*Okay, I thought I would try a cyberpunk style version of Krynn much like that found in the Shadowrun RPG but changed to fit in with the history of Krynn. The setting is Krynn of the future a darkened reality much like the works of William Gibson. Megacorporations rule much of the planet through there sheer size and power and science has become as powerful as the arcane arts.

Cybernetics is an everyday occurrence and is considered fashionable amongst many cultures and races, despite the toll it takes on one’s essence (spirit) and the damaging effect it has on Krynnish magic. It’s a hard thing to explain but think of movies such as Bladerunner or Johnny Mnemonic with sorcery and faith, as if Krynn had evolved through the years to that level. Anyway here goes….

It is the year 2037, the Sixth Age of Krynn and much has changed. Gone are the stone cities of old, replaced by the dark monolithic towers of glass and steel, the old ways replaced by the new, the art of magic and of faith relegated to equals to the art of science.

Amongst the megacorporations and sprawling arcology buildings (massive self contained building that house thousands of families) and slum-like warzone sprawls of the metropolis cities lie darkness and deception, the province of the dark gods. The dizzying power of the elite is mirrored by the devastating poverty of the underclasses. Adventurers have become experts as living in the shadows, beyond the law and in pursuit of that one big score.

Though the age has changed, there is still much that is the same. The struggle between the light and the dark, the balance between the gods and the maliciousness of the Dark Queen and her minions…

IC: …The acid rain fell heavy that night, sizzling the pavement and concrete of the massive buildings that hid the night’s sky from the lowest levels in the depths of the metropolis known as Sanction.

A figure made his way through the stream of people who crowded the old-style market street, peddling their cheap knock offs and knick-knacks and haggling or hawking their wares to any passerby who showed the least bit of interest in a smattering of languages.

Crowds of people, a melting pot of races, lined the busy roadway of Hogan Bight’s lane, the only common thread, their poverty and their penchant for the now infamous shady street where everything could be bought for a price.

The figure kept on walking, twisting and turning through the masses, his eyes on the blue and silvered neon lights that depicted a griffon, taking flight in three stages and the massive neon lettering that denoted the building as the ‘Liquid Griffon. Now and then the blue irises where drawn upward to the sound of an AV and their vectored thrust engines as they moved through the night’s sky above.

The figure reached the doors and glanced nervously at the hulking figures of the half ogre bouncers working the door, the heavy staccato of metal music spilled into the street in bowel shaking beats, and he ran a gloved hand through his long ebon hair and looked to the to bouncers before stepping up to the stairs.

“I have an appointment with someone inside.” he said simply, though the half ogres had given him little attention as the figure stepped up into the crowded bar and dance hall scene inside. He surveyed the scene with deep blue eyes and reached a hand to the shoulder rig that housed his heavy caliber revolver to ease of the weapons safety. One could never be too careful. He adjusted his long black leather coat on his shoulders and plunged into the revelrie.

He made his way across the room to the bar, jostled and passing through the multitudes of people their to partake in the nights activities, in the heavy drinking, drug use or to jack into the matrix and shed the painful veneer of reality even if it was only for a single evening.

The man leaned across the bar to speak with a man in a white shirt and leather pants. “I’m here to see Jimmy.” He almost shouted to be heard over the noise. “I was told he needed some specialized help” he added as the bartender regarded him for a moment before jerking a thumb at a door by the end of the bar that said ‘Employees Only’ in faded red lettering.

As he made his way along the bar, towards the door, he found himself wondering who else they had called for this mysterious meeting…

Sanction wasn't exactly one of the places Irenlill liked to visit. It was dirty, polluted and inhabited by the worst scum of Krynn. But Jimmy had asked her to come and he usually paid good money for her services, so she had left her house in Palanthas without regret.

She walked quickly ignoring the people around her and the noise they made. It was raining and that annoyed her a lot. The rain ruined her hairstyle and only the gods knew how long time it took her to tease her long blue hair into the devilish shape she so much liked.

Her highheeled boots were not good for running, so she just kept a fast pace until she reached the liquid griffon. She headed for the toilet to check the damage the rain had caused to her hair.

She looked into the mirror and smiled satisfied. It was not as bad as she had imagined. Thank the gods for waterproof makeup and extra strong hairspray. She looked like herself: a young elf with big blue hair, gray almondshaped eyes lined with black eyeliner, pale skin and a tattoo of a red moon between her eyes, marking her as a mage who served Lunitari, goddess of twilight magic.

She smoothered the unexistent folds of her short pvc dress, applied a little black lipstick on her lips, put her lace gloves on and left the restroom. She had been in the liquid griffon a couple of times before, so she knew the way. She opened the door that said "employees only", walked down a corridor and entered the third room on the left.

"Hello Jimmy!" she said and sat down looking around. She noticed a darkhaired man she had never met before and smiled at him, then she lit a cigarette and waited for her boss to tell her what he wanted from her.

"Ah, Sanction... you'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and-"

"Oh shut up. You always bad mouth my home when you're here."

"Well I'm sorry, but I don't enjoy getting chased down the alleyways by the local Cyber-Taur gang. Damn minotaurs think they own the place. Why don't they go back where they belong? Big, metal horned freaks..."

"I said shut up man. Just drop it okay? I gotta head to my place and get some stuff, maybe hole up for the night. You comin'?"

"Nah, I'm gonna go get a beer."

"All right, but if they come after you again, you're a dead man."

"I'll keep that in mind Maverick. Later." he waved as the other man crossed the street.

"Later Garet."

*OH PALADINE WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN TO MAVERICK?!!* he thought as he ran down the rain soaked street.

"All right, but if they come after you again, you're a dead man."the words flashed through his mind.

"Oh god, oh god, I HATE THIS TOWN!" he yelled. Behind him half a block six Minotaurs were running to keep up, their hooves echoing down the street. The leader bore a pair of shiny chrome horns, light from the overhead streetlights glinted off of them. His right arm was cybernetic, as was most of his right leg. In fact, most of his right side was cybernetically augmented, hinting at a near fatal wound in the past. The other five members had been modified as well, though none as heavily as their leader.

"All right, but if they come after you again, you're a dead man." the words repeated in his brain.

Garet rounded a corner, running full bore down the street, looking for a place to hide. A neon signed blinked up ahead. Liquid Griffon.

*A bar. Perfect!* he thought, running for the door. Metal rang on metal as the Cyber-Taur leader opened fire with his shotgun, spraying lead down the street as Garet dove through the door into the bar.

IC: …The dark-haired human cocked his head to one side, his eyes narrowing as his hand leapt to his shoulder holster with a speed that was clearly inhuman, drawing the intimidating heavy weapon in a motion of speed that blurred into a haze.

“Gunshots.” He said simply, looking to Jimmy and then to the elf woman, his augmented vision clearly picking up the elf's Lunitari tattoo in vividly startingly colour and definition.

“You expecting trouble?” he asked, easing the hammer back on the revolver with an audible click as he moved to the door, keeping his movements slow so as not to overplay his boosted reflexes to anyone outside the door…

Irenlill looked curiously at the man.
"Yes, they are shooting but it's out in the street. It happens all the time in Sanction" she shrugged "That's why I hate this city so much. People never leave you in peace, they kill you for the fun of it. Is it your first time here?"

Zephyr pulled on her blouse as she tried helplessly to cover up the rest of her bleeding arm. A bar loomed right above her. A place where normally someone would have been able to find people to get help.
But this was Sanction. NOt the best place to be a single woman. And especially a magi. She shook her head, pushing her hair back to hide her elvish ears. Wrapping a piece of her torn blouse around her wrist she walked in with as much poise and dignity as possible.
Taking a seat that was closest to the furthest corner in the bar, she glanced up the bartender and offered a platic Arcane express card.
"I need a pint of your finest anything.. After today anyway.. Preferably in a clean glass." She sighed, looking to her Narvis time piece. It wasn't time yet... Soon though.

OOC: hey, krackah, is she in the same bar as the rest of us?

BIC: Garet combat rolled through the door of the Liquid Griphon. The bar was nearly empty, a few booths had occupants, but all the tables on the floor were empty, as were the stools at the bar.

"I need a gun, anybody got a gun?" he yelled out of breath.

"Yeah, if you can pry it from my cold dead fingers, bitch!" came from one of the shadowy booths.

"That's not what I need right now..." he mumbled, shaking his head and heading towards a door in the rear, searching for a backdoor.

"It figures, the only day I'm not packing my heat too!" he said loudly as another shotgun blast tore a large hole into the front door.

OOC: I would hope so, yes :)

Zephyr glanced curriously at the hole that suddenly appeared in the wall. Things like this were common place in sanction. Why should this shock her? She gently took a sip of her drink and slid a tiny silver disk into a small grey box that had a wire that looked as if it went right into her ear.
"Nothing like a little music to block out the death and carnage." She muttered to herself sighing.

IC: …The figure looked again to the elf, his heavy revolver was already in his hand and was reaching a gloved hand for the handle to the door, the revolver readied to fire as the door began to open.

“That was a little too close. Something going on I should know about” he said glancing over to Jimmy who shook his head vehemently and raised his hands in a show of innocence. The figure looked over to the elf with his bluer-than-blue eyes and slipped out of the doorway and into the main hall of the nightspot…

He had been sitting at the back of the bar, lost in shadows, despite being in the direct path of several light sources, adding to the mysterious demeanor he was all too accustomed to. Periodically, smoke biollowed out from where the dark figures face would have been, the small burst of firey light preceeding every exhalation..... a nasty habit, one he intended to kick, but not at present.

Di'Nal stood, emerging from the darkness in which he had hidden his face. He was not overtly tall, his height coming more so from the thick soled boots he wore, black with silver trimmings. The leather trousers were low rise and rested on his hips, the fitted black top was short sleeved. His eyes paid particular attention to the blue haired elf, whom reeked of magic..... the red circle denotting her a follower of the Crimson Lady..... he smiled..... he followed her dark cousin.

Dark hair was tied back tightly, and the silver throat torc gleamed in the light.....a single stone of black at the centre. Di'Nal wore no other adornment, save the single silver ring he wore on his right hand....and several tattoes that lined up his left arm.

He simly watched. Ready if needed........

Gatus weaved in and out of alleys and backroads, his hover bike's throttle pressed to the limit. He wore black combat boots, black leather pants, a gray longsleeve t-shirt, and a shin length black over coat. (basically a lot of black) As he rode his waist length white hair streamed behind him like a cape.

The jumpers chasing him were making shorter and shorter aumented leaps, not necesarily a good thing. The closest one took a long, high leap and landed on the back of Gat's bike swinging a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Gat ducked and swung up, holding on to the handel bar, as he arced up he kept himself in a ball. When he was level with the jumper he kicked out with both feet, rocketing the jumper backwards into another guy in mid leap.

Gat landed back on his bike realizing too late that he was heading streight for a bar with a griffon in lights. He tried to dodge but he was going to fast, as he hit the wall it gave way and he flew through cutting off his throttle and pulling up the freeze brake, the bike stoped and the engine was covered in liquid nitrogen. He got off and chained his bike to the bar. He looked out the hole in the wall and saw the jumpers skipping rooftops away.

Gat walked through the door saying employees only. he walked into the room where Jimmy was and sat down, "Hows it goin?'"

Irenlill shrugged. The man was overreacting and his curiousity could get him killed. But that was his own business, she would not put herself in danger because of a stranger.

Irenlill cocked her head and studied the newcomer. He looked like an interesting one and she wondered who he was.
"How many people have you invited? What is this all about?" she asked Jimmy while she searched for her laptop in her small metal bag.

When she took it out, it was only a few cm. long, so she whispered a few magical words and it went back to its normal size. She logged in, found her spell archive and started studying while she waited for Jimmy to tell them what they were supposed to do.

A human-looking woman sat in a dark corner of the Liquid Griffon. As usual, she watched the bar around her with a distant curiousity in her teal-green eyes. Her lush, crimson lips parted slightly to admit a thick, red liquid pass through via a wine glass.

Annack flicked a dark tendril of hair over her shoulder and stood up, pointedly ignoring the usual scenes of death and carnage that was the norm in Sanction. She took a last drink of her wine and placed the glass on the bar as she passed, heading for a door marked 'Employees Only'.

The pale-skinned young woman seemed to glide as she walked and was dressed in black leather from head to toe.

"How many people have you invited? What is this all about?" she asked Jimmy while she searched for her laptop in her small metal bag.

"Only a few more," Annack smiled as she entered the room, an exotic accent making her voice seem to flow like water in a waterfall.

She glanced at Jimmy and gave him a near-inperceptable nod and sat down. "The rest should be here soon enough."

A large man walked passed the bar, eyeing the whole curiously before entering the door. His heavily cybernetic arms gleamed in the light. After a glance to the bartender, he proceaded into the back room. "Sorry I'm late Jimmy, I had trouble finding a place to park." The man wore industrial coveralls, similar to those used by garbage men, with concealed armor in the fabric, but no obvious weapons. He also had a large jack in the back of his neck, and a smaller one at his temple.

Turning to the other people in the room, he introduced himself. "I'm Lifter, I'll be your rigger for this run."

(OOC: For those not familiar with the shadowrun term, a rigger is somebody who connects their vehicle to their brain and drive it cyberneticly. And don't worry, his car can carry everyone, and the bike.)

He reached up to scratch his head and tapped his left temple 4 times, his eye scaner quickly designated everything in the room, running x-ray, thermal and radio-signal scans. he saw the armor in Lifter's clothes, the guns that everyone was carrying (what they wanted him to see anyway)

Annack nodded her head to Lifter. "Good to see a competent-looking rigger for one," she smirked. As nothing much seemed to be going on at the present, the woman tapped a chip on her wrist into life and a holo-vid appeared, though the sound chip was in her ear and no one else could hear it. She watched a new fighting-instruction program and mentally noted the changes from previous styles.

When he scanned Annack, a couple daggers and guns could be found, as well as armor that seemed to be a part of her rather than covering her--it was as if it has been intergrated into her skin.

IC: As the new figures entered the room, Dante moved away from the door and moved to a clear space where he put his back to the wall and contented himself to watch the newcomers with his intensely blue eyes as he slid the ‘hand-cannon’ back into its shoulder rig.

As the scan from Gat’s cyberoptics viewed the man, a small arsenal of weapons seemed to be secreted in holsters and harness concealed cleverly under the armored leather longcoat he wore.

He gave a nod to each individual as they entered, keeping his movements slow and deliberate if he had to move at all, so as to not tip his cybernetic enhancements courtesy of a four year position as bodyguard to the archiver Astinus.

“What was all the gunfire about outside?” he asked Lifter simply as the big man entered the room…

"Just some minotaur punks chasing a guy." Lifter replied. "They seam to have had a run-in with a leaper gang now, and are having it out with each other. My money's on the Minotaurs."

The scan of the rigger actually showed no guns at all, just some rather curious cyberware within the arms.

...Instead what entered through the door was a young girl who looked like she could barely be older than her mid teens. Her hair was dark, liker clothing, and the clothing she wore looked almost antiquated...like it was a few decades out of style. Her face bore a neutral and almost bland expression as she entered and bowed in deferrence towards Jimmy.

"I apologise for being tardy, Mr. Jimmy," the girl said quietly, "My name is Aslyn Raeth, and I am answering your summons for the task you had mentioned in your message."
