Warlock. Not a term spoken or heard of on Krynn, well, least not by the majority of the population. There are the few learned and wise, those amoung the mages mostly, whom know of the Warlock existence. Considering them Renegade.....not far from the truth actually....and as such, they are hunted, not to the extent of the renegade mage, but still enough to cull their all too few numbers. It is rare for a Warlock to come across another such as himself, and even more rare for the two to leave the encounter both alive. For two Warlocks must duel to the death should they cross paths, it has been written in blood by bone....for the victor gains the others knowledge. One reason they are feared by the Conclave...they can amass power very easily, but the sheer number of the mages keeps the Warlock in check and secretive.

But recently, one such being had been more active of late. Emerging from his marshland home.....searching......simply searching. He had seen little of this world, having been shunned from society but the force of blade and Arcane magic....a very sore subject on his part, and not one he liked being questioned on.

Several humans had made the visit ot see him, he had some note of healing, more so by the herbs and plants he gathered around the marsh land, and would help....for the right price. But such a life was belittling, he wanted more, more excitement than administrating foul smelling spices and poultrices to whining visitors. D'Wyntre wanted to sample the lives of others around Krynn, experience the thrill of battle and the hardship of lose. The sweet necter of romance, and the pungent aroma of failure.....he soon began to hunger.

His light blue velvet robe was covered by a dark blue cloak. His deep purple eyes, odd for a human, but it was the mark of the Warlock, a human born with such eyes had the potential power of a Warlock....that was if the child could tap into it. Soft brown, curly hair fell to shoulder length, a style he liked, and kept for many years. His face was unmarred, mature, grace with a regal elgance he niether lived nor held.

Palanthas....a city of wonders un-measured. Its beauty was matched only by the very size. But his eyes wandered to the black tower in the distance, looming over head as a constant reminder to be vigilant while here. It was often popular for mages.

Flaming Brand, the sign read. 'Accomodation and Ale'. "A tavern...", was all he whispered, and so stepped inside, taking in the suspicious gazes that drifted his way, lingering for the moment and then returning to their buisness....save for one sitting in a shadowed corner. Noting the stranger, he walked the creaking tavern floor to reach the bar, the clinging smoke of pipes hanging thickly in the air, a vertual fog to pass through.

OOC: I'll be cool with it if you dont want me to join. Just give me the word.

IC: A tall, thin, man stood at the bar of the Flaming Brand tavern. He came to Palanthas all the way from the plains. He was once a hunter in the Queshu tribe.

The man was alone. Everyone around him gave the man privacy. Mostly because they feared the "barbarian". His shoulders were covered with tattoos. The man also had a bow slung around shoulder and a long sword at his side.

He wore a simple leather vest and baggy forest green pants. The man played with a ring in his hands, his only sign of luxury. His face was shadowed by the blond hair drooping over his face.If your expecting a kick in the balls and you get a slap in the face, its a victory!

Sitting down at a distant table, he sipped on the ale, and ate little of the somewhat stale bread and hard cheese. His eyes glanced to the man, sitting in a shadowed corner of the inn. Turning his gaze, he peered into the tankard, whispering silent words in the common tongue, an image formed.....he smiled, yes it still existed, after all these centuries.....again he stole a fleeting glance, banishing the image, he stood up and walked over. "Is this seat taken my friend?"

The barbarian shook his head with a blank face.

He signalled to the bartender who slid a pint down to the man.

" No one sits here, you may. And i am no friend of yours. I do not even know you stranger." The man said, his blank face not changed. If your expecting a kick in the balls and you get a slap in the face, its a victory!

" My people call me Ronto, I am from the plains. People around here call me 'the barbarian'. So D'Wyntre, thats a hard name, is their anything shorter i can call you?" The barbarian asked.

Simon walked into the tavern and looked around. Yes this is were the power was coming from. Infact the aura was so powerful that simon could track it to one person. Simon smiled to himself and started walking towards the figure at the bar.............I've walked into the fires of Hate, stared into the eyes of Pain, fought off

OOC: D'Wyntre is human, but is also a Warlock. He uses magic, but doesn't speak the arcane language, and is also different from a Sorcerer. At his level of power, he generally doesn't have to use incantations, etc, but does from time to time.

IC: "Shorter? Well...none have ever asked to call be anything but D'Wyntre....none have ever dared....though....Wyn would do i suppose, yes, I quite like that actually.", he smiled to himself. "Ronto huh? Tell me, what is it you are here for in Palanthas, i can't inmagine a Barbarian being greatly welcome??", He glanced to the new figure that had arrived in the bar, something un-nerved him.

The elf stayed in the back of the inn, his blue eyes watching the newcomers into the Tavern. He wore simple clothes in somber grey colors, the most prominint was a Silver sash tied around his waist. His hair was a dark steely-grey, and seemed to shimmer silver and gold as the firelight played with it.

His hands where long-fingered and nimble, at a glance, one would think he was a theif, but those who know him simply as "Silar" knew better. He watched the group closely, his gaze unnervingly steady.I'll be right there

Again his purple eyes strayed to the man. "No...i cannot say i do Ronto...however i dare not take a guess as to his profession. Perhaps we should leave before he makes himself known to us....i feel uneasy around his sort....", Wyn felt more eyes on him, feeling as though they were boring into the back of his head. He turned in his chair to see the silver haired man.....possibly elf....he wasn't sure. But none the less he stood up swiftly.

Standing, he hadn't a clue what to do. He couldn't exactly ignore the 'newcomer'. If his suspicions of him were correct then ignoring him would bring greater attention.....like his power alone already hadn't. Unlike mages, Warlocks, even lesser ones, radiate there power....it can't be helped. Anyone who has an incline of magic can feel it....another reason Warlocks like isolation. Why had he emerged from the marshes?

However, deciding, he walked over to the silver haired one, eying Ronto before hand to join him. "Excuse me friend....but might we trouble you and join your table....two is company....but three is safer....". he smiled slightly...almost pleadingly.

"so tell me, ones like you are as rare as I am....why have you sought out company in your solitide?" Silar asked, as he took a sip of the ruby-red wine that set in the glass before him.

"My name is too complicated for many to reproduce...you may simply call me Silar." He said, setting the glass back down on the table.I'll be right there

Ronto followed Wyn to the mans table.

" Hello Silar, I am Ronto." The tribesmen said kindly with smile. Rontos expression quickly changed at the sight of the silver haired mans pointy ears. He was no human! He was an 'elf', a race greatly hated by his people.

Rontos face became blank and serious as it was before. The tribesmen couldnt help but feel for his sword, just to make sure it was still there. Why was the tribesmen so much on edge? Ronto was definately nervous. This was the first time he had encountered an elf, and he was extremely frightened.

He remembered the stories told to him as a child. All the children would gather around the fire during tribal ceremonies and listen to the ancestors tell tales of the evil races of Krynn. The elves were one of them. If your expecting a kick in the balls and you get a slap in the face, its a victory!

Suddenly, the Flaming Brand tavern's door burst open, and a heavily armored man stepped in. The man walked with ease, but also in a powerful manner. His plated armor crashed and clattered as he walked. A long sword hung on his side from a belt.

"Where is this warlock?", the man spoke through his helmet, saying warlock as if disgusted, "I am a bounty hunter and have come for his head."''may the fleas of a thousand reindeers rest upon your genitals''

"Well, sir," Silar said with a flourish, dropping into a curteous bow. "I believe you are searching for me then." His bright blue eyes seemed to flash with an inner light.

The bursting door had startled a gnome who sat at a table far from the door and located near the fire. The gnome, known as Detontrophe to his companions, was seated amoung several dwarves. These dwarves were not his friends, but pleasant none the less.

Most of the Taven paid little attention to the figure in the doorway. Neither would have Detontrophe had the bounty hunter not mention the word, warlock.

A warlock, hadn't he heard that before? Yes, the gnome decided to himself. The Architects' Guild had use for warlocks, there were interesting locks that kept Mt. nevermind safe from invading forces. Or they would have if it hadn't been blown up.

Then Detontrophe had a wonderful idea, he would continue to watch the confrontation and find this warlock and take it back home to Mt. Nevermind.

What a wonderful idea.signed:

OOC: Ok, i'll let this slip just now, but just to point out that not many, aside from certain mages and other magically inclined beings, would know of a Warlocks existence. They number in the few, and tend to stick to isolated areas. My char is obviously a slight exception, however, for any who wish to join in here on, please note that you will not know what a Warlock is, unless of course you are a mage etc, and can then feel the energies Wyn gives off.

Detontrophe slipped away from the dwarves that were already amiss from the ale that they drank. Their loud, obnoxious bellows of laughter made perfect cover for the gnome to slip closer to the interesting confrontation occuring elswhere.

Running into a gully dwarf became a hassel when Deton couldn't get rid of the creature. He was following him closer and closer. Realizing that he couldn't get anywhere with the smell of gully following him, Deton turned to the dully dwarf and asked him to grab him three pints of ale. "So you are this... warlock. I have been sent by an anonymous individual, but with what I am being paid, I imagine he is very powerful. I am called Hadarun, not that it matters to you, since you will be dead once I am finished here. Now, down to business."

Picking up part of the conversation, Detontrophe realized that the dark figure was named Hadarun. He also found out that he, too, wanted the war - lock.

Why would he want the lock that kept enemy forces away? Was the Knights of Solamnia in need of some remodeling? Deton knew that it would be quite difficult to get the war - lock if it was in the hands of a knight. "Why can't I ever seem to get door accessories from people like that?" he asked himself.

"You want door?" The gully dwarf, who came back without any ale, replied, "Shnaff go get for gnome."

Before the gnome could stop him, the gully dwarf walked out in front of the knight.

He moved around the table, watching the man's every move. "well then, If we are to "get down to business" I think we should take this outside, I would hardly want to frighten these innocents, and trash the proprietor's property."

The gully dwarf, Schnaff, met the knight. Actually he met his palm because he was thrown into a table. The only once who was worried about this were the people sitting at the table who kicked his lifeless body down the aisle.

Detontrophe cursed under his breath believing himself to be the cause of the gully dwarf's death.

He noticed that several of the people along with the knight went outside. He also noticed that one of the persons, a barbarian had traveled upstairs. Silar nimbly dodged the run. "And you sir, do not see the forest for the trees...." He mumbled, and shifted. Ronto was shocked to see Silar in her true form. He had only seen a dragon once before this. The plainsmen, seeing the bounty hunter fall to the ground, knew that he was not needed.

Ronto turned around to leave the room but jumped to the floor in fear at the sight of a very small creature.

" Who are you? What do you want with me?!" Ronto screamed, never seeing a gnome before. If your expecting a kick in the balls and you get a slap in the face, its a victory!

Wyn walked over to Silar....his eyes looked the 'elf' from head to toe and up again. "Well, aren't you full of surprises.", he chuckled softly to himself. He placed an arm under the bounty hunter, aiding him in standing up. "Now...i think we need to get a bit more information out of this one....what say you Silar?"

With the metavox open, Detontrophe heard someone outside wailing about the war - lock and ten thousand gold. It seemed to the gnome that someone else wanted to barricade their castle. Must be the Solamnics, always pissing people off.

Paying more attention to the sounds outside and the metavox, the gnome forgot all about the Plainsman.

Ronto turned around to leave the room but jumped to the floor in fear at the sight of a very small creature.

" Who are you? What do you want with me?!" Ronto screamed, never seeing a gnome before.

Dropping the metavox in fear, it opened and echoed the name Tij and something about killing. The gnome was really upset, knowing that he could not save the message by playing it into another metavox at a later date. Everything was now lost.

"My name is DetontropheSonOfTheGnomeWhoBlewUpNecropolisWith-SomeStupidGadgetThatDidn'tWork..." the gnome trailing off forgetting the rest, "I want the war - lock for Mt. Nevermind! If it can truely keep out dragons, I need it for the Architects' Guild. Hand it over barbarian!"

After the plainsman didn't answer him for a few seconds, the gnome sat down with his feet tucked under him. He stared at the plainsman for a few moments, "please," he asked.signed:

" War-lock? What the hell is that?" Ronto asked the gnome. Ronto picked the metavox off the floor. He looked at it in bewilderment and started banging it on his head.

" What is this?" Ronto was very curious about this creature before him.

" War-lock? What the hell is that?"

Detontrophe became furious, "You know damn well what it is! You must give it to me. I only want to graph the order of it's making. I will return it once I can successfully reproduce it," he explained calming himself down, not wanting to upset the large plainsman.

Ronto picked the metavox off the floor. He looked at it in bewilderment and started banging it on his head.

" What is this?" Ronto was very curious about this creature before him.

"It's mine, that's all you need to know," Detontrophe replied making a grab for it but missing.

" Wait, why are you so small?" Ronto asked, full of questions about this unknown race.

Taking a deep breathe, Detontrophe began his explaination, "my race is afflicted with the taste of coffee, we need it to study the innerworkings of just about anything. As a matter of fact, I'll get you some coffee, it won't effect you, as soon as you give me the barracading instrument known as the war - lock."

The gnome looked around the room, eyeing everything in it. "If you don't mind me asking, where do you keep it?"signed:

" In that closet." Ronto replied.

When the gnome went inside, the plainsmen gave the closet door a kick. There was kicking and screaming from inside.

Ronto just laughed and ran out of the room. He got down the stairs and was back in the tavern. He saw Silar and Wyn inside.

" Well? How did it go?" Ronto asked the elf, Silar. If your expecting a kick in the balls and you get a slap in the face, its a victory!

" In that closet." Ronto replied.

Detontrophe ran into the closet to grab the infamous war - lock. When he was inside the whole place went dark because the plainsman locked him in.

The gnome picked and punched and even tried biting the door. The biting was a tactic he learned from gully dwarves and he only used it as a last resort. He heard a laugh and the sound of footsteps leaving the room outside the closet. "For being such an curious guy, he was quite rude!" Detontrophe remarked to himself.

Deciding he needed to get out quickly, Detontrophe searched his pockets for his mechanical lockpick. Once finding it he placed it into the lock and began pushing buttons, not exactly knowing which did what. How many things could it do?

One of those things happened after a few moments - it blew up.signed:

OOC: Gonna try and speed this up.

IC: Wyn lifted the mans chin so that his face came level with his own. "Listen bounty hunter.....Silar here is no Warlock....", he looked to Silar with a resisting glance, he knew what he was doing. "I am your Warlock....but believe me when i say that i would not have been as accomadating as Silar had been had you challenged me.....you had obviously not done your research before hunting me, or were ill-informed. Every Warlock bares the same mark of the purple eyes...thats was sets us apart from other humans....perhaps you will remember it next time.", Wyn knew not if the man even heard him. He showed no intelligent response. "Very well, we try it another way then...."

Wyn's hand came up and grabbed the mans forehead. Light forked from underneath the spread palm, small lances of lighting flickered across the bounty hunters head, eyes....open. His own eyes glowed a fierce and deep purple, dark shadows flitted across them as he delved into the mans mind. He finished. Drawing a shakey breath, Wyn rose to stand next to Silar. "He knows little else of who hired him....of that he spoke the truth unfortunately......but i felt something cold....darker...", the Warlock shook his head. "I don't think we have any better use for him....what will we do?"

Haduran blinked. His head really hurt. He felt like he was going to die. Everything was hazy, he could hardly see anything. He heard voices, but couldn't comprehend them. The knight tried to tighten his hand, but he could not even curl a finger. Something was wrong...

Then images flashed into his head. They were all a blur, but it sent his head pounding with pain. They whirled around and around, his eyes watering. Flashing, the images poured in, filling his mind. His brain felt like it was going to explode.

Then a face appeared before his eyes. It was very clear. Shaggy brown hair, purple eyes.... purple eyes?... pointed ears, a small nose and tight mouth... Then the face moved it's mouth, the sound of a voice along with it. He could hear it, but not with his ears, his mind...

"Haduran... you have failed... The warlock lives and you are almost dead. I thought you would have been able to finish the job, unlike so many others... Oh, well. No matter. Stay there and relax, your misery shall be over quickly..."

The knight shut his eyes tightly, then opened them and muttered, "Tij..."
Then his head went limp and his eyes closed.

After Detontrophe's Mechanical Lockpick blew up, the gnome became slightly confused to his where abouts. One look around the room he had noticed he had been in a closet. " In that closet." The barbarian's words echoed in the gnome's head.

A barbarian, in all his unoriginal thinking, had outwitted the gnome. This made Detontrophe angry. He rembered the old gnome saying "The Abyss have no fury like that of a gnome's wrath; unless it doesn't."

This irritated the gnome to no end. He decided to find the barbarian and rectify the situation. Detontrophe walked downstairs, his mumbling preceding him, "If only I had my barbarian-flinger..."signed:
