The bar was fowl. That was the best word to describe it. A thick fog hung heavy in the air, smelling strongly of stale beer and exotic pipe weeds. The stench of sweat, steel, and leather was nearly overwhelming. It was crowded and claustrophobic, and the nearness of people only added to the feeling of nausea. The heat was unbearable, stifling and carrying with it the smells of the tavern. It was quite possibly, the single most hated place in the whole damn city.
Cedric frowned and wrinkled his nose in disgust as he entered the Rusty Blade Inn. He shifted uncomfortably as blood-shot eyes bore into him. He averted his gaze and gathered his green cloak tighter about his armored frame.
A heavy-set drunken man staggered past him to the door, slurping noisly on a nearly empty flask. Ale dripped from his lips and was lost in his unshaven stubble. He grinned a toothless grin and swaggered past, mumbling and chuckling to himself.
Cedric shook his head and pushed his way through the throng of smelly patrons. He spotted an empty table near the kitchen. He shoved aside a drunk dwarf and made his way to the table.
Something large blocked his path. His ran face-first into a large, well-muscled chest. He backed up a few steps and stared up into the face a minotaur.
The bull-faced humanoid snorted and placed a clawed hand on Cedric's shoulder. He squeezed but seemed a bit surprised as his hand felt cold metal beneath the cloak.
"Can I help you?" asked Cedric calmly. His cool gray eyes regarded the minotaur with grim determination.
The minotuar growled in his throat and flexed his biceps angrily.
"Yeah," he said gruffly, wrapping his hand around the scruff of Cedric's kneck. "You can get the hell outta' here. We don't need none of your kind in here!"
"What 'kind' would that be, sir?" Cedric's hand found the ornate hilt of his Solamnic sword and grapsed it tightly.
"Damn Solamnic!" The minotaur tightened his grip and raised his other hand, clutching his knuckles into a large fist.
Cedric reacted quickly and managed to duck beneath the fist as it whistled over his head with blinding speed and ferocity. But the velocity of the swing had sent the bull-man off balance momentarily. Plainly spotting the weakness, Cedric took his oppurtunity. He unsheathed the ancient blade and slammed the hilt into the minotaurs rock-hard gut.
The wind escaped the minotaur and he keeled over, clutching his abdomen. Cedric quickly sheathed his blade and stepped over the wheezing animal. None of the other parons intervened and went back to their drinks. Oddly, the fact that a slender six foot man just took down a full-grown male minotaur didn't seem to surprise them. Nothing surprised them anymore.
Cedric quickly took his seat and waited. His contact would meet him in a few moments time. He ran a gloved hand through his shoulder length chestnut hair and waited silently...Est Sularus Oth Mithas

Eliar Swiftfire entered the Rusty Blade Inn, yelling. "Ai Mer Beech von Marderfarker, Bardus Athhole! Where the hell are you guys?"

All he did was attract a few glances from the patrons of the inn. The spiky-haired mage sighed. "Damn, they probably got starring roles in other threads... i'll continue my wandering then."

He turned around and walked out of the inn.Eliar spat in rage and clapped his hands twice, ten male dwarves in pink dresses pop out from the floorboards and dance a graceful ballet.

Cedric stared quizzically at the either drunk or insane mage and shrugged as he stepped back out. Obviously not his contact. He sighed heavily and leaned back in his chair. He patted his sword reasurringly with a gloved hand. This job had better be a good one...

His thoughts were interrupted when the door burst open with such force, Cedric was surprised the hinges didn't come loose. A grizzled old man in frayed red robes staggered in, clutching a weathered staff. His eyes darted about nervously and rested on Cedric...

The mage's lips curled into a grin and he hobbled over to the table, getting a few glances from the patrons. He dissapereared within a heavy mob of people and quickly reappeared, squeezing in between a dwarf and a human. He stopped short of the table and ran his eyes over the knight at the table.

"Cedric? Cedric Caldor?"

Cedric nodded slowly and the old mage thrust out a gnarled hand. Cedric took the hand in his and the mage shook it violently. He then plopped himself down in the chair across from Cedric. He straightened his wrinkled red robes and regarded Cedric with dull blue eyes. He scratched the gray stubble on his face and leaned forward. His breath smealt of decay.

"I got a task for you, if your up to it..." he said, resting his plain wooden staff on the floor.

Cedric nodded and listened intently. The mage continued.

"This won't be an easy quest, but I'm willing to be handsomely." he sat silent for moment, then launched into his tale. "A week ago, in a small human village outside of Palanthas, a dragon was spotted."

Cedric's eyes widened at this.

"It bore no rider, nor did it wear a saddle. But it attacked the village. The only person to survive died yesterday, suffering from grevious burns. The dragon was a lone red, and the nearby townspeople have come to call it 'Sear'. It is believed it resides in the moutains near Palanthas. Now, if you can kill this thing, you'll be rewarded 500 gold, plus any money the worried mayor of Palanthas is willing to give."

Cedric pondered this for a moment. He sighed.

In the crowded bar, laughter was a common occurance, and the place was, in fact, quite noisy. The laughter that burst out from just behind the knight, however, seemed to jar everyone nearby, so loud and raucus it was. A young human man with long, unwashed brown hair returned the knight's startled gaze with a mirthful one, then grabbed the back of a chair and neatly vaulted over it to sit at the table. Amazingly, when the man spoke, it was in a sinister whisper, cold and melevolent.

"You two are quite the show, aren't you? You barging in and taking down Thrakor, then your partner here banging about in that Red cloak, and now the two of you sitting quietly like conspiritors, somehow thinking that you might be escaping sharp ears, now that all the attention in the place is on you. You are asking... for your deaths."

The last word is a hiss, cold and violent, and the man stares at the knight with dangerous blue eyes for a long second. Suddenly, as if throwing off a mask, his face splits and the man suddenly laughs heartily again.

"Oh go on and take you hand from your sword, knight! Blight, by the face you're making you'd think I was Raislin himself! HAHA oh, that got a reaction, didn't it, hehehe, just that name makes you twist, I can see it."

Suddenly, the odd person's demanor becomes more serious. "But I wasn't joking about the message... this is no place to treat on such delecate matters. We should adjourn from this establishment if we want to continue your discourse.""'If you sense danger, then at least tell us so that we can prepare!'

Jury listened carefully to every word spoken. Her long chestnut brown hair hung in one thick braid down her back. Her jade eyes lowered, her hand tracing light lines onto the goblet before her. The magpie on her shoulder preened serenly as Jury took another sip. She was dressed from head to toe in dark, somber colors...deep browns, blues and blacks. She looked up as the group discussed leaving...and she decided to follow...

Cedric regarded the strange fellow with a tense stare. He lowered his gloved hand from the ornate hilt of his blade and relaxed a bit. The old mage seem befuddled, and fished around in his many leather pouches for something.

Thank you, stranger..." Cedric said sternly. "But, what business is it of yours what I do? I highly doubt you are concerned for my well being. Perhaps you heard the part about the 500 gold?"

Cedric let a slight smile crease his solemn features. Out of the coner of his eye, a pretty young woman caught his attention. A minotaur walked into 'hell' and sat down at the grimy bar. All eyes fell on him as he gulped down his hearty meal. His sword was giving him problems and he tried to shift it to a comfortable postion. As he did he managed to tie himself up in his stool and he fell crashing to floor spillling his food all over him.

Everyone laughed at the minotaur but it didn't seemed to phase him. He got up and smiled a crazy grin at the Cedric and sat down again. After finshing his meal he walked over to Cedric with a stuiped smile across his broad face.

"Hi, I am Tasslehoff Burrfoot." He extended his large hand for a hand shake.

"Aah, give up that sort of talk, knight, or you'll just get your mind in a twist. My motivations are my own, for the moment at least. Suffice to say, I have an interest in your little undertaking, and I'd hate to see it spoiled."

Out of the coner of his eye, a pretty young woman caught his attention. With a casual glance in her direction with his gray eyes, he realized she was paying more attention to their conversation than she should have been...

Watching Cedric's eyes, the man gave another laugh. "Oh ho ho, you've finally noticed her as well, then? Do you need any more proof that this place isn't a particularly good one for this conversation?"

Suddenly the crash came, and the man looked over to see a huge minotaur extrecating himself from the remains of his dinner. The crazed beast's introduction startled almost everyone out of their wits. After a second, a grim smile crossed the first man's face, but he left any verbal reply to the knight."Eyes that fire and sword have seen,

Cedric gave the man a stern glare and jumped as a loud crash sounded. The minotaur, was indeed a minotaur. But he certaintly didn't act like one. With a sheepish grin, the minotaur strode over, his eyes fixed on Cedric's salomnic armor glinting beneath his cloak. He introduced himself as Tasslehoff Burrfoot.

At this, Cedric lowered his flagon of ale and stared dubiously at the obviously crazed minotaur. He slowly wiped the froth from his lips and tried to figure out what was so interesting about his chest...

His cloak was open. He flushed deeply and began to tighten his frayed cloak but then stopped. He wasn't ashamed. He sat tall and stroked his long mustaches proudly.

"What is it you want with me... uh... sir Burrfoot..." He said this with effort, "Surely it's a coinidence that you have the same name as the hero of the lance..." His voice trailed off as he realized. "Damn.""Est Sularus Oth Mithas"

Joomie was flying around and was a little tired. He was a Fairy one of the few males of his species he liked to go for nightly little flights at night and find some adventure. Where else can you find adventure at night except for a BAR?!

Joomie ran into the worst looking run down shit hole of a bar he had ever seen. He flew in preparing to be laughed at for being a male fairy. Joomie was used to that kind of stuff he did have Telekentic powers but he rarley used it to defend his gender. He flew in and no one took notice at him "Figures." he mumbled looking around at the dump. All the tables were crouded except for one near the kitchen with a couple a people around it. “What? Oh yes that’s right I am THE real Tasslehoff Burrfoot! That I am. That I am. Well to make a long story short. Me and this bug huggable bear named Kaz or something or other.... He said he was friends with the great Huma, but I didn’t believe a word the minotaur said. He even said that he’d never seen a kender before! Can you believe that?!” Tas stumbled again and crashed hard on the floor but kept on talking about his adventures.

“Oops! Well anyway I thought the stupid time traveling device was broken and well you see I was stuck with this so-called friend of Huma for a very long time. He always went berserk when I found his money bag! I gave it back, but still he could have been more welcome to a kender he’d never seen before. Don’t ya think? Well anyway we found this dragon’s lair right. And I decided to see the old flying worm’s tresure right. And Kaz thought it was a bad idea and he couldn’t stop me one way or the other. So he decided to tag along.

“We were in their for a long time, but we found it at last. To make a long story short we found two rings that were on a necklace and they looked very pretty. So we both took one and put it on. Well anyway we left and we found out that we changed into each other’s bodies! I thought it was pretty fun but the old huggable bear didn’t think so and tried to change us back. But we took off the rings and it didn’t work. So then we exchange rings and it still didn’t work. So he got mad and ran off somewhere, blabbing about extremities or what ever. I took the time traveling thingy to the present where I am now. Any more questions?”

A large slamming noise in the backroom startled all the patrons of the Rusty Blade Inn. Their heads turned slightly from their mugs to look in the direction of the interruption. They blinked after a few seconds and returned to their drinks. One overly intoxicated drunk glanced, then tripped over his own foot and fell flat on his face.

"Ha! You think a meager blow like that can defeat me?!"

"Don't be a fool. You know how powerful I am!"

With that, a low chanting could be heard from the backroom. It gradually grew louder, eerily echoing against the walls, emitting a tremendous energy.

Then a huge explosion and the sound of fire and pain-filled yells came from the room. Then there was silence for what seemed to be an eternity to some, yet was still only a few seconds. There were no flames or noise or light coming from the room.

An elf calmy emergered from the backroom doorway. He gathered his black robes closer around him and flipped his hood over his pointy ears and white-haired head. After glancing around the bar, pausing his eye on the Solamnic Knight, he briskly walked to the Inn's door and left the building, mumbling to himself. The Time is Near....No More Darkness...The Flames Scar the Night...The Fire Still Burns...My Future is Clear...A Date With The Devil...A Dance With His Mistress...My Path is Chosen....

As the blackrobe walked back towards the tavern, Tyran couldn't help but part his lips, half sneering, half grinning.

"That's amazing, mage, you do that act even better than I do, and I've had years to practice it. The fact that you're doing anything just for personal satisfaction does rather mar the facade, though. Geiren's fists tightened and untightened at his sides. He was particularly new to this evil, mysterious attitude and he never really tried it on anyone. It seemed his first time hadn't really gone well.

The mage walked up closer to Tyran, until his face was up against his. He thrust his hand at neck and grabbed, so hard that Geiren's hands were white and veins were popping out. He lifted the agile man with unimaginable strength and tightened his grip even more.

In a booming voice, Geiren said, "How dare you mock me... You do not know how powerful I am and how strong I can be! You dare mess with a black robe?! You will suffer for your ignorance!"

With that, he threw the man at a table, breaking it in half.

Tyran gritted his teeth as the mage snatched him, marveling at the man's obvious strength. He was admittedly relieved when Gieran tossed him, and as he backrolled he managed to stop himself before colliding with yet another tablefull of patrons. Sucking in a greatful lungful, Tyran grinned and strightned. The four bandits sitting at the targeted table were on their feet already and hands were going to swordhilts as they turned on Geiren.

"Hoi! What'ddyou doing tossing people through our drinks! Are you gonna pay for that, elf?"

"No need, no need, I'll cover it! No sense in doing a little dammage if you can't pay for it." Tyran stood just behind the ringleader, holding a small black pouch. As he shook it, testing, the unmistakable jingle of quite a lot of coins sounded from within. He drew out two pieces, then tossed the bag to the men. "You four take this with my compliments, and these two go to the keeper for the table." With that, he slung the selected pair of coins towards the bar, where they rebounded with a clatter into one of the empty mugs.

Apparently mollified, the four thugs turned and, failing to find another place to sit, left the tavern and disappeared with muttered curses. Tyran, meanwhile, returned to the group as though nothing had happened, apparently as cheerful as ever. "Well, my good knight, shall we be off before we attract any more attention? The fairy seems to be recovering and I'm sure 'Tas' here is set to go. And you may as well come and help too, blackrobe." Tyran winked merrily at his new adversary and smiled a wide grin.

"You'll be needing the reward money, considering I just gave away all of yours. You really need to conceal your pockets better.""Eyes that fire and sword have seen,

and trees and hills they long have known."

Geiren's right eye grew wide and his left eye twitched. He just stared at this arrogant fellow, gritting his teeth. Then he lowered his head and grumbled to himself, "I could have sworn I cast that thief protection spell..."

Then he lifted his head up and said, grinning, "I have said I would go earlier didn't I? I really wasn't into the money, just wanted to see your deaths, but now I guess I could use it. No harm done, eh?" He patted Tyran very hard on his back. The Time is Near....No More Darkness...The Flames Scar the Night...The Fire Still Burns...My Future is Clear...A Date With The Devil...A Dance With His Mistress...My Path is Chosen....

OOC: Hey guys I think our noble knight has been playing with his flashy toys and has no time for us little people with small brains.

BIC:
The minotaur that calls himself Tas walked into the tavern with mud dripping from all over his body. His face was completely covered in it.

"Hey guys you got to try this."

He extended a large handful of wet mud to the patrons. This made the barmaid extremely unhappy. She started chasing him with a mop in hand around the room.

"Hey, I was just trying to attract buisness!"Down in a hole and they put all the stones in their place,
I've eaten the sun so my tongue has been burned of the taste,
I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth,
I will speak no more of my feelings beneath... --Alice in Chains (Down in a Hole)

He sighed at the sight of the centaur being chased around by a mop. "Alas, if you don't go soon i think i might change my mind." He turned around and sat down waiting. He looked around and noticed the bandits leaving with a sack full of money. "Why did you give them his money?" He looked at the elf with a hard stare. I think I'll just keep my money close to me then, and if you try to steal it you will feel pain.

Tyran turned a look of pure mischief on the newcommer, as though daring him to keep up his threats ifhe wanted to have some fun.

OOC: I just want to get things thats all. The so-called Tas is a minotaur not a centaur. Not to be rude or anything. Thank you and goodbye.Down in a hole and they put all the stones in their place,
