The rising sun settles upon the Keep.... the huge stone structure seemed solemn in the bright, gay sunshine. The courtyard had once echoed with the sounds of fighting, of steel against steel and shrill battle cries, but now sat silent and still.
At the moment, two teachers stood off to the side staring at the empty practice grounds... each wearing a badge pinned to their leather armor. The first of the two was tall, and had long silver hair that fell past her waist. Her golden eyes swept the empty feild... wondering when the new recruits would arrive....

The grass is softly cruched underneath a large furry boot repeatedly one after another, one foot in front of the other a rather tall man walks into the courtyard, strawberry blonde hair gently tickling his broad shoulders. His braided red beard seemingly flowing down into the middle of his barrel chest. The fur cape spanning his shoulders absorbed the rays of the sun. Animal hide coated his skin from his tunic to his leggings traveling down into his boot.
He filled his lungs with the warm fresh air and made eye contact with the two folks observing the courtyard.
"I am in seek of training" he told them sternly with a voice of the wild "I hope i have come to the right place"

Ther second of the two was a youth with short spiky dark-hair, and he was eyeing his wristwatch with his perpetual bored expression.
He filled his lungs with the warm fresh air and made eye contact with the two folks observing the courtyard.
"I am in seek of training" he told them sternly with a voice of the wild "I hope i have come to the right place"
"Yep. Welcome to Eliar Swiftfire's Madhouse." Said the mage named Eliar with an evilly evil grin. "So, what sort of training do you seek? Each minute will cost you a reasonable fee of one hundred bucks. But then, money means nothing when you're undergoing a training as great as this one, yep? I can teach you the Flexibility Theory, which is quite in fact, a great theory I came up by myself. This is a valuable little thingie that can prepare you for ANYTHING, and you won't have to whine or leave an adventure halfway just because things ain't happening to your liking. But I suggest you leave this for the last. Uh huh."

Looks over the newcomer for a long moment, allowing Eliar to continue his little speech. "And I can teach you the value of proper punctuation and paragraph spacing. As well as the strengths of a decently thought out character..."
She pauses for a moment, brushing a lock of silver hair away from her eyes. "So what is it you would care to know?"

Many days have passed, yet the newcomer had not opened his mouth.
Eliar grew impatient. "I'm growing impatient. I know I am a good-looking mofo, but you don't have to be THAT starstruck, dude. Anyway, a simple lesson, dearies, when you're in the middle of an adventure, and your companions ain't doing anything, YOU should be the person to keep things running, even if they stay silent, YOU yourself should think of a way to end the adventure of yours. Yep. Otherwise, you'll end up having an abandoned adventure, which, to us normal peeps, are known as 'dead, abandoned threads', that's totally uncool. If my Thread Enders Inc. is still active, we would have provided the service of 'ending your thread' for you, but that would suck, right?"

Airiana walked up behind the other-worldly mage and nodded her head. "Aye," she said simply and sighed. "Thou wouldst think that if they wished for help, they would stay longer..." She said and brushed a lock of onyx-black hair over a pointed ear, her silver eyes scanning the horizon. "But perhaps the next one will deign to stay longer... we can only hope."

He waved towards the buildings, at the thousands of female students who were all weeping and sobbing hysterically, and walked off. It would've been a touching moment if those students weren't illusions conjured by him.

A small pair of red eyes watch the figures above him.....slowly walking tpwards the grounds from a reasonable distance [about 40 feet] the man is from head to foot clad in a sorcerers robe. His facial feautures are all hidden except for the pale red eyes. With a flick of his neck the hood slowly falls backwards revealing his face. His eyes were red but pupiless, which was what he sacrificed for magic. Orange shoulderlength hair poured forward. He was handsome, but an unnerving aura surrounded him, a 13 foot staff stood at his side as a thin chuckle escaped his pale lips. His mouth curved into a slight curve slight smirk as he let out another dark shrilling laughter, probally not hearable. "Training grounds eh..." pathetic. Those who needed training grounds were either weak or not meant to survive, or atleast in his book. Speaking of books, he raised his right arm, the large sleeves opening before he grabbed a seemingly spell book out and opened it. As he began to slowly walk towards them , his eyes scanning them vigrously, memorizing them. It would be wise not to disturb him but before you had the chance he desposited the book back into his sleeves, and finnally arriving at the training grounds. His eyes lazily shifted from one to the other person. Overhearing the last part of what he said, he seemingly ignored it and stood their, possibly waiting for someone to greet him..

Airiana's eyes glanced over the man quickly, cold and calculating. "Well, hello. And as I have told thee already, welcome to the RPGC! Thou seemeth a bit on the arrogant side, I dare say, but the first thing I think thee must learn is that everyone has room for improvement!
"For instance what thou hast just written... more than one paragraph would have made it much easier to read! When thou hast changed thy thought, change as well thy paragraph! Other than that, thy thoughts shouldst be in italics (use and without the spaces)." She said then looked at Kalia. "So my friend, what dost thou think? Is there anything else we could help him with given the text he hath provided?"

Kalia looked the mage over.... her gold eyes narrowing. She had heard the laughter (Can't hide much from a dragon ;)) and the sarcasm in his words... "Your discription was well done, Master Mage... However, to mine eyes, your robes are a drab grey... I do not know your alighnment (Though deducted by the description I'd assume a Black Robe)
Though she didn't care for the dark magics....she smiled faintly and nodded.
::I think he'll do for a first timer:: She thought-sent to Airiana.

"This one is mine..." She says, and leads the man away by the elbow. Giving him a second look-over, Kalia sighed and shook her head.
"Okay.. first of all, proper punctuation really helps, as does capitalization of certain words. people here can get kinda irate about such things." She pauses, her golden eyes thoughful.
"And you really need to work on your descriptions... this isn't P&P RP where one can just grab your character sheets to get a better description... remember, you are our eyes to your character...without proper description, you leave it up to our imaginations....and that can be dangerous around here" Kalia laughs.
"I apologize for dragging out back here out of the story Fernwood Villiage II, but I felt that you had some serious work that still needed to be done. Take your second post in that particular story. It wasn't nearly descriptive enough... your horse? what kind? what does he look like... what does your character look like besides the yellow eyes and the pointed ears? And dragon?? as you said "My dragon" your char is a warrior as you have stated... you couldn't have control over a dragon... unless it was just a friend/companion.. and in that respect, it would have to be metallic, cuz red dragons are just too volitile(just a deduction from the name "Flame")"
"We want to welcome you with open arms, and the point of this training grounds is to eliminate potential problems and future "Flame" wars"
Taking a deep breath, Kalia pauses, and waits to see what this stranger would have to say....

"Well, well. Looks like a newcomer training session. Might be entertaining. I probably could help those unfortunate teachers down there."
She shrugged, pushing a strand of smokey blue hair out of her face, where two locks of it, escaped from their black headband, framed her face.
Eyes of the same blue were narrowed against the rising sun, and clothes that of the same color stirred slightly in the breeze. The young dragon shrugged, and hopped off the ledge, into the courtyard.
"Hey there. I'll help you with newcomers!"

Airiana said, her eyes seeming to haze when she spoke, as if replaying her earliest memories in her mind. "My father, a Red called Chenullo, was a typical Chromatic, and so the two of them seemed to get along just fine. They did not stay together long... indeed, not much longer then to conceive myself and my clutchmates, but that was enough. The other Silvers charged my Mother to destroy us, being abominations in their site, and banished her afterwards. She suceeded in killing all but me, and would have done that as well if it were not for me hiding. I do not know what they did with my Father, but I would think he was made to leave as well." Then they ordered that vicious brute of a dragon, Pyroan, to kill them! No wondet those two ran for it, through the Anvil."

But then," she shrugged, "most of our kindred are either on one side or the other, not both and neither at the same time as I am. Perhaps that has something to do with it as well." She took a long draught of her wine and sighed again, standing. "Well, it has been interesting speaking with thee, but I have grandchildren to check on, so I will leave thee for a time." She said with a nod as she left the table and went over a ridge in the land, seeming to disappear.

"Ah, of course." Eliar laughed merrily. "Anyway, since we've just started out, there are only three staffers in the place, Kalia, me and Airiana the part-timer. Wanna join us? We do need a janitor! It'll be like, soooo fun! You'll be known as Jack the Vampire Janitor! Or just Jack the Janitor! Even cooler, you are Janitor Jack, who kicks Samurai Jack's butt!"
"I'd be happy to. I'm actually a pretty talented janitor, I had quite a history before-well, you know." He scrunched his eyebrows and hissed. "You get my drift, eh?"
"Greetings all. I am the Lord of Bones, high necromancer and general bad guy. Allow me to pass or I shall make you all my mindless servants." *cackles devilishly and then starts coughing*
Aeramae
06/03/2004 3:17 PM
Aeramae sauntered in, her brown hair flowing freely and unbound, green eyes taking in all she surveyed. Her loose fitting black skirt swished about her knees, complimenting the white peasant top she wore. She was barefoot, and with every step she took, her ankle bracelets, decorated with miniature bells, jingled. She smiled at everyone who was gathered there.
"Hello all. Hope you don't mind my stopping by," she said. "I could use a small break if you catch my meaning."
She looked over at the man coughing. She frowned, and reached for a purse that was not with her. She cursed silently under her breath, and then forced a small smile.
"I'm sorry you seem to be...troubled. Perhaps you should get a glass of water and a room here. You may need to stay for quite awhile."
"Bah! The Lord of Bones doesn't ned water to survive! How dare you offer such a paltry gift to your betters..." *starts coughing again* "Oh damn it all... Where would I go about getting a glass?..."
The necromancer looks at the attractive girl with a red face. Maybe through anger, but probably through embarassment.

"All righty! Then we won't have any trouble cleaning up the corpses and remains of our students!" Eliar laughed and pulled out a mighty wand, no, not THAT wand, but a real wand used by wizards. Placing the wand on Jack's shoulder, he spoke solemnly. "I dub thee Janitor Jack, official Janitor of Training Grounds. You now have the right to clean up anything, you are the Cleaner (tm), as in, well, Jean Reno in that movie, Leon: The Professional. But keep away from my collections of Witches Without Breeches and Playmage. Mwahahahahahahah!"
Then, he waved to the newcomers (LoB and Red_mage's chars). "Welcome to Training Grounds, my dearest dears!"
"By the way, I now declare this place a Free Trade Zone! You people can set up their shops here if they want to!" Eliar said. "We will only charge a low monthly rental fees, yeah!"
The necromancer looked on at Eliar with a sideways glance and one corner of his mouth curled up in a grin. "Well if we are free to trade..." The Lord of Bones removes a large briefcase from his cloak and opens it up. Inside are lots of encyclopaedias.
"I am the Lord of Bones! High necromancer and Encyclopaedia salesperson! You will bow down or buy some of these books for amazingly cheap prices!"

06/04/2004 7:05 PM
Airiana came back over the hill just in time to see Eliar disappear, three dragonets bounding behind her. They seemed an odd trio to be there, but they seemed to get along nonetheless. One was silver with sapphire eyes, a second was red with eyes of emerald, and the last was onyx-black with eyes that were ruby-red. They each skipped behind the dragoness-in-elvish-form happily, even playing with each other. As she came towards the others, she smiled, seeming just as happy as the three dragonets nipping at her heels playfully.
"These are my grandchildren... I am sure that we can find a way to include them in training of newbies one way or another... even small as they are, they should provide a little challenge if all three work together."
"Ha!" shouted the necromancer. "I shall easily take the red one. It shall make a nice pair of boots methinks. Fight me whelpling! I am a master of my chosen art!"
The Lord of Bones begins to prepare a spell.
Airiana
06/05/2004 9:24 AM
Airiana looked at the Lord of Bones a moment, sighing. "There will be no boot-making from the hides of mine grandchildren. Sparring is all that shall take place with them; there shalt not be any killing. As they are but hatchlings, they will work together, the three of them combined. Surely a necromancer as strong as thou art could'st take on these three small ones?" She asked, her silver eyes sparkling and her mouth set in a little smirk.
She motioned for the dragonets to gather around her and she spoke to them softly in an ancient tongue. When she was finished, the three little ones nodded as she stood and backed away. "A referee, methinks, would be the best way to handle this. As such, a neutral party must be named... Crystalamira?" She called, searching for the crystalline dragoness, "would'st thou care to do the honors?"
The three dragonets spread out in front of the Lord of Bones, each one seeming to tense slightly. The silver dragonet narrowed his sapphire eyes and watched the necromancer carefully. He seemed to be flexing and stretching out his claws, wings, and tail.
When the red moved into position, his scales seemed to glint with a silvery sheen. His emerald eyes were wide and he whipped his tail from side to side as his foreclaws drew arcane symbols in the air before him.
The black dragoness seemed to also have a silvery sheen to her dark scales as she moved. She held her head high and her neck seemed as gracefully arched as a swan's. She alternately flexed her claws and muttered words under her breath, though what she said was lost to all with the quietness of her tone.
"Indeed you are right, female! I could take three dragonkin on... Nay! More! I could take on an entire... what do you call a group of dragons?... a pack? a swarm? Bah. Prepare to duel scaly ones! I have only prepared spells that will subdue my enemy, but if one of them attemps something... all that will be left of them will be ash."
The Lord of Bones pursed his hands into a slightly open ball and then released them with a flourish. A dark green mist flew toward the red dragonkin and sunk into it's head square-on. Rolling backwards with unusual deftness for as wizard, the necromancer began to prepare another spell as he waited for to see whether the paralyzation spell would take effect...
"And the name my... acquaintances... refer to me as, is Shradin. Shradin Mulophor to be precise. I have travelled the Planes, many Primes from Krynn, to Athas to Faerun... I am sure you will be a worty rival to my power."

Kalia had turned at the call of her true name, and frowned.... she had missed the entrance of these new dragons, and she glanced at Airiana questioningly, but nodded all the same... Stepping foward, a brilliant white light surrounded her, and expanded to reveal a dragon much larger than these hybrid wyrmlings.
Each faceted crystal scale of this dragon dazzled the eyes untill a spell of warding was invoked to dim the reflection. Her golden eyes were fixed on the goup before her as she stretched wings that were feathered, not membranous... each feather had an opalescent shimmer, and where as white as snow. Wings spanning more than one hundred and fifty feet, her sineuous body from nose to tail stretched to near ninety feet. She fixed her gaze on the newcomers, especially the human...
"This is training only... no bloodshed allowed... " She snarled, a rumbling growl resonated in her chest. "I give this one warning only... those who fail to follow it will be very sorry indeed...."
Shradin gives a courteous bow as he prepares his second spell.
"I have been informed of the rules dear... thing. I will not kill, or maim even. I am here for the purpose of training. Of course, it will be you I am training. I need none for myself."

"Wow, Kilairiandra, you're lucky!" she stated, smiling at the young dragons.
A loud beeping noise interrupted her. She eyed her pager.
"Blast." she muttered, picking it off of her belt.
"Well, see you later. Don't mind if a blue-gold dragon comes through. We're supposed to meet here for drinks."
With that, she vanished, taking her slaves Jak and Zak with her.
Only a few minutes after she had disappeared, a young man appeared, along with a woman. Both of the dragons were unusual looking, with blue hair and gold eyes, but they appeared to be twins. They also were dressed strangely, in classic anime style. Both of them ahd smoky blue headbands, holding back the mans short blue hair and the girl's long hair. Both of them had katanas, though that appeared to be the last thing on their minds. They appeared to be in the middle of an arguement over a map.
"I'm telling you, this is the wrong place!!! Look, Mysti's not here!"
The young man scowled at his twin.
"She might have had to go somewhere-"
She rolled her eyes, turning to Airiana.
"Excuse me Madame, but have you seen a blue dragon around here? Short blue hair, blue eyes, calling herself Mystikalli? We were supposed to meet her here, but she clearly isn't here."

"A wing or a flight is what thou should'st call a group of dragons," Airiana informed him and nodded to the young dragonets, making a gesture towards Shradin, urging them to attack the necromancer.
The little red dragon blinked and shook his head, looking as if he was about to sneeze. Then he looked a little woozy and seemed to half-crouch before going completely limp. The silver dragonet looked alarmed and nuzzled his brother, finding him to have gone stiff.
The silver dragon turned his blue eyes to Shradin, blowing little blasts of cold air that looked much like a warm person's breath on a cold day. He whipped his tail agressively and leapt towards the man, claws outstretched. At the last moment, however, the dragon shifted his weight, and it was his thrashing tail that was aimed for the necromancer now, him having remembered the crystal dragoness's rule of no bloodshed.
The black dragoness blinked, completely losing her concentration when the minotaur poured the bucket of water over Shradin Mulophor's head. She blinked again and started giggling at the soaked necromancer.

Lieke growled and snarled at the cage of fire closing in around her. A moment's concentration and she found its loop hole, causing it to dissipate. Her ruby-red eyes glared at the mage and she thrashed her tail for emphasis. Her breathweapon was by no means spectalular just yet, but it was powerful enough to cause damage if it hit, and with this thought, she took a deep breath, intending to dispel the acidic substance on Merith. He's had a bit more practice at this than I have, though... that much is obvious... after all, the only battles I've ever had before were with Lieke and Gonawit... and what about Gonawit, anyway? Shouldn't he... ah, he's coming around! The dragon's sapphire eyes had drifted to his brother then just in time to see the little Silver/Red stir.
Gonawit rose to his claws and shook his head. He had been completely paralized, and it now seemed to him that he had never moved before, he was so stiff as the spell wore off. The little dragon shook every part of him in turn until he felt completely restored. The red dragonet concentrated on Shradin and again tried his spell. This time he was at least able to cast and release it; it was a wind spell that would probably not do more than make things difficult for the necromancer, but if it worked, it should be enough for Gonawit's brother to attack.
Seeing what the red was doing, Taet nodded and prepared himself to leap up after Shradin. It would be a rather large jump for the dragonet, but he was ready for it.

After many days, Jack woke up, rubbing sleep out of his eyes while he rose to a standing position.
"Hey! Where did everybody go?!"
Airiana yawned and walked over to him, for a moment ignoring the paused battle between her grandchildren and the newbies. "Seems that our n00bs have disappeared on us... I have been waiting for either of them to reply, but to no avail," she said and sat down at a table with a sigh. "Sad really... and it seems to happen all too often..."

"Oh well. I guess we just have to wait."

Jack sighed too, and then yawned.
"Oh well. I guess we just have to wait."
Airiana nods and magicks up a glass of wine. "Yes... but to be frank, I do not think that they will be coming back anytime soon... If it were not against generally accepted roleplaying laws, I would suggest that we kill off the characters, or at least stop their battle..."

"I'm sure someday, some newbies will stumble upon this place again." Eliar said. "Now, I'm going off for vacation."
He disappeared with a poof!

A loud far off voice boomed, "Are citizens of the world of Krynn allowed in these training grounds?"
OOC: Meaning can I use Dragonlance-only races in the Training Grounds. (Ex. draconians, kender)

"I think anything goes. As long as we get some damn activity. I'm about to fall asleep again," Jack yawned.

A small kender dressed in a small fur coat and orange breeches carrying an oddly made sling and a dozen pouches suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "Good. I am Apricot Thornslinger, a citizen of Dragonlance.com come here to RPGC to roleplay. I hope here in the Training grounds I can be taught the customs of RPGC and how to roleplay better. I see that all of you are professionals." His voice turned back to squeaky kender voice. "Basically I want to learn from all you professionals!"

The vampire yawned again, not very impressed.
"Well, there has been barely anyone around here, professional or not, for a while, except me. What do you want to know about this place?"

"I want to know your style of roleplaying and fighting before I enter the actual roleplaying sector and do something stupid." The kender then assumed fighting stance. "So, a practice duel anyone?"

"Well, there is an actual thread specifically for fighting, but there aren't many rules specific to these forums, other than typical etiquette. Although, if you prefer, I would be willing to fight you now."

Apricot not bothering to reply sent a well rounded stone towards Jack's head.

The stone hit, and Jack stumbled.
"Ow! Jesus! I thought you wanted a fight, not...something involving flying objects." Jack shook his head, and whipped a beer bottle at the kender's head, while muttering darkly about 'crazy midgets.'

Apricot pulled on the hoopak too and soon it seemed like a tug-of-war match. Apricot knew Jack was the stronger of the two and Jack would soon have the hoopak if this kept up so Apricot kicked Jack hard in the knee.
