Benn-Salian
09/02/2003 12:08 PM

Five years is a long time. Even to an elf, alot of things can happen in five years. Benn-Salian had in that time accomplished alot. He learned magical tales that had been written by the gods themselves. With these tales, the blue robed mage passed his Test in the High Tower of Sorcery and traveled some of the lands of Ansalon.

The qualinesti mage had seen beautiful cities, battled horrific monsters and traded expensive magical artifacts, but he felt like he had been missing something the whole while. At first he blamed it on blind ambition, but that grew thin as the years wore on. Once in the city of Palanthus, a cleric of Mishakal told Benn-Salian that he should find the answers in the place where he began. Deciding against returning to Qualinesti where he had left because of practicing twilight magic, so that left him with Fernwood.

Benn-Salian walked through the village of Fernwood which hadn't changed too much. A few extra shops dotted up here and there, but nothing much else had changed. He became a little distraught when he saw his former home was now being rented out to a family of gnomes, but he soon rationalized that he was able to create himself a new home.

Buying supplies from Conrad Darho, the blue-robed mage used his magic and the Tale of Lies to convince the gnomes to help create him a new home just outside of Fernwood. As payment he gave the gnomes a fair amount of steel and his thanks. The magic spent utilizing the gnomes had drained the mage so he set himself in front of the fireplace in his dinning hall and soon napped in his chair.Never underestimate the power of the third half.

OOC: Um, Benn, when is this set? Becuase lots have happened in Fernwood (if you've been checking up on thread, which you should rejoin.) At this point, there are still a couple of people hanging around including Ankh, Matthiass (who owns the mageware shop) and whoever else. Tassana sat in her home, brushing Brightsky's long, heavy tail. She thought about all that had happened to her throughout her life. Though she thoroughly enjoyed seeing her son, his family, her daughter, and the villagers, she was happy for the peace that was in her home now. Her two companion dragons, Tinsel and Coby, had gone off the the Khalist Mountains awaiting Tassana's call. They had taken the small Zynx with them.

The kender sighed. She had buried three husbands. She was tired of marriage. Tired of love. Tired of care and worry. Then she smiled and shook her head. Who was she fooling? She could never be tired of any of that.

The pegasus snorted. *Someone returns home from long travels,* he said.

The kender looked up at the stallion. "How do you know?"

He laughed, *I hear the sounds of construction. Someone is building a new home.*

The kender nodded and got up. She climbed the steps of her home as nimbly and quickly as any normal kender. She reached the top of the home and pulled down another stairwell. This stair led to the top of the tree in which she built her home. She climbed out of the hole and looked over Fernwood.

"Benn-Salian," she whispered, watching the gnomes and the elf build the home.

When they had finished, she watched the elf go into his new home. She smiled. She knew he was spent. But how could she pass up an opprotunity that presented itself so well?

She nearly flew down the stair and grabbed her black velvet cloak. She wrapped the cloak around her and looked into a mirror that leaned against the wall next to the door.

The kender had changed much, though not a whole lot, she thought to herself. Her hair was still the auburn brown blonde tipped hair. Her eyes still liquidy brown. Would he remember me?

She bore a small scar near her left eye. It wasn't big nor was it noticeable, unless one was looking for a scar. It looked almost like a wrinkle, but that didn't make Tassana feel any better about it. Elves were young, wrinkle-free people.

She sighed. This will have to do

She opened the door and heard Brightsky's wicker from the fireplace. She turned to the pegasus, "Do not worry. I will return shortly. There is an old friend I have not seen in a long long time."

With that, she walked out the door and closed it behind her. She ran down the stairs and out the garden. She made her way to Benn- Salian's new home. Her steps more quiet than a mouse, her cloak and red and white dress whispered softly at her ankles.

She walked up to the door and gazed up at it. This was truly an elven mage home. She suddenly felt as if she were back in Qualinost, with her adopted family. She smiled softly at the nice memory and boldly knocked on the door."If you want to kick the tiger in his ass, you'd better have a plan for dealing with his teeth."

OOC: Princess, I am aware that thinks have changed in the village, but so has the time frame. It's been five years and I have my own creative license to deal with things that Tassana can't help me. Also remember that even if I as a Player don't know certain things, neither would Benn-Salian as a character.

BIC: The knocking on the door awoke the sleeping qualinesti elf. "What? Stupid gnomes, I already paid you to go home. I'm not interested in water- powered plumbing!" Benn-Salian muttered as he walked to the door.

Upon closer contact, the mage's extra sensory kicked in and Benn-Salian muttered a small scripture from Gilean's Tale of Knowledge. Before he could finish the proverb, two words entered his mind. Tassana Burrfoot.

The mage hadn't been here very long. He wasn't prepared to be confronted with his old friends. There was so much more he had to do before he could see them again. If Tassana had sought him out already, others would follow. Others like Krystal would come trampling through without warning. Benn-Salian thought it wise not to open his door just yet. No matter how much he might enjoy to see Tassana.Never underestimate the power of the third half.

Tassana stood outside the door. She pulled the hood of her cloak closer. It had begun to rain. She looked up at the darkened sky. In the language she grew up around she said loudly enough for Benn-Salian to hear. "I know you are in there, my dear friend. I also know you have arrived not too long ago... I... I would really like to see you again."

She stood at the door, her velvet cloak near soaked as the rain started to come down harder. Lightning flashed in the distance and a low rumble could be heard from the east. She sighed and spoke again in the language of her homeland. A language the elf would know just as well as she, "I no longer live in the village, but on the outskirts. My home is in the large tree near the western border. There is a garden around it along with a water fountain dedicated to the gods of magic.

"You can come when and if you choose.... I... would really like to see you again..."

She left it at that and walked away from the home. Better to let the elf at peace. Perhaps she will see him in the morning. She sloshed through the mud towards her house. Her cloak drawn tightly to her. She made her way through the dimming lights of the village and was tempted to go to the inn for a nightcap, but decided against it.

No, as much as she loved her son and daughter- in- law, it was best to be alone tonight. She walked up her steps and entered her home, taking off her wet cloak, she placed it on the coat hanger and went to the fireplace.

She whispered a few words in magic and a soft glow, then a burst of fire occured in the fireplace. She sat on the cushions on the floor and stared into the fire. She had almost forgotten about Brightsky until the pegasus came and lay next to her, putting his head into her lap. She smiled at the stallion and petted his forelock. She then lay down on the cushions next to him and fell asleep."If you want to kick the tiger in his ass, you'd better have a plan for dealing with his teeth."

Benn-Salian sat in silence for a few moments concidering his choice to keep his distance from his friend. The blue-robed mage swung open the door after a moments impulse to find nothing more on his doorstep. Better this way, he thought to himself, than to allow my emotions to run rampant.

Sitting down on the floor in his dining hall, the mage sat in the lotus position and calmed his mind and spirit. His breathing slowed to the mere whisper of the wind. The mage then slowly began to recite the words to Brancala's Tale of Life.

The words tumbled out with poetic magic, that depicted the images of beautiful creatures of lore and honerable deeds of men gone but not forgotten. A single tear came from the qualinesti at the knowledge of the truth that poured from the historic accounts. But this story wasn't for him. It was for Fernwood, his friends who lived there. It was for Tassana."I understand. We will move on. See new things, do new people! Consider me just a distant memory!" OOC: At this point in time, we will place Ankh somewhere near Fernwood. Seeing how the title implies two characters, I don't know if i'm wanted, but I'll join and if you say no i'll delete it.

BIC~

Five years hadn't passed for me. She thought to herself as she walked down a small dirt path to the place where she'd been born, because time doesn't pass anymore.

Those five years had gone slow for her, time to figure out who she was and where she belonged (both of which she still didn't know). Those years had made her morbid and quiet, an opposite to her former self, to Krystal, as opposed to Ankh. Enternal life had seemed great, but now it was just.....long. And she cursed her name, Ankh, the symbol of it all. Even now she carried one a pocket under her armor, close to her heart.

She didnt' know where to go. He was too wild to keep in any public place, himself sparked by barroom brawls and offers for drinks. Ankh wasn't open for a man. Nor would she be ever. Another reason why time crawled.

The warrioress, half-mortal and half-elemental, some strange fusion of Krystal Uth Usur and Minoa, The Shadow Lord, decided to return to Fernwood, the only place that had accepted her when they knew what she was. Her hands were stained with so much blood of those of Paladine and Mishakal, of Nuitari and Solinari, she couldn't bare to look at them. Her gloves, silk-esque, pure energy, covered her hands now.

When she entered the place she took note of new things. The first, the small houses. One which was obviously occupied by gnomes (given teh obnoxious sounds) and the second which was quiet, and the door was half-open. The next thing that caught her attention was Reiha's tree, which had lost it's shimmer, but was still a light gray. Ariekne's color. Her half-daughter. The last was the large foutain and house on the oppisite side on the border of the villiage. Matthiass's mageware shop was still there, so she didn't bother to check in. The door was open, symboling he was open for business.

She decided to look at the opened door home first. Before looking in, she knocked ont he wooden frame around the open door, "Hello? Who lives here? You...uhh....left your door open. Can I come in, it's raining quite madly, and I would indeed appriciate the shelter."

She threw down the hood of her cloak, revealing her permantly icy, cold, soulless eyes and an otherwise flawless face, and her black single braid which dissapeared into the cloak, down her back.(http://images.quizilla.com/T/trinitykills/1053662988_z3thetwins.jpg" border="0)want it.

Tassana woke with the sun. She could hear the birds chirping signaling the end of the rain. She smiled as she slowly rose from in front of the fireplace. Brightsky had already let himself out the back door. The fire in the foreplace must've died sometime last night. It was now nothing but ash

The kender drew her red and white dress close to herself, then realized how cold the dress was. A bit confused, she remembered being out in the rain the night before and decided it would be best she change. She went upstairs and changed into a pair of red breeches and a white shirt. She tied a black leather belt around her waist and put on her black boots.

She walked to her bedroom door and looked into the mirror that was hooked behind it. She smiled to herself. But there was something missing...

She looked around her room and her eyes fell on her closet door. She cocked her head. Should I? she thought to herself. A smirk played on her lips. It won't hurt. It's been too long without it.

She walked to the closet and opened the door. She reached in and took the great weapon out. She stroked it lovingly. The golden staff flashed in the light from the window. The unicorn that was carved into the gold dancing merrily. The silver tip was still as sharp as diamonds. The cloth was still stretchy. She smiled and held the Golden Hoopak proudly.

But the sunshine gleeming from her window. The birds singing praises. She knew she wouldn't be able to stay inside for long. Perhaps she'll go to the inn and grab a bite of breakfast... Perhaps she will see Benn-Salian...

That struck her interests. She remembered seeing him yesterday. She smiled.

Mayhap there is a change of seeing him again... After so long...

With the morning came the bright light coming in the window and illuminating Benn-Salian's face. The mage shook off the effects of magic in much the same way a drunkard would attempt to become sober.

Preparing himself to leave his home, the qualinesti mage pulled on his blue robe and exited out the front door and onto the streets of Fernwood. Benn-Salian headed toward's the Mage Shop that he had seen as he returned the day prior. He wondered who had erected it. Perhaps Thistledown, Benn-Salian thought to himself.

He would find out soon enough. Before he made it to the shop he noticed a familiar face and he thought he saw the recognition returned. "Hello Tassana," he replied with a smile, "You look as radiant as ever.""I understand. We will move on. See new things, do new people! Consider me just a distant memory!" The kender giggled, "I can say the same for you, Benn-Salian," she said in Qualinesti. "It is good to see you again. I was just on my way to the inn for breakfast, would you like to join me? Saegle cooks a wonderful bacon, egg, and pancake combo."

She looked up at the elf and smiled. "I can see something about you has changed...""If you want to kick the tiger in his ass, you'd better have a plan for dealing with his teeth."

The blue-robed mage pondered something for a second. Then he replied, "Unfortunately I cannot go to the inn. I have things I need to attend to. You are welcome to accompany if you wish."

With a smile and a quick bow, Benn-Salian turned on his heel and head off in the direction of his home."I understand. We will move on. See new things, do new people! Consider me just a distant memory!" The dwarf then planted a big sloppy kiss on Ilika's lush lips and sauntered off. - DarkDalamar20

The kender, never one to miss an opprotunity, eagerly ran to his heels. "Benn-Salian? Where are we going?" she asked.

She seemed almost like any other kender, minus a topknot and numerous pouches. Though, she did carry pouches and they jiggled merrily along with her. Her hoopak glistened in the sunlight. Her hair danced with the breeze and her bouncy walk.

She walked happily at the elf's side. In fact, the kender hadn't felt this happy in a long time...

Airiana, who had just walked from the mageware shop, shook her head at the confrontation. "I am here to find something that I seem to have forgotten last I left this village. We will have to keep in contact while I'm here," Benn-Salian commented to his longtime friend.

"I am called Ankh. And I have extremely capable of killing you. With one hand tied behind my back, probably."

The blue-robed mage's brow became knitted. "Realize that with great power comes an arogance that blinds us. While I have no interest in battling you, I will not shirk from it and demonstrate the few things that I have learned from the gods, " Benn-Salian replied cooly to the figure that he recognized as the young girl who had gained all her powers from outside influences.

While the qualinesti elf knew she to be strong in the art, he had a firm belief that pure magic came from personal connection with the gods and Krynn itself. Mediums depleted the power.

The kender said nothing to either Benn or Ankh. She just watching them with interest. Then she saw Airiana and smiled. "Hello, Airiana, it's good to see you."

Benn-Salian showed his visitor to a high backed chair in his dinning hall with the fire place. He opened a crate of qualinesti wine, selecting one, and poured him and Tassana a drink.

"I shall let you know, Tassana, that I have passed my Test in the towers some time ago and I have learned bardic magic from all over Ansalon. But all the art in the world hasn't made me satisfied. "Mages are known to be pack-rats of sorts," Benn-Salian acknowledged, "and I would be decietful to say that it didn't pertain to me as well."

Wandering to the mantle the mage motioned to the large minotaur skull that was placed in the middle. "I rescued this from a band of clerics of Chemosh. A messenger of Sargonnas rewarded me with the Tale of Vengence and the remnants of course as long as it was outside the influence of the Prince of Bone."

A thought passed through the qualinesti's mind. Without another word he took off into the other room and returned with a necklace fitted with a small key. He held it out in front of him allowing it to shine in the day's light. "This key is from my Test," Benn-Salian explained, "I tricked a specture guardian into giving it to me and allowed me to continue in my Test."

The mage handed it to Tassana so that she could inspect it herself. "While you may note since I have completed my Test, I no longer have need of it," Benn-Salian noted, "and perhaps I don't.
