OOC: anyone familiar with these areas wann RP? Even those who aren't familiar with the Hillsfar setting

IC:
Cadrel avaided the Red Plume Mercanaries while trying to get to his boat. The sea-farer made a living from sailing across the Moonsea to Phlan.
The sea is dangerous and Cadrel risks his life and boat to go along the shore near Zhentil Keep, which is a quicker way to reach Phlan.
Hiding i his boat he awaits his customers.
~Where the hell are they?~.

Along the path comes a tall, brown hair human. He is dressed in black Leather and has a Bastard Sword strapped on his back. The sickly sweet scent of spell components whaffs around him. An unstable glint in his eyes tells you that his sanity is a bit off.

"Greetings," he bows (his eyes ever alert) "My name is Tenere de Cardiff. And I would require your services. *in a low voice* How soon can we leave?"

Tenere stands, parting his hands wide and smiling.

OOC: ok im new at this ill get better :)

Cadrel looked around then studied the figure.
"Shssh! I do know yet, but come aboard" Cadrel helped the man upon his boat.
"I will await more customers than we shall take off. Until then find some place to hide. If not we make some light conversation and watch out for the mercanaries".
OOC: let's wait 'till tommorrow to see if any more ppl will join

Tenere looks at Cadrel and smiles. "I am not want to be hidding, but for now I shall sit at the Kheel and remain unoticed." As Tenere moves, Cadrel see a small grey cat materalize before him. A cold intelligence hides behind its eyes. A wizards familiar. But, as the cat moves to follow Tenere, Cadrel see the shadow it leaves. It looks for the world to be a minature dragon. Tenere just smiles and turns invisible.

"Just talk to me. I'll still be here. And besides the pay I will give you. *pulles out 5 platium pieces* My spells are yours to command."

The cat justs rolls its eyes in sheer boredem.

A cloak figure moves up to the captian of the boat and removes the hood, which reveals elven ears. " I have escaped from the arena... i was a gladiator... i will pay my passage with my skill in battle... please help me escape from this cursed place i beg"

A voice speaks out as Tenere materalizes....

"I could just 'Teleport' us all out," Tenere began. "But I must be careful of the spells I cast. See, it has to do with this King and his stupid mage, and a ...*He thinks real hard* purple dragon crest? Yeah that's it. Got kicked out of Suzel and here I am."
Tenere looks behind him and up the path.
"I just hope I gave the Merc's the slip."
"And just who might you be?" Tenere asked.

"I don't trust magic!" said Cadrel quickly *bad for business* he thought.
"Aye we should leave now. Hide your selves wherever you can. I would not suggest teleportation over the sea, you'd find yourself in a sea creature's belly!".
Cadrel entered a room in the back of his boat and from there pulled a lever.
The boat seemed to sway more. Cadrel had kept planks of wood on the hidden side of his ship which made it move more slowly or not at all.
Cadrel ran passed his passengers and jumped off the boat to untie the ropes holding it in the dock.
Jumping back he quietly said:
"You shall pay when we arrive in Phlan or you shall die!". Returning to the room he pulled another lever and the boat started moving. Cadrel would not tell his passengers that in the bottom of the boat was a large, wooden contraption tugging and pushing on the oars.

"Halt!" the words made Cadrel's spine tingle. "Red Plume..." his hands shaked as the boat turned slowly. Cadrel reached for two swords and left the room.
"Catch!" he said throwing the weapon at the gladiator. He must have been skilled to survive long enough to know the true colors of Hillsfar.
"Tenere! Use your magic!"
They could hear the feet of more than twenty mercanaries approaching.
~Move faster damn you~ he cursed the boat.

Tenere_de_Cardiff

Tenere chuckled at Cadrel. An insane glint crossed his eyes. He begins to cast a spell. He stretches his arm towards the nearest Red Plume Merc.
Tenere brings his hands together and smiles at the first of the Red Plume to come into range. The Red Plume eye's goes wide in horror as Tenere's spell goes off. The fool is instantly frozen solid as the 'Cone of Cold' rushed ever outward covering several other Merc. Almost half their numbers are dead or dying. Also, Tenere's spell had hit Cadrel's ship damaging a small protion of it.
Tenere falls to one knee, the spell weakening him.
"There," he gasps at Cadrel and the gladiator. "keep them off me till I can recover. That spell takes alot out of me. I will join you in a minuite."
OOC: Hey I like this this is cool :)

Cadrel had no time or the thought of thanking the mage, his mind was drifting between his ship and the next sword blow. He had to stoop to fight off the armed and armoured men. One guard managed a jump on the ship, but the part which Tenere had struck broke under the mercanarie's weight. He fell back on to his comrades and was thrust aside on the floor.
~It's moving slowly!~ Cadrel told himself as they gradually went further away, but to direct the ship out would need a captain, the gladiator could not fight by himself and Cadrel would never let anyone see his control room.

OOC: sure is!

From the forest to the left a dark-cloaked figure bursts from the underbrush at a full out run. The silver flash of metal is visible in each hand. Hot on the figures heels is a large, tawny colored forest cat. The dark figure rushes up behind the remaining mercs, hands flashing in and out, back and forth as he runs towards the ship. Mercs fall to either side, any that don't are swatted aside in bloody heaps by the cats raking paws. Just before the waters edge the dark figure leaps up on a mercenarys back as the man tries to leap over onto the ship. In one bounce off the mercs back, the figure lands gracefully on the aft deck of the ship.

For the first time you get a good look at the figure, as he whips back his hood to reveal tanned human features. A wide bladed sword in his right hand and a short blade in his left.

"You must shove off! There are half again as many of them coming not a half a breath behind, some on horseback with long bows!"

Just then the large cat bounded onto the deck beside the man. "Fear not the cat, he is a friend" The sound of shouts from shore put the man in action again, unslinging a long, ash bow from his back and nocking a black shafted arrow. "By the grace of Tymora get this tub moving or we won't live to see tomorrow!" The man began loosing black arrow after balck arrow into the throng of mercenaries gathering on shore, scattering them and dropping more than one.

As the gladiator half-elf catches the sword, he finally snaps out of his daze from months of brutality by the Red Plumes, and remembers his will to survive. He spots one heading for the downed mage that saved his ass, and explodes into action.

He spins in a melodic twists that disarms and decapatates the first mercenary... and using the momentum he spins around again and hurls the headless merc's sword into the gut of the next one...

Cadrel found himself free from battle, he'd tell the new figure of the fees later. Jumping into his control room he brought his ship hard on her right taking her away from th guards.
The ship headed steadily foreward, setting the gear straight, he went to check up on his passengers.

Tenere_de_Cardiff

Tenere, impressed with the actions of all, turns to Cadrel's fading form.
"Yes," Tenere yells after him, "listen to the new one. I'm a Transmuter and I'm afraid that my spells will not cover protection." *he grins evily* "Only destruction!!"

Tenere's familiar leaps to his shoulder, all the while taking in the new cat's measure. It smiles to the new stranger.

"Greetings," Tenere says holding out his fore arm, "I believe we haven't met. My name is Tenere de Cardiff. And I thank you for coming to my aid. Now let me come to yours."

Tenere stands to the edge of the boat. Raising his hands to the woods where the stranger and his cat came, he speaks into the air.

The magic leaps out from his hands and transforms the bank. The mud reaches up in to the sky blocking off any attemps for the Red Plume to use thier weapons. An earth elemental can be seen moving off in the direction of the Mercs.

"Now that that is done...." Tenere falls face first upon the deck. A small drop of blood trickles from his mouth. An arrow purturding from his back. Across the other side in the trees several Red Plume have taken to the trees. They ready their bows, sighting in the two warriors on deck.

"I might have been a bit hasty," Tenere smirks as he coughs blood. He reaches for the arrow and passes out.

OOC: so we just add to this? is that it? I hope I'm doing this right :)

Shirador watched from the trees, a malicious grin on his face.

He was not a new recruit with the Red Plumes, he had seen many battles on land and at sea...he knew just how to handle these hullagans...

Waving his hands in the air, he dropped a few pieces of spider web from his hands and watched as they disappeared, summoning with their disapating magic, a great wind which swept toward the boat with malevolent intent.....

Grinning, he was already begining his second incantation.....

The man watches as Tenere drops to the deck, "Formal introductions can wait," he said, setting his bow down. "We have to take care of that arrow first." He kneels down next to Tenere and examines the red and white fletched arrow, "This one cannot be pushed through, I am going to have to pull it out. This may sting a bit", drawing his dagger and pulling a small metal flask from a pouch, he sets the flask on the deck. He begins cutting a small area around the arrow from the leather. Taking an arrow from his quiver he holds it to Teneres face, "Here, bite down on this." Examining the entrance wound around the arrow he makes two even cuts into Teneres skin on either side with his dagger and then drops it to the deck, "Here we go," Gripping the arrow close to Teneres back he quickly and cleanly pulls the arrow free. Blood flows freely from the wound, as he throws the arrow to the deck. Grabbing the metal flask he uncorks it and pours some dark green fluid onto the wound, which immediately beings to heal the arrow hole in Teneres back. He helps Tenere into a sitting position and offers him the flask, "Take a draught of this, it will help heal the wound and fight any poisons that may have been on the arrow."

The man stands and extends his forearm to Tenere and helps him to stand, "I am known as Rhen, Rhen Darkholme, woodsman by trade," He gestures to the large, tawny cat near the ships rail, "and this is my companion, I call her Cat, just Cat." He turns toward Cat and notices the beast is taking a great interest in the woods to the left. Moving over to the rail beside Cat, he receives a sense of forboding from her, not towards him or the ship, but something on shore, in the woods. "Something untoward is afoot. Cat smells magic, and not yours Tenere. We must make speed, away from here." With that he looks over at the other occupant of the ship, "Nice work friend half-elf, we may need more of your skill with a blade before the morning is over." With that he retrieves his bow from the deck and picks the red and white fletched arrow up, peering at the head, wet with Teneres blood. He sniffs the blood and touches his forefinger to the arrow-head, then to the tip of his tongue. "No poison Tenere that I can detect", he says spitting it out over the rail. "But it is better to be safe than sorry." He takes the Red Plumes arrow and nocks it into his great ash bow, taking an archers stance he takes aim on the woods near where Cat is still peering intently. Closing his eyes his mind drifts and melds with Cats. In his minds eye his vision blurs and then quickly begins to clear. He sees furtive movement just inside the tree line beyond the shore, and takes aim. Loosing the arrow towards the movement, the ash bow makes barely a whisper as the bowstring is released. The mercenary arrows flight is swift as it disappears into the forests edge. After a second, Rhen opens his eyes and glances at Cat, "Thank you my friend," he places his hand on the cats large head and turns toward the others with a shrug, "I don't know who or what it is, but I missed." Mumbling under his breath about never missing and inferior mercenary arrows, Rhen stalks to the stern of the boat nocking a black-shafted arrow as he goes...

"Cover yourselves!" he shouted over the what seemed to be raging waters.
Turning slowly he headed for the west, this storm was quite sudden he thought before leaving the room.

Tenere nods his head towards the elf.
"I am honored to..." his words suddenly die off.

Tenere looks forward and his eyes go wide. "Cadrel, man you station!" he yells as he rushes to the front of the boat. Raising his arm pointing towards the front of the boat, he stops and laughs. A manical glent crosses his face. His voice augmented by his magic, he yells out...

"You imputent spell flinger, it will take more than a pitiful wave to ruin my fun. I have crossed the planes, all of them. What can a mere wave mean to one who traversed the plane of water?"

Tenere turns a small cirlce. "Come, OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL, then. Do your worst. I will not be your justice, I will be your punishment."

Tenere's familiar rushes out past him and dives over board. With the sould of muscles and bones ripping, the cat changes form. Before everyones startled gaze, hovers an acient cloud dragon. Still, the glint of bordem gleams in its eyes.
It turns its huge neck and smiles a knowing smile at the mage in the tree. ~Methinks I'll have a bit of a sport,~ it thinks to itself. With a mental shrug to Tenere, the dragon moves to the Trees.
Tenere gulps as the dragon moves off, he prepares his waterbreathing spell as the wave nears.
"Damn you Greymere," he says and ducks for cover.

Tenere looked on as the dragon paralyed. ~Damn dragon,~ he thought. ~Everytime, what he wants.~
The anger rising up in him, the screams his spell. The arcane energies rush out from him fueled by his rage. The threatning wave aproaching is blasted into steam. Tenere stands, trembling looking on to the dragons.
"I don't know what your problem is 'Dragon', but I don't have any trife with you. Why are you attacking us?" he asks then turning to the others. "I have a few spells left that can help us but you won't like what they can do," he grins. "Pray I don't have to use them."

The ranger looks up at the spectacle above them, "Dragons, Tenere can your friend dragon fend off this vile beast? I shall pray that your spells are not needed." Holding his great ash bow, arrow nocked, he looks down at the weapon. "There is not much I can do against that sort of foe, unless..." Slinging the bow over his shoulder and placing the arrow back in his quiver, he begins rummaging through his quiver, "Damn, where is it?" he mumbles to himself. Reaching into the folds of his cloak he brings forth a large, black pouch with a drawstring top. Untying the drawstring he reaches his hand into the bag and mumbles a few words, "Dark green quiver," The ranger then begins pulling a dark green colored quiver with many different looking arrows contained within, from the pouch. Retying the drawstring and placing the pouch into the folds of his cloak, he begins looking through the arrows within the new quiver. With a grunt of satisfaction he pulls out a dark green shafted arrow with multihued fletching and a strange and wicked looking black head. He replaces his arrow in the quiver, unslings his bow and sits down on the deck, placing the bow and the new quiver down in front of him. Reaching into his shirt he grasps a silver chain around his neck and pulls out the small medallion that is attached to it's end. Holding the medallion in one hand and gesturing with the other he closes his eyes and begins chanting softly. After a few seconds he waves his free hand over his bow and quiver of arrows. Opening his eyes he stands up. Reaching down he picks up the quiver and bow, and slings the quiver over his left side so it rests on his left hip. Pulling out the arrow he had chosen before he nocks it to the string of his great bow, "Now perhaps I can be of help in defeating this vile beast," he says, looking up at the grey-scaled monstrosity above him. Pulling the bowstring to his right eye, he takes careful aim at the creatures head...

[OOC]: Darkholmes dark green quiver holds various magical arrows that he has collected over the years. Most are very powerful and some are unique. I won't tell what they are, or the what the whole chanting and waving thing was all about... I leave that up to the imagination. ;)

Four days later the boat found itself near Yulash. Around now the boat would follow the shore and turn around to Phlan. The small party had told everyone what they wanted each to know. Cadrel leaned on a rail overlooking the sea...
