In Search of Magic

This is set up during the time frame of the Fifth Age…so do whatever you want with it

IC: The mist enshrouded her, blanketing itself over the slender form of her body and permeating through the thin layer of clothing she wore. Erylaen stood on edge of the Qualinesti river, her eyes were enraptured by the strangeness of this new moon, as dark clouds crossed over it, casting a darker shade of light over Krynn.

The many branches on the giant tree beside her swayed with passive emotion, as if sympathizing with her inner turmoil. The little creatures of the lush forest made no sound, waiting as if holding their breath for the event that was about to take place.
She bid for it to come, her lips parted slightly and out came a series of guttural chant. Nothing happened.
She tried it again, her voice growing stronger this time. Nothing happened.
She could hear a note of desperation now a sign of weakness that she had always destested…still….nothing happened.

Erylaen then let out an inhuman howl that reverberated throughout the forest, in it contained all her fury her, pent up frustration of the injustices of the world. She dropped down onto the earth and kneeled, her long hair falling in a cluster of black sea at around her on the soft ground. She prayed for a slight answer to what she wanted, to feel that familiar essence within her and around her.

She gave a wild sob. Nothing, not even a shred of anything. The magic was all gone, she did not feel it anymore. She gathered her long white skirts around her and stilled herself still kneeling.
She refuse to believe, because she cannot believe it. The magic that had been so intertwined into her daily life, the lessons that she had been taught, they cannot simply cease to exist just because the gods had left.

She raised her long slender hand and tucked the long bang away from her face revealing a face shaped by dark brows and noble features. In the thicket of her hair, a faint tip of her ear could be seen.
If the magic did not come to her, then she would come to it. She will find it, even if it means she must leave her beloved land behind, the forest that was her family. Even if it means she would jeopardize her life in a harsh foreign land.

She gathered her belongings and stepped into the direction towards Qualinesti’s neibor, Solace, in which from thereon she would travel to Neraka, the last place in which she heard that magic still exist, however dark….

OOC: I like it and I will join if it's ok with you. I will use my character Cherizal as she is a mage (red robe, dark elf from Silvanesti) and I think she will fit here. I've never used her before in a thread set in the 5th age, so it's going to be interesting. I will write a post tomorrow. Now I am tired and I'd better go to sleep.

OOC: As you said you're heading to Solace, I guess we can meet there. And sorry about my English, I do my best, but sometimes I really can't find the right words!

BIC: Cherizal stopped and looked up to the big vallenwood tree whose branches the Inn of the Last Home was built in. She was lost in memories of the past for a while. She had spent a few days at the inn before the war of the lance. Many years had passed and she had constantly wandered through Ansalon, but she had stayed away from Solace, because of memories she didn't want to be confronted with. And now she was back, something had driven her back to this place. She didn't know what it was, she just hoped it would not be a bad surprise.

120 years old, she was still a young elf, but she had changed since the war of Chaos. She had lost lots of weight and felt now as frail as a very old woman. Her fine features had sharpened, her thin lips were bloodless, her pale skin was tinged with gray and her bright blue eyes had turned into black pools of sorrow and despair. A red moon prouded the space between her brows. She had tattoed it by herself after the end of the war to show that, even if the gods had left, she still served Lunitari in her heart.

She still wore her blood red robes of soft velvet, even if it didn't mean so much anymore. She was a mage without magic.
Magic had been the only thing she had lived for after she had been cast out of Silvanesti for serving the gods of twilight. Now it was gone and her life had no meaning anymore, it was just a constant pain. Being an elf, even if a dark one, she considered life sacred and would never take her own life, even if she had often wished she could.

She missed the feeling of the magic running through her veins, she missed the ecstasy, the power, the comunion with her goddess... She was empty, nothing more than a pathetic shell.

Driven by her despair, she had tried to use wild magic and to find artifacts that still held the power, but what was left was too little and too unstable.

She made an angry gesture, disappointed with herself for lingering on painful things she could do nothing about. She climbed up to the door of the inn and entered the room filled with people from the town and a few travelers. She found a small table in the shadows and ordered a glass of wine and some of the famous spiced potatoes, then she tried to relax a bit and enjoy being in a warm, friendly place again after a long and difficult journey.

ooc~ i may be a little rusty cause i haven't done this in a while but here goes...

Unedë walked ansiosly down the road, her black cloak whispering about her ankles. Her black hood was drawn up over her delicate elven facade. Since the colors of a magic-users cloak was determined good, nuetral or evil, she decided o wear black to blend in with the night.

Gracefully walking down the road from Solace, just seeing the inn of The Last Home. Seeing a figure hunkered down she wondered what it was. Unedë still had some magic buit not much.

Unedë spoke the spidery words of magic, hoping and praying that it would work. "Nido heith thider, lath tho beth nic, rimmo ne ployien la nin woy lier" After a few moments of stalling the light suddenly flickered and the flames danced in her delicate hand.

Towering closer to the figure, she watched. The Night was cold on the road was long, only one dared to roam it, that one... was Ice... Did you Dare To Travel With Her?

OOC: This hread looks good, erylaen!:) I'll send in my only mage character, Airin, and if it's ok with you, i'll probably introduce someone else when i've thought on it for awhile.

IC: Airin alked slowly along the desolated halls, with measured tread and a quiet and calm air. But inside, he was a sea of turmoil. Last night, he had wasted all of his strength, searchign for even a shred of magic, to feel the warmth in his blood once more, to bring light and life to Wayreth once again.

And had been dissappointed beyond his most terrifying dreams. Without the magic, he was no one, nothing, and helpless. His black velvet robes that had always been warm and comfortable to the touch, were cold and lifeless. The mortals would walk the world, here in this final age, before the end. So Dalamar Argent, master of the black robes had spoken before departing. He felt robbed and bitter.

The war had also taken his beloved from him, by the Dark Knights. He could still see Shadela's opal face from beneath her dark hair as the knights marched her away. He bowed his head. All was gone, the magic, the way of life, his love. As he left the building, for the final time, heading towards Solace. theonce beautiful building was dakr and empty, with terrified former mages still scurrying about in the empty halls. He smiled bitterly: they would find nothing just as he had found nothing. There was nothing left for him, he thought, as he walked toward Solace. No Shadela, no magic, nothing. The words of Steel Brightblade and Chaos came to his head.......
*Chaos pointed at the Solamnic Knights. "Paladine is dead! You fight alone." Chaos turned to the dark knights. "Takhisis is fled. You fight alone."
Chaos spread his enormous arms, which seemed to encompass the universe.
"There is no hope. You have no gods. What have you left?"
Steel drew his sword and raised it in the air. The metal did not reflect the fire, but shone white, argent, like moonlight on ice.
"Each other," he answered.*

OOC: Oh gosh..im thrilled at the characters being developed here...especially from such an excellent group of rpers. And as for the writing skills ,yours are all admirable. i myself have much room for more improvement, and i hope it would only develope further upon observing your rping.

IC: The horse stood patiently as it saw its master arrive. Unlike any other horses it was one of teh most loyal and obedient creatures that there is, qualities that Erylaen had immediately spotted upon purchasing for tonight's travel.
Erylaen grabbed the cloak she had placed on the back of the scruffy hourse and wrapped it tightly around herself. She raised her foot and placed it on the stirrup and mounted with ease onto the saddle.
Her mountain of raven hair disappeared as she drew the hood of her cloak ove rher head.
A sound from behind quickly brought her to attention. A trickle of fear ran through her. No one must know that she was leaving, not until she had a good night's joureny ahead of her pursuers.
Her keen ears prick to the sound of autumn leaves cruching, to the brisk brush of an incoming branch.

She dug the side of her slipper into the horse's flank. Within an instant the horse sprung away, heading down to the narrow dirt pathyway. Just before she rode off, her heart almost skipped a beat. A flash of streak of black hair and cool eyes entered the rim of her vision.
COuld it be? Is it him?
It was too late to confirm it as the horse gallopped further down turning around the bend and disappearing behind the thick brambles that cluttered the surface floor of the forest.

OOC: *Blushes* :P:D We're not all THAT good....your very good for a begginner(or anyone). :):)

BIC: Airin walked along the path. The sky was overcast, and the wind scattered the dead leaves, flinging them into a frenzied dance which he found mocking, resting dead being manipulated and puppeteered into a grim dance. He could see the tall vallenwoods not far away, and passed through a small section of the path where the sides of a hill rose up, forming a small gully. He waled along, lost in his own thoughts, when suddenly a draconian leapt out from one of the sides and landed in front of him. A goblin and a hobgoblin followed suit, and quickly surrounded him. Out flashed his sword, and the draconian was suddenly lacking a head. The hobgoblin lumbered up, and spat "Scrollspeaker!" scornfully.

He took a blow from it's sword to his right arm, and pinned it to a tree with his dagger. It howled in pain as the other goblin, whirling a machete, struck at him from the back. "I want him alive! He can get us to Wayreth!" Came a female voice, oddly familiar. The goblin grunted, and swung the machete, hitting his left shoulder.

He yielded, and hit it in the stomach. Suddenly a blow to his calf crumpled him. He rolled over, and looked up at a woman staring down at him, her expression a mixture of scornful pity, and revulsion over her elven features, which were strangely familiar..... He couldn't place her, and with his dagger, slashed at her forearm, and pulled himself up. He pressed the dagger to her throat. "Who are you??! Where do I know you from?!" He asked . She struggled fruitlessly, and said boldly, "The name's Sable Argent, Dalamar Argent the dark's daughter. You better let me go or else there'll be hell to pay." Airin gave a barking laugh, a madman's laugh.

"Dalamar's gone. And you and yyour frineds will escort me to town. " He mrched towards the tall trees, dagger still at her throat.

OOC2: Cherizal, should Airin know your char from renegade? We all are faced with choices: choices that we regret, choices that we hate, and choices that we fear. But somehow we make these choices, and life moves on, because in truth, the choices make us.

Cherizal
10/03/2003 4:14 AM

OOC: Yes, if we want to be coherent, then Cherizal and Airin should know each other. Cherizal won't be happy to meet Airin, she really hates him :(
And Angel, if Dalamar had a daughter, she would max be 30-40 years old, that means a child, about 10 years old. And Dalamar wouldn't be pleased to be called Argent, he stopped using that name after being cast out and took the name Nightson instead. Sorry, but I like things to be right!

BIC: The potatoes tasted good. Cherizal hadn't eaten so well or so much for weeks, or maybe longer. She didn't really care about food anymore. She sighed, shoved the plate aside and took a sip of wine, then with nervous hands she found something in her pack.

It was a small silver bottle with runes carved on the lower part. She had found it during her last journey, a kind of pilgrimage to the borders of Silvanesti. She had gone there to examine the barrier that had been raised to protect her homeland from the rest of the world. Or maybe she had just gone there to feel more pain. It was almost like she enjoyed the pain because it was the only thing that let her know she was still alive.

She had stayed there observing the shield for days not really knowing what she was doing there. Then a small party of curious kender had come. She had felt annoyed by their chatting, but she had sensed that one of them possessed some magic. The kender hadn't been aware of this and had happily given her the bottle in exchange for a few colourful but worthless objects Cherizal had had in her pack.

Her hands closed round the bottle and she felt a gentle prickle in her fingertips. Magic. She closed her eyes and let it fill her body. It was like a drug and she was addicted. The worst thing was that its power had diminished since she had found it and she was afraid it would be completely gone in a few weeks. She believed it was the artifact that had guided her to Solace
I wonder why.. What or who is waiting for me here? Will I get my magic back she almost didn't dare to hope it could be so.

OOC:OKay. And cherizal, Sable was born right after Dalamar was thrown out of silvanesti. And HE didn't like "argent" but he thought that it fitted her. And Airin won't be peased to see Cherizal either, after all, she threatened his now gone love, Shadela. We all are faced with choices: choices that we regret, choices that we hate, and choices that we fear. But somehow we make these choices, and life moves on, because in truth, the choices make us.

OOC: We are after the war of Chaos, that means it's been about 30-40 years since Dalamar was cast out of Silvanesti. He's about the same age as Cherizal. And Cherizal didn't threaten Shadela, she just wanted Airin to tell the truth and said she would cast a spell to see who or what he was hiding. She never intended to cause her any harm and she told Airin, if you remember.

OOC: i hear ya.

The sound of horse beat filled the silent gaps of the night.
Erylaen at last brought the scruffy mare to a halt at the front step of the well known inn.
She dismounted from the horse and led it into a stable nearby. She tightened the cloak around her lithe body and readjusted the loose strands of hair that had escaped her bind during her travel. Her right side ached from the concealed dagger that had unfortunately not been positioned correctly when she had ridden. Just before she climbed up to the inn and enter, she pulled the hood of her cloak down, enshrouding her sharp elven features.

The strong smell of beer was the first thing that assailed her keen sense and she involuntarily crinkled her nose in disgust. There was a small crowd tonight yet the alcohol usage was unmercifully strong.
She quickly spotted an empty table at the far corner and walked towards it, the skirts underneath her cloak rustling as she moved.
A strange feeling drew her attention towards the shadow, where a woman, not so unlike herself was cloaked in obscurity. Curiosity kept her glancing constantly over yonder.
Just then, a sour looking woman came immediately to serve her.
“What d’ ye want?” Faral asked in a monotone. This was just another customer, another traveler. She had met so many of them like this before, all cloaked up in mystique that she had ceased to become interested. Life was bland, she had since agreed. To assume that it is an adventure is to deceive oneself into a state of misery. Truth be told, she had deceived herself a lot of times, and found disappointment one after another, as they all disappeared.
Erylaen unfolded her hands from within the cloak and set it on the table, revealing long slender fingers. “A cup of tea please,” she responded softly.
Faral snorted. A cup of tea, indeed. What a nice introduction to intrigue. There was a strong accent in this lady’s voice, yet it was spoken with such refines, that Faral’s mind twitched with envy. This was definitely another elf, alright. Her gaze shifted to the other woman sitting alone in the shadow. As if one in the inn wasn’t enough already.
“Is that all ye be wanting?”
“Yes, please.”
Faral gave another snort and walked away to make the order.

I ask specifially becuase she's a demigoddess (Her mother is Tahkisis...it's a long story)...Anyway, i know some people would rather it remain slightly less complicated and keep her out. Not as in insult, by the way. But I think she would fit in well here. SHe's a black robe (c'mon, her mother IS the Dark Queen) and becuase of being part god she'd still retain a bit of magic. Being spiteful and evil like she is, she's ver reluctant to show it, so in reality she's no better of then others. BIC: Airin entered the village. He frowned. "How can you be Dalamar Argent's daughter? You should be a child." She glared. "I was born when he was still in Silvanesti. He would have been the equivalent of an 18 year old when I was born." Airin raised an eyebrow. "I'm releasing you now. Don't follow me." He went through the village, to the inn. He entered, and got a room for the night. As he walked towards a table to wait for food, he spotted the face he loathed. ~Cherizal?!~ Sprang through his head. He faced. "What the hell are you doing here?" he hissed.

OOC: Of course Pod, the more variety the better!

Faral brushed pass a burly man, catching a wift of reeking filth. She approached the table and brought the cup of tea down on the table with a thump, splushing the tea just enough to trickle down at the rim.
"Here's yer tea." Seeing the woman fumbling around for a coin, she added dryly. " 'tis on the house, 'til ye can take it upon yerself to order more than mere water."
Erylaen felt heat surging on her face. She felt insulted at this simple woman. Finally finding her money pouch she withdrew a coin and tossed it onto the table.
"I have no need for your charity," she said coldly.
Erylaen expected another snort from this uncouth woman, but was wrong.
Faral scoffed. "Elves, ye and yer arrogance." She snatched the coin and turned abruptly away.

Erylaen returned her gaze at the woman in the corner and realized quickly her folly. She could ahve used this woman to learn more about that person in the corner, but it was too late.
With grim puprose she stood up, with tea in hand and step slowly towards the red rrobed woman.

Karina watched the exchange from a far corner of the Inn of the Last Home. Her own black robes blended in with the shadows in such a way she'd be practically impossible to see. Even If one made out the figure, male, female, human, elf, it would be imossible to recognize exactly what it was. And when you drew closer, it really appeared that there was no one there it all.

This was best for them, and for Karina as well. For her appearnce would frighten anyone. Tall, clad in solid black (being a black robed magess and all) was slightly intimidating. Add inthe fact her eyes were solid black orbs, her skin was a permenant shade of grey, and hips were really ebony, an people would freak out.(http://images.quizilla.com/T/trinitykills/1053662988_z3thetwins.jpg" border="0)want it.

BIC: Airin gave a cold laugh. "Let me guess: your here to look for the magic, just like the rest of us. It's gone Chrizal, just like Shadela and the gods. It's the age of mortals, an age of darkness. There is no hope, just emptiness." (he's going a bit crazy) He laughed again, harshly. He sat across the table from her, and gave a worn smile. He noticed a dark robe figureacross theroom. Probably another forlorn mage. "We may have had our differences, yet I always found you an excllent mage, worthy of respect."

---------------------------------------------Sable
Sable stared up into the tree where the dark mage had gone. She felt weird, and confused. She had the urge to follow him, and didn't know why. She shook her head, and walked away. She managed to find Jaxar, her goblin friend. his red frame was lean and wiry, and he appeared to be fairly unhurt. The Bozak, Kilerom was merely hurt, not dead. Garret, their former renegade mage was unharmed. Fiolerm, and Joli, the sivak and the hobgoblin were both dead. She sighed, and gathered up her band. as they started away from Solace, a sharp bolt of pain pierced her collarbone. Gasping in pain, she felt her neck for wounds, and her fingers brushed against her sea-shell necklace, and it was burning cold.

She marveled, and wondered what t meant. "Wait " she said. "let's go back to Solace-we can hole up at the inn, and get a healer for Kilerom." Jaxar, who was supporting Kilerom, grunted and turned around. Garret went up to her. "Sable, is something wrong?" he asked. "No, I just think that a warm bed would be a nice change for tonight." She smiled, and he followed Jaxar, shaking his head. As she walked towards Solace, the sea-shel warmed up, and felt comforting in her hand, like it belonged there.

She was startled. ~Could it be magic?~ she wondered. ~Magic that somehow survived the departure of the gods??!!~ She had to see that black robe again and ask him.......We all are faced with choices: choices that we regret, choices that we hate, and choices that we fear. OCC: I'm new at this. sorry if it sounds out-of-place...

Night was approaching fast in Solace. The drunkards in front of her were being extremely irritating. If she had magic right now, she would simply and keenly remove them from their pitiful state for having disrupted her peace of mind.

All she wanted was a day off from the depressing truth and the reality of that. The unrelenting truth that the magic was utterly gone. Her life as it was for twenty-one summers was now non-existent. Her powers that grew since her childhood, was now... nothing. The guild that turned her into a powerful mage had been abandoned and everyone that she knew and cared about deserted her in their despair.

Deylee glared at the distasteful and inferior beings in front of her. Oh how they gall her! This place has nothing left for me here she thought, grimly sipping away her ale. She slam down her empty glass of ale making a loud bang. The group of sobs glanced at her nonchalantly and continued on their casual conversation. She abruptly got up from her table, knocked an empty chair out of her way, and quickly brushed pass a reeking crowd, and a raven-hair elf.

Outside, the stars were glowing like fire-flies. The dark sky was a beauty. But yet, it seems vacant, like it was missing something, some part of its heavenly body. she gazed at it, trying desperately to find out the missing factor.

...The moons, she finally acknowledge sadly. The seven moons.

Sighing she continued on, seeing someone exit the inn she watched slightly, her elven eyes seeing the maiden very clearly in the dark. She walked up to her.

Erylaen paused in her stride towards the woman. Then a tall woman brushed passed her, spilling the warm tea she held in her hands onto her robes. Instead of an apologies, the woman simply continued to passed her and exited the inn, leaving Erylaen staring balefully at her retreating back.

HOw rude can these humans be, Erylaen fumed? First the oafish waitress, now this!
But the interruption bid her time to pause and look back to the woman sitting in the corner. A man appeared to be speaking to her, situating himself imposingly at the opposite side of her.

Erylaen watched as they exchanged words...no, wait, was it anger she sense in their conversation?
The more she observed the scene, the more it spoke to her, unfolding, not clearly in words but in manners.
The woman obviously did notlike the man. There was a sebse of desperation about her, that made it clear to Erylaen that she was trying to avoid something.

Downing what was left of the tea, she set it on an empty table and marched forward towards the table determined to help the woman out.

|*|Greetings My Lady. What bring you out on this night?|*|

Hearing the soft melodic voice of an elf, Deylee promptly turned her head away from the enchantment of the night sky, and glared into the hood of the mysteriously cloaked elf. In the depth of the dark hood she saw two pair of piercing blue eyes staring back at her in questioning wonderment.
She briskly reply “Greetings elf, but what is it to you if I am out enjoying myself on this soulful night?”

Sable walked through the village, taking her turn helping Kileromi along.
The night was dark, and brooding. Above, the unfriendly skies glared down at the mortals who had no idea what this age meant. The moon looked disfigured, lopsided. Only one part of the skies seemed to care: a warm, red star that glowed like a fire welcoming her home. Looking at it, an image flashed into her mind: a kender in a topknot and blue leggings jabbering away while a dwarf, swigging from a flask tended a forge. as soon as it had come, it was gone. "Can you make it to the inn, Kileromi?"she asked. The Bozak snarled.

"I'll make it fine. You we got to worry about. Running off after mages." She laughed.
"That should't be funny, but it is." She went up to the door of the inn, and entered, followed by Garret and Jaxar. She saw that there seemed to be many mages there, and picked the mage from earlier out from the crowd. She deposited Kileromi with Jaxar, and Garret went about getting rooms.

She went up to the bar, and took a seat. She subtely, drinking the wine she had ordered, watched the black robe.We all are faced with choices: choices that we regret, choices that we hate, and choices that we fear. "This is not about keeping feuds alive, Airin. That's much more simple than that. I don't like you, I despise you and I want you out of my way." saying those words, she put her little bottle back in her pack, then she raised and went to the counter where she paid for a room.

She was angry because she hadn't had a chance to talk to the white robed elf, but she couldn't stand Airin's presence any longer. She had to leave. Sighing she took her key and left the common room.

I smell trouble, Faral thought, when she noticed the woman and her companions, one of them a nasty looking goblin walking in. Then the others left to find a room, leaving the woman to sit alone. She had been a waitress too long to not know trouble brewing when she sees one, be they mages or kender .Especially with a roomful of mages all different in robes color… in souls. It's going to get very lovely, she mused wryly,.

She juggled the plate of drink on one hand and went about to serve them…all the while keeping an eye on the mages.

The red robe woman got up and moved away from the man. Erylaen let out a sigh of relief. Good, she didn’t have to resort to something drastic in order to get the man away.

The woman lweft and Erylaenw asn’t sure whather to follow her or not. IN the end, she decided against it and went to get herself a room before they wre all out.

Her gaze swept across the room, taking into memory the odd group of travelers that just came in. Then her eyes made contact with the dark robed man and she felt a flush staining her face.

Tairlana walked through the forest, with slow measured stride. Though others swore the gods were gone, her faith in the queen of darkness never wavered. The evil bronze dragon remained splendid in her human form. Her hair was no longer broze, but black with an incredible bronze shimmer to it.

She walked into the inn, and noticed several mages all scurrying about in their mindless human frenzies. Fools. The queen qould return, with better magic then theirs. She noticed a man with pale blonde hair, in black robes speaking to an elven woman. A white robed elf was lurking, as was a red-robe, and a black robe. She almost shivered. The female black robe speaking to the knight. It was she who Tairlana sought, Karina Half-Elven Majere. Princess of darkness.

Faral moved the instant the white robed moved and in an instant crashed into her. The tray on her hand toppled spilling ale all over the woman and splashing some more onto the black cloaked man next to her. The crash of the cups drew a loud sound as it physically made contact witht he ground .

“I’m sorry,” Faral cried at the sight of what she had done. She cursed herself for her clumsiness.

Her eyes rose to meet their gaze but quailed at the man’s glare. The white robed elf calmly gave a quick glance at her and picked up a napkin and attempted to dab at the soak front of her robe.

With no malice hinted in her voice Eryalen directed her musical voice to Faral, “I need a room fro the nihgt, mind you?”

“No not at all, tis on the house,” Faral said hastily and went to register her. Her face burn at the shots darted her way. IN all her years she never had crashed into anyone, neither elf dwarf nor human. Nor had she had one that was quite as embarrassing as this.

The elf, blessed her, averted the people’s attention and moved aside into a dark corner waiting for faral to come back with the key ot her room, in which in less than a minute she appeared, holding it out apologetically.
"Now ye have a good night."

Erylaen thanked her and move to stand up. She decided to get aroom for the night and pick up the distance squandered now in the morning. She was fatigued ever since she had arrive dhere and it was not healthy to be riding in such a ppor state.

She ignored the curious glance that the people around her threw at her and made her way to her room. The gaze of the dark mage burned at her back but with dignity she picked herself up and managed her way to her room, eagerly hoping for a peaceful night’s sleep.
But first, she required a change of clothing.

Very soon, most of the people in the inn had either left or went to bed. It was time for Faral to bolt the door and usher everyone who weren’t suppose to be in the inn out. There were several people, some of them Faral assumed were mages that were still heatedly arguing in a manner Faral was starting to dread. If she didn’t stop them now, it might escalate to an outright battle between the two, if she did intervene, she might as well sign up her own death warrant, magic or no magic. She gave in inward groan…it was a lose lose situation…damned if she do, and damned if she don’t…
But to the abyss with these folks, it was her inn after all, and there was no way she would shirk her upright duty and keel to these selfproclaimed pompous mages…she had more regard for herself than that.

Marching over, with renewed confidence she announced, “Alright, folks, the inn is closed…those of ye who have no right to be here, i asked ye to leave, and the rest must go to yer bed.” As she said that she eyed the quarrelers especiallyand in returned were met with glares…she shudder.

With a hidden smirk from a long hood, a gloved hand reached out and slowly pulled a key out Faral's pocket and glided upstairs.

As soon as she was upstairs, she closed the door. She quickliy pulling the Orb of Godly Talking out of her pocket and placing it on her lap, her brow wrinkled worridely.

"Please talk, My Queen...." she whispered.

"aaah........Karina....."

Karina's first reaction was anger; how did this dragon know of her and then her mother said? Was she no longer trusted?! THen her second was calmness, this was not a reason to anger the Queen. Outside, the lone moon still shown brightly in its foreign splendor. It had settled itself quite nicely, replacing in brightness and size the other three moons long gone.
Dawn tentatively arrived and a strange silence worked itself into the risers, groggily awaking from the comfort of their bed to continue their monotonous life style.

*************
Erylaen eyelids fluttered open, a chill swept immediately thourhgout her body. She shivered, rubbing her clammy hands and drew the thin blanket closer around her lithe frame. She was not use to the strange feeling of not waking up into her own soft and feathery canopied bed. Strange it was that the temperature was no where near chilly, yet she could feel goosebums covering the side of her arms.
For a moment she ladi back desireing to capture some extra moment of sleep, but it was futile. Th ememoreis of her mission prompted out of her bed.

************

Faral watched warily as these strangers entered the inn. Her suspicion grew as they separated themselves, their hands always straying at their sides, glancing around as if seeking enemies out of curious faces staring back.
“How do ye fare?” she greeted the man with the imposing aura who appeared to be the leader. Her dislike was immediate as he raked her body with a scorching glance.

“Give me the special this inn is so fammoous for, and I’ll be fine,” he said in an arrogant demeanor. The smell of spicy potatoes permeated the air, that he instantly coveted the food that was historically so highly regarded.
Faral nodded, trying to appear meek, “Yes, sir.” I’ll give you what we’re famous for, she thought angrily. A breakfast ladled with rat poison.

It’s only the tip, she reminded herself once again as she returned carrying his breakfast. Remember, the tip. They were very finely dressed men, which could only mean that they must cary with them a hefty pouch.
As she set the plate of freshly made potatoes in fornt of him, she couldn’t suppressed her evil thoughts of illwill.
“This will cover the cost and more, I presume.”
Her eyes lit as his he opened the drawstring and handed her a coin. Her eyes widened as he consecutively pulled out another one. This was indeed more tip than she had ever received.

When she turned to leave, the man grabbed her by her wrist.
“There is more where that came from if youc an tell me if there are any wizards here.”

She peered at him, wary at this statement. “What reason is that of ye?”

“Reasons you do not need to know.”

“Every person here is to his own. Until I get a fine reason I shall not divulge such information.”

He gave a coarse swore that made her winced. “Damn lady, I offer you money, if you will not accept than I will find my information elsewhere.”
“’Tis money is the instrument to the corruption of souls, for that I must decline. If ye be thinking of harboring violence in this peaceful inn, be it ye take it outside.”

The man’s dark eyes glittered. He snarled. “Get you away from me.”

Faral instantly backed away, sensing something dangerous. She had heard something of men that were about looking for mages to kill. Were these such men, she wondered? Here in the very Inn of the Last Home? She looked around and saw the same intent expression on all these men’s face, searching and finding. Most of mages that were here last night had not left but were still reclined to their own room.

She had no choice…to prevent bloodshed or any unwanted incidents, she must warn them. SHe turned to leave thea rea.

IC: Airin yawned, and rose from his bed. He looked over his clothes, and thought to himself bitterly What should I where? The black, or the black? He pulled on a dark robe, and entered the main area. He noticed that Faral was angry with an early customer. Odd. He sat at the bar. "I'll have spiced potatoes again" he said, and flipped a coin on the counter.

---------------------------------------------------
Tairlana stirred. She flipped a wing, and sat up. She cast her mind out to the inn, to see if Karina was yet up. She felt the ill-will of the mage-hunter, and Faral's resentment. She felt Airin being awake, and laughed to herself. If the ool that is a "wizard hunter" thinks that he is going against a powerless mage, then he will learn never to insult magic...... she laughed to herself, and channeled energy into Airin......

Faral raised a hand to knock on Erylaen’s door, but it swung open before she could rap a knuckle on it. Erylaen stepped out; clad in the same attire she wore the night before. She was prepped up to leave to finally make a step towards her goal, to find magic. Erylaen glance at Faral standing at the doorway, with a curious expression on her face.
“Good morning.”
Faral brushed aside this greeting and said quickly, “I’ve come to warn ye of trouble. There are some men after ye and yer fellow mages. Ye—“
“Men?” Erylaen intercede, fear creeping into her system. They couldn’t have gotten here this soon! But what was she talking about, fellow mages. "What men?"
“I have not a wit of who they are. But this i know. Ye must leave immediately and quietly lest these men will see ye. Disguise yerself up quickly with this.” Faral shoved a raggedy old blanket into her arms. “I’ll go warn the others.”
Before Erylaen could say anything, Faral left for the others leaving her staring at the blanket in her hands. She flung it over her cloak…it would perhaps disguise the fact that she was elven from the clothes she wore and possibly turn any unwanted attentions she might have by being disguised as a peasant.

IC: Faral saw the very same two people wasfrom the night before--one which was definitely a sorcerer and the other she wasn't so sure if she was--regarding eachother with the same stale attitude. There was no time for nonsense, Faral thought angrily as she paced quickly towards them.

OOC:I’ve decided to do away the characters, thus killing the story. Why, you might ask or for those who followed this thread, you might already know. As it started out with somewhat of a potential it had only ended with failure and I will not point fingers, as it would only result in more bickering and more protests and whatnot. I myself am part of that fault to begin with.
Ahem, well I’ll just end it quickly and whatever response that may follow, let it be realized that this thread as story has eneded.

I’ve changed the setting we were in…you might understand why afterwards….

IC: The sound that floated out of the Red Pillar’s inn that morning was that of an unearthly kind that would send shivers to all whom heard it through their very own individual ears. It reduced the bravest of men to a quivering mass in their own straw bed that now served as a comfort as sheets were drawn up to chin with trembling hands. Periodical shrieks made by unhuman matter tore at the nerves of men providing unpleasant imagery of the event occurring known only in nightmares. No one dared entered the place, lest they receive the same sort of reckoning as the inhabitants of the inn is then receiving.

There was something else afterwards to remember…the strange, eerie silence. Morning usually brought about a livelihood to the inn, where men eager to be drunken at morning, made jolly fools out of themselves, where women emits loud flattered remarks to the lewdness of strangers. But all vivacity was replaced with a strange emptiness that touched the heart of the witness, to its listeners.

No one knew what happened, none others could even fathom why. For some unknown reason, everyone in the inn had disappeared and what was left was only a scatter of belongings—as the brave ones who had entered the inns, their bodies certainly quivering—had seen.
And so it remains, ideas and gossips swirls. Has Takhisis returned, conjured by the magic of her blackrobed followers that very night? Had she whisked all the inn’s inhabitants to her abyss as playthings? Has the inn itself been cursed to its core, and the time had finally come for that curse to take its toll?

……………One can only imagine………….
