Welcome to the Eswifty thread!
This thread is the only thread where you can talk about non-RP stuff. This is made for RPers to easily stay within the forum for easy access for general discussions.

Those quizzes were great.
I have an animal soul, apparently.
A white dragon resides within my soul.
My element is the guiding light of fire.
I'm the god Morpheus (That seems to be a popular one).
I am a phoenix for the magic creatures one.
The pictures for that angel one were fantastic-I'm a magical angel.
I'm a human shadow.

Oh yeah, for all the quizzes that I took but didn't post before... :
Element:

You have a strong, independent, fiery personality and you obviously don't let other's push you around. You like being in charge and don't care what other people think. In fact, you like to stand out and be yourself. You're probably shy when people first meet you but youre a ball of energy that could explode at any given moment. You like to laugh and whether you admit it or not, you like to fight. You're personality that is wild and untamable. You're beauty is physically fit and a little sexy and you have a very pretty face.

All righty, let's plot, um... how are we going to get more new members to RPGC (or rather, the RPG forums). Seems that we only get 1-2 every few weeks, not a lot, actually.
It's rather difficult if we look for FR and DL fans only, since they have plently of alternatives.

Haha, well, here's what I did, I've actually joined this mailing list dedicated for Engel fans (originally a German RPG, I heard) cos' I read the sourcebook and it's pretty damned interesting.
From what I know, the game system ain't too good, but I really really liked the settings (takes place five-six hundred years from now, when almost everything had been wiped out by a massive plague, tornados of flames, huge massive flood etc etc). So I'm currently trying to convince some of the people to come over to the General RPG section.
I've recently (just a few nights ago) resigned from my post as Editor-in-Chief at this local anime convention (the one which I served as emcee last December). Not just that, but I've actually left their forum too (well, soon anyway, I'm picking April 1). So I'll be able to focus more on RPGC, my own Jpop/Jrock mailing list and of course, my awesome site. (besides, I didn't exactly leave in good terms, I'll show y'all what exactly happened between me and the committee someday, saved the posts already.)

If John Woo messes up, I'll kill him. Super Metroid was one of my fave SNES games (along with Chrono Trigger and FF3/6j).
Hell, this might become another Tomb Raider movie. Well, difference is, the chick's gonna wear an armour.
Bah. Samus >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lara Croft
===========================
Woo's Next Target: "Metroid"
Wednesday April 7 5:00 PM ET
Who knew John Woo was such a gamer?
The acclaimed action director, best known in America for helming high-octane flicks like Face/Off, Mission Impossible 2 and the recently released Paycheck, is joining forces with Nintendo to adapt its best-selling Metroid video game franchise to the big screen.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Woo's production company, Tiger Hill Entertainment, has optioned the film rights and plans to mount Metroid as a potential blockbuster release for 2006.
Metroid is perhaps Nintendo's most popular video game to come down the pike after Super Mario Bros. Like Tomb Raider, Metroid's story focuses on a female protagonist--in this case, sexy bounty hunter Samus Aran and her epic battles against the life-sucking Metroids and their master, Mother Brain, for control of the galaxy.
There are currently seven Metroid video game adventures on store shelves with cumulative worldwide sales topping $12 million. An eighth, Metroid Prime 2, is scheduled for release for Nintendo's GameCube platform in November.
For the movie version, Woo plans to produce and direct a mega-budgeted space spectacle that will remain true to the suspense and mystery of the series, while simultaneously satisfying both gamers and the general public alike.
"We are very fortunate that there is such an extensive amount of material to draw upon for the film due to there being so many iterations of the game over the years," Woo told the Reporter.
The movie will also follow the well-worn path Hollywood has taken in adapting a comic book or video game by familiarizing lay people with the hero's origins.
"We have to assume the mainstream audience is unfamiliar with the property," Brad Foxhoven, president of Tiger Hill and a producer on the movie, told the Reporter. "As for the rest of the film, we will stay true to the game."
Fans of Woo may be surprised to learn that he and his Tiger Hill banner are already in the gaming business. The company is in the middle of developing three original video titles that will utilize the voice and image of a number of Hollywood actors. The auteur, who back in his native Hong Kong was famed for such shoot 'em up cult classics as The Killer, Hardboiled and A Better Tomorrow, will oversee the game's schematic designs as well as motion capture and characters. The first title is due to hit stores in late 2005 with two more set for release in 2006.
If all goes well, a Metroid movie, budgeted at well over $100 million, could be in theaters as early as 2006.

Woo-who! I'm up to 37 downloads on my new music video. My second video so far, although I'm getting the hang of it a bit better now so you can expect more in the future. You can find it at:

Hey, I didn't know you're a member there! Haha, I've been downloading AMVs too.
But then, I don't know whether I can download local files right now. Need to wait for another week, I think.

For the best few months I've just been getting everything that sounds good as it comes out, but I've still got a lot of backlog to go through. BTY I think all the ones on those websites you listed are on the org as well.

ERROR: You are not allowed to download videos.
There is a two week probation period for local downloads for new members. There are a few reasons for this:
1. It is the policy of this site that a member should have only one site account. It is the hope that given a two week local download probationary period, you will be more likely to try to keep your old account in good order instead of just creating a new account whenever you feel like it.
2. The probation is also to keep people from pledging, defaulting on their pledge, and then getting a new account to download vids. New members who donate will have this probationary period waived and may download as soon as the donation is received.
In the mean time, you are welcome to download vids using "direct" and "indirect" links.
Your registration date was Apr 04, 2004 07:04. You should have download privileges on or about Apr 18, 2004 07:04. Sorry for the delay.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd drop in to let y'all know I'm still kickin' around. :D
Reni's adorable Kalia. Glad to hear she's doing so well.
As for what I'm reading, although I have many on my To Read List, I actually haven't been doing much reading lately. Which is strange for me. But with the combination of still feeling kind of draggy and sore, as well as being busy in RL offline, I haven't really had the time or the desire to sit down with a book. But I may have one on loan from a friend on Sunday. A Dragonlance one that has been out for awhile, but I just remembered I wanted to read: Redemption. Strike one book off my list. :)
What I need is a nice liesurely trip to Chapters so I can refresh my reading material.

Hello all, hows everyone? I am about to begin read the book: Eragon by Christopher Paolini. The book was sugested to me by a friend and I know little about it asibe from the fact it a fantasy book and having something to do with dragons. I was told it's really good and since I dont have much else to do I thought I would read it when not at school or work. I would also like to begin reading the first book in the new Warcraft: War of the Ancients series, Well of Eternity. Being a Blizzard fanatic I should enjoy that. Also, for my recently past birthday I recived FFXI. Any opinions on it? I read a little bit about it am I'm still not sure what to make of it.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
(NOTE: While I will continue to address questions here as they are submitted
through the website, I am more closely monitoring â and responding more
quickly to â the Bronze Canticles Message Board. Join us there at

quicker response.)
Robin wants to know:
I was wondering if Raistlin and Caramon were fraternal or identical twins, since
they are constantly having to tell people that they *are* twins (even before
Raist took the test). Also, I was wondering the correct pronunciation of
Raistlin. I have heard it said every way concievable (Long a, short a, emphasis
on the first syllable, last syllable, ect).
(TRH) I believe they were fraternal twins but then I figure I have a 50% chance
of being proven wrong on this. As for correct pronunciation, I've always
thought it rhymed well with 'waste-lynn.' The truth is that I believe
however you hear it in your head is, for your incarnation of the world, the
correct pronunciation.
Dave from England asks:
Hi there from England. I am still a great fan of all your books and now have a
copy of all that have been printed so far, but my question relates to an event
that took place back in the depths of time around 1999, I think. To make some
space at home, you auctioned off some of the items you had collected over the
years and I was lucky enough to purchase off you the Dragonlance Board
Game,(which is still in Pristine condition depite being used quite a bit!!) My
question is merely will you be doing this again, as I would love to collect some
more of your autographed Dragonlance memorabilia, to eventually pass onto my
children, when they are old enough to start reading your books (They are
developing a keen taste in fantasy, courtesy of Lord Of The rings!!)
(TRH) As soon as I get finished with this Bronze Canticles II manuscript, I
intend to clean out my storage unit. You can count on a sale taking place then!
Chris asks:
Who are some of your favourite authors writing fantasy or any other genres?
(TRH) Stephen King, Stephen Hawking, Steven Ambrose ... wait, I seem to be
stuck. I prefer to read histories, biographies and popular science books as well
as works on story theory. I have a hard time reading other people's fantasy
books due to an unfortunate inbred genetic drive to edit and fix fantasy stories
no matter how well written. I get to page three or four and start figuring out
how I would have done it differently. It's a bad way to enjoy a book.
Brad wants to know:
I am sort of new to the dragonlance books. I was wondering were I can get a
list of were to start reading and what order to follow. I would be greatful for
some information.
(TRH) I would recommend starting with Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy, then
reading the Dragonlance Legends trilogy. After that, you should have a pretty
good idea where you would like to go in the other stories.
Andrew asks a great question:
You are a man of strong religious convictions, why else would you dedicate an
entire page of your website to your faith? (The story about how Ms. Curtis was
waiting for you at the airport when you returned home is really sweet by the
way.) You are also, as I have gathered from your newsletters, a strong advocate
of science and space exploration in all its forms. But religion and science
seldom mix well and I would like to know how you incorporate the two into your
life? How do you tackle such issues as science saying the universe was created
13 billion years ago and the bible saying the universe was created only a few
thousand years ago?
(TRH) It is a central tenant of my faith that there is, ultimately, no
difference between science and religion; that no such conflict exists EXCEPT in
the minds of men. Centuries ago, men believed the world was flat â their
believing it, of course, did not make it so; only their perception. Later they
learned that the earth was a globe â but they believed that globe to be the
center of the universe. It was not so, but the truth of it had not yet been
discovered. I believe it is also true of our faith; that we all are learning and
growing in our understanding of our relationship to God. Our perception of that
relationship may change; though God never does. I believe there is much about
science that we do not yet understand â but hope to one day. I believe there
is much of God that we do not yet understand â but hope to one day. I believe
that truth â ALL truth â is the province of God and that includes science.
When we come to actually and fully understand all science and actually and fully
understand God, I believe we will find that there is no conflict between them at
all.
Kyle is curious about:
Did you ever consider writing for the Legends collections of short stories? I
always felt that you and your co-authors' work was a gaping hole in what is
heralded as a definitive collection of fantasy. I for one would have loved to
see a short story in any of your universes (altho probably would have liked it
the most in the Death Gate Cycle universe)
Justin wants to know:
Have you thought about making more dragonlance books post War of Souls? It seems
that without the main gods of good and evil that there would be plenty of
stories that could be told with a new band of adventures. I mean no characters
will probably ever be as cool as Raistlin, Tass, or Tanis but hey you could try!
(TRH) Laura and I are considering writing a Dragonlance novel although it is all
very tentative. We have so much else to explore at the moment! We would like to
write such a book someday; weâll see if the opportunity presents itself.

You know, it's kind of funny that Hickman says that he can't read fantasy novels without thinking of ways he could make them "better". I mean, seriously, this coming from a man who himself seems to get into a rut with ALOT of things.

You saw the Texas Chainsaw remake kitten? I saw that too and while I found it fairly disturbing in areas, I could watch it where I know that many of my friends couldn't stand the film in places (too graphic)... I got the feeling that the film tired to be disturbing rather than tell a decent story but then what do you really expect from Hollywood horror films the last decade? Or most Hollywood fims in general.... I was compiling a list of console RPGs I've completed during the past 10 years (yep, a decade of excellence), and realized that there were 24 RPGs (4 for SNES, 3 for PS2 and 17 for PS1). Hm... this means I've completed an average of 2.4 RPGs per year, but then, on 2004 itself, I've managed to finish 3 RPGs in three consecutive months (FFX, FFX-2 and Kingdom Hearts) and I realized that if I could keep this up, I could actually bring my total up to 30, meaning that my average RPG per year is 3!! Of course, this is pretty damned insane, and I doubt I have the time or the chance to actually achieve it.
I'll be putting up the list on my site soon, with some short info/review/thoughts about it. Look out for it!
(Oh, and I've excluded the two Game Boy RPGs I've completed, which are Zelda: Link's Awakening and Final Fantasy Legends 3. And Seiken Densetsu 3, which was played using an emulator.)

Yeah. I would want to live a life like this. Become an author, churn out a few good books, and then, when everyone's starting to compare me with Tolkien, I'll start to write all sorts of crap. After all, I'll still make millions. Heck, my fans will still love me even if the entire book's about the hero going to the dump.

Thats my dream. Actually, I plan on skipping the crappy part altogether(ideally) and devoting the rest of my time to writing crappy yaoi fanfiction.
Wheel of Time-I've never read it, but my sister did. I think she stopped reading around the fifth book mainly because she couldn't relate to the characters anymore.

Hey there is nothing wrong with the Wheel of Time series and one could hardly say that they are not a good series of novels. Sure the pacing changes after the sixth novel but then so does the scope of the story...
Personally I thought they were some of the best fantasy novels around, along with Song of Fire and Ice by George R Martin. I guess each to their own...

Hrm... here's what I got:
You are:
A PRAT
for wasting a few precious, precious minutes of your life completing this asinine quiz, minutes which could have been spent painting a masterpiece, healing a wounded soldier, or picking flowers to make an attractive and colourful arrangement for your sweetheart.
......And since I didn't know what that word meant, I went over to Dictionary.com (http://www.dictionary.com/" target="_blank) and looked it up. *Hangs head* Here's what it means...
n. Slang. : the fleshy part of the human body that you sit on; the buttocks.
