THE BACKGROUND

This thread is based upon the events following the War of Souls Trilogy, the Gods of magic have restored Wizardly magic to the world of Krynn and punished Dalamar for his betrayal by revoking his control of the Tower of Palanthus.

Palin Majere has turned his back on magic, content to be at last in peace with his family, while the Dark elf Dalamar and other prominent surviving wizards have begun the arduous task of rebuilding the shattered Order of High Sorcery.

That in essence is what this thread is about, the trials and tribulations of those who are struggling to rebuild the Wizardly Orders. Dalamar of course will be the head of the Order of Nuitari (Black Robes), and Cherizal, the co-founder of this thread, has shown interest in playing the head of the Order of Lunitari (Red Robes)but other roles are still needed too and not just those of mages (including the Order of Solinari), it is a mighty and almost impossible task ahead of them and wizards alone will not have the strength to face what lies ahead.

Those Chosen by their respective Gods (Solinari, Lunitari and Nuitari) to head the new Orders have received a message in the form of a vivid dream which has guided them to the forlorn Lake of Death, in the dead of night where the once beautiful city of Qualinost stood…

I'm working on the first actual IC post so please wait to add to the thread until after my next post, Thanks :)

OOC: This sounds like an interesting thread. Mind if I join? I'd probably be a renegade-type character who converts to the Order, if that's ok. I'm still working on it. "You cannot reach them. We tried once, yes, precious. I tried once;

OOC: D_M, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but Arandur is gonna play Dalamar :) You can be another black robe though, if you wish. And DarkSage you are welcome to join and remeber to post in my thread! You are missed ;)

Ah! As co-founder of this thread I am allowed to post before Arandur ;)

BIC: Cherizal stood and looked at the dark water of the lake of death. Her eyes were filled with tears. She had never been in Qualinost before, but she mourned for the loss of the beautiful elven capital, in the same way as she had mourned for the loss of her own hometown, Silvanost, that now was in the hands of the Minotaurs.

Silvanesti.. she hadn't seen her beautiful country for almost a century, but the pain was still as big as it had been just after she had been banished. Magic had been her only reason to live and the decades after the war of souls had been tough. Loosing the magic after the departure of the gods had wounded her deeply and had made her life a hell. But the gods were back now and she could feel hope in her heart again.

It had been only a few days since the dream. Lunitari herself, the goddess of twilight magic, had appeared to her and asked her to go to the Lake of Death on that specific day.
Cherizal, my child, it's time to rebuild the conclave and regain possession of the tower of Wayreth. It won't be an easy task, but you are allowed to summon one or two people who you think can help you.

The path will be filled with danger and enemies, but I have faith in you. You are destined to be the Head of my order and together with the Head of the Black Robes and the Head of the White Robes, you will able to give high sorcery back to the world of Krynn had the goddess told her in her soft voice.

She could still feel the gentle touch of her gooddess and after decades of agony, she could finally feel the magic run through her veins again. She cast her head back and closed her eyes enjoying the coolness of the wind. She was going to have the power she had dreamt of and that would repay her for all the suffering she had been through.

Hmmmm, this sounds interesting. Any chance I could sneak a char in?
May thy passing be made with ease
May thee find thy rest at long last
May the fire that would burn thee,
May it burn black for shame.
May the pains of this life depart,
May thy demons eternally be silenced.
And May dragons fly in your dreams.

Darn, well if DM is gonna take the head of the white robes... I guess I'll just play Stormwing... ;) In my stories, one of my "Greygem" dragons (what I mean by Gryegem dragon is that he is a dragon born between the union of Glimmer and Navare, his scales and wings are greyish-silver.... and people have been calling him and his three other siblings that are of the same color "Greygem Dragons") stands vigil over the lake of Death... somehow he can become an interesting part to the story.

OOC: The characters we need for this thread are mages and warriors, but no dragons unfortunately. Kalia and Dark Master, maybe you could talk and decide who will take the head of the white robes. It's up to you (D_M arrived first though), the only thing that we would like to point out is that the head of the white robes will be one of the main characters and needs therefore to be well developped through the thread and played by someone that is sure to post regularly. Thanks :)

OOC: darn...Storm wing is a mage in his own right, and like the others of "Kalia's" Offspring usually prefers human/elvan form...but if you say no then alright..... hmmm damn... I just realized that I don't have any actual mage characters....But how about this... DM, Since I know that your char will more than likely be male... how about my char being his daughter or something... could add some interest to the thread? I'll try to get you tomorrow about it.

WHy not?

OOC: Very simple... we don't want you in our thread.

D_M, I'd say you should create a new character, but then if there's a character from the books that you would like to pay, it's fine too. It's up to you, really. l

Dark Sage, you should have waited until Arandur had posted, as he asked. Cherizal is alone at the moment. The other people are supposed to arrive after her and Dalamar. It would be great if you could edit your post so your mage is on the way to the Lake of Death instead of already being there. Thanks.

OOC: Surething, and Kalia, up to yourself. But I wouldn't mind having a Daughter. :D

Oh and, while this may not appeal to everyone...... not sure...... but seeing as both Dalamar and Cherizal and Silvanesti, then I will pick a Silvanesti character aswell. The reason for this being, when the Orders of High Sorcery were first formed, it was three elves that were taken by the The gods of Magic and taught the art...... I think. So I thought it would be fitting for another three elves to have the challenge of rebuilding the Order. If not, then I can easily change his race. :)

IC:

Grief. It ravages the Elves. One of very few things that can sap the life and beauty from their eternally young faces. And his had been no exception, with the loss of his wife, his son, the loss of magic all those years ago. They had all taken their toll on him. Unlike many of the mages, he had not taken up the Primordial magic, though to do so would have easy...... no...... he remained faithful. The primordial magic did not hold the spark that high sorcery had once held for him. With its return, the aspen trees could sing no louder than his own heart had done......

The Lake of Death....... he shuddered at the thought of it. The white robe had mourned the loss of Qualinost...... more loss. That bloated lizard Beryl, he would like to have seen the overgrown wyrm challenge the might of wizards now..... all the Overlords. These passed years would have been different, he would have been able to save...... soo many lives.

Palin Majere. He had to thank the once mage in a way, for without him turning his back on the magic, Phornalasala, would never have been given this chance....... or mayhap he would have....... who knows. But it was with a sorry heart that the Great Palin Majere had diverted his course, he would have been the greatest yet, he had been the greatest. As ever though, Phorn carried on, his own dark doubts etching their way across an already swamped mind. A strange place to meet, The Lake of Death, but he supposed, building hope upon death, an ironic understanding could be gathered from it.

The future looked grim. For all Wizards. There was still a darkness to overcome.... but they all had their lights to brighten the way. Phorn brought his gaze ahead of him, having been staring at the sky for a long period. He smiled, then whispered his words. His magic. A silver shimmer encompassed the white wizard, his hands raised above, the magic tumbling from his mouth all the while. In moments, he was gone, travelling those corridors he had soo long missed.Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

IC: …The black robes of the dark elf, whipped around his lithe form as he regarded the lake before him with his elfin eyes, he knew inside of him there should be some feeling of loss, some feeling of kinship with the Qualinesti and their terrible loss but after the events of the past War, he felt little but emptiness inside. I betrayed everything I ever knew

He cast an eye over cold dark waters of the Lake and nodded to himself, the Order of High Sorcery would indeed live again and he would see to it, by whatever means necessary.

As he glanced across the Lake, he caught another figure in robes the color of blood, his keen elvish vision noting her long silver hair with some familiarity, his mind recalling a bargain struck long ago and long forgotten.

He turned and strode across the verdant, moss covered banks of the Lake of Death, his face lost within the shadows of his cowl, his black robes tossed playfully by the cool night’s air. He passed a glance to the sky seeing the Silver and Red orbs of Solinari and Lunitari and passing over them without a second thought to the disc of darkness that blotted out the stars, the moon of Nuitari.

He could almost feel the displeasure of the Dark God upon him, and looked away quickly, fixing his stare on the Silvanesti woman he approached from the darkness of the night, straightening his shoulders and walking with a proud and arrogant gait for he was Dalamar, Head of the Order of High Sorcery…

OOC: Sorry guys, I just have to do this cameo appearance.... he's not staying.

BIC: The remains of the tower of the sun hung partially over the lake, and two silvery reptilian eyes watched the two mages in silence. His vigil interrupted, Stormwing shifted, the light of the three moons cast a purplish glare on his faceted grey crystal scales.

Tilting his head as though hearing something that none else could, he moved with surprizing silence off of the edge of the ruined tower, and slipped away into the shadows...knowing somehow that this was not for him... when they left only then would he return to his vigil....

Serena brushed her curly dark hair away from her dark blue eyes. She was young, perhaps too young in some eyes... but though most of her life she had been taught that the gods where gone... she donned the robes of neutrality despite her father's indignation.

She sighed and looked around her camp as she tucked an errant curl behind one delicately pointed ear... something was happening, she could feel it in the air, in the moons and in the magic that sparkled in her blood.

Cherizal sensed a changed in the air and the presence of powerful magic. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked around spotting a figure in black robes.

"Good evening, shalafi.." she said bowing to Dalamar, her gesture a mix of respect and mockery "I see the gods have summoned you too... I thought it might be so. I guess my old dream will finally become reality, even without your help..." A small smile crossed her face and her look went dreamy.

"I wonder who Solinari has chosen to be Head of his order..." She regarded Dalamar appraisingly wondering if he had changed and how since the last time he had seen him many years before.

"I guess you have received your instructions, haven't you?" She asked with a hint of curiosity in her voice.

OOC: It's all good. I just deleted my last post, and posted a new one here. I hope this is ok for now.

IC: Suddenly, as if out of nowhere, the shadows coalesced into a form in black robes. The sparkle of magic was felt by the other mages present, and they knew standing before them was a mage who followed in the path of darkness.

"Greeting, fellow mages, I am Kohluran of Tarsis," he said. With his hood pulled back, Kohl bowed respectfully before the highest of the three Orders of High Sorcery. His shoulder-length snowy white hair moved as if in the wind, though no breeze was present in the still land surrounding the Lake of Death.

Hazel eyes studied the mages before him, with a slightly haughty and arrogant look, but nonetheless showing the respect that was due. His black robes were pristine with silver runes of power etched into the hems. Silver wristbands in the semblance of twin dragons with eyes of perfect saphires that gleamed with their own inner light were around each of his wrists, looking almost as if they were alive.

No other artifact could be seen decorating his person, and no other did he need. They were powerful artifacts from the Age of Dreams that he had come across while exploring the ancient ruins of the City of Lost Names. Ancient power could be felt emanating from these.

He stood respectfully behind the master of his own order, Dalamar, and waited silently for the proceedings to continue. "You cannot reach them. We tried once, yes, precious. I tried once;
but you cannot reach them. Only shapes to see, perhaps, not to touch.
No precious! All dead." -Gollum

OOC: Hey Arandur and Cheri! Okay, this might be confusing, but here it goes...

Sometime in TTB (Thicker Than Blood), I was planning to have Theron die, be sent to Corria, his ice goddess. In TTB, I was going to have Corria bend some rules and secretly send Theron back to Krynn to help his friends because of her over sympathy for mortals. Theron comes back even more powerful than before and when he finished his task, is taken back up to Corria in the immortal world.

So, he would still be alive when this thread takes place. He is living with Corria and I plan on having my first post explain Corria telling Theron that she is going to send him back to Krynn to help Cherizal and Dalamar. OR Theron could be one of the people Cherizal chooses to summon, as you stated in your post Cheri, and then in a way he is forced by Corria to come. As I said before, he is almost twice as powerful as he was when he was completely mortal.

If theres a problem with this, I'll just make a new character. So, what ya think? So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint

OOC: Hi Q and thanks for joining :) We like the idea and you are very welcome to play Theron. The three heads of the orders can summon 1-2 "helpers" each, so I think he should be the one Cherizal summons, as they know each other ;) I guess Dalamar won't be pleased to see him though :D

The light flashed brightly, and from the shaft Phorn stepped out, meeting the gaze of both Wizard before him. He was not surprised to see Dalamar. With a curt bow of his head, Phorn addressed them. " Brother, Sister. My greetings and that of my Lord's to you both. Phornalasala Kathan, Head of the White Order, though many call me Phorn... ", the smile on his lips came easily.

His eyes regarded the second black robe with curiousity, though he held his tounge in check. Eyes that then beheld the Lake of Death, with forced reservation. " We all know our purpose I gather? "Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

IC: …The dark elf’s dark emerald eyes narrowed as he looked to his former pupil, hearing the tone of mockery contained with in. The Dalamar of old would have killed her for such impertinence but as it stood she had the Grace of Lunitari and the Order needed each and every surviving Wizard if it was to survive.

“Cherizal, as sweet and as dulcet as I remember, tell me though, did that thing Zander let you out of his grasp long enough to speak with Lunitari or did he go and speak with her in your stead?” he answered in even measured tones with a smile of civility.

“My instructions from Nuitari however were for the Head of the Order.” He said simply as he looked over the lake with an expression of disinterest. He had sensed the arrival of Kohluran as he materialized but kept his reaction well controlled and now craned his head and nodded simply to the black robed wizard.

He said with displeasure in his voice, he did not like being kept waiting and his mind weighed the actions of the white robe in his mind searching for any form of insult in the elf’s lateness as a sudden flash of light heralded the elf’s arrival...

She nodded to Kohluran acknowledging his presence.
"Is this one of your lackeys? I guess you will be pleased to see who I have summoned... I'm sure he will be here very soon." she said to Dalamar with a sardonic smile on her lips.

Then she noticed the arrival of another elf who introduced himself as Phornalasala, Head of the white robes.
"How funny... three Silvanesti elves to restore the order of High Sorcery. Maybe the gods want to give our race one more chance... " she said softly in a wondering tone "Welcome, Phornalasala." she smiled to him and shook his hand "I think we are waiting for a few more people, then we can start making plans for the future. There's a lot to be done"

" An understatement if ever I have heard one, my Lady. ", his smile was a weary one. " Much to do..... soo much...... I suppose it is just aswell we have a few years yet on our elven lives. ", moving away from the Red Robe, Phorn circled a small part of the Lake of Death, all the while muttering to himself, something about sorrow..... loss. Stopping himself, he sauntered back. " Waiting for a few others? ", he frowned, seeming confused, then as though a sheet had been pulled back. " Ah yes..... I see. ", he nodded, seemingly more so to himself than to the other Wizards present.

Serena had doused her fire and continued through the forest. Ahead of her she could hear the voices of several others... and they all seemed to be coming from near the Lake of Death.

when she reached the clearing that surrounded the edge of the lake, she saw four mages, one red robe, two black and one white (did I get that right?) It was the white robe that caught her attention.

"Father?" She said softly as she stepped away from the treeline, the garish light that fell from the three moons washing her red robes almost plum..

Her dark blue eyes skipped from one person to another, recognizing Dalamar, but not knowing the Red robed magess. She stared at her father for a long time... for it had been several years since she had seen him...

", he thought it befitting for this moment in time that she return to him now...... though he had his suspicions that some devine hand had had their play in this as his gaze glanced skyward.

Kohl stood stoically and nodded passively to the Head of the White Robes, before the arrival of the next.
His eyebrow arched as he studied the newest arrival, supposedly the daughter of the white robed archmagus. This he found interesting, and he kept note of it, as well as the expression on his face.

He glared at Cherizal when she referred to him as Dalamar's lackey, but kept his expression blank. Impatience was beggining to bubble below the surface of his calm demeanor, and he glanced sideways at the Heads of the Orders to see if anything was going to happen anytime soon.
He sent a questioning glance to Dalamar, a mage he had so long admired for his power and ambition. Only time would tell how the events of that day would unfold.

Closing his eyes, he coaxed the spark of magic within himself, and muttered the words and proper gestures to a divining spell.
Images began to form in his mind, though they appeared cloudy and unreadable. Disciplining his mind, he still could not pass the clouds of the untold, and guessed there must be some divine interference that wasn't allowng him to see into the futur. He would have to wait. Serena moved closer, still glancing at her father now and again. She had expected.... what? Hostility? Anger? Scorn? Yes. All those and more...but not this... this blatant acceptance.

The memory of their parting made her shiver at his anger... but she had gone on with her life... even if it was outside of everything she had ever known or loved.... She looked at the others... Dalamar... he too understood her pain, and so did, probably, the other. Serena sighed, a soft, gentile sound; no louder than the breath of breeze that skimmed the surface of the lake.

What do we wait for? She wondered, as the breeze played with her hair, the mass of dark curls tumbling wildly around her shoulders.

Far above Krynn, and past the distant clouds, Theron sat with crossed legs on a beautifully woven carpet. He was facing the great white dragon, Corria. Theron was enjoying after life with the goddess he had worshipped for most of his mortal life. The monk did not know how long he had been up there with the beautiful white dragon.

The monk looked more middle aged than the twenty year old he was when he died. He no longer had a mohawk, and instead had a completely shaved head. Covering his chin was a beard of snow white hair. Theron wore white pants, with the same ice blue diamond brand on both knee caps of the cloth.

"Come on Corria, just one occurance?" Theron begged, with a grin. He sat there, sipping a steaming cup of tea. Corria gave a gentle laugh and smirked at the monk.

"No, no, no, you cant beg me to break another law! You almost got me in trouble the last time. Palanthas personally addressed me and told me NEVER to let you know what is happening on Krynn....ever!" Corria said, teasing the monk. Theron sighed in slight dissapointment. He loved living among the gods, however, he did miss the events and drama of real, mortal life on Krynn.

When Theron died, he was payed for his good and sacrifice as a mortal with the gift of living with his goddess Corria. He also had eternal life when amongst the gods. There was one occurance when Corria secretly sent Theron back to the mortal world to save his friends some time ago. Theron was mortal when he was sent back and died again, being sent back to Corria. Palanthas had scolded the ice goddess for her foolishness, preaching that the monk could have given away the secrets of the after life. Theron, however, did not. And the few times he had been sent back after that, he had sworn never to give detail about the after life, or else he would be banished and in death he would rot and not be brought back to Corria. Theron had not gone back to Krynn in a long time, and was finally getting comfortable and at home in the great ice castle with Corria.

The monk was startled as a bright yellow light flew through one of the open windows of the castle lobby where Corria and Theron sat and chat. The light glided over to Corria and began to dance around her and make a low squeeking sound.

"Hmmmm.....Lunitari?....wants him?.....I see...." Corria listened carefully to, what Theron assumed, was a fairy. She looked dissapointed and slowly turned her large head to lock eyes with Theron.

"Theron, I am sorry to say that you must go back to Krynn. It is necessary, says Lunitari, and you cannot disobey her my boy." Corria said, appearing much saddened. Theron was shocked.

"What? Again? I have gone down there so many times! I want to stay, b-but I understand..." Theron said with a gloomy face. He got up and grabbed his steel staff, which now had a faint iceblue enchantment on the shaft. It was a design of a dragon with its mouth open surrounded by a diamond, the symbol of Corria. It was all the monk needed. He had twice the power as he once did and was still a great martial arts fighter.

Theron walked to Corria and wrapped his arms around her large neck. The great white dragon rest her head on the monks shoulder as clear tears dripped down her large snout.

"Ill be back soon my friend." Theron said, patting the dragon on the nose. The fairy whipped around the monks head and dashed out the door.

"Follow her quick...take Blizz...and dont do anything stupid!" Corria shouted in concern as Theron dashed out of the temple, following the fairy with great speed. The monk whipped around and nodded.

"Oh, thank you Corria. I will bring him back unharmed, I promise." Theron said with and excited grin. The monk approached a large, sleeping white tiger with black stripes (OOC:siberian tiger). He kicked the huddled form lightly to wake it up.

"Blizz, wake up, we gotta go now!" Theron said impatiently, the large tiger yawned and staggered up. Its back reached Therons chin. Blizz and Theron got along well. Blizz was twice the size of a normal tiger and twice as intelligent.

Theron grabbed hold of Blizzes fur as he lept into the air to mount the large tiger. The tiger knew where to go as it dashed after the fairy. The tiger pounded its large feet into the snow which surrounded the castle. Theron and Blizz followed the fairy until they were suddenly warped to a small room. In the room was a bright multicolored void on the floor. In front of the void was a man in a white hood, hiding his face. A long white beard stretched down into sight.

"Theron, servant of Corria, you know the rules. You speak of this place more than the fact that it is where you came from, and you will not be permitted back. That is understood?" The white robed figure asked.

"Yes. I know the drill." Theron said with a grin. The robed figure sighed, shaking his head at the monks "no big deal" attitude. He stepped aside from the portal and motioned for Theron to proceed.

"You will be transported to the Death Lake. You will find out more when you get there. Just go." The white robed figure said impatiently. Theron nodded, not knowing what Death Lake was, and Blizz lept into the air, and into the void.

Instantly, Theron found himself riding at the edge of a forest. He patted Blizz on the neck in signal to stop. The tiger stopped and looked around fearfully at the sight before him. Theron dismounted in awe, scratching his white beard.

"Death Lake, eh?" Theron said in disgust at the well-named lake at the edge of the forest. Theron turned at the sound of talking and whistled Blizz to follow him. He walked, his staff in his hands, being followed by the large white tiger.

He approached the small group of mages and spoke. He noticed a white robed from the sight and couldnt catch its face.

"I assume you are the one who summoned me here, since Lunitari has done so." Theron said, approaching the red robe and standing right next to it, not meeting eyes just yet.So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint

IC: …Dalamar surveyed the scene before him, his face a careful mask of neutrality, one that had been perpetuated throughout the decades of his quest to slake his thirst for arcane power.

He met their gazes evenly as if he was weighing each of them individually, peering into their being and calculating where they fit best in the new Order he sought to establish.

He waited heartbeats more, enjoying their displeasure at having to wait upon him until finally he stepped forward using a simple arcane cantrip to propel his voice further than it would normally have carried.

The sudden arrival of another human caused the elf a moment of distraction as the bald headed figure moved to Cherizal’ side with a familiarity that Dalamar found unsettling. Finally it dawned on him it was the young monk of corria who had assaulted him within his own Tower. His eyes narrowed slightly as he took in the aged monk before swallowing his anger and stepping upon the nearest moss-covered stone.

“I assume you all understand the need to reestablish the Order of High Sorcery,” he began glancing across the others once again as he turned his back and looked to the lake of death.

“Then here upon this silent grave we shall begin our first Order of business, the reclaiming of the Tower of Wayreth. Closed to us since Takhisis stole our world…”

" The Tower....... ", his own mind wandered at the thought of it, remembering when he had last set foot within its walls, striding the corridors, wishing fellow mages a good day or evening, the looks of respect..... the looks of awe he gained as he would pass by young apprentices. " How do you propose we start this first task then, Dalamar? I assume your Lord has provided you with some sort of plan....... or is that for us to ponder over. ", he still averted his eyes from Serena. Too many memories.Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

Cherizal smiled seeing Theron approach followed by a white tiger.
"Welcome to the lake of death, Theron. Yes, it was me who summoned you. Lunitari told me I could have the help of a few people on this mission and I thought you could be useful. And you are one of the few people who have been able to kick our lord Dalamar..." she finished with a chuckle and then returned her attention to the rest of the group.

She tucked her hands into the sleeves of her robe and listened to Dalamar's words.
"Yes, the tower has fallen into evil hands.. And the forest has become a nest of nightmares" she said in a whisper remembering the only time she had tried to approach the forest. She shivered and wondered if they had enough power to defeat the creatures that inhabited it now.

"Did Nuitari told you why we had to meet here, Dalamar? Why the Lake of Death of all places..." She was sure Dalamar had got more instructions of her as he was destined to be the Head of the Conclave, and she wasn't pleased about that, knowing how much Dalamar loved secrets and intrigues. "And are we waiting for any more people?"

IC: …Dalamar raised a brow in question towards Cherizal for a moment and then turned to regard the others once again, smoothing his dark robes with a hand as he collected his thoughts and chose his words with care.

“Yes, I have heard mutterings much the same Cherizal, though whether they are reliable or not yet remains to be seen. At any rate, the enchantments that once kept the Tower hidden from those not part of the Order now also work to hinder us also.” He said softly, his voice amplified through the simple cantrip.

“That is what we are here to discuss, which is the best course to find our way through the nightmare that Wayreth Forest has become, and then how we reclaim it from whatever resides there now.” He said. How they all look to me for guidance yet I betrayed the Order in its most darkest of hours…

Phorn's face looked grave, a deep frown setting between his brow. " What you say...... is troubling....... we know all too well the things that guarded the Tower when we resided within it, to have those things turn on us now.... ", a silent shudder caused the new Head of the White Order to cease speaking for a few moments. " But.... I for one will help where I can...... "

He would commune with his Silver Lord before the night was through. There were still matters that needed addressing.Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

"And those things have not only turned on us... They have changed... I'm not even sure the new master of the tower can control them. We'll need to be very careful!"

Cherizal fell silent for a while, then she looked to Dalamar with expectation in her eyes.
"We are here in this place to do something, Dalamar. Why don't we start? We have so much to do, we shouldn't waste anymore time"

I totally Agree with the thread. But I have a feeling that if solinari was to choose his Represenitive for the Order, It would have to be Palin Majere. Through out the books, I have not seen any more mage qualified for the task. Even though Palin Majere turned his his back on magic, not because he hated it but he need time with his loved ones, If solinari had proposed to palin the offer, I think He would take it. For one reason it would be that Palin has the same desire for the magic as his uncle, The Archmagus Raistlin Majere. But then again, It would be up to him.

OOC: Firstly, I guess I should point out that this is a fictional thread and that none of the events depicted within are 'canon' in any way shape or form, thay are a calloaborative effort between the writers posted above.

Secondly, the position was indeed offered to Palin Majere in the final book of the War of Souls Trilogy and he did indeed refuse the offer, citing that because of the magic he had lost precious time with his family. I think refusing the offer a God once is enough grounds for not being called upon again...

OOC: I'm changing my char's name...hope no one minds...since we're not far in.. sorry but I like this one better ;) Kethryveris would be her full name, Kethry or Keth for short

BIC: Kethry listened to the others speak. The thoughts of the forest and even the tower itself turning against the mages made her shiver... a large grey housecat slipped out of the shadows of the forest and wound itself around her legs a couple of times before settling at her feet, tail curled over its paws as it regarded the mages with bright green eyes.

Phron stole a swoft glance at his daughter, noting the familiar at her feet. He supressed a sigh. A sudden thought occured to him, " The Corridors of Magic...... I doubt we could enter the Tower that way? "Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

Kohl closed his eyes and formed in his mind the words to a teleportation spell. He quickly sorted through the jumbled mass of indecipherable syllables until they came into a semblance of order in his head.

Satisfied, he spoke the words carefully and visualized the study in the Tower of Wayreth that he had so frequently visited.
Silver motes danced around him and he could feel the spell work, but just before he was about to be transported, a spine-chilling laugh broke through his spell and it shriveled away into nothing.
The ecstasy of magic running like fire through his blood was cut short. Emptiness. He head failed. The saphire eyes of the twin silver dragon wristbands has been shining brightly, but returned to their dull glow.

Looking away from the other mages, they could read the disappointment clearly on his face. "I'm afraid that way is also forbidden to us. Some hidden power is blocking our attempts to enter the Tower through magical means. We must find another way."
He looked down at his feet, defeated. "You cannot reach them. We tried once, yes, precious. I tried once;
but you cannot reach them. Only shapes to see, perhaps, not to touch.

Something flared in the white mage's eyes. " My statement was not one to be acted upon so swiftly young mage. If anything one us three would have attempted such an action...... I would think a little disipline from you, especially in front of Lord Dalamar...... ", an aura of power suddenly flared within the old elf. He would not chastise the black robe further, such was a task for Dalamar if he deemed it fit.Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

Theron nodded to Dalamar respectfully, setting the quarrel they had so long ago aside. Hearing the white robes suggestion and Dalamar's apprentice's failure to travel by magic, Theron decided to intervine.

"Perhaps...perhaps we could fly. Fly over the Forest of Wayreth to avoid that danger. Are dragons or griffins still about? Forgive my ignorance, I do not know of the events that have come to pass since I left this world. The gods forbid it." Theron suggested. So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint

OOC: hehe... flying..the funny thing is I just came up with another character... and I would love to use her if possible... a very mortal char, (as Griffons go) Please let me use her... she could be a friend to Kethry, and she could get others to get us to the forest....?

Cherizal
11/22/2003 2:56 PM

OOC: Kalia, we are not going to fly to the forest, we have other plans. But e-mail me or Arandur with the details about your character and we'll let you know if she can fit in.

Q, you should post in Renegade. We need you for the coming battle.

BIC: Cherizal watched Kohl fail his attempt to teleport to Wayreth.
"You humans always want to rush things. If you just had waited a few seconds, I would have told you that it was not possible to reach the tower that way"

She looked at him coldly, then added with a faint smile.
"But at least it's good you didn't try to fight against the barrier as I did. I was out cold for almost a whole day after that"

Then she turned to Theron and sighed.
"Unfortunately that's not going to work either. The new master of the tower has raised a shield to protect his domain from every kind of intruders. No, we have to find another solution. That's what we are here for"

OOC: I thought I would just show a little human weakness in front of the haughty elves(no offense, just elves in general look down on humans), so it kinda works out great!

IC: Kohl's face burned with shame at having acted so swiftly out of arrogance and pride, but also with anger at having been chastised by a white-robed. "I'm sorry, masters, for having acted without your prior consent. I shall remember this lesson and it won't happen again." He lowered his eyes properly, if only to hide from them anger that was welling up inside him.

"What, if I would be so bold to ask, is it exactly that we can do against such magic as this?" he half expected them to burst out on him for his arrogance, but looked for support to his master, Dalamar.
"Is it possible that we could use the power of magical artifacts to break this shield? I believe such arcane items are still left in this world, even after the Plunder." He was, of course, referring to the time when mages sought to obtain magical artifacts to fuel their spells, when magic was believed to be failing. "You cannot reach them. " It stands to reason then, that this shield must be shattered yes? ", the White Robe stood, his arms enfolded in his sleeves. Solinari shone down upon his chosen, setting his robes ablaze in silver. " But then it would be obvious to state, that it will take a great amount of power to smash through The Master's defenses..... power I don't think even you have, Dalamar..... though I stand to be corrected if need be....... "Apparently there are more important things in life than fashion. Yeah, right.

Kethry shifted her weight from one foot to the other, the feline at her feet cleaned it's paws with infinite patience; patience that Kethry was quickly losing. She glanced from one mage to the other, her gaze resting on her father for a long moment before finally falling to Dalamar.

"Power that none of us can carry alone...." she intoned softly, her voice a soft whisper on the breeze that stirred.

DarkSage

"She's right, I believe," he said catching her gaze. "We must pool our considerable magical energies together to make a weapon that can penetrate this shield."
His mind wandered for a bit, and then it dawned on him. "Shouldn't we try and find out who it is we are up against before we plan to attack this unknown enemy?" It did sound kind of elvish of him to say that, when he was usually the one that championed swift action.
