OOC: I posted this idea in another thread, and though no one said anything on it, I'm gonna post it anyway....

BIC: Hitomi shrieked with rage and threw the small hand mirror across her small room. Tears filled her dark brown eyes as it shattered in to a thousand shards.

"damn him...." She sobbed. The disguarded uniform lay folded at the foot of her bed, as well as the simple sword that she had been issued when she joined... She sloughed the tears off her cheeks roughly and stared out of the window. Palanthas, city of wonder she had once thought. Growing up in the port city of Flotsom, she had fled to Palanthas and got a position amung the guard... She fought her way up the ranks, and now, as the captain of the guard, she was forced to leave it all behind.

She picked up her father's sword and belted it in place. With a vicious tug she braided her dark brown hair in a single plait, though some long wisps tumbled free and framed her tanned face. She grabbed her cloak from the peg by the door and sighed....

She glanced back at her small room, and her frown returned... Twenty years... she had known him that long. He fled from Flotsom with her, and applied for the Guard as well... She kept him as a partner even though she outranked him... All that time... she had harbored a Killer....

The Lord of Palanthas, dead... and now He was wanted for the murder... She cursed venhemently and slammed the door.

She would be the one to hunt him down... no one else...

OOC: Okay, Hitomi's (Or Tomi) Freind and colleuge is wanted for the murder of the lord of palanthas. Her friend Did Not do it, he was framed, but who actually did, and why remains to be seen. so whomever plays the char will have to remember that. also, other "bounty Hunters" and mercs are fine, it's just that Tomi feels so betrayed by this whole ordeal that she wants to get him herself...

OOC: Quick Note:

I have found someone who wants to play Hitomi's colleuge... so the character is taken. Sorry all ;) but please, feel free to play other characters....

ooc: Did I hear the word Merc? all right, my kinda story. Im in.

BIC: He yawned. The big city life was boring. Not enough action or him, what with the guards always breaking up fights, and stopping crime. A good mercanary like himself could barely find work in these parts, strange though, for such a large city.

"Now they say...."

He caught the tail end of a story as two older gentleman entered the bar.

"They say that the killer was one of the city guard! And they cant find him anywhere. They think he may have skipped town." said one man to the other.

"Oooohhh. Interesting. Things do happen in this town." thought Jorgan. He listened on, intent on knowing more.

"And I hear that one of the other guards was under suspicion too..." said the man again, filling in his comrade as they seated themselves at the bar. "I'm not too sure about that one though, not much has been said, but it's a woman from what I hear. Don't know the relationship between the two though...." his talk drifted off into the weather, and politics, and all of those things that old men talk about.

Jorgan pondered for a moment. "Somebody died, and a guard is the expected murderer. That much I've gathered. Somehow there seems to be another guard involved, possibly a woman." He took a drink of his water, and a few bites of his soup. "Now the guy has left, skipped town apparently...... though it IS a big town and he may be hiding somewhere. Now how is this woman involved I wonder? Wife? Lover? Family? Shit, who knows." he concluded.

"But I bet there's a pretty penny on his head, if the City Guard cant find him...... This sounds like it's worth looking into."

With that, he paid for his meal, picked up his backpack, adjusted his swords, and left in search of more information.

"Perhaps somebody can fill me in at the Barking Gremlin. he thought, as he headed down the street towards another bar, this one an even lower dive than the one he had just left.

OOC: Sounds like an interesting story. I think I'm in as well, and I'll try and come up with a good character by tomorrow. Just have to decide what type I want to play. Never tried a female bounty hunter or mercenary, so maybe there is something there. We'll see.

Eminy leant on the bar in the Barkin Gremlin Inn, absently polishing the same spot of bar surface over and over again, her face covered in a far away look. A lock of her long dark brown hair flitted across her eyes, and she waved it away absently with the otehr hand. Her soft features crumpled momentarily into a scowl at the distraction, before her large hazel eyes recaptured their far away look. She was off again, as was her custom. If daydreaming had been a job, she would have been first in her profession.

Alas, it wasn't. Her job was as bar staff and serving girl in this dirty little hovel at the request of her father, a large, routund man by the name of Logar. His temper was famously shorter than his hair (of which he had none), but he served a mean grilled chicken soup, and the ale was cheap. For this reason alone the clientel were not exactly the most savoury of characters, and their hands would be far too frisky for Eminy's liking, but she knew how to handle herself. Any man who's hand mysteriously found it's way to her rump like a kenders hand will acidently find your money pouch soon decided to remove it. They found they liked their testicles where they were, and the dagger that was aimed at them was especially blunt and rusty. They were reliably informed of this by their serving girl as she smiled at them sweetly and dug the dagger in that little bit more.

However, today was slow, and there were no punters in the bar with which to sport, so Em decided that today she would partake in her other favourite past time, day dreaming of the day some handsome young man would come into the bar and whisk her away off on adventures of all kinds. He would throw open the door to the inn, see her behind the bar, and instead of asking for a pint of ale would jump over the bar top and gather her up in his arms, planting a fierce kiss on her lips. He would then tell her he had been searching the four corners of Krynn to find her, before lifting her into his strong arms, vaulting back over the bar top, and whisking her away. All this would be dome without so much as a single strand of his long dark hair falling out of place. When her father tried to stop him, he would simply tell him to go away before he had to make him. She wanted to get out of the place so badly, but found that it would be nigh on impossible without someone else. So she day dreamed.

Em sighed. She had just got to the part of her day dream where her "saviour" was telling her father to go away before he had to make him, her father cowering in the corner on the verge of blubbering, when the door burst open. The light struck her, and the silver strands that were buried in her dark brown locks were struck by the light. She turned her eyes to see who would enter.

OOC: I wouldn't mind at all....save you stay this time :P

BIC: Hitomi walked into the tavern, her hood drawn up to hide her features, and she lay a steel peice on the counter in exchange for the tankard of ale that the barmaid set down. She took the mug and found a shadowed corner near the hearth and sat down.

She hadn't come here to find her former friend, but, perhaps, to gather information... To sift through the rumors for the truth....

She took a long drink and grimaced... today, as everything else, the ale tasted stale and bitter...

OOC: More to post, but will have to do it later :)

" And ya know what he said?! Do ya? Do ya? He said ' I love ya man'! And then i was like.....and then.....and.....uh......." The rambling drunk fell asleep and his head slammed to the table.

Sitting across from him, rubbing his forehead in annoyance, Theron patted the man on the head.

" I've gotta go to the bathroom Betrem, see you.....uh...tomorrow." Theron whispered to the knocked out drunk with a smile. He rose from his chair. His strange attire caught a lot of attention, but many of the more civilized folk knew he was a monk of the ice goddess Corill. Theron had a bright blue spikey mohawk running down the middle of his head. He wore black pants with ice diamond emblems on the knee caps. He wore no shirt, revealing his outstanding martial arts physique. Theron used his body well in battle, relying on only one other thing, his metal staff.

Theron was not Corills favorite follower, but she granted him enough tricks in battle to have the edge in any hand to hand fight. He could make his fists covered in ice for example, and not feel the cold on his hands. He could touch something and make a layer of ice appear over it, though not as thick as Corills favorite followers.

The young monk walked over to the bar and ordered cold water. One of the men next to him laughed.

" Ha, ya pansy. Cant handle ale?" The laughing man said, showing his rotten teeth.

" The ladies must love you. Want me to cool that for ya. It looks a bit warm." Theron said with a wide grin motioning to the mug of ale the man was olding. Theron placed his hand over the top of the mug. He lifted his hand away and took his water back to his table. The man at the bar looked at the man walking away in confusion. He swung the mug up to take a gulp. A block of frozen ale slid down, hitting the man in the face. The man looked at Theron, in wide eyed fear turned away quickly, ordering another beer.

Name: Brooke Daggerstar
Race: Human
Age: 23
Hair: Dark Brown/black, short, curly
Eyes: Violet
Family Origin: Flotsam
Rank: Mercenary

BIC: Brook sat at the bar listening to all the idle chatter going in and out of the dingy bar as she sipped at her ale. watcing and listening, the girl took in her surroundings: a shy-looking barmaid, who seemed incredibly bored with her work, some drunk chatterbox who had finally passed out on the table, two men talking about a guard being suspected of murder...that could be interesting Brooke thought to herself....and a couple of jerks picking on a poor monk.

A few minutes later, the young mercenary was forced to revise her opinion of the monk when he appeared to freeze the contents of his antogizers mug. Brooke smirked slightly, seeing the confusion and fear on the mans face. She loved seeing old farts like that one put in his place.

Then someone else entered the bar, hood up. The person laid some coin on the bar and sat down with a drink.

Hitomi sighed and kept her ears open when several of the city guard, fresh off-duty sauntered into the tavern. They where carrying on about some raid they had pulled of at one of the warehouses by the docks... they ordered up a round of dwarven spirits and one by one joined in on their own little tradition, a song, sung in praise of a job well done.

Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the dust settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing, dwarven spirits for my men, ale for my horses

We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds
We’ve got too much corruption, too much crime in the streets
It’s time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground
Send ’em all to their maker and he’ll settle ’em down
You can bet he’ll set ’em down ’cause

Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the dust settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing, dwarven spirits for my men, ale for my horses

They all drank and even Hitomi, out of habit raised her tankard in salute and drank.

The Seargent in the group turned to another and they broke up into smaller groups... all in similar conversations.

The seargent made an odd sound of disbelief and disgust. "No way... The Captain resigned, She left her uniform and issue-sword behind in her quarters."

A younger girl in Hitomi's former regiment shook her head. "everyone thinks she had something to do with it..." She denied. The seargent slammed his fist against the table.

"I still say no way! Tomi wouldn't have..." He flushed and shook his head. "If you knew her at all, you wouldn't be saying that Lissa...." He said.

"But they grew up together, trained together." She prostested

"I'll not say it again Lissa... Tomi would never do such a thing... " He said, and though Lissa didn't seem convinced, she realized that saying anything further might get her into more trouble than she needed, and refrained from speaking further. She left the Seargent alone and joined another group.

Hitomi slowly let out the breath she was holding and wanted dearly to punch something...or someone... So that was it, half of the city probably thought she had something to do with it... She was about to get up and leave when the seargent turned, met her eyes and raised his mug in a salute.

She met his eyes with surprise and then smiled. she turned and headed for the door, she didn't think she'd find out any more information tonite.. As she left she met the eyes of several people, the barmaid, a monk, a couple of un-named Mercs or such. Her hand strayed to her sword and she walked out of the tavern.

Theron walked back to his table with a wide grin. He tapped the drunk on the head and he woke up.

" Oh, hey Theron! Long time no see." the drunk said with dreary eyes.

" Yeah, sure Betrem, its been a LONG time." Theron laughed. " So, you came here to tell me something right?."

" Oh yeah, um, what was it? Oh I came to talk about the murder of the king!" Betrem shouted. Everyone in the tavern looked at their table. A couple of the guards pacing around walked up to the table. Theron put his hand over his face in embarassement.

" He's very drunk." Theron explained to the guards with a smile.

" We just came to say hello, Theron." One of the guards said, patting the oddly dressed monk on the back. " Hows little Peter doing at that school of yours?" The guard asked.

" Oh little Peter is doing just fine. I heard about the way he stood up to that bully kid i school and used words instead of his fists. Thats exactly the message i am trying to get across. Yes, Mr. Roberts, Peter is doing great." Theron said, lifting his glass of water to his lips.

" Im sure you get this a lot Theron, but you dont look like a monk. You look more like a punk. I guess we can call you the Punk Monk. Hahaha." The two guards laughed and Theron gave a slight smile. The two guards, intrigued into conversation, pulled up chairs and sat down. Theron put his glass down to speak.

" Yes, Corrill, the goddess of ice, doesnt even know why she chose me. She says theres something about me that doesnt meet the eye. Im sure she'll abandon me if I make the wrong move, like go punch that guy with the frozen beer at the bar in the face." Theron said with a grin. " Corill believes in me though. She thinks i can decrease violence in Krynn by teaching people when they are young. She taught me the ways of pacifism when i was living in a cave for seven years. She saved my life once, against a dozen goblins. She came to Krynn in her form of the great white dragon and froze all of them. So the least i could do for her is promise to only use my powers and fighting skill on evil, and teach children not to stray into evil." Theron said to the guards. The monk was very thirsty now and took a big gulp of the cold water. The guards looked at him with wide eyes.

" Wow Theron, i didnt know you were that, uh, deep!" One of the guards said. " Heres to you, and thank you for teaching my boy." The guard said raising his mug of ale. " See you later Theron." The other guard said. The two of them rose from their chairs and head over to their group of friends.

Brooke nearly spiout her ale as she heard the shocking statement.

I came to talk about the murder of the King!

The King, the Lord of Palanthus was the one who had been killed? No wonder it was all the talk of the guards in the tavern - especially if an earlier comment was true and one of those very guards were under suspsion. But it was rumored that the guard in question had skipped town. That doesn't look good if he wishes to try and prove his innocents. If he is innocent that is. The dark-haired mercenary thought to herself.

What is up with that woman? The same person that had just sat down and had a drink, had made tracks as soon as a group of guards had started to discuss the murder. Apparently the girl named Lissa thought that someone named Tomi had her hand in the killing somehow. The fact that this Tomi had apparently trained and grown up with the accused guard didn't look good for her, but Brooke knew from experience that things weren't always how they seemed.

Brooke continued sipping her ale until the mug was empty, laid a few coins on the bar as she nodded at the young woman who picked up her glass, and left the bar. As the door closed, she heard the last bits of a conversation between the monk named Theron and a guard, apparently wanting to check on his sons studies.

There's nothing else to do right now,the woman thought to herself with a sigh, and this murder thing sounds interesting. Maybe I can help figure out what happened.

Em nodded back polietly to the woman who handed her an empty ale mug, and looked after her whistfully as she left the bar. If only she could be someone like that! She had the skills, she knew she did! Whenever she had a spare moment, she would be practicing the few sword fighting techniques that she had picked up from her uncle, a mercenary himself. It was just the whole confidence thing, or more specifically, her lack of it.

She looked around her and noticed that another table had been vacated, one in a dark corner. She made her way around to it, sashying her way past two very drunk old men, some members of the city watch, and a young monk whho, although unconventional to say the least was not at all unatractive and his more than very drunk companion. As she walked past she realised that she had been staring at the monk. He caught her gaze and she quickly looked away, a red flush creeping up her neck.

She arrived at the table and began to clean it with the same rag she had been polishing the bar top with, making sure that she did not bend over too much. The short short skirt and the low cut, off the shoulder top that was her 'uniform' did not leave much to the imagination at the best of times, and she figured that the last thing any of the creeps in here needed was any more encouragement. Well, maybe the weird looking monk could.....................then she remembered his friend.

Hadn't he been the one who said that the King was dead? Murdered? She was sure he meant the lord of Palanthas, because she had heard of similar mutterings. Then she remembered the mercenary woman. Maybe she was going to find out who the real murderer was!!! How exciting! This might be her one chance!!!! With all this talk some big tall, handsome, dark haired and dark eyed merc was bound to show up and declare his undying love!!!!! Of course, the monk was cute, but he wasn't a mercenary, and was probably not allowed to get married, or even have a torrid affair come to think of it!

Em giggled slightly to herself as she continued to clean the table. She picked up the empty ale muh and was just about to leave for the bar again when she noticed something glinting on the floor. She bent down to pick it up, forgetting what she was dressed in until a loud whoop went up from the assorted male clientel. She stood up abruptly, trying to pull her skirt down a bit further and her top up a bit further still while holding onto the empty mug in one hand and the whaterver it was off the floor in the other, the flush now not just creeping up her neck, but covering her face completely. She walked back up to the bar to compose herself a bit more, and examine what she had found.

Once safely behind the bar she put the mug down and examined what turned out to be what looked like a broach of some kind, or a clasp that would hold together a cloak. It looked like something she had seen before.............but where?

"Another pint here when your ready darlin!" called out a patron. She whirled around, ready to give him some smart arse comment about not being a darlin when she noticed the clasp on his cloak. he was a member of the city guard. She tried frantically to remember who had been sitting at that table...............a woman........dark hair.....plait.........tanned........that was it! She must return this to her, it wouldn't be right not to!

Ignoring the slightly sozzled gurad man at the bar, she ran out after the woman.

Hitomi heard the door to the tavern open and then slam shut again as the barmaid ran out. Tomi blinked as a flash of lightning streaked across the darkened sky and rain began to fall.

She didn't pay much attention to the girl, but at the sky above, wishing she could vent her rage and greif as easily as the sky above. it was only then that she realized her clasp was missing as her cloak fell to the wet cobble-stones, sodden with rain. Her dark hair clung to her cheeks as she allowed the rain to soak her to the skin.

Theron caught the gaze of the barmaiden. How beautiful she was, but she looked incomplete, as if this was not the life she had dreamed of. He kept watching her.

When one of the men she was serving whistled as she bent over, Theron rose instantly. He watched as the barmaiden left the bar, with a cloak on. He saw the embarassed look on her face.

Theron walked up behind the man who disrespected her.

" Stand up!" He shouted. He heard a soft female voice speak to him, trying to stop him. Theron knew it was Corill.

" Dont do this Theron, you do not know how evil this man is. Why are you making such quick judgements." The soft voice spoke. Only Theron could hear it.

" What the..." the man said startled. "What do you want, you wussy little monk? Go back to your temple and pray." The group of men laughed. Theron did not show any signs of anger. He heard the female voice again.

" Okay, now you can punish him." Corill's voice said, having a quicker temper than most good gods.

Theron smiled at his goddess' comment. He grabbed the man by the shoulders and threw him and his chair down to the ground. The guards noticed, but did nothing to stop it. Since he was a monk, he sort of had a liscense to kill, or in this case, punish.

" Wait a second, did you just say wussy monk? Perhaps I should educate you." Theron said calmly. One of the men across the table broke a bottle of wine and held the broken end out. He swund at Theron who chopped at the mans arm.

" Monks..." Theron began. He lept high into the air and kicked the man in the face, sending him into the bar, "...are very trained..." He grabbed the third man at the table by the shirt and and flipped him into the table, smashing it in two, "...in body and mind." Theron now had a wide grin.

" I'll see you guys later. Look on the bright side, I didnt use my staff." Theron said mockingly, stepping over the first man he had attacked. The monk went to his table and got his staff, which was leaning against the wall. He was about to leave when he heard the man thrown into the bar running towards him.

" Watch your step." Theron said. He whirled around and thrust his palms out. A white mist emitted, hitting the floor. A thin sheet of ice covered a small area on the floor. The charging man slipped and fell hard on his back.

The guards and patrons in the tavern began to cheer and clap. Theron turned around and gave the crowd a bow. Then with a wide grin he left the building. He wished to meet up with the barmaid and comfort her after what had happened.

Suddenly the soft voice came to his head again.

"Nice work my boy. You punished them all right, and still managed not to kill them. Now what about this girl? Do I sense more than a common interest in you for this barmaid?" Corill asked, sounding friendly but suspicious.

" My goddess, it is my duty as a monk to comfort her if she is sad. You saw how those men treat her. Besides, I must stay true to my faith." Theron said, blushing. He hadnt realized it before, but he actually was starting to feel a bit excited about seeing her again, though it had only been a couple of minutes ago.

"Okay my boy. You go 'do your duty' if thats what you want to call it. I must give you my advise though Theron. Do not deny love, for it is hard to find. Where in my teachings did i tell you that you could not love. Go for it Theron. I know you have not been very close to anyone for a long time. Too long of a time if you ask me." Corill said. Her voice was kind and understanding, like that of a grandmother.

"Yes my goddess. I understand, but, do not expect anything to happen. My social skills with girls are as good as my skills with weapons. I have no chance." Theron said with a discouraged look on his face.

" Oh shut your pipe Theron! You know your one of the most handsome men in Palanthas! Its just that weird mohawk of yours. I dont understand why you keep it. And the fact that your a monk isnt the most attractive thing in the world. Dont be afraid my boy." Corill explained. Their was a cold blast of wind and suddenly the voice was gone.

Theron sighed and walked away from the entrance of the tavern. He saw the barmaid and he got nervous. He turned away and walked into a shadow of a tall building. If he had known what a normal childhood was like, he would have thought he was foolish and acting like a twelve year old. But he didnt, so he went on with this new feeling in his gut, not knowing what was happening to him.

Brooke had never seen as sad a woman as the one in front of her, this Tomi. The only other person that seemed even close to Tomi's mood would be the young barmaid inside. That girl seemed spirited, to spirited for a mere tavern worker. And from the faraway look in het eyes as she had watched the various guards and mercenarys in the establishment, she indeed dreamed of more for her life. Vaguely Brooke wondered if she was trained at all, and if she wasn't if she would like to train at all.

At present though, was the despondant-looking Tomi. Mercenary or guard, Booke couldn't tell what the other woman was, but clearly she was disturbed about this murder and whatever circumstances surrounded it. As Tomi's cloak fell to the wet ground, Brooke took a few steps and retrieved it. Not sure if the other woman had noticed she had dropped it, the young mercenary held it to to here.

"Here you go."

OOC: I'm going to be away for a week. It would be cool if Mirror could take control of Theron. Anyone can, i just think it would be easier since Theron is closest to Em at the moment. Play him in character whoever is going to. Or you can just keep going with the story and I'll pick up from there. I wont be around for the answer, so just do what you feel is best for the story.

IC: Theron took a deep breath. He walked out from the shadows and approached the barmaid.

" Hey. I saw what happened in there. Are you okay?" Theron asked affectionately.

" Dont worry. Those men wont be bothering you again." Theron said with a warm smile.

" By the way, my names Theron." The monk said shyly.

Em looked at the woman in front of her, the rain pelting down over both of them. The other womans cloak fell to the floor just as a bright flash of lightning speared across the sky, causing the young would be merc to jump slightly. Her eyes met the sad eyes of the other woman, who she believed to be a member of the city watch, since finding her cloak pin. Em's heart went out to the other woman. She felt an almost kindred spirit here. This woman was just as angry, frustrated and disilusioned with life as Em was herself.

The barmaid extended her hand out to the other woman, the cloak pin laying on her outstreached palm.

"I think this might be yours. I found it........." Em began, but then lots of things happened at once.

Firstly there was another clap of thunder and bolt of lightning, startling the barmaid a bit more. Then the woman merc stepped forward toward the watch woman, bending down and picking up her cloak for her. Em turned around suddenly at the sound of braking things coming from inside the inn. She swore softly under her breath, even though her dear mother had tried to break her of the habbit before she passed on. She made a quick decision.

"Sod the inn, let father handle it!!!" she said to no one in particular. She started toward the other two women when she felt a soft hand on her shoulder. She turned and saw the monk from the bar standing in front of her. She stared at him open mouthed, a slight flush once again creeping up her neck as the monk spoke to her.

" Hey. I saw what happened in there. Are you okay?"

"Ummmmmmmm, I'm......errrr........fine!" was all she could manage, a stupid look of surprise still on her face, the flush creeping even further up her neck to spread to her cheeks. "It's......really nice..of you to ask though." she said, finally managing to break her new fish look (which was ever so attractive she thought not) and smile at him.

" Dont worry. Those men wont be bothering you again. My name's Theron, by the way."

The monk smiled back at her in the same warm way.

"I'm Eminy, but please call me Em, all my friends do." she said coyly, the flush deepening. "Oh.....that was you with all the crashing and bashing and such that I just heard? It was very nice of you to do that for me, but I can handle them. I'm used to it. I didn't run out because of them. I found this that I thought belonged to that woman over there," she said, gesturing with the cloak pin toward where the other two women stood. "Before I forget, here you are." she said, handing the cloak pin to the watch woman, Theron forgotten momentarily at the look in the woman's eyes.

"I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you OK? Was it that talk in the bar about the murder of the Lord of Palanthas?" Em didn't know what had made her add that last bit, but she felt she had been right. Domar peered outside his small window in the tower, he smiled as he saw the wind whip and whirl in every direction. Lightning crackled in the night air and thunder rumbled mercislously as if the voice of impending doom. The earth shook and trembled and the ground beneath Palanthas began to break part. The townspeople ran about in dismay and terror, unable to believe what was going on. Had the gods forsaken them?

He reveled in the turmoil and destruction. All that time toiling as an understudy in the tower of palanthas.....he no longer had to play the charade. His plans were coming to fruition now, there would be no stopping what was to come.

A Huge green dragon came from out of the thunderous skies and hovered next to the window as Domar levetated onto it. He looked over the city nowin flames and laughed. he shouted to them all "LOOK! Look upon the New ruler of Palanthas and son........the ruler of all ansolan and beyond. Cower before me and you may be spared."

Suddenly, a shining light breached the dark skies and from below an arrow bright blue as the purest of water pierced the heart of the green he was riding. They began to spiral downard at an ever faster rate. And then........................

Domar awoke with a start, his heart beating quickly. He looked around to see that he was still in his cramped little room, spell books lay were he had left them. His small window open was letting a slight breeze in but not seeming disturbing the books and papers that lay strewn about.

It was yet another dream, and none to good a dream either. He would gain his resolve. With the king of palanthas ot of the picture he thought those dreams of failure would go by the wayside. the king and his prying eyes had long hindered his plans. Who could possibly be a threat now? Someone else was already framed fro his murder? he made up his mind...................he wuld have to find out who could somewhere down the road thwart his plans......................And elimate the problem. >:)

OOC: well, I had hoped that my friend would post, and I really don't want to take the char from him... but if anyone would like to it's fine by me. we'll loose the story line if Hitomi's colleuge isn't introduced soon.

The char can be honorable to a fault, but now that he's been accused he fled to keep Hitomi from being accused as an accomplice. he'd always been fair in a fight but now the "gloves" are off and he's willing to do just about anything (besides murder ;)) to clear his name.

BIC: Hitomi took the broach and the sodden cloak with a grim glance. "Thank you..." She mumbled and then paled at the barmaid's questions. "Yes... but it needn't concern you..." She said her hands clenched. "tell me what you've heard of the murder... I have a need to know all that has been heard or rumored..." she stood still, unheeding of the rain.

"Perhaps this should wait till we're in more drier conditions... I don't think any of us want to return to that tavern..." She turned and walked on ahead...

As Brooke held out Tomi's cloak to the woman, she turned slightly as she saw the young female barmaid approach. The violet-eyed meercenary would not have heard her apprach if not for the streak of lightening and the crash inside the bar that made the barmaid jump. As the three woman sttod there, Tomi so silent Brooke wasn't sure if she knew she had approached, and Brooke now facing the barmaid still holding the wet cloak, the mercenary noticed the the girl from the bar held something in her hand. Examining the cloak and then the object the third woman held, Brooke realized it was the clasp of Tomi's cloak.

Just as Brooke was going to introduce herself to the young barmaid, she noticed the monk emerge from the bar and speak in quiet tones to the girl. Then the girl stopped her conversation, and step forward to Tomi. She handed the cloak pin to the woman and asked her if she was alright. Feeling awkward with so many new people around, Brooke simply handed the woman her cloak and faded into the background to lean against the wall of the bar.

abruptly, before Hitomi could say another word, one of the guards, one of the ones that had harrassed Em before. stumbled drunkenly out of the Tavern.

"Ish dat you Cap'n?" He mumbled drunkenly, his eyes fixed on Hitomi. They suddenly lost some of their drunken glaze. "You where in on it wit 'im weren't you? Dat's why you left isn't it?" He advanced, hand on his sword, as Hitomi backed away.

"Back off Tylen.. I had nothing to do with it and you know it..." She kept her hand on her sword, her eyes fixed on Tylen. "I don't want to fight you... Don't make me fight you...." She said taking another step back.

"Of course you where in it, friends always stick together like that don't they! You helped Kill the Lord! You'll rot in the jails with him for this!" Tylen snarled pulling free his sword.

"Tylen! Stop this now! You're drunk, it's a wonder you can hold onto that sword..." She shouted, watching him intently, keeping a keen eye on the steel blade as lightning flashed, reflected in the polished steel.

Seeing the drunk guard advance on Tomi, Brooke silently pushed herself off the wall of the bar and slid her own sworrd from the sheath on her back. She didn't know the drunk man, nor the woman he harrassed, but the mercenary would not stand for any trouble. Whatever was going on with this murder thing, Tomi had said she had nothing to do with it, and the pain in the woman's eyes reflected that she was telling the truth.

Casually, quietly, Brooke waited. She would help Tomi if she needed it.

Em watched the scene unfold around her. She watched the drunk advance towards Tomi, his sword drawn. She listened to the accusations, and realised through looking into the face of the wtch woman that she was telling the truth. Em saw nobility in this woman, saw that she was proud and loyal. Why would she conspire towards murder? The answer came into Em's head quickly.....she wouldn't.

Em stalked around the back of the drunk, moving silently as her uncle had taught her. Silent as a shadow, she positioned herself behind the man. She was so intent on her purpose that she did not see the way Theron reacted, the worried look on his face.

She stood behind the man, still as calm waters, gathering her thoughts, her energy. Then she made her move.

Quick as the lightning that flashed above she moved towards the guard, moving fluidly. She grabbed him by his wrist and twisted hard. He dropped the sword and swore in surprise, but before he could resct, Em had his arm behind his back and a dagger at his throat.

"Please, don't move, otherwise I'll be forced to cut you with this dull and extremely rusty old blade. It might not do much harm, but you'd die of blood poisoning, slow and painfully. Now, what is all this about, why do you threaten this woman?!!" She asked, giving the mans arm an extra twist just to make sure he was paying attention.

Watching the young barmaid subdue te drunken guard who had earlier threatened Tomi, Brooke let her sword arm fall uncerimoniously to her side as she watched the girl's actions in surprised admiration. Grinning, the mercenary shook her head as she remembered her earlier thoughts. Proffessionally trained or not, this Em definately had some secrets. Secrets that 1) that normal bar-workers didn't usually have and 2) that her monk friend either had not known about or didn't approve of, judging by the expression on his face.

"Well, Well, it seems you have the situation well in hand." Brooke commented to Em as she took in the situation again. With a new respect for the girl, she said "Good moves."

OOC: Kalia, I was wondering if I could play the partner. However, I made this post intentionally ambiguous in case I can't. If thats the case, I can just make myself a random criminal. :). If I can, I might need some background stuff.

BIC:
The man clung to the back alley like shadow, rain dripping off of his cloak onto his face. The moisture flowed around his dark eyes, dripped into his mouth. The moisture felt good against his tongue, but the taste was acrid. Nonetheless, he drank it, pretending it was the same sweet ale being enjoyed in the inn he lurked behind.

He dared not enter the inn, for he doubted his reception would be very warm. Guards tended to not like wanted criminals in their prescence. Even those with clever disguises. THe man smiled to himself. He had a feeling that he would be recognized by most of the forces inside, even with his hood and cloak.

He had heard the rumors in the streets before the rain had emptied them. Now, there were no whispers that he could hear. There were no gossiping women. All that remained was the silent darkness, enveloping him in its protection. He remembered the life he was leaving behind with regret.

Sighing to himself, and inwardly blessing the rain that had emptied the streets, he walked on. Moving from shadow to shadow, he made his way down the alley.

Slowly dragging himself out of bed. "Oh, man what a hangover." He walks over to splash some water on his face, trying to wake up.

"Hey, Tourami! Did you hear what happened last night? No, what happened? Somebody killed the Lord of Palanthas..... What? Did they say who? No, not yet, but they did say that Kension might have been involved.... You're joking? No, that is what the word going round is, Kension might have been involved if not directly killed him."

A look of shock went over Kension's face, he can't believe what he is hearing, "the Lord of Palanthas dead???? AND THEY THINK I DID IT???"

This can't be happening, he thinks as he looks around his room. Something is not right, "I KNOW I DIDN'T KILL anyone. Oh, my head, what was in that drink?" Kension listens to the conversation a little more to find out what is going on, this has got to be some crazy dream. "Oh, Man, if this is true, I have got to get out of here, there is no way they will believe me. I have got to find out what has happened." Grabbing his sword he wraps it up and tries to hide it under his cloak, grabbing what he can and puts in his pack before the city guards get there to arrest him. Daggers in their sheaths, he heads out making sure the hood on his cloak is over his face, just in case the rumors are true. I have got to get to some place safe till night falls so I can find out what is going on without being recognized. "Oh my god, I forgot about Hitomi, what is she thinking. What is she going to do? Oh man, my head. When I find the guy that did something to my drink I am gonna strangle him."

Moving out amongst the crowd to blend in, he makes his way down a side street, "I know just the place, if I am wanted for murder, I know this will be one of the last places they will look."

Sliding in past the narrow buildings and down another narrow alley, he makes it past the guards and into a small room. Trying to relax till dark falls, Kension tries to think of what all happened the night before, head still pounding like a heard of elephants ran over his head, he leans back and passes out.

Hello my friend, oh, I see you are one of the city guards. It is always good to see that not all the guards are stuck up pigs.

Thanks I think.

Oh don't worry my new found friend that was a compliment, where I come from not many of the guards associate with us common folk, it is good to see you here. May I join you my friend?

Sure, why not?

Good, good, I shall buy you a drink, what do you have?

Just an ale would do fine,

Oh come now my friend, we must toast to our new friendship, I am Kazzmar, I travel near and far, I am a merchant you see. I need good friends such as you...

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY? I am not for sale...

No, no, no, not what I mean dear friend, I do not want to buy you, just a mere saying my friend, being an honest merchant it is always good to have the city guards protecting me from the bandits and thieves.

I will protect the city from bandits and thieves but I am not a personal guard.

Yes, my friend I know, I did not mean to upset you.....

Kension wakes up in a pool of sweat, "THAT'S IT, it was KAZZMAR!! He put something in my drink. What did he plan to accomplish? Is he the one behind framing me? I have got to find him, but first I need to change, if I keep these clothes on, someone is bound to catch me or in the very least recognize who I am. Pulling off any and all guard insignias, weaponry and armor he wraps them up as best he can within a small sheet he found in the room. I have got to find myself better weapons that won't give me away."

The sun slowly starts to set in the sky; the sounds of the city start to get a little quieter as most of the people wander off towards their homes. Kension, tries his best to conceal who he is, while still being protected. He slowly wanders down the alley, making his way to the port, He knows he can find some answers or at least some weapons.

"I love the rain. It's so cleansing..." thought Jorgan as he walked down the street towards the Barking Gremlin, where he was rather well known among the patrons, many of them mercanaries themselves. Among the mercanary crowd, he was well known, his looks were above average, though he was certainly no Bradius Pittius. But the most distinguishing feature about him was his height, standing tall at almost seven feet. He wasn't a powerhouse by any means, he was rather lanky and dextrous in fact, and his armor was light, aiding in his movement, his body covered with blades. (I always have to give this description it seems)

"I wonder if the owner's daughter is working the bar tonight..." he smirked. He hit on her on regularly, though she never seemed to take him seriously....

In the middle of the street he came upon Em, holding down what looked to be a city guard, a young woman standing next to her, talking, and another drenched young woman standing in the rain. From the bar, it looked like a fight had just broke out, as some people were leaving, looking slightly hurt. Trotting up to the young barmaid and her friend, he smiled.

"hey Em. Sooooo....what happened this time?" he said, nodding towards the bar, and eying the drunk guard.

Em flushed again at the compliments of the female mercenary, all the while her grip never left the drunk guard, the point of her dagger never wavering.

"Oh, thank you!!" she gushed. She was so happy that someone had complimented her on her skills at arms that she did not notice Jorgan approach.

"hey Em. Sooooo....what happened this time?" he said, nodding towards the bar, and eying the drunk guard.

"Hi Jorg's, this man tried to attcak this woman here," she said, gesturing to Tomi, "Started accusing her of things. I just had to teach him that it's not nice to go around threatening people!!!!" she ephasised this last with a prod of her dagger and an extra twist of his arm.

"Could one of you alert Seargent Colner, let him know there is a situation out here and we need his, and only his, assistance." She paused and then looked out past them all to the rain-slick city.

"... I cannot believe that Kension could have done such a think, much less take a willing part of it. I have a way to help gain the truth of who did it... but I need access to the Lord's Manor..."

She looked up as lightning flashed. "And I'll need help for that."

A small black bird chirped outside Domar's window, a small piece of paper lay neatly folded of the birds left leg. Without hesitation he reached for the message, which after retrieving the bird tooks its leave.

He sat down in his one and only chair, dusty and old as it was it fit perfectly with the old wooden desk he was using to write on. He had long since ceased to notice the slight creaking sound the chair made or the fact that the desk was notibly unbalanced. The dim light of the candle that lay next to him was the only light if it could be called that since the roomed seemed to be in a perptual state of semi darkness even on the sunniest of days.

Slowly he opened the letter and began to read. He wasnt suprised to see that that the handwriting was in elvish. Or that their was a lot of information on it even for such a small piece of scroll paper. The contents were of great importance to him however...........

Greetings Domar, I assume all is well with our plan. I am doing quite well here in Qualinost and will soon have the people of Qualonost under my subjection. I hear That our other allies in Solomnia and Silvanost are going as planed as well.

However there is the matter of the ill omens you have had lately that should not be taken lightly. Take care to heed them and root out the problem before it starts. Palanthas is of extreme importance to us. The time is soon coming when we must strike, all at once. Once we have control over our given lands we cannot be stopped. Nuitari has promised aid to you, but be careful. The gods are fleeting at times with their allegiances. Be ready and on gaurd.

Now onto more important matters. Soon, in a matter of a year or less we will be assembling an army for the conquering of...................................................."

Domar clutched the small paper and in a instant it set aflame. Times were beginning to become urgent and things were moving much more swiflty in his mind. ill omen or not, he must proceed with caution. The letter had all but stated what was to come. Now he would wait for the opportune time to make his move.

Taking every percaution he possibly can to get to the docks, Kension
takes every possible dark alley, twisting and winding his way. getting
soaked by the rain, he stops for a minute to see what was going on.
Hearing a slight commotion off at one of the local taverns he decides to
take a little look, he carefully positions himself to where he can see
what is going on while still being hidden.

Watching the events unfold, he notices that Hitomi was involved as well as another gaurd, with a smile he watches alittle more, knowing that there would be a victor to this fight. By surprise he see's a young maiden take control of the situation with great ease. " she is very good, might be worth investigating once
I get myself out of this situation" Kension mumbles....

Drenched from head to toe, Kension shrugs alittle excess water off his
body and makes his way back down towards the docks. Moving amongst the
dark shadows he approches the dock area with a surprise, "ah man, can
my luck get any worse here" The docks are being patroled by the city
gaurds, more than usual.

" there has got to be a way for me to get in, without them seeing me"
Kension mumbles.... Looking around he see's a narrow walkway that runs
between two wharehouses, he waits for the right moment as the gaurds
head back the other way on their patrol. Jumping up to his feet, he makes
a fast dash towards the walkway and up the side of a small wharehouse
to a partially open window, taking a closer look he see's that the
wharehouse is closed for the night, but someone is still in the office...

Hearing footsteps coming down the walkway Kension makes a quick decision
and sneaks into the wharehouse to avoid being seen. " well that was a
close one, hope this guy here isn't as smart" Kension moves behind some
crates that are being stored trying to position himself to see what was
going on in the office.

"That boy drives me crazy, when will he learn, you can't make a
profit by giving things away." Grumbled the man

Kension, interested in what was being said, not to mention curious.
"someone with a generous heart, giving away things? A merchant no
less..... " Kension moves in closer to the office behind the only crate left
that would give him the benefit of hearing what all was going on, while
still being concealed..

"I think that boy is trying to ruin me, I can't believe it. My own
son, trying to make me go broke. What's this? What was he thinking, my
god.... he practically gave that away, ten bars of steal for that? I
paid nine to get it here. There is something wrong with that boy!" The man yelled

Kension knowing he has to do something, he can't stay here all night.
Slowly he moved over to the front door and opens and then closes it to make it look like he just walked in..

"We're closed sir, come back tomorrow" The man said, not unpleasantly, though clearly irritated.

"I am sorry sir, but I was wondering if you could help me tonight? I
have a few things I would like to buy as well as maybe sell a few
items, if you were interested that is. I am sure you will give me a fair
price." Kension said

With a gleam in his eye and wanting to make alittle profit the merchant
walks over to Kension.

"A fair price you say? well, now lets see what you have, and then we
can talk about fair price..... hmmmm, interesting, these are city
gaurd weapons if I am not mistaken, did you steal these boy?" The Merchent questioned.

"No sir, I did not steal them, but I do need to sell them, they have
no more purpose for me anymore, and I am sure you will not mention this
to anyone right?" Kension replied.

"Well, that depends my fine lad, you did say you wanted a fair price
right?"

" Well sir, a fair price would be nice but seeing as we both know you
want to make a profit and to make sure you keep this quiet, I am sure
we can make a deal. What I am wanting to do is to get different weapons
and armor" Kension said, realizing that he would have to deal with some loss if he wanted to get about quietly.

"Hmmm, I see nothing wrong with these" The merchant examined the armor and the weapon. while Kension coughed politely. The merchant looked up and spoke.

"Well sir, seeing as we are both in an understanding fashion and knowing we both will benefit from this you can pick and choose what you want off that shelf
there, and when you are done bring them back here and we can make a
deal."

Kension knowing he has no choice and knows that this merchants greed
overwhelms his common sense, he goes over and checks out the weapons on
the shelf and spots two very nice swords. " ah, twin scimitars, these
will do nicely" Kension mumble to himself with a half smile. He walks
over to another part of the shelf and picks out a nice set of black
leather armour..

This isn't the best armor, but I can't go around making the noise that Chain Mail makes.... Kension thought as he picks up the items he wants and brings it back to the table where the merchant was waiting and looking over the item he brought to trade..

"Ah, I see you have found some interesting weapons, those costed me
a pretty price to get those here, but I am sure you are not interested
in hearing about that... Now, lets see what you have, hmm yes and add
in that, and subtract that....." Mumbling to himself trying to
figure out what would benefit him the most he goes over the figures...

"Well, now let's see, with what you have brought in and with what you have
chosen, I think I can give you fifteen steel pieces... that is the best I can do with what you are wanting."

"I understand, and I thank you for your offer, and I accept." Kension said, dropping the coins in his purse.

Concluding the transaction Kension leaves behind his life left on the
table. Broken dreams, hard work and honor have all left him. All he has
left now, is to find out who set him up and why.

Em let go of the guard with a slight hint of regret. She was just getting to like the power she was feeling at holding him captive like that. Then her uncles voice spoke up in her head:

"With great power come's great reponsibility, remeber that Em." she nodded to herself as she relinquished her grip.

The bar maid looked towards Hitomi. She stepped forward slightly. "I want to come, I want to help...............but I can't go back into the Inn, my father would only convince me to stay, and I don't want to. But my clothes aren't exactly the best for travelling in," she said, getsturing to her bar miad's uniform, and trying to pull the too short skirt down so that it covered her thighs a little bit more at the same time. "and all I have is this dagger, and I really don't think I could do that much damage with it. I've only ever used it to get the blokes from the bar off my back."

She was starting to get worried, worried that she wouldn't be able to go, worried that Hitomi wouldn't want her help. She started to twiddle her cloak around her fingers in nervousness.

Theron, who had been quite this whole time, stepped forward and spoke up, with a sideways glance at Jorgan. He seemed like he knew Em already, maybe they had history. How could he compete against someone like that................he tried to push the doubt out of his head, and thought that the best way to accomplish that would be to say he would help Tomi.

"I'll help for as long as I'm able to." he said, his blue mohawk swaying in the wind from the storm.

Brooke looked over the group, that thus far, had offered to help Tomi in her quest. Herself, Theron the monk, Em the young barmaid/fighter, and another man Em had called Jorgan. Looking over at the worried girl, Brooke had to agree that her current attire would not do.

"That shouldn't be much of a worry. If you want, just guide me to a clothing store and I'll help you find something easier to to travel in. Just a thought. You could do it yourself if you perfer." Silently cursing herself for her stumbling speech, Brooke once again wished she was more comfortable around people. The truth was, she wasn't and that was part of the reason she had chosen the profession she had. And the number one reason, she avoiding working with other people. But this quest, this mystery was to much for the shy mercenary to pass up.

Tired, wet, and hungry. Kension puts on his new black leather armor and his new scimitars. Feeling like everything is slipping away. He slowly makes his way back to his little room for the night. With a heavy heart he thinks about what has happened and what is going. With a little laugh Kension thinks: " well, I have been in worse spots, but, man this has got to be one of the hardest." Moving in the shadows as best he can not really paying attention to what was going on around him, he catches a flash. With a slight move of the wrists he pulls both swords out in one fluid movement and turns towards the flash. " damn cat!! I have got to get ahold of myself, I am acting like a rookie here.."

Moving down the alley he makes his way by one of the taverns that still has the lights on this late at night in hopes to get some food. He looks into his coin purse to see how much he has and to see how long he can make it last. He walks up to the back door of the tavern and gets some supplies that would last for a few days, then starts heading back to his room to think about what he will do next.. " I have to think, get my priorities straight, can't think of anything else right now. I have got to clear my name."

pulling himself together and grabbing some paper he begins to work out a plan. "I need to find out who is behind this and why was I the one they pinned this on" Kension makes out a map of the city, retracing all his steps, thinking back to the day when he first started service as a guard. Writting down all the names of those that might have the ability to pull it off. " I can't do this alone, I have got to get some help, but, who can I trust?" Smiling Kension gets an interesting thought through his head. " I am not sure if Hitomi thinks I am quilty or not, but it is going to be interesting to find out." Kension grabs some more paper and starts writting down some code that only him and hitomi would know is hopes she will find it and be able to understand it.

CODE: hello, Hitomi. I bet you are wondering where I am at right now. Well, I am not going to make it that easy for you, but I will tell you that I am still in town. You know me Hitomi, and you know I couldn't have done this, I can't prove it yet, all you have is my word of honor. Oh and before I forget, do you still have that dress you wore that one day? you looked really cute, and that pony tail, I bet it drives the boys wild huh?"

"Well, while we are on the subject of clothing," Jorgan said, smiling at Hitomi and removing his backpack "I've got...let me see, in here somewhere...hmmmm...noooo...." he said, digging through his bag "damnit, where is it...ouch...there's that dagger....ahha! Here it is! " he said, removing a dry traveling cloak from his bag. Giving it a quick scan he held it out towards Hitomi. "Here, you can wear this for now, it's dry, and it's too small for me, it looks like it'll fit you. And if you dont want it someone else can have it, it's of no use to me."

He eyed the monk for a moment, wondering if there was a connection between him and Em, but deciding there would be a better time to pursue such matters.

"Em,"he said sarcastically "I didn't know you knew how to use a blade, outside a kitchen..." he winked, smiling. "I'm sorry, I'm just kidding. I'd lone you a blade, but all I have to spare you is a dagger, unfortunetly. It's quite like the one you have only sharper."

At this comment, anyone who hasent noticed, actually takes in what he is wearing. He is dressed in leather armor, with a studded leather sleaveless vest, leather gloves, and a leather bandana (Rambo style) which holds his bangs out of his eyes, but also causes them to spike straight up, though the effect is rather lost in the rain. Strapped across his back at his right shoulder, he has a two handed bastard sword, with a strange green metal blade. The sword resonates no magic, yet there is obviously something special about it. At his left shoulder is strapped a longsword. At his waist is a broadsword, in each boot are long daggers, on each hip is a dagger, and on his belt hangs a short dagger among a couple small pouches.

OOC: Somebody might find it curious that even with so many blades he can only spare one... he's just always that way.

Brooke had decided to stay silent until Em spoke up about her clothing comment, but watching this Jorgan toss of some teasing comments to the girl and then offer Tomi a dry cloak, the mercenary suddenly envied is his easy-going attitude. The violet-eyed woman could swing a blade with the best of them and carried a reputation with her as one of the best in the field. And she could fight like a wild-cat if back into a corner. But that was business. Socially, the girl was like a fish out of water. Not like this Jorgan.

As the man stood up from bending over his pack, Brooke took notice of his clothing and varios weapons. "Nice arsenal." she commented with admiration.

Upon finishing the coded note Kension smiled and laughed.
"If this doesn't get her attention, nothing will."
Kension puts his wet cloak back on to make one last trip before getting some sleep. Kension slowly opens the door to makesure no one was hanging around before slipping out into the darkness...

Kension makes his way down to the center of the city and grabs a few stones, he then places them in the middle of the street in a specialised manner.
"Hopefully she will remember her training"
He then places the coded note under the bottom rocks to conceal it from any on lookers that might spot it.

Kension slowly makes his way back to his room to get some rest before heading out early. With a smirk on his face Kension makes a solftly spoken remark:
"I bet that will get her reaction, if she finds it that is. She has gotten alittle soft over the years, being captian and all."
With a little laugh Kension makes his way back to his new home and locks things down for the night.

Brooke chuckled good-naturally at Jorgan's "hero" comment. Even though she had yet to talk to the monk...what was his name again?... or Tomi, Brooke got the feeling that either of them were as friendly-seeming as Em or Jorgan, thinks would turn out better than she thought.

The man walked down the hallway, expecting a guard in every shadow. He told himself that he was being jumpy, but that did little to assuage his feelings. After all, the guards would be too busy looking for the guard who murdered the Lord of Palanthas to have the slightest interest in Sivarus the Sneak, Scourge of Palanthas. Of course, the title was self appointed, and not very much earned. After all, this was the first time that he had even tried to steal anything.

He remebered his original plan with fondness. His family was wealthy, but his father was a gambler, whittling away at the family fortune on wild chances and impossible odds. It was because of this that Silvarus decided that he would become the opposite of his father. He was going to become a cleric of Paladine. He could use his powers to help the meek, the sick, and the downtrodden.

Instead, of course, he had been stricken by plague after plague of sorrow. His mother had died when he was young, and his father disappeared on a caravan headed toward Solanthus. Then, his family property had been claimed by the debtors, and he had been stripped of all earthly belongings. All that remained of his legacy was the dagger strapped to his side, and the black magical cloak he wore, allowing him to blend perfectly with shadow. Nothing else remained.

After all of that, who really wants any part of a deity who allow any of this to happen? Not Silvarus. As far as he was concerned, Paladine could go to the Abyss. He would never follow Paladine.

Thats when he ha came upon a brilliant method for revenge. He would steal something that the clerics held dear. He would steal the Crown of Ages. The ancient artifact was not well known. Indeed, had Silvarus not been so well versed in religious history, he might not have known either. All he knew was a line from an ancient and crumbling book he had read at the Great Library.

... and unto the cleric, Paladine breathed life and crowned him with a treasure of the stars, wrought from pearl and gold, it shone like a beacon, protecting his chosen from all harm...

He had no idea it was true, until he dreamed about it a few nights before. A voice had spoke to him, telling him exactly how to steal it, the secret words to speak, the paths to take. It was all rather exciting. Figuring he had nothing to lose, Silvarus had snuck into the temple in the middle of the night, using his enchanted cloak to blend with the shadows. At last he had grabbed the treasure from the vault and escaped into the night.

Of course, now he could never obtain his dream. Thieves weren't exactly highly welcome to be clerics, especially those who stole from the Temple. Still, he lived by his motto: No regrets. All he had to do now, was find out how to use it.

As he walked, he supposed he heard voices speaking, something about weaponry, and offering their assistance. Ever curious, Silvarus crept down the alley, trying to hear the words spoken by the group, wrapping his cloak ever tighter.

It was time that Domar begin to be proactive in his search. He wasnt sure of who it was he was looking for but he had heard of a friend of the accused was in Palanthas undoubtably trying to vindicate him.

BIC: Theron looked at Jorgan suspiciously. He was jealous, that he knew, of the mans size. He never liked staring up at another man, but this was insane. Jorgan was a good foot taller than him!

The man spoke, and Theron softened up. Theron didnt think he was that bad, and decided not too judge him too quickly just because he was bigger than him. The man had a great collection of swords which Theron wished he knew how to use.

Theron looked at Em and smiled. He noticed the kindness she held towards him. Theron even had a notion that her face was flushing when she spoke to him. However, the idea that she fancied him was shattered when Jorgan approached them.

"Maybe they are no more than friends." He assured himself. Then a harsh voice spoke inside him. He realized it was his own.

" You cant deny it monk! She will never have you over him! Look at him! Your nothing but a loner and you'll stay a loner!" Therons head felt like it was throbbing. He clenched his teeth and closed his eyes in pain. He returned to normal and looked up at the others, hoping nobody had noticed.

Jorgan had gone up to the monk and introduced himself Brooke had noticed. She also had noticed that the monk had reacted somewhat strangely to the other man, but she paid it little heead at the moment. Besides, from the way he looked at Em, it was probably just some jealousy or something...and that was none of the young mercs affair.

As the others of the group talked, Brooke made her way to a bench and pulled some parchement and a quill oput of her pack. Thinking it over, she made a list of clothing Em would need for the journey.

a proper weapon
a few changes of comfortable clothing
sturdy yet comfortable boots
a pack to keep her belongs in

Chewing lightly on her bottom lip, Brooke wondered if she was forgeetting anything. Oh well, with as many warriors and mercs in the group, Em was sure to be taken care of. Brooke smiled as she put her supplies back in her pack, and carried the list over to Em.

The monk walked over to Brooke, who had just given the equipment list to Em.

"So...Brooke right? Where are we going to get this stuff at this time of night? If everything is closed, we can always go back to my dojo. I can arm Em with quality padded armor and any weapon she can get at a shop. Its up to the captain though." Theron said, regarding Hitomi.

Theron was walking with the group. He noticed Em shivering from the rain. The monk walked over and held her close, trying to keep her warm. This was odd because, 1. He was a follower of an ice goddess, and 2. Because he had no shirt. However, what little warmth and comfort he could supply to Em, he did so anyway.

"We'll get you in some dry clothes soon enough." Theron said, smiling down at her as she looked up at him. She returned the smile. However, Theron noticed a hint of miscomfort. The monk was feeling a bit odd and even scared, but he really wanted to break the ice between himself and Em. To release her now could destroy his chances, and affect the groups friendship with each other.

The cold rain did not bother the monk. He was used to being cold. He actually disliked the heat.

Theron realized they had arrived at the warehouse. He released Em from his arms. He turned to the others

"I will wait out here. If I notice anything, I will give the call of a mourning dove." Theron said to the group.

OOC: I'm gonna move this part along a little quicker if nobody minds....;)

Jorgan stood silent outside the warehouse, blending into the shadows best he could, (which was rather difficult for his size) waiting for the women to return from their "Shopping Spree".

"Bird calls. I never could do those." Said Jorgan absently. "I had a friend that used to do cricket chirps. I never could respond, I can't imitate any animals." He said, shaking his head. "Oh well."

While he waited for the ladies to return from the warehouse with their goods (TRYING TO MOVE IT ALONG) He eyed the warehouse, scoped it for any possible hiding places, which there were alot of. His gaze drifted down the street, up the street, basically any direction other than at Theron. Wether out of embarrassment or jealousy, he finally came to a conclusion.

"She doesn't want me. She never has, and never will" he thought.

While he silently bemoaned his crushed hopes of love, starting to look a little heartbroken, his gaze fell upon a strange object in the middle of the road, a street or so up. His curiousity had yet to kill him, so he waited to venture off away from the group until they had all returned, and then pointed it out. (THERE, SHOPPING IS COMPLETE)

"Ummmmm, hey ladies.......is it just lack of sleep talking or is that a......pile of rocks in the middle of the street?" he said pointing up the path. "I've been watching it for the last few minutes, but haven't dared go check it out alone, could be a trap, and with just me and Theron..." he winked at Theron " We wouldn't want to look like we were showing off......"

Turning around briefly as she jogged, Brooke called to the others, "Coming?"

"No, not yet, I'm just breathing hard." said Jorgan, walking to catch up, his long strides excelling him towards the group. The prospect of the Lord's manor intrigued him, though he cared not where they went because He had offered his services freely to Hitomi, he was honor bound to keep his end of the bargain. Though, as he thought about it he realized, there really was no bargain between the two of them. Regardless, he joined the group, walking down the street towards the Lord's Manor, the supposed murder site of the Lord of Palanthas. (Or am I mistaken?)

"Hey, that's where this guy was killed isn't it?" he asked Hitome. "Don't you think that there are probably a lot of guards there still? It sounds like a trap to me, not somewhere a wanted fugitive would hide...though who would think about it? Interesting...I'll have to remeber that..." he said, beging to mumble to himself before remember who he was talking to. "Just stay on your toes." he said to Hitomi again. Hitomi rolled her eyes at Jorgan's joke, and then shook her head at his last comment. "Only if we're caught. I need at least one person with me to serve as a lookout... the rest I need you to distract the other guards..."

As they neared she sighed. "I don't expect to find Kension here.." she fished through a pouch at her waist. "but I do intend to experiment on something..." She was now holding a roll of treated Vellum parchment, and a vial of dark powder and an old artisan's brush. "This will help"

"when we're done here we'll have to find the Seargent again... he'll know the warabouts of the weapon used to murder the Lord..."

Silvarus the Scourge (he rather enjoyed his self styled title) watched with fascination as the group started muttering something as they looked at a pile of rocks. Something about Kension (the name sounded familiar) and a message.

Thses people aren't very interesting, Silvarus thought, as he started to move away down the alley. Then he heard something that intrigued him...

"Damn him... Mocking me..." She snarled and turned. "we go to the Lord's Manor... I have something to do there, before we search for Kension." She turned and headed down the street.

Silvarus froze. The Lord's manor? Then the memories came rushing back to him, of who exactly this "Kension" was, and of the murder of the Lord of Palanthas.

Intrigued, Silvarus started to follow the group, clinging to shadows as he moved.

"I'll be your lookout if thats okay with you Hitomi. Monks are trained in the ways of defending themselves and others. Just lead the way." Theron said with a smile.

"I'll stand guard too, if nobody minds," Brooke offered, "if not than of course I will come with you Hitomi, if that's what you wish. Jus let me know where you'd like me and I'm there."

"Okay then... Theron you're with me, the others will distract the guards.... We'll need to get in fairly quickly.... getting out will be the easy part..." She motioned and the others followed

Brooke nodded as she followed the group up to the Manor. As the others tooke action to to distract the guards, the merc picked her "target" with a smile and pulled a well-used map of the city out of her pack. Sandering up to one of the younger-looking guards, she smiled at him. "Excuse me sir, could you tell me where that Inn is? I followed the map and still couldn't find it." Brooke sighed ruefully as she now had the guards full attention.

The man looked over the map in the girls hand and then chuckled good-naturedly. Easily, he took the parchment from her hands and turned it right-side-up. "There you go miss. It wasn't you who was turned around, it was your map!" The guards blue eyes seemed to twinkle with hidden laughter as he took in the attractive young womans shy embarrassment.

Brooke noticed that Hitomi and Theron were still working on getting inside.

Brooke shook her head at herself as she looked at the map again. Carefully folding it and putting it back in her pack, she smiled at the guard again as she ran her fingers through her dark curls. "Thanks for the help. Can't believe I made such a silly mistake."

The man leaned against the wall, back facing away from the door as he smiled, "Don't worry about it. It happens to me too sometimes. So not staying in town long?"

Brooke smiled as she too leaned against the wall, "Well that depends on the reasons I find to stay..."

And so on, and so on as Brooke uses her female charms to distract the young guard.

Theron noticed Brooke distracting the young guard. The monk gave a little laugh and then turned to Hitomi. The female guard moved swiftly and silently. It was hard to keep up with this women, even for the acrobatic monk. She obviously knew her way around.

Theron stepped on a twig in the shadows and a nearby guard looked in his direction. The guard looked into the darkness but couldnt see anything through the rain. Theron covered one hand over the other then and out of the covering hand emitted a freezing white mist. In his hands was now an ice ball. The monk took the ball and chucked it into the air. It landed in the other direction of the guard, making a loud sound. The approaching guard and a couple others ran to the sound. They couldnt find anyone there.

"Just a pesty squirrel or somethin." One of the guards said with a look of irritation. They went back to there posts, convinced nobody was there.

Theron looked at Hitomi and sighed. "That was close." he whispered.

Hitomi nodded and slipped through a side door to the manor. "I heard the seargent say that it happened in the Lord's personal chambers...." she said and made her way slowly up the stairs.

She wondered that the place was so quiet, no further guards other than those outside...but considering the loss of herself and Kension, the city guard didn't have many to spare with most looking for Kension. She frowned as she reached the door....

Muttering soft words of magic...the only spell she knew the dabbler that she was...the doorknob and the frame glowed a soft red. "someone used Magic to gain entry... Which would rule out Kension... he hasn't a magical bone in his body... distrusts it.. doesn't even like the fact that I know even one spell...."

"I can do magic, if thats what you want to call it. My goddess Corria gives me power. Just ice stuff. Ill show at a more convenient time." Theron whispered with a smile at Hitomi. He looked at the glowing red doorknob.

"If you wish to enter the room, I will stand guard inside the room near the door. That way if anyone comes, we can hide or something." Theron whispered to Hitomi.

OOC: Hey, I'm not gonna be able to post until probably Sunday or Monday night. Sorry guys... :(

Jorgan bid his time in an adjacent alleyway. Eying Brooke, he watched her flirt with the guard, a slight feeling of guilt creep over him. "I feel like I shouldn't be watching this..." he said, feeling like the odd man out. "Let's see, there seems to be a guard over there..." he said, picking up a rock the size of his fist. "I'll bet..." he began, as he threw the rock full force "That... yup...I'll miss..." he said disappointedly, as the rock bounced down the road past the guard. "Damn, why do I even try?" he said. The guard, hearing something in the street, turned, his attention drawn away. Using his skills of stealth (Which he has, he's technically a fighter/theif BTW) he glided out of the shadows on silent feet and crept up behind the guard. Raising the pommel of the sword overhead, he brought it down hard on the back of the occupied guards head. A soft *crunch* could be heard Jorgan made contact, the guard collapsing, dropping his sword, the blade clattering loudy on the cobblestones. Jorgan then ducked into another shadow by the wall of the manor.

OOC:The question is, does Brooke's guard hear it?

Silvarus smirked from within his cloak as he watched the group try and get around the guards. Ha! He simply smiled as he activated the magic of the cloak, becoming almost invisible except in full light. He chose to follow the one called Jorgan, moving cautiosly behind him, curious to see what would happen.

Seeing Jorgan dispatch the guard with ease, Silvarus looked back towards the other guard being distracted by one of the females... Silvarus didn't remember her name.

With a feeling of apprehension, he reached within the cloak, drawing a dagger in case he was noticed, a glint of light catching the edge of the blade.

Brooke saw Jorgan looking over at her, and when the guard bent down to check something on his boot, the mercenary grnned at the fighter to let him know things were going well. As the guard that Jorgan clobbered fell to the ground and his sword hit the ground, Brooke winced. No doubt her target had heard it, by the way he looked over in the direction the noise had come from.

"Excuse me miss." he said as he walked in the direction of his fallen friend. He bent down to the other guard and satisfied that he was unharmed, though unconsious, the man's blue eyes starting searching the area of the unseen attacker. Before she could do anything, he started walking toward where Jorgan was hiding.

"Oh damn. Move Jorgan, move." the woman muttered to herself.

"Wait!" she yelled to the guard. When he turned baack toward her, the girl pointed frantically in toward the path heading down toward the other side of the building, "I thought I saw someone going into that patch of forest."

As the guard (who's name she had learned was Brandon) gave one last look at the directiion of the hidden Jorgan, he sighed and turned back to where Brooke was pointing. Giving her a nod as he went past her, Brandon made his way toward the forested path, sword drawn.

Watching him go, Brooke chuckled as the leaned casually against the wall of the Manor. "I love this stuff!" she thought to herself.

He shook his head, a shiver running up his spine. *That was close.* he thought. *Too close...*

Peaking out, he checked for a clear road, and stepped out. He smiled at Brooke, trying to "shake" out his shivers.

"Sometimes my big ass and those tiny little shadows don't mix...." he said, grabbing his guard and dragging him into the darkness of the alleyway. "Sometimes I understand why my dad called our height a curse..." Walking close to Brooke, he whispered a quick question, barely audible

"Can you speak Theive's Cant? Not to pry, I just... It could help to know, that's all. Cause, well....Did you see anybody follow me into the alley, or perhaps somebody beforehand? I know you had a better view than I did, and I got a weird feeling, that's all, ya know, like we're being watched? Maybe I'm just paranoid, but...." he whispered, shaking his head and drawing away.

"We could scale that wall," he said, pointing at the corner of the building just inside the alleyways' shadows "and have a pretty good vantage point from the roof, overlooking the alley, the wall, and into the Manors' courtyard. We could watch the guards movements, and eyeball anything suspicious in the alley, or anywhere else for that matter."

Creeping over to the corner, he glanced down the alleyway, and then down the street. "Can you climb that wall barehanded? Or do you have your own plan of action?"

From the roof they had a clear view into the alley below them, to which they saw nothing, save an unconcious guard, down the street towards the inn where they came from, and over the wall into the courtyard of the lords' manor. A noticeable fact, was that the height of the building, the wall, and the courtyard were in a desending fashion, allowing one to jump from the roof, to the wall, and finally to the ground, without fear of injury. Hitomi tried the door with a leather-clad hand, to her surprise it was unlocked. She motioned for the monk to follow her.

Inside she dusted the door lightly with the powder... and using a peice of glass commonly used by gem-smiths she scrutinized the marks left behind on the door and frame. She took the paper and transfered the marks to the magically treated-vellum parchment.

Blood still stained the floor and hitomi searched for anything else that might have been touched by the assailant. She was searching the mantle of the fireplace when a loose floorboard alerted her to someone approaching the room.

"thats enough... if these match the ones found on the weapon found all we'll have to do is get Kension's prints...." She said as she carefully rolled the treated vellum parchment and slipped it into a scroll case.

I've never stuck around in one place long enough to keep friends, and this is the first time I have worked with a group - or anyone for that matter - on a job. Glasswalker
07/23/2003 7:26 PM

"Me? Well, just off shore of Sancrist on a small Island called Cristyne there's a small dukedom...well, there was, I guess you could say. It was more of a Solamnic outpost than anything else, but it was home most of my life...the men of my family have always been the retainers to the throne, and my father, like his father before him, and so on and so on..." he said, rolling his hands to punctuate his statement.

"The eldest was always the royal bodyguard to the throne. All my life it was my father. If he were to die, it fell on my older brother Duncan's shoulders. And then on to me...if it ever went that far. So we were both trained to use a blade or two, how to fight, all that good stuff...but my brother got sick of the staunch knightly B.S. so he ran away, sailed to the mainland, and I've never seen him since, even in all my travels..."

"I left just after my father fell ill. I went to find Duncan, but never did. You'd think it would be easy to find another seven foot tall human that looks like me, but apparently not. I received a message in Flotsam to return home a few months later... I never did get to say goodbye to my old man. Neither did Duncan. Just after he died, the lord died, the knights threw a tizzy fit, tried to punish me for it, something about "honor" or my lack of it......whichever you prefer. So I left home again, this time for good, with nothing but a little savings, the armor on my back, and my father's sword, Jade. (It's the BIG green sword he has across his back)

"So I sell my services to the highest bidder, except, of course, when there's a pretty lady or two involved..." he winked. "I'm kidding of course... Why am I here now? Couldn't tell ya. I travel alot. I find myself in many predicaments, especially with my size. People get really intimidated when a seven foot tall man draws a five foot long bastard sword...they either run or feel the need to "Prove" themselves. So I've been in my fair share of tangles. But for the most part I travel the lonely road of life, not sure where I'm going, what I'm looking for, or how to find it."

"Yeah, that the melodramatic story of MY life...why am I so big you might ask? That's another story...or a legend...maybe I'll tell ya sometime."

Theron nodded to Hitomi who quickly ran back through the hallways from which they came. The guard moved quickly like before. All the guards seemed to be outside, so that wasnt much of a problem.

Theron followed Hitomi out of a window into the courtyard. He saw the guards from before milling around. The were walking silently across a wall when suddenly arms seized the monk.

"Hello little rabbit!" The big guard snarled. Theron noticed Hitomi getting away. "What you be doin here? Stealin from a dead lord eh?"

The large guard now had Theron in a sleeper hold, struggling to break free. Theron wasnt good at this sort of thing. He prefered being two or three feet apart from his enemy. The guard tossed him down in the middle of the courtyard under a light. Four other guards ran over and surrounded the monk.

"Hey Eric, its Theron! Thats my boys fightin teacher. Yo monk, what are you doing here." The guard asked.

"Shutup Karl! He was sneakin around like a dirty theif, so we should punish him like one. No servant of a god is gettin any exceptions." The big guard snapped in irritation.

"*cough*...*cough*...Goddess." Theron said, still trying to get air from the hold. The guard released him.

"What did you say boy?" The guard asked.

"Im a servant of a goddess, not a god, you muscle brained moron!" Theron shouted at the guard. The guard swung a large fist, just as the monk had expected. Theron cartwheeled away from the light. He reached behind him and retrieved the small rod from a belt around his waist. Theron pressed a button and it extended into his metal staff. He twirled it skillfully, smashing it into the big guards nose. Blood spewed out and the man flew to the ground, roaring in pain and clutching his face. The other guards were approaching over to him. They were very cautious.

Theron rose his palm and emitted his freezing mist. He aimed it at one side of his staff, then the other. On both sides were large ice spheres. Theron swung it swiftly into a guards gut, sending him to the hard cobblestones.

There were six guards surrounding him now. Theron couldnt win. He hoped that Hitomi got away safely and told the others. He hoped they would rescue him. He couldnt rely on that anymore.

"Jorgan!!!" Theron shouted before the guards began thrusting their buttend of their spears at the monk. He fought back with some kicks and tosses, but it was too overwhelming. Once again, he hoped for him companions to help him,....his friends....

The outbreak in the courtyard broke off their conversation abruptly.

"Hold that thought" said Jorgan as he checked out the scene. He saw Theron being caught by the guards, and pummeled on the ground.

"Sh*t! We gotta move Brooke!" he said, as he stood up, drawing his longsword into one hand and and his broadsword into the other. Checking his options, he picked the fastest route down. Leaping from the rooftop, he landed on the courtyard wall, and rebounded into the air with a twist and landed in the light of the yard.

He popped his neck, first right, and then left, before even looking at the surprised guards, confidence flowing from his every pore. A slight smirk spread across his face as he drug the tip of his sword across the ground in an arc, leaving a line in the dirt. Ramming his longsword into the ground, he raised a silent eyebrow towards them.

"Come on boys, why don't you pick on someone your own size?"

The guards became angered, spreading out to overtake Jorgan, all save one, who stayed over Theron, a spear to his throat, preventing him from moving. (Although he probably won't be paying attention ;))

"Ohh," said one "Another troublemaker, here to rob the place clean no doubt eh?"

"Tsk. Do I look like a petty theif you inbred moron?" Jorgan challenged, as the guards began to circle him slowly. "I hope you gentlemen realize you don't have a chance against me." he said.

"Ooohhh, one big man, thinks he can take all six of us huh? Well then, lets see what you got before we cut you down to size!"

Jorgan raised his hand, a single flick of his fingers accented his simple challenge.

"Come get some."

The first guard fell moments later, his head hitting the ground before his body did...

The second and third guards thought teamwork was the way to go... they died together, a dagger in both of their chests...

The fourth guard felt the need to prove he was better with a sword than Jorgan by disarming him...So Jorgan killed him with his own blade...

The fifth guard took that oppertunity to attempt to run Jorgan through from behind... he didn't realize his mistake until he noticed a leather boot with a big "fourteen" on the bottom coming straight at his face...and felt a sword in his gut...

The sixth guard was the smart one...he ran for his life...unfortunetly for him, there were others with Jorgan......

Turning, he sheathed his broadsword and walked towards his longsword. Pulling it out of the ground were it still stood, he turned now and surveyed the scene, sheathing his other sword, and popping his neck.

Theron was lying on the floor in pain. He rose with difficulty. The light in the courtyard glistened on the blood which now covered some of his face. He tried to wipe the blood from his face, but his arm was numb from being thwacked by spears and clubs, as was most of his body. He staggered over to Jorgan and fell into his shoulder.

"...*cough*...Thanks...brother..." Theron gurgled, blood trickling from his lips.

"We must...go now." Theron managed to say urgently. Suddenly the sound of a bell went off.

"Run!" Theron shouted. He ran as fast as he could. He had a limp in his left leg, which had a cut in it.

As the frightened guard ran past, the violet-eyed mercenary stepped out in his path just in time to cath him across the soft skin of his thoat. The mortally wounded man fell to the ground clutching his neck, to no avail.

Brooke sheathed her long sword as Jorgan and an injured Theron ran up. The monk's leg was injured, affecting the man's speed as they ran. Brooke looped his arm around her neck allowing more speed as the wieght from Theron's bad leg was lessened.

"Now that the guards are looking for us, we cant be out in the open like we used to. I suggest we go to my temple. I need to rest. I would like to take a bath in my ice tub. "Wait here." Theron whispered. The four were in front of the great temple of Corria. It was all ice. This ice did not melt and it was not cold. It was enchanted by the goddess herself. Theron walked up to the great sliding doors, the others were waiting by the stairs. He turned to them.

"Do not worry friends. This temple is protected. Any person who enters with misgivings will experience the rage of Corria, the white ice dragon and uh...me.

The monk opened the door. Inside was a large room with a giant bamboo mat on the floor. On the matt was a giant blue diamond. This was where his students trained. There was training weapons on the wall and dummies on sticks for fighting. On the wall opposite the door was a giant ice sculpture of a dragon. Two walkways were next to the sculpture on both sides. One led to Therons quarters, the other was a guest room for other visiting monks to stay in.

"You may enter. Go to the door on the left." Theron said to the others who were still outside, motioning them to enter.

"You will find that the guest room is very large and is made to hold up to 10 monks. The ice is not cold. And their is a kitchen and two bathrooms that extend from the guest room." Theron explained.

When everyone was in, Theron closed the great sliding ice doors and put a steel bar over it, locking it shut.

Following Theron's instructions, Brooke entered the Temple with the rest of her friends and turned left, entering the large guestroom. Choosing a bed, she dropped her over-stuffed pack on the floor next to it, and rubbed her aching shouldes with a grimance. Carrying all her possessions with her at all times got painful at times.

Releasing her long sword and it's sheath from the strappings aroung her waist and shoulders, Brooke then sat crossed legged on her bed as she quickly cleaned whatever was left of the guards blood on it. Satisfyed of her weapons were clean and well, she then re-wsheathed her sword and various daggers, as to not make the monk nervous.

Keeping the weapons in their holdings, but keeping them off her so sh'd be more comfortable for a time, Brooke then decided to help the others get settled.

Jorgan stood silent, staring at the cot in front of him. He glanced at it, and then at his feet, and back again, doing the math...

"A five and a half foot bed, and a seven foot body..." he murmered to nobody in particular. Dropping his small pack, he popped his neck, and then began to remove his weapons. Three swords and five knives later, he took a seat on his bed, removing his studded leather vest, exposing a lithe, well toned torso covered in scars, some mere inches, while one was at least a foot long down his back. He bent over, running his hands through his hair, and removed his leather bandana, his hair falling slightly over his eyes now.

Sitting there, with his elbows on his knees, he rubbed his temples, a look of intense sadness on his face, as though he were about to cry.

Glancing at Jorgan, a frown creased Brooke's features as she noticed the pained look on the theif's face with concern. Walking over and crouching on one knee next to him as he sat on his bed, she asked quietly, "Jorgan, what is it? Are you injured?"

"Jorgan, what is it? Are you injured?"

"No...I'm okay...I just get to breathe now, ya know? Like...relax. It's nothing...just stress, I guess."

He shook his head, staring at the floor.

"I miss my father." he said finally, breaking the short silence. "I miss him, I miss home, I miss him teaching things to me. Everything. It's just a lot of stress...I've never found the man that killed the king, and my father. HE was poisoned ya know... It's just hard, and I think about the people I just killed. I've always wanted to be a hero. Even if it was just to one person. I just killed five men. Five men with lives of their own... hopes... dreams... families... I killed them. Some hero."

He shakes his head again. "I was always taught to fight with honor. My father must be rolling in his grave. I've just got a lot to think about, that's all."

He picks up the bedding from the cot, and the cot adjacent to him, and lays them out on the floor next to his bed. With a groan he lays down and his improvised bed (due to his height) and closes his eyes, though it is obvious that he will sleep little this night...

Brooke tried to console her friend the best she could, knowing exactly how he felt. She didn't like having to take lives either, but unfortunately sometimes the situation called for it. She tried to console her friend the best she could, but given the look on his face, her worrds did little good. Brroke gave Jorgan's shoulder a sympathetic pat, then returned to her own cot and closed her eyes.

As the sun roise the following morning, glistening off of the ever frozen Temple of Ice amidst the city of Palathas, the companions awoke.

Jorgan was the first to speak that morning. "I've got some people I gotta talk to... I'll be back sometime later. Don't worry, I'm not leaving town, but I might be gone awhile..." he said half-heartedly as he walked towards the door. He was dressed in his armor again, though as he exited the Temple, everyone who was paying attention noticed one odd thing about him... he was weaponless. His blades lay strewn around by his makeshift bed, his swords leaned against the wall, his green bastard sword almost glowing in the early morning light that streamed throuugh from the Temples upper balconies.

OOC: The basic idea is that he is depressed about having lost his father, and being unable to locate the rest of his family, being lonely in the world, and doing things that would have dissapointed his father... anybody who notices that he has left all his weapons may be intersted in following him, expanding the story a little...;)

Brooke awoke early as Jorgan was getting prepared. Having been busy getting dressed, seeing to breakfast, and strapping on her weapons again, the merc had stayed silent as Jorgan had explained that he had to go out for awhile.

As Brooke finished packing, she herard Jorgan leave the Temple. Turning to ask if he wanted any of the breakfast before he left, the question died on her lips as she noticed that the big fighter had left without his weapons!

Letting everyone know that breakfast was prepared, the then pulled her gloves on as she gathered Jorgan's weapons up. Explaining to the other's she would be back soon, Brooke raced out of the Temple in search of her companion.

"Start the mornin' off right eh?" laughed the barkeep as he poured Jorgan a mug of ale.

"Yeah, whatever." said Jorgan, sounding depressed as he slide a steel coin down the bar towards him. "You hear about a bard named Duncan around these parts? He's tall like me, can't miss him."

"Not that I can think of...he related?"

"Yeah. How about a female knight of the sword? Blonde hair, real tall, real pretty. Name's Eliza?"

"Nope, neither."

"Yeah, thanks anyways." he said as he downed the mug and walked for the door. "Two down...one to go." he thought.

He walked past the docks, heading up the street. Somewhere along the way he picked up some companions... the kind that didn't like him. In random intervals, and at random locations, four different men began to tag along with him all the way up the street, looking casual as they walked, as though they were out for a morning stroll, but to the trained eye they were clearly following Jorgan. He seemed oblivious, lost in a world of thought, as though something chewed at his mind. Eventually he came to the cemetary, stone mausoleums rising quietly towards the morning sun, the light glistening off of cold tombstones wet with morning dew. His followers continued walking up the street, continuing their charade of innocence. Jorgan weaved his way through stones and graves, wrapped in the silence of departed souls.

Finally he stopped, overlooking a small, plainly ordane grave.

"Emily Rachelle Courtland... hi mom..."

He went down to his knees, and began talking to the small stone plate that bared her name.

"It's been awhile... I'm sorry I missed your birthday... so many things have happened..." he said as he pulled out a small lilac bloom from his vest and layed it next to two other, slightly older blooms of lilac.

"I see Duncan and Eliza made it here a couple days ago. I'm sorry. I was still out at see, coming in." A tear slid down his cheek, which he quickly wiped away.

"So many things have happened..." he began again, trying hard not to cry on his mothers grave.

Somewhere in the distance, they watched. There was a price on his head, and the four were bound and determined to collect. Taking this oppurtunity of distraction, they began to creep through the cemetary quietly towards him. Unarmed, and emotionally distraught, they considered this to be the smartest way of killing him, and ironic too. The four young men found a sick humor in the idae as they creeped past silent tombs and markers, knives drawn, closing ever closer towards Jorgan, as he satg on his knees, talking to his mother.

Brooke had tracked her saddened friend to outside a tavern, where he only stayed for a few minutes. She would have leeft Jorgan in peace, but the fact that he was obviously being followed by the four men who had followed him to the cemetary concerned her.

In his depressed state, she wasn't sure wether the kneeling fighter knew he was being watched by the men, so Brooke manuevered herself so she could see the four strangers as well as toss Jorgan his weapons if the need arose. Although she silently hoped a fight wouldn't break out here - it was a cemetary after all.

But if Jorgan needed her to back him up, she would.

He talked about everything. His inability to ride boats without getting horribly seasick, his search for his brother, the wall that had been driven between him and his sister now that she was a knight, his travels, his adventures, the friends he had gained, and those he had lost. The words poured out, akin to a waterfall.

The four weaved through the cemetary on swift silent feet. None noticed Brooke, as their prey was imediately before them.

Jorgan noticed. As though he possessed a sixth-sense, his eyes shot up, his sentance hung in the silence. A look at the knives confirmed his susspicions. These men were intent on killing him on his mother's grave.

"Not here, gentlemen." he shook his head. "Not now."

Of course, the men listened little, and continued to advance upon him. It was obvious they hoped to box him in. With no weapons he was defenseless. And yet, it was clear he would shed no blood here, on this site.

The first attacked with lightening speed, his knife slicing Jorgan's armor as he threw his body back to avoid the blow. Catching his balance, he ducked to avoid the next swing, and swung his fist as hard as he could, catching him just below the jaw, sending him off his feet to his back.

"I told you guys, not here, not now."

BIC: Having still not noticed her location one of the remaining four men that were intent on atacking Jorgan, circled around to try and get the big man from another angle. In doing so, he put his back to Brooke. Since the man didn't know she was there, the woman took the oppurnunity to take him out of the equation.

Silently, Brooke unsheathed her sword from its harness on her back, took it in both hands and cracked the poor guy over the head with the solid hilt of the weapon.

The fallen man fell to the ground with a thump that echoed the sound of the hilt when it had connected with his skull.

Checking the damage quickly, Brooke was relieved to see she had not hit him hard enough to kill him, only leave him out cold for awhile.

"Come on boys, let's give the dead some rest, before you find yourselves laying next to them."

The three bounty hunters (that sound good I think) closed in on him further...

"Three...." he counted.

Somewhere in the mix he had lost one, and as his concentration broke for that split second to count, they attacked. In a lightning quick flash of steel, the first man swung his knife at Jorgan, the second attempted to trip him, and the third began to circle around behind them. Jorgan dodged back from the blade, his already exposed chest bleeding lightly from the razor sharp cut across it. The trip caught him full in the knees, tumbling him backwards. As he landed on his back, the third man attempted to leap on top of him, but Jorgan countered by "catching" him with his feet, and throwing him back towards the front. With the grace of a feline, he performed a perfect Kippup and took a more traditional fighting stance, the humor from his face gone.

"Okay. There's three of you, and one of me...you should have brought more..."

At this, the three realized that they were missing one, and one of them glanced around, his attention drawn away, as he looked for their fourth, missing, member.

"Feel like making it a bit more equal," came Brooke's voice as she stood up from where she had disposed of forth Bounty Hunter.

Stepping out of the shadows of a tree, the violet-eyed Mercenary easily tossed a couple of Jorgan's forgot daggers to him. Wether he used them or not, at least he had them now. The rest of his weapons could be retrieved after the three jerks backed off.

The appearance of the attractive woman seemed to have stunned the three men into silence. None of them made a move as Brooke made her way around a few gravestones, sword in hand, to Jorgan's side.

"Not here, gentlemen. Not here, not now. Trust me." Brooke warned, her violet eyes flashing dangerously.

ooc: Hey everyone. Sorry about the delay. Im on vacation and wont be able to post as frequently as i usually do for about a week.

ic: Theron was restored from the nights rest He wokeup to see Jorgan leave, but did not follow. He knew when a man needed to be alone, and it was one of those times.

It was just Theron and Hitomi in the Temple of Corria after Brooke ran out after Jorgan. Theron and Hitomi were enjoying breakfast when suddenly a knock came from the door. Theron started.

"Damn! It's class time! How could I forget? Hitomi, you gotta go in the back room for a little bit. They cant see you!" Theron spoke nervously.

Theron ran to the door with nothing on but his white pants.

At the steps of the temple was three boys in their late teens.

"Good morning master. You were not outside as we had planned. It is our morning session. I do not mean to bother you Master Theron, but, did you forget?" One of the kids asked.

Theron sighed.

"No, Kent. I was just getting ready to come. Go on and get started men. Derrin, you lead." Theron said to a very rotund boy. The fatfaced 17 year old nodded and the three were off of the steps and onto the grass. These were Therons best students. Kent was the smallest, standing a mere five feet. This kid could jump and was more aerobic than any of the other students. Derrin, the large kid, specialized in flipping and using his weight to overcome his opponents. Derrin weighed 400 pounds, but was fairly quick for a man his size. The third boy was Soma. He was well trained in kickboxing and rarely fought with his fists. He was shy and rarely spoke. Theron loved all of these kids like sons, and they loved him in return.

The three were finished when Theron joined them. He held two staffs with large pads on both ends. The foursome walked over to two stumps in the ground, five feet apart from each other. This is where they would train balance, but mostly it was for fun. After a few rounds of fun, one in which Derrin sent Theron flying into a fountain, the group went on to agility training. Theron was taken by suprise when out of nowhere four hands grabbed him from behind.

"You are now under the custody of the Palanthas Guard. Charged with theft and murder, you will be executed monk!" A bearded guard said harshly. Four more were behind him, with clubs in their hands. Soma ran up to one of the guards and kicked him in the gut with force. A club swiftly struck him in the head. The 18 year old boy fell to the floor. One guard stood over him now.

"Easy guys this is my boy. I will deal with him." a bald guard snarled. He looked down at his son with hatred and shame. He struck his son in the face with a gauntleted hand.

"You bastard! You are not my father. I only have one!" Soma shouted in fury, motioning to Theron. He ignored the blow and spit in his fathers face. Theron was starting to be cuffed when from behind Derrin swung a log into a guards face. The man flipped backwards from the force and lay on the ground on his stomach. A guard swung his club into Derrins plump stomach. The big kid staggered then was aided by Kent whe come from behind the guard with a sweeping kick that caught the man by his ankles, sending him to the floor on his back. Soma tackled his father to the ground and chopped him in the neck. Anger filled his eyes. He had no remorse for his real father. Soma rose, his father still on the ground. He lifted his leg high, then brought his heel down hard upon his fathers chest. There was a crack and then he lay motionless.

Theron elbowed the bearded guard in the nose causing him to stagger back. He bumped into Derrin who then lifted the guard by his shirt collar and tossed him in the air, making him land with a thud.

"Derrin and Kent! You two must go home. Do not fight the guards if they find you Accept the charges. I am sorry to get you involved, but school is off for a while. I am in rouble, and so are you Soma. You have murdered your father, a guard! You will be killed if found. Just stay with me okay Soma?" Theron asked.

The kid nodded, blood covering his cheek where he had been struck. The two others bid the two farewell then ran back home.

"Wait here!" Theron commanded Soma, who just nodded in reply. Soma waited at the path to the stairs as Theron ran into the temple.

"Hitomi! We gotta find Jorgan and Brooke, then we gotta get the hell out of here!" Theron shouted, hoping the women had a plan that would get them all out of this mess alive.

"Nah, I can handle myself without a blade. I've just never killed anybody without one..." he grew quiet suddenly, before shaking his head and continuing. "But you gotta do what you gotta do. That's what dad would always say mom said... she took an arrow trying to protect him one night. It was the night I was born, premature, because she was going to die... even if she haden't of taken the arrow, the birth would have killed her. Three children that grow up to be as big as me start out pretty good sized to begin with. And I as premature, I'd of been the biggest of the three... Ya know, there's an old legend my father and grandfather used to tell us, maybe I'll tell you sometime..."

Jorgan's attention was drawn away as he watched two white robed mages, two red robed mages, a black robed mage, a young woman with a wolf, and a pale looking man with a bloody bandage on his side travel down the street past them.

"Is there a mage convention or something in town?" he asked sarcastically.

Rounding the corner towards the temple, Jorgan stopped suddenly and put an arm in front of Brooke, holding her back. The city gaurd was coming out of the temple, dragging Theron with them.

"We step out for five minutes, this is what we get... wait until they are gone, they haven't seen us yet. Then we'll go check on Hitomi." Jorgan said quickly.

The gaurds hauled a beaten Theron down the street kicking and screaming, hitting him heavily and cursing at him. "Stop your fighting! There's no escape now! You're going under trial tomarrow with that other murderer we caught...and you'll hang for what you've done..." echoed down the street...

Jorgan broke into a dead run, pulling Brooke by the hand through the gathered crowd, and bolted into the front door of the Temple.

"Hitomi!" he called. "Brooke, find Hitomi, I need to think for a minute..."

OOC: Im fine with being taken by the guards, but thats not what I wrote. I wrote that my students helped me fight them off and then I ran in the temple and shouted to Hitomi. Ill play this card though.

BIC: Theron was in the temple looking for Hitomi when he was suddenly struck from behind. He couldnt see or feel. The monk noticed the smell of some sort of acid that mus have been applied to his face by cloth, making him blind for the moment. He collapsed into burly arms. He heard Soma fighting and screaming, but then there was complete silence. The monk felt being dragged on the cobblestones of his temple courtyard. He hoped Hitomi was alright and wasnt found.

Theron knew when he was outside. He heard the commotion of morning shopping and gasps from townspeople who must have seen the beaten monk. Theron struggled and realized he could not beat them this way. He had little strength left...enough for one more prayer.

It began to hail in the courtyard. Great chunks of ice fell everywhere. He heard children screaming to there mothers and the guards cursing. Theron was not strck once and neither were the townsfolk. Theron was more tired than he had ever been. He never thought he had the potential to cast a hail storm. Perhaps he had been in favor of Corria for his sacrifice for his new friends.

The last thing the monk remembered was being tossed onto a hard stone floor and then the slam of a door and the clanking of locks.

Theron woke up to the feeling of thirst amd starvation. He had not eaten for a while it seemed. He tried to open his eyes and was successul. However, his vision was a bit blury. He crawled over to the wall and climbed up on his feet to a barred window. He saw the sun beginning to set and made the assumption that it was the same day, just in the afternoon. His vision was clear now and he turned to look upon his cell. There was someone in a straw bed. He was short and had a long grey beard. He appeared to be a dwarf.

"Mornin to ye. Hear you had a crazy night eh. The names Rodax." The dwarf said in a deep rumbling voice.

"Am I ...*cough* *cough*.. where I think I am?" Theron asked with a gruff voice.

"Well if you think ye be at the Stargazers Plaza, your wrong mate. But if you be thinkin you in Palanthas Prison, you be thinkin just fine. Death row in fact!" Rodax said with booming laughter.

"Death row? And why is this so funny to you. You are about to die fool! Thats nothing to laugh about you crazy old dwarf." Theron said with annoyance. The dwarf looked at him with a serious sympathetic look on his face. He lifted a glass of water from the floor and handed it to the monk.

"Drink up lad, you be dyin of thirst." Rodax said. Theron gulped it down without hesitation. The dwarf then lifted a loaf of bread which Theron took very gratefully and shoved into his mouth.

"Thank you friend. So, when will this 'death' of mine occur?" Theron asked.

"Oh, um...you go after me. Tonight in fact. Theres going to be a whole festival. Everyone is waiting to see the death of Theron, the ice monk of Corria." The dwarf said with wide eyes and a grin.

"You know who I am? Well i suppose thats okay. Dot worry Rodax, we'll get out of this alive." Theron said patting the dwarf on the back. "I have powerful friends. They'll save me." Theron said. He realized then that he was hoping this. He hadnt known them for very long and he didnt know if they would save him or not. He talked to the dwarf for hours. He made a friend in that cell, two hours before both of their executions.

There was an hour and a half left before both the cellmates executions. Rodax, the dwarf, and Theron were playing cards that the guards kindly gave them. Theron taught Rodax of his religion in the midst of the games.

Both of them looked up in suprise at the sound of clanking locks. The large wooden door swung open and a body was tossed onto the floor. It was a boy that appeared to be in his late teens. He had auburn hair and wore a torn black cutsleeved shirt and dark green loose fighting pants.

"Soma!" Theron gasped as he crawled over to his student.

"Speak Soma! You must get up." Theron shouted in worry. A guard by the door gave a slight chuckle.

"Heres yer new cellmate boys." The guard said. He laughed again and closed the door. Peeking through the window he stared at them.

"By the way, your plans have changed. You will be fighting in the colliseum in about 30 minutes. I'd get that little fighter of yours up and ready for the big fights. You better pray to yer god monk. Hahaha. You'll be dyin just the same as you would of if you were to be exectuted. Hahaha..." THe guard walked away. His laugh could be heard down the corridor.

The three cellmates were alone now. Theron lifted Soma and leaned him against a wall.

The boy opened his eyes and stared at Theron for a long moment.

"Soma. What happened to you?" Theron said rubbing the boys scarred up face with some torn fabric from the boys shirt.

"Back at the temple. They brought you down. They covered your face with that terrible smelling cloth. I fought them as best I could Theron,...I really did. *cough cough*. But..." Soma had to stop due to a coughing fit. Blood trickled down his cheek. Rodax quickly got some water for the boy, who sipped it slowly.

"Take your time Soma. We have a lot of time." Theron said stroking the boys long hair.

"Derrin and Kent...they came back when they saw you being dragged away. Derrin fought bravely. He was skewed by a guards spear. *cough* *cough*, ...those bastards!" Soma stopped and took anther sip of his water. Theron covered his face with his eyes and felt tears coming to his eyes.

"It started to hail. But we were not hit once. Only the guards, Theron." Soma continued. "Kent and I were distraught. We saw it happen. We saw our fellow brother fall. Kent went beserk...*cough*...I took refuge in the temple. Kent followed shortly, blood covering his hands. Guards were marching towards the entrance. Kent took up a samurai sword and stood at the door. He must have felled three guards before an arrow was shot into his heart. I was all alone. I fought as you had taught me to master. They beat me down. While they were dragging me along the trail of blood from your body, I saw an odd couple run into the temple. One man must have been near seven feet tall! The other was a women armed with daggers and swords. Three ran out of that temple..." Soma said before going into another coughing fit.

"Did they escape! Did those three escape?! Tell me Soma! You must tell me now!" Theron shouted urgently.

"Yes...yes they did. The guards did not notice them." Soma explained after he sipped his water. Theron sank back against the wall and began to weep.

"They ran away without me." Theron muttered. "They left me to die. Those people Rodax, they were my rescue and they ran without me!" Theron said getting furious. He took his glass of water and he hurled it into the cell wall, shattering it. The dwarf limped over to the weeping monk.

"Do not fret my boy. We will fight for our freedom in the tournament today. We will fight with honor and pride." The old dwarf said limping over to sit on the bed. The three sat there silently. Soma rose to his feet.

"Im tired of this! THe only reason I continue on in this life is to avenge my fallen brothers. Theron, you might have been betrayed by your friends, but we are hear. Rodax and I will not leave you. We will fight side by side against whatever evil faces us. Now are you goint to stand there and weep? Or are you going to fight for your students who loved you like a father. They died trying to save you, and thats more than your so-called friends can say!"

"I understand that Soma." Theron spoke seriously as he rose from his bed. "But i will not give up on life as you have. LIfe is not over for any of us. Not yet. We will show the world what we are made of today! If we dont escape, so be it! I will not give up on both of you. For Kent and Derrin!" Theron shouted with dignity. The door opened again. The guard snickered.

"Play time is over boys. The tournament will begin in ten minutes. But dont worry boys, you dont fight till seven. We need to register you three though. Heheheh. Men! Secure them." The guard commanded. Four guards with clubs and spears marched into the cell and restrained the three inside with leather straps. The dwarf did not change his face. It was calm and peaceful. Filled with years of torment and pain. Soma looked at the guards in anger. He did not struggle though. Theron looked up and spoke with Corria. When the guards were shoving them out of the cell, Theron stared at the guard by the door with such pride and dignity, the guards face turned white and the guard backed away a bit.

The three were brought through the streets and led to the colliseum. Townsfolk looked at them with pity.

"Release our friend! Release Theron!" Chants echoed down the street, but were soon blotted when they were entering the colliseum gates. It was a huge arena. What was once an open arena now had a roof. In the battle clearing, there were all kinds of things. There was a fire pit and a tower with rope ladders and wood ladders branching down from it. There were swinging ropes coming down from the colliseum ceiling. There were many spikes coming from the ground. Soma looked at these obstacled with excitement. He had always dreamed of becoming a brawler."

The three were brought to a room, more like a cell than a room. There were feather beds and chests along the walls. This was there waiting room. The guards by the door had swords. The three were released by the four guards with clubs and spears. THere leather straps were unbound.

"You will now follow us to the private training grounds. Your weapons have been brought from the jail. You will train with them or anything in there you wish to equip yourselves with. There are a dozen armed guards constantly watching you in there so dont try anything foolish." A gruff voiced guard at the door said. He led them to the training grounds. Rodax lifted a twohanded doublesided axe. It had a gold trimming on the blade. Theron got his staff back. The monk also experimented with a samurai sword. Soma walked over to the monk when he lifted the sword.

"Look familiar master? Thats the sword from the temple. The one Kent used when he died...the one i wielded when they captured me." Soma said patting his master on the back. Theron looked at the sword in disbelief and shock.

"Well, do you want to use it?" Theron offered Soma. Some placed his hand over therons which bore the sword hilt and pushed it to his masters chest.

"No Theron, you will fight with this blade today. Keep your staff retracted on your belt." Soma said very gently.

Soma, who didnt weild a weapon oher then his powerful legs, found boots with three inch steel spikes in the front and back of both boots. The three warmed up, and it was much needed. Especially for Rodax, who had been in jail for fifteen years. He had not held his axe in about thirty years. He swung it around, trying to get a feel for it again. Theron and Soma realized he was once a great fighter, and what he lacked in youth, he repaid for in knowldege.

They practiced on dummies and wooden poles. The three also talked about escape plans quietly and unsuspiciously so the guards couldnt notice. In the end they came to the conclusion that they would just keep on fighting.

The first couple of fights had already started. It was only thirty minutes now until they would be in the arena

OOC: Hey Glass - if you get here before I do (see "Luni's Problem's") Brooke will just tag along with the plan until I post. :D

OOC: Perhaps we should take a break for a while. It seems people have been quit busy lately.

Also, I've been thinking that we dont have a lot of people in this thread and perhaps a small reruitment of two or three people is nrcessary. The thread is 140 posts in , which wards people off. I was thinking about having an OOC Thread saying that we need someone to play Kension or to play anyone else in the story. Just my opinion. I think six people is more fun than four, thats all.

OOC: Sorry guys, I swear I will get caught up sooner or later.... I've been tired and pretty nauseated in the evenings when I get home from work, and barely have enough time to scan through the messages.....

And if you wanted to do an OOC for this that's fine with me, we'll need two characters though.... Ontarys has given up his character... he says that the only story he really has time for is the Final Nightstalker story... then I think he's bowing out of the RPGc... so we'll need someone to play the char who framed Kension(And come up with a reason why) and then either the same person or another can take Kension himself....

Just keep Hitomi with the group and I will get caught up, work is screwy right now and I've been so tired....

OOC: I'm still here too. I'm able to post in the afternoon a bit, then once Friday comes I'll be back at my normal schedule. :D I'll just keep Brooke tagging along with Jorgon and Hitomi when I'm not here and when I am, I'll get her active.

Come on Friday! :D

OOC: So is it agreed we'll take a break or recruit...or something?

Glasswalker
08/18/2003 5:48 PM

OOC: Well, I don't really wanna take a break, I'm not sure why I said that to be honest... an extra person or two would help carry the story along easier, but might serve to confuse it even worse, especially someone who wasen't here from the beginning... not that they couldn't read the thread I guess, but... does anybody get what I'm saying? The alternative is always US bringing in another charecter...

"Is there a mage convention in town or something?" Jorgan asked sarcastically....

But that also means on those weekends when I'm out, or someone else is busy, the story comes to even more of a halt... I'd like another player or two, but just that, 1 or 2, I like closer interactions with fewer people. It make the story more, "connected" I guess. So anyways, let me try to set this up for all of us...

BIC: Jorgan led Brooke and Hitomi out of Palanthas through one of the smaller, side gates. Following the road on foot they reached a small village within a few hours. Checking into the local inn, Jorgan reserved a group room, with four beds. Unloading his stuff, he stretched, and sat down on the bed, breaking the silence that had enveloped them for the past few hours.

"I'm NOT abandoning Theron. Let's make that clear right now." He said, the determination in his voice ringing through the silence. "Our easiest approach is to get out of town.. The Guards are all looking for us now obviously, why would they take JUST Theron?" he shook his head.

"No, they are after all of us. We need to make our escape from the city tonight. At least until the heat dies down. There's always somewhere else for us to go." At this he unbuckled the sheath of his bastard sword and handed it to Brooke. "I want you to hold onto this for me until I get back. I know it's a little big for you, but it can be handy. You see... the blade, it's special, made of a metal that doesn't exist anymore. It's non-magical, and yet, it slices clean through any metal known to man and dwarf alike."

"Of course," he said, turning away from Brooke, "All this talk of running somewhere else doesn't mean that we're leaving tonight. I have a feeling Theron will be put to the test in the Arena first. If he dies there, he dies. If he lives, They'll probably execute him in the morning. Either way, I don't have much time." He said, walking towards the door.

Turning around he winked at Brooke. "Just lay low for tonight. I promise I'll be back.. Trust me it's safer this way. I know a couple guys in town, They aren't involved, and the guards aren't looking for them. Maybe they'll help me? Who knows, either way, next time you two beautiful ladies see me, I'll be back with a friend or two in tow.... cause I got a feeling that Theron isn't the only person we're looking for that's in that Jail..." he said as he closed the door behind him, reminding everybody why they were invoved in this in the first place.

OOC: Glass is right. If we recruit a few more people, the story wouldnt stal so much when someone leaves for a bit. Nobody should feel pressure to post. The four of us are all frequent loyal posters, we have the right to take our time as long as we know this story will keep on going. The only problem is, I dont think recruiting people to play characters that were already made will be an easy task.

BIC: Theron, Soma and Rodax were all sitting on their seperate beds in the waiting room. Rodax played with his ancient axe, Soma sharpened his spiked boots. Theron sat in his bed with his hands clasped together. He was praying to his goddess Corria.

"My godess. What have I done to deserve this fate. I am here for the wrong reasons. Tell me what I have done wrong?" Theron pleaded in a voice only he and his goddess could hear.

"My boy. You have been isolating yourself from me. You should have spoken to me the night you and your friends stayed at MY temple." Corria said with slight anger.

"They are not my friends. As we speak, they are off on the road, leaving me here to die!" Theron said with such anger and sadness.

"You are wrong Theron. First of all, they did as you wanted Theron. They left unharmed. Isnt that what your last thoughts were before you got knocked out by the guards. Your my follower, my boy, I can read your thoughts. Second of all, you are making a great sacrifice for your friends. But do not think you will not see them again. Your life on Krynn is not over Theron, you still have much to do for me, and them." Corria said softly and kindly.

"I believe you Corria. I will not lose faith in myself or my friends. If I die today, I will die knowing they will be okay. I must go now my goddess. Please visit with Derrin and Kent in the embrace of Paladine. Tell them of how much me and Soma miss them, and tell them we are okay." Theron spoke, tears coming to his eyes.

"Do not worry Theron. They are nearby. You will succeed Theron. I will leave you, but know this my boy, sometimes you cannot save a friend, no matter how hard you try. Remember this." The last words from Corria were harsh and penetrating. Then Therons mind was silent.

The door opened and two guards with swords entered. Behind them by the door were ten soldiers in ceremonial armor. One of the soldiers stepped between the two guards. He had a feathered helmet and appeared to be a general by his cape.

"Your time has come. Follow these legions to the arena. If you dare attack you will be killed on the spot and lose the chance to fight for your freedom. You three are on death row and will be facing the most dangerous of the competition. Nobody expects you to win, so you mise well put on a show, but dont bother trying." The general said with a slight smile.

The three were soon walking down the hall. Five soldiers in front of them and five behind them. They came to a gate which a large muscular man with a wip and long black hair in a ponytail opened. As the group of soldiers and the three walked out, cheers filled the arena. It was packed. This was a huge event for the townsfolk of Palanthas. Everyones friend, Theron the monk, was being put to his doom. They enjoyed this kind of spontanious entertainment. It was a sick thought, but sadly true.

Theron inspected the arena floor. There was the tower in the center with the ladders dangling from it. The monk noticed many other obstacles, like large blazing fires shooting from vents. Along the walls were a variety of weapons from all over Ansalon. The three were brought to the center of the arena, which was next to the tower and marked with a huge red circle. Rodax whispered something about it not being all paint.

Trumpets sounded and the general began to speak into a cone shaped megaphone.

"These three prisoners will be fighting to the death with our assortment of gladiators. Our first round will be a game of capture the tower. These three will have to survive an onslaught of our trained fighters for ten whole minutes. They will be starting in the tower. In the large tower are many weapons. The fight will begin when the soldiers leave the arena. The enemy gates will open and then locked when all are in the arena. There is no escape." At this last comment the crowd cheered and chanted. The three were forced up sixty foot rope ladders till they got to the top of the tower. Once at the top, the three looked around. There were six ladders leading up. Two on three sides. The fourth side had a large canvas stretching down from it at a 45 degree angle. All along the tower was a three foot high railing, except where the ladders came up. There were ropes dangling all around the tower, coming from the ceiling of the arena.

The soldiers had left the arena and the iron gates were closing. The three in the tower and everyone else in the arena now had their attention on the gate opposite the other. They all anticipated what beast or warriors would doom the monk, his student, and the old dwarf.

The gates opened and all were silent. A loud chanting echoed from the long corridor leading to the gate. Suddenly, dozens of Wilder elves rushed out of the gate. They were all bare chested males covered in body paint. They held spears and clubs. Soma looked at Theron in fear.

"Thirty master." Soma gasped.

"Maybe you better take this after all." Theron said to his student, handing him Kents samurai sword. Soma took it nonhesitantly and held it so tightly his knuckles turned white. He kept clenching and unclenching his empty fist. He danced around with his legs loosening the muscles.

Rodax looked out at the wilder elves and simply sighed. The greyhaired dwarf walked over to a crate filled with lead balls the size of the dwarfs fist and started making piles near all the ladder tops.

Theron eyed the wilder elves who seemed to be waiting for something. They were standing in a long line. The monk noticed some looking back down the corridor. Theron reached down to his retracted staff on his belt and pushed the button which released the two ends. It was its full six feet now.

"Great Reorx! What in the Abyss is that thing!" Rodax grumbled in shocked fear. Theron and Soma looked up at the gate. They gasped in horror. They could not explain the beast they saw.

It walked on two feet like a human. It was twice the size of a human and covered in thick white hair. Its eyes were small black beads. It must have been twelve feet tall and was more muscular than anything the monk had ever seen. Its fists were huge and it walked with its long arms too occasionally. Four wilder elves held it on leashes, pulling it four different directions. These Kagonesti elves were the most well built of the group.

A booming voice was heard. It was an announcer using a megaphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen. Behold, from the far southern regions of Icereach, the great fearsome...yeti!" The announcer said. The crowd oohed and ahed.

Theron, Soma, and even Rodax just looked at each other in silent fear. The gates closed and were locked. The wilder elves lifted their weapons and chanted and clicked in their strange language. Then they charged forward, over the obstacles, towards the tower in the center of the arena...

"Come on Glasswalker, you gotta help me man."

The black haired mage eyed him cruelly. "I said NO! What part of no don't you understand? You know what happened last time I helped you? I got arrested and tried for the theft of an enchanted dagger! A dagger that was well within my own personal bounds of power to create in the first place!"

"Oh, come on man, just one spell?"

"NO! GET OUT OF MY SHOP!"

Jorgan left the mage's shop discontentedly. "So much for HIS help. Damn, he's moody sometimes..." he said, shaking his head. "Okay, Blade's outta town, Iolo is dead, Beau's dead, Marshall's dead, Garet's disappeared, and Casper has become a werewolf... pickin's are slim tonight." he said as he walked past one of the many local bulletin boards. Stopping, he took a few steps back and eyed a crudely drawn mugshot of himself.

"Five thousand steel... no wonder those goons in the cemetary were after me..." he trailed off as a thought caught his mind...

*five minutes later*

The two guards watched as a man nearly seven feet tall walked towards them. He seemed vaguely familiar...

"Hey guys." said Jorgan. "You wouldn't happen to be looking for a man who looks just like me would you?" he asked as he unrolled the wanted poster of himself.

*I hope this works* he thought.

"Uh...yeah...he does look kinda like you... 'sept he's better lookin' " said the first, slightly slower one.

"You moron." said the second one. "That is him." he turned to Jorgan. "What are you trying to prove? you think you're cool or something?" he whistled, and the guards on the upper wall trained their bows on Jorgan. "Now that you're here, you're not getting away." The guard said coldly.

"That's okay. I'm turning myself in. But I want a chance to fight for my freedom. Put me in the arena. I here there's a man named Kension in the arena tonight. I want to fight him. I've got a score to settle with him..."

"Well, you heard wrong buddy, there's no Kension in the Arena tonight, but he is locked up, of course...." he said as the doors opened and the Guards led Jorgan inside...

*within the arena... five minutes later*

As Theron, Rodax, and Soma fought for their survival on the tower, down below, two more gates opened, on seperate ends of the arena, and Jorgan and Kension were shoved out of there respective doors.

The announcer boomed "Tonight we have a grand spectacle for all of you...! Added to the mix tonight is Jorgan Courtland, Mercanary Swordsman Extroidinaire! and at the other gate, Kension, the former head of the guard in Palanthas, found guilty of assassinating the lord of the city just last night!

Kension stood strong in his black leather armor, and drew his twin scimitars, and began cutting a wake of destruction through the elves, headed towards the tower.

Jorgan stood in all his glory, listening to the crowds chant his name. Then he popped his neck, first to the right, then to the left. He drew his long sword, then his broadsword in his other hand. He flexed his shoulders, and set his sights on the yeti. To him it was the biggest threat to anybody. Doing as Kension was currently doing, Jorgan too, cut a wake of destruction through the elves, severly crippling any who got in his way as he honed in on the Yeti...

Theron turned his gaze to Jorgan. The monk was shocked but relieved at the same time. His attention turned to the Wilder Elves who were swiftly climbing up the long ladders to the three at the top of the tower.

Rodax hurled many iron balls down at them. He struck one in the face, sending him falling a good forty feet, when he landed, blood trickled from the mouth and he lay motionless. Three reached the top at once. Soma used the spike on his heel and drove it into an elfs chest with a spinning kick. He fell back, falling and hitting one of his friends on the ladder, bringing them both down.

Rodax swung his axe at an elf, taking off the warriors legs in the process. Theron looked over at the old dwarf and noticed heavy breathing.

The monk was taken by surprise as a Wilder elf tripped him with its club as it was coming up the ladder.

Theron rolled over and pivoted his staff right when the muscular wilder elf jumped at him. The elf landed on the blunt end of the staff with his gut, knocking the wind out of him. The elf staggered up, holfing his midsection. Theron charged at him and tackled him. The two went rolling down the canvas all the way to the arena grounds. Theron got up and brushed himself off as did the elf. Theron studied his opponent as they circled each other. He had a large black spider tattoo covering his well built bulky body. Certaintly not the common slender build of an elf. He had long black hair that covered some of his face. His club was spiked on four ends.

Finally the elf made his move. He charged at Theron who quickly ducked right before the club was about to smack him in the head. Theron did a back flip, kicking the elf in the face in the process. The elf staggered a bit then fell to the floor. Theron got his barings and he saw the elf on his knees, trying to stand. Theron whispered words of magic and his mohawk began to freeze into icicles. He dove into the air, head first. Theron connected with the elf, the iscicles going straight into the elfs chest. The elf roared in pain. Theron pulled his head away, and stared at the elf who now lay on the floor with five holes going down his chest.

Theron looked around. He saw Rodax and Soma still in the tower. They didnt seem to be having much trouble at the moment, but Theron saw about twelve elves climbing up the ladders towards them. Theron also saw Jorgan and another man fighting a good amount of elves. Jorgan and Kension seemed to be dealing with the yeti which it looked like, needed more than two people to bring down.

OOC: Lets make bringing the yeti down a group effort. :)

Not knowing if her friends were okay or not, Brooke stretched out on her bed as she thought about Theron and Jorgan. As the looked at the heavy bastard sword that lay beside her, Jorgan's words rang in her ears.

Just lay low for tonight. I promise I'll be back.. looking for them. Maybe they'll help me? Who knows, either way, next time you two beautiful ladies see me, I'll be back with a friend or two in tow.

Brooke wasn't used to laying low, but for the sake of Hitomi and the others, the mercenary had resolved to keep her urges to keep moving in check.

She would wait right here until Jorgan returned.

Hopefully he'll have word on Theron...maybe even Hitomi's friend Kension. Brooke thought silently as she stared at the ceiling.

Soma and Rodax fought valiantly in the tower. Even though they were greatly outnumbered, the two managed to overcome the odds.

Each one of them guarded two ladders. Now that Theron was gone, two ladders were unprotected and neither of them knew it. Four elves crept into the tower. They were all armed with spears except for one who had a red tattoo of a bull on his chest. This elf had a wooden shield with the same symbol on it and also held a curved sword in his right hand. He had a leather mask covering his face. His dark brown hair was tied back with a leather band.

Soma and Rodax turned at the sound of loud chants and clicking sounds. The four were taunting them.

"Rodax, guard the other ladders. If we both attack them, all the elve on the ladders will swarm us. Keep them at bay. Ill take these guys.

Soma stepped closer to the four and unsheathed his sword.

"Bring it you mother fucking tree huggers!" Soma shouted. One spearmen ran up to Soma. Soma thrust the samurai sword into the elfs gut. The two other elved with the spears charged at him. He didnt have time to retrieve his sword. Soma jumped in the air and grabbed a pole at the top of the tower. Right before the two elves were gonna thrust the spears up at him. Soma kicked them both in the face, one with his left, the other with his right. The spikes made their mark and the two fell to the floor. Soma dropped himself from the pole.

"Well..."Soma said, breathing heavily now. "...you must be the captain." The young fighter said staring at the man with the bull tattoo and the shield.

"Yes. This is not personal. We fight for freedom as you do. Now, you will die!" The elf said in his deep voice. He ran towards Soma and swung at him with his sword. Soma ducked in time, but then was kicked in the face. In the moments of staggering, The elf swung his shield into Soma, who flew to the side from the force. The crowd cheered. The prisoners were puting on an amazing show. Many expected it to be a quick event. This fight was definately going into the archives, many crowd members said.

The elf laughed. Soma pulled himself up, using the railing of the tower.

"Your dead meat!" Soma roared, wiping blood from his mouth. Soma ran for his sword and pulled it out of the elfs gut. He was not trained with a sword, and didnt use his arms much either. Te elf noticed this by the way Soma held it with two hands and kept shifting his feet around nervously.

The elf laughed again and then charged at Soma. In his nervousness, Soma just gave a swift kick into the elfs chin. He couldnt get his foot out. The spike was stuck. Blood gushed out all over the elfs neck. Soma panicked, the elf was not going down. The elf looked at Soma in wide eyed shock. He then lifted his sword. Soma could not escape. The elf held his leg up with his free hand.

Rodax came from behind the elf and swung it into the elfs back. The elf dropped his sword then fell to his knees, releasing Somas leg. Soma rose his sword and swung it with all his might. He sliced the elf across the face. The elf fell to the ground with a thud, motionless.

"Corria bless you Rodax." Soma said greatfully. "Lets finish off these bastards!"

"Your on!" Rodax roared. He ran up to one of the ladders and chopped away at the wood with all his might. The elves climbing up noticed what he was doing and began scrambling their way down. A few who were not that far up jumped.

When the wood was loose from the tower, Rodax kicked the ladder away. The elfs screamed in fear as it began to tilt. Many were a good fifty feet up. The ladder came crashing down, sending the elves on it to there deaths. The crowd went wild now. What a fascinatng sight!

Soma looked at Rodax with surprise.

"Why in the Abyss didnt we think of that before?" Soma said, laughing out loud. The two went over to the other ladders and started doing the same. The elves learned from their friends deaths and began sliding down. One or two had ropes nearby and grabbed them. The ones on the rops began climbing up to the tower. Soma and Rpdax began cutting these ropes loose, much to the crowds and their own enjoyment.

There were now about eighteen elves left. Many had their targets on Jorgan, Kension, and Theron. About six were running to the fire pits with their spears and clubs. They stuck there wooden shafts into the fire and made torches. They ran over to the base of the wooden tower and began startng fires on the wooden shafts.

Rodax and Soma looked at each other in fear.

"Screw winning! They're gonna kill us anyway, even if we do win this little game of theirs." Rodax said to Soma. The fire was spreading quickly. Flames began licking the canvas.

"Hurry! Before it turns to ash!" Soma shouted. The two friends jumped out of the tower and landed on the canvas, rolling down to the arena ground.

They got up and brushed themselves off. The tower was now completely reathed in flames. Rodax and Soma ran around in search of Theron.

Adrenaline pumped. Heads flew. Bodies fell.

*let the bodies hit the floor... let the bodies hit the floor...* ;)

Wilder elves fell to peices in waves as Jorgan and Kension fought their way towards the Yeti. Jorgan observed Kension's skill with a blade, and though it didn't match his in comparison, Jorgan was impressed nontheless.

The two reached the Yeti at the same time.

"What's up?" yelled Jorgan to Kension. "Looks like you could use a little help!"

"Aren't you the one the guards said was gonna kill me in the arena?" Kension yelled back.

"It was a ploy. A trick. I'm here to rescue you and Theron, the monk who's kicking ass over by the flaming tower!"

"So you figured the yeti was the best target?" asked Kension as they circled the enraged yeti.

"It's that or thirty wild elves, take your pick. Personally, I see more challange in the single yeti." Jorgan laughed.

They circled the yeti, spliting it's attention between the two of them. It turned towards Kension first, leaving it's back open to Jorgan, who pounced on it, ramming his broadsword into the yeti's back. The attack did little to faze the yeti. The monster simply began to swing, trying to throw Jorgan off of it. Kension took the oppurtunity to take a couple swings at it's belly, leaving two large gashes in it's stomach. Neither wound seemed to slow the beast down, they just fueled it's rage. The Yeti began to chase Kension around the arena, as Jorgan held on to his protruding sword for dear life...

The room was just to small.

Even though the room Jorgan had aquired for the group held four large beds, in Brooke's agitated state it felt like the walls were closing in.

She paced, she cleaned all her weapons, she tested out the wieght of Jorgan's bastard sword (he had been right, it was a bit awkward for her), she exercised. In short, Brooke Daggerstar did everything possible to keep from worrying about her missing companions.

None of it worked.

Many times the attractive mercenary went to the door, preparing to go after her friends. Each time, she stoped herself.

Just lay low.

So Brooke continued to pace.

Theron noticed the yeti chasing someone. He then noticed an extremely tall person hanging onto the yetis back.

"Jorgan!" Theron said to himself. The yeti and the man were running in a big circle. Theron ran closer to the scene. He had to help somehow.

"Wallius Icius!" Theron chanted, stretching out his arms. A wall of ice about 5 inches thick materialized three feet behind the running man. The yeti, being about eight feet behind the running guy, smashed through the ice. The yeti stumbled over from the sudden, unexpected impact. Theron smiled.

"Jorgan could handle the rest." The monk thought to himself.

The remaining sixteen elves targeted Soma and Rodax. They charged at them, spears in front of them. Soma ducked and slashed the first one in the gut. Rodax, what was behind him, finished that elf off with an axe swing to the stomach. Two elves rushed past Soma, hitting him with there spiked clubs in the process. Soma had two wounds now, one on each shoulder. He could not use the sword so he thust it into an elfs heart. Rodax spun with his axe, hitting both the elves with the spiked clubs in the thighs. They fell to the ground and Rodax finished them both off with two hard swings down into their chests. Rodax was too tired to move anymore. Soma kicked as many elves as he could, but weariness was overcoming him as well. He kept it up as long as he could.

A large elf swung a massive wooden club into Rodax from behind. The dwarf crashed to the floor hard. He was lying on his stomach. The elf took up the dwarfs axe and rose it high above his head. He laughed and said something in the wilder elves strange language. The axe blade came falling down toward the dwarfs back. A hand grabbed the shaft, stopping it. The force from the falling axe, made Theron flip over to the other side of the dwarf. The axe kept falling, but stopped about an inch from the dwarfs back since Therons hand still held it as best he could. While lying down, Theron took his free hand and grabbed a spear from a dead elf and swung it into the elfs legs. The elf tripped and fell over. Theron got up slowly from being tired. Soma ran up to the fallen elf and kicked him in the head, impaling the spike into the elfs skull. Ten elves with spears made a large circle around the three, keeping their distance. Theron and Soma helped the dwarf to his feet. The elves snarled at them. Soma stepped forward.

"You say these guards keep you here as slaves right?" Soma said loudly and clearly so the foriegn elves could understand. They looked at each other in suspision, their spears still up. They muttered quietly to each other then a tall one with white paint across his face stepped forward.

"Yes. We were enslaved and forced to fight here for a long time. We were captured and brought here by the humans in shiny clothes."The kagonesti spoke in surprising english.

"We were captured as well." Soma replied. "If either of us win, they will still torment us for the rest of our days. They might even kill us!" Soma said sharply.

The elf looked back at its fellow warriors.

"The general promised us freedom if we win this fight!" The elf responded angrily.

"I bet he says that every fight!" Soma said back to the elf with impatience.

The elves looked at each other and nodded.

"You make good point human. What are you proposing?" The tall elf asked. Soma sighed. Theron now stepped forward, pushing Soma back.

"Well, we should help each other, not fight each other. We should fight these guards together and try to escape. See that man attacking the yeti? Hes a killing machine, he can help us." Theron explained. The thirteen marched toward the yeti together. The crowd gasped in surprise.

See that man attacking the yeti? Hes a killing machine, he can help us."

OOC: I laughed for about five minutes after reading that ;)

BIC: As the yeti regained it's balance and began to stand up, Jorgan put a boot to it's back and removed his broadsword from the Yeti. Swinging it hard, he brought it down on the beast's neck, embedding it about half way through. Kension came back strong, bringing both of his matching scimitars down on the beast's head, leaving a bloody mess. In pain, the yeti roared loudly, and with amazing speed, it stood up. Kension barely had time to remove his blades, and Jorgan failed to get his. Instead, he drew his longsword and took a couple steps back.

The Yeti's white fur was running red now, from his head and neck were three wounds that would have killed any lesser creature. Instead, it only aggrevated him. Charging Jorgan, it swung it's claws wildly, raking the front of his armor open and drawing blood. Kension took the oppurtunity to attack it in the back, his blows doing little except to enrage the beast more. An elf took the chance at attacking Jorgan now, his attention drawn to the yeti. He swung his spear at Jorgan, who calmly countered by slicing it in half midswing and slicing open the elves jugular. The elf fell to the ground wide eyed. Jorgan never turned his gaze from the yeti.

The yeti beat it's chest madly, blood oozing down it's chest to match Jorgan's own. The broadsword still inbedded sideways in it's neck seemed to slow it little. The crowd went wild when the yeti let out another roar of challange. Kension drew away, the cry hurting his ears, and he noticed a circle of elves around the other three contestants. the elves had slimmed out now, and there seemed to be only around ten, all circled around Theron, Soma and Rodax. The tower was almost gone, burned to ash, along with most of the other burnable material in the arena.

Jorgan held a stone cold gaze on the monster, watching for the moment to strike. It charged him again, this time tearing open his left arm. The force of the blow knocked him to the ground, and the yeti pounced on him. At the last moment, Jorgan thrust his sword upwards, and the yeti's chest came down hard on the blade. In incredible agony the beast stood up, drawing it's body off of the blade and began flailing it's arms madly. Jorgan got up and made a multitude of quick slices to it's stomach. The Yeti swung one great claw as Jorgan closed in for the kill, catching him one final time on the right arm, slicing open flesh, tearing muscle, and spraying blood. But it was too late. Jorgan put all his strength into one final stab, thrusting his blade upwards into the Yeti's eye. The force of the attack threw the yeti to it's back, dragging Jorgan with it. The Yeti crashed to his back, twitching, yet motionless. Jorgan brought himself up to one knee, still astride the dead monster. Looking at his wounded right arm, he removed an object embedded in it. A great claw from the beast had broken off when it struck him. He put it in his pocket for safe keeping.

Standing on top of the twitching yeti, blood running freely down both arms, and down the remains of the studded leather armor on his chest, he took a slow, ragged breath. With a sharp tug and a pull he removed both his longsword and broadsword from the yeti's carcass and stepped down off of the beast's bloody chest. Pointing his longsword at the group of elves who were now marching towards him, he yelled across the arena.

"All right. Who else wants some...!?"

"Jorgan! Stop killing the elves!" Theron scolded through clenched teeth. Rodax, Soma, and Theron were standing within the line of elves.

The elves were looking at the bloody, dead yeti with numerous swords jutting out of its body. The elves started whispering to each other. Then one by one they started to step forward and kneel before Jorgan.

"Groden, great god of strength, give us freedom." The elves chanted in common. Theron couldnt hold in his laughter. He stepped forward to pat his tall friend on the back. Ten spears flung out, pointing at his neck. Therons eyes went wide with shock and surprise.

"I mean no harm to Grofen. I mean Groden! You see, we are friends." Theron stated with a convincing smile, though really, he was very uncomfortable. The spears lowered.

"We shouldnt stand around! The guards are gathering. They must know our plan." Soma said with impatience, stepping forward.

Theron turned to Jorgan.

"I know you are hurt Jorgan, but we gotta get out of here. Get your swords mate, we won the battle, but we have not won the war!" Theron said with a smile. The monk marched forward, hi staff in hand, towards the gate in which they came out of. On the way, Soma picked up the samurai sword. He shook it and shouted, taunting the guards at the gate.

The gates opened and caped legions started rushing out of the gate, forming a blockade. They were armed with round shields and long swords. The general stepped out in front of them all.

"Halt! You are prisoners of the arena! You will do as I say!" The general shouted in command, unsheathing his long sword when he realized they were not halting.

"I repeat...Halt!" The general repeated. The small group of men were only twenty yards away now.

"Kill them! Kill them all!" The general commanded the legions. The legions, about twenty total, marched forward.

"Freezos!" Theron chanted pointing to the ground between them and the charging legions. The armed legions slipped and fell everywhere as a sheet of ice materialized on the drt ground below them. Theron began thwacking the closest ones with his steel staff. The elves rushed forward and thrust their spears in some fallen legion. Soma jump kicked a legion with is spiked boot in the nose. Rodax, who was still very tired, gave all his old age would allow him, and ran up to the already hurt legions supplied from Theron and finished them with his axe. Theron chopped a legion in the face. The legion fell over, however Theron had struck his helmet. He rubbed it in pain and was nearly killed by a charging legion if it werent for a spear tht came flying from the air nd landing in the legions unprotected neck. Theron turned to see the tall elf with the white face paint and nodded in thanks. The elf nodded back with a smile and picked up a fallen legions sword and rushed into the fray.

"Kill them! They are mere wilder elves! Whats the matter with you fools!" The frustrated general shouted over the sounds of clanking armor and weapons.

Jorgan and Kension stood side by side, surveying the fight between the elves and the Arena Legion. They both needed a breather, and were on the back line for once. Pain arced through Jorgan, making it hard to even breathe comfortably. Not often was he injured this badly. Kension made a move to intervene, but Jorgan held him back with a bloody arm.

"No. Wait. The elves are fighting for their freedom. Let them do what they can first."

It sounded cold hearted he realized suddenly. Why he had said it, he wasen't sure. It just seemed the logical thing to do. Jorgan looked around, and realized that the only people injured worse than him were dead.

"We don't need to go and get ourselves killed just yet. Stand your ground, play the defense this time." he said, wincing in pain "Besides, I may need some help myself."

"Jorgan, you're losing alot of blood, we need to get you outta here!" Kension said, breaking away from Jorgan and rushing into the fray.

"Dad always said the best defense is a good offense I guess.." he mumbled, shaking his head as he too, entered the fight.

At a quick glance, Kension estimated there to be fifeteen Legions left. Engaging, one, he parried the man's swing, and countered with a devestating one-two swing to the gut.

*fourteen* he counted to himself.

Now he found himself surrounded, four men coming at him. One charged, but an elf came from the side and tripped him with his spear, and then pounced on him. The three remaining began to circle Kension, drawing closer with each pass. Two attacked at the same time, and Kension parried both attacks with ease. The third Legion made contact with Kension's leg in his thrust, slicing it wide open. With a riposte, Kension caught the first man off gaurd and peirced his jugular, while he kicked the second man clean in the gut. as he spun to engage the remaining Legion, he suddenly found himself on his back, the wind knocked out of him.

Where the blow had come from he didn't know, but it had caught him square in the belly. He went down hard, while the Legion raised his sword above his head for the final downward swing. Suddenly, the blade of a sword peirced his chest from behind, and the man fell to his knees, collapsing in the dirt.

"Watch yourself." said Jorgan, winking at Kension.

By now the guards were being pressed back by the combined efforts of Theron, Soma, Rodax, Kension, Jorgan, and the six remaining wilder elves. The Legions numbers had been cut in half in a matter of minutes, the blood still flowing from the lifeless bodies.

"Fall back!" cried the commander "Archers! Take your positions!" he called. "You'll never escape!" he yelled at them, as archers began to line the upper walls among the crowds, readying their bows and drawing arrows.

"Press them back!" yelled Jorgan. "Get through the gate! Hurry!" he yelled, as he made an all-out charge towards the guards and the gate that held their freedom...

Theron joined the charge, and to his surprise, all the guards, including the general, ran out of their way. They went to the right of the hallway. Theron noticed Jorgan and the elves about to charge after them.

"Guys, we cant take the whole Palanthas army! Lets run for it, this way!" Theron urged, running down the left corridor. The group ran down the corridor, and soon enough, the ten legions and the captain were now chasing them from behind.

"Forget about them, we gotta get out of this city let alone this damn arena!" Theron urged once again. The monk kept running till he bumped into something and fell to the ground, dropping his staff in the process. He looked up and saw a guard, with size to match Jorgans, hovering over him. Behind this giant guard was the door which appeared to lead outside. The guard grabbed Theron around the neck with one hand and lifted him up with ease. He slammed him against the corridor wall, lifted above the ground and choking. Theron kicked his feet, but it did little to the giant man.

Theron poked the man in the eyes, who dropped him and rubbed his eyes in fury. Theron evaded a swing of the mans massive fist. He rolled out of the way and grabbed his staff. Theron ran for the door. He turned the handle and realized it was locked. The guard, who still had his hand over his eyes, charged towards Theron. Theron dove to the floor just as the big man lept over him, crashing through the door. Theron stepped over the big man and started to run through Old City. He turned to see the rest right behind him. They were getting close to the gate. The guards on the wall blew trumpets of alarm and began to close the gate. Theron and Soma simply ran up the stairs leading to the top of the wall. A couple of guards stopped them, but many stood aside to let the monk go.

"Peace be with you Theron." Some guards said, standing aside to let the group pass. Theron swng his staff into the guard who dropped the gate. He flew over the wall. He then kicked the lever as hard as he could snapping it.

"Good work master! Now what are we gonna do?" Soma said in worry.

"Do not worry my apprentice, you should not doubt my actions." Theron said with a grin. Theron jumped off the wall and onto a canvas from a food stand in New City. Soma followed, as did Rodax, who needed help from the tall elf. The shop owner shook his fist at the group of men and elves. The group ran through New City, arrows whizzed by. One elf was hit and Theron carried him on his back. When they were out of the archers on the walls range, Theron turned around and saw about fifty legions and guards massed in front of the, for now, permanently closed gate.

"Good night everybody. It was a very fun filled evening, but I am afraid I must bid you farewell. Ta ta!" Theron said with a mocking voice. He laughed as the general pounded his fist on the iron ate in frustration.

The group was far down the path from New City.

Theron walked up to Jorgan and patted him on the shoulder as best he could.

"Thank you my friend." The monk said, exasperated. "You saved my life once again. But now, I think we both need some rest and aid. Where are Brooke and Hitomi? We should go to them now, dont want to keep them worrying or anything."

BIC: Jorgan winced in pain as Theron patted his shoulder. Blood still freely poored down his arms and chest, and his complexion was begining to grow pale.

"Not a problem." he said nonchalantly. "The girls are out of town. I got them out when you got arrested. Just head out the west gate and it's about five miles down the road."

Looking around, He stopped in his tracks. "Shit. Kension!" The man in black armor had disappeared. "Theron, you guys get outta town, get to the inn, and lay low for the night. I gotta find Kension and then we'll catch up." he said, as he started down the street away from them, heading back into the town.

"Oh," he said turning around "Give this to Brooke for me... it's my promise I'll be back." he fished into his pocket and threw a six inch claw encrusted with his own blood towards Theron.

"Don't worry, we'll catch up, and don't make me have to come bail your asses outta jail again!"

BIC: As night began to fall, Brooke laid down on her bed and tried to rest. In her worried state over Jorgan and Theron, however, it was a useless exercise. Within 10 minutes, the Mercenary was pacing the room again.

Each time she looked out the window, her violet eyes darkened more and more with worry.

After a time, Brooke found herself sitting cross-legged on her bed, Jorgan's bastard sword laying in her lap. Before she realized what she was doing, she had retrieved a few thing from her pack and was cleaning the large weapon.

I hope he's alright. I hope he found Theron and Kension.

Brooke had never felt so attached to a person - or persons - since her parents had died. All night, flashes of Theron's face entered her mind, images of Jorgan's face. As unexpected as it was to be thinking about the big warrior's face, Brooke found that it wasn't unpleasant.

Methodically cleaning and caring for the bastard sword, the shy young Merenary continued to wait.

Theron noticed a small sign that read "Setauket". It was a small town, he noticed, as he saw the few houses and the old fashioned style of the place. It was dark out now. Probably around eightish. Theron had no trouble finding the inn. It seemed half the people in the small town, which wasnt that much, were in the inn right now.

Theron, Soma, Rodax, and six elves walked through the inn door. The barkeep approached them.

"What you need fellas?" The fat barkeep asked in a raspy voice.

"I am here to meet some friends. Two women came in with a tall man. What room are they in?" Theron asked politely, very anxious to see his Brooke and Hitomi.

"Those two lovely ladies are in room 7. If you want, we can get the town doctor to pay you all a visit?" The barkeep said, looking at all the groups wounds.

"That would be kind of you sir. I would also like another room if you wouldnt mind. You see, there are a lot of us." Theron said with a wink, tossing him a gold coin.

"Oh, sure, you can have room 6 too. They are both at the end of the hallway, right up those stairs.

Theron walked up the stairs and down the hall to room 7. He knocked three times. He heard hurried steps and the door flung open. Theron and Brooke embraced each other. Theron was smiling more than he has in a long time.

"It is so great to see you again." Theron said, walking through the doorway. He saw Hitomi sleeping in one of the beds.

"Brooke, I want you to meet my student, Soma. And this is Rodax, he was my cellmate in jail. These wilder elves helped us escape. Everyone, this is Brooke."

Soma blushed at the sight of Brooke. He bowed and took her hand in his, kissing it. Rodax simply waved. The elves all bowed in respect.

Theron excused himself as did the others. They went across the hall to room 6. The inside was spacious.

"You eight can stay here okay. Rodax is in charge." Theron said, with a scolding glance at Soma, who was about to protest before the door slammed in his face.

Theron returned to room 7 and sat next to Brooke on a bed.

"Jorgan went to get Kension. He told me to give you this." Theron said, handing her the bloody yeti claw. "Not the most reassuring gift I guess, but he's okay." Theron said with a small laugh.

Theron told Brooke all about the fight in the arena as the two waited for Jorgans return.

Brooke introduced herself to Theron's group in turn, blushing shyly at how respectful they all seemed. She smiled at Soma's reaction to her. Have grown up and only child, and prefering to stay isolated since her parents' passing, the young woman was less than accustomed to people. Even less accustomed to caring what people thought of her.

Yet here she had just hugged the monk as if they had been friends for years, and trading stories with him openly. As the talked, Brooke kept turning the yeti claw Jorgan had sent over and over in her hand.

She hated not knowing how the other two companions were. It made her feel so helpless!

At least Hitomi will be happy when she finds out Kension is alright. Brooke thought with a smile.

OOC: NO, I like it very much. Jorgan is always flirting with woman and they always turn him down... he's got a big heart though.

BIC: The shadows stretched across the land, the moon crept slowly through the sky, playing silent witness to those who traveled the roads at night. Palanthas was alight, the guards crawling through the streets in search of the escapees. Jorgan found Kension after frantically searching the streets when the companions had seperated. He discovered Kension had been nabbed by a pair of burly guards brandishing maces. Jorgan had killed them, using what little of his failing strength he had left and freed Kension.

The pair had had to fight their way through back alleys and across rooftops to make their escape from the city. Both were heavily wounded. Jorgan had taken even more of a beating freeing Kension. His side was bruised (or would be in the morning) from a strong attack with a mace. His chest was a mess. All his strength had drained out his arms, the wounds inflicted by the yeti refusing to stop, though they had slowed down considerably. Now, the armor on his chest was all but gone, torn to shreds by the guards with maces. His torso was covered by shreds of studded leather armor, his bare arms bloodstained, more of it his than his enemy's. His jaw was swelling, he had taken a few hits to the face in the brawl. His hair was caked with blood. He had a small cut on his scalp from a tumble he had taken, it refused to stop bleeding. Now his hair was plastered to his forehead, sweat and blood mixed.

He had removed his bandana and tied it around Kension's leg in an attempt to staunch the bleeding. Kension had fared better than him, but not by much. He had taken a deep cut to his left leg, and his back was freely bleeding from the beating his captors had given him, their maces tearing through his armor after repeated blows. His face was swelling, already one eye was black.

Within the first mile of Palanthas, Jorgan collapsed on the roadway. Kension helped him up and they continued on, each supporting the other the best they could. It was not until nearly five hours after Theron and company had arrived that Jorgan and Kension drug themselves into the inn. The fight up the stairs was enough to kill any lesser men, but together, they pushed themselves up the flight of stairs and down the hallway to room 7.

A slight rattle of metal at teh door signaled Brooke and Theron that someone was coming. The latch released and the door swung open slowly to reveal Jorgan supporting Kension. Step after slow, laborious step, they drug themselves into the room just far enough that the door could close behind them before collapsing face first on the floor side by side. Kension was out before he hit the floorboards.

"I told you I'd be back." Jorgan groaned before slipping into unconsciousness, a puddle of his own blood beginning to form underneath him.

"I told you I'd be back." Jorgan groaned before slipping into unconsciousness, a puddle of his own blood beginning to form underneath him.

Shocked that Kension and Jorgan had returned so soon, and noticing the both looked like hell, Brooke - with Theron's help - went to work getting the two unconsious men on the beds so they could be tended too.

"Theron, can you tend to Kension? I'll see to Jorgan."

Having spent many years having to fix herself up, Brooke knew what to do. First she disgarded the remenaance of Jorgan's leather armor, and using clean, hot water she got from downstairs, washed all the blood of the large Warrior. Once she was able to see all of his cuts, the young woman spent time to stitch up all his cuts. With the blood out of his hair as well, she was even able to - carefully and gently - clean and stitch the cut on his scalp.

All the more serious wounds cleaned, stictched and dressed, Brooke observed the sleeping man. His jaw was swollen and his side was already showing signs of a bad bruise, but other than that he wold be okay.

Brooke smiled him as he slept. Almost subconiously, she reached down and touched his hair. Then she pulled her hand away after a moment, before Theron could see the action.

Clearing her throat and standing up as she hardened her expression again, Brooke did what she cold to help the monk with Kension.

"Why dont i just get the doctor? I told the barkeep to send the village doctor up to us. Hes probably in the other room. I'll just run in there and get him." Theron explained. He left and went to room 6. Just as he assumed, the elf who was shot with an arrow was being treated on the bed by the doctor, Rodax was being treated by an attractive female assistant. Soma was in the bathtub, washing off his wounds, he had bandages on his shoulders.

"Hello master. Is Jorgan back yet?" Soma asked.

"Yes, however he is badly hurt. It turns out the other man is Kension." Theron explained.

"You mean the man who killed the lord of Palanthas?" Soma asked in wide eyed shock.

"I doubt it was him. The guards are accusing anyone wearing red." Theron said. He walked over to the doctor, a thin man about the monks height. He had glasses and wore a white apron, which was now pretty messy. He told him the two in room 7 were badly hurt, and Theron himself needed some tending. The doctor and his lovely assistant, who was tending to the now dissapointed dwarf, left the room to go to room 7.

Theron returned to room 7 with the doctor and the nurse. They bandaged up Kension and fixed his wounds. Theron sat in a chair as the nurse rubbed healing ointment over his body, much to his enjoyment. The two did some finishing touches on Jorgan and then left. Theron was very tired. This room was rather crowded. Kension was lying down in a bed with Hitomi, who didnt know any of them were there. The huge Jorgan slept in the other bed. There was room for one more in the bed, but Theron found it strange to sleep next to another guy his age. Theron said goodnight to Brooke and went downstairs to the inn lobby.

He drank a lot of ale and celebrated the occasion with many pretty women.

Sunlight peeked through a window and awoke monk. He looked around and realized he was in one of the inn rooms. He felt an arm across his chest. He turned his head to see a beautiful blond asleep next to him on a bed. He turned to the other side to see an equally attractice red head. Theron sighed with a smile and fell back to sleep.

OOC: I thought there was 4 beds in the room, but oh well. This works too. :D

BIC: The nerse and doctor had left after tending to Kension anddouble checking the work Brooke had done on Jorgan. They said it was fine, and the Mercenary accepted the compliment with a smile.

Theron soon left as well, leaving Brooke in the room with Jorgan, Kension, and Hitomi. The two friends were sleeping in the same bed, oblivious to each others presence. That only left one other place to sleep - the beed that Jorgan was in. Realizing this Brooke flushed to the roots of her dark hair.

She spent some time putting all her supplies back in her pack. This done, she took of her sword sheaths and her boots. Arranging herself carefully, as to not disturb the warrior beside her, Brooke Daggerstar soon fell asleep.

OOC: Yes, I was the one who clearly stated that there was four beds. We'll just say that one of them has an unspeakable stain in the middle of it... ;)

BIC: The room swam. Fire ran through his veins. Pain still coursed through his arteries. Jorgan adjusted his sight to the dark room. He thought he was dead. Trying to roll over, the only part of his body that obeyed was his head, it turned, and he rested his gaze upon the side of Brooke's face, laying calm and serene next to him. Her face was barely visible in the faint moonlight eliminating the room. Jorgan couldn't remeber where he was. His head ached, visions of blood and fighting twisted dark circles in his mind. It tiook himn a moment to realize he was lying in the same bed as Brooke.

"Okay, it's official. I'm in heaven. I AM dead......" he mumbled before falling unconsious again.

Brooke was awoken slightly by movement beside her. Sitting up for a moment, her violet eyes cleared and she saw Jorgan asleep beside her. Looking around in confusion, she realized it was still night.

Hitomi and Kension were still sleeping in the other bed, and the light of the moon cast a peaceful white glow over everything.

Brooke smiled down on Jorgan as she realized it had been his movement that had awoken her. From the look of it, he had unsuccessfully tried to roll over. His head was had turned though. He had undoubtedly seen her beside him before falling asleep again.

Gingerly, Brooke touched the side of his neck. She smiled in relief as she felt hiss pulse point beat strongly under her fingers. He would most likely have a headache in the morning, but he would be fine.

Yawing, Brooke lay back down. Putting her head shyly on the big Warrior's uninjured shoulder, she fell into a peaceful sleep.

OOC: I was going to mention this as a reminder after reading some of the posts... Jorgan is tall yes, very agile and dextrous, pretty strong also, but he isn't exactly a "mountain" of a man in size. I think about that when Queshu refered to him as being the "huge" warrior or whatever, he's tall and well built, muscular, but more like a gymnast than a bodybuilder. also, for anyone who didn't know, his name is pronounced Jor-gan like "george" "ann" or Jor-Jan with a long "o" and a "J". Just for the records incase i didn't remember it or anybody forgot. ;)

OOC: And just so everyone knows: Brooke is kind of short (5 feet tall) but sleek and sexy. She's very agile and quick on her feet. Her hair is a mass of loose, black curls, and she has big eyes that are a deep violet color. When she's angry or worried, they turn almost black.

After two more hours of sleep, Theron got up out of bed. The girls were gone, as he guessed they'd be. Theron stood up and put on his baggy black pants which were on the floor. Theron looked at a clock on the wall. It was 10 oclock. Theron left the room and saw that he was in room 3. Theron looked down the hall and thought about awaking his friends. He then realized that it was a hard day for them yesterday, and they could rest as long as they needed.

Theron, being refreshed and only a little sore in his ribs, walked down the stairs to the lobby. It was pretty crowded with people eating breakfast. The Hoppin Hare was not just Setaukets inn, it was also the only place to eat and had many rooms where meetings were held. Theron sat himself at a table for six people. He ordered some eggs, waffles and a cold glass of water. He sat and ate, waiting for his friends to come down.

Soma, Rodax and the six elves walked down. One of the elves had a crutch under his arm. The tall one with the white paint approached the table.

"Farewell Theron. You and your friends have saved us. I give you this pendant, you are always welcome in the Durando tribeland." The tall elf said with a bow, handing him a pendant with a bull symbol on it.

"Farewell friend. Though I never got your name." Theron replied.

"I am Siobi." The tall elf said, smiling.

"Farewell Siobi." Theron said grasping Siobis hand in his and bowing. The elves all bid farewell to Theron.

Jorgan's eye cracked open. He was still staring at Brooke. It seemed to be early morning, as the room was filled with radiating light from the nearby window. Smiling, he whispered through a parched throat at Brooke who still seemed to be sleeping.

"Am I still dead? Cause I saw an angel next to me all night..."

BIC: Theron was finished with his breakfast. He left enough on the table for the others and ran up the stairs. Soma and Rodax were eating at the table.

Theron walked down the hall to room 7 and unlocked the door with his key. He stepped inside and saw Brookes arm over Jorgan as they laid together in bed.

"Wo! Sorry folks. I just wanted to let you all know that I am very awake and downstairs enjoying breakfast. Come down whenever you want. Theron said, covering his eyes with his hands. He peeked through and saw Jorgan was awake.

"Oh, your awake. Come on bro, before Rodax eats it all." Theron said, he ran back to the hallway and down the stairs.

"Theron, I can't.....move" he trailed off as he realized Theron had left the room again. "Gods, I'm only human..." he attempted to shake his head, but the effort was lost as his head only rolled to the side once. "I'm gonna need more than half a night's rest..."

Theron was now waiting in the lobby. It has been an hour since he went up to wake the others.

"Did Jorgan trip or something?" Theron wondered. He took his steel staff, marked with dry blood in some areas, in his hands and walked out the door. The town was very nice. Everything was close and easy to get to. The monk did not get weird looks because of his appearance as he does in every other town.

Theron went into the general store and was just looking around when suddenly he heard the door open. He heard clanking of armor and Theron ducked behind a shelf of food. He peeked through and saw guards from Palanthas questioning the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper shook his head and the two guards left. Theron got back up and took a wide brimmed leather hat from a shelf and put it over his head, putting down his mohawk. He also quickly put on a white collared shirt and swiftly exited the store. The shopkeeper did not notice.

Theron was now outside, he looked around and saw the guards putting up wanted posters. There were about five, searching every building. The inn was at the end of the street. Theron mingled with the crowd near the market place, making his way to the inn. He saw a wanted poster and ripped it down. He looked at it. There was a picture of a man with a mohawk with his name on it! Theron pulled down another one. It was a picture of Jorgan. Theron saw the description.

"Ten feet tall! Thats a bunch of bull. I get no credit." Jalen said, ruffling up the paper and throwing it on the ground. The last thing Jorgan needed was to see that poster, then his ego would really be gigantic. Theron walked across the street and turned to a couple of guards. One of the women Theron met from the inn last night was pointing to the inn at the end of town.

"Damn you whore!" Theron whispered harshly under his breath. The monk ran through the inn. He grabbed Soma by the collar, who was playing cards with a strange man.

"We gotta get out of here now!" Theron commanded harshly. Rodax went to the window then ran up the stairs. Soma remained seated.

"What in the Abyss is going on Theron?" Soma asked.

"Theron? Whose Theron? My names Hiratio?" Theron said kicking Soma in the shins.

"Oh, right." Soma said with a bewildered look on his face. Theron lifted Soma from the chair and pushed him towards the stairs. Soma quickly ran up. Jalen remained downstairs.

"Freezos!" Jalen chanted and opened his palms, facing the door. Ice formed on the door and the wall of the inn, freezing it shut. Theron ran up the stairs freezing every step behind him as he ran up. Theron ran down the hall, freezing most parts there too. Rodax and Soma were getting there things from room six. Rodax had his axe and armor, Soma had his spiked boots on and put on his vest. Theron unlocked room seven and ran in.

"Wake up! Now!" Theron shouted to his sleeping friends. The monk picked up a chair and threw it through a window. Soma stood guard at the door. Rodax jumped out the window.

"Through the window now Soma!" Theron commanded. The student sighed in dissapointment but then skillfully jumped through the window, landing about fifteen feet down. Rodax was on his back and had seemed to have slipped down instead of jump. Theron now turned his attention to the four in the beds.

"Come on! Guards from Palanthas are coming, we gotta go now! They know we are here!" Theron urged, attempting to lift Jorgans body into an upright position.

Theron heard a crash and saw a guard slide past the door and slam into the wall at the end of the hall.

"Damn ice!" Theron heard shouting from the halls. Theron took off his hat, fixed his mohawk by freezing it then quickly coated the brim of the hat with ice. He threw it, it flew across the room and struck a guard at the door in the head, who then slipped on the ice and fell on his back. Theron then took a small lamp and threw it at another guard, crawling to avoid slipping. It hit him in the side, but he kept on crawling and was soon standing in the room. Off of the ice, the guard smiled and drew his sword. He tackled Theron before he could extend his staff and was on top of the monk. He took a dagger from a hilt at his belt and held it to Therons neck.

"Good night little monkey monk!" The guard snarled.

"Fist of all its only morning. Second, monkey monk?" Theron said to the guard in complete dsigust.

"They're here!" Theron shouted to his friends. "And one currently has me at knife point. Now would be a great time to wake up." Theron said holding the guards wrist with the dagger as long as he could.

BIC: Hitomi had woken at the first cry. She moved quickly as silently as she could. Using what Knowledge of magic she did she whispered her words, using the wilder magic she was so fond of.

"Gentle spirits that bring sleep, send those against us into deep slumber..." A soft shimmer glowed in her hands and she breathed across her palms, scattering the shimmering dust.

The guard holding the knife immediately weakened, giving Theron what Tomi hoped would be the edge they both needed.... She moved quietly her hand reasessing the grip on her sword.

Theron pushed the sleeping guard off him.

"Hitomi! Get out of here now! You still have a chance to solve this thing and prove to the guards who really killed the lord. If you kill a guard they will never listen! Hurry!" Theron said to his friend with a concerned look on his face.

BIC: Brooke woke with a smile. She noticed that Hitomi was gone and the room where Theron's companions were was silent. Turning her head, she suddenly flushed. She was still laying with her head on Jorgan's shoulder...and the tall warrior was staring at her!

Making a move to get up, she looked down....anywhere to avoid Jorgan's gaze...

"Morning.' She mumbled.

OOC: They are all in the same room right now, fighting off guards. Soma and Rodax have jumped out the window, which is how everyone should escape as well.

"Good morning Brooke!" Theron said impatiently, blocking a charging guards sword with his staff. He hit the guard in the side of the helmet with the end of his staff. The guard stumbled to the floor.

A bigger, more muscular guard thrust a spear at Theron. Theron grabbed the shaft right before it was going to hit him. The force of the thrust caused Theron to get thrown back. The guard kept pushing until Theron fell out the window.

"Ahh...oof!" Theron shouted from outside the window as he landed on the ground next to Rodax. Soma was helping the dwarf up when Theron landed right next to him.

"Damn, you guys are bad at jumping. Your supposed to land on your feet!" Soma said, laughing. He then looked up to the smashed window they had just jumped from. "Where are others?"

"They'll be jumping anytime now." Theron said as he stood up wiping the dirt from his back. After a few seconds, he heard sounds of fighting.

"Well, I aint going back up there again!" Rodax said, rubbing his back in pain. Theron looked up at the window in concern. He studied his surroundings. They were on a grass field behind the inn. There was a large tree next to them. Across the field was a road next to a forest. His concentration was broken by shouting.

"Thats them! Over there!" A guard shouted from an alleyway leading to the field. Six guards ran towards them, swords drawn.

"Oh shit!" Thern shouted. "Now we need you guys down here!" Theron shouted up to the window. Soma didnt have his spiked shoes on and fumbled with them to put them on. The guards were running across the field and were pretty close to them.

"Screw it!" Soma said in frustration. He hurled his boot at a guard. The spike struck him in the forehead, making him collapse, probably dead. Rodax ran forward and shouted with rage. He swung his axe into a guards chest, breaking through the chainmail armor. The guard moaned as blood trickled down his mouth and leacked down his chest. Soma struck a guard in the face with a spinning heel kick. The guard spun in the air and landed hard on the floor.

Theron saw four more guards coming. Theron jumped and grabbed a branch from the tree. He swung himself and put his legs around a guards neck. Theron swiftly turned his legs, snapping the mans neck with a loud crack. Theron let go and the man fell to his knees then to the grass.

"Come with me!" Theron shouted to Soma and Rodax. The three ran around the inn and were back at the entrance, six guards were chasing them. They were now running through the streets of town. Theron spotted what he was looking for.

"There! A stable! Lets go!" Theron shouted as he ran towards it. He began untieing a few horses. A townsperson ran up to them.

"Stop! You have to pay for those!" The man said. As he ran towards them, Theron punched him in the face as hard as he could. The man fell to the floor clutching his nose. Soma stared at his master in shock. He then got on a horse. As did Rodax.

"I'll go carry the guards off. Go back to the window of the room, I'll go through where we entered town, the guards will follow me, you can get to the inn more easily." Soma said.

"What? Theres no way I'm sending you out there alone!" Theron commanded.

Soma rode off before Theron could stop him. Rodax followed Soma on his horse.

"I'm coming with you!" Rodax shouted to Soma. Soma turned back to his master who stood there with a shocked look on his face.

"Dont waste my sacrifice master. Once they chase me, I dont want you to follow. You can find me in Solace when this is all over." Soma said, nodding to Theron and bidding farewell. Theron was about to argue. Instead he returned the nod and waved goodbye to both of them. Rodax waved and they were off, riding towards the entrance of town. The six guards ran to the entrance gate and quickly mounted their horses. They rode on, chasing Rodax and Soma. Theron wiped a few tears from hs eyes and continued on with his plan. He got five horses and held all their reigns. He mounted one and led all the others. He rode around the inn and back to the window.
