Shaziroth
08/01/2002 9:23 AM

Shaziroth sat in the Wet Whistle Inn. Keeping to himself and his hood low when he saw something out of the corner of his eye. His tall and stooped figure, along with his black robes kept conclement much harder

Raising his had and muttering something about 'missshaped woman needing their revenge' he called for a drink.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT, a sliver and very mean looking throwing knife hit the chair next to him... then suddenly no less that 5 hooded and cloaked figures emerged.

'Hand over the ring, or another wench gets it!'

Shaziroth raised his hand, the fire bugs casting a glow over his deep blue skin, a experiment gone awry.

So quick was the words he mutterd and the fire that shot out of his hand that all five strings hit the assassins who had come for his treasure.

'might as well find some new company' the black robed mage mutterd.

Avalyn, cleric of Mishakal, strolled down the street, swinging her beaten up old quarterstaff in the same manner as a kender might swing a hoopak. Those who observed the half elven woman might have thought she had kender blood in her for her happy-go-lucky manner and outgoing nature. But for as far back as she could trace, Avalyn was half human and half Kagonesti, not a drop of kender, gnome, or gully dwarf to be found. Granted, she'd been raised for a time by kender parents, and felt a certain affinity for the so-called children of Krynn. But her own personality was a unique mix of human, Kagonesti, and kender.

She wore her light brown hair in a long ponytail, slightly reminiscent of a kender topknot. Her sapphire eyes stood out in her typically elven face, with fine bones and pointed ears. All in all, she wore her haphazard heritage openly, for all the world to see. On her shoulder sat her pet squirrel Squidget, a sign of both her eccentric nature and her wild elven affinity for nature.

The evening was closing in, and Avalyn began to look for a place to pass the night. "The Wet Whistle Inn." She exclaimed out loud. "looks good to me, what do you think, Squidget my dear?" The squirrel responded by chattering and waving its paws wildly. "I'm glad you agree." Avalyn replied. With that she stepped forward and swung the door open, just in time to see a black robed mage shoot fire through several other robed figures. "Looks exciting." She thought. "I can always use some more excitement." She muttered as she took a seat not far from the mage. She settled in for what she hoped would be an entertaining evening.“We pity him. We hate him. We fear him – all because there is a little of him in each of us, though we admit it to ourselves only in the darkest part of the night.”

"Eeek! Assassins!" A patron in the inn shrieked.

His head was lopped off immediately.

SPLAT!

Blood splattered on the wall.

An old lady sitting in the cornerof the inn waved her arms. "I tell fortune! I tell fortune!" she cackled. "Blue-robed figure come, make observations, then go POOF!"

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA the black robed mage laughed at the patrons unfortuneness, and at the fact he just burnt his enemys like the cookies in this inn..

Seeing whom he was looking for he smiled, and walked towards the new elf.

'Avalyn I presume? I must speak with you.... NOW!!!!.' He yelled not out of anger or impatence, but of what turmoil was transpiring inside of his head.

Something then happend, he heard voices, but he thought HE was only HEARING them, not speaking them aloud.

'your nothing but a fool.'
he was speaking in whispers, but everyone could hear him.

'you have what you want, give me what I need! You wont last longer, you need to wreak the havoc and chaos that you promised. You promised that I, the new god, would reign supreme. What happend? You wanted to become a god, and I gave it to you!'

I WANTED FULL GODHOOD YOU BASTARD! I AM BUT A LESSER GOD, A FLY TO YOU, I AM NOT IMMORTAL!!.

'Ahh but you are, just keep that ring on your little finger... tell you what, if I give you FULL GODHOOD, what will you give me?

I will give you a body, the body of whoomever you wish, excluding me!

VERY WELL!!!!!!

Blue light came from the hells, shooting up towards the heavens, and Shaziroth collapsed.

Before he lost consiseness he whisperd. "Avalyn,I...must....speak....private.....take.....to.....my...room.....number...3

Avalyn stared blankly at the mage lying at her feet. She wondered how he knew her name, but that didn't worry her too much. She'd met many people in her travels, and her memory wasn't what it used to be. That is, if it was ever any good to begin with. She turned to Squidget, who waved his paws frantically and looked upset. Hmmm She thought, That's usually how he tries to tell me to be careful. Of course, thats also how he tells me that he thinks I should eat raspberry cheesecake for dessert instead of pumpkin pie. She shrugged, almost knocking the poor little squirrel right off her shoulder.

She bent down to pick up the mage and carry him of to his rooms. She thought he's said number 3.... or maybe it was 5, she wasn't sure. Well, only one way to find out. She half dragged, half carried the unconcious mage towards the guest rooms. After opening the door to room 5 and shocking a Solamnic night in the process of taking a bath, she found her way into room 3. She sat down in an old rocking chair in the corner of the room, and left the mage lying on the ground. I suppose I should move him onto the bed. Can't be good for his back, lying like that. But then those sheet's are such an unattractive shade of green, reminds me of something.... With that she was quite lost in her own daydreams, forgetting both the mage lying on the floor and the frantic squirrel hopping up and down on top of her head.“We pity him. We hate him. We fear him – all because there is a little of him in each of us, though we admit it to ourselves only in the darkest part of the night.”

Shaziroth woke with a start, resulting in a painful neck injury and thoughts of hurting someone.

Seeing the one he wished he spoke.

'Avalyn I need something from you.' he gave a dry smile. what you must do, is important to every living being in this world.'

He hissed in a breath

I need you to become my bride...

Dante looked back at the mage who killed five assasins.

'And hear I thought they came for me.' Dante went back to his meal ignoring the cleric drag the mage up-stairs. Then another man in a black cloak came in.

"Who killed these people?"

"The mage is up in his room."

"I don't belive you!" The man ran up to him a dagger at his throat.

Dante smiled, "Please this is so sad." The man mad a slight gasp as Dante's poisoned kukri entered his stomach. The man fell back on the floor. Dante put his kukri away and brushed the air behind his dark pointed ear.

Sir Garion Knight of the Rose was enjoying his bath relaxing he had been in the saddle for more days or was it weeks than he cared to think about, his dog sleeping soundly at the foot of the bed was tired as well, it had cost him an extra coin to have Basil in his room but he did not let his closest companion far away, then the door burst open there was a strange woman carrying a black robe she stood there momentarily and then left she did not even close the door! he looked at his dog, his dog looked at him as if to say you can close the door yourself.
With a groan he hauled himself out of the bath closed the door and proceeded to get dressed. he stood in fron of his sheild the next best thing to a mirror, 6"1 tall Dark Hair Blue eyes Clean shaven wich was strange for a knight. he buckled on his sword and thought that he had better go and see if everything was alright judging by the noise they had gone into room 3 so up he walked with his dog at heel and politly knocked on the door."There is only Ten of them and 2 of us, It hardly seems fair"

Avalyn was speechless. Not for the first time thet evening, she stared at the mage with her mouth wide open. After a moment she began to speak. "Now just a second. First question, who are you? Second questions, how do you know me? And third question, why in the Abyss do you want me to marry you?" Avalyn's voice gradually changed from one of increduality to one of deep interest. She was not the type to stay shocked for long. Now she was just hoping she could get the whole story out of the mage, being as he looked like he might drop dead any second.

She was about the launch into another round of questions when a knock came on the door. She got up and answered it, quite surprised to see the knight she'd just walked in on, albeit this time full dressed. "Well hello!" She greeted him in her usual friendly manner, "Whatcha here for?"“We pity him. We hate him. The black robed mage expected this, however and sat up.

'When I was working on expanding my powers I came across a book. This book had a spell that would incantate a god, you would be able to hear and see the apparation for a short length of time.' He expected her not to understand any of this, however.

'I began reciting the spell, and I was halfway through the repeated verse on the secend verb when my most bitter enemy came in. You do not need to know his name, I believe....'

'He cast a spell on me. Our two spells collided. My bringing the gods a "body" clashed with his cone of cold spell. Resulting in my skin....... I fell unconsious.' He spoke with a horrible smile. The few who do see it wish they never do again.

'When I slept I saw the future. I saw a clerk of Mishakel with a squirrell on her shoulders, enter a inn. I waited, and all the while assassins would kill every clerk who worshipped Mishakel, traveling from town to town. It was maddness.'

'But the gods in my head began a battle, all having their own ways to give me power. I was but a very low level mage then. Bhaal, the god of murder won the reights to my body and soul. That was not supposed to happen.'

'He told me if I wrought chaos and havoc he would give me godhood. I killed everyone in the town and he gave me godhood. He began more promises of power, and I killed more and more... but he gave me nothing.'

'It turns out I was but a lesser-god. These forms of gods may die, but in a certain way. It is my ring.'

'If you become my bride, you will have immensible healing powers. So strrong they will be, people think YOU are a god. And.... I..... I will have enternal rest, the gods in my head gone. I do not seek power anymore.'

'I cannot take of this ring however, as is I would rot in the abyss. A...... safety precaution from the gods.......'

Shaziroth responded to Avalyn's questions just as she opening the door to greet the knight. She spun around and listened to his story. When he finished, she looked from the mage to the knight and back again. She wasn't quite sure what to say. She felt deeply as if something was not right, as if their had to be a catch to what the mage offered her. She waited to see how the poor knight, walking in on a rather odd scene, would react.“We pity him. We hate him. Sir Garion Stood there not sure what to say he had heard what the mage had said, he could see the confusion or was it interest he was not sure on the womans face."Pardon me my lady My Name is Sir Garion Knight Of The Rose I was inquiring to wether you were alright and if you or the mage wherein need of any assistance?" He Looked down at his dog because he could hear him quietly growling and he could see his hackles were up, he sensed from his companion that all was not quite right, He said Quietly"Basil Lie Down". "Assistance? You come in here, see a dying, raving lunatic on the floor and a batty cleric talking to him, and you're brave enough to offer assistance?" Avalyn asked, laughing. "Well, since you offered it I'll take it, although I don't really see what you can do."

Just then Squidget the squirrel jumped off Avalyn's shoulder and ran to investigate the stange new creature that had just appeared. Squidget scurried around, sniffing Basil and chattering at him. The dog stared back at the squirrel, then uttered a low growl. Squidget did a back flip, then ran back to hide behind Avalyn.

"Oh that's just Squidget." Avalyn said to Sir Garion. "Don't mind him. Now then, what do you say we do with this mage? Or rather," Now she turned to address the mage, "What exactly do you want me to do? You tell me to marry you, thats all well and good, but I'm still confused ad to why. And as to what possible good this could do for me."“We pity him. We hate him. Dante finished his meal and went up the stairs so he could finally get some sleep. He saw that one door was open and he needed to go buy it in order to enter his room. Dante shrugged and started for room number one. He walked by slowly and quitely only to be noticed by a dog. He took a quick glance in the room and saw the mage that had killed the five, the cleric who helped him, and a solmanic knight. He figured he could con some money out of these people plus he wanted to know why the mage was attacked.

"Mage." Dante said as he came in past the knight, "One of your friends attacked me. I want to know what that hole mess down there is all about!" Dante was ready to kill anyone of the three if he had to. "Do, or do not, there is no try' -Yoda "Empire Strikes Back"

In the darkness a figure travels alone its appearance hidden in a dark hooded cloak. Moonlight hit her face as she walks slowly down the road playing her wooden flute. Zatan, some have came to call her, sees the Wet Whistle Inn ahead of her. Being a traveling bard an Inn was always a welcome sight. She stop outside the door, stopping the music as well. Her body was in need of food and some rest as well. Searching her pouches she found a few steel coins and with a nod she looked at the door.

"Well this looks like a good place to stop for the night and maybe I can find some traveling companions," she said with a yawn. Putting her flute away she walks through the door.

Zatan walks up to the bar has she removes her hood revealing her half elven features. With a charming smile she tosses her shoulder length brown hair and starts to speak to the man behind the bar, "I am in need of a room and some food." Shaking her bag of coins, her hazel eyes fixed on the man her smile broadens "Do you have any rooms left for the night?".

"This 'evil man' as you call him, Revered Daughter, serves a goddess as powerful as Paladine-Takhisis, Queen of Darkness! Or perhaps I should not say serves," Astinus remarked with a wry Smile. "Not of him...."

'FIRST!' Shaziroth roared

'Knight, no one needs your chivelry. Take your self and go back to your room. I believe we never asked for assistance, why? BECAUSE WE DO NOT NEED IT!'

Second...hehehehe.

A cleric not wanting to help? You saw what happend. I am 789 years old. I want sleep, and once a woman has become my bride, my evil powers will become that of good, and transferd to you. I dont doubt you understand that the spell working is a powerful one, not atainable or readable to someone other than one of power.

And finally he mutterd...

If you opend your eyes fool, you would have seen the 5 bodies downstairs, dressed exactly the same way my "friend" was... I presume? Why are you vexxed??? You still alive, that is, if you dont treat me with respect again.

Avalyn watched Dante curiously. She realized he probably presented some sort of danger, but she figured Shaziroth could deal with him. He was, supposedly, a demi god of some sort. If need be should could always use her own powers, or bash him on the head with her quarterstaff. It didn't occur to her that she had forgotten the beaten up old stick down in the main room of the inn.

She considered Shaziroth's word's. If what he'd said had been true, and that was a big if, then there didn't seem to be any drawbacks to his offer. She was always eager to help people out. However, she couldn't help feeling a little wary. It all sounded a little too perfect. Like everyone ends up happy in the end, no catch, nothing.

She decided to watch to see what Dante would do.

Zatan was given a key to room number 4 which had just become freed up.
Looking around the room at the dead bodies, she decided to take her food and bottle of wine upstairs.

She wandered up the stairs singing a happy tune when she heard a man shouting from the room before hers. Slowing down to take a peek she saw a man in a black robe, obviously a mage, barking at the others in the room with him.

I bet that was his handy work downstairs! Zatan thought to herself.

Just then she realized that a dog was barking at her as well bringing some unwanted attention to herself in the process. Not wanting to be yelled at or fried by some grouchy Black Robe Mage, she ducked out of the sight of the dog but stayed within earshot if the conversation. She had heard enough of the one sided discussion already due the mage not keeping his voice down. Standing in the hallway and taking a swig of her wine, she awaiting eagerly to hear the rest of it. This is great material for a story!

Garion Stood there more than a little insulted, and bemused. he had offered help the woman had accepted but the mage had told him that he was not needed.
he was about to ask Avalyn wether she still wanted his help when this idiot burst in past him demanding answers to what had happened downstairs he had a dangerous glint in his eye, he had the look of someone who was about to do something stupid, The knight was about to clonk him on the back of the head to take him out of this tense little situation when basil let out a Quiet warning bark, garion looked down the hall to see a woman duck into a room Not wanting to alarm the situation further he took note. basil padded quietly down the hall to Investigate.
Garion looked back to the room where he said in a firm tone" good sir using a tone like that and bursting in uninvited can get a man killed, if he IS NOT CAREFUL! do you not agree?" placing his hand on his sword to be ready just in case things start to get a little messy. Dante took a quick glance at the half-elf and then turned to the knight making note that his dog went after the women.

"I doupt that I am a 'Good Sir' knight and I wouldn't worry about me getting killed from what I heard this mage saying he can still be killed and you and the cleric are mortal so if I moved right you all would be dead." Dante took a short pause, "But I do not intend to kill any of you. Unless you provoke me to. Now if this mage fells that I am a fool and not worth talking to I shall leave."

Dante turned not a very wise move but a move he felt would make at least the knight and cleric drop thier guard. He wasn't sure if he should turn and throw his dagger or keep walking. Dante then decided he would be like the half-elf and spy on these three or at least the mage and cleric. "Do, or do not, there is no try' -Yoda "Empire Strikes Back"

Zatan stood in the darken hallway listening to the voices within. Getting a little tired she slide her back down the wall and procees to eat her dinner. As she looks towards the door she notices that she is now face to face with a growling dog. In a effort to make pace with the not so friendly dog she offers him a piece of cheese. The dog sniffs the air and starts wagging his tail. Zatan throws the cheese. In one gulp it is gone and the dog tilts it's head begging for more.

Well there goes my dinner! But if it makes the dog happier, I guess it's fine she thinks with a sigh.

As she continues to feed the dog, she hears one of the voices saying he will leave and with that she raises up quickly. This time the dog doesn't bark it only looks at her. She slowly backs into the shadows at the same time hoping the dog will return to his master. By the sounds of the man heading out she would rather not be seen.

Hiding is one of her better skills but it dosen't always work well when indoors. Only a short distance away from her own door, she starts to wonder if she should make a dash for it.

She decides against it and hopes for the best. As she closes her eyes she thinks to herself Zatan, what mess have you gotten yourself into this time? Black Robed Mage, Crazy Cleric, Solamic Knight and the Gods only know who the other man is!

Avalyn had to wonder what the strange man was up to. After all, he'd just walked in, threatened them, and then abruptly decided to leave without getting anything out of the encounter. Well, it wasn't her problem. Her better judgement told her to leave the mage behind and head off to her own rooms, perhaps in the company of the rather handsome Sir Garion. But she'd never followed her better judgement before, and she wasn't about to start now.

"Alright, mage." She turned to address the black robed man still on the floor, though he'd now managed to pull himself up to a sitting position. "I have a bad feeling about your offer, and usually I follow my feelings." She didn't add that the feeling she was getting now was rather like the feeling one got when one drank too many dwarf spirits, and that her usual reaction to that was to tak some headache powder and go to sleep. Although that remedy just might work in this situation too.

"But I'm willing to help you out, if you tell me exactly what it is you require of me. Oh, and also," she added, feeling quite superior now that she was telling the mage what to do. "In your situation, I would take any help I can get. This gallant knight has offered his aid, and it looks like you could use some help just to help yourself up onto the bed." She turned and winked at Sir Garion. Despite her odd mannerisms and eclectic fashion sense, she wasn't an altogether unattractive woman. She waited to see how the mage would respond to her answer.“We pity him. We hate him. We fear him – all because there is a little of him in each of us, though we admit it to ourselves only in the darkest part of the night.”

Maybe he has some other motives, and that could be the start of an adventure. Any ideas?

OOC: Maybe Shaziroth was being used by some Dark Mage who has designs on taking over the area...so the voice in his head was the mage but Shaziroth was slowly going mad because of the mage taking in his head.... so Shaziroth thought he was taking to a Demi-God...well..it could happen! Ahh forget it..sound like a bad movie! I have no ideas..it's late here and time for bed..I hope someone else is more helpful! Sorry!

Hey, it wasn't bad. An eviler mage controling Shaziroth's a good idea. Maybe the knight has some quest of his own to pursue. That could make things a little more interesting. “We pity him.
