The morning dew had not yet disappeared as the sun crept slowly over the hazy horizon, a horizon that was watched with teary eyes, a blue paler than the noon-day sky. Soft, caramel golden hair stretched passed a pair of small delicate shoulders, cascading down white silken robes, etched in silver. Both hands gripped the thin silver staff that reached just abover her own shoulders....a Cresent moon lying atop it.

Lynaria let her tears roll free. Each one that fell mingled with the dew beneath her sandled feet. The pack at her feet fell over slightly to the left. The White Robed Mage bent at the knees to correct the pack.....but instead picked it up and slung it over her left shoulder, gripping the staff in her right hand. She let the light touch her fair skin one last time before turning on the dawning sun and heading down the well trodden path to Haven.

Little Lights are all we are,
Striving for that blazing torch,
Alone we travel, weighed by tar,
But together....the Stars themselves be scorched...

The poem her mother would ryhme to her....we were all little lights in this world, striving for that greater purpose...that torch of brightness...but only together would we reach that goal....a goal she did not think relevant anymore.

Dust clogged her nose and mouth, the rode to Haven was quiet this day, only a few passers had she seen since setting off for....whatever. Why had she gone some at the Tower would ask? Well, she had passed her test those two years ago....Lynaria wouldn't remain another year, not till she found some purpose in her life, not until she could help.

Rumours had grown, dark rumours. Armies, death...blood. All had spread the seed of doubt amoungst her white brethren....none seemed concerned, save the few. And so this little light made her own way...Haven seemed a good bet for information. Palanthas was too big, rumours few too wildly around that city of marble and beauty.

A soft rustling sounded in the brush ahead of her, it passed her ears, her attention elsewhere for now...

OOC: Ok, the idea of this is to add a little something into the War of The Lance, certain things may change. I intend to be in the town when Verminarrd overtakes it. To be honest i don't know if this will pick up, it was just a passing idea, feel free to join.

(OOC: Looks interesting. I hope you have a decent storyline planned ahead! Oh, and this new character isn't my usual, blunt, klutzy or serious characters. I've decided to try and mix the two together...Let's see how it works out...)

I cannot stay indoors,
and I have yet no need for a sword!
The roads under my feet have been muddy,
grassy,
shiny,
dark!
I have smelled gold in tons,
and I have taken some too;
Without even lifting a finger!
I fear no man, no beast!
My path seems forever on,
yet my feet don't know where to guide me!
I've...

Althios stopped singing as his sensitive, yet not elvish ears picked up the sound of weeping. He smiled and started from where he leapt off,

I've seen ruby-red scales tinged with black,
sapphire turned night-ish blue.
I've seen what makes dragonbreath,
though it wasn't very pretty, if you ask me.
The paths I have lead, the paths I will lead,
and still I a sword I do not carry,
and do not seek!

At this moment, he come out of the brush, clade in furs and leather of a woodlander, a sack at his side and at his back. His black hiar was tipped with silver and his eyes dark colors that changed by the direction someone faced him. He knew that whoever this was (it was probably a mage of some sort, by the state of her arcane mind.), was in sorrow, but what it was he could not tell, for it was too closely guarded by her. Now that he stepped out to get a look at her, he was slightly surprised at the accuracy he had been able to probe someone's mind from the distance he was at. To ponder that another day, however...

Building up his own mind-barriers (you can never tell with mages), Althios smiled at the mage under the quickly rising sun. But, instead of asking why she had been letting tears fall, he smiled and sat down at the side of the road, beginning to build a fire with the kindling he had picked up in the woods.

As soon as the little fire was blazing softly, he invited her to sit down with him in a wordless suggestion. He did not see her beauty as of yet for he did not look at her, but at a small pot he had taken out of his sack to make dinner, which he always carried enough for two of. His mind, however, was busily looking around the edges of hers, to make sure no hostile thoughts toward him flew around anywhere in the jumble of thoughts that happened to make up the minds of all mages.

She did not move.

Shrugging, he thought, "I guess she needs to think for awhile. Gives me a chance to try and see why she's sad and lend a hand if I can..."

Aloud though, he said "If you're hungry, you're welcome to join me, sorceress."

OOC: I think i'll be a dark elf....Silvanesti...Exiled but innocent, and took the blame for someone else

BIC~

The elf walked down a well used path. She had gorgeous blond hair, with hints of silver, and blue eyes that some said were green. Her eyes showed only sorrow, only sadness. She was 6' exactly, with long tampered fingers. Her black travel cloak was worn, s if she had been traveling many night without rest. She couldnt rest, not with her thoughts plaguing her elven mind. She had been exiled, cast out, termed a "Dark Elf" for something she didnt do. Although she did not believe in E'li, no one knew. One of her friends was practicing Dark Magick, and ahe had been blamed. She chould never go back to Silvanost, never stand at the Tower of thh Stars, never hear the trees sing, or the gentle murmur of the rain. In the rest of the world, it was different.

Noticing the camp fire and two being around it with her elvensight, she walked up and looked at the two being around it. One was sobbing quietly, and the other, and elf, was making a somethign to eat. She looked at the elf, and pondered weather to leave, as this was the source of her sadness, or stay and eat. She was weary and thin, and she had done nothing but get as far away from Silvanost for the last week. Her hunger won out, and she sat down.

"Excuse me," SHe says in a accented common, "But may i join you?" How many men does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Well, one to screw it in, but 99 to complain about the screwing part.

(OOC: Your RPing has gotten far better than last time I came around, Princess. I'm glad to see that :D. Let's see, oh, why not, I might as well...)

Althios glanced at the newcomer and felt a sense of hunger and sadness...and he sighed inwardly. It didn't take him less than a second to realize it was betrayal that saddened this one, though that wasn't his main peeve. He was sitting down next to two females, both sad, one hungry, one most likely somewhat powerful, and a pot of stew set for two. Something was bound to wander by and not bother to leave them alone. And he hated using his powers in front of anyone.

However, he didn't let his inner annoyance show to anyone, even if they had tried to probe or scry him. He just smiled.

"It seems like you already have," he said with a reassuring smile, as if he had seen her hesitation before she had sat down. "Here, you can have my portion. I've been eating well these past few days..." He handed her a bowl and a spoon, both made of wood.

He watched the two quietly, and before the newcomer could reach her spoon into the pot, he said, "Oh, and, by the way, I'm a quarter human along with my elf blood.""Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

A tall, slender woman stood in the door way of the Travelers Inn, looking outside, enjoying the feel of the morning breeze upon her handsome face. She sighed, opened her hazel eyes, and ran a hand through her long sandy blonde hair. Althea Trumboldt sensed a change in the air, and it wasn't a pleasant one.

She shook her head and walked back inside, closing the door behind her. She had to prepare for another day of business, and wasn't looking forward to it. All people ever talked about these days was war. Everyone was afraid, and they were made more so with the rumors about Haven. According to what had been circulating, Haven was going to be attacked. No one knew when, they just knew it was going to happen.

Althea walked into the kitchen, and found her cook there, drying tears with her apron. The poor woman had a son who had gone off to fight in the war, and was a wreck because of it. Every day she was certain that a rider would come in and announce the news that the boy had died in battle.
"Leena, have you gotten any sleep at all?"
"No, I haven't," Leena said miserably.
"Go home then. Dont' worry about this, I'll take care of it for the day," Althea said kindly. Leena didn't say a word, just simply nodded and walked out the back door. Well, the serving girl was going to have a doubly hard time tonight. Althea tried to forget about all the bad things happening in the world as she started to prepare food for her guests that were sure to come.

Putting down the food, she realized once again she will never taste teh delicate flower dishes of the Silvanesti, never drink the wine.

((OOC: lol, not posting, but my character has his strengths and weaknesses. For instance, have you noticed he can't even find the other's name? Or their history? All he can feel is the person's emotions and thoughts that have something to do with him, since that is most conciously closest linked to him. The only people he can fully read almost to the point of knowing every thought that passes through them, is the people that have fully placed their trust in him. And as for using...well, he's not on the inside as he seems on the outside. He's a dragonbane, you must remember that...And becoming a dragonbane requires extremely hard training at Qualinost. BIC: The two dark figures walked down the road. One a dark robed mage and the other a large dark warrior. They were both dusty and travel swore, but they yet had some distance to go. Both plodded along in silence, both lost in their own thoughts. Both trying to answer thier own problems. So ingrossed were they that neither saw the fire nore the small group that sat by it until they were upon them. The dark robed mage looked up suddenly and put up his hand. Both figures stopped and looked at the group. With out a word both figures and turned and headed for the group. They came up a little short and looked around. The black robed figure's eyes rested on the white robed mage. His platinum eyes and white hair were defined by the fire light.

Lynaria strode into the Lord City of Haven....she laughed slightly to herself. Her cresent moon staff clicked on the cobbled street paths, the smells of filth, baking and strife filled the air, a welcome change to bat gauno and rose petals at least.

The Inn caught her eye....she was thirsty, and tired, a rest was well welcomed to her mind, and so her feet found their way in to the Inn.

“Now where did I put my wretched hat?”.

The old man was dressed in robes that were once white but were now an obscure grey in colour. His pointy hat was no longer rising proudly into the sky but was distinctly pointing downwards.

As he huffed and puffed his way up the steps to the inn, he couldn’t help but voice a complaint or too about the architecture of inns and why there was always a need for so many steps, and how they were definitely a burden on his growing arthritis!

“Landlord” he bellowed as he stepped inside. “A cup of ale before I finally find that spell for a fireball! I’ve been looking for it half my life and I think I finally remember where I put it”.

From behind his voluminous robes, there was a muffled giggle. The old man turned around and glared at the Halfling who had dared to mock his deadly threat.

“Really Fizban, you know that you wouldn’t really!”.

The old man glared at the kender.

“It’s a dare then is it?”, asked Fizban with a glower. The kender nodded.

“Right then”, said Fizban, as he rolled up his sleeves and began to rummage in his hat for the piece of paper his most famous spell was scrawled on.

Tas continued to watch, his arms folded and his eyes glittering. Here we go again! He thought cheerfully. To be or not to be, ay there's the point,

Jikora’s day was not improved any by having a fireball land on her table. The exploding table and flying splinters managed to gather its fair share of attention from among the patrons of the inn, not forgetting to mention, Jikora herself.

“You win the dare!” said Tasslehoff. “I think you only singed one of her eyebrows though, so the lady won’t be as mad as she would have been if you’d got both of them”, the kender added helpfully.

"Hello" said Tas, giving a small wave of greeting. "My name is Tasslehoff Burfoot and this is Fizban, but his real name is ...ouch!", the kender turned and glared at the old mage and then began to rub his aching backside where Fizban's foot has landed. He threw a hand over his mouth.

"Oh yes", he said, "I remember now. Secret". He winked at Fizban. "I'll remember now", he promised, before walking over to help Jikora to her feet.

Fizban merely rolled his eyes and sent a prayer heavenward ...to himself.

Althea could not believe her misfortune. Having a kender in her inn was bad enough, but now it looked like two of the patrons, the wizard whose name was apparently Fizban, and a young woman, were about to get into a fight.

"Here!" she said to the waiting girl, thrusting a tray at her, as Althea herself rushed over to intercede. She walked over to the girl whose table had exploded, and tried to help clean her off. "Miss, please, let me buy you another drink, and ignore the old one. I'm sure he meant no real harm."

Althea looked at the old mage, and couldn't tell if he was pleased with himself or not. Apparently the kender was thrilled with the way things happened, but that didn't solve any immediate problems. She shook her head. There was talk of war, and all she could think about was how long her day had just gotten.Oh, I'm sorry, is this yours? You must have dropped it. Jikora bit her lip and resisted the very strong urge to nail both the kender and the wizard. Sitting back down at another table (which was not charred) she was given another wine and paitently sipped it. Not as good and any of the elven wines, but decent, better then that dwarf spirits crap they drink.

"Thank you." She said curtly. "I would prefer better company then an insane mage and a kender, but no one else serves wine. Sit down, unless you have more tables to wait. A companion is something i havent had for some time, since Miss Karisha blamed me for her dark magic using."

She didnt care she was spilling secrets to this human. She only wanted to talk. But not in this common language. The fluid Silvanesti talk wanted to role over her tougue, but she did not let it.

Althios watched the two maidens leave his campfire. As soon as they were out of his sight, a small, nightblue crystal began glowing and floated out of his bag, stopping near his right ear.
I see you don't appreciate company.
Althios shrugged and stroked the fire with a stick. This psicrystal was one of powerful intelligence, though it was newly made. Plus, he had also (to his dismay) managed to catch a strange wisp into the crystal as he had made it. That accounted for the crystal rising up on its own and talking to him on its own, without his command, unlike his other crystals.
Why don't you?
Althios never bothered putting the mask of cheerfulness up around those who trusted him, and this wisp/psicrystal was bound to him.
"After hearing many you have loved perish under dragonbreath and the stinger of a wyvern, you learn try not to grow close to others."
You seem to have grown close to me
"You can be replaced."
...
Althios shrugged and placed his pots and wooden utensils back into his sack. This time he called upon another crystal, a transparent gem, one of wisdom, to heed his call.
Your need, master?
"Go to the crystal dragon Spectra. Tell her I need one of her scales."
She will not be pleased. The gem of wisdom had been crafted from one of the crystal dragon's scales and had kept some of the essence of the dragon inside it.
"She owes me."
The transparent gem glowed softly once and then disappeared.

Turning toward the way the mage and the elf girl had left, Althios glanced at his ear. The nightblue crystal was still near.
"That's the longest time you've stayed quiet."
Have I ever told you my real name?
"I never bothered to ask."
It's Shyra.
"Oh hello, and my name is Althios, pleased to meet you."
I'm not amused.
"Don't be.
Did you really mean what you said? About me being replaced?
Althios stayed quiet as he made his way toward the gate of Haven and made ready to tell the guard his reasons for being in the city.
"I'm a weary traveller in need of rest and food."
The guard nodded and waved him onward.
As he entered the doors of the first inn he came by, he looked toward the fleeting nightjewel and said, "no."
He felt relief and pleasure eminating from the jewel as he turned away.

((OOC: Althios just entered the inn everyone else is at and wears a big grin on his face. It looks real and the mental walls put up around him prevent scrying.))"Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Jikora glanced at the person who had entered. Stopping in the middle of her teaching (which she took alot of pleasure in) she walked over.

"You are the one who I met by the road." SHe said. It was a comment, not a question. Dannie: Hey, you know there's a new birth control drug out. Guess what the side effects are?
Jason (Hellforge): Heart Attack, stroke, and death?
Me: Pregnancy?

Althios smiled and nodded.
"So I am. Though i wonder how you manage to stay in such a place when you could barely even feed yourself." He looked sidelong at the elf, said his well-wishes and made his way towards the mage and kender.
Sitting down at their table (uninvited), he said,
"Well, I seem to be running into a lot of mages lately. Rather odd occurence, don't you think?"
Taking a skim across the in the room, he made sure no thoughts were directed at him (besides the two in front, the kender's being...well...a kender's, and the mage seeming to have mental walls more powerful than his own, though the old man looked slightly muddled) and then held his voice low so that only the mage and his companion could hear.
"You wear mouse-colored robes, old one. That is not wise for such a mage as obvious as you are. you could be branded as a renegade, or worse."
Louder, he said, "My name's Althios, good people. Well met.""Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"
