A waning moon conceals her face
Behind a scudding wind-torn cloud. ...::a wind-tornshroud::
She wraps herself in its embrace
As in a tattered cloak. ...::a shadow cloak::
The wind is wailing in the trees.
Their limbs are warped and bent and bowed. ..::so bleak and cowed::
I stand within my circle now
To deal with what I woke. ::I wake--I see but not yet free::

A wanderer of wizard kind
I was, until a month ago ::so well I know::
The headman of this village came
And begged that I should stay. ::so cold and fey::
"For since our wizard died," he said
"And why he died we do not know-- ::so long ago!::
We have no one to weave us spells
And keep the Dark at bay" ::the dark, so deep: so cold the sleep::

"His house and books are yours, milady, ::remembered pain::
If you choose but to remain."
His offer was too tempting
To be lightly set aside ::remembered pride::
I'd wearied of my travel, being
Plaything of the sun and rain-- :: choose to remain--::
This was the chance I'd hoped for--
And I said that I would bide. ::I hope--I pray--and you must stay::

Perhaps if I had been a man,
And not a maid, perhaps if I
Had been less lonely, less alone,
Or less of magic folk-- ::The spell-bound broke::
Whatever weakness was in me,
Or for whatever reason why ::My reason why::
Something slept within that house
That my own presence woke. ::You dream so much--I try to touch::

A half-seen shadow courted me, ::to bid you bide::
Stirred close at hand or by my side.
It left a lover's token--one
Fresh blossom on my plate. ::Fragarent bait::
I woke to danger--knew the young
Magician still to earth was tied-- ::for freedom cried::
And tied to me--and I must act.
Or I might share his fate. ::I need your aid, be not afraid::

I found a spell for banishment--
The page then turned--and not by me! ::look now and see::
The next spell differed by one word,
A few strokes of a pen. ::and read again::
The first one I had seen before,
The spell to set a spirit free; ::so I will be::
The second let the mage-born dead
Take flesh and live again! ::one spell and then I live again::

Now both these spells were equal
In their risk to body and to soul. ::I shall be whole::
And both these spells demanded
They be cast on Lammas Night. ::The darkest night::
And both these spells of spirit
And of caster took an equal toll, ::task to the soul::
But nowhere is it writ
That either spell is of the Light ::to live and see to touch, to be::

Can it be wise to risk the anger
Of the gods in such a task? ::yet I must ask::
Yet who am I to judge of who
Should live and who should die? ::don't let me die--::
Does love or duty call him?
Is his kindness to me all a mask? ::take up the task::
And could I trust his answer
If I dared to ask him "Why?" ::give all your trust--my will you must::

So now I stand within the circle
I have drawn upon the floor-- ::the open door::
I have no further answer if
This spirit's friend or foe ::nor can you know::
No god-sign has been granted me,
Though I have prayed full often, nor
Can I this moment answer if
I'll tell him "Come" or "Go."

The inner war was almost as tumult as the mage-born storm outside of Jadrie's sheilds. She felt her shields crack and buckle under the fury of what tried to stop her from finishing her unwanted task.

Jadrie shivered as she poured the last of her strength into the sheilds and spoke the last word...

Culom...

"COME!!!" She screamed as it seemed her sheilds shattered...... and she cringed, her magics exhausted, waiting for her own death......

OOC: Okay anyone can play the other mage that Jadrie has summoned back to life (She is a red robe) I would prefer that the person chooses to make the mage friendly...or partially friendly anyway...to her anyway... and then we can figure what "Killed" him ;)

The Mage awoken with a startle he new he was dead but now he awoke from a nightmare of great torment,Who was this that granted him life once more it was a young girl or so belived he felt a great magical aura coming from her he owed his life to this woman and would repay her for that.

Damean(Day-me-n) could she this girl was almost to the brink of death he used the best spell he could think of he was never good at healing (being Black robes) he cast a giant shield around her "galitno" it brought her standing up in mid-air not being affcted by ne thing but slowly reguvanating her.-WOW A DANDELION IT MUST BE THE LAST ONE OF THE SEASON

OOC: WOOPS! Forgive :) The parts in bold and Italics are a song by Mercedes Lackey : " Lammas Night " I was inspired by the song to write the story... and if you read it carefully the second mage is male...

BIC: Jadrie had collapsed, and the mage-born storm outside her sheilds slowly dissapated.... but not without a single lightning strike, that touched the center of her circle a promise that whomever tried to stop her would return.

She felt her strength return, and she slowly opened her blue-grey eyes. Her dark brown hair swirled around her shoulders as the winds died down.

Her eyes rested on the mage she had resurected, and knew insinctively that he was the one sheilding her from the mage-storm outside...and she smiled.

OOC: I want to hear that song now, it sounds beautiful. Hmm, who to play? I gather this is going to be a bit of a mage fest so I think I'll play my rogue in this one...somthing non-magical to keep a balance going.

IC:

The village was akin to the one in which she had been rasied, but Silverdale was a long time ago, as was the story of a murdered sword smith. The twin daggers- made by her father sat at her hips and it was easy to see that the girl who approached did not not trust easily.

She was 16 yrs old now, growing and learning with her every adventure, but she was still rash, impetuous, and madly headstrong and her foul mouth had improved little over the years. Her equestrian skills had improved and showed in the conident manner with which she rode her twany coloured mare, the same colour as her tawny mane, soft as silk. Light Yellowish-brown eagle eyes darted agily around the village and the villagers, looking for signs of dnager. She had a nose for trouble and usually found it.

She was alsi taller now, taller than a dwarf anyway. Erin Fey smiled as she looked over the village.

"Looks like a good place to stop for the night" she said to her companion, as she rode straight for the nearest inn. The mongrel named Dagger lopped after her. The animal was half dog, half wolf. She hoped the innkeeper would be understanding about her pet.

The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Of ships and shoes and sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings.

A young wizard sits studying in his room in the Tower of High Sorcery. His hands neatly tucked in the sleeves of his white robes. His sholder length golden hair over his face, covering his delicate elven features. He sapphire eyes locked on a book titled The Manual of Planes, a book on lend from the Head of the Order.

After a few hours of reading, he places a book mark in the book and closes the book. He stands and walks to the a table where he has a staff leaning against it. The staff is a six foot long staff made of gnarled ash. A large uncut emerald sits at the top. He picks up the staff and then picks up a dagger and places it in his thong around his wrist. He then walks over to the dresser next to his bed and picks grabs a few scrolls and shoves them into his scroll cases, as well as a few rings which he places in a hidden pocket in his robes. He grabs his back pack and head out the door leaving the tower.

He travels north for few days and stops to camp near the edge of Qualinesti, where he cautiously checks the area for Hobgoblins and other uncivilized humanoid which would love to pick him off and eat him for dinner.

OOC: I'm thinking of starting a character for this thread, but I'm still orking on some details. I may put her in the Inn. Anyway, two questions first. 1) Can the storm be seen by everyone? 2) What's the name of the village, if it has one?

OOC: Thanks Kalia. Anyway, I've been trying to come up with ideas for a character for this game. Here's what I've come up with so far.

Name: Jade Firebane
Race: Human
Age: 25
Hair: Long, curly, auburn
Eyes: Dark Blue
Family Origin: Lord City of Palanthus
Rank: White Robe Mage

General Bernard Firemane = 50 years old
Lady Annabelle Firemane = 47 years old
Charles Firemane = 28 years old
Jakren Firemane = 27 years old
Jade Firemane = 25 years old

BIC: Jade looked up from her dinner as another flash of lightening split the night sky. Being a Mage herself, she could feel the magical charge in the air. Closing her eyes with a sigh, she revelled at the tingling feeling she could smell in the air from the storm. Then frowning, she suddenly forgot the euphoric feeling the magic gave her as another feeling swept over her: anxiety. What or who could be causing this strange magical storm? "A strange night," Jade mused to herself, "a strange night indeed."

Having disgarded her white robe in her pack, Jade was dressed simply in black leather pants, black boots, and a short-sleeved white cotton shirt. Around her neck hung her pendant of Solinari. Jade's unruly hair had been tied back, but as she bent over her meal once more, a lone curl escaped it's bonds.

As the door to the Inn opened a few minutes later, Jade spied a young woman and her wolf-dog companion. Interesting night indeed Jade thought again as she glanced at the girl. She had sharp eyes that seemed to be searching for something, somehow on guard. I know how she feels the Mage thought to herself with a sigh as she pushed her hair out of her face. It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

OOC: If you would like this character's info here it is
Name: Maginathas Aspenbreeze
Race: Qualinesti Elf (Silver dragon but doesn't remember)
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Sapphire Blue
Age: 114 looks to be around 22/23 as a human
Class: White Robe
Level: (D&D Terms) 6 (ECL 31 (dragon/mage))
Gear: Staff of the Woodland and a Dagger +2 plus various scrolls
About Maginathas: He is from one of the lesser noble families of Qualinesti. The family happens to be dragons which have lived with the Elves for years. He has remained in Elven form for so long that he has forgotten his idenity as a dragon. He is often a worrier and often doubts himself and his abilities as a wizard.

IC: The young mage looks to the north. He can see in the far far distance a great storm. A shiver goes down his spine. He know what he's doing and he's starting to regret it.

"Why did I volunteer to go investigate this storm. How stupid of you, Maginathas Aspenbreeze." He says as he scolds himself and looks up at the sky and stares at Solinari which shines down upon him brightly, "What am I doing? I should be sitting next to hearth in my room and be studying my books and stuff, but here I am, walking alone in the wilderness heading north towards some kind of magical storm or something. Oh well, it was my choice."

He grasps his staff and then stands. Grabbing his gear he heads back on the road, moving into the forest of Qualinesti itself. He walks with no trace left behinf him thanks to his staff. He doesn't need any arrows being fired at him, no matter weither or not they are from his brethren.

After a few days of traveling, he arrives in Solice. He stays there for the night and to buy himself a horse, which he was over charged for. He leaves promptly after resuppling and continues his journey north.

OOC: Ok, here comes yer bad guy!! not much, but he can be improved upon if need be.

IC:

A frown darkend his brow as he sat on yonder hill, cross legged and chin in hand. " Now isn't that interesting......", he had watched as the Storm whipped up, nothing of his doing, the taint and stench of Arcane whispering in the winds. But his frown did not lessen even as the sky soothed, and the thunder receeded. "Little bitch I must say. She thinks to undo what I have done. By all that is Old..... mind you, a tricky spell that must have been. Alas, the young, they never hearken to the Words of the Wise."

The boy stood, barely thirteen if he was that. Dressed in a short, sky blue tunic that came to just his knees, the silver hemming sparkling in the sun now. Light blonde hair was cropped and oiled, in small circles did it cling to his head. A circlet of silver, shaped as leaves intertwined adorned his head, as did the bands of silver around his wrists and waist, he went barefooted. He had many names, none known to any now, save the few Learned. Black Child, Son of Woe, Sorrow's Spawn...... the list was endless. And as ever, the face of innocence also beamed, sun kissed and full of life.

He chuckled. "Little people, never will they understand. I try and try to educate them in the proper way.... but no, they have their Gods, their cities, their power...what need have they of Our Old Ways." To whom he spoke was unclear, if he spoke to any save his own mind. To those mortals and immortals alike, he was Myrid, and to others who knew better, he was Fair Folk. Or half at least, born of corruption, born to corrupt, Birthed to Destroy.

Many a year had it been since one as he had graced the Land....any Land....nothing special about this one. It was a world, ruled by Gods, Immortals, beings whom considered themselves in Power. But he knew better, The Lore was in his mind....it came when needed, and not before, unveiling itself at its own pace.

The Wizard had been trouble. Little had he known was power their lay in the magic they called Arcane Sorcery. A tough opponent if ever there had been, pity though, those of his kind, those that wore such dark attire, would have been great assets if they could have been turned to The Craft, The Secrets of Old. But such was not to be, little had that one believe him, their faith in their God....who was he...Nui something.... it mattered little.

Myrid started walking, skipping almost, merrily down the Hill Side.In life there is torment...

In death there is passion...

06/13/2003 6:27 AM

OOC: A little more indepth info on Myrid. He has a very strong ancient Celtic influence to him in appearence and character. The Old Ways he talks of are the magicks and rituals once practiced by the Druids of Stonehenge, often considered as Witch Craft and the likes, and the Old Gods of celtic legend. In essence it is basically the secrets and knowledge of earth, air, fire and water, and how to use them. He is described as Fair Folk, those who are everlasting, some may say Fae or Otherbeings, but the closest thing would probably be an immortal elf, without the pointy ears.

Now, Myrid is somewhat different, he was born from a Fae mother, but the seed planted in her was desolation and suffering, from The Evil. Whatever that may have been. As such, Myrid is split in twain, the evil of his fathers seed runs deep in him, and holds dominion, however their is the Fair Folk's influence, in that deep within his psyche, unknown even to him, a 'good' side lies. He does not have a split personality, however, this 'good' in him will have a part in his development and progression through the story.

His purpose is to simply reap havoc and death where ever he may go. Kyrnn was the unlikely target, and as such, this is how he came to be. Though being but a Child, Myrid is very, very Old, in power and wisdom, for it is planted in his mind, to surface when needed.

Hope this is ok Kalia, I can change it all if need be. :)In life there is torment...

OOC: yes on both accounts :) though I may change my char's name, or it may become too confusing between my char and yours Luni. From now on my char's name is gonna be Nimue( For those who don't know the name, it's pronounced Nim-ooh-A) ;) just to fit in with Martin's story-play. We'll also say that she does do some magic similar to what Myrid from..but she incorperates it to what she knows (Much like myself....hehe a little "Eclectitc")

BIC: Nimue blinked and smoothed her robes.... and looked up, a dark curl fell into her line of sight and she brushed it away impatiently. Her power had waned with the passing of the storm, and it would remain so till the next day.

"So....at least you're friendly... For a Black Robe..." She said and turned toward the man she had returned to this world.

"Who are you? Why where you still tied to this world?" She asked, her dark violet eyes narrow.

OOC 2: Are the Mages able to sense each others magical pressence?

BICAs the night went on and the storm continued, Jade became more convinced that something very strange was going on. A few days later Maginathas finds himself and his newly bought horse on a ship heading North to Palanthas. While on the ship, he writes about his journey in is diary and studies his spells as well as scribing a few scrolls. He kept to his room much of the time often reading about history or in a book he brought with him about the Inner Planes.

After a few weeks of traveling, he finally arrives in Palanthas. He couldn't wait to get of that boat. He wanted to get to the Great Library right away, but he knew that would have to wait. For now, he needs to go and investigate that storm. For now, he headed into the city for a place to stay for the time being.

He hated Human civilization. He was an untrusted by them, even in times of peace. Of course he was often give odd looks for being a wizard too, a White Robe even. He was often very uncomfortable in areas populated by Humans. His wizard brethren trustd him, why could Humans outside the Conclave trust him too. It wasn't as if he was a theiving kender or one of those disgusting Gully Dwarves or a rude Minotaur, no he was Maginathas a kind young Elven mage who is the son of a minor lord in Quailnost. He couldn't understand it.

He walked through the streets with his hood up and didn't make eye contact with anyone. He kept a close eye on his purse when Kenders were around and began to bug him about tricks. One of them even managed to show him to a mage shop.

Inside the mage shop, he explained his mission and asked for any info he could as to find the storm. After getting what he needed, and spending some steel on components and some higher level scrolls.

Soon after aquiring his information, he heads to his Inn and calls it a night, only to head to the location in the morning.

Finally deciding that she couldn't just sit on her butt while things were happening around her, Jade walked to the bar and left a few coins for her half-eaten dinner. Than going upstairs to her room, she sat down as she lifted the pack that held her books onto the bed. Pulling book after book out of the bag, the White Robe sighed to herself. It had been three weeks since she had arrived in the village, and she had yet to find somewhere even semi-permenant to stay while she was here.

Grinning as she finally found the book she had been searching for, Jade laid it on her lap and ran her hand over the cover. As a Mage and somewhat of a historian of the art, books were as much her passion as the magic itself. It was just luck she had purchased this book before she had left Palanthas. Brushing her fingers along the words on the cover, Jade whispered them to herself as she read them:

The Weather and Magic: How One Effects the Other

Standing up to move to the oversized chair that sat by the small fireplace in her room, Jade got comfortable and opened her book. She was curious to find and reasons for the strange storm outside.

"F#%king horse, you threw a shoe again didn't you?" the young man said out loud, to no one in particular. Not that there was anyone to hear him, as he traveled down the forest trail alone, trying to keep ahead of a horrible storm. The night didn't feel right to him, like there was something more going on out there than just a storm...he had had plenty of time to theorize why chills shot up his spine every time he looked upwards at the dark black sky, watching light shimmer through the heavy, rain laden clouds. The wind had gotten worse, even in the trees.
"I know there's a village around here somewhere..." he thought. "I should've just stayed on the road." He traveled like this, for a few more hours until he emerged from the trees within view of the road again, and also within sight of the village. As he guided his weary horse back onto the road, within moments he was drenched to the bone, soaking wet. The rain had started coming down, and at no better time, as his eyes fell upon the local inn.
"I need to get out of this rain before I catch cold." he said outloud.

The inn was a sparce little place with a bar, and a few patrons. Some were reading, eating, and just carrying on. The man approached the counter, and flagged the bartender/owner over. reaching into his bag he removed a few peices of steel and a scroll.

"Good evening sir. Might I oblige you for a room tonight?" The owner told him that there was plenty of rooms, even for such strange weather. "Ah, that's actually what brings me to these parts sir." said the man. "My.... employer... beleives that the storm is being caused by a person, or persons. Have you seen this man?" he asked as he unrolled the scroll. The owner gasped. "Yes sir, many of us have, but it can't be him... he's dead! He's buried in a crypt in the graveyard out past old man Winky's farm. I seen it with me own eyes... this cant be the man you're looking for." The owner shook his head, took his money, and gave him a key. "The room's up the stairs, third door on the left. Have yourself a good evenin sir." and walked back into the kitchen.
"Strange..." he thought, as he sat down at a table, staring at the scroll as he had done countless times before. "This man...dead? I'll have to go check it out in the morning......."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Erin noted the other girl sitting at the table who was finishing her meal and nodded in recognition of a fellow traveler.

Her stomach rumbled perceptibly and she was quick to order a meal from the barkeep. She was soon sitting at a table tucking into her own hot meal and feeding secret pieces of meat to Dagger who lay under the table, when she noted others enter the inn. Some strange and some definitely very strange, but for the moment, she kept to herself.

A lifetime of experience had taught the rogue to be wary of strangers, especially on such a strange night as this. Outside, a fierce storm continued to rage and Erin Fey was not too shy to admit that it confused and worried her somewhat.

“An unexpected turn of the weather” she said, patting Dagger with a stray hand that fed the mongrel another morsel of meat almost absentmindedly. “I’m glad to have found this inn on such a night. I pity any traveler who is still forging against the storm”.

She saw the young man come in, and kept her eyes open. The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Of ships and shoes and sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings.

Jade must have sat and read for a good two hours before she closed her book with a dissatisfied sigh. All the book was able to tell her was what she had already guessed. The effects of a storm such as this was due to a Mage Spell. The question was: what spell and why? And who was the caster? Getting up to tuck the book back in her pack, Jade left the room and locked the door.

Walking back into the common room of the Inn, the White Robe serveyed the room. She saw a number of the same patrons that had been here all evening, the unique girl feedind her wolf-dog bits of food from her plate as she kept an eye on the bar. Following the other girl's gaze, Jade saw a new face talking to the bartender. Moving to sit at a table where she could hear the conversation without openly evesdropping, Jade listened to an exchange about the storm. Apparently the one who was believed to have caused this storm was supposed to be dead. There are only two explanations for this the firey-haired Jad thought to herself, either the culprit is dead and this man was mistaken....or the one he's looking for isn't dead anymore!. Being a Mage, Jade Firemane knew all to well that sometimes when a person was dead, they didn't always stay that way.

The male investigator wouldn't be the only one whecking out the area of the crypt tomorrow. She had to know what was going on!It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

A few of the mothers and other women made comments on how adorable he looked, what with his tunic and cropped hair.....his mood darkend, but he kept the pretense of a smile, a smile that seemed to make the more nervous and ill at ease with each passing minute. A horse bucked wildly as he passed, eyes wide with fear, lips pulled back to reveal large and strong teeth...again he smiled.

Come out, come out, where-ever you are...little mage....little mage....you need to learn not to meddle in affairs that concern you not., his small laugh, liquid, like water over rocks, rang throughout the town....carried on the winds, ecohing but above a whisper.

But somewhere....deep....dark....within the small chaotic boy, lay another....a mind, troubled, raging against unseen barriers, plagued by desolation, shuddering in fear and hatred....but a boy of thirteen, lost and upset. All he wants is for his mother to make everything alright, but his mother his dead...he killed his mother....no...the other killed her, he had to watch, knowing he hadn't the will to fight them darkness that crashed against him like a wave...In life there is torment...

Hunched over his studies on a small table in the corner of the inn, Palthos was shocked to hear a small voice flowing through his body. It crawled inside him and filled his head with eerie thoughts... it was not a very enjoyable experience.

Palthos had been looking up spells that could have caused this storm. None that he could find seemed to fit. They were either too limited, or not powerful enough. Frustrated, the Red Robe threw his scroll from the table. It did not make any sense. He knew that a white robe several tables away had similar luck in her search.

It had been many years since Palthos had left his home. Now he could not even remember what it had been called. Nor could he remember his own last name. Nothing... all was gone except for flashing green eyes, chanted words of magic, and then a terrible pain in his head...

He was small by human standards, and his eyes were a bright blue. These eyes scanned the room slowly, looking for the source of the mysterious voice. "Two,not more than two."

Jade looked around the small room of the small Inn as she heard a whispered voice. It didn't seem to becoming from inside however, as most of the rooms occupants were either eating, drinking, or chatting together. The White Robe did notice a young Red Robe sitting in the corner, looking rather frustrated. From the look on his face and the way he also scanned the room, it was clear Jade wasn't the only one that had heard the voice. It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

Nimue froze....her eyes wide as she heard the voice. It made her chill in an instant, and she felt the hairs on her arms and on the back of her neck raise up on end. Her silver trimmed red velvet robes shuddered and danced around her slight form as she shivered in the ill wind.

She looked to the black robe she had rescued and then back to the forest.

"Did you hear that?" She whispered, as she felt the nuances of natural magical energy shift their currents...from soft and gentle as a summer breeze to chill and brisk...akin to a winter storm.

Within minutes, hes on his horse riding at full gallop towards the town where the storm was last seen, the gem on his staff lighting the way. He travels across the terrain and to the small town, and there he slows down and heads for the Inn.

He walks inside and scans the crowd. He sees some mages inside, and the first one he happens to see is a fellow White Robe. He walks up to the mage as he brushes off his robes.

Palthos smiled as the mage entered the room. He was about to ask the mage if he had heard the strange voice when he sat at the table with the White Robe and began asking her about the storm.

"What sort of storm is this?" the Red Robe wondered to himself. Maybe he had underestimated the power behind the storm. Maybe he had vastly underestimated it...

The memory of the voice further added to his unease and he continued to look around the room, while still listening to what the newcomer... Magin-something had to say.

Jade smiled as she listened to the White Robe's hurried speech. As she offered him a seat, she replied, "My name is Jade Firemane. I'm a Historian of sorts for the order. The appearance of this storm has of course caught my attention. Unfortunately, bother, my findings have been quite limited as of yet." Jade leaned her elbows on the table, wondering how to phrase her next comment, "I have come to the conclusion that someone is causing the storm, but for what reason I don't yet know." Jade dropped her voice to a whisper as ahe continued, "I heard a rumor that the one who is thought to cause this storm has actually been dead for awhile. I plan to check out this inconsistancy in the morning by heading to the graveyard in the morning."

Jade's blue eyes lit up and she nearly giggled at the prospect of the intriguing mystery. It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

Palthos continued to gain nonchalantly around the room, listening to the conversation between the two White Robes. He was intrigued to determine what kind of information they had uncovered about the storm. As he listened, he was surprised to hear what the female say that the person who had caused this storm is dead...

Palthos wondered whether all of this had anything to do with the mysterious voice he had heard earlier. "Two,not more than two."

Continuing to keep her voice low, Jade continued to fill in her White Robe Brother on what little she had heard.

"I'm not sure how it all fits, but the way I see it - if this guy is really dead, than obviously the storm has nothing to do with him. But if that crypt is empty, than there's even more of a mystery! Personally, I can't wait to find out what's going on, either way. I live for stuff like this."

With a smile that lit up her face, Jade sat back and sipped the white wine she had ordered while skulking for information. Taking another sip, she watched her white robe companion for a second over her glass. Setting it down after a minute, she then asks, " So Brother Maginathas, where do you hale from?"It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

OOC:Wow, I kinda opened up the story prospects a little, didn't I? Hey if Seph X doesnt come back I'll run the unnamed male mage if that's cool?

BIC:The young man sat at his table, eyeing his scroll for a few minutes, contemplating, until he finally put it away. Instead, he decided to order food, as his stomach was aching. Now his problem (besides an apparent streak of indesicion ;)) was what to eat. While he sat there quietly, he watched the white-robed man come striding in and begin conversation with another white-robed woman. A thought slowly drifted into his head.......

"Wait a minute......this storm is supposedly magical.....and there's been a hell of a lot of mages in this area all of a sudden....it's like they're just coming out of the woodworks...."

He eyed the girl in the corner, feeding her dog.

"She don't look like a mage....and she's kinda cute... focus... focus... you're on the job now. Leave pleasures for after you get payed..."

His eyes then shifted back to the pair of white-robes.

"I wonder if they're here about this storm too....."

He really didnt care. He was there to do his job, and leave andget payed. Simple as that. He cared not about magic or sorcery or anything else. He was a simple man. He liked it that way. Short, wavy brown hair and blue eyes only seemed to add to the contours of a strong masculine jaw, framing a smile with straight teeth, he considered himself good looking, but not handsome, or gorgeous or any of those fancy words women loved to use these days. He dressed simple, so as to not draw to much attention to himself- a brown traveling cloak, modified to include sleeves (think trench-coat) covered a padded leather vest, hints of steal knives could be made out in bandoliers crossing his chest if you watched him long enough. Gloves covered strong hands, calloused from years of hard work, strengthened through training, their aim dead on. He was masculine, but not a hulking beast, or a lithe acrobat.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Erin Fey had finished her meal a long time ago, and had spent the hours eavesdropping into the conversations of others while Dagger snoozed under the table, his hunger sated for the moment.

Eavesdropping was something she did out of habit. You never knew when or where you were going to hear something useful, but she was covert about it.

She nibbled on her hair, the mane of tawny streaks of soft browns and gold shimmering in the firelight. Her light yellowish-brown eyes roved the room, speculating at the characters who sat at the various tables, only guessing at their purpose. So many mages? Why, she wondered. Why here? Why now?

She had a nose for trouble and it was now twitching furiously at he thought of this phantom mage who …if rumor were true…had been risen from the grave! Her heart skipped a beat.

Two years ago, shortly after her fourteenth birthday, her father had been murdered and her life had irrevocably changed.

…Back from the dead…she wondered who could posses such power and wondered what it would take to make them use that power for her own purpose.

‘Everyone has a hidden agenda’, her father had used to say. ‘You just need to find out what it is’.

She rose from her chair and went to the table where the red robe and the white were in deep discussion.

“Forgive my intrusion learned scholars,” she said with a winsome smile and a courtly bow. “My name is Erin Fey and I am new to this town. I happened to overhear some of your talk and I would appease my curiosity and my concern with any information you might wish to share with me”.

She was too young to be of any real harm at sixteen years of age, surely? She hoped that was how the mind of the three magi would work. And she could be of use. A rogue always came in hand where danger lurked.

My mother wanted me to settle down with the oldest son of one of her friends, have children, and take my "proper place in society". But it wasn't for me. Answering Maginathas's question, Jade replied, "No, my parents haven't disowned me. Going that far would cause to much social distress for my mother.

I don't know why, who, or how, but I think the appearance of this storm has something to do with that "dead"

Palthos stared dumbfounded at the young boy as he spoke. His tone was eloquent, somehow smoother than any child he had heard before. His demeanor was also calm, reserved and there was something in his voice rang of a wisdom beyond his years. Almost as though this child was a shell for something much stronger, much less innocent than the facade it wore.

Seeing as the two White Robes (Jade? Magiwhatsit?) were engaging the child, and that it seemed not to have noticed him, Palthos shrank back into his robes, whispering soft words of magic, performing a simple incantation. The words rolled off his tongue, lost in the sounds of the inn. He made small gestures above the table, swirling his hands in a pattern, and tracing out an imaginary circle around the corner of the inn. As he did so, shadows seemed to gather in the corner of the inn, almost imperceptably, and his red robes faded to a dull brown. His spell components disappeared, becoming instead the packs of a weary traveller. His spell complete, Palthos looked at the child, feeling suddenly chilled by something in the eyes of the boy.

Palthos shrank back in his robes, almost involuntarily. He dared not speak another word, lest he draw the boy's attention. Silently, he watched the interaction between the White Robes and the enigmatic child.Everything you've learned in school as obvious becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. OOC: Im so sorry guys my computer decided to have a heart attack thursday night. I finally got everything working on it again. Now I'm way behind.

BIC/OOC: wellllllll ...... maybe Im not that far behind...hes just been sitting there eating food that he ordered. Watching the mages and the young girl talk, eavesdropping slightly, interested that others knew of this "theory of a dead man". The little boy throws him off, and sends a chill down his spine, but nothing more. He decides that he needs to head out towards the crypt tonight, instead of in the morning, for fear that that might be too late. He finishes his food and goes upstairs to his room. He locks the door and then sneaks out the window, heading through the shadows towards the graveyard.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The door had ripped open as he proceeded to it, storming across the threshold, Myrid stepped out side, a foul mood covering him. Worthless mages, they know nothing....as usual..., he need not remind himself that he also never knew where the person responsible for the storm...a fact that he shrugged off.

Nimue nodded and gestured to the building behind them. "That was your home... I was offered it when I came this way... But..." she paused and turned back to the heart of the Villiage.

"Something calls me to the Villiage......" She said softly, brushing her dark hair away from her grey-blue eyes.

Seeing the White Robes and their companions leaving, Palthos stood up, careful to make sure that his illusion was mobile. Once he verified this, he rose from his seat, and began to follow them outside, his head bowed. He made sure to follow near enough to hear their conversations, but distant enough that they would not notice him. At least, he hoped so.

He wondered about the child as he heard Maginathus speak of an intense magical aura surrounding him. This made his suspicions darken, but he still felt a great relief in knowing that the child was gone, and he would never feel that intense fear that he rarely felt ever again.

Once the magi were outside, he dropped his illusion and hurried to keep up with them, looking forward to finding out what exactly had caused this storm.Everything you've learned in school as obvious becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. Seeing the male mage detect him, Palthos quickly rushed up to catch up with the group. Perhaps there would be some form of safety in numbers, he thought. Maybe together we can solve the mystery of this storm and of the strange child together better than any one of them could.

"Thank you, Maginathus, for waiting for me. I am Pathos of the Red Robes," said Palthos looking at the elven White Robe intently. "And hello to you as well, Jade," he added, gazing at the other, "I must confess that I overheard your conversation, and that is why I follow. No need to mention the child or the illusion spell that he had cast, Palthos thought. Surely the white robe knew, being skilled at casting silent spells. He most likely knew the magics that Palthos had worked anyway.

He then looked at their companion. "I don't believe I know your name. " Know this Mortal, I am Myrid, Son of Sorrow. Your World and its pathetic excuse for a Patheon of Gods will lay in waste before it is time for me to depart.....starting with you! While this was going on, Maginthas was sprinkling some sliver powder around the area Myrid was in, and finishing it in an incantation. Finishing his Magic Circle against Evil spell, the silver circle glows as he says the last words, as the spell goes to work.

"Myrid, you can't leave the circle. I have bound you there. I only wish for answers and do not wish to hurt you. What is it that you seek here? Why is it that you wish to lay this world in waste? For what reason is it that you have. If you are not from this world, then you have no right to distroy this world, for it is not your home. If you claim for this to be your home, then you will have to face all those who wish to protect this world we call home."

Light exploded from him, impacting with the binding ring that encircled him, it pushed against the barrier, Myrid's frown deepend as he attempted to break free, lightning still flashed, the wind moaned......rain fell and thunder clapped wildly.....

....but somewhere, within, a darkness stirred. A cloud of black, darker than midnight, toiled and rolled around the being at its centre. A shaft of light, barely noticable, struck through the darkness, casting a dim glow on the cloud. "Forget negotiation," mumble Palthos to himself, setting down the crystal that illuminated the clearing. He reached into his spell component bag and touched a pale blue orb that rested there. It was cold to the touch, and his flesh stuck to it, turning his hand as white as snow. Within, tiny motes of light swirled as energy began to move through them, increasing the intensity of their light.

Focusing all of his energy on Myrid, Palthos prepared his mind for what it was about to endure. As he did, he saw the man who had been holding Myrid become the victim of another spell. Setting his feet tight on the ground, he opened his mind to the orb.

Instantly, his mind was filled with cold and wind. His skin became lined with frost, and the temperature around him began to drop. Palthos pushed against the orb, knowing what would happen should he fail. Feeling the tide of wind and cold threatening to overwhelm him, Palthos focused all of his mental energy into a wedge, driving it against the wind within his soul. At last, the storm abated.

Focusing on Myrid intently once more, Palthos began chanting words of magic and making an odd sign in the air with his free hand.Everything you've learned in school as obvious becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. Black energy swirled about his hands, purple lightning dancing gracefully over it.

The words flowed past his lips faster than he had intended, and he hoped the magic worked nonetheless. Pointing his gesturing hand at Myrid, Palthos sent his spell at his small form.

An aurora of light sped past his fingers, as cold as the upper atmosphere. Slivers of ice formed along the beam as it splintered into sheets of pure light, all headed towards Myrid. The energy hummed as it flowed through the air, with a soft sound of tinkling as the ice crystals crashed into one another.

Exhausted from his spell, Palthos raised a small shield before himself, hoping that Jade, Maginathus, and the newcomer could conjure something in the event that his magic was not complete.Everything you've learned in school as obvious becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. Nimue was almost too astonished to speak....but when the child demanded the one who had returned the black robe to life, she paled...

"What are you?" she asked softly, and it seemed that even the storm stilled at her words....

Nimue felt odd, as though she had known this boy for a long time...but she couldn't remember... She stared at her hand again, and was again puzzled by the spell she had cast...she hadn't said a word, nor used any componants....

She noticed Edric's movements. "NO! dont!" she cried and again held out her hand...though no silver light appeared, the man did seem to be unable to move his hand wtih the dagger.

"He did nothing to you...what he did was in retaliation...." She said to Edric and then she focused on Myrid.

"I was the one who ressurected the Black Robe, he was still tied to this world.... and I wanted to unravel the mystery of his death...." She said, her grey eyes cool, her robes rustled in the wind as the storm was again able to be heard over her voice....

Jade listened to the conversation around her, head nearly spinning with all she heard. Myrid had killed the Black Robe? Nimue had resurected the same Black Robe? Had it been her spell that had caused the initial storm on this night? And who was this Myrid exactly - he was obviously more than he had seemed at first. And why did Edric seem intent on killing him?

To many questions. To few answers.

While the war of the mages raged over head, the rogue had slipped by the group, unnotticed, for all eyes were fastened on to the strange boy with the death wish.

Erin's fingers had been itching to explore the dead mage's house and as she crawle din through an open window, she was immediately assaulted by a thick and cloying feeling of depression and sorrow.

"Strange house", the girl whispered to Dagger, "...but what can one expect from a black robe". Erin felt as if she were searching the house for hours, but in truth it was only for a few moments, and though she found some very inetresting artifacts, she had yet to find what she sought.

Her search was interrupted at times by shouting from the battle outside, interspersed with brigth flashes of light as yet another spell was unleashed.

A wide grin split across her face as her eyes finally alighted on the spell book. It was arpped in black leather and seemed to pulse with an energy of its own.

"Bingo!" said Erin, before quickly stashing the book into her rusksack. "Jake the snake will give us a good sum of coins for this particular book. It was specially ordered by some rich client in Palanthus. Come on Dagg, let's out of here pronto before someone decides to call on us".

Fear filled Palthos for the first time in the battle when the energy of Myrid forced him away. Like there was a hand against his form, he was kept away, and indeed it looked as though all of this was MYrid's doing...

Palthos took a step back and shivered. The power that Myrid wielded was beyond all comprehension. The only one who had done anything to upset him in the slightest was the newcomer. Even her actions, however, seemd somehow accidental.

Looking around, Palthos saw that Erin was missing. Where had she gone to, he wondered. The house. Of course, he realized suddenly with a chuckle.

Determined to see if the force holding him back also held spells, he shot a magic missile at Myrid, who was preoccupied with the mysterious lady wizard.Everything you've learned in school as obvious becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. Nimue paled and took a step back, fear evident in her grey eyes. "I don't understand what you mean..." She gasped shaking her head. "M-my name is Nimue... I've always been able to do such things...but never this strongly...." She stammered as she stared at the child in fear.

Retreiving her ass from the window, Erin slyly worked her way back to the edge of the glade where the wizard's duel was in full swing. She shared a look with Dagger that clearly said- "Ha! Magic-users! They always like to complicate things with fancy spells and strange objects. Give me a throwing dagger any day of the week". She was obvioulsy a gal who liked the direct approach.

"Well Dagg, we have a choice- we can either stick our noses in ...again or try and find Jake the Snake before he closes shop". Her tone indicated which option she would have far preferred. There was a tidy profit to be made from the spell book.

Dagger looked at Erin with puppy dog eyes- that is to say, as far as a fearsome animal with mangy fur that was part dog/part wolf could.

"You always were a sucker for a damsel in distress" the young girl huffed at her dog before she stepped forward into the clearing and gave a friendly wave to all present.

"Hey y'all! So what d'I miss?", she asked bald faced as she secretly slid one of her jetwing daggers from her back-pack, preparing to send it flying at the scary boy's unprotected backside. The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Nimue stared at the boy, and her fear threatened to overtake her. She didn't know who he was, but how did he know of the strange power she had possessed from birth.

Don't let anyone attempt to harm him... He is your enemy, and he would retaliate with deadly results... Our magics and theirs do not mix well, nor do they sheild well from each other....

came a soft voice that soothed some of Nimue's fears, as though she had known the owner of this voice all her life.... Her grey eyes unfocused and a light shimmered infront of her... (note: no one else can see this save perhaps myrid)

Do not fear, my child... all will be unraveled in time.... the voice said softly, the light did not dimm, but Nimue could make out a faint shape within it, long hair and diaphonous cloth moving in a light, gentle breeze....

Her eyes focused abruptly and she swayed on her feet....

Seeing that Palthos was getting ready to launch a magic missile at the distracted boy, Jade took up an attack beside her new Red Robe friend. manuevering herself as to not hit any of her other comanions, Jade launched a volley of fireballs in Myrid's direction. It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

"What have I gotten myself into?" he asked himself. "I was only supposed to see if he was alive, and bring him home, not get tangled in a mages quarrel." It was then that he realized something... If Alyx was truly alive, where was he?

"The crypt." he realized. "I have to get into that crypt. The boy is determined to kill Alyx...AGAIN...I can't let that happen." he thought as he got up and began heading stealthly towards the crypt.

The effects of having stopped her Fireball Spell in mid-preparation, along with whatever effect Myrid was having on the area sent Jade toppling to the ground again. As Maginathas leaned a hand to help her stand, Jade accepted it with a grateful smile and stood up, brushed off her robes and pushed her red curls out of her face. Seeing the black robe now too, Jade stayed at Maginathas side and helped the others up. Jade too watched the scene warily.

ooc: does anybody else have the feeling that if we wait for Sephy to propel this story forward that Eswiftfire will "take over" for all of us so to speak...;)?

Edric watched with wide eyes as Alyx came into the glade, and began to confront his brother.

"At least he remembers a little." he thought. Edric decided that now was a good time to make his intentions clear. he began to approach the mages.

"Ummm....hey. I hope you guys can kinda forgive me, the heat of the moment and all, for not introducing mself, I didn't know if you were in fact friend or foe." he said to the mages. "My name is Edric Thrallwood. I was hired by....well, Alyx's father, to find his son. Apparently the whole family is a bunch of black robes. Somehow... I guess he knew, or anticipated, expected, whatever the word is that I'm looking for. He payed me to find out if his son was still alive, or in this case, alive... again, and if so, to KEEP him alive at all costs, and bring him to his father."

He paused to let the story sink into their minds, as he had rambled it off rather quickly. "I imagine I looked a little brutal trying to kill the little man over there, but what you guys don't realize is that he is the one who killed Alyx the first time. He's not a little boy anymore, that was what he looked like years ago when Alyx died." he explained hastily.

"Now he is nothing but a dark souled husk of what he used to be. His only intent now is to make sure Alyx stays dead, but why...I have no idea. But this much you can be sure of- if you are on Alyx's side, we are allies in the same cause, though as for this strange girl.... your guess is as good as mine. I only wish I knew the spell I need to banish him from this world," Maginathas says has his hand goes back to the spell componets in his pocket.

Maginathas's eyes move to Edric.

"I am Maginathas of Qualinost, Order of the White Robes. Now you say that this Alyx was killed by Myrid and that he wants him dead? I wonder why it is he killed him and why he wants him dead still," he says and then looks over at Nimue, "That lady over there, do you know her Jade? She where's your orders robes. Why is it that she resurrected Alyx? Is she the reason for the reason for the storm? If she is, I must report this to the Conclave, but I want to get facts straight."

A strange feeling at come over Maginathas since he had met Myrid. When others felt fear, he felt bold. It seemed as if his senses had increased four times that of normal. He seemed stronger. His voice was but a whisper, like the rustling of leaves over an autumn ground. " Nimue... ", something stalked in his eyes, thought, anger, fear, mistrust, envy.....compassion.... then all was lost as the darkness took over, clouding heart and soul from the light of existence. He turned to the missile that was thrown in his direction, and batted it away with the back of his hand. " You would do well to heed her warnings, Mortals.", again his attention was fixed on Nimue, his weighing eyes trying to perceive what weaknesses could be exposed. " The Lady seems to have chosen some sort of saviour....interesting, but the Bitch never could keep her nose out of other people's buisness, especially when it is not of her world. But like all things, I shall crush what power of mind and body you have like it where no more than a blossoming rose. "

The thunder came again, rendering winds that chaffed the skin as the build in speed and strength. " Know this Nimue....... Queen Mab, Daughter of Death, does not look kindly upon interfering wench's, nor do I! The Lady has acted to late; there is little you can do to halt my advance, what Fae power you have is hardly trained, whereas I have the knowledge of Eons. "

Something within cried. He held out his hands of help, for release, constantly calling, constantly hoping. A hope that is smothered by darkness and desolation. By The Lady, help me......help...., what more could he do, the slight figure of a Lad, locked away within an eternal night from which none have ever escaped....for how can one escape their own mind, heart and soul.....

Erin gave a big yawn and woke up from her nap. Dagger was staring at her as if to say "We're having a crisis here and you take a nap?". Erin simple grinned and then got down to work.

Erin picked up her dagger and played with the pointed egde, careful not to draw blood, her mind deep in thought. The reference to Queen Mab had thrown her. When the boy had referred to the 'Queen' she had assumed he had been talking about Tarkhisis. Now Mab was another set of rules altogether. And another set of legends.

From her backpack she withdrew an old and crumpled looking storybook. She opnened the book to a familiar page from another time and place...an faraway time, when life had been simpler and far less complicated.

"How wonderful is Death, Death, and his brother Sleep!" she read out to the others.

She frowned. Some how she felt as if she were on the verge of solving a riddle. A very puzzling, very intriguing riddle.

"Death has a brother called Sleep!" she shouted to the others. The horror of one solution numbed her.

"The two boys... Are they brothers?".

Could the answer be that simple, and that horrific?

As she stood near where Maginathas was questioning Nimue, Jade turned to where Erin had woken up and was now making that exclamation. As Erin spoke, Jade could see she was holding an old-looking book. Not reconizing the passage that the young rogue was reading and not being able to see the title of the book from this angle, the White Robe wrinkled her nose in confusion and thought.

no....no...stop him...help me...Lady help.... the endless cries drifted into darkness, would no one hear him, could the Fae touched not listen. Was the darkness that clogged him, bound him, that powerful as to eclipse the Light forever, would he never set his eyes on Fair Avalon again? Might and power swelled as fear drew close. Using her acrobatic skills, she launched herself into the air, and excuting a perfect swan dive, managed to pull the woman out of harm's way.

She was on her feet at once, a silver dagger in her hand, the story book in the other.

"Try that again" she challanged, her eyes glittering. Somebody ought to teach that punk a lesson in manners, she thought.

"No, don't!" Jade sprang to action as the green lightening streaked toward the three Mages, targeting the Red Robe woman in the center. Only kidding, but seriously, Seph: You need to make your posts clearer. I tried to read the last one and I think I have brain damage now.

Erin's grip on the blade tightened.

"There are questions and yet no one answers. They speak in riddles to confuse and befuddle the mind". Her golden eyes went to each member of the group, assessing and weighing up each character in turn.

"Who here has the answer?" she asked. "Who here has the right answer", she corrected with a wry smile. The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Of ships and shoes and sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings.

He gritted his teeth, eyes spitting rage. " You may use the Old Magic..... but how much do you truely know of it?! How could one such as you, a mere mortal ever comprehend the full power that is at the fingertips of those with The Craft?! ", he stepped foward, his eyes staying on Nimue, never leaving, holding her to his gaze. " I will not be undermined by the likes of you! The Lady of The Lake may follow my Queen and her sister where ever she likes, but know that the ire of Mab, and my own, is a wrath the likes of which even she will come to fear!"

His last words had deepend, he drew himself up, which for his small stature was a wonder in itself. The voice of a child disappeared, death now spoke in words, the essence of rage, chaos and darkness spat forth. " We shall meet again soon Nimue of the Lady! And you shall rue such a time as no mortal has ever before you!", with that, he was gone, he was wind and lightning, cloud and darkness as he drifted to the air.....In life there is torment...

I just want to get to the bottom of this so I can return to the Conclave, file my report and then return to my studies," Maginathas says in a steam, "and with all this Queen Mab stuff, it's only getting more confusing. Will someone just simply explain whats going on here without trying to kill each other!"

The frustrated mage yells as throws his hands up into the air.

Jade laid a calming hand on the shoulder of the Quainesti elf. With a gentle and concerned smile that settled in her dark blue eyes, she spokke to the group "I know this situation is confusing, but letting our anger and frustration take over. He'll kill all of us too! We need to get rid of him!"

You seemed rather spooked when I said I was from the conclave and I would like to know why that is. Anyways, we should all meet back at the here in town for I still need to get my horse," the elven mage says as he starts towards town, but just to be safe, he silently casts a spell of mage armor upon himself just incase of some hidden attacker. After going a dozen feet, he stops and looks towards Jade.

"Coming, perhaps it would be wise to travel together sister mage."

"Coming, perhaps it would be wise to travel together sister mage."

Jade nodded in agreement and she quickly turned to bid the others a quick goodbye, saying that they would return was they each got their things. Then she caught up with Maginathas.

"I think this trip will be good," she commented to elf elf as they walked, "I have a good feeling that once we get back to Palanthas, we'll find what we're looking for." Silently Jade realized that mayhaps the reason she was putting such a good spin on the quest was because the quest was the good good thing about returning to her home city. Jade was an excellent Mage and Historian, but every time she was in the presence of General and Lady Firemane, the woman was always resorted to a stuttering child.

As she walked alongside the elven White Robe, she smiled to herself as she just some hair out of her eyes again. She would not let her parents spoil things for her. This quest was confusing, intrigueing, a true mystery that the adventerious woman thrived on. Good or bad, Jade couldn't wait to see where their journey took the group next! It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

I need to do some reseach on a couple spells that I am hopping will work against Myrid if he comes back, " He says with a pause and then continues, "I was ready to use a lightning bolt spell of my own if it came to it. I prefer defensive spells or sleep and charm spells because they don't effect other elves, but you aren't elves and Myrid's magic resistance seems to be rather strong, so I have to use a few more offensive spells."

Palthos smiled as the mages argued about how they would learn about Queen Mab. Of course he would go... nobody would give up an adventure like this.

"I'm going too," he said with finality. "I mean, why not? Its not like I have anything better to do."Everything you've learned in school as obvious becomes less and less obvious as you begin to study the universe. He stood on the Hill. Watching below him, a village....small, isolated.... small children, few older than himself, ran through the tall grass surrounding it, their laughter carrying high into the air. His face was ice, expressionless, letting nothing away. Myrid rose both arms high above his head, light flashed, thunder peaned. Screams ripped through the air as he chanted chain-words, linking, calling, binding, willing...... destroying. Fire and lighting raked forth, he braced himself against the force and heat, his blonde, tight curls stirred relentlessly.

Bodies lay torn open, blood spilled freely across the dusty road that led through the village. His breath came in sharp gasps, his was the only sound amongst the silence, save for the crackling of burning wood, and the soft moan of the wind as it carried the sent of death across the air. " For you my Fae Queen..... ", blood dripped from his mouth, a small hand rose to catch the first drop. Myrid stared at it, wide eyed. What be this....., but he shrugged the thought off. Other places waited, and he tired already.

Jade chuckled at how silly it must have sounded to train a horse that well, "She's more like a friend to me than a mere horse."

"I'm just going to grab my stuff quickly...meet you in the Inn, k?" she asked her two Mage friends. Quickly slipping inside the open door of the Inn, Jade quickly made her way upstairs and into her room. Packing the various clothes, books, components, and personal items, the spirited Historian closed the last bag and left the room. you do now...

out of the morning mist, a figure moved. Ghostly pale, the horse that moved towards them seemed to be made of the mists itself. The stallion walked slowly to Nimue's side, and wickered softly as he nuzzled her shoulder.

Nimue looked into it's pale, silvery eyes and smiled. then she turned to the Inn... "Riding in these robes is a bit cumbersome... excuse me for one moment. She ran up to the room she was using, for she had refused to use the home they offered till she was sure it was safe. there she removed her velvet robes, and folded them into her pack. she wore a pair of dark brown breeches, soft leather riding boots, and a red tunic, her spell componants held on the belt at her waist.

She ran her hands through her dark hair and smiled... that would do...

She returned, dressed easily for travel, the slightly longer than usual red tunic marked her as a mage, her pack with it's meager belongings secured on Ghosts's saddle. The stallion stood still as she climbed up into the saddle, then walked easily towards the others...

Traveling with a black robe was not something Maginathas looked forward to, which was probablly his reason for wanting to be be the scout besides the fact that his elven eyes could see much better than human eyes in the dark. At times it seemed as if he could sence everything around him.

Even since he had come to this town he has felt strange, ever since he had met up with Myrid. He felt something strange about himself. He had been having thoughts of dragons, and he seemed to be one of them. He couldn't figure out what was going on. Why was he thinking this maybe Jade could help.

OOC: I think the theory is that when someone casts dispel magic on something magical, and they cannot break it, it becomes obvcious that the said item/person is enchanted by a higher power. So casting it on him will only prover that there is a powerful spell on Maginthas.

Alyx and Edric neared the group. Edric was in the back, a knife held ready, and Alyx looked PISSED.

"It's gone! My spellbook is gone! Some dirty @#$%&!ing son of a Draconian's @#%$@#^!& stole my friggin' spellbook!" Edric had to fight hard to retain a chuckle. In his other hand he led two horses, his dark stallion Penmar, and another, a bay roan.

"I swear to the gods, I am gonna kick whoever's ass stole my book!" The sight of an enraged mage would usually send most people packing, but in this case, he only came across as humorous, his mind now clearing, he was making more sense in his talk, begining to express base emotions easier, and his dexterity was returning. His problem was still that he could not remember many things, such as his past, or his family, or even his old friends.

Finally joining the group, he seemed to calm down slightly. "Hi guys..." he said shaking his head, a shiver running up his side....a sliver of a memory forgotten, those words.... an image, blurry, vague, clawing at his mind, wanting to be remembered. He stares into space for a moment, as though totally unaware of those around him. Snapping back in suddenly, he looks around, embarrassed.

"I...I...I'm sorry guys," he says, looking down a rubbing his temples with his palms "I can't concentrate on anything...my head starts to hurt, like I'm trying really hard to remember something, as though looking back on a dream from the previous night...It's there, I just can't find it..."

Emotionally unstable is an adequate term to describe someone who was just brought back to life and can't remember anything. Alyx, clearly unstable, begins to cry and looks away, fear of being shunned causing him to hide the pain...another sliver...of another memory...afraid to cry...what was it...? He begins to stare at nothing again, lost in the terrain of his mind, oblivious to those around him.

"He's been like this all the way back from his house," Edric says to the group. "He needs answers, some I can't give, some I won't give. I'm not sure how reliable he will be until his mind starts working properly. Right now he's not very...stable I guess. He could just go into a trance when we need him, or break down a nd start to cry at the wrong moment. Just a warning, something we should look out for."

And then, as an afterthought, he said "I don't even want to imagine him casting magic..."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The White Robe female was intrigued by what Maginathas had told her, so when he asked her to cast a Dispell on him, she nodded. Giving Silvercloud a pat and grabbing a component out of one of her packs. She hopped of the horses back to the ground.

OOC: How do you want this done? Are you going to cast a spell on me and you want me to break it...or what?

OOC: He wants to see if there is somesort of enchantment on him and he has a theory right now as to why some of Myrid's magic didn't effect him and why he's been having these thoughts and he thinks if it was a spell put on him to keep him in that form, then maybe it can be broken.

Pestilence was his trail. Ravens and other carrion fed on the diseased and fallen corpses that littered the ground at his feet, blood and flesh decorating the wooden walls of homes and carts. Beasts and livestock fell where they stood. Darkness gathered, thunder clouds threatend the peacefulness of the skies, but held back at his command. Myrid knelt down next to a body and raised the head of a small child, barely six years old, if even that. His own child-like hand, un-did the small buttoned shirt, already torn by wind and flame.

He placed a hand on the bare chest, feeling nothing but death, and with careful caution, dug in nails into flesh, releasing dead blood. The rite required this..... his hand dug in deeper, groping around in the small chest, bone snapped as he ripped aside the rib cage, pulling at something beyond.

When his hand came free, the tiny fist size heart, blood and gut dripping swiftly, came free aswell. A soft smile cross Myrid lips as he stood and walked into the distance. " We shall see what this world shall make of my Queen, the Black Robe is no longer of concern, they know us, fear us, hate us.... everything that is needed.... "

An orb of glowing green hung around his neck, the silent screams of dozens swirled in its mists....In life there is torment...

In death there is passion...

and In chocolate there is yummy badness...

Erin's ears were burning at this point. She swept Tumbleweed behind Jade's larger horse and began to study her nails, trying to look innocuous.

Dagger returned from his forage and Erin's golden gaze quickly swept to her wolf-dof. Dagger sniifed the ground and then collapsed onto the grass, his tongue lolling from the exertion.

Erin turned to the others.

"Our path lies clear...for the moment" she anounced to the others. She made a mental note to stay out of Alyx's way. The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Of ships and shoes and sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings.

OOC: Oh okay. Easier than I thought. :D

BIC: Jade took a few minutes to prepare the dispel spell that she chose in order to see if Maginathas had something cast upon him. If he did, his aura would shine yellow, if not than it would shine white.

She cat the spell on the elven White Robe, and when his aura came up white she shook her head. "Sorry my friend, but I can't see anything that has been cast on you. If you do have something protecting you, it must be natural."It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

"Hmmm... I have something for you," he says as he pulls a scroll out a scroll case. "This is a true seeing spell, if if you are able to cast it. I am not quite powerful enough to cast it. If I am who I am then you will see me, if I am not, then you won't see me."

Maginathas hands over the scroll and hopes that Jade has the energy to cast the spell.

Jade took thescroll with a nod, taking a minute to study it's contents. Looking up back at Maginathas with smile, she said, "I can do it."

Carefully prronouncing each word of the True Seeing Spell, Jade casts it. She she did, the breeze picked up slightly and the air around her White Robe Brother began to shimmer. When the last word of the spell was done, Jade looked up from the scroll. The woman gasped in surprise.

"Ummm...Maginathas? I can't see you anymore!"It's not how much magic you have, it's how you use the magic you have.

Cool! Thought Erin. An invisibility spell woud certainly come in handy in her line of work.

"Um...so how did you do that?" she asked, non-chalantly- giving nothing away. The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Of ships and shoes and sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings.

"What do you see Jade?" Maginathas asks with curiousity and then looks at Erin. "I am still here Erin, it is a spell to see what can not be seen... kinda."

"I now understand, i may only see this because of my order, and the magic i studied but i can see Maginathas there is a dark shadow around you but inside that is a great magical creature not easy to see"he said his rage calming about his book."Maginathas i must tell you that you have been cursed by a great magic greater than mine, greater than any of us here except.." as his words finish he looks over at Nimue."Homer Mad, Homer Smash grrrrr"-Homer Simpson

Nimue caught Alyx's stare and flushed. Epona tossed her head and wickered in what was unmistakable equine laughter. "I wish I knew how to control this power of mine... I don't even know its true origins..." Nimue Said.

Ah... yes, but that is the focal point of this quest is it not youngling? Epona intoned flicking her long white tail.

The Mare snorted and looked at Maginathas. I wouldn't say Cursed... She said casting a quick glance at Alyx. This man is protected for some reason... but that is definitly our magic... who did it or why... I cannot answer....
