Jadrek sighed, and shifted uncomfortably on his horse...the palimino stallion pranced impatiently as Jadrek studied the map in his hands....his blue/violet eyes narrowed in concentration.

Saia whined softly and sat down next to the stallion's hocks. "Easy Saia(Say-ah) we'll be leaving soon..." He said softly, his tenor voice rich and soft as the velvet brocade coat he wore. His long platinum colored hair nearly reached his wiast, was tied back in a heavy braid.

He tugged at the heavy woolen cloak that hugged his throat, the connecting broach was a large, nearly flat polished ruby with an etching of a rose that was filled with molten obsidian....creating his family's crest...the Drache Rose.

Though his father was a noble..his mother's name held more respect..and the whole family took it on...

Father hoped that it would help us and Uncle Touga find Adrian... Jadrek's eyes clouded for a moment...and he shook his head sharply, and promptly rolled the map. Jadrek pulled the hood of his cloak up once more and snapped the reins lightly against the Palomino's neck, and the stallion started down the trail.

Uncle Touga and Sh'Endra Kiri said that Adrian had been led to believe that their mother was dead...killed by the Wolfnari nearly eleven years ago... had it really been that long ago??

The palimino Stallion, Alrin kept an easy gait as they passed through the city gates of Sanction, he planned to head from here east, and north to Solamnia. maybe he would find a few leads on the way...

Jadrek paid the stableboy two steel to keep Alrin for the night and walked to the Inn....This was where it all started... he walked into the inn and was greeted by a few startled stares that saw the pin on his cloak and quickly looked away..fear evident in their eyes. Jadrek smiled hesitantly, his charm showing through his hansome features.

the barmaid smiled at him tenatively, and Jadrek smiled...maybe he could catch a "bite" as his uncle would say. and he tossed her two steel for a glass of wine. Jadrek settled back and wondered how he could get the girl alone...he shared his mother and father's respect for humans and their lives...

he never killed his "victoms" just took what he needed and left the human unharmed...and completely oblivious to what had happened to them...though if he was lucky he would find a "Sh'Endra" or "Sh'Enrdrali" a blood sister or brother, one who would be linked to him a friend and protector during his "weaker" moments. Saia whined softly under the table and Jaderek ordered a plate of scraps and beef and venison bones.

He sipped at the wine that the girl brought him and he looked around the tavern closely...He brushed a stray lock of platinum hair from his twilight colored eyes...seventeen years old..three years away from the final change...slender yet well built, his hand resting on an ancient sword, well made, well cared for...and perfectly at ease with it by his hand. For all those still in grievance for those events one year ago...

RalGroth Sat Near the fire enjoying a quiet pint, he had just come into the inn wishing to wash the dust from his mouth. the young man entered and sat down nothing unsual about that his meal however was a little strange, scraps of meat with some bones.

RalGroth was a strange Minatour over 7" in hieght, he carried twin Battle Axes sheathed on his back, you could only see the handles but the runes were obvious. he had red fur but had black horns streaked with grey

He was on the verge of middle age or so it seemed, he had strange values he cared for human life and he had the knack of being in the right place at the right time, and never ever try to cheat him, being split in twain was not a pleasent experience.

The minatour sat back and watched the youth without being obvious, and waite to see what happened"There is only Ten of them and 2 of us, It hardly seems fair, shall i kill myself"

((OOC: I reread the end of the last one, and it's a good place to break off. hehe. Btw, I think I have a scanner now (if I can get it to work) so I'll be sending around a piccy of Kiri finally. :D))

"Block! You're leaving yourself open!!"

"I know, I know!" Ay-kija (aye kie ja) yelled back at her twin brother, gritting her teeth as he came forward for another attack. His jade eyes were gleaming and she knew this time, it was for real. She watched his movements as he neared and let her sword fall into place, before squeezing her emerald eyes shut and bracing for impact.

Clang. His sword glanced off hers and then there was silence. She risked a peek and he was shaking. "Oh by the Stone! Are you okay, Tyme?"

He was clutching at his stomach and shaking so hard he could hardly stand up. She neared her brother, steeling herself for the sight of blood when...she was hit with a bout of laughter.

"You jerk!"

Tyme-Jenyn (time jen nine) stumbled forward, letting out laughter loud enough that the entire Valley probably heard it. Ay-kija blushed, mortified, and smacked her brother's arm.

He sobered a bit, giggling here and there, and said, "You have to admit, that was probably the best bit of luck you'll ever see!"

Ay-kija shook her head but conceded the point. "Come on, let's go find mother."

The two twins took off side by side. They were shockingly similar, they shared everything from early maturity to a brisk gait. Both had hair like their mother's, wild and dark, and both had green eyes, though his were jade and hers were emerald. Tyme took after his uncle and father in his unflappable spirit and sense of play...Kija was more like her mother, fun but less likely to take risks and often hurt by careless words or actions. The younger twin was told it had not always been so, that her mother had once gone on adventures and...

But they didn't talk about those things. They didn't talk about much that didn't have to do with the Valley or magic...though, sometimes, Uncle Nim would tell them stories...

"Mom's talking to Ayeka again," Tyme whispered. The twins came to a stop. The last time they had come up on their mother and her She'Endra talking in private, they had been yelled at. That was not something they were eager to repeat...

"Shall we listen?" Tyme asked.

His sister hesitated but curiousity got the best of her and she nodded. They crept forward. Sometimes they overheard talk of the Outside and it was just too tempting. At eleven years old, neither had been out of the Valley, though Uncle Nim and Father had argued against the point many times. Even Pan and Uncle Touga had...

"I don't understand," Kiri-koli said. Her dark hair had a few streaks of silver in it, and her eyes were in a constant state of weariness. "Why did he leave? What does he hope to accomplish?" She seemed to regret the words as soon as they passed her lips and blushed, looking away.

Kija shifted. It bothered her when her mother blushed. Uncle Nim had once told her that there had been a time when the adventurious Kiri-koli wouldn't have blushed for anything. The younger twin was secretly working towards that, wanting to be just like the dashing young vision of her mother that was firmly planted in her young mind.

"Who's gone?" Tyme whispered, poking her in the ribs. Sh yelped quietly and poked him back.

"Jadrek left a while ago, remember?"

"No," Tyme answered stubbornly.

"Shhh!" Kija said in response, watching for Aunt Ayeka's answer.

((OOC: Sorry if you planned on having Ayeka somewhere else. Let me know, I'll change it. Kiri's kids don't know about Adrian and Kiri keeps them on a short leash for obvious reasons. I'm going to make them mature for their age cuz 11 is the only number that fits but it's a bit too young for my tastes.))

BIC: Ayeka sighed...and sat back in the chair her long blonde hair spilling in loose waves over her shoulders. In the near twenty-three years they had known each other it worried Ayeka to see her She'endra so...Weary In this time her friend had aged...and Ayeka only barely...still looking just over twenty five...

"He's one year from his final change...he will cease to age from here on... Adrian has been gone from us for eleven years...too long. I fear our chances of retrieving him is very slim Kiri...." Ayeka stood, and rested her hand on Kiri's shoulder.

"Jadrek has noticed this change in all of us...a sort of resignment to our fate...but you know Jade...he's alot like I was when we first met...no task was too great, or too difficult. He took that palimino you gave him for his sixteenth, Saia and his weapons...

"We've taught him well....you taught him the ancient circle magics of your valley...I've taught him everything he needs to know to survive on his own. He can withstand the sun and go for weeks without feeding if he should need to...he's strong, and belives himself to be invincible...though it's a foolhearty combination...so was I when I was his age...I think he CAN pull off the impossible...we did once..."

Jennah whined softly and sniffed at the air. the packsong swirled in Ayeka's mind and echoed softly in Kiri's. The pups are near... Came the soft howled mental message. Ayeka winked to Kiri and smiled waiting to see what her Sh'Endra would do.

Jadrek smiled and patted the wolf Saia on her head, and tugged affectionatly on one black ear and set the bowl of scraps on the floor for her.

He leaned back and noticed the young barmaid staring at him openly, and he gave her a quick wink and she blushed as she brought over a bottle and quickly refilled his glass. He caught the sleeve to her blouse and smiled. "join me for a moment would you?" he asked. she smiled and nodded, though the barkeep looked alarmed, he made no move to stop her.

"I hope you don't mind...I have a few questions...I'm looking for a young man my age...with deep, nearly blood red hair and pale icy blue eyes... Have you seen him anywhere around here?" he asked sofly, his blue/violet eyes locked to hers...when he looked away she blinked suddenly and shook her head.

"No, M'lord...I've not seen anyone with that description b'for..." She said, lowering her deep brown eyes. Jadrek sighed and nodded, he didn't think he'd find them here...but it was worth a shot. He drained his glass and smiled at her.

"thats alright....would you care to join me after your shift?" He asked softly as he tossed her an extra steel piece. She slipped into her apron pocket and nodded shyly and Jadrek turned and slipped up the stairs to the third room, and stepped inside...and smiled as he immediatly noticed the remnants of a cirlce that was just inside the door....it was old, and fading, but Aunt Kiri's magic still lingered within the room...

He sighed and walked to the window, as small flashes of the past slipped through his mind...His mother, such terror. His father...such strength and concern....Aunt Kiri, courage and resiliancy....Uncle Touga, torn loyalty and regret....

Jade sighed and sat down, his brother's face filling his Vision..... "Oh Adri....where are you???" he whispered softly, his voice filled with anguish. For all those still in grievance for those events one year ago...

"Are you al'ight, m'lord?" Lidee asked timidly, walking slowly towards the powerful man before her, her hand outstretched. He seemed to have left this world and was ignoring her, anguish etched on fine features. Her shift was over early--despite Oro's disaproving eye--and she had crept into his room unnoticed.

She was young, barely 16, and afraid, always afraid, of the men that came into the bar, gazing drunkenly into her deep brown eyes, staring down her shirt and pinching her when she walked past. She blushed every time and the other barmaid always laughed...they had laughed her into submission, though it was still rare when she would accompany a man to his room like this.

But then, it was never like this. They were never like this. Here was power, poise and prestige, and it intriqued her beyond anything she had ever known...

Kiri-koli ran a slender hand through her graying hair and sighed. She knew she looked older, though the grey was silver and she wore it well. Her vampire heritage was keeping her young and fit, but only relatively speaking and the same magic that belayed her need for the usual nourishment was slowly killing her.

I'm tired... she thought, for the third time that day, the fiftith time that week and the millionth time that year. It was getting harder and harder to hide it and she didn't even try around Ayeka anymore. Only with the children...there was no way she was going to let them grow up in a depressed household. But they knew. They knew.

This isn't how it was supposed to be...

She banished the thought. It was odd to see Ayeka holding up better than she was. It was almost...almost like they were two parts of the same scale. In the begining, Kiri had been strong for Ayeka...and now, well...

Admit it, you're falling apart.

"The impossible," she murmured. Yes, they had, once, so maybe...

The pups are near... Her momentary hope shattered.

Kiri-koli exploded. "I do not have the time nor the patience for this! Kids, get over here!"

Tyme and Kija slinked out of the shadows, matching guilty looks on their faces.

Kiri stood over them and they cowered. "What did I tell you about listening in on private conversations? I thought I taught you two better than that!"

Kija stared at the ground, nudging around an imaginary rock with her toe. "We were...we were..."

"Just curious," Tyme jumped in, completing his sister's sentence. "After all..."

"...we never get to hear about the Outside!" Kija practically yelled, encouraged by her brother's support. Kiri frowned. "And we just wanted to know..."

"Who's Adrian? And why..."

"Enough!" Kiri-koli roared, her face turning various shades of red. "I thought you knew better, I thought you two were better than that. You get older and older all the time and I thought maybe you were growing up. Now I see I was wrong. Never, never, EVER ask anyone about Adrian again and STOP WORRYING ABOUT THE OUTSIDE!"

She broke off, adding instant guilt to her expression of purple rage. Tyme's lower lip was quivering and Kija was openly crying, her emerald eyes overflowing with tears as she struggled not to sob. Tyme reached over and grabbed his sister's hand. "Come on," he whispered, pulling her away. The twins took a few steps together, brother supporting sister, and then they ran.

Kiri-koli collasped, folding into her chair, tears running down her cheeks.Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Jadrek started, and thankfully did not react instinctively...and once he calmed himself and smiled at her gently. "I'm alright...forgive me...." he looked at her again....and laughed softly. "you shift was over quickly...."

Lidee smiled and nodded. "well then...come over here..." he said, enforcing it with a slight mental push..." he noticed her eyes unfocus for a moment and she took a few steps tward him. Her eyes cleared and she frowned. "what is wrong M'lord?" Jade smiled and patted the bed and she sat down beside him. "who are you searching for M'lord?" she asked and Jadrek smiled.

"At the moment? you." Lidee frowned and shook her head. "you're lying...who are you really searching for?" Jadrek stared at her in sudden surprise, this might be a bit difficult. "I'm seaching for my twin...he was kidnapped when we where six...I've been seaching for him...I've taken over where my parents have nearly given up...I will find him..."

Lidee nodded. "I believe you will...." she said as she kissed him lightly on his cheek. Jadrek caught her hand, and turned her head to his, kissing her a little more firmly, feeling her tense then relax slowly as she gave in both to his persistance and mental push....

He noiced her eyes flutter and close...perfect...he smiled, and bushed her curly brown hair away from her throat, and bit down as easily as he could...he didn't want to harm her. Lidee gasped in both pain and sudden pleasure...her hands clenching reflexivly around his shoulders.

Thank you Lidee....you've helped me more than you know...you've helped save my life... He sent silently to her...easing away from her gently, healing the wounds in her neck with a soft word....and he lay her back on the bed, but she clung to him, her hands refusing to let go...

Jadrek looked at her and smiled...then lay back, allowing her to snuggle up to him...as he drifted off his mind wandering...For all those still in grievance for those events one year ago...

Ayeka stood as though Kiri had lashed out at her, and not the kids. "Never...ask? KIRI!!" She cried, her twilight colored eyes wide with shock. In all these years...she had never heard Kiri loose it quite like this... "Kiri, Sh'Endra...they're not kids anymore...you can't hid them from the world forever...or the world from them!!" She shouted...her patience for her blood sister had snapped.

"what has happened to you? you've changed so much over these last few years..." Ayeka stopped, tears filling her own eyes....Children with abilities like Tyme and Kija....their emotions where raw and open within the packsong...wether they had the open ability to use it or not... "those kids love you Kiri! They have questions....think of this...say you're a beautiful golden bird...living within a beautiful gilded cage...though beautiful, and filled with everything you could ever want.... it is still a cage Kiri..."

Ayeka sighed and stepped closer, hugging Kiri in a feirce grip. "Children grow up...they ask questions...and if we don't answer them...they will seek to answer them themselves....."For all those still in grievance for those events one year ago...

Lidee snuggled against the warm body beside her, listening to the steady sound of content breathing. His was soft skin, lush and safe, a world onto her filled with pleasant dreams and an even better reality.

He was asleep, his hand entangled in her own, his cheek just inches from her aching lips. She giggled quietly, remembering how she had lingered, not releasing his slender fingers and he had stopped pulling away. She reached over now, kissing him tenderly on the cheek, as thanks for his aid in her longing.

The conscious world sat just on the horizon and she floated towards it on waves of platinum, seeing again his passion as he spoke of his brother...his courage on this impossible quest...his lips, firm against her own, then yielding as the opening of a rose...his hand against her hair, and gentle fingers on her throat...

His teeth...on her throat...

A haze of painful pleasure invaded her mind, and she twisted against the memory and against him, crying out against the bed sheets as they caught up her legs and held fast.

"But they have so much to lose..." Kiri sobbed, struggling half-heartedly against her She'Endra's grip. "I have so much to lose! It wasn't supposed to be like this! You know that, of all people you know that!! Jeno is gone so often and there is so much to do around here...they have a home here. I had a home here, when I was younger and I was happy with it! Why can't they just be happy..."

She sank down to the ground, overcome. "I have changed and I'm so scared, Ayeka. I'm so scared...I don't know what to do..."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tyme stopped pulling his sister only when he was sure that there was no one around to hear them. Then he pulled her close, letting her cry till she no longer had tears.

"Yes, I know, Kija...I know," he whispered. He was the stronger of the two, emotionally and physically. It had always been so, just like she was smarter, and was often the sensible one that stopped them from getting into trouble during their "fun".

Kija sniffled, still shaking, but no longer sobbing. She was staring at the ground and Tyme could not figure out what she was thinking--something that disturbed him immensly.

"We should leave," she said suddenly. He stared and started to open his mouth. "No, listen, hear me out." He nodded.

"You know all those stories Uncle Nim and Uncle Touga tell us? Well, what are the reasons those people have for going on those adventures anyway?"

Tyme stared at her. Kija laughed softly before going on. "They want riches, adventure, battle! Why?"

He stared some more.

"Because they want to prove something, silly!" Warming up to the topic, Ay-kija felt better and thwaped her brother over the head lightly. "They want to prove they can slay the dragon, or find the treasure. They want to prove they are the biggest, the best, the strongest. And we have something to prove now and this is how we do it."

"By leaving? Isn't that dangerous?" Tyme shook his head. It felt weird being the responsible one.

"We won't go that far. And besides, what did Pan used to say? 'Nothing is worth more than something worth dying for'." Tyme paled and Kija quickly added, "But we're not even going to be in danger. See, mom expects us to run away. It's been done in lots of stories. She'll expect it, come after us, see that we aren't going to give up and she'll have to tell us what we want to know or risk us getting it ourselves!" Triumphant in her logic, Kija bowed to her brother with a big smile.

"I dunno..."

"Are you afraid?"

"No."

"I think you are."

Tyme stuck his tongue out at his little sister. "I am not. See, I'll prove it. Race you to the Gate!"

He took off in a blur of pumping legs and she was quick to follow. It took them several minutes to reach the Gateway and cross into the unknown.

Lidee stopped fighting and opened her eyes. The memories were clearer now and they felt...wrong. Not the pain, not the violation...just wrong, like they belonged to someone else.

She sat up, suddenly wishing for a bit of dignity. It was strange, something she had never wanted before. Being shy was one thing, it was sweet, innocent...but she felt like none of those things now.

He was standing near the bed. Just standing there. What was he waiting for? Why didn't he smote her with a wave of his hand? Surely it would be an easy task for...for whatever he was. Stories came to mind, but her thoughts rebelled. Stories were just stories.

She stood, wrapping the blankets around herself and pushing her chin up high. She forced herself to look into his violet blue eyes and she saw...

Fear.

Not fear for his safety, nor hers, nor...just fear. It was incomprehensible and she could do nothing but stare.Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

"But I thank you....you have helped me though...you have helped me keep my fight for another week or so...my life depends on your people...with out them...I would die..." he pause, unsure of what to say...what exact words to choose that wouldn't send her screaming to that brute of a barkeep here....that will no doubt incite a Vampire Hunt riot here, again.

"I...I..." Lidee sat on the bed and stuttered. Her hands were shaking in her lap, not from fear but from an strange feeling...like her whole life was going to change. It was something she had never felt before...her whole life consisted of tending to her home and this tavern...but she liked it. She liked the feeling that she might never need to cater to the drunken mob again...never need to feel as though she were just another fixture in a changing world...

She lifted her chin again, and said breathlessly, "I want to know everything. And...and I'm glad. Glad I helped you. I-I would do it again!" She flushed, her smile reaching wide brown eyes.

Ayeka could feel the tension and concern....and finally acceptance... Alright...I'm going... And Touga broke his contact with his sister. Ayeka reached the gate to see Kiri in a standoff with the three wolves.

"Sh"Endra!!! Have you lost your MIND??" Ayeka practically screamed. She bit down painfully on her lip...knowing she was nearing her control limits. She knew there was no use screaming at her....for once...force may make the difference.

Ayeka reached out and pulled Kiri away from the gate, shoving her hard enough for the woman to fall to the ground. Kiri could see that Ayeka's eyes where gold now...and her hands where clenched for control of her nature...

"Stupid....you know that?" came Ayeka's ragged voice, her teeth clenched in concentration against the war within her body, the elongated canines where quite visible. Kiri-koli didn't bother to get up for a long moment.

"You want to fight me?" A disbelieving laugh. "Why? Because I want to protect my children?" She stood, lightly brushing the dust and blood off her hands. "Let me explain something to you. They are my children. They are eleven years old. They are naive and I am going to do everything in my power to protect them. You're right, it's not my life to live. But it is the lives I have sworn to protect. It is the pact I made with my children by bringing them into this world and I am, never, ever going to break that."

Her green eyes flashed. "Because if you relax for even one second...well, we all know how that story ends. You claimed they were your children too...you, I suspect, would claim to love them. But is this what you do with your children? Allow them to go off when you know they have more to lose than they could possibly gain? Oh, right, I forgot. It is." She shouldered her way past Ayeka, called back, "I'll be damned if I let you tell me how to raise my kids."

She didn't pause when confronted by the three wolves. Her magic welled within and she dared them with the blaze of her narrowed eyes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It doesn't look much different," Tyme commented, gazing up at the tall trees that framed the path before them. Kija didn't answer. She hadn't answered for a while now and Tyme had been trying to fill her silence with chatter. She was brooding, he knew. Mad at their mother, probably.

"I mean I just thought..."

"You thought what?" she snapped. "You thought there would be purple trees? Elves underfoot?" She sighed. "Come on, we have to get off the roard."

She pulled at her twin's arm and he came along, surprised by her speed. "Why--?"

Kija reached into her pouch. "Remember when we used to play hide and seek?"

"Yea--well, yeah. We still do, Kija," he answered, looking edgy.

"Use that magic but add a few rings to it. And some gold."

Tyme gaped at her as she began to shape the nessecary diagram of Dust. "But...I thought we wanted to be found."

"Well yeah," she answered, distracted. "But not yet. No...here, like this, so Mom won't recognize it..."

Tyme shrugged and set to his task, building his Circle and then intwining it with his sister's. Their bond was strong, and their magic worthy of all they had been taught.

"Okay, come on," Kija said. The spell was cast, and they were hidden for a while. She frowned, not sure it would last but it would have to do. The two took off deeper into the forest.

Ayeka flinched, and followed Kiri... "I never said we would let them go alone...I NEVER ment that... Kiri! Will you listen to me for a moment!" Ayeka growled, as Jennah, NightShade and Billy filed in behind her.

Ayeka closed her eyes, and the gates shimmered with a silvery-blue light. "I asked you to listen to me for a moment!" she said softly as her own magics mingled with that of the Valley...locking the gated so that it would take even Kiri several moments to break it.

"what I propose is that we follow them...watch them...and you'll see what I mean." Ayeka reached Kiri's side and studied her friend. "Can you trust me that far? You've trusted me further, just as I've trusted you...."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jadrek smiled, and settled back on the bed, and began. "My name is Jadrek Crane-Drache. I am a Vampire....though I am quarter human...my mother was only half. She is one of the strongest people I know...not just physical strength either." He paused and lay back staring at the celing.

"My twin brother Adrian was kidnapped by a Cursed One when we where six..." He caught Lindee's odd expression. "the Cursed Ones are Vampires who where bitten...not born. I am Pure Blood, both of my parents where nobles, both of proud vampire heritage. I grew up with a respect for human life...I don't kill humans, unless I have to...or unless they force me to.

"This Cursed One was one my Mother had fought once in the past...her story is long and complicated...I'll tell you that one sometime... He vowed revenge...and Adrian is in his hands...It's been eleven years since he was taken. In three months...on the night of the eye, Adrian and I will turn eighteen, and will enter our final change...we will then ceace to age...I fear if I do not find Adrian by then....there is no more hope."For all those still in grievance for those events one year ago...

Kiri-koli reached in the small pouch by her side and pulled out a bit of silver and gold Dust. She began to methodically spread the Dust before the Gate, guiding it with her hands till forms and symbols appeared with the chaotic grains.

She was silent as she did so, ignoring Ayeka's pleading look. When the work was nearly finished, she paused. "I am not taking the risk. Not for you, not for anything. If they must begin, and I will decide if they should, they will begin at my pace, namely with books. Nice, safe books." She calmly added the last rune, effectively breaking Ayeka's spell and guarding from further attempts, as after all, she was the one who built the Gate in the first place.

"Pan!"

A golden griffon winged down towards the Gate, his eyes filled with confusion. "Kiri...?"

"We're going after the children. We're going to get them back now."

More confusion entered the great beast's eyes. His gaze flicked to Ayeka and back. "Kiri, maybe..."

"Now, Pan."

The griffon just nodded and the mage started to climb on his back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lidee listened with rapt attention, her mouth and eyes wide in a perfect 'O'. When he was done, she managed to whisper, "I thought...I thought it was all a myth...I mean...oh, your poor brother! Is there anything I can do to help?"

Ayeka glared at Kiri, and then whistled sharply, and her Mare, NyteHart cantered up to her...a riding halter and bareback pad already in place.

"You're not going without me....maybe I can make you see reason."

----------------------------------------------

Touga urged his Gelding faster...he found the tracings of the magic that the twins used....he didn't like it, and knew that the twins where trying to "hide" but he pressed on. Nightshade had caught up to him, and was sniffing around...

----------------------------------------------
Jadrek looked at her, and smiled wanly. "My mother went through similar trials....her brother was trying to kill her....she hunted our kind, for her father killed her mother..." He stared back at the Ceiling...

"She met her Sh'Endra here....Aunt Kiri-Koli actually tried to kill her...but Kiri's compassion got the better of her...and she saved my mother's life. They became Sh'Enrdran, Blood Siblings....a bond stronger than true siblings. Finding such a human is rare...the bond between them is akin to love"

Jadrek's eyes turned back to her, their blue/violet depths nearly Fathomless. "There is the possibility that you will become my Sh'Endra...and I, your Sh'Endrali...that is, if you would choose to be...."For all those still in grievance for those events one year ago...

Kiri-koli shrugged, more to herself than to Ayeka. She swung herself up onto Pan and they took off, the griffon staying close to the ground so that he could stay with Ayeka and her mare. Kiri, for her part, didn't seem to notice.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

"She'Endra..." Lidee murmured dreamily. Her brown eyes were wide and slightly glazed over, as if she had slipped into her own world. Her fixation on Jadrek was evident now, and she seemed to drift off with that one word, into oblivion.

She snapped back into herself a moment later and smiled. "That's a beautiful story. You're life is so...exciting." She gave a small giggle and then sobered abruptly. "I want to help you find your brother," she said, tyring to effect an air of determination that came out more as a plea.

Jadrek stared at Lidee for a long moment...his eyes dark and pensive. "It's not as exciting as you would think...My mother nearly died trying to save Adrian..." Jadrek stood, and turned to stare out the window.

"My mother and her Sh'Endra met here...in this very room. Aunt Kiri had a vendetta against my people...she targeted my mother during a weak time for her. Like myself now, Mother never would harm a human...she never took more than she needed, and always left the human with no true idea as to what happened." Jadrek ran his hand lightly against the windowsil.

"Mother hadn't fed in quite a while...when Aunt Kiri came upon her...Mother was helpless...Kiri-Koli couldn't strike...she offered to help, and upon hearing Mother's story...they agreed to help each other."

Jadrek turned back to Lidee and smiled. "Pretty Ironic that we should do the same in this very room where they met." He smiled.~Everyone has a photographic memory.....it's just that some people forget the film.

BIC:

Ayeka followed Pan...her mind torn between worry for her friend, her children...and Jade. Adrian had been pushed to the furthest corner of her mind...though it had been eleven years since he was taken from her...

She remembered Tayrn's last words when Kiri's spell transformed and sent him to another dimension... " we will be enemies for Life!" Too long of a time. She and Touga had reconciled, Their Father's tyrany finally ended by Ayeka's hand...Kiri remained her Sh'Endra. She and Alucardt where joined and had Adrian and Jadrek. Things where peacefull. if only Tayrn hadn't escaped from his dimensional prison.

Ayeka bit her lip as tears formed in her violet/blue eyes... Her worry for her friends' sanity took precidence right now...Kiri's twins where fully capable of taking care of themselves...Touga was tracking them now. Jarek was nearing his final change...he was an adult now...no longer could she codle him.

Suddenly Touga Burst onto the path...his Bay Stallion keeping pace with her mare with little strain. "What is it?" she cried over the rushing air. Touga shook his head and shouted back "The little hellions gave me the slip! I can't find them!" Ayeka shook her head and urged Nytehart faster...as she drew abreast of Pan.

"Kiri!? Touga says the twins gave him the slip! They could be anywhere! We should stop and try to organize this a little better!" she cried. Pan nodded his head and turned back to Kiri..as both wondered what she would do.

----------------------------------------------------------

Jadrek and Lidee where finally ready to go. He had purchased a roan gelding for Lidee, and full travel tack and gear. He finished tightening the girth on Alrin's saddle...and helped Lidee climb up onto her gelding. Jadrek gave her a wink as he urged Alrin into an easy canter...and they continued north east...

the next town they'd stop at would be a small hearding town between Sanction and Solamnia...the rest of the way was open road and feilds. One cannot assume that something that looks like an animal isn't an intelligint person~~Nor that something that looks human is more than a Beast.

Kiri-koli urged Pan onwards, actually kicking him. The griffon ignored her, protesting, "Didn't you hear Ayeka?"

"Of course I heard her," Kiri retorted sourly. "I knew they would get lost, I knew it! Let them organize, we go on." Her tone left no room for discussion.

Pan shrugged his wings and took off, hovering in the air long enough to catch Ayeka's eye.

Lidee watched the world pass with wonder. She had never been this far from home, never been this curious about anything. With Jade at her side, the world seemed full of possibilities and things she wanted to explore...as long as Jade was with her, she knew she could see it all and do something she had never thought of before--she could make a difference, leave a dent on this--his--world.

She loved the wind through her hair, the tired yet content feeling she got from riding long into the day with Jade...she loved camping with him, watching fire, listening to the night...

They rode on, Lidee asking questions like a sheltered child. Several days into their journey, she turned to him, smiling as the gelding shifted beneath her...so warm...

An open field stood before them, stretching to the horizon. Lidee gave a wistful sight. "I love blue. Jade, why is the sky blue?" Tyme strolled through the woods, humming softly under his breath. Kija had been tense there for a while, then abruptly relaxed. Tyme had tickled his little sister for an answer until she, between giggles, said she thought their trick had worked.

So here they were, on a strange road. Tyme was hungry, and couldn't seem to stop thinking about food. Kija just seemed thoughtful.

They came back to the road after a while and discovered strange people. Kija said they were traders and stopped one.

"Yes, little one?" he asked. It was a dwarf, and an old one at that.

Kija smiled. "My brother and I...we're lost. Could we perhaps ride with you? We have no money but we would be willing to share our magic."

"We would?" Tyme looked stunned. Kija kicked him, still smiling at the dwarf.

"Hmmm...magic? At your age?" He shook his head. "Will wonders never cease? Well, young ones, I have no use for magic...but you can ride with me."

Tyme was smiling too, now as he jumped into his first wagon. Kija gave the dwarf a polite 'thank you' and climbed in like a lady. They started off down the road.

The dwarf who had let the twins join the caravan was sitting near them now, in the back of one of the wagons. He glanced up abruptly as the dark-clad man jumped from the caravan behined, landing with catlike grace. The strange man didn't seem to notice the twins, but the dwarf turned to him,

"Adrian? Something wrong?"

The tall man was about to answer when the twins gasped slightly, Adrian? the sharp-featured face glanced at them carelessly, thne froze in shock, a suprised whisper escaping his lips,

"Touga!"

Of course, it couldn't actualy be Touga - but by the Blood did they look like them! And they were Purebloods alright - or halfbreeds, rather. He knelt down next to them and looked closely at them. Could it be? Touga, with children - and with a mortal as well! Still, it was only to be expected, Touga was weak.

Adrian sat back slightly, the light catching his face and illuminating it. The man could have been a younger Touga. His deep red hair, the chin. Adrians face froze with shock,

"A..A..Ayeka? But no - it can't be she's dead. No, but - she must be, dead, dead, DEAD!"

Before anyone could react to his outburst an arrow whistled out of the darkness - headed straight for Tyme's chest. It never made it, the dwarf stared at the arrow protruding from Adrian's hand, which he had used to protect the young boy. Then the short warrior jumped up and grabbed a sword (I'm tired of dwarves with axes..),

"Come one Adrian - time for you to earn your passage again methinks."

Adrian stood up, glancing down at the twins,

"Move further back in the wagon and hide under the sheets, no-one'll notice you there - and unless I'm mistaken this is the wagon they keep the food in."

He smiled wryly and jumped off the wagon, punching a bandit with such force that he flew back into the woodlands by a good ten feet. The vampire then moved over to one side of the van, mauling any bandits that got near - though he didn't follow them. Adrian was obviously protecting the twins, much to the confusion of the dwarf who had to fend off the attack without the help of the vampire."Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Kija didn't want to leave. She was stunned and confused. But Tyme, equally stunned but scared into action by the arrow, grabbed her arm and dragged her into the wagon that Adrian had pointed them to. They hid in the sheets but not so far back that they couldn't see what was going on.

They'd never been attacked before. Their mother had taught them how to defend themselves but...stuff like this just didn't happen in the Valley.

"What do we do?" Tyme asked, nervously. He was trying not to think about the arrow.

"Wait," Kija said grimly. She hadn't wanted to run. Her confusion stemmed souly from what Adrian had said.

Tyme squirmed. "Adrian said that--!"

"Ayeka was dead," Kija finished for him. "We have to tell him that she's alive..."

"And then he'll come home with us!" Tyme crowed in a loud whisper. Kija didn't say anything. She didn't think so but she didn't want to disillusion her brother. He felt it anyway. "Kija..."

"Start preparing defensive spells, like mom taught us," she interrupted, reaching for her Dust. Adrian had been fighting for a while - protecting the wagon containing the twins. The rest of the wagon-train's drivers and fighters were gathered in groups nearby, as if the mere prescence of Adrain (who was a seemingly flawless fighter) would help them in some way. This all lead to a lot of blood nearby, eventually the Pureblood's iron control was streatched just that little to far. It snapped. were a moment ago there was a tall, amazingly strong but apparently human warrior - now there was no question. Adrain tore into a knot of bandits, long fangs glinting below slanted, red-glowing eyes - he moved with the unearthly grace and animal savagry that he had done before - but now there was no glimmer of restraint.

The Vampire tore into the bandits with an unreal savagry that sent blood, guts and body-parts flying in all directions. For a moment he reared up, his roaring head baring it's fangs in sillouette against the pale moon, blood dripping from fangs, fists and pretty much everywhere else.

Whilst Adrian charged into the bandits, one jumped from the trees as the second, rather smaller, wave hit. He jumped up on the driver's board of the twin's wagon and began a viscious fight with the driver."Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Ayeka half stood, and leaned forward in the stirrups. The Battlemare responded eagerly, and her stride lengthened. The howl of the wolves in the forest reached her ears....and Jennah's mental voice permeated her mind.

Battle! I smell the cubs! Ayeka responded only by leaning a little more forward, and drawing her sword. She caught sight of Jennah racing on beside her, before the white wolf faded back into the woods.

Ayeka came across the group, she didn't pause to think, and allowed her instincts to lead her to her intended prey. The closest bandit never knew what hit him...as he lay on the ground, torn and bleeding....Ayeka's silver sword dripping with blood. Her blonde hair flew out behind her as she brought her sword down on another bandit....

Jennah Howled allowing her song to reach the twins...in hopes of learning their location.... A ripple in the packsong made Jennah tense....and turn...there in the shadows, a grey wolf with red markings sat there....her yellow eyes locked onto Jennah... Jennah lowered her head, and flatened her ears....growling softly...teeth yet to be bared.Do you ever question your life?

((OOC: Together again? When the hell did that happen?))

The battle raged, frightening Tyme more than he wanted to admit, even to his sister. Kija sat in the wagon, her back stiff, her eyes flashing. She never looked at her brother, though he watched her...watched her for fear, but there was none. She was...a stranger.

Whimpering softly, the young boy looked back to the battle. It was nearing, but their protective spells and Adrian's skillful fighting should outlast the battle.

Then everything changed.

Tyme stared. He had lived among vampires. He had heard stories about his own heritage, had seen Ayeka and his mother together...

It was nothing like this. He could see the bloodlust, the loss of control, the wild beast that had once been Adrian...he had thought Ayeka would be so happy...a family restored...how could he bring that back to his loving aunt...

Shaking, Tyme looked to Kija. She had sat up even stiffer, if that was possible, and her eyes narrowed. She chewed on her lip, the first hint of nervous fear and as Tyme watched she...crumbled. Her posture sank, her hands fell nervelessly to her sides and she was once again a child, his sister.

"Kija...?" Who would be strong for them now? His voice seemed to penetrate the haze and she took his hand, gripping until it was white and numb.

"Come on," she whispered. "We have to leave."

"But..."

"We can't stay here with...with..." She pulled him off the wagon and they snuck around back, fighting shaking limps and holding back tense cries. "We're going home," Kija said; Tyme sighed with relief and looked at the road.

"Which way?"

"Um..." Kija picked a direction and pulled her twin along. He knew she was unsure, knew she could be wrong but he ignored the feeling for the security that came with her taking charge.

Together, they crept away, down the road, in the wrong direction.Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

((OOC: Yeah...I just didn't think we were all that close. Tis okay. :D))

Pan scanned the area, his golden eyes barely able to focus on the terrain. He was so tired...but he wouldn't stop. Not as long as Kiri wanted to keep going.

The mage was wide-awake--overtired, as it was. She hadn't blinked in several minutes, not even with the wind in her eyes. She had to find them...they were everything...

The gold and silver griffon banked. He had been following Ayeka for a while, then had broke off to the north. Now he subtly turned back that way, hoping that Ayeka would be able to talk some sense into her She'Endra...

Kiri-koli was in no shape to notice the change in direction. She was determined, if necessary, to search every field and forest, every lake and town. Her magic let her see everything from her aerial viewpoint and she would search everywhere for her children.

Pan sighed in relief when he spotted Ayeka. She seemed to have stopped to partake in some small battle. And there...another vampire?

Kiri's green eyes had spotted the battle as well and she made no objections as Pan winged down to the ground. Ignoring the combatants, and Ayeka's look of pure amazement, Kiri headed for the wagon and nearly fell to the ground when she discovered her children's magic Dust strewn about the wooden planks. With a quick spell, she surmised that the twins were no longer in the immediate area...but they couldn't be far...

"Ayeka...the twins, they were..." she broke, seeing her She'Endra's expression for the first time. Ayeka was staring at someone and Kiri panned her gaze to behold a grown vampire just coming out of an incredible rage...

"Adrian?"

No! It was too much of a coincidence! It couldn't be...

Blood pounding, the mage reached for her Dust and rounded on "Adrian". "Where are my children?" she demanded, her voice little more than a hiss. Adrian was, against all odds, oblivious to the presence of his family around him - still trapped in the swirling battle-lust of his rage. He battered down the first man on the wagon's driving board, and was about to take down the second when something appeared behined him, yelling or screaming something about children, assuming in his rage it was a bandit or a hysterical wagonner he kicked out sharpley - sending whoever it was falling back off the wagon. Before he could turn and deal with whoever it was or resume his attack on the bandits on the wagon - the horses decided they had finaly had enough and galloped off.

The wagon sped off, Adrian still fighting the bandits on board like a bezerker, in the direction the twins had taken. Leaving Kiri picking herself up from the ground here Adrian's reflexive kick had deposited her."Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Kiri-koli picked herself off the ground, and quietly dusted off her silver robes. She stared after the wagon for a moment and then surprised herself by growling.

Well...not really surprised...

She had taken his actions as an admission of guilt and a further commitment to keeping her children from her.

Makes things easier, no?

"Pan?" Kiri called calmly. The tired griffon winged to her side and watched her warily. "Let's fetch us a vampire, shall we?"

The griffon looked at Ayeka and Touga while Kiri climbed aboard, hoping they would know what to do even if he didn't. But then they were airborn and it was too late.

The speeding horses were no match for a flying griffon and Pan manauvered in behind the wagon in no time. "Take him, leave the others," Kiri ordered. This battle was no concern.

Waiting impatiently for his opening, Pan followed the wagon closely and then grabbed the raging vampire's arm with one set of claws. Adrian struggled, of course, and Pan strained to hold on, barely managing to get his other claws around the vampire's waist. "Higher!" Kiri yelled. Pan obeyed reluctantly, pulling the squirming vampire into the sky.

Ayeka screamed and lept onto Nytehart's back...the mare reared, then bolted forward.... "KIRI!!!! NO!!!!!" she screamed, tears filling her eyes, rendering her nearly blind.

Touga reacted as quickly as Ayeka, following his sister closely, his own concern and fear sending adrenaline surging through his blood.

Jadrek turned again in his saddle...and this time, fear filled his eyes. "We're going back!" He shouted, feeling the packsong wash over him.... He had no Idea how far it was...but if he went that way...he might have some clue as to what was going on.

The raging vampire struggled as the griffon raised him up off the wagon. Not that he was aware of what it was, only that it had blood in it's veins and that it had attacked him. With a roar the rage settled even further in, blood gushing freely from the great talon-wounds in his chest, wounds that would have killed a mere mortal.

With an almightly wrench, Adrian tore himself from the talons, grabbing the griffon's leg with one hand. Tendons twisted painfully as he fell, but years of hate and pain had strengthened him beyond belief, he held onto the griffon's leg by more force of will than anything. Then he looked up and saw Kiri's face, recognition cutting through the haze of the rage, a terrible roar leaving his lips,

"You!"

With an animal roar he wrenched himself away from the griffon and let go, falling down towards the ground below. Images from the cradle flashing across his mind's eye, images of the woman on the griffon, and of a man with red hair, and of his........................mother."Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Kiri-koli swore. "Pan!" The griffon dived. He had tried to not injure the vampire the first time around, but in free-fall it was going to be much more difficult...

Adrian was failing in the air, though he had yet to give any semblence of paying attention to...anything. Kiri didn't take time to ponder it. She held on fast to pumping wings as Pan pulled up even with the falling vampire and attempted to grab at his waist. "Stop struggling, you fool!" Kiri yelled, straining over the wind and the blood pounding in her ears. The ground shot up at them like a bat out of the Abyss and for a moment, the mage knew fear.

They were going to crash.

Headlong into the earth...

Pan barely had a grip on one arm, and blood slattered with ripping claws. Twenty feet...fifteen...

With an inhuman cry, the griffon flung Adrian upwards, trying to cancel some of his collected acceleration, and then pulled up. The three of them hit the ground, Pan taking the brunt of the fall, Kiri rolling away stunned, and Adrian...Adrian hit and bounced like a ragdoll...

The mage was the first to recover. Checking for sounds of breath from her companion, she somehow convinced herself that he would be okay. She pulled a small knife from her silver robes and made her way through the brush to where the vampire lay on the ground. Heaving him on his back, not even checking if he was alive, she placed the knife to his neck and growled.

"Where are my children?"Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Adrian lay on his back. The figure of the mage appeared over him, he stared at her with dead eyes, his chest unmoving. A silver knife was produced and waved in the direction of, what was to all appearences, a corpse. Silver. Silver?

With an amazing speed Adrain came back to apparent life, his fangs baring as his eyes stared up at Kiri, a glimmer of recognition appearing before they faded into a burning red. His arm shot up, grabbing a hold of the mage's knife-wrist and holding it steady. Then the vampire looked dead at Kiri, his teeth elongating as he growled a single word,

"Hunter.""Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Kiri-koli didn't flinch. He wouldn't be dead. He couldn't, he still had to tell her about her children. His hand around her wrist was frigid, his eyes burning. He saw everything and he saw nothing.

"Hunter," he said.

"Adrian," she replied. "You are weak! Letting go to your instinct. Look around you! Those who you have not seen for half of forever stand before you now in awe. They lied to you, said she was dead, I know they did! And you believed them. You lost hope and now you've lost yourself." A disgusted expression danced behind her green eyes. "I care nothing for you until the lost child, Adrian, once again graces us with his cursed presense. But know this, I will find my children. And you will tell me what you know."

Her left hand was busy in her pouch, spreading Dust and her lips now moved to the tune of a spell of binding. Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Adrian's eyes flickered, as if he was thinking hard, even through the bloo rage. Then he began to mutter something,

"He said she was dead. He said they killed her....the Wolfnari. He lied, I know - I could tell. She told me though.....the dust....beware.............the dust."

He eyes flared up and he snarled at Kiri,

"You! You! Traitor..............................You...killed............"

With a mighty roar Adrian rose up, flinging the mage off him, scattering her dust and interupting her chant,

"You call me weak? You know nothing, NOTHING!"

He turned around and began to walk off calmly, all trace of the Beast gone from his voice as he muttered a strange half-chant,

"I saw two who looked like a woman in white, I would have taken them to a dell - but then I saw the beast who dwells there. They were running when I saw them, now I understand, they were running From, not To.""Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Ayeka had pulled away from Touga with a rough shove. "Ayeka! No! He's not the son you once knew!" He cried, reaching for his sister in vain. Ayeka raced to meet Adrain. "Adrian!!!" She cried, ignoring all around her...vainly trying to reach her son.

"Adrian! I'm here! Don't Go!" she cried, stumbling blindly through her tears "Gods please no!" She sobbed, her sword falling where her nerveless fingers let go of the silver blade. She stopped before her lost son...her golden hair nearly violet in the combined light of the silver and red moon. Her eyes searched imploringly for some sign that he saw her. "Adrian...my son...Adri" she sobbed, holding out her arms.

Jadrek rode hard...half tempted to use some of the magics that Aunt Kiri had taught him...though to create a Gate, it would take more time and energy than he really wanted to use right now...though his hand strayed to the blue velvet pouch at his waist....feeling the combined magics of his mother and aunt within.Do you ever question your life?

Adrian pulled up short, his blood-red eyes glowing softly now, his voice sibilant and quiet - the Beast all but completely submerged. He stared at the ghost in front of him, his vision clouding over faintly. No! He was too weak to face the murderer now, he would be patient,

"You will be avenged, wraith, and then you will trouble me no more."

He turned and strode off, a glance back at Kiri held no malice or venom, he clearly deemed her unworthy even of his hatred.

"You will pay Hunter. They have a special place for Traitors at the Dark Gates.""Ah, they have a cave troll....."

"Adrian! No! what have they done to you?" she cried as Touga stepped behind her.

"Open your eyes Adrian...your mother stands before you...flesh and blood... Yes, she nearly died that night in the fight with the Wolf-men....but she survived! We all have been searching for you! That Bastard Tayrn will pay for this treachery!" Touga hissed, staring at his nephue.

-----------------------------------------------

"Lidee Stay here with the horses....I can travel faster alone!" Jadrek yelled, as he lept off his horse, and knelt in a small dirt clearing beside the road. His hands moved quickly...making the circles like Kiri taught him...but adding all the magics that his mother taught him....

The words fell from his lips like crystaline water....smoothly. The dust fell to the ground with each word...runes appeared in a blue ring, then in a scarlet one....as the last words fell from his lips, they fuzed and burned with a violet fire. when the flames died, a Platinum and silver griffon lay curled in the center of the circle.

Jadrek stood, looked at Lidee once, then launched himself into the air, his flight ten times faster than his horse. He continued south.

------------------------------------------------
OOC: I guess I'll have to take over Tayrn.

Tayrn paced, his fury so palpable that the servents steered clear of his chambers. "Where could he have gone?" he hissed, turning to a black mirror that hung on the wall behind him. a pool of dark water lay beneath the mirror. Tayrn pulled at the silk that swathed the mirror, and let it fall to the floor.

He reached down, dipping his finger in the pool, though it wasn't water that coated his finger, but blood. He stood facing the mirror, and traced a rune on it.....and it flared to life.

There in the mirror, he could see Adrian, speaking to a dark haired girl....Tayrn snarled as he regognized the silver mage known as Kiri-Koli. Standing before Adrian was the woman that Tayrn had sworn vengence. She was crying, seemingly pleading.

"What else?" He snarled....

The mirror's image split in two....one showing a platinum and silver griffon...the other showing a pair of dark-haired twins. "Ahh....those must be the brats of that mage....I owe her as much as I owe that half-breed bitch..." He snarled....

Wait...... Came a soft, disembodied voice. The mirror's image wavered....and within the mirror a man appeared...he had long blood red hair, and peircing ice-blue eyes....the spitten image of both Touga and Adrian....

"What m'lord? I told you we must wait another two weeks before the rite can be performed....before that and your power will not be complete..." Tayrn said softly, lowering his eyes.

Lord Drache chuckled. Ah, as impatient as I am for that rite...it is not that which i want to speak of....those twins....The children of that mage....they would be perfect servents....contact my grandson....he is to capture them...any way he can

THe image wavered and the image of Lord Adrian Drache faded, leaving Tayrn alone. Tayrn smiled, not a pleasant sight. He cleaned the mirror carefully, and swathed it agian in the black silk. he turned, laughing. "Beware kiri, our revenge will be complete....and you all will die!" He sneered.Do you ever question your life?

Dearest, I fear...

She is out of control, her anger...it will fuse with her soul and we will lose her...

The soothing sound of his mate's voice echoed through Pan's mind.

Do what you must...help her, not only in finding her children, but in finding herself...

I fear only Jeno could do that at a time like this, he returned mourfully.

Then stop her...

Pan shuddered. He had never before used magic against the mage. They had been together since the begining of their time...but this little family "reunion" was chaotic enough without Kiri's rage. And so he stopped her murderous advance on the lost twin and watched wearily for this to play out. So little hope...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lidee cowered. Jade had left her here...here alone with only the horses! Alone in the middle of nowhere, where there are wolves and rapists...monsters and thieves...

She whimpered. The sun was at its zenith and slowly sinking. Would she be here, alone, helpless, for its collapse? Would she starve in the cold nights?

Feeling panic, Lidee ran towards the forest, only to run back to the horses. She heard voices, real or imagined and ducked behind her tiny mare. The voices resolved themselves into something coherant and came closer...

"I think we're going the wrong way..."

"We are not!"

"But I don't recognize this..."

"Of course, you don't! You won't know the Gate until we're practically on top of it. Now come on, I hear horses..."

The voices stopped and Lidee slowly came out of her hiding place, gazing around at the open clearing.

"Why, hello."

Lidee screamed, jumping at least three feet in the air at the small voice at her feet. It was a child. She saw a glimpse of green eyes before the child disappeared into the hiding space she had occupied only moments before.

Another child came into view, shaking her head. A spitting image of her brother, the obvious twin walked slowly forward. "Sorry my brother scared you..."

"W-w-who are you?"

The twin stopped and the other came forward, giving a shy smile. "I'm Thyme and this is my sister Kija...are you lost?"

Lidee nodded, not trusting her voice. The twins nodded.

"We are too. Maybe we can help you..."

"...find the nearest town? If you let us ride with you, we'll..."

"use our magic to help!"

Lidee looked back and forth between them. "I was supposed to wait..."

"Here?" They blinked together.

"I-I..." Jade couldn't have meant for her to wait here. "guess not?"

Adrian stood there, stock still, for several long moments, then his harsh voice broke from his cold, dead lips,

"You. Left. Me. For. Dead!"

The last word accompanied a blow of monsterous proportions that sent even his powerful mother flying backwards, crashing into Touga and sending both vampires sprawling some distance away. Adrian tunred and leapt up into the trees, standing for a moment or two on a road bough as he adressed the immobile Kiri Koli,

"I saw two children this night, who were most likley yours. They seemed scraed somehow, confused and running. I thought to seek you out and return them, bu now I see the source of thier fear, and what they were running from. You accuse me of giving into my Beast - I can control mine, you ,it seems, are unable to. If I do come across these twins again, rest assured that I will seem them cared for, and that they live without harm or suffering. Obviously, that means I'll have to keep you away from them - the gods only know what you'd do to them if you'd set on a passing stranger just because your kids finaly worked up the courage to escape from you."

With a final snarl, Adrian tunred and was gone without a trace - dissapeared into the woods either by magic or guile - whichever it was, he left no trace."Ah, they have a cave troll....."

Ayeka lay on the ground...her gaze locked onto the constellation of Gilean...the scales of balance. She couldn't believe it....it was all for naught...She rolled to her side, and curled up, her knees to her chest, tears falling silently...

Touga watched Adrian leave...his blue eyes filled with sorrow he shook his head, and turned to Kiri. "Gods help us now....We've lost him." Touga turned to his sister, and knelt by her side, having nothing to say, he simply stayed there, his hand gripping her shoulder tightly.

A rustle of wings made Touga look up, and was greeted by a pale griffon, with platinum and silver feathers. It landed, and the moment it's claws touched the ground, a silver mist swirled around it.....when the mist cleared Jadrek stood there, his eyes dark and fearful.

"Mother?" he murmered, staring at her. His gaze turned to Touga, then to Kiri. "What happened here?"Do you ever question your life?
