The man stood before the cave wearing his blue coat. His face was dark with worry, but he knew that if anything could solve the riddle, the creatures within could. He lifted his face and called out to the cave's inhabitants.

"Crystalamira! Navare! It is Timesplit. I need to speak with you." The man called. "Are you there?"

A deep rumbling could be heard from within the cavern, and a bit of glittering crystal shifted away from equally glittering crystalline wall. "Oh do tell the human to leave me be...." Rumbled a deep voice.

Glimmer woke and nipped at Navare's shoulder in chastizement. "Silly Sod... I'll do no such thing." She grumbled, and untangled herself from Navare's sprawled form. "Lazy Wyrm" She chuckled and moved towards the cavern's enterance.

"Well Timesplit! Old friend... What brings you here?" She asked as she folded her wings against her back.

“I’m afraid it’s some bad news. Navare will probably want to hear this too, and we can decide who else needs to know afterwards.”

The planewalker waited a moment. Although he couldn’t be sure of what Navare was doing, he was fairly certain it could hear him anyways.

“Now down to business. I'm sure you know that I travel to other planes of existence. I recently returned from a series of trips, which eventually led me to my home planet. While there, I ran into my brother, who we had believed dead for many years (OOC: Recall the thread, "Serpent Feather"). There are many dark powers in this multiverse, and I discovered that two of those powers have united now. Their attention is currently elsewhere, on a plane known as Dominaria, but it will soon be drawn to here.”

“It turns out they somehow resurrected my brother and were controlling him, and caused him to attack me. In the end, I managed to stop him, and he told me some of what he learned while under their control. These dark forces are powerful enough to defeat even me, and he knew this. He tried to tell me where I could find help, but didn’t have time to finish. What he said was ‘Go to her. Tell her what is happening. She will know what to do, and how to stop him. He knows my thoughts, so I can’t tell any more. Just that she will lead you to the one who can stop this.’ From other things he said, I believe the ‘he’ is a being named Yawgmoth, the leader of one of the two dark forces. It could also be Verjigorm, the leader of the other force.”

“Where I need your help, is finding out who the ‘her’ is, and how I could possibly contact her. Aside from that, I need to know who you think we should warn. While I do not expect the attack to be within the lifespan of the mortals here now, I do expect it to be within the next 500 to 1000 years.”

The deep rumbling repeated itself at the mention of Navare's name, and he stirred again. "Alright..." Standing, he shook the dust from his glossy, black wings and moved to stand next to his mate. "So we have to find this person for you?" He grumbled, his amber eyes half closed.

"We'll do what we can to help of course...though I am unsure of where to start." Glimmer said, tapping her claws against the crystal strewn stone. "As far as warning... perhaps we should warn the longest living creatures of our world... such as the metalics who live on the dragon Isles... and even the forestmaster.. she must be told of this."

She stretched her wings and arched her neck. "It's just a matter of where you would like to go first..."

"Yes, the other dragons would be a good place to start then. Maybe they can figure out who 'she' is."

"The Isles it is.... you'll have to ride, you won't get through the veil otherwise..." Glimmer said, lowering one wing to make it easier for the planar traveler to climb up. "Perhaps we'll run into Airiana... she may have some insight as well..." She mused, as she turned her gaze northward.

"Let's hope so." Timesplit said as climbed onto the dragon with practiced ease. His adventures with J'mes and Sarumth had made him comfortable enough on a dragon, though he had nowhere near the connection nor skill that J'mes did.

Glimmer balanced easily on the edge of the stone shelf that was just outside of the lair, overlooking a steep gorge that would give her an easy launch. Spreading her wide feathered wings, she lept into the open space, and caught the thermals that were rising from the valley below.

waiting for a moment, Navare followed grudgingly... and the pair circled high before banking and heading northward....

Airiana
04/14/2004 1:07 PM

Airiana looked off across the waters at the Dragon Isles. It was a most beauteous place, as her memory reminded her, but it was also one where she was not entirely approved of, or welcomed, for that matter. Thus her visits were very few and far between, and as such she could count the number of times she'd been on the Dragon Isles on one taloned hand since she'd been old and strong enough to fly away from the place.

But ever so often, she flew to one of the neighboring islands that were not considered a part of the Isles and looked at the first place she'd even known as "Home". She stretched out on the beach, her neck and tail both as flat as possible on the warm sand. She would have looked an amusing sight had any been around to see her; her hind legs stretched to their limit alongside her tail and her forelegs along her neck, wings spread as wide as they could go. Each part of her body soaking up as much sun as possible.

She had planned to actually visit her old homeland, and had decided to get as much peace as she could on the nearest deserted island before doing so.

Hours later, the trio was flying over the sea north of Palanthas, and there ahead of them were the isles... Navarre flew at Glimmer’s right, his head even with her wings, keeping pace with her wing-beat for wing-beat.

“There it is... and in a moment the veil will be visible.” Glimmer shouted over the rushing wind. Sure enough, the moment the words left her mouth, a shimmering shield appeared around the islands. Spreading her wings to the fullest, Glimmer banked to the west, circling the veil and the isles, till one of the larger could be seen.

“We call that one “Winged Majesty” and thus is the main Isle were the metalics reside... They hold their council meetings and such there.” Glimmer folded her wings a bit, and angled towards the Isle below, passing through the Veil with no difficulty... Navarre following in her wake. Below them buildings could now be seen. Golden visages accented with silver and gems, crystal paths and towers.

“Our histories tell us that the gold patriarch, Aurican had learned such craft from the first elves, even Silvanos himself.” She said as she scouted the island below... She banked a little to the east and north a bit, and spotted one of the smaller uninhabited islands below.

A shimmer of silvery red caught her eye, and she dipped lower to investigate...hoping it was who she thought.

She banked a little to the east and north a bit, and spotted one of the smaller uninhabited islands below.

A shimmer of silvery red caught her eye, and she dipped lower to investigate...hoping it was who she thought.

Airiana had just opened her eyes again, looking at the main island and was about to depart for it when she saw two incoming dragon-shapes in the sky. She looked towards them, narrowing her silver eyes to slits to keep out the sun, and smiled when she saw two crystalline shimmers; one light and one dark.

"Crystalamira!" She roared, smiling towards them. "Navare! What brings thee two back to the Homeland?"

Kalia_Majere
04/16/2004 1:01 PM

Navare snorted, disdain obvious in his posture as they landed, though he refrained from speaking. Glimmer only shot him a glance of warning and turned back to her old friend.

"Airiana, it is good to see you again. We are here of some importance, and I believe that it should fall to our friend here to explain..." She said, turning her head towards Timesplit.

Airiana
04/17/2004 7:21 AM

Airiana noted Navare's posture but pointedly ignored it; she and the black crystalline dragon merely tolerated each other for Crystalamira's sake, and both of them knew it. Even the dragoness's posture showed that she was pointedly ignoring him in favor of his mate.

"Airiana, it is good to see you again. We are here of some importance, and I believe that it should fall to our friend here to explain..." She said, turning her head towards Timesplit.

Airiana nodded her head and looked at Timesplit, seeing him for the first time. "Well, how art thou, Time? It has been many seasons since last I saw thee... tell me, what brings thee to the Dragon Isles?"

thistledown
04/17/2004 8:57 AM

"A mystery of some importance, I'm afraid." Timesplit replied. He repeated the story to Airiana that he had told Glimmer.

"So you see, we need to figure out who the "her" is, and how to contact her. Crystalamira recomended we come to the dragonisles to ask for help. We also need to decide who else to warn. We don't want to start a panic over something that may happen in 500 to 1000 years."

Airiana
04/17/2004 2:05 PM

Airiana listened quietly as Timesplit told his tale, nodding her head. "Well, who is a female that your brother and you both know of with some power? Does he know our Crystalamira? It is quite possible that he speaks of her if this is so... she is, after all," the dragoness said with a reptilian grin, "leading thee to those who could help." She offered, otherwise needing to think the matter over. "I would think that only the long-lived races should be warned... they will not be nearly as threatened by this as the others. In such, I believe that the other dragons, the elves, and mayhap the irda be told... as for the others, I am unsure; they could of course be told when the event is much nearer than it is now."

"Well, who is a female that your brother and you both know of with some power? Does he know our Crystalamira?

"I doubt it." The planewalker answered. "Though it is possible. He and I were seperated for many years. I discovered him in a hidden valley a few years ago. Some mages had attacked the city and while he managed to stop some of them, he was killed in the process. He died shortly after I arrived. How the dark forces recovered his body and brought him back, I'm not sure."

"He and I were both pupils of the Elemental Mythran. But while Mythran focused my education in magical means of Aether manipulation, he tutored Jim in technological means of the same field. We had a falling out and both of us left Mythran, and I have no idea where or when he went between then and when I found him in the valley."

"I would try and contact Mythran, but I haven't been able to since I left his study all those years ago. As to females with power, while both of you are considerable, I don't think that's what Jim meant. I could tell that he knew who it was, but couldn't even think of telling me, or the dark forces would read his mind and find her.

"As to women with power, besides you two, the Lady Mirror springs to mind. And Stacey, from one of the earth worlds, has great potential. But I don't think it's either of them, nor could I contact them easily. While I could travel back to before the last contact I had with a person, it makes the contacts I have with them later in their life but earlier than mine, ... uncomfortable, to say the least."

"I would think that only the long-lived races should be warned... they will not be nearly as threatened by this as the others. In such, I believe that the other dragons, the elves, and mayhap the irda be told... as for the others, I am unsure; they could of course be told when the event is much nearer than it is now."

"In the ancient civilizations of the native plane of one of the dark forces - the Horrors, as they are called by the other natives of that plane; the humans and other races would build huge underground cities, called Kaer's, to hide the population away until the Horrors passed on. These cities would be similar to your dwarven cities, but further strenghtend by magic wards to keep out spirits. I don't know if they would be effective this time, and even there, only about half survived intact, but it's a possible course of action."

"If we figure out who we're suppose to meet with, we may be able to avoid meeting with the others, but yes, the elder races would be a good start." Timesplit ended. "Even with my skills, I'm still just a visitor here, perhaps it would be better if one of you arranged a meeting with the elders and any others you think should know. We can let them know whats happening, and maybe one of them will know who our mystery girl is."

"Well, no problem there, I've been in contact with the leader of the dragons since we passed through the veil... my old teacher, the Gold Auracania is wating for us at Winged Majesty... Though I'll have to admit, I am thuroughly puzzled by who this "She" is..."

Airiana
04/18/2004 12:38 PM

Airiana nodded her head. "The elders of the elves I could certainly contact and inform them of this matter, once we've left the Isles, I have always had a soft spot for their particular race, and it seems that the feeling is mutual, though they have an obvious distaste for most other hybrids." She said, nodding her head and making a mental note to remind her to contact the elven elders once this ordeal was over with.

The dragoness grimaced a moment at the mention of Auracania's name, but shook it off. The last time she'd spoken with the Gold, she and the other elder dragons had been a bit miffed with the hybrid dragoness to say the least, but she hoped that time had healed that wound as it had so many others.

She sighed and stretched her wings. "Well, let us be off to speak with them, then... they certainly do not like to be kept waiting..." She said before stepping away from the trio and leaping into the sky, trying to avoid knocking Timesplit over with the force of her takeoff. Leathery wings creaked with the force of each wingbeat as she gained altitude and waited for the others.

Arriving at Winged Majesty, Timesplit informed Auracania of the situation, then let the dragons do the rest of the talking and waited for the meeting to convene.

Timesplit also decided to ask the dragons to bring in anybody else they felt should have a say in this meeting, or at least be informed.

"I hope this is important enough for me to lift a finger," commented Karina, appearing from almost no where, "I am quite busy with other things. What is so important for me to appear in the Dragon isles, Crystalamira?" She smirked faintly at the crystal dragon, the emnity between them evident, "I hope it is VERY important, or else myself, nor my mother, will be very happy..."

04/27/2004 6:54 PM

"The last thing I ever want." Timesplit said as he walked into the room. "Is to waste time."

He turned to Eswiftire and Karina, and to the others who had arrived. (Others, as in, anybody who want to join the thread later is already here.) "Thank you for coming. It is indeed an important matter, although if we are successfull today, I belive we can avert the danger."

"As I have already informed the dragons here, I discovered a great many things on my recent journey. The most important of which is that two dark powers have united, and are planning to attack Krynn. The attack will not come for quite some time, but unless we act now to stop it, it will succeed."

"In my travels, I also discovered a source of hope." He continued. "My informant was being monitered, so he could not tell me directly, but he hinted at a solution. He told me to 'Go to her. Tell her what is happening. She will know what to do, and how to stop him. He knows my thoughts, so I can’t tell any more. Just that she will lead you to the one who can stop this.'"

"Unfortunetly, I have no idea who this 'her' is. Glimmer has given some ideas, but I do not think them likely. Do you have any ideas?"

eswiftfire
04/28/2004 1:13 AM

"Queen Takky?" Eliar suggested. "Unless one of the dark powers is her..."

thistledown
04/28/2004 7:26 AM

"Takhisis?" Timesplit repeated. "No, she is not one of the powers. Hmmm, I had not considered the gods of this planet, but not a bad idea. But actually, I expect her to try and ally herself with the dark forces when they arrive, then be overwhelmed by them after. She would also do it herself, not lead us to somebody who could stop it."

(OOC: You're on the right track. Sort of.)

PrincessOfDarkness
04/28/2004 8:06 AM

"What about the Forestmaster? I'd say they're very knowledgable on the sake of wise things. Given fact they have been around for quite a time of Krynn's existance. If not, Zivilyn, of the Past, Present and Future if we still talk gods, may be the way to go. Perhaps Astinus?" She shrugged her black-robed shoulders, "There are many sagely beings on Krynn, we could go to every one of them if we have that sort of time."

Aeramae
04/28/2004 8:13 AM

"I'm not sure that Astinus would help us with this," Straea said, stepping forward from the corner she had been sitting in. "If it is a god, then wouldn't he remain neutral in this?"

The red robed mage smiled at all in the room, and gave Eliar a brief hug. It had been a long time since she had seen him. The others were new to her, but at least there was one person she knew.

"I'm Straea by the way," she said. "You may have heard about me. Don't let my past scare you, I've changed alot."

She looked around at the others once more, serious now. At least two people in here felt...strange, almost otherworldly. She wondered who they were.

thistledown
04/28/2004 11:32 AM

"While the Forestmaster and dragons will be extremely helpful in planing and staging our defence should we fail to find 'her,' their knowledge is limited to this planet, extensive as it is. I'm sorry I wasn't more clear before. This threat is from another plane, two in fact, and is currently busy elsewhere but will turn its attention here when it is done. Zivilyn could be useful in finding 'her' - we really should think of something to call her for now. Anyways, do any of you have a way to contact Zivilyn? I don't know how helpful he'd be, but its worth a shot."

"I'm not sure that Astinus would help us with this," Straea said, stepping forward from the corner she had been sitting in. "If it is a god, then wouldn't he remain neutral in this?"

"I'm not so sure. Though I have only rarely met him, I belive his attempts at balance pertain to the politics of the planet and its gods. These forces are from outside, and know nothing of the balance and will not care about it. However, I think this may prove outside of his sphere of knowledge, as it deals with the planes and not the planet."

PrincessOfDarkness
04/28/2004 1:36 PM

"if we could contact Tahkisis, as Eliar suggested, there would be no difference in contacting Zivilyn..or at least that is how it woul s seem to me. I suppose i could always ask a favor of my Mother or half-brother, if worst comes to worse. As for Astinus," Karina brushed a black hair to behind a slightly pointed, grey-skinned ear, "he is known for knowing everything there is to know. If he does not know, at least he has pointed us in the direction that it is far more then anything Krynnish." She shrugged, "Or at least, that is how it seems..."

eswiftfire
04/29/2004 3:59 AM

"I'm Straea by the way," she said. "You may have heard about me. Don't let my past scare you, I've changed alot."

"Heeeeeeee! Why change?" Eliar asked. Then turning back to the group. "Oh, well, you can always look for legendary people instead. Like Goldmoon or Crysania. Haha. But I would rather look for Takky!"

Rokangus
05/04/2004 6:50 PM

An aged copper dragon arrived at the gathering, alighting somewhat clumisily with weather-worn wings. He introduced himself as Kriloth.

"What is the meaning of so many powerful beings gathering here amongst my kind," the ancient beast grated, "Such meetings are rare even in my memory."

Kriloth listened as Timesplit related his tale and told the dragon of the riddle he had recieved from his brother.

"Hrrrmmm...rather vague clue, planeswalker," Kriloth rumbled slowly, "You search for a 'she'? A female of great power, I suppose." At this point, Kriloth paused to stretch his neck, crackling a few vertebrae. After some consideration, the dragon continued, "There is only one female that I know of, who might be the one you seek."

"She was a powerful Earth Elemental...last I heard of her she was involved in some sort of battle between elementalists and the sort," Kriloth snorted, "Hrmm, funny...I can't remember her name precisely...it was quite some time ago...could she be the one you seek, planeswalker?"

thistledown
05/05/2004 11:21 AM

Timesplit thought for a while. "The only elemental I've met is my former master, the Aether Elemental, Mythran. I haven't been able to get a hold of him for a long time though." Timesplit's face darkend. "Although he would be able to stop the Horrors if he's still around. But it's as if he's disapeared entirely."

thistledown
05/05/2004 7:09 PM

"A battle between elementalists. Hmmm." Timesplit said to himself. *Is it posible Mythran fell in the conflict? No. He would have forseen that and avoided it.* Timesplit turned back to the dragon. "And you have not been able to get ahold of the earth elemental since that battle?"

Timesplit strained to remember the lessons of his master. He began to recite to himself the elemental lords Mythran had told him about. "Wind Screamer, of air. Aqualitara, of water. Drake, of fire. Mythran, of Aether. Lyra, of dust. Lia, of earth." He turned again to the dragon. "Lia, was that her name?"

Rokangus
05/05/2004 8:10 PM

Kriloth blinked and craned his head. "Lia...yes, Lady Lia of earth! That was what she was called!"

The copper dragon bowed his head to Timesplit. "I thank you, planeswalker for reminding me. It has been too long since I have thought of the Lady Lia, though I have never been at ease with her unexplained absence."

After a moment, Kriloth added, "Is it not strange that your teacher, also an elemental lord in his own right, has not been seen nor heard of for quite some time? Do you know if your Master, Mythran, was involved in the battle of which I spoke? It seems an odd coincidence...do you not also think so, planeswalker?"

thistledown
05/05/2004 11:15 PM

"Yes, very strange. I wonder what the results of that battle were." Timesplit turned to address the rest of the group. "Have any of you heard from any of the elementals recently?"

Aeramae
05/07/2004 9:37 AM

"No, I haven't heard anything about any elementals," Straea said. "And I do keep tabs on everything that interests me. Do you suppose they're up to something...bad?"

PrincessOfDarkness
05/07/2004 12:18 PM

"I do not talk to creatures such as elementals, I find they speak in too many riddles and puzzles and things that do not concern me, besides, they can be quite stupid on occasion, thought not all of them, of course." Karina commented with a scowl.

Airiana
05/08/2004 7:45 PM

Airiana had kept quiet, listening to the others, and trying to keep out of the other metallic dragons' view as much as possible. But when the elementals were mentioned she frowned slightly. "Hmm... that is odd... I too have not heard from the elementals. Though truth be told, I know only Minoa, Lord of Shadows, and Reiha, Lady of Light... and their daughter Areikne... but I haven't heard from any of them in quite some time."

05/09/2004 6:53 PM

"Her name is Reiha, Kiriairiandrasilvantasilik (i spelled that off the top of my head), and her father, Lir, is an elemental as well," Karina coorrected, "As is Minoa's former master, Aryan, but he will not prove much use to us, given the fact he was shredded to eeny beeny shadow bits...and Minoa is bound with some idiot human girl.....it seems we are quite at loss for elementals as of late..."

05/14/2004 8:37 AM
