OOC: …I thought I’d post my first thread on the RPGC. After reading some of the longer threads on this forum it became hard to work out what exactly was going on, though it seems a shame to have missed out on some of them. I thought I’d try an idea I had here, about writing about the Second War of the Lance during the Age of Mortals and after the supposed death of the Dark Queen from both sides of the tale. One thread for the Forces of Light and another for the Forces of Darkness. Feel free to join, my only stipulation is that you present a single character only rather than a dozen (it gets too confusing). As you may guess from the prologue below this thread is dedicated to the villains of the War...

IC: ...The blackened marble hall seemed to drink the light which sputtered a sickly translucent green from the hideous gargoyle sconces carved into the wall. The highest arch was lost to the darkness some forty meters above, but glinting wetly from their positions, shone the lights of thousands of diamonds, each accurately depicting a true constellation found in the night’s sky above, mimicking the illusion of Ansalon’s sky almost 60 meters below the surface. At its centre was the constellation of the Five-Headed Dragon, also known as Takhisis, the Dark Queen.

60 meters below the broken temple of Takhisis lay this vault, untouched until only a few months earlier, since the end of the War of the Lance and the fall of Neraka to the forces of the Whitestone Council so many years earlier thanks to the efforts of the thrice-cursed Heroes of the Lance.

A large stone table, which seemed to rise from the same stone as the floor, sat in the centre of the room, its surface carved in the slightest of bas-reliefs to depict cavorting dragons and demons from her Dark Majesty’s Abyss, all captured forever in their hideous visage in the darkened stone. The sickly green light of the torches seemed to give them grotesque movement as the shadows flickered across their features. Five high backed chairs sat at equal points around the table, flowing seamlessly from the floor by the same means as the onyx table. The back of each chair was sculpted in the demonic visage of a dragon, their long serpentine necks sweeping high and arching malevolently over the table, some ten feet above. Each was different, and each designed to represent the one of the metallic dragons of whom Takhisis was the Patron. In the place of eyes were two jewels, each the size of an ogres fist, each colored to the specific form of the Dragon it was set to.

Servants clad in silken gowns of gossamer black, placed heavy platinum goblets, encrusted with gems and worked into draconic representations, upon the table as the echoes of a gong rang through the halls. The servants cast a quick glance to each other, their eyes widening in silent, understood fear. The sounds of booted feet, echoed in the shadowed halls as the five retinues entered from their respective tunnels that lead to their personal dragons rookeries. The new Dragon Highlords of Neraka had at last arrived.

In the shadowy recesses of the giant room, a figure stood, clothed in hooded black robes that seemingly drank the sickly pale light around them. Harkaziel the shaper, last of the Progenitor Red Dragons and the once mortal consort to the Dark Queen herself, stood in his human form to observe the arrival of these new generals. He had slumbered for aons, wakening from his ancient slumber at the soul-rending ethereal dirge of his beloved Queen at the hand of these petty, small creatures. He would have his vengeance on this world in the name of his dead Goddess, he would herald his return with flames and despair…

Of the newly arriving Dragon highlords, one was immediately noticeable. Though their armor matched one another, minus a few personal modifications and different shades of color, one stood a head above the others. His helm made to mimic the majesty of a roaring Black dragon, the man (or woman) was clearly upwards of seven feet tall OUT of the armor. He stood quietly at the sides of his brethren, awaiting further orders.

The ancient dragon swept forward, his ebony robes trailing across the dark marble floor as he approached the table of the Highlords, his frame was tall in this form, well over eight feet and powerfully built with draconic features that blended sinnisterly with those of a human. The darkened robe of silk hung open at the front to reveal his bare chest, inked with arcane symbols and tattoos of a complexity that beleaguered the human mind.

Aons of torment and destruction lay behind the cold black eyes akin to those of a shark, he had moved and plotted as he thought his beloved queen would have wished, assembling an army in secret that modeled her own previous attempt at conquering the world. Though he personally despised the soft ignorant mortals, Harkaziel had used them in his ancient schemes to pay homage to Tahkisis.

He stood here now rapping his fingers upon the table of cavorting demons, each finger covered with a three sectioned ring that left the joints bare and ended with a sharp talon of corrupted dragonsteel. His impatience at waiting grew…

IC: …From the direction of the Blue Dragon rookeries came the sound of armoured footsteps echoing loudly in the near darkness as they came towards the central chamber. A figure emerged from the darkness, skin as pale as the snow, and drawn tight over features that would have seemed handsome, if they were not so cold and cast in cruelty.

In the sickly light of the chamber strode a man clad in armour of blackened steel, the metal worked in grim representations of thousands of tiny screaming skulls, threaded with thorns that wound their way though mouth and empty eye sockets in a vista of unending pain.

Ebon hair hang straight and as unblemished as the light of Nuitari to the middle of his back and upon his gauntleted hand he bore the obsidian crest of Tahkisis' five headed dragon. Eyes of startling blue scanned the chamber, first taking in the form of Harkaziel and then the Highlord of the Black Dragon Army without a flicker of emotion. The Lord of Night, the new commander of the dread Knights of Neraka had arrived…

Vertigo sat in her chamber and waited for the right moment to make her entrance. She would let the rest of the highlords wait for a while. She liked to impress and she was quite good at it.

Her chamber was white, like her dragons, like the armors worn by her soldiers and like herself. Long white hair, marble white skin, a simple white dress with deep slits on the sides and a white crystal sceptre. The only coloured thing about her were her blood red eyes.

Her beauty was as cold as the ice she loved to be surrounded by. Big ice cubes kept the temperature of the chamber as low as possible and never melted. Noone knew her age or her race. Her pointed ears could witness an elven heritage, but noone was sure and she never talked about her origins.

Slightly bored she went to the adiacent room where one of her favourite slaves was chained to the wall for her amusement. She caressed a studded whip with her slender hands, then she started whipping the man until the red marks on his back started bleeding. She stepped closer with a look of delight in her red eyes and licked the blood away.

The blood coloured her thin lips and she laughed in ecstasy enjoying its sweet taste. Then she called a servant and ordered him to take her toy away. It was almost time to join the other highlords.

OOC: Don't worry, she is not a vampire ;)

OOC: …XmageX it is actually really good, but Glasswalker is right it sounds as though it belongs with the other post with a similar name. :)

IC (as Harkaziel): …The ancient red dragon looked across those assembled before it with some degree of disgust, hidden behind its alien black eyes. It’s displeasure at waiting grew and would have gladly reached over to kill one of the servants if it wouldn’t have displayed the beasts emotions to the Highlords before it.

“We await the arrival of the White Highlord only,” its deep draconic voice rumbled and echoed softly in the sickly darkness of the great chamber. He had dispatched the Green Highlord himself only days earlier to deal with certain problems before they grew into annoyances. Harkaziel was always thorough, and just as ruthless. He would see Krynn burn before his eyes…

IC (As Marafyce): …The Blue Highlord and Lord of the Knights of Neraka stepped over to his seat, admiring the sinister appartion of the Blue Dragon sculpture. He nodded to the other Highghlords and adjusted his sword belt before taking his seat at the demonic table.

The Dark-Knight looked to the figure of Harkaziel, it had been 6 months since the creature had approached him with the proposition of waging war upon the Whitestone council and the Knights of Solamnia. He had readily accepted as his own knighthood was still reeling at the death of Tahkisis and the loss of its two recent Lords or Night, Mina and Targonne. It was obvious that the knight didn’t trust Harkaziel but then he didn’t trust any of the other Highlords either.

“Lord Harkaziel, the blue dragon army stands ready, as do the Knights of Tahkisis” he said in his dry, cold voice…

"The other highlords are waiting for you, your highness. They seem to be quite impatient" said a young servant looking very uncomfortable.
Vertigo rolled her eyes and shot the poor guy an angry glance.
"Get out of here" she hissed. Pathetic creature she thought. Well, maybe I should be going before that pitiful Harkaziel gets too angry

With an evil grin on her beautiful face she took her sceptre and left her chamber.
Her arrival was announced by a cold wind and the floor turned into ice the places where she stepped. She didn't look at anyone, just headed selfconfidently toward her seat, her white dress fluttering around her . Pointing her sceptre at her chair she transformed it into an ice sculpture.
She sat down and waited for the meeting to begin.

IC (as Harkazial): …The transformed dragon looked to those seated at the table around him with his dead black eyes as if weighing each individual as one does a piece in the game of Kass. He removed his steel encased fingers from the table and stood to his full height, allowing the heat that rose from his body to blister the marble floor beneath his bare feet. His dark eyes flashed red briefly before he began to speak.

“Your orders are very plain and easily understandable even for the likes of you.” He boomed, while eyeing the Highlords. “I require only a few things from you, but in return you may have this land when we have crushed all opposition upon it. I care not how you divide the spoils or if you kill yourselves over the land in the process. But that will wait until later. Until after we have avenged the death of the Dark Queen.”

The ancient Dragon shifted and looked to those at the table, judging the reactions on their faces or the listening to the sounds of the heartbeats quickening in the confines of the darkened room…

" They may try and provoke you. Do not rise to the bait. It will endanger the both of us." Pyre was 1/4 fire elemental, ad had recently deposed the former Highlord mount, Flameblade. "Harkaziel, can't you just tell us what you want us to do. IC (As Harkaziel): …The powerfull figure growled, a deep primal sound that reverberated the chamber, a sound that had shown displeasure when the world of Krynn was still young. He swept his dead eyes to the form of the White Highlord and then to the others.

“As we speak, the forces of the Green Dragonarmy assault the town of Solace and the former lands of the Qualinesti and the forest of Wayreth. If you wish to squabble over one pathetic human village then you may do so during your own time Highlord Lirana.”

“I want the Tomb of the manling Huma.” Growled the dragon. “My acolytes tell me it is located in Ergoth somewhere, the exact location is lost in time. I thought it best that the whelp known as Gellidus learns his place in my order, learns that this is not his world. Teach him that lesson Lirana, teach him it with tongues of flame.” He spoke his teeth gnashing and his words rumbling with the powerful voice of the dragon.

The dark eyes moved to take in the Highlord of the Black Armies. “Good. I want Palanthus taken and its people made to pay for their eternal opposition to the Dark Queen. The High Clerist Tower will indeed fall to our cause. Make Solamnia pay for its past interferences, cast the black shadow across the lands of Solamnia and make them understand the name Tahkisis is still one to tremble and fear.”

His eyes flickered to the White Highlord again. “Highlord Vertigo, your armies will move southwards and into Silvanesti, take the lands from the Minotaur comquerors and then make the elves pay and pay dearly. Her Dark Majesty was slain by these things and they shall know suffering like no others upon this world.”

“Show them the white veil of death, show them their doomed future.” He said quietly, his voice still rumbled menacingly though softer and more sinister. He turned to the Blue Highlord.

“Highlord Marafyce, there are things that I require from the City of Sanction. Take that city and hold it, we will use Sanction as our heart, relaying supplies and troops from there if required. This place shall remain secret, here only for the council of the Highlords…”

"Agliabudrifoss, be ready, we fly to Palanthas tonight." thought the Highlord.
"Whatever, human."
"I thought told you to call me master, dragon!"
"And I thought I told you to prove it!" countered the dragon. "You killed my former master, that doesn't make you mine now."
"Then why do you follow me dragon?!"
"I follow the great Dragon Mother herself, and her only little human. It is her will and her will alone that I follow your orders."The school year has just begun and already the shootings have started. Silvanesti... Oh, yes, Silvanesti will be mine. Soon.. The minotaurs will be slaughtered. Ugly, brutal beasts... I don't need them in my kingdom. But elves, so delicate and beautiful. They will make perfect slaves, perfect toys. I will bathe in their sweet blood
