Darkness reined over the City of Night. The plainswoman, Triana Westwind shivered at the sight of the haunted necropolis that stretched out before her. Beneath her, she felt her white stallion quiver with fear. The scent of death was heavy in the air, even now; centuries after the destruction of the city had taken place. She patted the neck of the animal soothingly.
“Be easy Pawan” she soothed the animal. The white stallion pawed at the black sand underfoot and then grew still as his mistress began to gently stroke his neck. “We must not show our fear. They feed on fear in this place”.

Horse and rider tentatively took the first few steps towards the shattered pillars. Two broken trunks were all that remained of the city gates. The main street stretched out before them, littered with broken slabs of stone and the dusty remains and ashes of the once powerful and glorious city. The air grew cold. Triana saw her breadth lift and rise before her watering eyes, as if it were a white cloud.
“Courage my friend” she whispered to her horse in a strangled voice. Her eyes glazed over as horse and rider passed through the gates. The sense of death was now an icy touch that seemed to grip at her heart. “Courage!” she whispered. There was no turning back now.

The Dragon waited and watched from his perch atop the crag on the high mountain. Arak lifted his wings as he scented the animal. Fresh meat! His belly had not seen fresh meat for days. His impulse to hunt was easily tethered by the gloved hand at his reins. The Dragon Highlord was watching the lone rider almost as intently as Arak was watching her horse.
“I must report this,” the Highlord said. They had been hunting the rider since she had left the plains but the dark mistress had not seen fit to tell them why. She had only instructed that they follow the woman. “But first I will see what she is up to”. The black dragon drew in a deep lungful of air and expanded its wings. It swooped down from the high crag like a giant eagle, every movement precise and controlled. As the dragon swept overhead, it was as if a dark cloud was once again descending on the City of Night.
She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.
Doomed to death, though fated not to die.
Panting and pensive now she ranged alone,
And wandered in the kingdoms once her own.

A four foot tall man watched Triana from a bush.

" That looks just like Triana Westwind, doesnt it Kito?" The man with the childlike features asked. His little ferret pet squeaked with joy. The man was not a kender, more like a short boy-faced man. He carried an oak staff and wore a baggy, red tunic. He had great powers, being raised by unicorns in Darken Wood and all.

" Why is she going in there? I see she's riding Pawan. That poor beast, riding into a city like that." The mysterious man crawled out from behind the bush. He snuck into the gates and waited behind a house. He was about to jump out and suprise Triana when suddenly a dragon flew over head.

" DRAGON!" the man screamed as he ran out from behind the house. He ran into Pawan then dove under the horses legs, hiding. If your expecting a kick in the balls and you get a slap in the face, its a victory!

OOC: what...is this gonna be another meeting of friends?? hehe...well...I guess I may as well joined.

BIC: Yui strained against the chains that held her. The light had faded from her crystal horn, her violet eyes dark with misery. The Forestmaster had forbidden her return to Darken wood....saying her quest had yet to be fulfilled. She wandered ansalon for weeks, only to be caught by the forces of darkenss.

Why they hadn't killed her, Yui didn't know. She lay down, the heavy shackles cutting into her skin. She saw Arak take to the sky, and her eyes tracked the dragon's movement. Then she remembered overhearing about a plainswoman that they where tracking....

"Triana?...." she whispered, and lept to her feet. She reared, bucked and kicked, her cries as loud as she could make them....the feble light returning to her horn....creating a pale beacon that she hoped that they could see.Do not follow where the path leads.
Instead, go where there is no path,

OOC: grins- what can I say? I hate to leave my questor all alone in the world without having completed her quest. It’s not in Triana’s nature to leave a job unfinished. I’m going to wait a bit (in Jorza terms that means a few paltry milliseconds, as most of you know) to see if we can pick up the fourth musketeer, and maybe get some new characters in as well. BTW- We need someone to take on the role of the black mage Sarabi. Now there’s a guy with definite potential.

P.s. Glad you two joined in. Wouldn’t have been the same without you. Have to say it though, whatever did happen to Rion? As I recall, we rather hijacked his thread! Sorry Rion!

IC:

Triana shuddered. The hairs on the back of her neck rose. She felt the dragon-fear wash over her before jade-green eyes even sighted the beast circling above her head. Over thirty feet in length, it was all sharp claws and teeth, with acid dripping from its mighty jaws. Her heart rose into her throat, even as her quick fingers drew bow and arrow.

She could almost hear the laughter echo in her mind.
“And what do you mean to do with that woman of the plains, sting me?” the dragon mind of Arak taunted. Triana clamped her teeth together.
“I will take out one of your eyes, demon!” she shouted against the rising wind of the great flapping wings. So saying, she aimed her arrow at the Dragon’s eye, and let fly! Arak easily deflected the blow with a powerful sweep of a wing.

Pawan, suddenly and inexplicably, reared up onto his hind legs. Triana tensed her thighs against the flanks of the warhorse as the stallion bucked and danced under her. What was Pawan playing at? And then she saw it, the scuttling brown figure hiding under the mighty legs of the strong warhorse, desperately trying not to be trampled underneath the heavy hooves.

Triana screamed out in frustration. “Cease!” she yelled sharply at her horse and Pawan obeyed his mistress without question. The horse immediately stilled, standing as rigid as a stone statue. His strong fore legs locked and barred against the dragon, defending whatever creature hid beneath him. Triana rose onto her stirrups and raised a second arrow to the dragon.

“Shall we end this now?” she yelled. The dragon and its rider remained silent. “Return to your Queen”, Triana yelled out when she guessed that this had been nothing more than a 'bullying' tactic. “You will only bring about her displeasure if you take matters into your own hands”. She waited, her arms ready to let fly with the arrow should they decide to attack.

“Wise of you” she murmured as dragon and rider retreated. She let out an explosive breadth when she was once again alone. Green eyes glared at her horse.
“What the devil got into you?” she scolded. Pawan lowered his head in shame. But she knew what had caused it. Dragon fear. It had been like an acrid taste in her mouth. A chill that had locked her bones. She patted her horse. “I’m sorry Pawan”, she whispered, her hand soothing her hose. “We will be rid of this place soon, I promise you”. She then urged her horse back and ran jaded eyes over the figure that Pawan had been protecting. Her eyes suddenly lit with pleasure.

“Well wizard”, she said with a grin, “What on earth brings you to this dark corner of Krynn?”. She cast her eyes about the desolate landscape as she said this. There was blackness everywhere. A frown crossed her face as she saw the light far off in the distance. No ordinary camp fire. It was like a beacon, calling to her. It was familiar somehow...

Triana leant over the side and swung the wizard onto Pawan’s back, behind her. “Better yet, tell me on our way,” she said. She seized a handful of Pawan’s snow-white mane. “Hold on tight”, she said, as the white stallion reared and then raced north, in answer to the beacon’s call.
She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.
Doomed to death, though fated not to die.

Yui stumbled, the weight of the chains finally pulling her down. The light from the crystal horn on her head flickered, and waned. "Oh, Goddess....Mishakal...Chislev....do not let me die here....alone..." She lay her head down on the cold, merciless black stone, the soft Violet eyes closed in exhaustion."You know the term 'too close for comfort'? well....that was Damned uncomfortable!!"

Triana saw the light of the beacon flicker and die, but Pawan did not falter in his pace. They rode on. She could not say why, but something prompted her to ride on, and keeping on riding in the direction from which the light had first appeared to her.

The plainswoman had remained alive by trusting her instincts. She did not know which of Paladin’s angels acted as her own guardian angel, but he called to her now, urging her to ride on. The plainswoman obeyed her inner instinct and rode on.
She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.
Doomed to death, though fated not to die.

description-Names Tellin windglimmer dark elf banished from Silvanesti for taking on the red robes. When he was banished he went insane and is highly unpredictable most times he's a normal elves but when angered loses grip on reality and becomes quite dangerous. He has long red hair silver streaked a lean frame deep violet eyes and average height

bic-A shattering explosion rocked the earth about 100 yards from Triana smoke and flames rose up out of seemingly nothing and out of those flames stepped a lean elf wearing the red robes of a magic user. Muttering to himself the elf walked right into the path of triana and her running horse. Hearing the hooves of her horse beating upon the ground for the first time he looked up realizing his danger he muttered a few words and seemed to phase out of existence and rephase 20 feet to her left. Once again muttering to himself about the dangers of riders he sat down pulled a large book out of some hidden pocket in his robes and begain to study it.

Yui struggled to stay concious....her eyes open only barely....she felt as though the whole of the abyss was chaining her down. The sound of Hoves made her raise her head, though only a bit...

No, this cannot end this way! her thoughts ran rampant, bringing panic up in her throat, bitter. She struggled to stand, and nearly collapsed again.

She stood again with renewed strength, though where it came from, she didn't know....she felt broken....her body looked even worse....

Mane and tail torn and matted, coat dirty and filled with a score of cuts, bruises and scrapes, the once silver sheen gone. Miraculously, her crystal horn was still intact....but her spirit nearly broken....and the light faded.

"Triana! Please!" She called, rearing up, using the last of her strength to pull at her restraints. Her silver shod hoves struck at the air, her neighs sounded like shattering crystal. I wish that i could cry

Triana whirled around and caught sight of the elf, reading his book. A nudge of her thigh and Pawan skidded to halt, sending clouds of dust billowing around his vibrant form.

“You there!” Triana said, the hooves of the mighty white striking at the dirt like thunder blades as she approached the elf, sword drawn.

“Friend or foe?”, she demanded, her jade green eyes blistering a hole into the stranger’s soul. “Speak quickly elf, I have no time for niceties. I have urgent business ahead of me, and I will need all available hands!”. It was spoken with all the authority of the Daughter of Silver-Wolf.

But a friend i am i have come to warn you your friend is gradually becoming weaker go to her you have little time left i will travel beside you so make haste and worry not i can keep up."

Standing up the elf began to mutter words in the spidery language of magic suddenly appearing beside him a bright blue disc appear hopping on he motioned for the tower and was off.

Suddenly he turned back and yelled by the way my name is Tellin windglimmer nice to meet you.We do not stop playing becuase we grow old.

“We’re on our way, Yui. Hold on”, the plainswoman whispered.

OOC: Sorry Yui. We’re here now and we picked up a new friend on the way…

“It’s not a race” said Triana, caught somewhere between laughter and anger. She shook her head, setting waves of black ebony dancing down her back. Her eyes were as dark as her hair, though green in colour. They made a quick study of the campsite where Yui was held- chained to the ground. The dragon was not in sight and Triana hoped that Arak had flown to another destination and not back to the camp. She guessed that Yui was probably quite weak and not up to taking on a fully-grown black at the moment. She hoped that with rest, Yui might feel up to the task. The plainswoman still had the scrolls in her possession. (A fact that the Dark Queen was not pleased about). She knew it was beyond her skill to slay Arak. A sword could only cut so deep.

She counted six guards. Triana grinned. She nodded to the magic user by her side and pointed to the left, while she nudged Pawan to skirt the camp to the right. They would attack from two poles. They would have the element of surprise. The elf would free Yui with a spell while she distracted the soldiers. It would be almost disappointingly too easy.

She felt the blood begin to sing in her veins. She could hear the war cry as it rose in her throat, aching to be released. She kept a firm hold on the battle-lust. There had been one time she had sought to rescue a friend, she had gone berserker as the battle-lust had consumed her. Filling her with a wild mindless fire when her sword had sung in her hand and slain all in her path. That would not happen again. She was older and wiser now.

OOC: hello I would like to join your thread. Please.

Description: Silverdragon, female in the guise of a Kagonesti female ranger. She has short jet black hair with black eyes to match. She is young. She is part of a large nest of dragons and is a scout for them.

BIC: In her normal form (dragon) she spotted the beacon and went to check it out. Upon seeing the unicorn shakled she quickly finds a place where she can land and transform into her alterego Cyren, the Kagonseti elf. She heads in the direction of the beacon. Just before she gets there she stops, thinking that she heard hoof beats coming from a distance. She goes in the direction of the hoof beats keeping out of sight hoping that this could be people that she could join in order to help free the unicorn.

OOC: Hey Cyren- I like your character- welcome aboard.

There's a bit of history here and if you really want, you could quickly skim through 'Warder of Abasania' but its not anything too complicated.... basically, the three of them went into a castle with a 4th player (who is currently MIA)- and went into a castle to steal back the scrolls, which they did. Triana is in current possesion of them but can't use them because she is warrior-class and not a magic-user, like the other players..... Triana glared at the elf, and then drawing her sword, rushed into the melee. She noted that the elf had set Yui free, as planned, and was willing to forgive him his impetuous nature at the sight of the chains, falling to dust beneath the silvery hooves. She had been guilty of that sin herself, many times.

She was locked in furious battle with the guards when she noted a new figure appear from the shadows, into the periphery of her vision. Another elf? Friend or foe, Triana wondered. She tried to catch Haza’s attention but the elf was busy, fighting back the guards.

“Yui!” Triana shouted, over the sound of clashing steel. “By the trees, there’s another!”. She knew that the unicorn would be able to quickly discern if the new comer was good or evil. Yui had an innate talent for it, being a unicorn.

Tellin free from battle at the moment looked and saw a figure rushing out of the surronding woodland muttering to himself about the moronic nature of his enemies he ran to meet this new person wether friend or foe he had no idea seeing a sword in her hand though he reacted purely on impulse uttering one of the powerful powerwords he sent out a shock wave that froze everything in the imediate area looking back at triana he grinned sheepishly as he saw he had stunned her and all the enemies in site.

Slowly he walked over to triana and released her from the spell but for this new comer he still was not sure as to her intentions.......We do not stop playing becuase we grow old.

Yui stood, though slightly stunned by the spell the mage had cast. She shook her head to clear it, and walked over to the newcomer....and touched the woman's shoulder with her horn. The spell was immediately dispersed.

The mage had been correct in his assumption that the plainswoman would not be pleased. The Bearer of the sacred scrolls, Champion of the Wolf Tribe, and Honored Daughter of Silver-Wolf had never trusted ‘magic’ and now she knew why…. It was an unpredictable and unreliable entity. Muttering under her breadth, she indicated that they regroup around the newcomer. Their enemies, for the moment, were stunned. She took the moment to regain her breadth. She bowed her head in greeting to the newcomer.

“I am Triana Westwind. Questor. And my sturdy companion here is called Pawan. In my language it means the wind”, she said, laying a hand on the White stallion. She was a tall woman, with long hair, as black as ebony and jade green eyes. Her weapons were a sword, a bow and a quiver of arrows.

“My friend here calls you dragon-born- now would be a good time to tell us your story Kagnosti elf maid”.

Cyren shakes her head to clear it and glares at the elf mage. She quickly checks her sword and listens as the plainswoman speaks. Cyren bows to the unicorn and to the plainswoman.
“The unicorn speaks the truth I am dragon-born. I am Cyren of the silver dragon clan. We had sensed one of the Dark Ladies dragons around and I was out scouting when I saw the beacon in the sky. I decided to check this out and when I saw the unicorn shackled I landed as to be of some help in freeing her. Upon arriving at the clearing I saw the elf mage take care of the unicorns shackles and decided to join the fight against the ones who would hold her prisoner.”
Cyren then takes up her sword and nods back in the direction of the frozen guards, “Maybe we should finish this and speak more after.”

“Experience has taught me that there is rarely any time like the present, but you may be right,” the plainswoman conceded, turning her gaze to the frozen guards.

Her lips twitched when she beheld the mage kissing the ground and went to lend him a hand to rise to his feet. “Easy now Tellin- I am sure the gods still favor us. We would be a lost group indeed if they abandoned us so near the city of evil”. She waited for the mage to undo his spell, so that she could continue the fight. It went against her ethics to fight an enemy who could not defend himself.

“A silver dragon”, Triana mused and then grinned. “I can’t wait to introduce you to my good friend, Arak. Perhaps the next time we meet that one, we shall be more evenly matched”.

It pained her to see her friend so badly scared and wounded. It frightened her to think of what might have happened if she had not arrived in time. Noting that Cyren and Tellin were watching the guards steadily, she nodded with approval. A Silver Dragon and a Mage who had easily proved his powers. The collection of guards would not stand for long against them.

“They must not live to give evidence against us to their superiors”, the plainswoman stated. “The Dark Queen cannot yet know that it was us who freed the unicorn”.

The fighting was swift and the end result, inevitable. Triana sheathed her sword with a measure of satisfaction. She dismounted and drew a leather pouch from Pawan’s saddlebags. Inside was a tincture of ointment.

“It was gifted to me by the Shaman of Tyne. It will not restore your strength Yui, for that is beyond my power, but the herbs within will lesson the pain”, she stared into the unicorn’s eyes. “With your permission, I will apply it to your tortured skin?”.

Cyren noticing how badly hurt the unicorn was went over to the elf mage and asked, “Do you not have any healing spells that can help her?”

OOC: gonna do a bit of char control....just to speed this up, turn three posts into one ;)

Bic: Yui shook her head gravely. "No, Do not waste it on me Triana...do you still have the scrolls?" Yui moved forward when Triana nodded. "Good, un-roll the one with the deep blue ribbon with the silver edges. Hold it up."

Yui stood rock still, her horn gently touching the worn parchment. Ancient words spoken in a soft sing-song chant rolled from the unicorns mouth like water....cool and soothing. A bright silver-blue light began from her horn and spread to her body....growing in it's intensity till none could look at Yui directly.

when the light faded, and all could see clearly once again... Yui stood there, fully healed now....and in her human form. Her long silver hair fell in loose waves to her waist....her skin as pale as the Argent Moon, dusted delicately with a translucent rose on her cheeks. Her violet eyes still held their haunted look....

Her silver bangs partially hid an eight-pointed star on her forhead....upon a closer glance, one could see it was no mere tattoo or birthmark...but a pure shining, faceted crystal...Remnants of her horn.

She wore silk and leather clothing dyed in varied shades of blue....and carried no weapon.

She leaned her head against Pawan's neck, and the huge stallion sidestepped closer to her, offering his support. The scroll rested in Yui's out-stretched palm....rolled back up, ribbon tied, the seal still intact.

"Keep it with you Triana...." She said softly. "I'll be fine now....Though I am in your debt for saving me...I am quite sure I wouldn't have lasted another sunrise....I must inquire....why are you here?" She asked, looking up.I'll be right there

“Yes Yui that is a good question”, said Triana, as she replaced the tincture and the scrolls into Pawan’s saddle bags. “And for the benefit of our new found friends- I will repeat a little of our history”. Triana laid a hand on Pawan’s neck and stroked the horse affectionately. “How far back need we go Pawan?” she teased the horse. “Silverwolf always said that a story needs to be told from the beginning but I think we can skip a few chapters, don’t you?” The great white stallion snorted into the air and stamped the turf with his approval.

“The sacred scrolls were first brought to the plains by a disciple of Mishikal, during the years of the Great Famine. The scrolls were handed to my great grandfather, Riverwolf, by the hereditary Prince of the Plains, Ehlandra, for it is well known that; none is as fierce as the Wolf Tribe. The scrolls have been in the safekeeping of my family ever since and it is always the duty of the Champion to ensure that this is always so. It is to my dishonor that the scrolls were taken from our village during my guardianship. The famine came to our lands once more and my path was clear to me.

I tracked the thieves to Darken Woods and it was on the borders of this forest that I first met Yui and two others. They agreed to help me recover the scrolls. We discovered that the master behind the crime was a dark mage named Sarabi. We were able to recover the scrolls and though I fought Sarabi and remember pushing my sword through his flesh, he disappeared. It is one on many reasons why I hate and despise magic. It is false in battle. During out fight Sarabi tried to weaken me with strange occult spells and that too I cannot forget.

After the recovery of the scrolls, I went to the nearing villages to find out more of this Sarabi. It was then that I received a message from the chieftain, asking me to return to my tribe. I was met with grave news. Even though the famine had been lifted, thanks to the aid of the Shaman of Tyne, who my younger sister had gone to fetch to our aid, we were not to keep the scrolls for long.

The Dark Queen had sent her forces into the plains and she now demands the scrolls in lieu of the ransom payment”. Pawan hung his head, as did his mistress. “You see, the prisoner in the tower, deep within the city of night, is none other than the scion of Ehlandra. I must free him; anyway, I can and return with him to the plains before The Council of Elders declares war. It will be a war that my people cannot win. Not against an army of dragons. I am here without the permission of The Council of Elders”. It was a grave thing for the plainswoman, one bred deep in tradition and to who honor was everything, to admit to. “I will not let the plains be reduced to ashes by dragon fire”.

Cyren hearing the urgency in the Plains woman’s voice and moved by what had been said stepped forward. “I can only speak for myself and I pledge myself to your service. You have but to speak and I will follow.”"Like my Grandmother Annatree used to say, 'If you're going to ride a horse, you should already be sitting in the saddle when it starts to run' ".....Coraltop Netfisher

Triana mounted Pawan and looked to others.

“I ride now to the City”, she said. “I ask nothing of you that you may not wish to give. I welcome all”. Pawan snorted and pawed the ground, and then in a fit of zeal, the large white horse rose up onto its hind legs and neighed loudly into the air. It was a challenge. Who would enter the City of Night?

She knew that if Yui were too ill to fight, it would just be her and the silver dragon. And what of the elf. He had not spoken. She took his silence for a refusal.

“Looks like it’s just the two of us for now Cyren. Are you still game to try?”.

Of course I am, I was just waiting for your word to move out,” Cyren replies to Triana.

Cyren looks to Yui and bows slightly and says, “I would be honored if you would accept the humble offer of my back to ride on as I am sure you are yet fatigued.”

Upon saying this Cyren utters a few words and transforms into a jet black horse with a silver star on her forehead.

Yui looked at Cyren, her eyes unreadable. "I am still somewhat tired....I shall ride, but when we reach our destination...I will fight." She said. "I fight for Triana as well as myself....they have stolen something from me...a crystal bottle, filled with the water from the star river....such a thing should not be in their hands." She said, her violet eyes darkening.I'll be right there

As Cyren’s waited for Yui to climb on her back she thought to herself, Strange how we all seem to be connected in one way or another. I have never known these people before this day yet there is a strange familiarity about them that makes me secure and I feel as if I can trust them.

“Well we all seem to have our own reasons for being here. Myself, I am amazed at the fates and how they have brought us together and have intertwined our quests together. Mine is a quest of vengeance against one who has brought a great sadness to my nest mates and myself. The dragon called Arak has killed one very close to me and I swore to avenge him and I won’t stop until I see that one dead. I was out searching for him and had picked up his scent in this place and at the same time saw Yui’s faint beacon in the sky. I felt curiously drawn by the beacon and instead of continuing on my quest I came here. Our number is small but maybe the passion we feel toward our separate quests will unite us and grant us a strength immeasurable against our enemies.”

She looked to both of them hoping that she hadn't said anything out of line.

"how come everyone here gets to ether be a horse or ride one its not fair."

suddenly remembering something tellin began to rumage in one of the many pouchs on his belt crowing in excitment when he finally pulled something out.

"This my angels is puddle jumper!" exclamed tellin in an excited voice.

setting a minature of a half horse with the bottom section of a frog on the ground began to murmer the words to a spell watching as the figurine grew to a life sized horse tellin mounted and beamed with glee.

OOC: You’re in Charlie!

IC: Triana shook her head. “I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting the noble family”, she said, as they rode.

They were soon gazing from a crag onto the city of night.

“Alright” she said, turning to the others. “Brace yourself. The fear hits you hard as soon as you pass through the two pillars”, she said, raising a hand and pointing to the two broken stone columns. “Stick together till we get our bearings. Watch out for the denizens of this place, they infest it like rats in a sewer, and they come in all shapes and sizes”.

So saying, the plainswoman nudged the giant white horse forward, and led the way down the rocky incline towards the city…

OOC: I'LL BE THE FOURTH!!!! ALL GROUPS NEED A CLERIC OF (ponder) SIRRION, MASTER OF FLAME!!!! guess what i get for cleric powers? I'M A PYROTECHIC MUAHAHAHAHAHAH! oh, PS: My character is going to be a girl (duh!) with black hair and silver streaks, and red eyes of average height. Gray clerical type robes, with her medallion on her throat. SOrry, i'm kinda on a sugar high..

I think i shall be this "another" PS: I'M NOT AN ELF

~~BIC~~

She didnt hear, or see, the beacon right away. Her medallion glowed, and then she saw the flash. whispering words to her god, Sirrion, a flaming steed appeared. Climbing on it, she galloped towards the beacon.

“By the trees, there’s another!”

She heard, as she galloped. Stopping hastily and turning to her left (she rode around the battle) she noticed a glimmer of white, a flash or red, and the sounds of swords clashing, horses neighing, and mages casting. Her medallion glowed again, her steed dissapeared, and she ran to the battle. "By Sirrion, that's a unicorn!" Being neutral herself, she attacked both sides: The dark elf was hit by a blast of searing heat the brought him to his knees, and covered in sweat and some very nasty burns, and the three guards that attacked attacked him were hit by the same, for the worse as the magical sheild that surrounded the mage did not cover these other men.

She whispered more words into the medallion, and the unicorn rider was also burned, but not as bad. Shinare, Sirrion's mate, was fond of these creatures. The two guards fighting her however, were not spared that mercy.

She walked over to the finishing battle. Noticing how the elf was giving her death looks and the unicornrider was thinking, she took the time to speak.

"Greetings, Dark Elf, and Unicorn Rider. I am Kimasa, Cleric of Sirrion. Master of Flame. Have you also both heard the beacon's call? No normal person would come here for no reason."

Cyren’s dragon sense seemed to be going mad as it was sending signals to her brain from everywhere all at once. She knew she needed to focus inward and to get a grip or she would be useless to her new friends. In her mind she started a small chant that her gold nestmate, Aricus, had taught her, “Fear is a mind killer release it and let it flow through you and away from you.” She repeated this until she finally had control over her fear and could trust her senses again. She could tell that they were being watched but knew that she needed to focus on getting through these pillars without adding to her riders concerns as well as her own.

OOC: Thank you Kalia. I think I would have been far less diplomatic.

IC: Triana turned towards the pillars and started to whisper to Pawan.
“We have done this before, you know, we can do this again. The fear will not be half so bad because we know what to expect. Take courage from our companions my friend. To know courage is not the lack of fear, but the will to overcome it. Remember the words of the forefathers”.

Pawan’s eyes glittered in their black orbits. The white stallion tensed and soon horse and ride were leading the way between the two shattered remains of the pillars. She could feel the heat form a thousand pair of eyes boring into her back.

“Our next fight will be a battle of mental endurance, rather than testing the wit of our swords. They are Night Wraiths” she told her companions and reminded herself. “They cannot harm us unless we let them have the power over our minds. Do not let them smell your fear. Do not let them drag you into the hell in which they dwell, for in truth, I know not how to defeat such creatures”.

She turned to her dragon. “Cyren, Yui, what does ancient lore sat about these creatures, for the Dark Queen’s curse on them is as ancient as dragons".

She hoped that combined, the two magical creatures would be able to shed some light on how they might overcome their next hurdle, and then there was still the river to forge.

The River of Forlorn Dreams.

Yui thought for a long moment. "Maybe symbols of light can combat this darkness that attempts to snare the mind....Cyren...you and I should lead the group....they should follow us..."

Yui Lept down form Cyren's back, giving the dragon a chance to return to her true shape.

"Do not take your eyes off of us...think only of us...not the darkness that surrounds us." She said clearly, and shifted.

The Unicorn neighed softly, her voice like the soft singing of water over crystal. She turned, and with renewed strength, led the group on, her crystalline horn glowing brilliantly, pushing the darkness back.

OOC: sorry for the long delay.. I had an emergency situation with kids and stuff.
And yeah Kalia where do you get those great avatars?

IC: Cyren nodded to Yui as the unicorn changed to her natural form. Cyren could feel creatures out there larger and more dangerous than the night wraiths and didn’t want them to see her natural form yet, so she decided to change to her Kagonesti elf form instead.

“Yui is right about the light keeping the night wraiths at bay,” so saying she held up her hand and said a few words a ball of blue light formed in the palm of her hand.
Looking at Triana and the elf she continued, “Be sure to hold your light as high as you can elf and walk as close to Triana as you can. As Yui has told you keep your minds focused on us and the light or you will find yourselves in a void in which we will be powerless to bring you from.”

She moved closer to Yui and put her hand on her as they walked through the pillars. Hoping she still had the ability to communicate with her mind she tried very hard to concentrate on talking to the unicorn. “Yui can you hear me? Forgive my intrusion in your mind but I didn’t want to speak of this in front of the others as they have enough on their minds. I think I can feel the presence of a human out there and things that I don’t want to even speak there names of. Do you feel this as well?”

Triana was fighting the hardest battle, her fear. It was not an enemy she could fight with her sword. It was not an enemy she could see with her eyes.

This enemy was silent, and deadly.

She closed hr eyes, and let Pawan’s stolid strength flow into her. She laid a hand on his neck, tucked her face close to his ears and whispered gently,

“You must be my eyes for fear blinds me in this path”.

BIC:

She had once called him as Corwyn, my love. He used that name now, when he had lost all else save the memory of her smile, and her love.

His hereditary name was ‘Raven’ of the Hawk tribe- The Raven meaning ‘Prince’ in his native tongue.

He was the Scion of the ancient warlord Ehlandra.

The Prince of the Plains.

He felt he had done very little to earn the other titles that had been bestowed to him.
He felt he had done everything possible to dishonor them.

He paced the dark room, not knowing where he was or for how long he had dwelt there. He only knew that his only escape was death.

Corwyn turned at the sound of the metal key turning. The door was swung open and his eyes burned at the bright light that shot through into the dark pit in which he lived.

There was laughter, cruel and embittered.

“Lunch is served!” the female voice taunted. “Can I tempt the Raven to my fare?” There was female laughter. Raven shirked away from his tormentor. Cheryl was one of the Dark Queen’s lesser denizens. The red dragon had disappointed her Queen and was now paying the price by remaining his jailor for life.

“Stay away from me, sorceress”, Corwyn shouted blindly, not knowing where she was, not being able to see, so blinding was the light cast by her eyes.

“You would not say that I were someone else”, the woman taunted.

He knew that she was a dragon. Knew that the woman who walked through the cloud of smoke was her black magic at work. She had read his thoughts. She knew what lay deep in his heart. He knew the woman who stood before him, with the long dark hair like river fall and the forest glade in her eyes was not his dearest, and yet he looked on.

Cyren looked to the elf and then to the Plains woman both seemed to be dealing with the overwhelming fear as best they could. Cyren caressed the mind of Pawan gently and affectionately. Such an animal that can stand all of this fear and remain calm as to give comfort to his master…no his companion, is hard to find and worth all of ones admiration and affection.
She went over and walked next to the elf. She could see that the fear was slowly getting to him. She took his hand so that they could draw strength from each other and held her blue flame higher so as to add with the light that he had in order to fend off the waves of fear and the night wraiths. She wondered what Yui had found out there in that black void. In her mind she said a prayer to Paladin to keep Yui safe. She could see that they were more than half way through the pillars and would soon be at the end. She looked to the end of their path and could just barely make out the outlines of shapes. The infrared outline that heat makes from living creatures. One large like a horse with several others around it. She looked up at Triana to make sure that she still had her eyes closed and drew the elf slightly away from them. She dropped the elf’s hand and gestured toward the distance knowing that he possessed elvin sight
“What do you make of that elf,” she whispered. “Do you think it could be Yui?"

"It doesn't feel like her though, it doesn't even feel alive," she added.
"Yui went off to investigate a human source that she and I felt. We didn't want to alarm you as you had enough with the passing through these pillars," Cyren explained.

"Whatever it is ahead we need to find some sort of plan of escape incase it does prove to be hostile. You are familar with this place are you not Triana? Maybe you can suggest." Cyren found her voice raising higher and higher as she spoke. She was losing control of herself and this was not like her at all. The sides seemed to be closing in on her and she was desperate to find a way out. She had the elfs hand in hers and she began to squeeze it very hard as she began to feel something she had never felt before......Fear.

Hoping beyond hope that this would reach the unicorn before they reached whatever was at the end waiting for them. If Triana was right and it was a shape shifter then they really needed her help. She had been holding onto Tellin's hand when all of a sudden his hand was jerked from hers. She looked over only to be startled out of her wits.
“What do you mean “Neat spell!” you crazy elf!” she roared at him.
“Stop this and get back… She stopped mid sentence when she looked to the where the creatures were. It seems when Tellin transformed into the huge draconian thing it scared them off as they just started scattering everywhere.
