Kalia woke with a start, sweat plastering her silver hair to her forehead. Panting she clutched the blanket tightly in her fists as her dark gold eyes fixed wildly on the window across from the foot of her bed. Though the room was comfortable, and a warm breeze stirred the white curtains, the young woman shivered.

“Again and again... I just wish I’d remember....” She sighed as the pounding in her head and chest receded and her breathing slowed. Again the dreams plagued her nights... making her wake in a terrified state... the wings of dragons skittering at the edges of the shadowed dreams.

She sighed and she heard a knock on her door. “Kalia...come on down. Breakfast.” It was Tika’s voice, her Foster-Mother.

“Alright...I’m up!” She called back and stood. She washed her face and brushed her hair. She dressed carefully, opting for a white tunic and tan leggings. Her long silver hair fell in soft waves past her waist. She pulled part of it away from her face and fastened it with a silver barrette given to her by “Uncle Tanis”

She opened her door and the paused, feeling that, oddly, she’d never see this room again......

She shook her head as if to clear it then hurried downstairs.

“Morning!” She called. Tika smiled, and Caramon looked up from his plate and grinned with his mouth full. Tika glared at him and Kalia giggled. Her two foster-sisters were helping Tika....while two of her foster brother’s where helping their father with the food....eating it.

“where’s Palin?” She asked, helping herself, and smacking sturm’s hand as he reached for the same peice of fruit.

“I think he went out to the lake....” Tika answered.

“Thanks.... I think I’ll go see what he’s up to when I’m finished.

minutes later she handed her plate to Tika and kissed her on the cheek. “wonderful as always” Kalia smiled and then left the inn. She smiled and greeted everyone who greeted her as she walked through the village. The Vallenwood trees where dappled with reds and golds....and more than half where scattered across the ground. A local man had gathered piles and where setting them ablaze. She shivered in the mid-autumn wind and hastened to the lake...

Sure enough as Tika said, there was Palin, in his favorite spot by the lake... at the stump of an old tree that had burned during the War of the Lance. Propped in his lap was a spellbook. He glanced up as she neared and smiled.

“Morning” he said and closed the book. Palin had passed his test the year before her and she had always looked up to him...yet he had confessed that her power confused and puzzled him. “It was if you where born in magic...not just being able to use it, almost as though it’s inherant... wish we knew where you came from.”

“Morning” She sighed and leaned against the old stump. and then saw Ayslynn’s head pop up from the lake. The dragon sneezed, spraying water over his head. He pulled himself onto the beach and shook the water from his wings. the leathery membranes sparkled with the water that beaded on the scales’ gem-like facets. deep within each milky-white scale was a multitude of color, metallic reds, blues and greens...

The Opal dragon was who brought Kalia to the Majeres’ knowing that they would take care of her. He had found a lair to claim deep within the Solace Vale. So he could keep a close watch on his “Charge”
“what bothers you Youngling?” Ayslynn purred as he ambled over, curling up around the two of them, tail twitching with curiosity.

“Been having the dreams again....and I still don’t understand them...but I always remember Dragons.... the wings of dragons...” She said staring into Ayslynn’s deep violet eyes.

The opal dragon stared back, though deep inside he wondered if Auricana’s spell was wearing off...and soon Kalia would remember......

----------------------------

Deep in the abyss, the dark temptress raged.... only one dragon remained by her side, one of dark crystal, his black feathered wings folded gracefully on his back.

"Don't fret so My Queen, My Mother... you will find what you seek..." He said, his deep voice rumbling in the space around him.

"She couldn't have vanished into thin air! The Daughter of Paladine cannot be allowed to roam free... Damn that Ayslynn..snatching her from my grasp...just when I was about to utilize her power...."

Navare snorted and shook his mane. "I am sorry mother, that I could not help, but you had sent me away at that time...."

Takhisis shook her head. "And it would have ended the same, dark one... return to that land... stay there till I call...." The dragon regarded the Goddess for a long moment then turned....leaving her to rant alone......

OOC: Okay this is set after the war of the lance....and this is concerning my namesake char, and her search for who she is... hopefully this will work out ;)

OOC: Sounds really cool, Kalia. I'm seriously thinking of joining. Though I don't know what character I could take. Maybe Selina since I've always pictured her growing up in Solace for some reason. We will see.

Selina hopped out of bed as she heard the birds singing outside her bedroom window. Quickly washing up and dressing in a simple tan tunic and matching pants, she brushed her black hair and let it hang loose to the mid-point of her back. After doing some tidying around the small cottage, the elfmaid decided to do some studying in her little cave hide-away by the lake before going to the Inn for breakfast.

Most would think it strange for a Kagonesti Elf to live so close to humans, even though she did prefer to keep her home outside the main village, but over the years Selina Silverwing had become a known member of the citizentry, a frien to many. Originally she and her parents had been here just before both of them had been killed in the War of the Lance. Feeling sympath for the elven girl, who had been 5 years away from her adulthood, many of the older human women of Solace had taken into their minds to adopt the stranger. Stranger she was no longer, Selina was part of a family.

As Selina was making her way around the lake toward her cave, her emerald eyes caught sight of another herb bush that grew wild. Pulling out a small notebook and quill, she made a note in her logs of what the herb looked like, smelled like, and her thoughts on what it could be used for. Finishing the notes, Selina then continued her investigation of the herbs. No problem with getting ahead of her work.

Once again delved into her studies, the elfmaid became obivious to all around her...

A very small hut in Solace, far from the Inn, was the only building that did not have a light on inside. If you were not looking for it, you would not find it, for that matter. The wood was weathered, and magically hidden. For that matter, even if were looking for it, you probaly wouldn't see it.

Inside was three rooms. The first was a sparingly used kitchen, the only things in it a small icechest and a couple of barrells of water. The second was a bathroom. The third was was the largest.

A bed, neatly made, sat in a corner of the room. There was a currently unoccupied hanger near it, and a small dresser that reeked of spell components. In the center of a room was a tripod made of glass, and in it was a small orb that appeared to having moving black smoke inside it. Right now, that smoke had formed into an image of the Dark Queen was was rambling on about Ayslynn stealing Glimmer, Paladine's child, from her grasp. The voice was hazy, and sounding rather mystical and echoed.

Milling around the room was a girl, who looked no older then twenty three or four. She was draped entirely in black. Her hands were hands were clad in black silk gloves, a pouch draped over black mages' robes. Her boots were ebony as well, they clunked on the wood floor when she moved. Her hood was drawn over her face for the moment being.

She turned from the rambling voice from the orb to glance outside. Nuitari was full tonight. Excellent.

She glanced down at the lake.

Asylynn. How dare he.

OOC: Oblivious huh? hehe...

BIC: Ayslynn let out a screech of pain as the elfmaid trod on his tail. In his efforts to pull his tail free, he toppled the girl off her feet. Ayslynn wasn't very big...at full grown his length was only fourty feet... his wingspan just about twice that length.

issuing his odd, snarling purr, he nursed his bruised tail as Kalia helped the girl to her feet.

"Are you alright?" She asked as she checked the girl over, her gold eyes warm with concern. "Don't mind Ayslynn...for all his size he can really act like a baby..."

Ayslynn snorted and lightly cuffed her shoulder with his tail. "watch it Youngling..."

Kalia laughed and smiled at Selina.. "What are you doing today Selina?"

Ayslynn watched the two carefully, trying to gauge how Auricana's spell was holding up. The ancient gold was furious at the loss of their progeny, even though he brought her back...as once being a weapon of the Dark Queen the other dragons of light, especially a hot-tempered copper, very nearly tore him apart.

Carefully he moved around the lake, finding a large, flat rock on wich to sun himself... winter would be here soon and he would take advantage of such days while he could...

OOC: This sounds great Kalia. How old are the Majere children? How long after the War?

Theros Ironfield's smith shop was busier than ever. At the end of the War of the Lance, the number of peope purchasing weapons doubled in Solace. Townsfolk were more aware of possible danger, and if anything ever came up again, they wanted to be ready this time. This caused Theros alot of stress, so about a month ago he hired an 18 year old boy named Zavier to help him around the blacksmith shop.

Zavier awoke at the sound of Theros' booming voice.

"Get up boy! You've slept late again." Theros shouted from the main smith room.

Zavier heard clanking and got up quickly. He got dressed and put on his ash covered work tunic and leather gloves. Zavier had a small room with a straw bed that connected to a hallway, leading to the blacksmith shop.

Zavier entered the smith room. He saw his master standing before a large blade on an anvil. Theros swung a hammer in his steel arm, slamming the metal.

"Good morning Master." Zavier said with a yawn.

"Morning Zav. Your breakfast is on the table by the window. After you eat, get to work on Mr. Majeres daggers." Theros replied. Zavier walked over to the table and took a loaf of bread from a plate. He ate quickly, as usual, then walked over to his work table. On the table were seven knives. Zavier loved working with knives. He had a keen ability to make them and practiced throwing them outside on his hours off.

He took his sharpening tool and began working away at one of the blades. Mr. Majere had only ordered 3 daggers, the other 4 were for Zavier. They were all fine blades. Mr. Majere's were finished. He kept this secret from Theros so he could continue to perfect his daggers.

When Zavier was finished with the daggers, he placed three in a wooden crate and put the other four in hilts on his belt.

"All done master. I will go bring them to Sir Caramon now." Zavier said to his master, in much anticipation to leave the dark, musty smith shop.

"Okay Zav, dont be long. I need you back here to finish some shields and armor." Theros replied.

Zavier placed his dirty work tunic on a coat rack before leaving the shop. He wore a dark green buttoned vest over a long white silk shirt. His pants were brown and his black belt was showing, revealing his four brand new daggers. Zavier had long blond hair that fell to his shoulders and a beard covering his chin.

Zavier carried the crate in his arms and headed toward the Majere household. Solace was beautiful as always in the morning. The clanking from the shop was dimmed by the chatter of townsfolk. Many people were at the market in the middle of town. Zavier made his way through getting many waves and greetings from his friends. He couldnt stop and chat however, for he was still working.

The young blacksmith was finally at the Majere's house. Zav knocked twice and the door was opened by one of the children.

"Good morning Sturm. Here are your fathers daggers he ordered. Can you get him for me?" Zavier asked politely.

"Sure Zavier, wait right there." Sturm replied and walked away from the door. A few seconds later, Caramon Majere stood in the doorway.

"Morning sir. I come with your daggers sir." Zavier said with a kind grin. Holding the crate out to Caramon.

"These look great." Caramon said, opening the crate. "Palin's gonna love these. His birthday is coming up. Thanks a bunch Zavier. Give Theros my best wishes." Caramon said with gratitude.

"You are very welcome Caramon. I enjoyed making them." Zavier said, thinking about his four daggers.

Zavier was on his way back to the shop, when he saw the lake. It was a hot day already, and he needed a break from work anyway. He ran towards the water and splashed some on his face.

Zav turned his head as he heard chatter. He saw Kalia and Palin Majere by the lake. He also saw Selina speaking with Kalia.

"Thats odd." Zav thought as he looked at the golden dragon behind them. Zav was good friends with the Majere family and knew the kids fairly well. The young blacksmith walked over to the three.

"Good morning Kalia, Palin, and Selina. What are you three doing down here this early?" Zavier asked with a grin.

OOC: Queshu, Ayslynn isn't a Gold dragon, but an opal. He was a creation of the Dark Queen to serve her. A creation mix between four of her chromatics, she came up with Ayslynn... Though essentially chaotic, Ayslynn has no love for his creator.

also, it's late fall... can't be that hot ;)

BIC: Kalia turned and flashed Zavier a smile. "Morning" she called back. Ayslynn opened one violet eye and then returned to his sun-drenched doze.

"Not much Zavier, I came to see what Palin was up to and ran into Selina... how are you this morn?" She asked politely, her silver hair shining in the sun.

Kalia laughed and smiled at Selina.. "What are you doing today Selina?"

Selina returned the Kalia's smile as she tucked her long hair back behind her ears and picked up her fallen notebook, "I was just making some more notes on the herbs around the village - guess I got more caught up in it than I thought, she siad with a chuckle. Looking at Ayslynn who was now laying on a rock, she said, "I hope I didn't bother him to much."

Noticing Palin Majere sitting with his spellbook, she gave the young Mage a friendly smile. Looking back at Kaila, she asked, "How are you today Kalia?"

OOC: Okay, I need a little bit of help here. Somehow, I want Selina's interest in plants and herbs to progress into...a career? Don't know what you would call it. Anyway, what kind of Ranks in this game could center around herbs and stuff?

"Good morning Kalia, Palin, and Selina. What are you three doing down here this early?" Zavier asked with a grin.

Selina waved to Zavier as the blacksmith approached. Griining back at him, she answered, "You know me, stay inside as little as possible. I thought I'd get a jump on my "research" before heading to the Inn for breakfast."

Kalia shook her head towards Ayslynn. "Don't worry about him... he acts all grumpy but he's very nice when you get to know him." Ayslynn snorted and fanned out his wings to catch the sunlight.

Palin had listened to Kalia talk and though her tone was light he could tell that the dreams bothered her.

"Listen... If the dreams bother you so much why not go to the Tower...perhaps Par-salian will be able to help.." Palin suggested, closing his book with a snap.

"But you know papa...would he really let me go?" She worried.

Palin laughed and looked to the dragon sunning himself. "If It were me, and I had to contend with that, knowing that he's your 'protector' I wouldn't stand a chance on stopping you...."

Palin stood and smiled at his "little sister". "And it's not like you'll be going alone. I'm sure that Selina here would love to go, perhaps find some more on her research.... " He said giving selina the very obvious hint.

"Im fine today Kalia. I've been at the shop for most of the morning." Zavier said with a wide grin. He turned to Selina as she spoke to him. At the mention of breakfast, Zav replied.

"I would love to accompany you dear Selina. Though I have already eaten, I will go just to be in the pleasure of your company." Zav said with a polite bow.

The blacksmith turned as Palin spoke. Thoughts of adventure never came to Zav's mind much. He began to daydream for a few seconds. He pictured himself fighting goblins with his daggers. He finally snapped back to reality.

"Joining you in this adventure is very tempting. I have long desired to leave Solace. But im afraid i cannot decide in an instant. Shall we go to the inn? Perhaps we can discuss about it while we fill our stomachs with spiced potatoes and satisfy our thirst with some ale?" Zav recommended with a look of anticipation.

"Great!"Selina said as she walked with the two humans, "fun, travel, adventure. This wll be good for all of us."

Selina quieted as she noticed Kalia's worried expression. Looking at the girl in concern, the Kagonesti tried to reassure her friend, "Don't worry Kalia, I'm sure Mr. Caramon and Mrs. Tika will let you go. Why wouldn't they, if it means that you will understand your nightmares? They only want you to be happy."

Kalia_Majere

Ayslynn listened attentively and slipped away as Kalia made her way back to the Inn. The Solace Vale wasn't exactly hospitable to humans...but to him, it was home. He found his lair in quick order and found that nothing had disturbed it during his absense. He quickly went inside.

With a flick of his barbed tail, the enchantment fell back into place...making the cavern look like part of the cliff... He circled a globe of golden crystal.

"Auricana...Aura?" He called and the globe began to glow. "I can hear you... what is it Ayslynn?" The globe pulsed with each word.

"It is our charge...she is troubled by these dreams... her foster brother, the mage, has urged her to seek council of the Mages in Wayerth."

The globe was silent, though it pulsed faintly as though it had a life-beat of its own.

"Perhaps it is time... it has been nearly twenty three years... we knew we could not spirit her away forever.... Stay with her Ayslynn...she'll need your guidance" The sagely voice purred softly and the crystal went dim.

"Very well...." Ayslynn purred his violet eyes filled with worry.

"Yeah, dont worry Kalia." Zav said putting his arm around his friends shoulder.

"Once your father knows your being protected by the Brave and Powerful Zavier, he wont worry a bit." Zav said, grinning and flexing his not so built arms. A little boy ran up to the young blacksmith and slapped him in the knees with a wooden sword.

"Oof! Hey! Get back here you little punk!" Zav shouted in anger. He saw Selina and Kalia holding back laughter.

"That really hurt. That kid has some swing. What? Im serious!" Zav said blushing as Kalia and Selina burst into laughter.

The three made their way to the inn.

Selina bit bak her laughter, seeing that it was embarrassing the blacksmith. As the three friends continued on to the Inn, the young elf took in her surroundings and her friends with a smile. She was still amazed at how at ease she was with the humans of Solace after only 5 short years. Sure her life hear was different than it had been with her parents, but it was different in a good way. Before coming here, she and her family had hardly ever settled in one place to long, always setting up new homes in the many forests of the area. Selina still much perfered the outdoors of nature, but at least here, not far from the village of Solace, the young woman now had friends.

A man in his late 20s, early 30s was waiting in the inn. His hair, already starting to gray, was long and hung behind him. He wore a brown coat about him, and a sword dangled from his waist. His face showed that he knew battle quite well, but it also showed an intense sorrow and loss.

Zav and his friends entered the Inn of The Last Home. It was busy, as always. Chatter filled the air, as did the smell of spiced potatoes. Zav was enjoying the moment, when suddenly thoughts of Theros and work came to his mind.

"Damn! I forgot about work!" Zav said nervously, his face turning pale.

"I hope Master Ironfield doesnt mind. After all, I am on an adventure. He can relate." Zav said, trying to relax himself.

Kalia_Majere
07/24/2003 2:49 PM

Kalia nodded and they all entered the Inn. Immediately after her one foster-sister served her friends, Kalia slipped into the kitchen, first to confront her mother.

"mother....we need to talk..." she said hesitantly. Tika pulled her hands out of the soapy water and dried her hands. "what is it?" She asked, worry in her eyes and voice at Kalia's tone.

"You and Papa both know of these dreams, these Nightmares have been plauging me ever since my Testing. There is still part of it that I do not remember...." She took a breath. "Palin suggests that I go back to Wayerth... to find out what happened...and why these dreams plauge me."

Before Tika could try to object.. Kalia continued. "Selena has offered to go with me, as well as Zavier.... and of course, Ayslynn will accompany us.... I have to go Mama.... For my own peace of mind...." She said, her voice pleading...

Tika sat down on a stool and stared at Kalia for a long moment... then sighed and folded her hands in her lap. "I think I knew this was coming sooner or later... Kalia the day you came to us, wrapped in only a blanket, carried by that dragon, we knew you where destined to be someone who could change the world..."

Tika ran her fingers through her red curls, then her hand slipped into the pocket of her skirt. "I've carried this every day since then...." she pulled out a platinum chain... and suspened from it was a crystal disk, it caught the sunlight that filtered through the window and scattered rainbows across the room....

The pendant was circular, with an etching of the platinum dragon done in exquisite detail, down to every last scale, tooth and claw. someone had painstakenly filled in every detail with real platinum, gold for each claw, and crystal teeth.

Kalia gasped as Tika handed the necklace to her. "It's gorgeous...." she whispered as the pendant rested in her palm... then her eyes widened, as it grew warmer than her own hand... not hot enough to drop but she stared at it in awe.

"It was in the blanket you were wrapped in. That is Paladine's symbol..." Tika smiled, though tears were in her eyes.

Kalia nodded and they all entered the Inn. Immediately after her one foster-sister served her friends, Kalia slipped into the kitchen, first to confront her mother.

As she watched Kalia go into the kitchen of the Inn, Selina sat and picked at her meal. Her ussual lunch of corn bread and honey, vaaious fruits and vegetables, and a light white elven wine. As she ate, the young Kagonesti watched the comings and goings of the busy Inn.

"Don't worry Zav. Mr. Theros knows what it's like to be on an adventure. He'll understand, I'm sure." Selina encouraged smiling. That's when she noticed the human man sitting alone. He looked familiar, but not quite enough so the girl could place him....

"Yeah, i sure hope so Selina." Zav replied to Selina.

He took a seat next to her and began biting into a potatoe. Suddenly a large hand grabbed his shoulder. Zav turned to see Caramon.

"Oh hey Caramon." Zav said with a stuffed mouth.

"Hello Zavier, Selina."Caramon said nodding to both of them.

"Kalia told me all about it. Im relying on you two to help her. Zavier, i need to talk to you alone for a little bit." Caramon said. The two walked off into an empty corner. Zav looked back at Selina in confusion.

"Zavier, this is very important. Kalia is like a daughter to me. Im relying on you to make sure she comes back home." Caramon said to Zav. The blacksmith saw tears coming to the big mans eyes.

"Yeah, sure, Caramon. Ill do what i can. Its just, im not exactly the best fighter on Krynn, im just a blacksmith..." Zav explained. He was interupted by Caramon, who now had his hand on his shoulder.

"Do this for me Zavier." Caramon said, sniffling a bit. He patted the blacksmiths back and walked off into the kitchen.

Zav returned to the table and got himself a pint of ale.

As the big man walked oveer to the table and gretted her and Zavier, Selina nodded. When he told them that he was relying on both of them to help kalia on the journey, she merely promised, "Of cousre Mr. Caramon."

As she sipped at her wine and ate her lunch, Selina's acute elven hearing picked up the whole conversation between the two men. It was the basic "take care of my daughter" speech, the girl realized with a smile. Sad for just a second, the young elf remembered there was no family to give that speech about her anymore...

Ignoring the lump in her throat, Selina ate her lunch.

OOC: yup :)

BIC: Kalia had returned to her room, and pulled out her pack from under her bed. She quickly packed it with her spare set of robes, and also some normal, scout-type clothing... just in case. She checked over her spell componants and assured herself that she had what she needed....

She returned downstairs. Tika had a second, somewhat larger pack with provisions in it. "You can take Dapple. He wouldn't eat with you gone anyway."

Dapple was a pony with a dappled grey coat. she had helped raise the horse from when it was a colt and it would follow her around like a puppy if given the chance.

"Thanks Mama...but we're going with Ayslynn... Dapple can't fly... He'll just have to stay here..."

Tika flustered for a moment then smiled. "I'm sorry honey..I wasn't thinking." She turned away and then Kalia saw Caramon in the doorframe.

"Kalia...I want to give you something....." He turned away and Kalia followed him.

Too the small room in the back of the inn, the one dubbed "Raistlin's Room". He opened the door and waited for her to proceed him. there where several magical objects scattered all around the room, "Offerings" from many a wandering Mage.

"I know that you can tell what some of these are for... I'm sure no one would mind if you took a couple that you could use...." Kalia stared at her Foster-Father, somewhat shocked. When he didn't say anything else.... she said the words to a spell that would identify objects that she could use.

four objects began to glow a soft white. Two pendants, a ring and a sword. she checked them all. One of the pendants was the bearer of a strong Polymorph spell... she would give that to Aysylnn... the Ring was one of warding. It would grow warm at the approach of someone without honest intent.... Perhaps she would keep that for herself.

The second pendant had a Hunter's charm in it... It would "call" animals to them if they needed it. that would be perfect for Selina.

The last Item, the Sword was simple, though the blade was etched beautifully. And from the markings on the Scabbard...this sword would practically cut through anything...and would never break. A definite for Zavier.

"These are perfect..." she said with a smiled and turned back to caramon. She noticed that he had one more item in his hands. "this was Raist's....I want you to have it."

it was a scabbard that fit the lower arm, and held a silver dagger. Wtih a clever twist of the wrist the dagger would drop into her waiting palm... she remembered hearing that Raistlin Majere had such a scabbard and dagger....

"Thank you Papa..." she said solemly as she accepted this last gift.

Zav sat down and drew a deep breath. He brushed his blond hair out of his face and bit into his potatoe. Suddenly little Dezra and Laura Majere ran up to him.

"Hey Dezi and Laura. You two girls got big didnt ya?" Zavier said kindly.

The two girls giggled.

"Will you marry me Zavier?"Laura asked. She was seven years old now. (Is that okay Kalia?)

Zav laughed. "In a few of years, maybe when your eleven." Zav said jokingly. They both gave the blacksmith a hug. Zav was smiling when suddenly he heard the girls sobbing a bit.

"Dont go! Please dont go! I dont want you, Selina and Kalia to be killed!" Dezra cried quietly. Zav looked into her eyes in shock.

"Who told you we were gonna be killed? How did you find out we were leaving?" Zav asked with a concerned look on his face.

"Tanin and Sturm said you were leaving Solace and that you were a bad fighter and probably werent going to make it." Dezra replied. Zav lifted her and put the six year old on Selinas lap.

"Well you tell those rascals that Zav is the finest fighter to ever come out of Solace!" Zav said with a look of pride.

"What about daddy?" Laura asked. Zavs face returned to normal.

"Okay...good point. Second best fighter to come out of Solace!" Zav repeated. The two girls giggled and ran off to the kitchen.

Zav looked at Selina with concern.

"Doesnt seem like many people trust I can do this." The blacksmith said with a slight grin.

"They'll see what I'm made out of. Check this out. See that man with the apple in his hands?" Theron whispered. Suddenly a dagger was in his hands. He threw it skillfully. Moments later there was an apple sticking to the wall with Therons dagger in it.

"Not too bad for a blacksmith eh?" Theron said to Selina.

Kalia smiled and hugged her two younger "sisters". "Now don't you worry... Tanin and Sturm don't know everything. we'll be back... I promise you."

The girls giggled and ran out of the room. Kalia turned, she slipped the ring on the platinum chain that hung around her neck...the crystal caught the sunlight again and shot rainbows around the room for a moment.

She handed the one necklace to Selena then the Sword to Zavier.

"When you're ready we'll meed Ayslynn at the Lake...." she said.

Kalia_Majere

Ayslynn had left his Lair, sealing it up, not knowing if he'd ever return to it. (hehe. much later Kalia's Daughter, Wylin will take residence of this Lair and all it's treasures ;)) He had made contact with Auricana once more and the Gold Matriarch told him that he couldn't tell Kalia the truth..not yet... she had to discover her true form and power on her own...

But She didn't say he couldn't hint at it. He flew back to the lake and landed on the Huge rock, it hung over the lake and he stared down at the placid waters and to his own reflection. "She'll be the key once again... " he sighed and inhaled deeply....

The expulsion of air exploded over the lake.... the air was frigid, and frost covered the surface of the lake for fifty meters ahead of him... the layer of ice was at least six inches thick but it broke quickly in the autumn sun..

He then lay his head down on the stone to wait for his charge and her friends.

"Follow them. Do not let out of your sight. Aysylnn may know you are mine if you reveal yourself to he, and Kalia will most likely carry artifacts that do the same thing." The shadowy voice of the Orb commanded.

"Yes, Mother." Karina said obediantly, "And what if they do see me?"

"Act as if you were but a travelling mortal mage. Your condition could be easily a effect of your test."

"It was," She replied with a smirk, "Was it not, My Queen?"

"Don't be smart."

"My apologies. I shall leave immediatly." She packed her things up. Glancing out her window, she glared at the group.

Aysylnn and Kalia, Selina and Zavier. She only had to worry about the first, watch the second, and ignore the last two.

Since taking her test and learning who she was, her life had changed less then she'd suspected. She was Karina, demigoddess, dubbed Princess of Darkness, daughter of the Dark Queen and the Hero of the Lance Tanis Half-Elven (who was still unaware she existed). She had been blond hair and blue eyed....now she was black haired and solid-black-oval eyes.

She laughed at the memory of when she first realized her physical appearance had changed. And then she'd felt the magic. Inherent. Divine.

She'd had contact with the Dark Queen before her test. Had known Caramon and Raistlin before the War. Good friends, they'd been. Then she'd taken her test, and they had heard only that she was doing well. Of course, she'd freaked Caramon out on the way there, and they were both very aware of her alligiance to the Queen even before her changes. SHe made a mental note to send another letter to Caramon saying she was alright. So she did.

Caramon,

I'm in Palanthas, checking up on some artifacts I'm searching for. Life's going pretty well. I'm also improve on my magic skill. How's life going for you? Have you heard from Raistlin at all? Is the Inn good? I hope you're doing well. May the Dark Queen walk with you.

-Karina

She closed the letter and put it in an envolope and dripped wax on it to close it, then whispered to it as it dissapeared to go to the Inn of the Last Home.

WIth that she climbed out of the window. She hovered a couple of feet from her house, still in the shade.

"Go, my friends. Lets see what you have to do."

Selina chuckled and nodded, admitting that she was impress my Zavier's skill with a dagger. As Kalia came back with the artifacts and handed her the necklace and Zavier the sword, Selina took her "gift" with a smile.

"okay then," the elfmaid agreed standing up from the table, "I'll just go grab my things from my cottage and meet you guys back at the lake."

With a wave, Selina left the Inn, jogging down the stairs and out of the village back to her small home in a secluded patch of vallenwood trees. The area was perfect for the Kagonesti elf: quiet and peaceful, lots of room forr her herbal gardens, close to the lake, as wll as her cave hide-away. Selina loved her home. She would miss it too, but as she entered the cottage, she smiled, knowing the trip wouldn't be forever.

Quickly gathering her required belongings, Selina packed clothes, some rrations, an extra notebook and quill and ink, as well as two extra daggers into a large packback. Going out to her garden with a smaller pack, she picked some of the herbs she figured the group might need. Ones for headaches, cuts and bruises etc. It will be nice to learn how to expand my herbal knowledge she thought to herself as she closed the sack and re-entered the house.

Putting the herbal bag into the back pack, as well as a few more last minute items, Selina grapped her longbow and arrows before locking up the cottage and making her way to the lake to meet her friends.

Zav and Kalia walked side by side towards the lake. When they got there, a dark skinned man with a silver arm stood, staring at the two with a small brown pack in his arms. Zav approached his master with a worried and sorry look on his face.

"Theros,...I-I'm sorry...OOF!" Zav gasped as the strong metal arm shoved the pack into his chest.

"I heard about your adventure Zav, and I am very proud. I hoped you would get out one day. Inside are some of your clothes and I bought you some food to last you about a week. Be careful my young apprentice. Your anvil and hammer will always be waiting for you if you decide to return." Theros said as he patted the young man on the shoulder. Theros walked back to town.

"Goodbye Theros!" Zav shouted back to the man. Zav turned to Kalia. He played around with his sword she had given her.

"Thanks alot Kalia. This sword is great. It was smart of you to give it to me, it could save YOUR life too!" Zav said jokingly. THe blacksmith looked up at the dragon then sat down on a log, waiting for Selina.

white hair, blue eyes, and although he has a lean frame he is quite strong.

He has no love of any god but works to his own ends, he has taken up a job offered in palanthas, which is why in the next few postings he will be tracking you on your journey

IC: Silvan left the inn, sometime after breakfast, he made his way to the lake and from a distance, watched, she was but a child in his eyes, so why would a wealthy merchant in Palanthas want her so badly, he had offered gold, horses, gemstones and more for her to be brought to him unharmed of course.

Silvan shrugged it was none of his concearn, he would follow untill the time was right and take her from her friends, the dragon he thought was the only on he feared.

Silvan watched, where she went he would follow,

Shrugging in confusion as she adusted her pack and longbow, Selina wrote the feelings off as merely nervousness about leaving Solace.

IC As Silvan watched he let his mind think over the past months, he had entered Palanthas on business, the permanent kind, it had not taken him long to assasinate the knight, he had done nothing personal to Silvan but ask one too many questions about his former employer.

It was in the dark empty streets near the tower of high sorcery, the black tower that chilled him to his bones when his eyes were drawn to it,

the merchant had approached him with an offer he couldn't refuse, "She must not be harmed bring her to Palanthas and your price will be doubled, my employer will pay you upon your return".

His employer was either someone with perculier taste in women or there was something going one that he could not comprehend, but always he had the sence of some dark figure dogging his steps, waiting watching for the point to strike, Silvan left the lake and walked back into Solace.

BIC: Kalia helped the dragon on with the leather harness... set to give the riders something to hold on to. She also secured the pendant around the chest straps, and the dragon looked at it with curiosity. "Ah...a polymorph spell...good choice." he muttered. Kalia smiled and turned towards the other two, Xavier and Selina.

She caught sight of an elf heading towards the heart of solace, but payed him no more mind after that glance, though a darkened shadow hung in the corner of her eye, and when she turned to see it more clearly, it vanished.

Shaking her head she climbed up onto Asylynn's back. She motioned for Xavier to sit directly behind her, to balance the weight, and for Selina to sit behind him. Xavier looked a little pale, as if this was one of the last things he wanted to do, and then settled himself behind Kalia, just behind the wing joints. When Selina had situated herself, and kalia had the packs secured the dragon stood.

Asylynn walked to the edge of the small cliff that overhung the lake. With a mightly shove from his hindlegs he launched himself into the air. His wings brushed the water of the lake, and then he was completely airborn. he circled the area three times, each circut brought him higher than the last. Finally, he angled his wings and banked to the west, away from the sun....

IC Silvan watched them take flight, he watched the dragon circle Solace, when it banked off, he broke and ran, Bloodbane was waiting in a cave about half a mile from town,

He was nervouse as he approached but the dragon seemed eager for flight, within a half an hour they had taken flight and were closing fast,

Silvan spoke to the great green dragon and he rose higher and higher until they were concealed in the clouds.

"I will take you to where they land tonight, after that your on your own, My master has recalled me, I cant not aid you further, and if I had my way Elf you would be dead by now, I loath and detest your kind, on day I will exterminate you all"

Silvan shuddered, he knew there was something dark and evil behind all this, but to hold a dragon in check must take great power.

On they flew hiding in the clouds waiting for the dragon to land and set up there encampment for the night, then Silvan would make his move.

As she watched Asylynn (Sp?) launch off, so did she. A quick polymorph into a hawk, and she fluttered off to follow the dragon. The bird was a strong flier and could follow the dragon, and the magical barriers of Wayrenth would let her in. The worst problem she faced now was if the dragon would notice she was following. This did not worry her, though, as she took a couple of round-abouts to follow him. His passengers were Kalia, a blacksmith who's name was apparently Zavier, and an elf named Selina. None of which who would pose a problem.

She only had to worry abotu Asylynn. Kalia, if she remembered, would be a nuisance but without unlocking her naturel power, would not be a threat.

This was going to be far easier then she thought originally.

It was indeed going to be an interesting adventure.

"I know that you could destroy the dragon my Lord, but the girl must not be hurt, I will try it my way, But i thank you for your offer".

He he had watched her and her friends, for a long time, he again began to wonder what a slip of a girl could have done to attract such interest from powerful men, then it hit him like a thunder bolt maybe its not what she is but what she will do or become that scares his employer......

As the group continued their flight to the Mage Tower, Selina thought she heard voices somewhere behind them. She frowned in concentration as her elven ears perked backwards to catch any distant sounds.

I'm sure I heard something!

Unfortunately with the way the wind blew Kalia's silver hair, as well as Selina's jet-black hair, it was next to impossible to get a clear view of anything that could be at the rear of the opal dragon.

Still concentrating, Selina sat up straighter and continued to listen.

Kalia_Majere
08/30/2003 1:40 PM

Asylynn felt the elf tense upon his back, the sun was lowering and they would soon seek shelter for the night...for unlike some of his cousins, he could not sustain flight for days on end.

He looked back at his passengers to ask what had troubled the elf to make her tense so suddenly when he caught sight of the green. His Violet eyes widened for a moment before looking to Selina as if he had seen nothing...

"You are wise to worry elf... Don't turn around..." He whispered just so that the wind would carry his words to her.

Kalia took her cue from Asylynn and kept her head forward.

"We're being followed?" The dragon only nodded to answer Kalia's question.

"We'll have to camp soon, but we'll make it to Wayerth by tomorrow evening... "

Kalia shivered as the remnants of her dreams returned....shadowed as always by the wings of dragons... Asylynn noticed she slipped in to a vauge dream-like state, and knew that the spells on her memory were breaking, slowly but steadily....

The shadows stilled and Kalia blinked as brilliant light dazzled her eyes. The vision before her was breathtakiing... hills and mountains and grassy valleys.... Sparkling in the sun where buildings of silver and of gold, and dragons darting from each, the sun glinting off of their metallic wings.

Kalia gasped as the vision released her... if that was what you could call it... "Dragons... Golds, Silvers...all of the metallics, Gods above that was a beautiful place...." She said softly, tears in her eyes as she stared un-seeing towards Asylynn

She listened to Kalia and her mount discussing making camp soon. Turning to ask Kalia a question, she noticed with concerned the familiar glazed look in her friend's eyes. She was caught in her dreams again.

Kalia shook her head and her eyes remained unfocused....this time the vision was dark as it asulted her again....and this time it seemed as if somone was reaching out to her, pleading, crying for help....

The darkness swirled around a point of light.... so bright that kalia couldn't look directly at it and had to sheild her eyes. the light coalesced... forming into a shimmering dragon of origins Kalia had never seen nor heard of before.

Each scale was crystalline perfection, and they reflected what light there was in this dark place... the dragons wings where feathered, not leathery as the rest of the dragons of krynn, and they shimmered with an opalescent sheen.

You have to remember... Time is running out!! Please!! The dragon's feminine voice cried out, her golden eyes bright with terror.

Kalia cried out and huddled close to Asylynn's back, shivering. In alarm, the opal dragon angled his wings and made ready to land, they would make camp early.

Selina was worried about Kalia. The girl had not said what she had seen in this last flash, but she was shaking like a leave and her eyes shone with fear.

Asylynn looked up to the sky and wondered if the green would fly overhead, or if it would land at the same time that Asylynn had angled to the ground. He shook his head, and the spikey ridge that framed his jaw and then ran along the upper portion of his neck rattled. His tail twitching in agitation he turned to Kalia.

"Tell me what you saw." He said, his violet eyes level with hers. Kalia flinched at the intensity in his voice and took a step away from him.

"I-I saw a dragon... Beautiful... I have never seen nor heard of it's like. Scales like crystalline stars, feathered wings the color of moonbeams.... and a voice like fallen starlight. She pleaded with me... Urging me to remember something, that we're running out of time." Kalia's golden eyes cleared and she met Asylynn's gaze.

"what's going on? who is that dragon?" She demanded.

Asylynn sat back on his haunches and met her gaze squarely. "She is gone, known to most of dragon-kind as the Star Crystal Dragon... she was stolen from this world by the dark Queen many years ago... no one has seen her since. It was said that she was the last remaining dragon born from Paladine, the last of his true daughters. she was to be his champion." He said, knowing full well he couldn't just come out and tell her the truth, she'd think he was insane.

"what was her name?" She breathed softly.

"Crystalamira" Asylynn said, and raised his gaze to the sky. "Come on, we should get some sleep, we take off at dawn..."

Kalia didn't respond, instead she had pulled out the crystal pendant with paladine's mark on it that Tika had given her. Asylynn saw this but refrained from commenting it.

Zav returned with a bundle of wood in his hands and dropped them in a pile. He began rubbing two together in an attempt to make fire. All he did was tire himself out and cut his hand.

As Asylynn landed, Karina floated over into a nearby tree. She count only bits and pieces of what the dragon-turned-human said, it was most certainly enough.

"......dragon... .............seen nor heard .............like crystalline stars, feathered wings........................... voice.........fallen starlight. ..........pleaded Urging...............something,...........running out of time."

Karina pondered this for some time as she watched the group from the safty of her tree. She glared at Kalia, willing her to forget, to lose this warning of another self. Karina wasn't nessacery lazy, but she would have liked to avoid unnessacery fighting. A simple kidnapping would do, but first Asysylnn would have to remove herself from Kalia's surrounding area. No way she would be abducting anyone in such close proximity to the opal dragon. She smirked as the blacksmith cut himself. The elf returned a second later, with more wood.

She retreated highly into the oak, until she was practically invisible, even with teh spells. She noted the green but did not worry about it. From there, she pulled out the Orb of Godly Talking.

"Mother." She whispered.

What is it, Karina?

"I am tracking Asysylnn to the Tower of Wayrenth. He's carrying Kalia, an elf named Selina, and a human named Zavier. Both mortal."

Good. Have they noticed you?

"There is also a green dragon tracking them, which has taken up most of their attention."

How fortunate.

"Yes, my Queen."

Continue your tracking. My blessings go with you.

She placed the Orb back into a hidden pocket and return to watching her prey.

Selina continued to delve into her Herbalism Studies until she suddenly realized the others may be hungry. Not eating meat herself, the Kagonesti had packed enough provisions for a week. Digging them out, she offered them to the group.

"I have enough rations for all of us, but it's all dried fruit and vegetables. Cheese and hard-breead and such. Will they do?"

Zav looked up in excitement at the mention of food. He had gotten the fire started with help from Selina.

"Bread and dried fruit sounds great!" Zav said.

"Lets see what Old Theros gave me." Zav said, curiously searching through his pack.

"Three bags of nuts and a two large full waterskins." Zav said taking, taking out a bag of nuts and munching away. He unscrewed the lid of a waterskin and began to drink some water.

Kalia didnt feel the least bit hungry, instead she moved towards the stream that flowed nearby...

She sat down at the edge, as solinari's light poured down upon her as it cleared the treeline. Her silver hair shimmered in the light and her gold eyes where shadowed. She leaned forward and she stared at her reflection in the water... though it was night, the reflection was clear, and for a breif moment she saw the image of the dragon in her dreams superimposed on her reflection.

"who are you?" She murmered, and then, softer still: "Who am I?"

Softly she whispered words that she had never heard before, a soft song that made her shiverin vauge recognition.

You don't remember me but I remember you
I lie awake and try so hard not to think of you
but who can decide what they dream?
and dream I do...

I believe in you
I'll give up everything just to find you
I have to be with you to live to breathe
You're taking over me**

BIC: The branch that Karina was perched on bowed a bit further as a girl appeared beside her. She had long dark hair, tied in a loose braid down her back. she wore a short tunic-style blue silk dress with an odd looking dragon stitched in silver on the right side. A silver sash tied the tunic at her waist, and she had intense blue eyes.

"I'd becareful if I where you, Karina.... the stronger she gets the more sensitive to the presence of shadow she will become... I say this for her safety as well as your own...." The girl appeared to be only around fifteen. "Just a bit of friendly advice" She said and dissapeared with a soft rush of wind.

Selinas doled out portions of her rations for herself and Zavier, wrapping the remaing portions back up and putting them back in her large backpack.

Setting her notebooks aside as well, the elfmaid tucked into her dinner of cheese, hard bread, vegies, and fruit. Every so often, she washed the food down with small sips of the elvenblossom wine she had remembered to retrieve from her cellar while packing.

Selina was just about to offer some of the food to Kalia, when she realized that the silver-haired human was gone. Looking around for a few minutes, she could hear rumblings of a stream nearby, as well as her friend's scent on the air current.

Concerned at why Kalia seemed so distracted and sad, Selina knew the girl must stil be plagued by thoughts of her drams and visions. Selina also knew that even though Kalia had wandered off to sort things out, she was still close by and would be safe as long as her dragon companion was here.

Karina glared. Given her current state, her glare was rather frightening, "I can look out for myself, thank you. I believe I know what I'm doing and how to do it. Nor do I need people explaining to me what i'm facing. That I know perfectly well also." She sighed, and then the girl was gone. She placed a hand over her Orb, making a mental note of the stranger.

Selina was just finishing up her small meal as Zavier spoke. The Kagonesti female did not know if Zav knew that they had been being followed by the green dragon, but she was wary to tell the blacksmith about it now. Although Selina couldn't explain why, she had a creepy feeling that they were being watched.

No need to offer any information to enemy ears, she reminded herself.

Putting her study materials away, Selina took out her longbow and quiver of arrows. The bow had been a birthday gift from her parents just before they were killed, the arrows she had made herself. Noticing that she only had 5 arrows left in the quiver, Selina set at making more.

BIC: The night passed with little incident, though Kalia's dreams kept her from getting the rest she needed. She woke long before the others and wandered to Asylynn's side. The dragon was also awake and they watched the sun clear the horizon.

"More dreams?" He asked, his voice almost a purr. Kalia nodded and rested her head on his shoulder. "They're getting...well not exactly worse, but more intense... I wish I could just remember whatever she wants me to remember..." She shivered at the insensity of her emotional state.

"Its as if someone is trying to take over....." She whispered. Asylynn looked at her for a long moment. "The pendant you wear, not the crystal one but the one that Caramon let you take...does it warn you against mistrust?"

Kalia shook her head. "No..." The dragon rumbled something softly and nudged her shoulder. "Then let it take over...perhaps you will find out who you are... the reflection of your self."

Kalia started and glanced back at him... but how could he have known what she saw in the reflection of the water at the stream? She turned away and then sighed. "I'd better wake the others..." She said and walked back towards the camp.

Karina glared down at Asylynn, knowning he couldn't see her, mentally shouting at the opal dragon. It would make this SO much easier if he went off to hunt or something. Hopefully, getting killed would be one of those 'or something's.

She shrugged to herself and pulled a couple of pieces of bread and a small thing of grapes and munched on them as she watched her stalkees (OOC: Is that a word?) wake up for another day of travel.

Throughtout the night, she had watched Kalia wake up, startled by her dreams, constantly. She didn't dare invade her dreams, in fear of waking her up from that light sleep she was in. And she had curled up onto Asylynn, making it impossible for Karina to abduct Kalia without him knowing, which would not be so good. Her intuition also nagged her to look into who the girl with the strange dragon on her sash, but didn't have time. Because of that, she made a mental note to look into it after she had gotten Kalia.

He stood and flexed each joint, testing them after the rest on the damp earth... and then waited for the rest to climb on.

Selina woke with a smile. She had slept peacefully in the night and had wonderful dreams about the journey to come. Unfortunately, the pleasent thoughts were sparatically interupted by shadowy images trailing the companions.

Must be nervousness over being followed yesterday.

She quickly scanned the sky just in case. No dragons.

Standing up, Selina stretched and smoothed her clothing. Rolling up her bedroll and packed it away, she then dug out her provisions for breakfast. She took out enough for the others as well, then re-packed the food as well.

By the time Selina had gotten packed and cleaned up, she was eating her breakfast when she saw Kailia approaching the campsite. She greeted her friend with a smile and offered her some breakfast.

OOC Sorry was away for a few days...

IC Silvan and bloodbane land far enough away to avoid being seen, the elf slid from the dragons back and Bloodbane departed with a look of disgust on his face.

Silvans night had just begun, he found tracks on the ground and followed these to an abandond camp, there were tracks everywhere, mercenaries most likely.

Silvan tracked them, following on silent feet, he move like the wind through the trees, in the distance he could see a fire light, the fools had lit a beacon so every robber band in this area could pinpoint there location.

Still, he thought this could work out to his advantage, by morning Silvan was ghosting along behind the band, there were perhaps ten, heavily armed men, they made so much noice that it was clear they were not trained warroirs.

They aproached the camp, silvan could see them preparing to leave, he ghosted around to the other side of the clearing and waited for the mercenaries to attack, he would help the group then he would be accepted as one of them, then it was just a question of time before he took her.

OOC This is my introduction to you little group, when they attack I'll help you fight them off then you can offer me a lift, is that ok???

"Who in the bloody Abyss is that?" Zav looked with shock across the grassy hills. A man was marching towards them. Then another...and another. Soon there were a good ten men walking towards them in no pattern whatsoever.

"Selina, Kalia! We have trouble!" Zav warned his friends. He rushed to his pack and got his fourth dagger and tucked it in his helt. Zav noticed the men had weapons and he buckled on his leather armor vest that was attached to his pack.

"I'll go see whats going on." Zav said, walking towards the oncoming group. Zav had his hands ready and on his daggers. He was getting close to the group, who seemed to not care he was there. In fact, they walked right passed him. Zav caught a glimpse of ones eyes. They were all white, no iris at all!

"Who are you? Put your weapons down! We have a dragon with us." Zavier shouted at the group, who continued to walk towards camp. Zav jogged to keep up with them. He was so confused. He heard them chanting something, but it wasnt coming out clear, they were muttering it. Then he had heard it!

"Must kill Kalia Majere." The mercenaries muttered in unison. Zav realized at that moment that these men were spellbound. He stopped in his tracks, making the distance between him and the men greater. He took a deep breath to fight his fear.

"You can do this. You have trained hard for times like this." Zav thought to himself, building up courage. With a loud yell, Zav pulled out two daggers and threw them quickly at the men. They struck two in the back, piercing through leather armor. The men halted and turned to face Zav, who stood their paralyzed with fear. The men were a good twenty feet away, between him and the campsite. The leader of the men grabbed two of the mercs by the neck and pushed them in my direction, the others continued on to the campsite.

The two approaching Zav both had longswords and leather armor. They walked towards Zav with a blank expression. Zav drew his last two daggers. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Zav began taunting them and put on a brave face.

"Come on you bastards!" Zav shouted at the men. The closest merc swung his longsword downward at Zav. The blacksmith quickly deflected it with a dagger and thrust the one in his offhand into the mercs gut. The mercs face changed from blank to shock. The man fell to the grass. The other merc learned from his partners mistake. He did not rush the fight, instead he circled Zav, discovering his strengths and weaknesses and waiting for the young blacksmith to make his move.

Zav, not knowing what to do and filled with odd excitement and confidence, threw the dagger in his right hand at the circling merc. The merc quickly stepped aside and slashed at Zav's forearm, making a nasty cut. Zav held his arm close and bent over in pain. The merc rushed towards him and Zav could only jump backwards, landing on the floor and avoiding the mercs sword. Zav kicked the merc in the back of the knee hard, making him fall to him knees. Zav lept onto the man, stabbing him in the back with his offhand dagger in the process. The merc went motionless and fell down into the tall grass. Zav just stayed on his knees, blood covering his face, leather vest, and the sleeves of his long sleeved shirt. Zav staggered up and rolled up his sleeves. The wound was not bad and could be easily tended.

Zav had forgotten all about his friends. He took up the fallen mercs sword and ran towards the campsite, where another fight was going on...

Kalia and Asylynn heard Zavier's shouts and both turned in his direction. The dragon's large size held him at a disadvantage in the close confines of the clearing, and he cursed himself for landing in such a bad spot. Then he remembered the necklace that Kalia had given him....and whispered words of magic.

Bands of silver shot out of the pendant and wound around his body, forcing it to become smaller.... when the bands faded the dragon was now half of his original size, and held the perfect advantage. With a roar the dragon attacked the first few of the mercs that reached the clearing.

Kalia had just enough time to cast one of the few spells she had prepared...She had always been good at combative magic...never needed a single componant....and rarely any words.. Hands flung out before her, her fingertips glowed red....and a fireball shot forth to catch one of the mercs in the chest.

Abrubptly Kalia could feel something within herself stir, uncoil and attempt to burst free like a dragon into flight. Her heart raced as she grew less aware of the world around her.

:Let go...:

Kalia gasped, and a pale white aura surrounded her... She had fallen to her knees, and she seemed intent on holding onto who she was.... but all the same, the mercs couldn't get near her.

Zav rushed back to the others. He was seperated by the group by the mercs in front of him. Zav only had one dagger and the longsword now. He sheathed his dagger and held the long sword with basic knowledge, having holding these in his career as a blacksmith. He knew the weight factors and how to use each part of the blade in a fight. He held the sword with both his hands. He charged into the group of mercs with confidence given to him by his victory over the two mercs, now dead by his hands.

A merc turned at Zav's shout and was struck in the head by Zav's dagger. Zav sliced at a mercs back from behind. The group didnt seem to pay much attention to Zav, who easily got through the group, back to his friends. He stood next to Selina, his sword ready.

IC Silvan watched from the edge of the tree's, the young blacksmith had done well, he thought.

The mercs were closing on them, maybe it's time for my little rescue he thought.

Jumping from his vantage point Silvan ran once more on silent feet untill he was no more than a few paces behind the on called Zav,

Then arrows fell like rain, the first merc fell with an arrow protruding from his forhead, the second had one in his belly, neck and left eye socket.

With a clinical detachment Silvan noticed these warriors were not falling back, something was pushing them forward, they ignored wounds that would have made an ordinary man retreat.

Silvan realised they would all have to die, "Are you going to use that sword puppy, or are you just going to stand and watch" Silvan shouted to Zav.

He loosed three more arrows into a third mercenary, he dropped to the ground with a girggling sound as the blood gushed from his mouth.

Silvan rounded the encampment firing arrows as he ran, not a single on missed there intended target, by his count three remained after his onslaught.

Kalia_Majere
09/03/2003 1:50 PM

Two of the remaining three approached Kalia.... She was still on her knees, but as they neared, she looked up. Her eyes glowed a feral gold, they where clear filled with a molton fury. finally after nearly a quarter of a century, her power was free, released from the chains that where placed upon it....

Unfortunately her memory was still locked away...she had no control over this power....

A shimmering form rose up from the aura that surrounded Kalia... wispy wings fanned the air, and the sun glittered brightly against the suggested Faceted scales of the dragon that appeared above her. The form was smokey and not fully defined, but it roared in anger and rushed the two mercs that where nearly upon her.

They screamed in terror as though they could finally see something other than their intended target. Their screeches died as the auraic form of the dragon passed through them. It whirled in the air and breathed a fine silvery mist onto the third, who coughed and choked before freezin solid where he stood.

The dragon turned it's firey golden eyes to the remainder of the group, and screeched in rage as it reared back to attack....

Karina knew that if Kalia's released power was so unleashed and untrained then she'd probaly get herself killed. Not to mention everyone else. Plus, untrained power was often stronged and could probaly dispel enough of her magic for Asysylnn to see her.

So she did what would be most logical: SHe whispered something magical or origins, something harsh that a human would not be able to comprehend, nor say. But her divine blood held her as she performed magick that should not be usuable on Krynn.

A ball of dark energy, it's outside static-ing with strength. She threw it at Kalia, hoping the power wouldn't kill her outright.

It hit Kalia in the small of her back, sending the human flying and the fierce half-material dragon dissapated as the chains that held the power were able to recapture it, taking at advantage of the energy.

Then Karina ran from the tree, knowing Asysylnn would look then, too behind the bunch instead. She looked down, and in front of the tree she now relaxed in was a crater. A crater which contined a very small, weak looking human looking badly damaged.

He walked by one of them, as he pulled out his arrow he heard a grunt and a gasp for breath, he kcik the man over, he was still alive,

With a dreadful slowness he placed the arrow on the bow, pulled back and released, the man let out a scream, then nothing, a dreadful quiet calm decended upon the clearing, smiling Silvan turned and walked back to the group.

The fight over (as far as she could tell), Selina quickly shouldered her bow and went to her friend's side. Kneeling at Kalia's side, she laid a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"It'll be okay my friend," she stated in common, "we'll figure things out."

He sighed and breathed a misted cloud of ice. "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer..." He folded his wings and realized another point.

"I cannot carry more than three... even with the Polymorph charm... We'll have to walk from here on. Besides, Wayerth will find us Soon enough.

He held the polymorph gem in his claws and again he was engulfed in a silvery mist. when it cleared an Elf stood in his place. He had angular features, almost hawkish

(think of the one elf in LOTR: Two Towers, not Legolas, but the one who led the Elven archers to the Keep... can't remember his name at this moment{EDIT: the elf's name was Haldir, Thanks to POD for the name ;)}...)

He wore rangers greens and browns, but carried no weapon. His violet eyes met each of his companions in turn, and the breeze toyed with his long white hair.

OOC: It would be useful for someone in Kalia's immediate group to notice the similarities between Asylynn's elven and dragon forms (The hair and eyes) And the oddities of Kalia's Hair and eye coloring, odd for a human that is ;)

As Selina walked up, she arrived just in time to see Asylynn's elven form. She did a slight double take as she took in his exotic violet eyes and long white hair. What made her really really look, however, was how similiar kalia now seemed to look like her dragon friend when he was in elven form. Kalia's long hair was more silver than Asylynn's...but still.

Trying to mask the curiousity on her face, Selina walked up to the two friends and handed them their belongings.

IC Silvan watched the group intently, then as there discusion continued his mind wandered through the echos of the past,

he was once again in the tavern in Palanthas, the merchant who had given him this job seemed nervous, almost to the point of outright fear, he had promised a kings ransom for the girl,

And yet it all seemed so false, the whole thing seemed wrong, a deep part of him told him to protect her, save her, something else seemed to be there as well, the greed in his soul, think of the money.

The two forces within fought there battle, fought for his soul,

Shaking himself from his day dreams he looked once again and saw the dragon in Elvan form staring at him, it almost seemed that he knew what Silvan had thought about.

Taking a deep breath he walked over to them, a questioing look in his eyes.

IC Silvan recovered quickly from the daydream "Well little one's what is it to be, do we go along to the towers of magic together or do we part here, come friends, safety in number wot"

Silvan smiled, this was going to be fun he thought.

OOC Kalia have you any objections to a little side trip on dragon back to Palanthas, I could club you over the head and spirit you away in the night, your friends could give chase, I could then have my little change of heart. or do you want to carry on to the conclave, and we can do something else later??????????

OOC: I don't mind that, but you won't keep her for long... I figure that somehow, even though you've kidnapped her, she saves your life or somethin... the real problem will happen in the Tower at Wayreth, when Karina takes her chance... and when Kalia realizes what she is and the fact nearly drives her to madness...

I'll post more later

OOC: I agree with Kalia. Karina is (I think) the main antagonist, as her mother's the Dark Queen. So at any point when Silvan (that's his name, right?), has Kalia, then Karina would get her from him. Which, was aforementioned, will happen at Wayrenth. So there. ^_^

BIC: Zav liked his new sword. He played around with it. It was from the first battle he ever had, so he decided to keep it for that. The blacksmith nodded to the new elf, not really trusting him all too much. He had to respect him though, since he did help them.

Zavier walked over to the dead mercs and plucked out his three missing daggers. He wiped the blood off with his white shirt under his green vest and put them back. Two in his belt and two in a shoulder strap going across his chest. He wedged the sword between the strap and his back, making it easy for him to get it if he reached back. That is all he had at the moment. He then put on his pack, and turned to the others.

"Im ready. I dont know the way, but then again, from what I hear of Wayreth, knowing the way has nothing to do with getting there or not." Zav said with a smile.

BIC: Asyl looked to Silvan, and only frowned. He shoulder the pack that Kalia had handed him. With a final glance at Silvan, he took the lead, heading down the trail with Kalia at his side.

For the first time doubt clouded his mind. He had known that this quest would be perilous and complicated at best...but now it seemed even worse. with not only Kalia's life held by a thread but the delicate balance of their entire world.

He cast a sideways glance at Kalia... her eyes where unfocused and her thoughts seemed to have turned inward. sorrow and pity fillled his being and he looked away. He cared for her, loved her even...but he would not be her for all the world... The Gods had placed such a burden on her that it was too much for one human... or rather one dragon to handle.

A shadow passed over the group as a cloud slipped over the sun. Asyl paused, barely a falter in his step as a darkness skittered across his awareness almost as fast as the slipped away from the sun...

He walked for a time in silence, gathering his thoughts, "Who is your friend she seems to be out of sorts this day, did the battle frighten her?"

Selina glanced at Silvan as they walked.

"Truth be told, I'm not to far from home. I was born in a forest not far from Xak-Tsaroth. I have lived and played in the forests of Abanasia (sp) all my life."

She glanced at Kalia before speaking again. She did not fully trust the male elf for some reason and felt protective of her friend.

"The battle surprised and shook us all," Selina said simply, "her mood is not surprising."

IC "Maybe little one, she is strange, my elvan sight sees two shapes formed within her, I do not understand this at all, and if I see it you see it too" Silvan spoke the last words in a valled accusation.

"I will scout on ahead, If we run in to trouble I will be best to deal with it" Silvan looked at the Elf "I say that not to be offensive, you all fought well, its just I have more experience".

With that Silvan ran forward moving with grace through the trees, after a few moments he felt at ease yes he was at peace, here amongst the trees his mind was no long clutered with thoughts he was at one with the world about him, he felt free once more, if only for a short time.

Silvan scouted ahead for most of the day untill he came to a small clearing, he turned to go fetch the others, who were only a short distance away, thats when he felt it, a chill, a fear deep in his soul, turning back he no longer saw the clearing, it was gone.

He stood frozen his bow drawn ready to fire the arrow he had set, the trees here were not the same, they were alive, that he new for sure, there was a presence here, a warning that chilled him sweat glissened on his head as the fear moved through him his fingers were bleeding as the others approached, he turned startled as one of them stepped in to view, for the first time in his life Silvan felt the ice grip of fear round his heart.

"What is this, magic?" Silvan said in a shaking voice as the others approached.

Kalia_Majere
10/28/2003 11:46 AM

Kalia laughed softly, and Asyl rested his hand on her shoulder. "calm thyself... we have simply reached our destination.... the Forest of Wayerth." Aysl replied. Kalia's smile faded and she looked around her calmly, a touch of fear in her golden eyes.

"There... A path... if we follow that we will be at the tower in no time..." She said pointing out the way. She slipped past Asyl and took the lead, not once looking behind to the others as she walked on.

Asyl watched her for a moment before quickly following.

Karina beamed; the forest would hide her own magic. With the noise of the wind, she quickly followed Asyl into the forest, hiding off the path and in teh forest. The dead touched her robes, but she paid them no heed.

Watching Silvan scout ahead, Selina thought about his words about Kalia. She may not fully trust her elven brother, but knew he was right. Often the Kagonesti Herbalist had thought she sensed another form within Kalia's shadow, but as quickly as it came it seemed to vanish again. Looking at her friend up ahead, Selina had to admit that the Human's appearance was strangely exotic with her long silver hair and gold-colored eyes. For the second time that day, the elfmaid marvelled at the resemblance btween Kalia and Aysl....

Hearing the disgused dragons words about arriving at Wayrenth, Selina shook herself out of her reverie and picked up her pace, easily catching up with the others as Kalia led the way.

He steeled his voice as he spoke trying to make light of what he thought.
"The trees are like none I have ever seen, they reach out to your soul, I think." he said to the kittke group.

"Do you feel it little one" He said to selina, "I have been in many lands and with the exception of the shoikan grove in Palanthas this is the most uninviting place I have ever been, It seems to call to you, wanting you to stray from the path so that the untold horrors can devour you".

Silvan cursed his idle chit chat, he had mentioned the grove, he had not intended to speak of that cursed place, he looked about no-one seemed to have noticed, he thought, squaring his shoulders he walked on through the whispers that called to him.

Selina did indeed sense the creepinessof the forest, and she shivered a little as she walked the path. She nodded at Silvan's assessment of the trees, and then realized the male elf had mentioned the dark grove in Palanthas.

Her green eyes looked at him with curiousity and surprise. She also had a hint of suspiousion but it did not show on her beautiful face.

"You've been to the Lord City? I've heard you have to be pretty close to the grove in order to feel it's affects. Why would you want to risk being near that dangerous place?" Selina's words were spoken in the Kagonesti language, for even after 5 years of living in Solace she could speak Common relatively clear, the elven tongue still came more naturally to her than the language of the Humans.

Selina listened to Silvan's explanation in silence. She understood that a sword being for sale usually meant you were a mercenary...or an assassin. What she didn't understand, nor was comfortable with, was that the Silvesti had been summoned by the Master of the evil tower, the very man that controlled the grove of death.

And the fact that Silvan's earlier words had made Kalia's pendant glow proved that the male elf wasn't being truthful about something. The elvenwoman's instincts told her that Silvan was being evasive on purpose.

Glancing up at Kalia, Selina looked back at Silvan a bit confused. "That's Kalia, "she said, "I introduced her to you just after the battle, remember?"

The group followed Kalia in apprehensive silence as she followed the path through the trees....and eventually where rewarded...

The sight of the "tower" of wayerth is shocking to those who have never seen it... not a single tower reaching to the heavens like the one in Palanthas...or the crumbled ruins in the elvan lands.... but seven towers altogether ( I think that's right... I can't remember... and I can't find my book on Dalamar...dang it)

The gates swung open at Kalia's touch and inside the immense courtyards they could see several people in mutitudes of white, red and black.....

Kalia turned to the others and smiled before she turned and walked into the sunlit courtyard.

Lunitari0
11/16/2003 8:11 PM

Selina looked on in amazement as they entered the courtyard. Towers of all three moon colors, white, red, and back, reached high into the sky. And the people in the courtyard were dressed the same way in the respective colors of their dieties. The elfmaid had heard that mages of the 3 orders did not get along well, but watching the people here in the courtyard, you never would have known it. Magi of the 3 orders spoke openly - some were studying books or scrolls, some were trading artifacts, some were talking quietly to each other.

Smiling, Selina followed Kalia further inside.

Silk
11/17/2003 1:46 PM

Silvan shuddered as he walked through the gate, his brother was somewhere here in this fortress of power, the moment he dreaded was approaching, Silvan was not looking forward to it.

"It is truely a sight to behold,"

Silvan made his way up to Kalia, "I would ask a boon of thee, I have no knowledge of the ways of such a place, I must speak with my brother Solkas, he has resided in these walls for many a year, but I fear that I may anger the orders with requests of one who is not versed in magic........Might I ask you to speak on my behalf on this matter".

Silvan's question was in awe of this place and that made him nervous, his question to Kalia was in part true, he was in fear of magic but he would never have admitted it, but he did not wish to confront the heads of the other orders for fear they might see in to his black and decietful heart.

OOC When you go to see the masters of this tower, you could either leave me behind or if you want you could make sure I went in there with you all and someone could drop a few hints about the charm Im carrying to get through the Shoikan Grove when I steal Kalia away in the night?????? PS Glad your back.

Kalia_Majere
11/17/2003 3:12 PM

Kalia listened to Silvan's words and nodded. "I wouldn't mind.. but first things first..." She glanced at Asylynn and then turned towards the center tower....

A mage in black robes stood at the foot of the tower, just inside the archway.

"The conclave is expecting you... " He said, gesturing for them to proceed him. As Silvan passed a strong sense of familiarality washed over the mage and he stared at the elf for a long moment...

Odd for an elf who is not a mage to be washed with Nuitari's power...I should speak to Lodonna about this...

The mage followed the goup as they made their way to the solar at the top of the tower... The heads of each order awaited them... the black robed mage slipped past them and whispered something in Lodonna's ear before Par-Salian could say a word, and though the aging mage glanced at Lodonna questioningly she only shook her head.

Karina walked inside quietly, smirking to herself. Her power was amplified here; if Asyl didn't sense it he was blind. Her magic hid her, but again, it was both amplified and decreased....if he tried hard enough, the opal dragon would sense the Dark Queen.

She watched Kalia warily, turning an irisless eye to the rest of the mages to shut them up. None would dare invoke her wrath at this point.

"Very soon now..." she whispered.

Asyl indeed sensed the presence that had shadowed them since Solace....however he remained silent...

Kalia stepped forward. "Thank you for seeing us... I am unsure on how to go on from here... my friends here accompanied me here so that I could discuss something that had been troubling me ever since I passed my test here..."

She paused and glanced at Asyl, and noted the intense concentration in his features...

"I have been having dreams ever since...dreams that I can never fully remember... but always leave me filled with terror upon waking.. and they always seem to be filled with the shadows of dragons. That is all I can ever remember of them..."

OOC: Would anyone like to take over the council?

PrincessOfDarkness
11/19/2003 2:56 PM

OOC: I will, but I don't know if they know that Kalia's really a dragon or not. And is this set when Par-Salian, Justarius, and Ladonna are leaders?

Kalia_Majere
11/19/2003 4:11 PM

OOC: They don't really know... if they did she may have never been allowed to take the test... but perhaps they would send her to see a certain librarian in Palanthas?? Yea that would work and get her where silvan needs her... and give her an inkling on where to go from there...for we all know that Astinius doesn't give anyone straight answers...;)

Par-Salian looked at Justarius and he gaveve the white mage a little shrug.

"We do not know, Kalia," He said after a moment of silence, "But if you are seeking knowledge upon dreams rather then magik, perhaps you should go to Astinus of Palanthas. He is a very wise man, I am sure you know of him." He nodded to her once, "You have loyal friends to have travelled with you through teh forest of Wayrenth. May the Moons guide your path," The Head Magus sat back down and observed the dragon-turned-elf's reaction.

~*

Karina swore. Al she needed was runnin to and from this tower; it made her presense more easily sensable. She cursed Par-Salian and his mages, glad she did not have to take part in this...she was above it.

For her sheer amusement, somwhere in the back she became visible. ANyone acute enough would sense the flare of dark energy, then settling back into a more normal tone. Karina now walked with teh rest of the Black Robed Magi, some of them taking note of her with a curt nod. She made brief eye contact with Par-Salian, who nodded quickly back, then focused her hidden gaze in between Kalia and Asyl.

Asylynn...my mother's little runaway...and Kalia....my mother's new pet.....

As the Heads of the orders advised Kalia on her next course of axtion, Selinalistened intently. The young Kagonesti herbalist found the Mages very interesting, and the magic in the Tower made the natural magic in her elven blood tingle with life.

Somewhere in the room, the woman felt a sudden rush of power. Not being a Mage, her mind could not tell what sort of power it was, but the chill up her spine like the crawling of spiders, told the elfmaid it was a dark and evil power.

Then the feeling vanished.

Glancing around, Silena saw only Mages of the 3 moons and her companions. Opening her other elven senses, still no other presence could be found, so Selina turned her attention back to the meeting with the Mages.

Silvan felt the eyes in the dark robed mage looking at him, he kept his eyes to the floor, not wanting to return that penatrating gaze.

The charm which hung round his neck burned hot, he could hear the whispers again, he thought, they had been the forrest, some trick of the mages, but they were hear, they spoke to him but he could not make out the words.

Silvan was ashen faced when he looked round the others seemed to move and yet they were standing still, the world began to spin, he saw nameless faces, looking at him, people he knew but could not recognise, faster it span, he staggered forward reaching for Selina, then blackness and falling.

Selina caught Silvan as he fell, suprise and confusion on her features. Lowering her elven brother to the floor gently, she knelt and checked him over. He was unconsious but his pulse was strong.

"He fainted." she reported in the common tongue to the Mage Council and her friends.

Standing up and reaching through her smallest pack for a vile. Going back to the elven male on the floor, she opened the small tube and looked at the essembled group.

"A herbal mixture akin to human smelling salts." the Kagonesti female explained before passing under Silvan's nose in order to wake him.

"I...I'm sorry" He stammered, then rising with Selina's help he straightened and shook his head, "I dont know what came over me" He said shuddering.

"Thank you little one" he said with genuine gratitued, he withdrew a short way into the darkness, his breathing was heavy and he felt drained, he got the feeling someone had been searching through him, whether they found what they were looking for Silvan could not be sure.

Selina nodded as she withdrew her hand from helping Silvan stand. She regarded the Silvanesti male curiously as he continued to breath rather heavy.

"Perhaps you should sit down." she said as she looked at an empty chair.

Replacing her vile of herbal mixture to her pack, the Kagonesti female again turned her attion to the meeting at hand, wondering if the Mage Council or her companions had anything more to say.

Asyl gave Silvan a cool glance, and then turned his attentions back to the conclave, and to Kalia.

The young woman stood in silence, her eyes closed as she thought furiously on the problem at hand. "Astinius is as forthright in his answers as a Cheshire Cat... and that is at his best... however I agree with your recomendation Par-Salian... Some sort of answer is better than no answer at all..." She said and nodded.

Par-Salian smiled and stood. "At least stay the night here... you are weary and are in need of some rest." He said with a pointed glance at Silvan.

Asyl nodded. "In this you are correct, Archmage. I for one would be grateful..." He said glancing at the others. Kalia only nodded, once again lost in her thoughts.

"I thank you for the help and guidance you have offered my friend, Master Mage. Perhaps may I ask a question of my own? You see, I have a wish to continue my studies in herbalism and natural healing. Karina wondered exactly how to pull this off. She'd need to get Asylynn out of there, obviously. And the elf would merely be in teh way. Both of them, for that matter.

Scaling a set of stairs, she opened one empty room, "This will be your room, Lady," She murmured under the hood still facing away from them and waved into the room. She pointed quickly to Selina.

Before the elf could protest, she continue down the hall to make sure that the other three were still following. She showed Silvan where he was then skipped over several rooms before pointing Asylynn's out.

"This will be your room, Lord," she said, smirking to yourself, "I hope you will make yourself comfortable."

The Kagonesti woman wondered at the way Karina was acting, but realized that perhaps most Black Robes were so tempermented. The mysterious female led the rest of the group away before Selina could say goodnight, so the elf just watched where everyone's rooms were before entering her own and closing the door.

Setting her packs down beside the bed, Selina quickly dug out a notebook, quill and ink, and sat down at a modest table. This notebook was seperate from the one filled with her herbal remedies and such. The notebook that the Kagonesti now wrote in was something of a journal. It was here that Selina took the time to record every moment and event of her journey thus far.

After making quite a long and detailed entry, Selina than put her writing supples back safe in her packs, then checked to make sure all her belongings and weapons were still accounted for since the beginning of the trip. Finding everything well and in order, the elfmaid stetched out on the bed and listened to the various noises of the Towers of Wayrenth.

Karina waited until Asyl had entered her room before skipping two more an doors. Opening one to Kalia, she motioned inwards.

"This will be your room, Lady Kalia," She said in teh same tone she had used for the others. As the dragon-turned-elf stepped inside, Karina followed her and locked the door, "Though, I think a nice prison in teh abyss would suit you better, Crystalamira!" As she moved closer and grabbed the hem of the girl's robes, her hood flew off, revealing her strange features, and she sneered, "So more Asylynn can do for you!"

Kalia whirled, and cried out in shock at the woman's appearance. "Who are you?" was all she could ask... and then the name actually registered on her benumbed mind. Wasn't that the name that Asyl had given the dragon from her visions?

"Crystalamira? Why did you call me that?" She gasped.

With Karina as the catalyst, the darkness reached for what was once lost...A dark circle surrounded the pair, pulsing with an evil that made Kalia cry out in pain.

At last... I will have what was once MINE! rasped a voice that echoed oddly.

Kalia's mind was in a tormoil as she collapsed... and the whispered voice that she had heard so many times in her visions and dreams spoke to her through the darkness...

I'll catch you as you fall
say you're here and it's all over now
speaking to the atmosphere
no one's here and I fall into myself
this truth drives me into madness
I know I can stop the pain if I will it all away

(don't turn away)
don't give in to the pain
(don't try to hide)
though they're screaming your name
(don't close your eyes)
Gods know what lies behind them
don't turn out the light
never sleep, never die

I'm frightened by what I see
but somehow I know that there's much more to come
immobilized by my fear
and soon to be blinded by tears
I can stop the pain if I will it all away
If you will it all away.....**

Immediately Asylynn burst from his room, a wordless cry escaping his lips as he slammed his shoulder into the door.

"NO!" He growled as the door didn't so much as rattle in its frame. "Damnit!" He spat knowing full well that his magics now had no effect. The black robe that had led them into the towers had appeared, as well as several others. "someone's opened a portal in there!" One of the mages said and Asyl spun around to face the speaker.

Karina grabbed Kalia's wrist, hurling the girl into the portal. Kicking the door open so the rest of them saw her victory, she jumped in behind Kalia and used her divine magic to close the portal behind her.

Landing on the "floor" of the abyss, she saw the human on the ground, unadjusted to the feeling of the place. Walking brusquely up to her and pulling Kalia to her feet, she beckoned the girl behind her.

Sighing in relief, she pulled off the hood of her robe and dropped the gloves, revealing her grey skin and onyx hair and lip. She looked at dragon-turned-human and smirked at her.

"Come, Crystalimira.....my mother wants an audience with you...."

Asylynn watched in disbelief as the portal closed behind the woman... and he definitly recognized her.

"Damnit!" He spat fury burning in his violet eyes. "we have to follow..." He turned and met the questioning eyes of those gathered.

"You don't understand... that Mage has taken Kalia to the Abyss... and if her power is unlocked, it could mean doom for all of us... "

"There is only two roads to the Abyss M'lord..." the dark robed mage said his eyes flickering to Silvan for a moment. "Death... or the Portal in Palanthas Tower..."

"there's no way we'd get through the Shoikan grove let alone the portal itself!" Asyl growled.

"I suggest you ask your elven friend here... since he is protected by Nuitari's power some how...." The mage said and turned to leave.

Asylynn turned on Sylvan, his hand twisting into the elf's collared shirt, pulling him close. "I don't like you elf, and now I know why... but first is first, can you get us through the Grove?" He snarled, anger sparking in his eyes.

Turning to look at Silvan, yet doing nothing to calm Asyl's anger, her emerald eyes reflected her anger and confusion of the situation. Silvan's eyes glittered dangerously, "Your move, my Lord" He spat the last words with contempt,

In truth Silvan was willing to help, he felt he was being used like a puppet on a string, and he didn't like it, he would help them, he thought but he was damn sure when they reached Palanthas he would gutt the merchant and the mage behind this little sharade.

Selina walked beside Asyl in agitated silence. The closest that Selina had ever come to living in a city or town was Solace, and even then she had built a cabin near the lake away from the populus. Now they were in Palanthas, said to be one of the largest cities in Ansalon. The city, with it's stone streets and lack of nature was unsettling to the elvenwoman's Kagonesti blood.
