OOC: Imagine a world like the Medieval Ages. That’s where you can start off. Other than that let the imaginations run. I’m not looking for a lengthy post, nor a short one either. :)

IC: The ship was steered slowly into harbor, a blaring sound indicating its triumphant arrival. The mast was lowered, and the sailors moved about in good spirits to get the cargo unloaded, the sun beating fursiously upon their backs.

Leda peered through the veils that traverse her face, revealing only the startling blue eyes that were shaded by the hood of her cloak.
Each passing moment was getting to be interesting, there appears to be a whole new world here, a vibrant world of constant motions and excitement, not the tedious drivel of the courts.

Her father would send her far away from Aldeia if he knew she had disobeyed his orders and was trawling about. She winced at their last argument, a quarrel that was based largely on her desire to see the free world. She had hardly won an understanding from her father, instead it had ended with a stormy fit of rage, and a demand that she retire to her quarters. Now, a large risk, this was, to be here after that dramatic episode, but it was a risk she, Leda Vertiene, was willing to take. She was first in line to be crowned queen, and what was more dutiful to her people, but to survey the land she had been reared up to rule?

She watched the sea, enraptured by its sparkling beauty, oblivious to the shadow that suddenly fell over her. A rough hand grabbed her shoulder, quickly muffled her shouts with her own veil and began dragging her towards the side of the ship. Darkness obscured her vision, yet despite, her sense of smell was keenly taken to the dankness of the place.
She could feel herself nearly suffocating from shortage of oxygen, but then the hands pressing the veil loosened, and she was shoved into a cramp quarter, what she soon figured to be a solitary cabin tucked underneath the deck. The same ship she had serenely observed just minute before. The moment she heard the sound of the door click to a lock, she groaned, realizing the full punch of reality. Her heart sank. Father was right.

Ailene pulled her hat low onto her head, trying to disguise the fact that she was a woman. Rumor had it that a ship was going to be leaving port soon, and she wanted to be on that ship. Hence the reason she was dressed as a man. For her own protection, she had a dagger strapped to her side, but nothing more. She trusted that she wouldn't be needing much more than that anyway.

She picked her way through the crowd, trying to get to the ship that had just docked. The one rumored to be heading out again in just a few short days. She stopped to stare at it as she got close to it. Taking a deep breath, she started up it's ramp. Once she got onto the deck, she stopped a nearby sailor to ask where the captain was. The sailor gave her directions, and she followed them.

When Ailene arrived at the captains quarters, she hesitated before knocking on the door. She wanted to make sure that nothing would give her true identity away. Confidant that her secret would continue to be her's alone, she pounded on the door.

"Come in," called out a deep commanding voice.

Ailene entered the room, and kept her hat on. She got her first good look at the man who was in charge of this majestic ship. He was tall, slightly handsome, with medium length blonde hair, and blue eyes. The captain looked at her and frowned his displeasure.

"Take that off," he said, motioning to the hat.

"I can't sir," she said, trying to keep her voice low and unrecognizable. "Please forgive me."

"Very well, keep it on for now," the captain said with a shrug. "What do you want?"

"I've heard rumors that you are to be leaving port shortly, and that you will be taking on some new crew members. I'd like to be one of them."

"Well, we are in need of new members, and you would possibly be welcome, except for one thing," the captain said, coming closer to her.

"What is that Captain?" Ailene said, trying to fight her fear.

"This," he said as he snatched her hat off, revealing wavy long dark hair that cascaded about her shoulders. "I'll not have any women on board my ship."

"Please sir, I can cut it short, and I can pull my own weight around here," she said, panicking. "I'll do anything you ask of me."

"Anything?"

Ailene swallowed hard and nodded, her blue eyes sparkling in a combination of fear and excitement. The captain walked over to a barrel in the corner of his cabin and pointed at it.

"Lift that, and you can come along."

Ailene grinned. She had been lifting heavy things for years now, as part of her chores at home. She sauntered over to the barrel, and lifted it off the ground. After she placed it back on the ground, she noticed the sour look on the captains face.

"Very well, you're allowed on board Mr.....?"

"Alain Wright sir, but, it's Ailene in private."

"Alain Wright, got it. Alain, we leave port in two days. We're transporting very precious cargo for a private contractor. No one, save for myself and my first mate know what it is, and it's going to stay that way until we decide otherwise. Is that clear?"

"Very sir."

"Alright then. Go, get you last things taken care of, supplies ready, and that hair cut, and be back here tomorrow. Understood?"

Ailene said nothing, merely nodded, smiled and shook the captains hand. She grabbed her had off the floor, where it had incidentally been tossed, tucked her hair up, and raced off, to get what she needed for the trip.

Mathias frowned as he reined in his horse. The roan gelding snorted and pulled restlessly at the bit, prancing a bit in place. His long dark hair was gathered in a single tail at the nape of his neck, partially hidden by the heavy woolen cloak.

The Royal standard was sewn into the right shoulder of his cloak, the expertly-done embroidery vivid against the somber color of the wool. His dark green eyes scanned the docks ahead of him, and grimly dismounted. Of all things he could have done today, to find the yet again wayward princess Leda was not one he would have chosen.

He led his horse onward, hoping to find some sign of Leda, knowing that he dared not return without her. He passed one ship, and one of the mates that stood near the wooden ramp leading up to the deck gave Mathias a dark look before returning to whatever menial job he had been given.

Mathias was about to turn away when a figure hurrying away from the same ship plowed into him. Mathias stumbled and his horse reared, neighing in panic...

Ailene hadn't been watching where she was going, and had slammed into a body. She fell backwards landing on her butt. She heard a horse, and instinctively rolled to one side and leapt up to her feet. Her hat had fallen over her eyes a little bit, so she took it off to fix it again, letting her dark hair spill down her shoulders for the second time that day.

She looked at the man she had just bumped into, preparing to defend herself if need be. Her eyes widened as she saw the royal standard on his cloak.

"I'm sorry sir, please forgive me for running into you like that. Is there anything I can do to help you?"

"Do not be afraid, My lady" said Leda's mysterious assailant, in a soft and husky voice with the hint of an accent of which Leda could not quite place. "You must forgive me for manhandling you so, but you do not want to get off this ship at this moment in time." Looking down at his feet and away from her as he spoke still hidden back in the shadows, he seemed surprisingly nervous and uncomfortable in her presence, despite him being the "captor" as it were. "My name is Varen, i am in the employ of your father."

“Help me!” Leda screamed throwing herself against the door, ignoring her assailant. When realizing that it was locked that the only person that held the key to unlock it was the captor himself, or whatever he claimed to be, she flung herself at him. She was a princess, of an ancient bloodline, and was not made to be kidnapped, and stuck here in this indecent, absolutely horrible environment. She deserved better, and she deserved it right now. And this man was going to make sure he “undid” his “manhandling”.

“My father would never have agreed to this! I don’t believe you! He would never send me away. I’m his only daughter, next in line to the throne!”
Her throat was almost raw. “Or by the gods, he’ll send a whole legion against you.

"Are you finished yet? This is not the time to be hysterical, you are not going to leave anytime soon so i suggest you sit down and listen to me for a moment. If you are old enough to be out in the world on your own then you are old enough to quit actiing like a spoilt brat and listen to someone who tells you that you are in danger."

Leda quieted down, her face not as ardently flushed as before. She was beaten, a strange wonder that she never have felt before.
“My father would never do such a thing as to have me kidnap,” she said, in utter denial. “He would never.” She turned and faced him directly, her eyes boring into him. “Tell me then if thats the truth, why would he do such a thing? And how is it that I am in danger, when the only danger present is you?"

Baerwyn fingered his daughter’s lock of golden hair that was fastened onto the locket around his neck. He sighed as he felt the soft texture rubbing smoothly against his fingers, fingers that has never been subjected to hardship, nor caused to be callused.

His golden hair girl had slipped away last night and never came back. What a great calamity every king fears to befall their first born and only heir. The golden circlet on his head reflected the light, as he tilted his head. He turned his thoughts back to their argument last night. He had warned her, that if she left the palace ground she would be vulnerable to every thing without the entourage of servants to protect her. In a much colder tone, he had also threaten her that if she is caught trafficking she would be packed and shipped away to a remote island to be “dealt with.”

After the scene, he had expected her disobedience, knowing full well his daughter’s plan. Nowhis plans for her defiance had undergone its works, or should be. She will come back fit for the throne that is if she survived her trials. If not, he had his head inclined to one side, and smiled; there was that distant nephew of his…

"You are not Kidnapped, My Lady." Moran leaned forward, his face coming into the small shaft of light emanating from the porthole in the cramped cabin. His eyes were sad, but as they began to bore into Leda, they became very hard.

Dark black hair, appeared around his face, it was cut at roughly the same level as his jaw line. His face was cool and serious, no hint of a facade or duplicity, just a calm expectation that what he said was going to be listened to and heeded.

"The only danger you are in here, is of recieving an education. You know who you are so i'm not going to bore you with a lecture. Your escape was not facilitated by your own devices, you were allowed to leave the palace and several ambitious noble houses' eyes and ears in the palace were given enough hints to work out where you are going. Some people would gain much advantage if you were to dissapear."

"Your Father enabled you to get this far, but no, he would never allow you to get Kidnapped, which is why i am here."

OOC: I should know your age, btw.

Her heart sank as the realization dawned upon her. He’s not lying, her mind concluded from his tone and demeanor, although her heart furiously wanted otherwise. It’s done, Father wins, he had made good of his threat by sending her away through this ordeal. Father perhaps had also planned for her return by the time of her 18th birthday in due time for her coronation as Queen. That was this coming summer solstice, nearly two full moons away.

“Where am I to be taken to,” she said in a hurried tone, fearful he would leave her without knowledge of what she was up against.

When the news of the princess’s disappearance reached Baron Malvo’s ear, whispers were exchanged to and fro between him and his confidante’s ears throughout the entire afternoon.

“With the princess now gone to the gods knows where land, the throne is bared wide open.” He grinned, his chubby fingers rubbing together. “For our son, my dear. This is splendid! An opportunity we’ve been waiting for.”

The baroness looked at her husband’s doubts evident in the crease on her face and made her reply. “But she is not dead, Malvo. Who’s to say she won’t return and claim her throne? Who’s to say, we won’t be accused of being usurpers and hanged for treason?”

The baron brought his fingers up to stroke his double chin. “Ah, yes you’re completely right,” he said, a sly glint in his eyes. “But who’s to say she will return atall?”
And implicit connection passed between them, they understood the risk, and they were all too willing to take it. The king was growing old, his heir a spoiled reckless daughter with a prevalent conception as a complete misfit for the crown had disappeared, it was only time that their son would claim crown, and they as regents beside him.

“I will have an assassin ready tonight,” Malvo proclaimed.

"You will be taken to a great many places, some more dangerous than others and you will come to understand how the world works. You have lived a sheltered life, this is going to change." As he spoke, he reached down and picked up a plain brown leather satchel and slung it in Leda's general direction.

"In there, you will find typical mourning dress for a priestess of Ilueki, we will walk off the ship, do not look anywhere but infront of you or at me. You will walk down the prominade for a while before turning off a sidestreet, if someone stops us, let me do the talking. Do not forget, a priestess of Ilueki in mourning takes a vow of silence until she has seen the one she is mourning buried... and, my name is Moran." He paused a moment to let all that sink in and provide an opportunity for questions.

Realizing that she was indeed not going to be trapped inside the ship’s cabin as she had formerly surmised, Leda mused out loud with a slight chuckle. “Has my father become soft and now finally allows me to experience the full truths of the world?”

She caught the satchel he had thrown at her and brought it to her chest. Leveling her blue eyes at him, she said, “Aye, I am more than willing to submit and follow through my father’s orders. Moran, you say, mind if I ask, who you are? Your rank and title? If I’m to be in entrusted into your care, then these things I should know.”
She flashed him a quick smile. “As you perchance know more about me then I, you.”

"Your father has not grown soft, he is risking his life for the good of his Kingdom, and you are going to learn no more than was ever put in front of you before." He pulled a key from between the folds of darkness that seemed to surround him.

"You're not submitting to your father's orders, here and now, i am your god, your best friend and life and death. You are on a knife edge girl and i am the only thing keeping you on it. I am going to stand outside this door until i have counted to 200, i expect you to be changed, have your current clothes placed in the satchel and be ready to leave." He turned to the door and twisted the key in the lock before pausing briefly "I am of the unseen."

Mathias turned, straining to calm his horse, the roan pulled at the reins and finally settled, though his ears remained low against his scull.

Mathias turned and brushed some of the dust off of his cloak. "No, no need to apologize... " He trailed off as he looked at the girl for the first time. "Forgive me M'lady... " He glanced at the ship behind her, and noticed the deck-hand giving them both a cold stare now.

"Um... that your ship?" He asked, puzzled.

"I am here to see the Baron...let me through," Growled a voice from behind the large double doors of the throne room. THe doors were pushed open, in strolled a tall, muscular man. His cloak had been discarded, and was only wearing light armor, leather, his chain and platemail not needed today. He bowed his head to the Baron, then lookd at him with a glint in his eye, "Baron Malvo, a pleasure again, I heard you were in need of some....," he paused, "special services......As always, I am at your command..."

Jeris paused again, looking straight at the Baron and...few knew..father. It was a secret well harbored, a secret that not even was baroness was aware of, him being of a harlot and the man on the throne. To all others he was Commander Jeris Ariik, Second-in-Command of the Royal Guard and loyal servant to the king. But to Malvo, he was Jeris Malvo, personal assassin, backstabber, and information-leaker. But it was a well kept secret, and had stayed that way for some time.

Leda face flushed scarlet. Such insolence, she thought angrily. Him as her god? How dare he assert such a title as though she was far beneath him? And of him as an “unseen”?

“Wonderful, now he speaks in riddles.” She yanked out the dress and quickly changed.
Straightening the creases of the dress, she thought wryly, at least it decently looks and fit well.
She had a smirk on her face as she waited for him to finish counting his last numbers.

The baron waved his bejeweled hands in acknowledgement. “Well now Jeris, it is of course an honour for a commoner to be meeting a baron as great as I. As much as I would like to elaborate further on about my greatness, unfrotunately, we’re not here to discuss pleasantries,” he took a seat and languished at his throne.
“We’re here to discuss about an important assignment at hand. Should you decide to accept this assignment, you would be provided with ample resources to get it done, money, horses, weapons. Should you achieve an agreeable end result, you would be given a title of nobility, or a reward of your choosing. Good incentive?”

The baron placed his arm on the shoulder rest and leaned closer to the standing commander. He knew the commander would accept. There were whispers in the household that people tend to disappear once they displeased the baron, or fallen from grace. And this man standing before him was no fool as to displease the baron.
“Now, how say you before I continue to speak further on the task?”

Ailene looked back at the ship for a moment. She wondered who that was on the ramp and why he was looking at them that way. Shaking her head, she turned back to the man in front of her.

"No, that's not my ship," she began, "but I will be sailing on it in a few days. I've just been hired on."

Moran never bothered counting any numbers, he turned to the nearest hand on deck, a short, wiry, shaven headed chap who regarded Moran enquiringly as soon as he noticed his attention.

"Is the man still on the docks?" Moran asked quietly, but casually and he recieced an equally quiet and casual "Yes Sir." before the man moved on. Satisfied with his answer, Moran moved towards the captain's quarters for his afternoon meal.

"I do not need to know what it is to know where I would agree or not, Your Grace. You know my loyalties," His eyes glinted mischeviously, "Nor do I need incentive to carry out your word......." He bowed his head, "Speak of this duty, though keep your voice low, and hurry, if I may ask of such, for other duties are required of me, those which dictate my other loyalties....."

He calmed himself and drawled. “Now, back to this duty. You have heard the reports that the princess is missing. I want her to stay missing. You do of course understand what that entails?” His eyes suddenly flashed as it eyed the warrior fiercely.

During Moran's 200 counts Leda began to reflect upon what had just occurred. However he clamied to be in her father’s employ she was not going to place an immediate trust in him. There was something odd abouthim, something she could not place a finger on, something to be very cautious about. She efficiently twisted her hair into a bun and tucked the frayed hairs behind her ears.

He bowed to the Baron and then to the Baroness, before stepping out. Picking up his cloak with teh seal of the royal guard, he untethered his powerful black stallion and took his other role.

"Commander Mathias...I apologize for my lateness.." he said hurridly.
