sympathy case here, looking for wisdom. I'll drag my char in here and have her ask all my questions. Oh, and please don't judge my abilities by what I put here--Number One, I noticed this place isn't exactly formal RP, so I sort of dumbed it up a bit, and Two, I am in a sort of slump just now, and I dunna want to use up what little juice I have going on every little detail until I get into a thread, lol.)

The clouds roiled, the thunder...well, there wasn't thunder. Probably over the top. But there WAS roiling, I can tell you. And...where was I...oh, yes, well, roiling, and then Khaerel the Rune Witch was dropped into the midst of the Training yard by the allpowerful Creator of herself, Carol the Magnificent. "BE GOOD" the almighty Goddess of all things in her own head told the little woman, then the clouds stilled, and all was well again.

Sugh things were commonplace in Khaerel's experience, however, so she took it in stride. Her Creator (Carol the Beautiful) was forever plopping her down in chat rooms and forums and even on paper, occasionally, just to have those torn up in disgust, for Goddess Carol the Wondrous was petty that way.

Khaerel dusted herself off--a meaningless, nervous gesture since there wasn't much dust in the sky, after all--and looked up, only just then noticing the people nearby. She ran a hand across her pale blonde braid, checking to see if she was presentable, straightened the pack of things Carol the Benevolent insisted she should have and yet Khaerel had never used in her life, took up her staff--which she DID use, and really ought to thank the Goddess Carol the Resplendent for inventing for her--and approached them.

"I beg pardon," she said quietly--Khaerel tended to speak quietly, except when Casting--"but I was told to come here. Ask questions, and the like." Generally Khaerel's grasp of the English (or whatever it was in this place) language wasn't quite 100 percent--another of the "charming character flaws" her Creator (Carol the Absolute) had forced upon her--but the Goddess (Carol the Merciful) had seen fit to change that for today so they could get some answers without much trouble.

Khaerel was an unfailingly patient person--she didn't see that as a flaw, personally, but the Goddess (Carol the Omniscient) had put it in that personality quirk category when inventing her, so she wasn't going to argue--so after announcing her presence, she was perfectly prepared to stand there for an indeterminate time. Carol the Courageous hated that, by the way, and it was Khaerel's own little means of getting revenge upon her Creator. Khaerel could be petty on occasion herself, obviously some sort of ruboff from the Creation

While Amber waited for Caelin and the others to lead the way to... wherever it was they were going, she watched the newcomers closely. Particularly Khaerel. It wasn't everyday that Amber saw someone just fall from the clouds above and land without any sort of physical harm. It was intriguing. Most intriguing, and Amber could tell she was going to have to work hard to keep her curiosity down to a dull roar, so to speak. It wouldn't do for her to overwhelm the other woman with a million questions about why she had fallen from the sky and why she wasn't dead right now, and a thousand other things that were just as important and interesting. So while the other stood and waited for a response from the others, Amber swallowed her questions and stood as still as she could - which was to say she fidgeted only slightly less than normal.

Fridgar Blackhammer could barely move a muscle; his short dwarven legs seemed to experience paralysis and his hands lost their strength and will to do anything. His face turned pale, his black beard now wet by the sweat trickling down from his forehead, and his dark black eyes, widened, were fixed on a woman not too far ahead. Experience should have prompted him into ducking for cover or reaching for his battle axe which was slung to his shoulder, but the sight of the woman dropping from the sky only to stand up again instead of breaking into pieces like a broken doll proved too much for the dwarf and frozed him like an icy breath from a dragon would.

After many more missed heartbeats, the dwarf managed to regain his composure, thanks to the pain of bitting his teeth into his lips. He gave his left cheek a quick slap with his gloved left hand, cursing silently beneath his breath at his sudden exposure of weakness. His determination of receiving training had brought him here, all the way from beneath Thorbadin, and nothing will stop him now, not even a woman who Fridgar thought would survive if Reorx himself threw her all the way across Ansalon.

As he began to narrow the distance between him and the group, he noticed a tall human had appeared to greet the group before him. He waited briefly for the group to reply back, pretending the scratch his beard with his right hand as his left hand remained close to the hilt of his battle axe. Seeing that there weren't, Fridgar stepped close to group, eyes closely watching for any sudden moves, before introducing himself.

"My name's Fridgar Blackhammer, son of Vianor Blackhammer. I wish to be trained in the art of adventuring."

Khaerel
11/29/2004 9:33 AM

Khaerel stared at the dwarf, mulling that over in her head. Training in the art of adventuring. That sounded awfully good. "I would also like some of that!' she said enthusiastically.

Above there was a sound, as if some enormous hand was smacking an equally large forehead.

"KHAEREL!" the Goddess whispered, which is to say, everybody could hear it, and those with sensitive ears would most likely have to cover them to keep them from bleeding. Khaerel herself twitched slightly, but felt it might be wise to pretend such things were commonplace. Which, of course, they were, in her experience at least. Her Goddess was not known for subtlety."ASK THEM THE QUESTIONS I WROTE DOWN FOR YOU!"

Khaerel frowned, then looked at her hand, which she could have sworn had not held that pink Post It note a moment ago. "Um," she said, squinting at it. "Right. So. I am supposed to ask these questions of whoever here is, um, knowledgeable." That was an awfully long word in a language she hadn't been very familiar with just a short time ago. Just goes to show the powers of Goddesses, even marginally incompetent ones.

"GO ON," the Voice from Carol the Fruitcake...er, or some more flattering term...urged her.

Khaerel flicked a rather annoyed glance upwards, then focused on the paper again. "Um, I cannot read this word, oh Mightiest One. Or any of these words." Aparently Carol the Shortsighted had given her servant the power of speaking this language, but not the power of readng it.

Sadly enough, this sort of thing happened often ehough that Khaerel was used to it.

The Post It note magically--that was the only word for it--transformed into a piece of cured leather with charcoaled writing upon it that looked far more like artwork than language. Khaerel sighed a bit in relief. Now THIS she could read. She cleared her throat quietly and began. "Firstly," (and somehow her mind was able to translate her own writing into English speaking. She really wasn't going to question that. It would take too long.) "I am to ask... How Does One Italicize?" She was also hoping she had spelled that right, not that she had any idea what the word meant. It was actually capitalized that way on the paper and everything. "For there is no button for it, or handy switch-like thingy..." (Yep, this was her Goddess's work, alright) "And Carol is mightily confused about the whole thing. Secondly. Oh, wait, nevermind, I guess she figured that part out, the writing here is sort of erasing, while I'm looking at it. Right. Okay, NOW Secondly, Carol wonders if it is possible for one to play two characters in the same account." She squinted at it then looked upward. "That doesn't even make any sense to me."

More roiling occured, then Khaerel's eyes widened slightly as information was zapped into her head like a fax. Or something. "Oh. What she means is," she continued, looking back down, "is...well. I am intended to come live in this place. I sort of have this hunting bird, but it's not really a character, so it doesn't count. BUT, I DO have a horse, which used to be a person but is not now thanks to unpleasantness with a witch, and has a story and thoughts all her own. Would Carol write for the both of us in my account here, or should my horse have her own account? Likely we'll be in the same place all the time," she added, really trying very hard to get her Goddess's point across. "I mean, you know, the horse isn't just going to go wandering off into another forum or anything."

"MADE SENSE TO ME," Carol the Brilliant said to nobody in particular.

"Perhaps showing them my horse would help," Khaerel suggested. A half second later, a really very ugly old nag with the tattiest coat you've evey seen and two milky eyes obviously eat up by cataracts fell right out of the sky and landed there as if let down by the gentlest of elevators. The horse looked around blankly, then started to eat grass.

Khaerel stared at it. "That is not my horse," she said flatly.

"I HAVEN'T, UM, EXACTLY FIGURED OUT HOW I WANT THE HORSE TO LOOK JUST YET," Carol the Snarky apologized. "YOU'LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS ONE."

"What kind of place could you GET this poor thing?!" Khaerel demanded of the sky in general.

"EBAY," Carol the Spectacular replied promptly.

Khaerel pointed at the horse, which had sadly died while they were talking. "Take it back, please. I can do without the visual aid, I believe."

"SOMEONE NEEDS THEIR COFFEE," Carol the Mistakenly Divine grumbled, and the horse rose stiffly back up into the sky.

Khaerel sighed heavily and looked back at the leather parchment. "She also asks what Forum might be suggested, not too crowded, but with some people to talk to. And I think that's it." She looked up and smiled brightly, as if nothing odd and possibly sanity-devouring had happened at all.

For the non-playas, you can just whack em' six ways to Sunday, and see brains and bits of skulls splattering around. But for players, you should just let fly and see what happens. For instance..."

Feeling the increase of magic in the air, Kalia turned towards its origins, and saw the smallish fireball hurtling towards her. Dragons, being inherant of magic, don't usually need the commonplace spell componants that other arcane mages do, no need for rose petals or rabbit fur.

A word escaped her lips and she raised her hand, her fingers glowed a etherial, silver blue color. The fireball struck her hand, and dispersed into thousands of sparks that fell harmlessly to her feet.

"What's the big idea Eliar?" She asked, giving him a vexed look.

Fridgar nodded repeatedly in understanding, his left hand caressing his beard as he tried to digest all the information.

Against this lot of people, he thought, his battleaxe seemed like a mere toy; he had a better chance going against a dozen orges blindfolded compared to a single dragon who negate fireballs with a finger, not to mention a woman who survived a drop from the sky.

"Aye, I see yer point there. So I guess the melee won't exactly end till me or the bloke decides to receive a wound then?" At the end of the question Fridgar frowned, feeling that the question was a bit odd.

He asked himself, 'Why would anyone do that?'

Amber listened carefully as talk went back and forth about fighting. She arched an eyebrow. It was interesting, but to her, it was largely not understandable. "First, to answers Fridgar's question," she said. "Most people will take a hit, just to keep things believable. If you are fighting someone who keeps dodging, then it gets old and tiresome. Now, Amber, the reason people sometimes get into fights is because that's where the story leads them. No one can always talk themselves out of a fight. Besides, it's boring if all you do is talk."

Amber grimaced as she watched Fridgar swinging his axe around. She had a very good imaginnation, and she didn't have any trouble figuring out what he was thinking about. "Well," she said, "I just hope I don't have to do too much of it. Somebody would have to get me really mad for me to want to kill them. Not that it's never happened before, of course."

Caelin

"At some given point in time, you too will have the unfortunate pleasure of having no other choice then fight, Amber. The only difference is, that this is more common among some species then to others." Caelin spoke softly, but with enough volume to be heard by most of the people around. A somewhat sad look crossed his eyes, as he sighed deeply and sat down.

It had been the first time that he spoke without a lecturing tone, instead his voice had been filled by what could be named as a hint of sorrow. "It is within the nature of things, whether it is through fear or hatred, or simply trying to protect what you hold dear, that you will one day come to fight for your survival. It is an event that is almost inevitable."

Silently the elf drew a rune on the ground, with the use of a twig he had picked up. As he was done, he drew his knife and made a small incision in his finger, letting the blood fall onto the rune. At the moment it touched the lines, they began to alter. A vine sprouted up from the spot where the rune started to disappear, growing exponentially until it began to form flowers. Roses no less and they were as red as the blood spilled on the rune.

12/03/2004 8:11 AM

Khaerel was too busy staring at what the Elf was doing to notice that the parchment in her hands was erasing and being rewritten, as if by some phantom hand. Runecraft, was what it looked like, something like her own Craft, but different as well. She wondered if she could ask him about it, now, while they all by freakish chance spoke the same language...

A small, round object that thanks to later analysis was identified as an M&M fell out of the sky and struck her on the head. "READ THE BLOODY PAPAER! I GO THROUGH ALL THIS TROUBLE AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET...." Carol of the Powerful Voice Box complained.

Rubbing at her head--an M&M from several hundred feet up could sting if it hit a person in the noggin, you know--Khaerel jerked her attention back to the parchment. It was in English, again, but apparently her Goddess had finally gotten her act together, and she could read it. The following insanity is what she read, to herself, fearing public execution if she verbalized it:

The following is a test of the Italics buttons. This is only a test. In the event of this actually being good writing, it would be, well, better. And make sense. Possibly. Repeat, this is only a test.

Once upon a time there was a little old man who lived by the sea. One day he got eaten by a whale, and that was pretty much the end of the story, except for all the cool parts inside the whale, with the pirates and the mermaids and the interesting things they did together, oh YEAH, and that thing with the clowns... I loved that part...THE END.

"DID IT WORK?" Carol the Almost Pitifully Hopeful asked.

"Dunno. You haven't put it up yet. It just shows up with the little symbol things and such for me, you know."

"OH YEAH."

Amber looked vaguely uneasy as Caelin explained why it might be necessary for her to fight one day. She didn't exactly relish the prospect. She could have a temper every now and then, but she had never really wanted to do permanent, physical harm to someone. She nodded at his words, though, recognizing that they were wise, and realizing that, perhaps, he had some experience in the matter. Instantly, her curiosity kicked in, but she saw the sad look on his face, and decided she would ask later. It was extremely hard though; the only reason she held back was because she didn't want to embarass him in front of so many people.

She watched what he did with the rune with undisguised interest and amazement. "That is so cool," she piped. "But what good do roses do? Can you make other stuff like that? What about that food we were supposed to go get? I'm starving..."

Caelin
12/04/2004 1:58 AM

The elf looked up at Amber and smiled faintly, before he rose to his feet and pointed at the rosebush, which was still growing. "Roses, dear Amber, are one of the beautiful things of nature and they remind me of what I have lost in the past. There is a way to create things with the use of the runes, each having it's own specific meaning. So you could say there are much more things I can 'make' like this." He didn't speak further, although he could have done so for quite a while to make his point.

"Ahh, yes. The food. If our invited guest is ready, we can go and have some." Caelin glanced at Glimmer and waited for her to move.

12/06/2004 7:53 AM

"WOO HOO! IT WORKED!" Carol the Candymuncher cheered, showering the entire training ground with rainbow confetti.

Her devout subject merely stood there, sighing as the sparkly little paper bits floated down around her. She'd never get this stuff out of her hair. Then she yelped and jumped to one side as the dead horse from earlier slammed to the ground right where she had been standing.

"OOPS," Carol the Apologetic said. "I REALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE PUT THAT IN THE SAME BAG AS THE CONFETTI..."

"It's alright," Khaerel said from between grated teeth. "I am unharmed, so there is no need to....worry...." She ducked as the horse was followed by several rings of keys, the remote, and ten mismatched socks.

"THAT'S WHERE I PUT THOSE!" Carol the Mildly Psychotic said cheerfully. All the assorted items (except the horse and confetti) floated back up, then suddenly the theme song of Young and the Restless floated down from Above. "I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO DARIEN'S BABY! I MISSED THIS SHOW YESTERDAY, COULDN'T FIND THE REMOTE..."

Khaerel glared upwards, sighed again, and picked up her things, which she had dropped to avoid being crushed by barnyard animal life. Er, unlife. She bowed to the surrounding instructors and fellow travellers alike. "You have my thanks, at least, for your aid, good people. I go now, to one of these places this kind sir-" She directed another bow at Eliar, "-said needed revival of some sort. If I do unwell there, I shall return here, for further guidance." She redirected her glare up at the still lazily roiling clouds. "I am going!" she said loudly.

The TV shut off. "OH. RIGHT." And Khaerel was drawn up into the sky as suddenly as she had arrived, leaving no sign of her presence here...except for a hundred pounds of confetti...and a dead horse...and possibly nightmares.

There was a muted thud from the tree line and a slouching beast emerged from seeming ly nowhere. His armor was covered in bones, serving as an extra layer and his weapons, what could be seen of them shimmered in the light. A voice seemed to erupt in everyones mind.

Oooh a training ground. Just my luck. Ive been under a stasis spell for years and im a little rusty.

The creature rose to its full height of eight feet, his wicked claws clicking lightly and the dual bladed glaive on his back seemed to flicker.

"Oh look, another one," came a call from the training ground. A black-cloaked man staggered into the clearing, then abruptly collapsed.

He could feel the fires consuming him again, creeping into his mind and whispering thoughts of power and glory. All around him lay the enemy, dead from his blade. Fires raged in his eyes as he stood there, with his arms held high and swords dripping blood.
This was his first battle and the blood lust had been high, almost costing him his life as he plunged blindly into the thick of the enemy camp, alone and against orders. The fires had consumed him then.

Kameryu yelped as she suddenly fell from the sky......which seemed to be the favored method of travel in the Training grounds. Insult to injury, she had not even landed in the cafe like she was supposed to....she had missed the training grounds completely and was a pile of swords, clothing, and long black hair, spitting out japanese swearwords, just outside the training grounds.

Kameryu:Uh......why am I here? I'm supposed to be over in the Feudal Era RP on the other site, aren't I?
Shanah: Shuddup. I need a character here.
Kameryu: *whining* But why meeee?
Shanah: Because you're a new character and I need to work on you.
Kameryu: *whinewhinebitchmoan*
Shanah: Go. Now!
Kameryu: Fine.....
Shanah: *goes back to her computer*
Kameryu: Baka.
Shanah: I heard that.

Kameryu sat up, groaning.
"Bloody writers....."
What was she supposed to do again? Something......

"Someone come over here, quick," she called. "I think he's really sick."

That's as close to a prohetic calling as I'm gonna get.....
She stood up, wobbling for a moment, likely more a result of the ungodly amount of sake from the night before then the fall from the sky, and made her way towards the woman, occasionally having trouble when a tree suddenly seemed to appear in her path....if only the world would stop spinning, this would be sooooo much easier.....

Finally, she reached the woman, who had unexplicably become two, merging back into one.
"Uh....do I count as someone?"
She looked at the man on the ground, who looked very sick.
"Yeah.....shouldn't we call someone or something? Help? Doctor? Priest? Rabbi? 9-1-1? 4-1-1?"

Caelin
12/24/2004 2:50 PM

Caelin approached as well, took a peek at Kameryu and shook his head. "Hung over, I gather?" With his fingernail he traced a rune on her forehead and the world stopped spinning. "That should keep you clearheaded for about two hours, so you can check up on the one that keeled over. I'd love to see how you aim to fix that."

With a grin he stepped back and allowed Kameryu to attend to the one on the floor.

His name's Caelin.
Kameryu: Gee, thanks.
Shanah: Shuddup.

".......Caelin."
Kame put her hand on his forehead and jerked it back. He was burning up!
She stared down at the man on the ground, remembering her training a bit.
"Right, we should probably move him inside.....laying out here on the ground sure as hell isn't going to do him any good......I think we should be able to carry him inside if we try together...."

The elf nodded and walked towards the head, but before he moved to lift the man up, he stared at Kame and smiled lightly. "Before we move him, you seem to have caught me at a disadvantage, a name to call you by would be nice."

Without any hesitation, he grasped the man under the arms and lifted the torso off the ground. Of course he could have done this otherwise, but before he'd show this ability to anyone, he needed to know whether this would be safe for him to do. The lower arms, now exposed to common view, revealed a set of intricately carved bracers, the runes upon them.

Farther down the road from the training grounds a shadow was creeping from tree to tree, boulder to boulder, mask and ninja garb going from brown to gray perfectly mimicing its surroundings. As he drew nearer he could see some sort of commotion, someone lay on the ground obviously sick and there were other people about. A small chuckle that sounded more supernatural than human escaped his lips.

"This must be the training grounds" Hand said to himself in a hollow voice devoid of any life. "Not much to look at, not that i need training, but i suppose i shall humor them"

He calmly began the short walk the last 100 yards to where everyone was standing eyes immidiately going to the tall creature with the glaive they began glowing a fierce yellow then went back to the solid white like marble.

Knowing they would not see him untill he was standing on there toes he spoke up "Ahhh what kind of merry band is this" he said loudly enough for all to here. "It looks as if hell has spit up all the dodards and fools onto one place" he said chuckling all the while in his otherworldly tone, he awaited a response.

Caelin
01/03/2005 1:39 PM

Calmly Caelin regarded the newcomer, a rather false grin on his face and seemingly not bothered or startled at the spoken phrase from Hand. "Merry? Worried would be more fitting, yet not deaf enough by far as not to hear you coming. You may walk around unseen, but unheard is a different matter. Or should I say unsmelled, with that unsavory scent you give off, which I might add is less than palatable? Whether hell or not brought us here, stranger, to assume we are naught but dodards and fools reveals to us that the largest fool just walked up."

The elf turned his head towards Hand, his face now void of expression and his icy cold eyes now locked onto him. "Plus in order to spit us, it requires being swallowed first, which I assure you will be a very daunting task. Now are you going to stand there and spout more nonsense by yourself, or help carry this man inside?"

aegis_fang
01/03/2005 2:05 PM

Hand turned his head slightly in the dirrection of the elf, eyes narrowing "ahh is it so troubling to know that the keen vision of an elf is not enough to spot me, or the fact that i give off the scent of death as a farmer would give off the scent of sweat?"

As he said this he shifted to face him more, as he did so the sun shone at an angle to just give the hint of a katana sheathed at his hip, but it was shimmering as if an illusion."As for this weakling on the ground, i am here to see the trainers not help fools that cannot even help themselves"and each time he spoke there was just a slight echo as if he spoke from some other plane.

Turning back towards the others he said "I shall await the others, you do not concern me elf, be gone or feel the bite of my wraith blade".He then dropped to the ground sitting indian style as he awaited the trainers.

Caelin
01/03/2005 2:39 PM

Caelin smirked at the rude figure, now sitting on the ground, then shrugged and motioned the others. "Let's tend to the sick first, we'll deal with the deranged later." He pointed at Hand and shook his head. "No use in trying to teach the ignorant, is there? It seems that the stranger with the god-complex is not ready to be taught yet." He took a firm hold of the sick man's shoulders and nodded towards the feet. "If someone would get the feet, then we can tend to him inside." For the rest, he plainly ignored the sitting figure.

Kameryu glared at the newcomer. Such arrogance! Fools and doddards!

As for this weakling on the ground, i am here to see the trainers not help fools that cannot even help themselves"

Every training of the Bushido, the way of the warrior that every student of the Old Way of the Samurai, screamed in indignation. This man was without honor, not to help a fallen warrior.

"I shall await the others, you do not concern me elf, be gone or feel the bite of my wraith blade"

Kame stepped towards him, resisting the urge to draw one of her twin katanas and attack.
"Did no one ever teach you that you don't simply threaten to kill people for no reason? Clearly not. I would recommend you don't threaten random people, else you find yourself eventually matched against one who will not take your arrogance."

Caelin's words calmed her, and she nodded, turning back to the injured man on the ground.
"He doesn't look good....what do you think happened to him?"

Caelin
01/04/2005 8:30 AM

Caelin grinned and shook his head. "Well, unless he's a natural blonde, we can safely assume that he didn't just forget to breathe. Other then that, I would have no idea, until after we get done with examining him. The most logical conclusion would be an illness or a slow working poison, after all, he did get here on foot."

Aeramae
01/04/2005 8:57 AM

Straea looked over at the sickly man.

"Perhaps he's just.....sick. I mean, he hasn't moved since he got here. Perhaps he died while we were dealing with this ignorant asses."

Mae smirked, looking at the two tiresome fools who had recently shown up and started to threaten people for no reason. Straea was right. They were ignorant asses.

Aria shook her head, and stood up. Sighing, she left the body, and joined Mae. She looked at her odd friend, and shook her head again.

"Nothing that I, a vampire, can do for him without his consent," she muttered. Mae raised an eyebrow, and the vampiress gave her shape-shifting friend a dark look. "You know by now how I do things. Unless it's food, I don't bite without permission."

"Whatever you say, vampire," Mae said, and grabbed a flask out of her boot. "What do we do about the newbies?"

The vampiress shook her head.

"I don't know. I guess we'll let the masters of the keep decide that."

Exile
01/04/2005 11:06 AM

He was falling. He didn't know for how long but the darkness was to inviting to leave behind. He looked all around the gloom and noticed his body, giving off an other worldy light. Blue flames licked around his face and body, not burning him but seeming to cool him.

He could feel the presence of an other worldly creature drawing near him, but could not awake from the confines of his mind. The flames had passed by, and with them the dreaded nightmares and memories of his past. At least in the darkness he was always safe from his past.

Caelin
01/05/2005 6:28 AM

Calmly the elf posed a possibility. "The most logical course of action against a fever like this, would be to keep him wrapped in ice, so that he will not burn up from within." He smiled as he stated this and turned his head towards Mae and Aria. "Wisdom would be for us to ignore them completely, but I guess you are right in letting the Masters of the Keep decide what to do with them."

Caelin grinned at Aria, then uttered a remark. "For what it is worth, I will not be offended if you consider the last arrival as food."

"OH LOOK, YOU STARTED A TREND," her Goddess said cheerfully. Then, not to be outdone, this time Khaerel rose out of the ground. We don't know why, but she did.
"Hello," she said cheerfully. "I had one more question to ask about somethAGH!" The agh probably stemmed from the fact that as she had tried to take a step forward, she hadn't, since her feet were still a foot or so under the ground, so consequently, she fell over. By the by, at this time her feet were "magically" freed of the earth and a very nasty snicker came from the clouds.
Laying on her side, Khaerel rather seriousy considerd deicide. She thought that was the word for it, anyway. If not, she made it up. She also found herself about a yard away from someone on the ground as well, with several people clustered around him. Uh oh. Bad timing. Probably they were too busy helping that poor fellah to answer her question. Oh well, lying here was good. She lifted her head just enough to look around and wonder where the dead horse had gone, shrugged one shoulder, and settled back down.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Carol the Blundering asked suspiciously.
"Resting," her faithful subject replied calmly. "Was there something you wanted?"
Grumbling to herself, Carol the Cranky didn't reply.

As Hand sat there listening to the fools fret about the weakling, and the samarai with her empty threats the pain began again, this time working its way from the base of his skull to the tips of his feet. The long dead ninja master he possesed was trying to wrest away his control yet again, a feeble attempt really, but annoying nonthe less.

With a simple thought he banished the warrior yet even farther into the abyss. he thought as he rose from his crouched position stretching to his full 5'9 frame.

"Honor?honorable?" he asked the samarai in his supernatural voice."These titles are from human origin, and have no meaning to me, i do only to the benifit of whatever task i am underway with."

A wide smirk and a mischievious sparkle in is eyes came upon Caelin's face, as he overheard the question from Hand. "I suppose now would not be a good moment to tell him to stop yapping and go jump into quicksand, now would it?"

He glanced at Hand and motioned at the feet of the sick man. "How about you lift those and help me carry him inside? I think that would be a good start, Grasshopper." At the moment he spoke the last sentance, he changed his voice, to resemble that of an old chinese man.

His mask caught the sunlight and seemed to acctually ignite. This time would be the worst.

"Dont follow me for any reason, bad things are about to happen. Oh, hes got a pretty nice rack of broken ribs from the fall and thats supressing his breathing. Beyond that, I cant read anything from his aura. Good day folks and ill be back covered in blood."

"You started the trend by dropping me out of the sky," Khaerel corrected, rolling on her back and staring upwards. "And I'm not sure if I started it, or if I just had the ill luck of continuing it. I do hate heights, you know."

"There is a way of making color in your posts," she told the girl. "I just have to experiment for a moment to see if I remember how it's done."

Aria paused in her thoughts, realizing that all she had to do was look back at page 5 in order to re-learn how to make colors. Smiling in victory, she jumped in the air.

"I did it! See! All you have to do is this:
In brackets put in the words Font Color=plus your desired color, in my case, blue. After you close that up with the > at the end, type your text, and then close it off with /Font Color in the funny littel brackets again."

Gecko staggered back out of the forrest soaked in deerblood and sap. He leaned against a tree and vigerously shook his head, sending fluids around him. when he rose, his eyes were clearer and his stance a wee bit less arrogent.

"Sorry about that, things needed to be done. Is there a source of water in the imediate area?"

He indicated his soaked self. His mouthless face (OOC: hence the mental reading of weak minds) was in a grimace behind his mask. All he could see was decaying deer's aura and decaying tree sap aura. He was virtualy blind.

Aeramae flew back into the courtyard, her time away was done...for now. She glared at Eliar, and shook her head.

"You can't just say the words," the female Sayian said. "You have to do everything. Like this."

Aeramae walked away from the group, and faced an outer wall. She placed her feet shoulder width apart, and placed her hands, wrist to wrist, palms out, fingers slightly curled.

"KAME..."

She drew her arms back behind her.

"HAME...."

A glow started to emit from her hands.

"HAAAAA!!!!!"

Aeramae brought her arms around in front of her, a huge beam of ki shooting from her hands. She smiled, as she noticed a large hole in front of her in the once solid wall.

"That's how you get it done," she said, turning and smiling at Eliar. "Wanna see me do a Big Bang Attack?"

"wake... up... wake up...... Wake Up... WAKE UP!" His mind called out to him. His eyes slowly opened and he tried to get up, only to fall back down as a wave of disorientation hit him hard, sending him back onto the ice bed he had been on.

His body was chill to the touch and his nose was running. Where am I? he thought to himself as he looked around the still spinning room.

"That's it, Khaerel," Aria said, nodding in approval. "That's exactly it."

Caelin look the half-kin over and grins. "Welcome Orion, it looks like you made it over here after all. Generally within a first post however, most people tend to give a bit of a description of the character, what he looks like, etc. This so people have more to react upon."

"As to what is going on, we're waiting until exile here finally decides to get to his feet, so we can communicate a little easier. Constantly looking down is hell on the muscles in the neck." With a grin the elf pointed at the man on the bed.

The man slid off of the ice bed, yes slid because it was now beginning to melt, and hit the ground with an "oof." His entire body was red from the chill touch of the ice bed and he was slowly regaining the feeling in his outer extremities.

Putting a hand down and trying to get up, he quickly fell back down, unable to work his unfeelable body. "Oh, and the names Chris." He said from his stomach, looking up at the group. "And... where are my clothes?" he asked, finaly realizing he was nude and feeling very uncomfortable.

His mental voice was soft now that he was rested and he shredded some strips of an old cloak to wrap around the numb Chris before his ribs dug into his lungs. He did it so fast he might have been a doctor in previous lifes. He then found the poor guy's clothes and handed them too him.

Caelin
01/13/2005 3:25 PM

"That is a rather sound advice." The elf commented and grinned towards the Vampiress. "Of course, if you do not listen to her, she might bite." he stated to the two newly arrivals.

"Welcome to the training grounds. My name is Caelin and yes, the pointed ears do indicate that I am in fact an elf, although 'I' can choose not to be." He motioned around him at the others present. "Most here are either those willing to assist with any questions you may have, or are just like yourselves looking to get answers."

"Now if you'll excuse me for a little while, I have to step outside, since what I am about to do is not fitting to be done in here, for it will make the room a little cramped, so I will spare you that experience."

With that said the elf walked outside and positioned himself in the middle of the grass, seemed to ponder for a bit, then slowly a fog rose from the ground, taking him from sight. The mist grew thicker and expanded exponentially, until it covered a large lot on the grass, then slowly started to dissipate.

As the mist cleared, the elf seemed no longer there, but instead a large green dragon eyed straight at the door, shook his head and stetched out the leathery wings on his back. "Now that feels good." The voice was deeper then that of the elf, yet the intonation was the same as used by him. "Someone tell me where I might find some livestock to chew on?"

"Wow Caelin looking good, who would of thought you were a dragon?" said the half elf to himself. Kerrick looks into the sky as it begins to darken and his eyes begin to water. Back on his farm when he was young he used to go on top of his house roof and play his flute until he fell asleep under the stars. Slowly he reaches under his shirt and pulls out a pure white flute, made from the bone of a griifon, and begins to play an old tune he had learned from a kindly old innkeeper. His eyes begin to water again at the end and after he finished he went over to see what the others were doing.

Caelin
01/14/2005 5:39 AM

Caelin grinned at Glimmer, then dipped his head in thanks before he replied. "Please do not let the appearance fool you, ancient one, for it still is the same elf within this shell. Besides this current hue I have taken, I can also produce black scales, but I assumed the green would be less offensive to you. You have my thanks in regards of the food however. With some help from yourself, I might be able to take on a silver form, but I need to study such a creature, before I can mimic it. The ability to shapeshift is nice, but rather difficult to master. Fortunately, with the change of form, I do not lose my own nature, as many of the shifters I met do have this issue."

Caelin slowly approached the dragoness, after he had finished speaking and placed his nose straight in front of Glimmer's nose. "I believe it is common curtesy to rub noses amongst your kind in gratitude, unless you would rather join me in getting a bite to eat?"

Once again the green dragon stretched it's wings, then dipping the head closer to the ground and at the same time playfully swaying it's tail back and forth, while producing the sound of a hatchling. ~Now if that does not soften up the tension, I do not know what will.~

Mae ran up to the two dragons, an unusual emotion for her showing on her face: Excitement, with a tinge of happiness.

"Caelin," she said somewhat breathlessly, "you're a shifter? Can you change into anything you want? Like me?"

The odd woman dropped to all fours, and proceeded to change into a wolf. She barked at the two dragons, and then shifted into a silver dragon, silver being one of her favorite colors.

"Can you change into other things?" she asked excitedly.

Aria shook her head, and glanced over at her unusual companion, Mae. It seemed as if the other woman would be happy for awhile. She turned her attention back to the chaos before her.

"Kerrick," she said, hoping she had the name right, "you might want to try punctuation, and spaces between paragraphs. It usually helps others when reading a post you have written."

"Ill be sure to try and do that in the future" he said

Kerrick looked at Mae and Caelin in his dragon form and sighed then slowly stood up and walked over to Mae.

'The ability to shapeshift is amazing" Kerrick said wistfully "Mae could you possibly teach me in the art of shapeshifting?" he asked hopefully

"I would not want to be a burden but I am always willing to learn something new" he tooka pipe and some tobacco out of his pouch, said all small incantation, and breathed deeply waiting for an answer.

Caelin

Caelin pulled a dragonish smirk, then allowed himself to be engulfed within the mist again. As he appeared out of the haze, he had the form of a rather large cougar. Walking around Mae, he batted at her tail, then snuck around her, to rub his head against the silvery dragon's front leg, while purring. "A number of other forms, although I only mastered a few of them. I am a Lythari elf, the form of a wolf is our inborn heritage, yet a few received the ability to learn more shapes. I was fortunate and studied hard to reach it. You and will need to talk more, Mae, for I haven't been able to figure out how to make the dragonscales appear as silver for some reason."

Aeramae
01/14/2005 9:12 AM

Mae shook her head at Kerrick.

"I'm sorry, but this isn't something I learned. It is something I was born as. I've always been a shapeshifter, as were my parents," she told him. She then turned her attention to Caelin. "I just picture the form I wish to take, and the color I wish to be, and that's how it happens. Perhaps, if you tried to see yourself as being another color other than green or black, then it might work."

Caelin
01/14/2005 3:53 PM

"That sounds easier then it seems, perhaps I have merely thought too much about it, instead of trying to do as I wanted. Allow me to try something." With a few swift leaping paces, Caelin stood a little away from the rest, then concentrated and the mist engulfed him once again.

Thicker and thicker the mist grew until it had reached a density that made it inpenetratable to the eye, from within a slight glow could be spotted, which turned brighter and then died out, the mist starting to dissipate shortly after that. From within a head came forwards, covered in silvery scales, but with golden accents on the neck. As he walked further out of the mist, the golden accents seemed to run all the way to his tail, but the rest of the body was truely silver scaled.

With a pondering look in his eyes, the dragon glanced at Mae and spoke up in a surprisingly warm tone of voice, melodious and crystal clear. "Mae, I'd like you to be honest, how does it look?" Without waiting for a reply, he traced a rune on the ground in front of her claws and grinned as he drew a few smaller ones around it with a long black talon.

From the heart of the first rune, a twig sprouted after a few seconds, which grew quickly up to the height of three feet, then began to sprout flowers while the branch swiftly deteriorated. The flowers opened and seemed to be in perfect shape however, folding open and forming itself, up to the point where Mae was suddenly glancing at three wonderful orchids. "Even that works in this form, so I must have done something right." He stated contemplatingly. "Voila, a few flowers for the one that made me realise something."

Kalia_Majere
01/14/2005 4:05 PM

Glimmer watched all of this with a calmer outlook. Realizing that Caelin wasn't a true dragon. She watched it all with keen interest, having been told long ago that she held the potential to change her shape at will. She had only mastered her true form and her human form... but it really wasn't as if she had tried.

She yawned and folded her wings. She glanced away from Caelin and Mae to stare at the sky above.

"Shape shifters," Chris muttered to himself as he witnessed the spectacle before him. It seemed quite a few of the inhabitants had the ability, which didn't seem to overly impress the human.

He walked over to his clothes, a pile of black garments: black boots, black gloves, black cloak, black pants, and most importanlty a black mesh cuirass. He looked at them with a bit of sadness in his expression, he couldn't remember anything about his past.

Caelin nodded towards Mae and spoke after a short moment of deliberation. "I thank you for the compliment, Mae. However, if you do not want to take the flowers as a gift, then take them as a token of friendship, as I feel we can learn a great deal from eachother."

With less effort, the elf changed back into his normal shape and extended his hand towards his newly found 'friend'. "After all, people such as ourselves should look out for eachother, sharing our knowledge to better our abilities for the benefit of all. As for Glimmer here, although we are not truely dragons, our company as such can be rewarding to her as well."

Kalia_Majere
01/16/2005 5:52 AM

"Sorry bout my little dissapearing act. I had a strong feeling that I had to visit a very close friend" she smiled a little smirk all her own. She then looked twards Kerrick and got a look of anger on her face, stood up and walked over too him.

"I'm here to figure out how to use my powers again, so someone please give me an excuse to get angry. Any excuse at all. Hit me, throw something at me, throw ME off a cliff. Or better yet, fight me."

She was falling but quickly pulled her Katana and stuck it in the ground. She flipped and turned mid air and landed on her feet once more. She then just watched the others.

Chris watched the thing disappear shortly after striking it in the face. Then felt an eruption of pain in his back right collarbone as his opponent re-appeared behind him and drove his elbow into him.

"I wasn't expecting that," Chris said from the ground, rubbing his soon to be bruised collarbone.

"I didnt think you would."

He Dissapeared and walked around that girl who had fell from the sky. He reappeared with a click of his claws and nodded. It was coming back.

Kellie was in amazment for the fact that Chris and Gecko where fighting. She was hoping that the fight would stop. She sat down. She reached into her bag and pulled out a flute made out of crystal. She began to play a very old tune, it was over 1,000 years old. It was a song she learned from her grandfather. She played it in hope to calm everyone's spirits.

Aria looked over at Chris and Gecko. She took a step towards them, and stopped.

"Hey, if this is going to get out of hand, then you should take it out of the courtyard and into the practice field," she told them. "Just go through that door, and you'll be there. The rest of us will be watching safetly from back here."

The vampiress pointed their way, and hoped they would take her advice.

"I got bored. So I traveled back in time and kidnapped the baby version of myself to play with." The mage said. "Say hello to Baby Swifty!"

A man walked to the group, silently.
His head was balding on the brow, but his hair was shining with silvery strains among the short black hair. He crouched besides the boy and eyed his fox. Then he looked up and with a smile he said:"Young woman, I have heard this melody a long time ago. Who has taught it to you?
I could tell you a story about it" he sighed.
"I guess I coiuld tell lot's of stories. Telling stories is my life."

Kellie stopped playing. She looked down at the man and said "I was taught by my grandfather. He was going to tell me the story but he died before he could tell me..." She turned away trying to hide the tear she shed from the thought of her grandfather.

The man was seemingly happy that he could tell his story. He smiled again and said:
"Long, long time ago, I was walking in some deep forest. It had been long month since I had set off to find the much-rumored Moror, the Black Mountain. Not many will remember those days and the world was different from what it is now. They said that Moror had many mysteries hidden in it's dense mists and those who dared for it would be well rewarded. Those days I still was young, not so eager to tell stories but to live them..."
He looked arround. Soft lines of sweet pain could be seen in his face and all of a sudden he didn't seem to be a man in his middle ages, but very, very old.
"By that time my name was Wolf and I lived on the northern foothills of the Bezhgora Sarha, the Manycoloured. My parents had died and, hearing of this, I had left the monastery they had sent me to, in order to learn the holy scripts..."
..
.
..
...Wolf panted in the cold air while he climed the steep path leading to the pass. If lucky, he could reach the southern hangs before nightfall and get on the main road towards east. There he would find a great town and finally the great Moror. Or so he had heard. A couple of hours had passed from noon when he felt like being watched. High elmtrees and beachtrees cast a deep shade on the ground. He steeled his heart and marched downwards to the vale. But just as he stepped out into a meadow between the woods he heard a strange, calming melody. On a flat stone, just a few yards away sat a man, clad in rich brown garments. On a crystal flute he was playing an enchanting song. Wolf, as stolen of will, walked torwards the man. The man greeted him by name and told him of things yet to come...
..
.
A sudden laughter startled the group standing around the man. They had been totally emmersed, as if they were standing there on the meadow.
"Well, I won't tell you now what exactly he told me by that time." He seemed young again. Indeed younger than before. He turned to the girl
"Dear, I am sorry to say that it wasn't your grandfather whom I met, but tell me more. Perhaps we can find a clue in my story, leading to his story?" He looked apologetic.

Kerrick woke up from his concussion do to the encounter with Kellies bag. He looked at Kellie than at the guy standing in front of her then looked back at Kellie.

"Hey youre back!" he exclaimed with joy he pulled out his own flute from under his shirt and the two of them began playing together in unison.

After the song was finished Kerrick looked around and noticed a very small but familiar person with an oddly familiar fox. Kerrick slowly walked behind him and pounced on his back.

"Its about freakin time you ass!" he said to him the two of them began to play fight with each other throwing in some real hurt when necessary.

Elgowin and Kerrick both sat down, Kerrick looked over at Elgowin.

"After I ran away from home..." he looked to see if the others were listening "I trained and lived with my father for a number of years until my bastard step father came up to our house and challenged my father to a duel".

The Half elf looked to the sky and his eyes began to water "He slayed my father in front of me in cold blood" he said balling up his fist "So I grabbed my fathers sword.." he indicated the blade on his back " That was the first day I tasted blood he stole my father away from me all I did was return the favor"

Kerrick reached into a pouch and pulled out his pipe again, took a long puff and exhaled.

"After that I lived in the woods for awhile and eventually joined an army for hire, Ive been on my own ever since."
