The rising sun settles upon the Keep.... the huge stone structure seemed solemn in the bright, gay sunshine. The courtyard had once echoed with the sounds of fighting, of steel against steel and shrill battle cries, but now sat silent and still.

At the moment, two teachers stood off to the side staring at the empty practice grounds... each wearing a badge pinned to their leather armor. The first of the two was tall, and had long silver hair that fell past her waist. Her golden eyes swept the empty feild... wondering when the new recruits would arrive....

The grass is softly cruched underneath a large furry boot repeatedly one after another, one foot in front of the other a rather tall man walks into the courtyard, strawberry blonde hair gently tickling his broad shoulders. His braided red beard seemingly flowing down into the middle of his barrel chest. The fur cape spanning his shoulders absorbed the rays of the sun. Animal hide coated his skin from his tunic to his leggings traveling down into his boot.

He filled his lungs with the warm fresh air and made eye contact with the two folks observing the courtyard.

"I am in seek of training" he told them sternly with a voice of the wild "I hope i have come to the right place"

The first of the two was tall, and had long silver hair that fell past her waist. Her golden eyes swept the empty feild... wondering when the new recruits would arrive....

Ther second of the two was a youth with short spiky dark-hair, and he was eyeing his wristwatch with his perpetual bored expression.

He filled his lungs with the warm fresh air and made eye contact with the two folks observing the courtyard.

"I am in seek of training" he told them sternly with a voice of the wild "I hope i have come to the right place"

"Yep. Welcome to Eliar Swiftfire's Madhouse." Said the mage named Eliar with an evilly evil grin. "So, what sort of training do you seek? Each minute will cost you a reasonable fee of one hundred bucks. But then, money means nothing when you're undergoing a training as great as this one, yep? I can teach you the Flexibility Theory, which is quite in fact, a great theory I came up by myself. This is a valuable little thingie that can prepare you for ANYTHING, and you won't have to whine or leave an adventure halfway just because things ain't happening to your liking. But I suggest you leave this for the last. Uh huh."

Looks over the newcomer for a long moment, allowing Eliar to continue his little speech. "And I can teach you the value of proper punctuation and paragraph spacing. As well as the strengths of a decently thought out character..."

She pauses for a moment, brushing a lock of silver hair away from her eyes. "So what is it you would care to know?"

Many days have passed, yet the newcomer had not opened his mouth.

Eliar grew impatient. "I'm growing impatient. I know I am a good-looking mofo, but you don't have to be THAT starstruck, dude. Anyway, a simple lesson, dearies, when you're in the middle of an adventure, and your companions ain't doing anything, YOU should be the person to keep things running, even if they stay silent, YOU yourself should think of a way to end the adventure of yours. Yep. Otherwise, you'll end up having an abandoned adventure, which, to us normal peeps, are known as 'dead, abandoned threads', that's totally uncool. If my Thread Enders Inc. is still active, we would have provided the service of 'ending your thread' for you, but that would suck, right?"

A tall cloaked woman comes into the training grounds seemingly gliding over the grass, for her steps do not make a sound, and after looking from side to side she locks her focus on the man standing at the other end of the grounds and goes to him. . . upon reaching him she drops to her knees bows her head and says,"I bow my head in humble aquiessence before one more experienced than I. Will you train me?"

Airiana walked up behind the other-worldly mage and nodded her head. "Aye," she said simply and sighed. "Thou wouldst think that if they wished for help, they would stay longer..." She said and brushed a lock of onyx-black hair over a pointed ear, her silver eyes scanning the horizon. "But perhaps the next one will deign to stay longer... we can only hope."

"11 days have passed, yet I linger here, without reason, without meaning." Eliar said. "I will now leave this place, and continue my legendary quest to seek a legendary quest. If there is need for my services, then I will return with a mighty poof. Yep, farewell, my dears."

He waved towards the buildings, at the thousands of female students who were all weeping and sobbing hysterically, and walked off. It would've been a touching moment if those students weren't illusions conjured by him.

A small pair of red eyes watch the figures above him.....slowly walking tpwards the grounds from a reasonable distance [about 40 feet] the man is from head to foot clad in a sorcerers robe. His facial feautures are all hidden except for the pale red eyes. With a flick of his neck the hood slowly falls backwards revealing his face. His eyes were red but pupiless, which was what he sacrificed for magic. Orange shoulderlength hair poured forward. He was handsome, but an unnerving aura surrounded him, a 13 foot staff stood at his side as a thin chuckle escaped his pale lips. His mouth curved into a slight curve slight smirk as he let out another dark shrilling laughter, probally not hearable. "Training grounds eh..." pathetic. Those who needed training grounds were either weak or not meant to survive, or atleast in his book. Speaking of books, he raised his right arm, the large sleeves opening before he grabbed a seemingly spell book out and opened it. As he began to slowly walk towards them , his eyes scanning them vigrously, memorizing them. It would be wise not to disturb him but before you had the chance he desposited the book back into his sleeves, and finnally arriving at the training grounds. His eyes lazily shifted from one to the other person. Overhearing the last part of what he said, he seemingly ignored it and stood their, possibly waiting for someone to greet him..

Airiana's eyes glanced over the man quickly, cold and calculating. "Well, hello. And as I have told thee already, welcome to the RPGC! Thou seemeth a bit on the arrogant side, I dare say, but the first thing I think thee must learn is that everyone has room for improvement!

"For instance what thou hast just written... more than one paragraph would have made it much easier to read! When thou hast changed thy thought, change as well thy paragraph! Other than that, thy thoughts shouldst be in italics (use and without the spaces)." She said then looked at Kalia. "So my friend, what dost thou think? Is there anything else we could help him with given the text he hath provided?"

Kalia looked the mage over.... her gold eyes narrowing. She had heard the laughter (Can't hide much from a dragon ;)) and the sarcasm in his words... "Your discription was well done, Master Mage... However, to mine eyes, your robes are a drab grey... I do not know your alighnment (Though deducted by the description I'd assume a Black Robe)

Though she didn't care for the dark magics....she smiled faintly and nodded.

::I think he'll do for a first timer:: She thought-sent to Airiana.

"Not bad...." She said and extended her right hand. "I am Kalia Majere...welcome to the trainging grounds... you may stay here a bit longer or proceed through those doors to the actual Forum...." She said, gesturing to the huge, ornately carved wooden doors behind her.

Airiana smiled mentally and nodded. 'As do I... he hath some things yet to work on, but already he does well with description. `Tis only his format that needs work. I think he shall prove an excellent addition to our little menagerie if he should choseth to stay.' She mindspoke back to her friend.

Airiana bowed cordially to the mage, smiling slightly. "I am known as Airiana, and despite the few little mechanical errors thou hast shown, thy storytelling is good enough. I hope thou deign to stay a while with us here at the Consortium, we are like a very large family here, and no doubt all of us that roleplay would welcome thee."

She smiled again and glanced back at Kalia. 'Dost thou think he will stay, Friend of Blood?'

Eliar, who had went off to a nearby cafe for a drink in his legendary quest to search for a legendary quest returned to the place after remembering that he had forgotten to bring his luggage of Underpants of Doom. And then, he noticed another newcomer had arrived. Of course, after facing so many disappointments and frustration with previous newcomers he chose not to greet the person and went off into his room to retrieve his luggage instead.

Stares at the newcomer for a long moment. then with a movement almost imperceptable, she appears next to Eliar, and smiles charmingly at him.

"This one is mine..." She says, and leads the man away by the elbow. Giving him a second look-over, Kalia sighed and shook her head.

"Okay.. first of all, proper punctuation really helps, as does capitalization of certain words. people here can get kinda irate about such things." She pauses, her golden eyes thoughful.

"And you really need to work on your descriptions... this isn't P&P RP where one can just grab your character sheets to get a better description... remember, you are our eyes to your character...without proper description, you leave it up to our imaginations....and that can be dangerous around here" Kalia laughs.

"I apologize for dragging out back here out of the story Fernwood Villiage II, but I felt that you had some serious work that still needed to be done. Take your second post in that particular story. It wasn't nearly descriptive enough... your horse? what kind? what does he look like... what does your character look like besides the yellow eyes and the pointed ears? And dragon?? as you said "My dragon" your char is a warrior as you have stated... you couldn't have control over a dragon... unless it was just a friend/companion.. and in that respect, it would have to be metallic, cuz red dragons are just too volitile(just a deduction from the name "Flame")"

"We want to welcome you with open arms, and the point of this training grounds is to eliminate potential problems and future "Flame" wars"

Taking a deep breath, Kalia pauses, and waits to see what this stranger would have to say....

A young woman was sitting up on a ledge, watching the group.
"Well, well. Looks like a newcomer training session. Might be entertaining. I probably could help those unfortunate teachers down there."
She shrugged, pushing a strand of smokey blue hair out of her face, where two locks of it, escaped from their black headband, framed her face.

Eyes of the same blue were narrowed against the rising sun, and clothes that of the same color stirred slightly in the breeze. The young dragon shrugged, and hopped off the ledge, into the courtyard.

"Hey there. I'll help you with newcomers!"
She peered around.
"That is, if any show up. Or stay around, for that matter."

"Hmmm.... well, I thought we're at the courtyards." Eliar frowned. "But then, this is a place of massively powerful sorcery, so things can be pretty unpredictable here. And Van Helsing? Goddamn, words can't describe how bad it is. Heck, even Funny Faramir can't save it. It's just an expensive version of Underworld. Bah, for vampire flicks, I prefer the Blade ones. Maybe Interview With A Vampire too. Haha."

Moving with grace the black-fured sailor introduces himself as Kour. The sun reveals his well oiled leather skirt and silver nose ring which shines with great brilliance. His chest and arms are lined with scars which were attained from many years of sea battles.

When she'd finished dousing the flames, she rooted around in her bag again and came out with a new set of robes. Excusing herself from the others, she donned the robes and returned.

Airiana nodded to the woman and sat down. "Well, that does not make it right for her to take it out on all dragonkind, but then I think that the threat of water should... cool her down, so to speak," she said with a knowing grin. "The fire fae have not much love for their opposing element. Food no, I have only just eaten a couple rather large deer, and will be full for a few days yet. But a drink would be marvelous," she said with a smile, and with a couple whispered arcane words, a chalice of a dark red wine appeared on the table before her. "Nah," she said with a shake of her head. "If the roles were reversed, I would be as curious. My mother was a second generation Silver dragoness called Lanista. It seems that she was not fully of Good, for only her scales seemed to hold true to being a Metallic dragon. I think that by all rights she should have been born a black dragon, so wicked was she." Airiana said, her eyes seeming to haze when she spoke, as if replaying her earliest memories in her mind. "My father, a Red called Chenullo, was a typical Chromatic, and so the two of them seemed to get along just fine. They did not stay together long... indeed, not much longer then to conceive myself and my clutchmates, but that was enough. The other Silvers charged my Mother to destroy us, being abominations in their site, and banished her afterwards. She suceeded in killing all but me, and would have done that as well if it were not for me hiding. I do not know what they did with my Father, but I would think he was made to leave as well." She said, drinking more of her wine and sitting back in her chair, her eyes still seeming distant with memory.

"Part of the reason I avoid most of my dragon kindred. They tend to be so narrow minded. Look at those silvers all the way back, those second generation ones, Quicksilverthanlinstar and Jharkiannasilat. Kianna, driven mad by a taint from the egg, by the fire elementals! Then they ordered that vicious brute of a dragon, Pyroan, to kill them! No wondet those two ran for it, through the Anvil."

"The problem is, is that someday our folk will have to wake up and smell the goblins, like they say. And it mayb e too late, by then."

"Aye, they would probably learn much if they had flown over Krynn even a quarter of the time I have... most retreat too often into the Isles to have learned to wake up... walking the lands has changed me, of that I am sure... my outlook seems to be very different from most of our kindred. But then," she shrugged, "most of our kindred are either on one side or the other, not both and neither at the same time as I am. Perhaps that has something to do with it as well." She took a long draught of her wine and sighed again, standing. "Well, it has been interesting speaking with thee, but I have grandchildren to check on, so I will leave thee for a time." She said with a nod as she left the table and went over a ridge in the land, seeming to disappear.

Aeramae sauntered in, her brown hair flowing freely and unbound, green eyes taking in all she surveyed. Her loose fitting black skirt swished about her knees, complimenting the white peasant top she wore. She was barefoot, and with every step she took, her ankle bracelets, decorated with miniature bells, jingled. She smiled at everyone who was gathered there.

"Hello all. Hope you don't mind my stopping by," she said. "I could use a small break if you catch my meaning."

She looked over at the man coughing. She frowned, and reached for a purse that was not with her. She cursed silently under her breath, and then forced a small smile.

"All righty! Then we won't have any trouble cleaning up the corpses and remains of our students!" Eliar laughed and pulled out a mighty wand, no, not THAT wand, but a real wand used by wizards. Placing the wand on Jack's shoulder, he spoke solemnly. "I dub thee Janitor Jack, official Janitor of Training Grounds. You now have the right to clean up anything, you are the Cleaner (tm), as in, well, Jean Reno in that movie, Leon: The Professional. But keep away from my collections of Witches Without Breeches and Playmage. Mwahahahahahahah!"

Then, he waved to the newcomers (LoB and Red_mage's chars). "Welcome to Training Grounds, my dearest dears!"

06/04/2004 7:05 PM

Airiana came back over the hill just in time to see Eliar disappear, three dragonets bounding behind her. They seemed an odd trio to be there, but they seemed to get along nonetheless. One was silver with sapphire eyes, a second was red with eyes of emerald, and the last was onyx-black with eyes that were ruby-red. They each skipped behind the dragoness-in-elvish-form happily, even playing with each other. As she came towards the others, she smiled, seeming just as happy as the three dragonets nipping at her heels playfully.

"These are my grandchildren... I am sure that we can find a way to include them in training of newbies one way or another... even small as they are, they should provide a little challenge if all three work together."

Airiana looked at the Lord of Bones a moment, sighing. "There will be no boot-making from the hides of mine grandchildren. Sparring is all that shall take place with them; there shalt not be any killing. As they are but hatchlings, they will work together, the three of them combined. Surely a necromancer as strong as thou art could'st take on these three small ones?" She asked, her silver eyes sparkling and her mouth set in a little smirk.

She motioned for the dragonets to gather around her and she spoke to them softly in an ancient tongue. When she was finished, the three little ones nodded as she stood and backed away. "A referee, methinks, would be the best way to handle this. As such, a neutral party must be named... Crystalamira?" She called, searching for the crystalline dragoness, "would'st thou care to do the honors?"

The three dragonets spread out in front of the Lord of Bones, each one seeming to tense slightly. The silver dragonet narrowed his sapphire eyes and watched the necromancer carefully. He seemed to be flexing and stretching out his claws, wings, and tail.

When the red moved into position, his scales seemed to glint with a silvery sheen. His emerald eyes were wide and he whipped his tail from side to side as his foreclaws drew arcane symbols in the air before him.

The black dragoness seemed to also have a silvery sheen to her dark scales as she moved. She held her head high and her neck seemed as gracefully arched as a swan's. She alternately flexed her claws and muttered words under her breath, though what she said was lost to all with the quietness of her tone.

I have only prepared spells that will subdue my enemy, but if one of them attemps something... all that will be left of them will be ash."

The Lord of Bones pursed his hands into a slightly open ball and then released them with a flourish. A dark green mist flew toward the red dragonkin and sunk into it's head square-on. Rolling backwards with unusual deftness for as wizard, the necromancer began to prepare another spell as he waited for to see whether the paralyzation spell would take effect...

"And the name my... acquaintances... refer to me as, is Shradin. Shradin Mulophor to be precise. I have travelled the Planes, many Primes from Krynn, to Athas to Faerun... I am sure you will be a worty rival to my power."

Kalia had turned at the call of her true name, and frowned.... she had missed the entrance of these new dragons, and she glanced at Airiana questioningly, but nodded all the same... Stepping foward, a brilliant white light surrounded her, and expanded to reveal a dragon much larger than these hybrid wyrmlings.

Each faceted crystal scale of this dragon dazzled the eyes untill a spell of warding was invoked to dim the reflection. Her golden eyes were fixed on the goup before her as she stretched wings that were feathered, not membranous... each feather had an opalescent shimmer, and where as white as snow. Wings spanning more than one hundred and fifty feet, her sineuous body from nose to tail stretched to near ninety feet. She fixed her gaze on the newcomers, especially the human...

"This is training only... no bloodshed allowed... " She snarled, a rumbling growl resonated in her chest. "I give this one warning only... those who fail to follow it will be very sorry indeed...."

"Blast." she muttered, picking it off of her belt.
"Well, see you later. Don't mind if a blue-gold dragon comes through. We're supposed to meet here for drinks."

With that, she vanished, taking her slaves Jak and Zak with her.

Only a few minutes after she had disappeared, a young man appeared, along with a woman. Both of the dragons were unusual looking, with blue hair and gold eyes, but they appeared to be twins. They also were dressed strangely, in classic anime style. Both of them ahd smoky blue headbands, holding back the mans short blue hair and the girl's long hair. Both of them had katanas, though that appeared to be the last thing on their minds. They appeared to be in the middle of an arguement over a map.
"I'm telling you, this is the wrong place!!! Look, Mysti's not here!"
The young man scowled at his twin.
"She might have had to go somewhere-"
She rolled her eyes, turning to Airiana.

Rolling backwards with unusual deftness for as wizard, the necromancer began to prepare another spell as he waited for to see whether the paralyzation spell would take effect...

The little red dragon blinked and shook his head, looking as if he was about to sneeze. Then he looked a little woozy and seemed to half-crouch before going completely limp. The silver dragonet looked alarmed and nuzzled his brother, finding him to have gone stiff.

The silver dragon turned his blue eyes to Shradin, blowing little blasts of cold air that looked much like a warm person's breath on a cold day. He whipped his tail agressively and leapt towards the man, claws outstretched. At the last moment, however, the dragon shifted his weight, and it was his thrashing tail that was aimed for the necromancer now, him having remembered the crystal dragoness's rule of no bloodshed.

"Bah!" shouts Shradin, as frost wraps around the bottom halves of his legs. "You shall regret that dragonkin!" He attempts to get up but the frost has numbed his legs to such an extent that he is unable.

"No matter! This will not prevent my casting." He makes a quick incantation and a one syllable verbal component, as he floats about 6ft into the air, righting himself so that he looks like he's standing.

((OOC: Eep! Sorry, kinda forgot about the battle between Shradin and Taet... I was waiting for Merith still... >.He has a lot of power, the little silver dragon thought, noticing his own strength beginning to wane. He's had a bit more practice at this than I have, though... that much is obvious... after all, the only battles I've ever had before were with Lieke and Gonawit... and what about Gonawit, anyway? Shouldn't he... ah, he's coming around! The dragon's sapphire eyes had drifted to his brother then just in time to see the little Silver/Red stir.

Gonawit rose to his claws and shook his head. He had been completely paralized, and it now seemed to him that he had never moved before, he was so stiff as the spell wore off. The little dragon shook every part of him in turn until he felt completely restored. The red dragonet concentrated on Shradin and again tried his spell. This time he was at least able to cast and release it; it was a wind spell that would probably not do more than make things difficult for the necromancer, but if it worked, it should be enough for Gonawit's brother to attack.

Seeing what the red was doing, Taet nodded and prepared himself to leap up after Shradin. It would be a rather large jump for the dragonet, but he was ready for it.

"Hey! Where did everybody go?!"

Airiana yawned and walked over to him, for a moment ignoring the paused battle between her grandchildren and the newbies. "Seems that our n00bs have disappeared on us... Airiana nods and magicks up a glass of wine. "Yes... but to be frank, I do not think that they will be coming back anytime soon... If it were not against generally accepted roleplaying laws, I would suggest that we kill off the characters, or at least stop their battle..."

A small kender dressed in a small fur coat and orange breeches carrying an oddly made sling and a dozen pouches suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "Good. I am Apricot Thornslinger, a citizen of Dragonlance.com come here to RPGC to roleplay. I hope here in the Training grounds I can be taught the customs of RPGC and how to roleplay better. A Tan skinned tall muscular barbarian walks up to the training grounds. He looks at a dark figure atop of the wall to his right. He Desides to ask about the nature of this place it looked like a battle field he could see blood about here and there. so he yelled to the figure in common.

"who be you and where is this place i've been walking for days and I seek some shelter." Inquired the man

Glimmer was coiled around one of the highest spires of the keep, and she opened one golden eye to stare down at the man who called out. She raised her head and yawned hugely.

"Wow... a Visitor? Any longer and I fear we would have been overrun by the cobwebs!" She exclaimed as she stretched her stiff feathered wings in the sun, hoping to warm them...

Airiana
10/05/2004 7:24 PM

Airiana smiled from the shadows of the keep's wall, walking towards the man with a nod. "Hail, barbarian," the dragoness-in-disguise said with a smile, putting up a tanned elven hand in greeting. "This is a place of learning for those new to roleplaying as a whole, or mayhap just to our own little community. We are here, along with the other-worldly mage, Eliar Swiftfire, to help thee in thy skills. I am called Airiana by most... Comet by thine own people and the elves... may I ask thy name, traveller?"

zell2000

"yes and you may have it young elf my name is Thor Thunderfoot!" Said the barbarian slightly distracted by the women's beauty thinking that she would most likly be a married women forgot or atleast tryed to about her at least for the time.

He walked up offering his hand in friendship and bowed before her as women we idolized by his people and it was his custom to do so when he met a women. He mumbled about not needing training in his own tougue but if that would let him be around her and other women he would have cut off his hair and wore a dress to be near her.

Airiana
10/05/2004 9:24 PM

Airiana smiled, silver eyes glittering with amusement. " 'Young elf'? Well... neither is correct but thou wouldst not know this... I am older than thee canst even imagine, child, and an elf only by design," she said in Common and took his offered hand.

"Thou art very charming, but I fear it is in vain, sir... and any and everyone may benefit from a little 'training' every now and again," she said with a grin as she replied this time in his own tongue.

She looked up at the crystal dragoness on the spire and grinned again, switching to her native Dragonic tongue. "Quite a charmer, if suffering from run-on sentence syndrom... What dost thou think, Crystalamira?"

Aeramae
10/06/2004 2:37 PM

Aria roused herself at the shouts of a new arrival. She nudged Aeramae, who nudged Mae, who in turn, nudged Jack. It was embarassing to admit it, but after some long amount of time they had all passed out either to being tired, drunk, or both.

"Hey, we've got ourselves a newbie of sorts!" Mae cried. "It's about damn time too!"

Thor stared at her in amazement and awe for a moment before understanding what she really was.

"Wow this is amazing sorcery how did you do it dragoness?" Asked Thor with an embarassed look upon his face.

He walked to examine the nearest guards armour and touched it with his finger it crumbled into dust.
Thor then smiled slightly as he looked at the dragon . "you could use my blacksmithing skills antiques are cute but ineffective in combat." Thor said unpacking his traveling forge n anvil.

Glimmer (Crystalamira is her true name) watched the barbarian carefully. "Well yes, I supose so... though He does have a tendancy to also have a knowledge that he shouldnt...."((You stated Dragoness in reference to Airiana... She didn't actually say she was a dragon, only hinted that she wasn't an elf, or young... that could be two different races....other than she spoke in draconic to my char, there was no indication that she's a dragon))

She flexed her wings again, and then leaped from the spire, spreading her feathered wings to their fullest extent, gliding to the large courtyard. before any of her clawed feet touched the ground her wings lengthened, and seemed to flow like silk. Her body reformed in the blinding brilliance that was reflected off of her scales. When she touched ground, she stood in her human form, with silvery white hair that fell well past her waist in loose waves... and bright golden eyes.

She wore clothes of white and silver silk, accented here and there by trims of bright scarlet, sapphire, amethyst and emerald embroidery. She extended one slender hand. "I am known to some as Kalia Majere, most humans know me as Glimmer, and Crystalamira to the rest...The Last Scion of Paladine..." She said, gracing the barbarian with a slight bow.

OOC: Sorry i haven't roleplayed in months im rusty my most gracious apologies milady.

BIC: Thor stopped and looked upon her and her scould see she was a kind person being an abilite to read peoples faces to get to know a little of them like if she had stress lines he could see none so she must not have seen as much battle as he. Thor bowed to the maiden and like he did with Airiana he hoped he didn't have a crowd of them pickng at him for this and that he felt like everything he did was being watched as if they were uneasy of his mysteriousness.

"I'm Thor Thunderfoot milady professtional blacksmith and warrior at your service have you need of anything to do with armour i have a wagon about a mile back with my griffon." Stated Thor with pride for he didn't know anymore than 3 others who had a griffon to ride. "I would have brought him but people tend to try to slay him he is really not a evil creature as is common belief i have no worries tho it would take a mage of the highest power to kill Titan." he said as he pointed to the wagon off in the distance. Thor whistled and the wagon began to get closer and closer until he was there titan was no joke he was a Griffon.

Airiana
10/06/2004 8:33 PM

Airiana raised an eyebrow at the barbarian male. "It is not often that any try to kill gryphons, save those who hate elves. They are benevolent creatures in this land, and are closer to the elven races than most others," she said in explanation as she walked around nonchalantly, velvety red robes rippling around her booted ankles. "Do try to use more puncuation in thy writing, sir... `twould make it much easier for others to read and respond to it."

When the gryphon came closer, Airiana inclined her head to the creature and bowed slightly, as one would to any intelligent being. "Didst thou call him Titan?" She asked Thor before turning back to the gryphon. '`Tis a pleasure to make thy acquaintance, Titan. I am Kilairiandralsilvantaslik... greetings and safekeeping to thee and thy kin.' She sent mentally to the noble beast, having dealt enough with them to know that they preferred mind-to-mind contact over translating the languages of other creatures.

Thor then went into his wagon and started preparing his wares for display. Titan, as always, was close behind.

My own longbow does well enough, and my magic does the rest."

She handed the bow back to him and smiled again. "I thank thee for the offer, however." The dragoness turned to Jack, a bemused expression on her face. "If thou were not a vampire, I would worry over thy health... drinking as thou hast been..." she made a soft tsking noise and shook her head, but smiled.

I mean, jeez, I don't even know if i was supposed to click on Reply or not, but I couldn't find anything else and...yeah. But I heard about this place from a friend, and I'm just TIRED of Yahoo's rooms, bad as they usualy are. So...and...yeah. HELP MEH))

The place looked so...medieval. Like the Renaissance fair or something. Kinda rocked, actually. Night tilted her head to one side, her rather tangled fall of dark hair shivering over the pulled-up collar of her floor-length leather jacket, taking the place in.

Yep. Just like a renaissance fair, except with...oh, something. Something different, a sense of REALNESS you didn't get from fat guys in spandex singing Shakespeare. It was that feeling, perhaps, that actually made her wander on in, made her yellowy-green eyes (oddly feline, even in sunlight) widen at the sight within, and ultimately made her stop short several yards from the closest person, mouth slightly--only SLIGHTLY-agape.

Kalia turned, her silver hair falling in loose waves over her shoulders. She noted the necomer, and also noted the wide-eyed stare.

"You better becareful you don't attract flies" She said with a laugh in her voice and a wink.

"What brings you here?" She asked, her arms folding across her crystalline chestplate.

A girl named Shanah, also known as Avenging_Angel sat down at one of the round green tables at the cafe. She had short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a generous amount of freckles. She wore a pair of loose black shorts and a blue shirt that said "Drake University".

The girl unslung the blue backpack she wore, and took out her schoolbooks, spreading them over the table with a sigh.
She looked up.
"Hey, a newcomer actually came here! Maybe they'll post more then once."
She said to Kalia.

Night's mouth closed with a faint click, and her eyes flashed, but she--for once--took the smart way out by NOT going ballistic. She'd had her butt kicked too many times recently to forget that some people warranted respect, no matter how snippy they were.

Of course, not that she wouldn't have reacted the same way to someone acting like she just had, she reluctantly admitted to herself.

"I. Um." She lifted a fist to her mouth and cleared her throat, then tried again. "Right. Sorry. I asked someone out on the road there, and they said this was a Training place. It looks like a cut-out from a Peter Jackson movie, but hey. Am I in the right place?"

You'd think hooves the size of hubcaps would make SOME sort of sound as they hit the ground. You'd think that. Likely they would have, if the centaur was running. But he walked with the light, practiced grace of a forester--even if he DID have four hooves of the aforementioned size.
Viridian was, so far as he knew, the only person in the world who looked like him. Humans, he'd seen aplenty, but never another Centaurkin, of any shape. His horse-portion was bulky, Clydesdale-shaped, though his equine shoulder would only stand at an average human male's chest height. His coat was a chocolate brown color, darkening to black into the featherings that draped accross his hooves, and speckled with coppery spots the size and shape of large coins across his rump. The chocolate hide faded gradually up the human torso that rose above his forelegs into skin the same shade of copper as the dapples, covering muscles made tough by a lifetime of work, not for show. His hair and tail were absolutely black, and long, the tail brushing just slightly above the ground and the hair coming off his head much like a human's, then narrowing into a horse's mane down his spine to end a few inches along the equine portion of his back.
He carried saddle-bags, packed full, strapped carefully across his furry back, a longbow tucked in among them, and a quiver of grey-fletched arrows slung across his human shoulders. Dark leather cuffs reached from wrist to elbow, and aside from that, he wore nothing in the way of human garments.
His hovves today led him through the gates of a new place, as they so often did since the death of his Guardian, and as always the hope bubbled anew that maybe he'd find others like him... Or at least someone to talk to. The sign reading "Training Grounds" had a promising ring to it. There'd be at least SOMEONE here, familiar with the customs of the region, and maybe they could tell him something. Bouyed by that thought, he broke into a quick trot until he reached the courtyard, where he halted and made a bow, human torso bending over and a foreleg tucked in, to the women in his immediate sight.
"I am called Viridian," he said, his voice deep but soft. "I ask only a moment of your time, and a few answers, if such is within your power."

Airiana smiled at the two new arrivals, her silver eyes sparkling with good will. She nodded to the two of them, and as Kalia seemed to be taking care of the first, she went over to the centaur. "Good day, Viridian. I am Airiana; well met, sir. What questions hath thee? I may be able to help thee with thy endeavors..."

Night's mouth closed with a faint click, and her eyes flashed, but she--for once--took the smart way out by NOT going ballistic.

Shanah looked apologetic.
"Sorry. You've probably noticed that people posting here once and then leaving is pretty common. Didn't mean to be rude."
She slid her World History textbook and syllabus to the side, dragging a green lacquered metal chair up to the cafe table.
"Have a seat. I'm Shanah, aka. Angel. I've been RPing for a little over a year now, and I'd be more then happy to answer any questions you have, Miss-?"

Eliar appeared with a POOF!

"Ah well, I think I've been gone for long enough already. I'll be around to answer questions too." The spiky-haired mage said.

Straea's eyes widened in surprise.

"ELIAR!" she shrieked, and ran at him, catching him in her arms and hugging him tightly. "Oh, I've missed you so much!"

"Ouch." Eliar remarked.

Jack smiled at Eliar as he walked toward the more human newcomer.

"Peter Jackson movie? Sorry to ruin the mood, but I don't recall the hobbits ever encountering a dead hippie. Maybe I missed that scene. I'm Jack Bowman, pleased to meet you."

((OOC: I apologise for not posting since last week. My internet time is...how can I put this...terribly random. I got on Monday, but my comp would not load this page for no reason I could see. It would bring up EVERYTHING else, but not here, the ONE place I actually wanted. Why? The gods hate me, always have. Could not get on again until today. Forgive me.))

Viridian's eyes widened at the Lady's speech. It had been so long since he'd heard... His bow went deeper, before he rose, still staring, though trying to be less obvious about it. "Well met indeed, most fair one, " he replied, the measured cadences of the speech falling into place as easily as if he'd never stopped using it. Ah, Tacelon, he thought regretfully. And you said the Speech was dead in the world.
"Thou dost honor me with thy kind words, gracious Lady," he continued, subconsciously putting a hand to his chest--his human one. "I would ask merely the boon of thy advice, as to this place, for indeed I am newly arrived to this fair land. An it please thee, where should one such as I seek others, of my own kind perhaps, or would find news of such? And if there is naught of that in thy recollection, where, then, fair Lady, wouldst thou suggest I take myself to settle, as I am weary of travelling and wish to stay here awhile. I did spy myself a crossroads, paths leading to many places ((ie The Forums list, lol)), and was at a loss to choose one myself." He ran over that in his head one more time, and smiled to realize he hadn't lost the knack after these months without practice.
"I lay myself at the feet of thy goodwill,' he added as an afterthought.

Having lost interest, Kalia turned away and moved over towards Airiana...

"Who have you got here? hmmm? It is rare to see a centaur outside of Darken Wood. But then I've heard of a pair of unicorns who have managed to make their way out into the world."

Aeramae
11/05/2004 8:09 AM

"Oops, sorry," Straea said, releasing Eliar and backing up a step. "I've missed your spark so much though!"

She looked over at the centaur, and raised an eyebrow. Aria, Mae, and Aeramae joined the red-head and examined the centaur. The other three had never seen a creature like this before, and Straea hadn't seen many in person. It was truly a site to behold.

"Oh wow! I've not seen a centaur since... well, when I watched the Harry Potter movies!" Eliar said excitedly. "Hm. Are they centaurs in Krynn? Been living in the world for quite a while, but don't remember encountering any centaurs there."

Are they centaurs in Krynn? Been living in the world for quite a while, but don't remember encountering any centaurs there."

Shanah looked vaguely disgusted, and dug though her backpack, snagging a copy of Dragons of an Autumn Twilight.
"They live in Darken Wood, serving the Forestmaster."

A wolf is sprinting down a beaten path towards the Training Grounds, leaving a trail of dust leading back a quarter of a mile. The wolve's fur was so black it seems to negate the sun's rays.

As the wolf neared the Training Grounds he slowy begins to change form. Until he stands on two legs in the entrance. He is a mid sized man. Around six feet tall and two hundred pounds. His black hair was cut short and darker than the darkest night. He has a five o'clock shadow. His eyes resemebles those of a wolf. Hes wearing fur leggings and boots. He has a bow strung across his back and a short sword at his waist. He smiles wolfishly as he scans the crowd of would-be students.

He pushes his way through the crowd in hopes of finding a teacher, but having no luck. decides to rest. So, he scans the area for a suitable place to rest and finds it. A secluded corner shaded by a lone tree. He leans against the tree and drifted off, hoping a teacher finds him before the day is through.

OOC: This is my VERY first time Rp'ing. I just discovered this site by chance and thought id take a stab at it. Ill take w/e advice anyone might have for me. thank you. -Fjolnir-

Airiana
11/05/2004 10:56 PM

Airiana smiled, crimson lips parting to show pearly white teeth. "`Tis been such a long time since I hast conversed with one of thy kindred that I had all but forgotten thy kind still didst use the Old Tongue. A wonderful thing to hear coming from the lips of another kindred rather than my own. But I digress, I fear.

"Centaurs have made themselves scarce to all but the Darken Woods of Krynn (in Dragonlance), it seems... though thou mightest find them more readily in the worlds beyond (General Roleplaying). Thou art welcome to settle where ever thy hearts (Centaurs have two, don't they?) shouldst find content. Or perhaps, if thou shouldst so choose, wander betwixt the worlds thou didst glance upon at the crossroads. Above all, find a place or places that set thy mind at ease." She smiled again, making a slight bow to the centaur.

When Kalia spoke, Airiana turned her head. "I am not sure... he has thus far not told me the name by which he is called..." She turned her head to face the centaur again. "Noble sir, mightest thou impart upon mineself thy name?"

Well, he was the center of attention, wasn't he? This was a new--and, he thought--not especially comfortable experience for him. He had, after all, lived in The Cabin--even now, he capitalized the words in his mind--with his Guardian his whole life. His dark tail swished a bit, the only outward sign of his nervousness, but even that stopped as he listened raptly to their words.
"It...you..." He lost all sign of the High Speech in his surprise. "You know where I might..." Alright, they were trying to help, it did no good to be rude to them. He stopped, lifting a calloused hand to his mouth and coughing into it to give himself a second to compose himself. "I apologise. My Guardian named me Viridian, with his surname Callais that I took for my own, since he was much as a father to me. I am...at a loss, to be truthful. I hath never, well... It pains me to admit this, gentlepeople, but I hath been raised by a Human mage, and have yet to meet any of mine own kind. After his...passage, I hoped to find more of my kind that I might learn the ways I hath been deprived of my whole life. Tell me, prithee, again, what place is it that thou knowest of that I might have a chance of finding them. I would be...well, I know nothing in my posession that would be worthy of such kindness. I could only give thee my word of honor that anything in my power, shouldst thou need it, will be thine, if only thou asketh it."

Kalia_Majere
11/06/2004 8:33 AM

Kalia thought his question over for a moment, then nodded. "I can take you... Darken wood isn't always friendly to strangers, but I am in good standing with the Forestmaster. I can fly on ahead, and you can follow... I can see the terrain much better in the air than on the ground...and most wouldn't want to fight with me anyway..."

A secluded corner shaded by a lone tree. He leans against the tree and drifted off, hoping a teacher finds him before the day is through.

Shanah noticed a man sitting by a tree, with a lost look on his face.
She walked over.
"You need a teacher?"

Aeramae
11/07/2004 5:50 AM

Aria joined Shanah and the newcomer by the tree. She peered at the man and smiled.

"Well, I've never known one of your kind who could change their clothing into fur and vice versa," she said.

Fjolnir

Aeramae
11/07/2004 4:14 PM

"How original," Aria muttered, lifting an eyebrow. "I assume you are addressing Shana as far as the teacher thing goes?"

The vampiress looked over at the human woman, and raised her eyebrow again, in mute question. Are you going to teach him? That was the question that she tried to get across, but didn't know if she would be successful. It had been awhile, a long while, since she had tried using her telepathic skills. She only hoped it worked.

Avenging_Angel
11/07/2004 5:40 PM

Shanah jumped as Aria's voice intruded on her thoughts.

Are you going to teach him?

"Yeah-Uh, I mean, nice to meet you, Lycan."
"So, here are some basics."
"You seem to be off on the right foot-which is good. Really good. You seem to have OOC and IC, Out Of Character and In Character well understood. In fact, the only thing I can find with your posts, is your use of tense. You seem to be posting in present tense, "He admires" "He walks". I would personally suggest writing in past tense, since its easier in the long run. Instead of "He admires" and "He walks" try "He admired" and "He walked"."
"Honestly, you're really good already-I'd reccomend heading over to Fernwood Village II, in the Dragonlance Role-playing forum. It's made for people to sharpen their RPing skills, and it doesn't matter if you have no idea what Dragonlance is-anything can happen in Fernwood."

"And, remember, the most important-always have fun!!"
