OOC: It has been said that one day the gods would walk Krynn again with their chosen champions and a great war would transpire. The war would ravage the face of Krynn, and when it was all said and done only one side would walk away. The great champions and villians of Krynn's past would face off in one final war that would determine the future of the world. I believe that it is finally time to witness that great battle. Pick your sides my friends, but chose wisely because only one side will be victorious. I will play the gods, and if someone wants to help me in that task just e-mail me and we'll discuss the plans. You may choose any warrior or villian from Krynn's past or present, and remember the war will rage over every nation on Krynn. Anyone may join as always, and just have fun because the world may not be here tomorrow.

BIC: Paladine looked over Krynn, the world seemed normal just as it had a few moments ago. He could not shake this feeling of unease that had been bothering him for some time now. There it was, in the plains of dust, a large cavern had formed. He could not see clearly for a thick fog had emanated from its opening. He looked closer, and his fears had been answered. This cavern was an opening from the abyss, and from its horrid depths spewed forth countless numbers of demons, dragons, and Takhisis's chosen warriors from the worlds past.

So the time has finally come, she has chosen her army and plans to conquer Krynn. I feared this for many decades now, it seems that our final showdown must finally take place. I must gather my army, for the final battle must now begin. The end is near.Having her as a friend is just as good as having her as a lover, but I would love to have her as both.

The door opened silently. Astinus of Palanthus paused in his writing and looked up from his journal towards the opened door. His face showed his displeasure.

"You should not be here!", his voice was firm. The mage standing before him was dressed in a red robe. His hair was as white as snow and his eyes, as fathomless as the abyss from which he had stepped forth.

He leaned heavily against a staff as he took the few steps forward that brought him to the table where the librarian was seated.

A heavy cough wracked his chest. "I am the master of the past and the present Astinus", he said in a raspy voice. "I belong in all times and in all places".

Astinus was unimpressed by the mage's words. Unlike many others, Astinus had never feared this man. He had pitied him once, and that lapse had cost dearly. Never again, the librarian decided.

It was as if the mage could read his mind. He shook his head.
"No Astinus, I have not come to ask a favour of you. I have come to warn you", the mage said, and he began to recite to the librarian all he had seen and heard that day.

OOC: The time frame will be the fourth age, before the chaos war. But since the gods can see the past, present, and future and time has no relevance to them any character from any time frame will be acceptable. Like I said, enjoy and be creative.

BIC: Takhisis had slid onto Krynn undetected, and the gods of evil had helped. Now her army was nearly complete on the lands. She now had five openings to the abyss, each at strategic locations across the map. One was in the plains of dust, another in the center of the solamnic plains. One was near the border of the silvanesti, and one near the qualinesti border. The final portal was in Neraka, to reinforce her dwindling supply of human knights in the city. Nothing could stop her this time, and with the backing of the gods of darkness she would be all powerful.

Go my children, spread havoc throughout Krynn. This world will soon be ours. Nothing can stop us, the gods of good do not know of our presence and by the time they do it will be too late. She let out a horrific laugh that chilled the bones of her human soldiers. She would rule, and now nothing could stop her.Having her as a friend is just as good as having her as a lover, but I would love to have her as both.

Darkness clung tightly around the old mage as he made his way across the stone, carpet covered floor. Whispers of death ecohed off the walls as ethrel eyes peered out of blackness. There lust for blood....warm blood to ease the chill of eternal death that had ceased them soo long ago.....but they knew it was better to hunger for blood, than face the wrath of him they watched, the emptiness where he could send them made even their dis-embodied kind shudder.

Fistandantalius leafed through an old, mouldy book. Fingering the pages, searching for what he sought. Licking his dry lips, he gripped the oval bloodstone, set in silver, the chill of age was beginning to creep its way back into his bones. He had to smirk.....he wasn't so different from those who watched him....hungering for blood.....for life.

Sighing, the Archmage sat down, bones creaking slightly. Lifting a goblet, the water cool and clean, he sipped, waiting for the Tower Master to return. To return and discuss the fate which will befall this damned world.....Come see my site : http://pub63.ezboard.com/bthedream60488

Huma Dragonbane stood in a open cornfield, eyeing the tall tower that stood not far off. He wore his battle armor and the sun's rays glistened off his breastplate. He steered his horse onward to the tower where his friend was. It was to be a joyful occasion, a meeting between two good friends.

But he could not even imagine what would happen this day. Never.

Huma knocked on the tower’s door three times. The wind cut through him and made him shiver for a second. It was too cold to be fall, but he dismissed the thought as he heard someone walking to the door."HEY! Your stepping in my dirt!"

OOC: Hmmm, this thread needs some girl characters! I'll play Kitiara, if no one minds. :) By the way, is this just like characters from all different time periods as if they are on Krynn right now (as in, 4th age)? Or are the ones who wouldn't be alive going to be transported from their own time periods or as if they were dead? I'll change this post if need be.

BIC: Kitiara stood on the highest tower of her fortress at Sanction. She surveyed the city beneath her, proud that she had survived. The war may be over, the Dark Queen defeated, but she was not. Even now the mages in her employ were working on creating a flying citadel, a legend from ages past. If sucessful, she would be granted a second chance to rule over Krynn. Suddenly, she felt the voice of the Dark Queen within her. Takhisis did not speak, per se, she simply let her presence be known. Kitiara shivered, unsure of what this meant. The feeling vanished, leaving her with a dizzy sense of vertigo. Something was not right, time and space began to feel unreal. She looked out again at Sanction, wondering what she might see....*Shut up, brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-Tip!* :D:D:D:D:D:D

OOC: Yeah, like I said, any characters from any time frame will do. The gods have no concept of time as we see it. They live in all times at once.

BIC: The gods of evil had quickly taken hold of many cities across Ansalon. With the gods leading the armies none could stand in their way, but they were not aware that Paladine and the gods of good knew of their plans and their armies marched to destroy them. Paladine had searched long and hard for a way to end this war quickly but no solution made itself present. A long war was at hand, and that is what he feared. For the first time since the all gods war would the gods walk Krynn again. Paladine had already brought his chosen warriors back to Krynn, but now he had to rally them and tell them of his plans. He sent out a mental message to his chosen.

To my loyal children, it is good that you all have returned to Krynn. But I fear that your return is not to be a pleasant one. Takhisis has rallied the gods of darkness to take over this world, and without your help I will not be able to stop her. The people of Krynn know of the plight that faces them, but your return will rally their spirits. I ask but one task of you all, travel across Krynn and build an army of light. Many will flock to join you, to defend their homes from the plague of evil. You must destroy evil where you see it, and push it back unto the abyss. I promise you all, when this is all over you may stay on Krynn if you should choose to. That is the reward I grant to my loyal servants. I wish you all the best of luck, and I will join you all for the final battle. May the light never leave you.Having her as a friend is just as good as having her as a lover, but I would love to have her as both.

He stood up....he heard the call of his Lord. Fistandantilus closed his eyes, whispered the words of the only thing he loved. His presence vanished from the tower....the shades and wraiths seemed to sigh in relief, or the nearest thing to it.

Moments later, after travelling the infamous corridors of magic, he re-appeared, standing amoungst the hoards of evil gathered by his Queen. Goblins, Ogres, Draconians.....the air was scented with power and might.....

Many fell away from him, seeing the old mage creeped slowly, not seeming to take a step...but glide over the ground...making his way to the command tent. The bloodstone gleamed brightly, as did his eyes.

Kitiara called to Skie, her loyal dragon and companion. He flew towards the fortress and landed on the battlement beside her. She began speaking before he could even ask what she wanted of him. "Do you hear it Skie? The call of the Dark Queen? Not in words, not yet at least... but fear. Something is terribly wrong, although that might not be to our disadvantage!" She added with her famous crooked smile.

Skie replied, slightly amused by her alarm. "Isn't war and turmoil always to our advantage, dark lady? Yes, I hear Takhisis, she calls even now. The world stands at the brink.... as always, we shall be the first to step off!"

Space swirled around, contorted by an ancient magic. I may have been Skies doing, or the summoning of the Dragon Queen, but it was unmistakably evil. Kitiara found herself standing on a rocky ledge, set just a few steps above a teeming hoard of draconians and evil warriors. A little distant off was what appeared to be a man, dressed in the garb of a mage. Raistlin! she thought, though she knew instinctively it was not. And yet... she skipped down the rocks and headed catiously towards him. Skie circled watchfully overhead.*Shut up, brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-Tip!* :D:D:D:D:D:D

Fistandantilus stood, the wind stirring his robes softly. His eyes turned to the approaching figure. He had no need to ask for names, he knew who this one was, he had seen and heard much of Kitara Uth Matar....very much. Raistlin's half sister....he sneered....but she was an ally(sp?), and for now she lived. Plus....the great blue was ever watchful....he didn't want to battle a dragon, as easy as it would be, but he had still not stole the youth of a young one lately, and age chilled his bones.......he would be needing his strength for the great battle.....

Raistlin watched. It had been some days since his visit to Astinus but time was without meaning to the mage. The cough attacked his chest and stole the air from his breadth. He drank deeply of his potion and the cough eased.

Caramon he thought. I need your strength my brother. Where are you? And then he saw her. Her hair was as a red flame. He watched her land the blue and found himself reaching out a hand towards her. Sister. He saw her approach another and his eyes glowed even more deeply. So you have finally risen old one. Raistlin smiled, very much anticipating that meeting.

If Caramon is my twin then you are surely my darker shadow, Raistlin thought as he watched his elder sister walk towards the mage. He had felt the older mage's presence in the tower. Even now the air was tangible with his energy. Stolen energy. Always stolen....

Raistlin raised a hand over the orb and the image shimmered and vanished. Another appeared. It was a knight. A knight of legends. Huma himself. The forces were gathering. Another image. Solace. The scene thrust a knife into the mage's heart. Home, and old memories.

He could see the inn of the Last Home. It was where the first seed had been planted. That is where I must go thought Raistlin. I must go to the inn and I must let man decide the outcome of this battle.

The master climbed to the top of the tower. The orb was no smaller than a marble in the palm of his hand yet it summoned the giant black wrym to his call. he mounted the beast. The eyes glared yet it did as he bid.

Forever during the flight, the dark queen's voice whispered to him. At first sweet and luring, and then dark and angry. Forever the whispers continued in his mind. Taunting him. Challenging him. Cursing him. Daring him to betray her again. Raistlin smiled knowingly.

The game had only just begun. She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.

Paladine had called a meeting of the gods, and all were present who represented the side of light. "It seems that they have the upper hand at the moment, but I have made a deal with one of my sisters generals. I will grant this persons one and only wish if they should aid us in our time of need."

Mishakal started to protest. "My dear, we cannot put our only hope in this person. Once before we placed faith in this person, and the result was..." her voice trailed off. She knew Paladine had made up his mind, and she had to respect his decision. But this was not what she had in mind, she thought her lifemate had found another way.

Paladine cut into her thoughts. My dear, your thoughts betray you. There is no other way, and my love for the world more than supercedes my hatred for this person. We must pray that my decision is just, and that the vision that I was granted is true. It must be done.

"All right, I agree. We must put our faith in one that we do not trust. It is the only way, we are out of allies and Takhisis grows stronger everyday. Her grip on Krynn is strong, but our armies have begun to form. The betrayal of one of her chosen will waver their spirits and tip the scales in our favor, it has to." Mishakal was not sure of her own words, but she hid her doubts behind her stoic expression.

"Then it is settled if there are no other objections." The other gods shifted nervously, but none spoke or protested. They trusted in Paladines judgement, there was no other way. "Then I will tell this person that we agree to their demands. May the light be with us."Having her as a friend is just as good as having her as a lover, but I would love to have her as both.

BIC:

The black dragon soared high over Crystalmere, it circled low and then landed with ease by the lake's shore.

Raistlin dismounted from SLAVE; for that was the name he had given to his unwilling vassal. The great black was a slave to the mage's every whim and it pleased Raistlin. He owned its mind completely, and even now he could feel the dragon rebelling.

Hooded eyes gazed over the white waters of the lake. He thought of Flint and then smiled. Old companions, he thought. Old friends. But they had shunned him now and he them. All save one. Caramon. The thought came unbidden. You are out there somewhere in this god forsaken world and I shall find you.

Caramon, thought Raistlin. You are the only one who can truly redeem my soul. The mage told the dragon to stay and began the slow trek to the village. he could smell and hear Solace before he saw it. The Vallen woods beckoned to their native son. The inn. He made his way straight towards the inn.

The smell of spiced potatoes and ale beckoned. I have grown soft thought Raistlin. His stomach actually hungered for the foul food that everyone else liked so well. He saw some children playing and his gaze hardened on the four boys. Three large ones bullying a small puny child, whose cries went unheaded. Distant memories. Cold, hard memories. They still had the power to make his blood boil.

Before they knew what had happened, the three bullies found themselves up a tree, bewildred and confused. Raistline watched the younger boy run away, tears in his eyes, bruises covering his face.

he turned and walked into the inn. Raistlin stepped through the door and then stopped. Sitting by the fire was an old mage in a dirty white robe, smoking a pipe. Raistlin smiled and took a seat by the table. A girl very much like Tikka, though not as fiesty, brought him ale and food. Raistlin ate slowly and waited.

Between the Queen's dark seductive whispers and Fizban's hot icy glares, the mage had never felt any less popular.

Soth quickly summoned his undead legion to his side, for they were going to also be key players in the battle which was about to play itself out. "Come, we too have been called by the master" calls Lord Soth to his skeletial warriors.
With the blink of an eye, Lord Soth and his undead companions stood in a great hall before the great Arch-Magus, Fisandantilus just as the remains of an apprentace was dragged from the floor. Seeing the black robed mage, Soth approaches him "The Queen claims that this will be our rally point from where we shall stage our assault upon Ansalon, and then all of Krynn." Echos the voice of Lord Soth from deep within his helm. Glancing about the room Soth takes in the view of all his allies in this battle. Throughout the room stood Draconians, Goblins and......Kitara! Lord Soth drew closer to Kitara, the torchlight being eerily absorbed by Soths armour. "Kitara, my Dark Lady." Began Lord Soth in his deep and hollow voice. "Our Mistress has called forth all of the anchinet evils from past, present and even from the whisps of the future in order to wage war across all of Krynn. I know this for fact, for I was among the first of the evil powers to be contacted by Her Dark Majisty. "To an everlasting existance in which you would be the most powerful ruler of Krynn" his gaze falling back to Kitara.
Lord Soth taking a few steps around the chamber, his heavy booted foot falls falling on the polished black marble with an sinister silence. "There is only one thing that she will not grant, but that is none of the livings concern... Takhisis chose for my skeletal legion and I to return under your command so that we can once again wreak havoc upon Krynn as we once did in the War of The Lance. Takhisis witnessed the arrival of most of her chosen. She was pleased that so many had heeded her call and had chosen to join her rather than die trying to oppose her. But there was Raistlin Majere, and a few others who did not come to her. She knew Raistlin would not join her side, after all he died trying to destroy her. There were few of these men that she could trust, each had their own desires that would be satisfied whether she liked it or not. That was fine by her, but if those desires conflicted with her plans she would have to show them the true meaning of torture. An eternity in the abyss with a few demons for company would make them learn their lesson. But she had to trust them to some extent, for the chosen of Paladine had banded together and headed even now in her direction. She transported herself to the presence of Lord Soth and Kitiara Uth Matar.

Ah, I see the two of you will work out well together again. And Khellendros, I take it you remember what was promised so many centuries ago. I have new orders for you three to follow. You are to take your armies to Solace, and bring me the heads of Raistlin and Caramon Majere. This will be a blow to the ranks of Paladines armies. If you all succeed you will be rewarded handsomely.

Just as quick as she appeared she vanished from the room, leaving the dragon, the death knight and the blue lady to discuss and carry out with their orders. She was confident that they would succeed in their mission. They would not dare to defy her.Having her as a friend is just as good as having her as a lover, but I would love to have her as both.

The door of the great stone tower opened and out popped a cheerful fellow.

"Hello there! You must be the great Huma Dragonbane that I heard so much about! My name is Tasslehoff Burrfoot! Glad to meet you, such a fine lad!" Huma stared at him for awhile in the shadow of the doorway.

"Haven't I met you somewhere before?" Huma asked as his mouth started to dry.

"Hmmm... maybe... but it wasn't my fault that time! No, Fizban brought me here. He told me to tell you something... but I have forgotten. Well, I can't remember right now, so why don't you come in and have a sit by the warm fire. Never mind that its summer. It still warms... Oh yeah! Raistlin waited in the 'relative' safety of the inn. So far Fizban had said very little to him and he had not approached the old mage himself. It had been a duel of hot glares and deeply meaningful looks which the Magius had started to grow weary of.

"Speak now old man", Raistlin muttered irritably under his breadth. "Speak now and say your piece or I leave to join the dark side (sorry, that's a bit too Star Wars!) - and you cannot afford it. For well you know that the Queen's forces are even now clawing at the gates".

Raistlin toyed with the small marble in his hand and then stared deeply into Otik's fire. With this and Huma's lance, the portals can be closed. She can be driven back. Even now when all seemed lost- there was a flickering light of hope. An image came to him, unbidden. The dark queen in all her glory and the Krynn in ruins. A premonition. A warning. He could see which way the wind was turning. The Queen's army was strong.

There was little left in this world that he held any love for. His one over-ruling passion had not diminished. Even now. In this final battle. The craving consumed his soul as always.

Raistlin rose to his feet. "You know what I want", he said. And what you deny the Queen may yet give, he thought. And still, there is always that other who craves power as much as I. Perhaps it is to him that I should turn? Raistlin grinned. True to form, he was playing a dagerous game - walking the fine line between good and evil.

With a sleight of hand, the marble vanished from sight. "You know where to find me", Raistlin said before leaving the inn.

Kitiara turned to Lord Soth, a devious smile on her face. "My two darling brothers. I haven't seen them in ages... Not that they deserve any mercy. Caramon chose good, depite all I taught him. He will get what he deserves. But Raistlin, he is something else all together. He fights for no one but himself. We would do well to deal with him first. Once he is dispensed with, Caramon will easily follow. What do you suggest?"

While waiting for Soth's thoughts, Kitiara remembered Fistandantilus. Like Raistlin, he would fight for no one but himself. She would speak with him only if she was sure she could trust him, at least to a certain extent.

Up in the clouds, Khellendros heard the Dark Queen's voice. As he circled, waiting to hear from his companion, he began to draw up plans for the defeat of Paladine's armies.*Shut up, brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-Tip!* :D:D:D:D:D:D

You are to gather the army from Sanction, leaving behind a small but sufficient force for defense. You will then head to Solace to deal with Caramon and Raistlin. I will return shortly." Nodding politely to Soth, the dark lady walked off towards Fistandantilus's tent, her mind already filled with battle plans and strategy.

Kitiara stepped through the door of the tent and searched around in the dim light. "Lord Mage?" she inquired, determined to stay on good terms. "What is it you had to say to me?" Welcome Blue Lady, I have much to talk about, but i must keep it short. You know aswell as I do the might of Paladine's army....true, for now our Queen's forces are greater...they have me for a start..., he almost sneered.....But they....they will have your brother no doubt, and he is the only one.....the only one whom I have a quiver of a fear of.

His power can match mine, wither he will best it, remains to be seen....the sources of power I can tap into reach the fathoms of the Abyss, and beyond, but he has knowledge also....luckily, the boy I have just.....well you need not know that, but i have warmth in my bones again, strength in my body....let us hopw it will be enough against him.

But I did not ask you hear to bore you with a power struggle....the Dark Queen has ask me to take on a little expedition, one that is to remain secret to but a few. However, as yet i cannot part with the knowledge, know that i will be gone within the day Lady, and i wished to inform you of it, your presence in the camp brings great wonder to alot of the officers, but i will be needing you upon my return.....that is all i wanted of you....

Slave shifted uncomfortably by the water's edge. It was just an ordinary lake the dragon told himself. It holds nothing to fear; yet the dragon knew that his apprehension had nothing to do with the lake. It was this place. It was the Vallen woods. It was the very spirit that hung in the air and pervaded the wind.

Solace...Sanctury. But not for his kind. The dragon stilled as he felt the mage's return. Slave fought once more against the power that bound his will; but it remained as strong as ever. Dark eyes cast about the lake. The dragon mind brooding.

"Stop feeling sorry for yourself", Raistlin chided. "There is work to be done!". The dragon turned and saw that the red mage had brought a companion with him. Slave studied the woman carefully.

"And who is that?", he asked. Raistlin grinned. The mage looked very pleased with himself.
"The start of an idea that may yet bear fruit", replied the mage. Raistlin chuckled to himself. I came here seeking Caramon and instead I find quite another in his place.

Raistlin had learnt over time that it did not pay to quibble over the twists of fate. He simply played the cards he was dealt as well as he could. She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.

Fizban regarded the two brothers with awe. Never in his lifetime had he seen two individuals so different, yet they loved each other even though one of them would never admit it.

"Finally the two of you have arrived, I have been waiting patiently. The final battle will take place here on the outskirts of Solace. I do not wish that the peace of this town be disturbed in this manner, but it can not be avoided. The queens allies have their sights set on Solace to destroy you Raistlin. Do not fear, my dragons are on their way and will arrive before the queens army does. She still does not know of my presence here, and it will be my duty to take care of her. The great Huma Dragonbane will be arriving with a small army soon, as will a few other heros and friends of yours. You will be outnumbered and outmatched, but do not fear for I fight with you and I have a few suprises up my sleeves."

Fizban was unsure that his ally in the dark queens army would come through, but he could not think otherwise. Only when his ally joins his forces will the army of light be able to stop the dark queens. He would deal with his sister, that he was sure of, but unless his ally would join him his armies would be crushed. His battle with Takhisis would leave him drained and easy prey for one of her generals, but that could not happen. His ally would come through.

OOC: I want everyone to end up in Solace for the final showdown, but the heroes of light should arrive first to set up and prepare the defense. And to my dear ally, wait until the time is right to reveal yourself. When the armies collide and good is nearly finished show your true colors. Raistlin grined at his brother. "Well, Caramon. I see your sense of timing has not improved any over the years".

He turned to glance briefly at the woman by his side. His smile only deepened.

"I am sure that there are no need for introductions, are there Crysanthania". The cleric stared at Caramon.

"No", said the woman. "We have been through much together already for there to be any need for that". She turned to Fizban and bowed deeply.

"I have come as bid", she said. "I help you in this Raistlin but only because you say Paladin has bid me to. He does no answer my prayers as I would wish". Raistlin smiled. He did not expect Paladin to say otherwise to the cleric. Not if the God wanted his secret kept safe.

As far as everyone gathered here was concerned, Raistlin was on the side of good. Even the Dark Queen believed this to be true. But Paladin was more devious than Raistlin had given him credit for. He had not yet voiced the name of his chosen comrade. It gave the red mage time. His most precious commodity. He thought about Kit. Was she in for a surprise! Dear sister! But I owe you - so I will send you a warning with Dalamar, my dark elf. Then I shall call the debt I owe you for saving my life when I was a babe, repayed in full.

"I fly to my tower now on Slave. I take the cleric with me. I will be gone but a day", said Raistlin. "There is much to prepare". He turned to Caramon. I know where you are now, thought Raistlin. That is all I need for now. He said nothing but his eyes were full of meaning. When the time comes, I shall need your strength brother mine.

The dragon rose swiftly into the air. Glad to be rid of the cloying stench of goodness that was seeping into the Vallen Woods with each new arrival. She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.

The great vallens would weep blood for the destruction that would be rained on them. The people would burn, crush.....death's song would sing sweetly over the slumbering town.

"And here it shall begin" echos the voice of the undead warrior.
With the blink of an eye, Soth stood in the common room of the inn, only to find it deserted, although the faint feeling of vast magical aura could be felt through the room. "He was here" muses Soth. Flint was drinking some ale and musing. He had been hoping to find some information, but no one apparently knew of this, or if they did not enough. He had wondered what to do, where to go, and wondered if Paladine would tell him. He didn't have to wait long.

So you believe me, Flint. I knew you would, my time is scarce, come to Solace, the battle draws near.

Flint almost dropped his ale. He never wanted it to be in Solace, his almost adopted home, it was were he spent a lot of times with his friends, especially Tanis. But what am I to do?, Flint thought. If it is so, then i must go, I'll meet them all there anyway.

She remained in the encampment, feeling trapped. She had promised Fistandandtilus she would wait here, but she couldn't let the battle go off without her.

Several hours later, Skie returned, clearly through the corridors of magic. He called to her, and said, "The armies are ready, they await only your call. And a means of transportation." He added sarcastically.

Kitiara rolled her eyes. "Return to Sanction. Obtain whatever ships are needed from the nearby towns, you should be able to terrorize them into agreeing. When they are on their way, return here for me. If the battle draws near and Fistandantilus has not yet returned, we will go to Solace."

Fizban, or rather Paladine, could sense much evil already in Solace. He knew the dark queens generals were nearby. Through the corridors of magic they had reached the peaceful city long before their armies could arrive. "I knew they would come, I had just hoped my generals would arrive soon as well." He did not want them to know that he was aware of their presence. This could be fun, but they would not dare attack without their armies. If he could sense them, they could surely sense him. I wil not suffer this likely, i am aware of him.....his Light will be quenched from this world....but..., his thoughts drifted to the magic, to the balance. He had always put his magic, his knowledge first above all others. The letter had been brief and to the point:

Sister,

The dagger hilt in your Queen's back is not held by my hand alone. Look to your own back Kit. You have more to fear than you realise.

He knew she would recognise his hand. Raistlin handed the scroll to Dalamar.

"Take it to her", he said. The dark elf hesitated. Raistlin grinned. "You were not so hesitant to join her the last time elf. Go now. You will have no time to tarry in her bed for the death knight jealously guards her". The mage chuckled. "And too there is Tanis- alive and well and unshackled by Laurana. No Dalamar. She will not have you again when there are others more to her liking. Go now and quickly, or I will make those chest wounds feel like mere bee stings". The dark elf bowed and then retreated into the shadows. Dalamar was soon away from the tower.

Raistlin heard a noise.
"All eyes turn to Solace and yet you come here to this bleak tower? Why?", asked the cleric. Raistlin grinned and turned to greet Chrysanthania as she stepped into the room. She did not like the tower and it showed on her face.

"There was something here that I needed to collect", replied the red mage. He stepped from the table and went to the shelf. From it he withdrew an old volume. He opened the book reverently, his hands almost shaking. He whispered the words and the blank pages were consumed with fire. The letters came to life, glowing like the embers of the forge.

Raistlin grinned. "Now I have all that I need". Inside he felt the rise of a fierce surge of jubilation. This time my Queen- you have more than just me to deal with! Fight your war with your brother Paladin and test your wits against the ancient mage- and while all eyes turn to Solace, I shall be using the back door!

He was the only man who had been through the hell of the abyss and dared to face it yet again, to meet his goal.

"And I simply come on a matter of buisiness to see the strength of your armies, I see they are rather lacking in strength which is exactly what I wanted to hear. It seems as though you will need more support that is not forthcoming. The outcome will be shown on the field. I'm sure I will see you again God" Says Lord Soth, his eyes blazing.

Soths flaming eyes fade out, only to reappear before Kitara.

"Do we return now to Solace?", the cleric asked as she boarded the black dragon Slave. "Is now the time?". The red mage only nodded his ascent.

Raistlin climbed onto the back of the beast and Slave swept into the air. If it were not for Caramon I would not have to return to Solace at all, thought Raistlin, but for my plan to work, I need my brother by my side.

The black moon had risen high tonight. Raistlin studied it. So he thought, the balance already tips and sways in the wind. Where now is the power of Lunitari? The power of Huma? Where are Paladine's gentle creatures hiding wondered the mage.

A cough wracked his chest. The cleric laid a gentle hand on his shouydler but the mage pulled away.
"Do not pity me cleric", he hissed. "I seek pity from no one". Chrysanthania dropped her hand. She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.

Kitiara jumped, startles by Soth's sudden appearance. She regained her composure quickly, however, and replied, "Skie should return within a day or so, unless he chooses to travel by the paths of magic. He is sending my troops by ship to Solace. The journey is not long and the New Sea is calm. It should only take a few days. By then end of the week we will be ready to attack." She paused, wondering whether to tell him of Raistlin's note. She decided against it. Some things were better kept to oneself, at least for a time. "There is also the matter of these forces gathered here. I don't know if they belong to any army, but it would be sheer stupidity not to use them."*Shut up, brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-Tip!* :D:D:D:D:D:D

Paladine stared down the dark mage. "You do not realize my power old one. I could destroy you without much effort, but that would not be fitting with your rival around and all. I will let the two of you decide who is the greatest mage ever. My time here is only to destroy my sister. You can see the armies of light are not that strong, but within a day our numbers will swell. Go to your queen and tell her that when her armies arrive we will not lay down and die, we will destroy her and her armies. Tell my sister that when the time comes I will pass my judgement on her, and I promise her she will not like it."Having her as a friend is just as good as having her as a lover, but I would love to have her as both.

Fistandantilus sneered. "You forget oh Great God.....you ar on the material plane....the mortal plane, you above all should know the effects it will have on your power, and do not try to blanket that fact.....even my Queen fears such...especially if her generals were to turn on her, thats why she keeps us in close watch."

Slave crested the wave and then drifted to the lakeshore. Raistlin disembarked. He held a hand and in an uncharacteristic gesture of chivalry, helped Chrysanthania to climb down from the back of the mighty black.

Raistlin looked about him. All was dark and silent and yet the air seemed to pulsate with a life of its own. The red mage frowned.

He turned to Chrysanthania. "Much has happened since our last visit", he spoke. He could feel the esence of the the evil as it still clung to the cold night air. "The old one has been here. I am sure of it. And other evils beside him".

"What of Huma and the other allies of Paladine" asked the cleric. Raistlin frowned even more.

"I do not know" he said, and he did not like the not knowing. "Come, we will go to the inn of the last home and await Caramon". She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.

Fistandantilus returned to camp, seething. His voice bellowed across the camped soilders. "We march upon the rising sun!! Prepare yourselves!!", he turned and marched to Kitiara's tent....one of the guards had the nerve to ask him to wait....a gestured hand sent the guard reeling....the other one stepped aside...he walked in the tent.

Kitiara had been sitting on her bed, contemplating her battle plans. She had never felt so frustarated and trapped, waiting for Skie's return. She heard the guard's protest from the door, and looked up sharply.

"Fistandatilus." She said by way of greeting, offering only the slightest nod of her head. "So you have returned. What is it you want of me?" Suspicions stemming from Raistlin's letter floated about in her mind, and she mentally prepared herself in case of conflict. In need of quote.

The white robed cleric and the red robed mage waited by the fire's side in the Inn of the Last Home. Raistlin sighed.

"His timing is as ever- unreliable!" said the mage. Chrysanthania did not have to ask who 'he' was. Raistlin rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Perhaps I can try this once, alone". The cleric bristled.

"Not completely alone", she remined him. The mage grinned.

"Well, perhaps not completely, my dear", said the mage. He had the book, the orb and the cleric by his side. Caramon's strength would have been an added bonus but the mage was willing to venture out with just those items.

The grains of sand were sifting through the hour glass. He had very little sand left in his own hourgalss. Time was running out. She feared no danger, for she knew no sin.

Skie had flown as quickly as he could, but he relaized he would never return to Kit in time to bring her to Solace. Thus, he called upon his innate magical powers and transported himself through the corridors of magic.

Kitiara. fretting over Fistandantilus's instructions, was startled by Skie's sudden appearance. "So you have returned." She remarked, tryin to hide her surprise at his return.

"Yes, I have." The blue dragon boomed. "The ships with your troops are speeding towards Solace, aided with favorable winds, courtesy of your wizard friends. They will arrive by late tommorow. Do you wish to leave immediately?"

"No..." the blue lady replied thoughtfully. "We will wait til dawn to see if the mage's instructions hold true. If they do not and he does not appear, we should still be able to reach Solace at approximately the same time as the troops. I would be helpless without them anyway."

Skie nodded his consent and took to the air, circling the camp and riding the strong air currents high above the clouds. In need of quote.

Raistlin laid the spell book on the table. He opened the heavy volume and studied the pages almost reverently. Chrysanthania frowned. She looked about her, worried.

“Not here Raistlin” she said. “It is too public a place”. The mage sighed. Perhaps the cleric was right.

“Very well then revered daughter of Paladin. We shall return to the lakeshore, and there I shall cast my spell”. The two rose. Raistlin looked back at the inn with regret.

His heart was sad at the loss.

IC: The sun rose, it rays scarring the black sky, shredding the darkness that had lain for soo long. He sighed at the sight. Krynn would never know another sunrise if they succeeded, but such was the sacrifice for power....for domination.

His mind whispered words that no mortal should ever know....the secrets of knowledge, the Keys of power....only one other mortal knew them as well as he did.

He returned to Kitiara's tent. "We leave Dragon Lord...now.."

Skie, noted the wizard's arrival, circled lower and landed outside the tent, waiting for instructions. In need of quote.

Dawn saw the return of Raistlin and Chrysania to the lakeshore. Raistlin studied the page in the spell book carefully and then putting the book aside, began to speak the words. Chrysania shivered slightly. Even Slave had taken a cautious step back. It was no idle spell that the red mage was casting. The mage was opening a doorway into the abyss with the aid of the dragon orb and the ancient words. The cleric hoped that she would live to tell the tale of this escapade. Oh brother, where art thou?

OOC: nice ending, but, technically it doesn't mean where a person is, i think somewhere along the lines of feelings...i can't recall now, anyways..

IC: The old dwarf plodded along the road silently. He was so into his thoughts that he hadn't noticed where he was. He looked up and smiled, on the crossroad to Solace. He picked up his pace to get to the Inn of The Last Home faster.
He had just approached it when he saw a figure that resembled Raistlin a lot with another leaving. He paid no attention to them, though. His thoughts were on the big blubbering figure just about to enter the Inn on the other side..

OOC:

Cold-blooded creatures, even Raistlin, have feelings too….sometimes…

IC:

Raistlin continued to speak the words of his spell; his mind focused on the task, his concentration absolute.

Chrysania, however, heard the name that was called out, as it carried in the wind. Caramon? Her heart swelled. She turned her head and peered into the trees. Was he there? She dared not interrupt the mage when he was spell casting. She knew that even the slightest mistake could lead to disaster; but she also knew how very much Raistlin needed his twin by his side. She was in a dilemma and did not know what to do.

Time and Space swirled around the robes of the archmage. Stars dimmed and died and new galaxies burst into dazzling life. The boundaries of the physical world lost all meaning as they stepped into a place from her darkest nightmares.

Raistlin’s smile was triumphant.
“I have returned my Queen, to your loving embrace”, he said cynically. The cleric by his side shuddered involuntarily.

OOC: I'm gonna try and speed things up a bit if thats alright?

IC: Fistandantilus had stayed behind in the camp while the army rode away, leaving several banners stirring softly in the dawn wind, a few braziers still burning. His ever hungry eyes lingered on the horizon, his ears listening....to Death's Sonet....that played silenlty to the ears of those that had the will and stomach to listen.

"And so i listen once more to you old friend......to your song that will more than likely be heard for an eternity, to never end....this battle will decide your fate...worry not, i don't intend to fall so easily...this Old Archmage is far from done, after all, I am the Greatest...."

Skie transported himself and Kitiara to Solace instantly, where they stood on a hill overlooking Crystalmir Lake. Although she didn't know it, Kitiara's army was a mere two hours away, marching through the towns north of Solace, their path cleared by terrified commoners.

"I wonder if Raistlin is about..." Kitiara mused to herself. "Wait here Skie, oir go look for the army if you so desire. I'm going to scout out the area." Skie dutifully flew off north, while Kitiara strolled down to the shores of the lake.In need of quote.

Words could not even begin to describe the abyss. Grey. Insubstantial. Inconstant. They walked a few steps and they traveled a mile. They traveled for days and only passed between the distance from one tree to the next. I would go mad in this place, if not for the mage by my side, thought Chrysania.
