Du'Kuli raced through the woods with the grace of an deer and the speed of the four winds. The storm had grown violent and the thunder mingled with his thoughts as tears streamed down his face. The moon shimmered on his newly formed blue skin. He could feel the rage of the storm flow like a rampant river through his veins, it exhilerated him. But the memories of the lastest events pounded in his head.

The air elemental within the innocent elf screamed for release, but none came. The mage....that black robe mage....he did this to him. The air elemental had been fused with Du'Kuli in the mages twisted experiment to create a new being....surprisingly the experiment worked with great success or so the mage thought. It was tortue to him. The raging elemental tried to get out....it was trapped and used all its strength to get out to no avail.

In the fear of what happened Du'Kuli had exploded in a surge of power that the mage couldn't handle. He killed his creator and then ran from the fortress after blowing a hole in it. He continued to run and run. The elemental did give him some advantages though. Although as an elf his agility was great...it was further enhanced by the fusion.

He stopped to catch his breath....he had no idea how far he had ran. It was a good distance. His speed was incredable...his strength and endurance....he could feel the air around him as though it was a living entity....his shoulder length blue/purple hair hung, drenched in water. His dark eyes still teared....saw only blurry images. His head pounded and ached. He collapsed and the moon light slowly dimmed from his vison.

DawnFire stared down at the fallen elf from the tree which she pearched. The Vale was only four candlemarks away (((OOC: candlemark-one is about one standard hour...candles are made that measure the hours with marks made in them. as the candle burns down to that mark, one Candlemark, or one hour has past.))) Dawnfire, member of a Plains tribe known only as the Hawkbrothers, was an adept mage, as well as a scout. She leaned forward, her hands gripping the branch below her feet.

Her long hair fell loosely around her shoulders...feathers and beads braided intricately through it. her hair was odd too, various shades of brown, with what looked like white birds dyed into it. the truth was, her hair was actually white, she dyed it for her work as a scout. The huge Vorcel-Hawk that was perched to her right was also white. The work with the Heart stone and the Magic nodes had "Bleached" them both. Her eyes where blue, where most hawkbrothers had brown or black eyes, again due to her work with the powers in the Heartstone and the nodes.

Her clothes where made of fine silk, but so intricately made, that if she did not move, one could look right at her and not truely see her, but see the leaves and folliage of a tree. she unslung her bow, and dropped to the ground silently.

//intruder! drive away?// came Treyvan's eager mental reply. Dawnfire shook her head slowly. she didn't know what to make of this stranger, but he ceartanly wasn't here to invade the Vale.

//no, Trey...don't drive away...this one needs help...I cannot turn away someone who is hurt, no matter the Laws.// She knelt near the elf, and gently rested her hand on his shoulder. Her mind sought out a lay-line of power connecting the nodes. She delved deep and raised the power about her, intricately weaving spell sheilds, layering them so that nothing would get through them. She again reached out and used some of that energy to feed it to the fallen elf...so that he could awaken. In time you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and

Du'Kuli began to awaken from his faint. His head still pounded and ached but not as severely....he looked up and squinted his eyes as his vison was still some what hazy. A woman...clad in the garb of a barbarian woman stood over him....a bird nearby. "Who are...y..you? Where am i? The master...THE MASTER IS HE HERE?!" The sheer terror in his voice startled the woman.....no the master wasn't here You killed him remember....

The realisation brought some relief to him.....but the images still darted about his mind....the elemental had quailed for now....it had too been exhausted from its constant attempts of escape.

"Please.....if you mean no harm.....help me up?" Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,

Dawnfire had backed away from the elf at his outburst. She recognized the language, and after muttering something softly to herself, she switched to it.

"Ofcourse..." she said softly, reaching out for his hand. "I am Dawnfire....You have strayed into the lands of the Tale'sardin...The HawkBrothers. If anyone else had found you...they probably would have killed you...you are lucky stranger." she said, raising her leather clad arm. With a flutter of wings, and a screech, Treyvan landed on her arm.

The Vorcel hawk was quite large, wings spanning five feet. the feathers of a normal vorcel would be a pale gold, with darker markings. but Treyvan's feathers where pure white, with pale grey markings. To the trained eye, one would notice that Trey was larger than normal Vorcel Hawks, his head a bit larger too, this was because the Hawk brothers bred their bond birds in such a fashion to enhance their intelligence.

She turned to him and frowned. "what are you doing here anyway stranger?" she asked, her blue eyes narrowed. In time you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and

He averted his eyes from her. "I....i ...well you see....i suppose i should start from the beginning. My name is Du'Kuli....i'm an elf....obviously....i come from silvanost. A couple of years ago i was....taken out of the night by a black robed mage....how he even got across our borders i don't know...but...he started conducting experiments on me....he attemted to fuse two beings together....

" Eventually after many.....many.....painful failures he succeeded......tonight.....he finally figured out how to do it successfully, so he combined my essence with that of an air elemental....the process was....most unsettling.....he practically ripped both our beongs apart and then joined them together again."

"From what he has told me in the past....the two beings would no longer be able to survive without each other. But in the fear....the rage....just...the confusion of it all.....i lashed out....whatever power i now have unleashed itself in its total fury.....lightning, wind, it was too much for him to even think of handling.....it was a pure elemental surge.....i have never felt anything like it before. But then....as i saw his blood spill across the floor......i panicked and ran.....after blowing a sizeable hole in the fortress itself. "

"I suppose i just kept running......i don't remember much after that......i must have collapsed and ended up here."

"Please....don't take any offence to my being here.....i will leave at once.....if i may just get my head to stop spinning.......i'll be out of your hair and away from here."

He clutched the sides of his head and rubbed them furiously.....the pain was near unbearable. Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,

Dawnfire shook her head. "No....Once you have entered the Vale, you cannot leave again...I will take you to our villiage, and see what the other adepts think....maybe our healers might be able to do something." she paused and turned, bringing her fingers to her lips. She let out a sharp clear whistle, and two proud stags lept through the thick underbrush.

"I hope you know how to ride." She said and lept up on the larger of the two. She directed the stag to turn towards Du'kuli. He frowned as he rested on hand on the Stag's flank. "Why are you so adamant on helping me?" He asked.

Dawnfire closed her eyes and bowed her head for a moment, then she pulled back her hair to reveal slender pointed ears. "I want to help you, because if some one didn't help me when I was a child, I would not be here to this day." She tapped the stag's flank, and he turned, and took a single bound forward, and she turned to face him, waiting. In time you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and

"Yes i know how to ride. And thank you for the help." Du'Kuli mounted the stag. The beast was magnificant....proud and majestic. "But if i choose to leave Dawnfire.....nothing will stop me."

Dawnfire thought furiously, oh yes, Du'kuli would be able to leave again, but only after swearing oaths to the Hawkbrothers...oaths that would, though he would always be an outsider, make him a Wingbrother. As the Stag moved through the forest with leaps and bounds, She thought of FireSong...the Healer Adept who had saved her.

Shaking her head to clear it, she paused for a moment. there in front of her was the shimmering sheilds that marked the Heart of the Vale. "I hope you aren't too sensitive to magical sheilding...Our Villiage is surrounded by them."

She rode forward, allowing the stag to find his own way through. As they passed through the sheilds, they passed from the reletively cold early spring, to full blown summer. She turned and noted the surprise on Du'Kuli's face and smiled. "Kale'al! Kale'al! Tale'shendra Dulas'Flar!" ((Or, Hello! Hello! HawkSister DawnFire)) Came a shout from the trees above.

Dawnfire looked up. "Kale'al! Tale'Sardin Dulk'Sai!" ((Hello! HawkBrother DarkWind)) The man stared down at them, his dark hair and light eyes proved that he too dyed his hair. The white Gyrefalcon at his side, Vree let out a happy call, which TreyVan answered, and they both flew off.

"Kalas qe Gunlathas Dulas'Flar??" The scout asked, looking at Du'Kuli with guarded interest. Dawnfire Quickly switched to common. "Darkwind, This is Du'Kuli...I found him near the border to the Vale...He was injured...And..Well I couldn't just leave him there!" she stammered.

Darkwind stared at her for a moment, then nodded. "I understand Dawnfire, You felt the same way that FireSong did about you...If he hadn't found you when he did..." Darkwind stopped. "Anyway...It just happens that there is a council meeting tonight...something about a ChangeChild running loose around here. You can bring up you guest then."

Dawnfire nodded, and led Du'Kuli to her Eklee where he could sleep.

((The Tale'Sardin live in trees, very much like the people of Solace, with ladders and narrow walk-ways stretching from one home to another. the homes are generally two stories, with one room each. the Vale is also dotted with Hotsprings, which are pretty close to the Eklee's.))In time you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and

Du'Kuli marvelled at his surroundings. The strange valley was enchanting and soo beautiful. He was awe struck. A conversation followed between one of her 'brothers' and he wondered who this Firesong was....perhaps he could help him in removing the elemental with out killing him in the process.

Moving off he surveyed.....everything. Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,

OOC: feel free to take over any of the HawkBrothers Dark, cause I can't do this all myself...especially since I don't know how you want this to go!

BIC:Dawnfire smiled with pride as Du'Kuli stared about him in wonder. "come...this way" she led him up the ladders and intricate bridges between the huge trees. she neared a home that was build around the tree's trunk, and used the branches for support. "this is my Eklee...feel free to relax, and sleep if you wish. also, there are the hot springs just to the east of this particular tree, you may use them as well. I will be back soon, so don't wander off."

She turned and was greeted by a white firebird. the creature was about the size of her own vorcel hawk, but was more suited to fruit, not hunting. The firebird threw off mock-sparks as it flew, sparks that flickered and died inches from the bird itself. "Kale'al Flar'sardin!" the firebird chirped and trilled happily in her ear as he landed on her shoulder.

"Du'kuli, meet our little Fire Brother, Cymry. he is FireSong's bond bird. FireSong is waiting for us...if you wish to sleep, I will talk to him alone first...then you can meet him later if you wish...but that is entirely up to you."In time you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and

Tia Sophenya yawned, stretching till she stood on the very tips of her toes. Even then, the nine-year-old could barely see above the table that she stood beside. She allowed herself a grimace before climbing up into one of the chairs and looking across the table.

A scarlet firebird stared back, meeting her blue eyes with his own black beads. The child engaged in the stare-fight easily, flicking her golden locks over one small shoulder as she casually glared at the majestic creature. Memories flicked at her from within that black and she saw herself in tattered clothes, stealing for a living, sleeping in dirt...

Tia sighed and broke the contact. That was happening more and more lately and she couldn't figure out why. Another time lapse? That would be bad, she thought. The firebird ruffled it's feathers as if agreeing with her and the child smiled at the bird. She jumped off her chair--literally, it was a long way to the ground--and walked over to the bird.

The firebird hopped down a level and offered it's head to her. The child stroked the beautiful plumage and then looked up again.

"The world is not that big," she told the bird. Her voice was mature and steady. "It isn't." This time it sounded as if she were trying to convince...someone. She stared at the ceiling for a moment and then looked back at the creature and smiled. (OOC: Kalia, when i started reading this thread I was thinking of joining as a HawkBrother, then Darkwind came in. If so could you give me a little background on him? )

OOC: Kaytr thats fine...Darkwind is a Hawkbrother Adept mage. His hair is white normally without dying it. he dyes is cuz he is also a scout. in the tale'sardin, the people have hold-names. the names describe the person, and the their attitude or spirit. so you can see how brooding Darkwind can be at times.

Firesong is just that bright and joyful if not a trifle Overconfidant and he brags quite a bit...He and Darkwind don't exactly get along. Dawnfire is FireSong's adopted daughter...she is actually a Kagonesti elf, and was abandoned in a dragon attack when she was four...she wandered into the Vale and Firesong found her...and took her in. Darkwind's bondbird The Gyrefalcon Vree is pretty funloving, and likes to try to pluck Firesong FireBird's tail feathers.

Darkwind watched as Dawnfire and Du'Kuli headed to her home. His pale eyes narrowed and darkened somewhat as he watched them chatting together.

'Dawn is so trusting'....he thought to himself. 'Always wanting to see the good in people.... but life isn't like that' He silently vowed to keep a close watch on this stranger, then he turned away and whistled a few notes calling his Gyrefalcon.

Vree soared through the air, his huge wings carried him and lowered him to perch on Darkwinds arm. Darkwind smiled when he saw Vree staring at him with a look of complete innocence.....and a large golden tailfeather in his beak.

Tia yawned. CrimsonPyre echoed the motion, his small, round tongue wiggling between his powerful beak. The small girl laughed and offered her arm. The red firebird perched there, careful not to stick her with his claws.

"Py," she started, her affectionate name for him, "I know you're bored. You're just going to have to keep waiting," she teased. The bird was older and more patient than herself...she was the one that kept figetting and he let her known with a soft nip on her wrist.

"Ow!" Tia glared at the bird, who ignored her and preened at his vibrant red wings.

"Tia?" The small girl jumped and then grinned excitedly at Silvermist. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, nothing much..." Tia said sweetly. "Taking a stroll, causing trouble..."

Silvermist grinned as Tia fluttered her eyelashes innocently. She was older than Tia by quite a few years but still a child and enjoyed the company of the scheming orphan. She leaned forward then, as if sharing a secret. "Did you hear about the outsider?"

Tia grinned conspiritorally and Py fluttered. "Why do you think I'm here?"

Silvermist punched her arm, and this time Py took off, glaring at the two with his beady eyes. "Why do you think I'm here," she shot back. Dawnfire climbed the rope and vine ladders to StarBlade's Eklee with ease. She glanced behind her as The Outlander followed. She Helped him up the last step and led him inside the Large Eklee. StarBlade sat near the front of the large audiance room. His long white hair fell to his waist, and his bond bird, a white huge Eagle-Owl sat sleepily by his side.

Four more bond Birds sat in pearches around the room, Her own Vorcel Hawk, Trey, Vree, as well as Cymry, And one more, a snow owl named Kyleesa. the three other Hawkbrothers where Darkwind, His back to a window, his eyes glancing outside frequently. Darkwind's eyes narrowed as he watched The outlander follow DawnFire into the Eklee. Another scout, StormChaser, who sat near FireSong.

Firesong stood as soon as his gas-flame-blue eyes locked on Dawnfire.
"Kele Su Leya Hertsu." (child of my heart) He said as he embraced Dawnfire. "Greetings FireSong." She said as she hugged the Healer Adept tightly.

Firesong was tall, and lean. He stood just a few inches taller than Dawnfire. His bright blue eys where full of merriment. His long white hair reached past his waist, and was as intricately braided as hers. He wore bright colored silks, the bright blue matched the vibrant shade of his eyes, and the white was brighter than snow in the sun. he smiled at Du'Kuli and nudged Dawnfire.

"Leya, Leya. Kul'kil e Nuliwa'ku une'se?" (My, My. He's a cute one eh?) He said as Dawnfire Blushed. "No Firesong...Not for me." She said, avoiding Du'kuli's stare. Firesong burst into laughter. "No no child of my heart....I ment for me!" He said Laughing again. "Sa'atch." She snickered, and shook her head.

she turned to StarBlade. "Greetings Leader. I bring a Outlander to you...I found him on our northwest border...unconcious and hurt. I could not leave him in such a state. I told him of our laws, but he wished to see you, and firesong, to see if anything could be done for his problems." She said, gesturing Vaugely to Du'kuli.

And it has been my obsevation that it reacts highly to the emotional state which i am in.....there fore it is best i remain calm.....something i am having trouble with right now. However, it will be in your villages best intentions to let me leave incase my presence draws the attention of those whom used to server my creator, they would most likely wish to exact revenge upon me. Plus it would be safer for your viallge, if i were to erupt in a surge of power, the storm i summon would most likely level this village."

"But with these oaths, you will become a WingBrother....and always welcome within our vale. once you can control your emotions better...you will be free to come and visit as you like." Firesong turned as Cymry flew up to land on his shoulder.

"I must prepare for morning...If you will excuse me." Firesong turned, gave Dawnfire a quick hug, and walked down the way. Dawnfire stood there...Her face an unreadable mask. Silvermist stood up from behind a great deal of foliage and then looked back. "Dawnfire is headed back to her eklee," she said to Tia, who sat on the ground, staring at CrimsonPyre.

//You should go after him...you can help him,// the bird thought at her while absently cleaning his feathers. Tia frowned at the small firebird, more than a little annoyed at being reminded that neither of them were as they seemed.

//But then what?// she thought back. //They'll force me to leave...and you know very well I can't go home.//

//No, I don't know that very well. Explain it to me again,// the bird thought back, with infinate patience. Tia sighed in disgust and tossed the firebird into the air, forcing him to twist around and take flight. He nipped at her as he went, and she yelled.

Silvermist kicked her. "Come on, Dawnfire is getting away. You want to see what happens to the Outsider, don't you?"

Tia nodded and they started to run with Py scouting ahead. Tia was faster than her friend and managed to pull ahead, catching up with Dawnfire and the stranger just before they reached her eklee.

(OOC:Kalia, love the twist with Darkwind being Starblades son!)

Darkwind remained behind with his father, a dark scowl on his face.

Starblade addressed his son "It is good that you have the best interests of the village at heart, a good leader must never lose sight of his people." He stood and walked over to stand by his son at the window. "But are you sure the stranger and his affliction are the only reasons behind your behaviour?"

Darkwind kept looking out the window not wanting to face his father, he swallowed and his voice became hard like steel "I don't know what you are talking about father, This village and its people are everthing to me, nothing else matters."

Starblade softened his voice "Are you sure nothing else matters to you?" he gently placed his hand on his sons broad shoulder "A good leader always puts his people first, but he is also allowed to enjoy life, to make friends.....to even love.." Darkwind turned suddenly, pushing his fathers hand from his shoulder he walked over to his fathers throne and leant against it pretending to look at the ceremonial art that adorned the walls. He hoped that his father could not see him shaking.

Starblade smiled to himself, Darkwind was so much like his mother, so stubborn. Starblade saw his son was uncomfortable and he knew that he would never leave his fathers presence without permition. He decided not to press the subject any further.

"Darkwind, Vree is looking bored, you'd best take him out to hunt before he starts to relieve his boredom on that tapestry" Vree looked up startled and dropped the piece of thread from his beak. Darkwind nodded and stretched out his arm for Vree to land on, which he did. He turned and started to leave the room "Darkwind" his fathers voice halted his step and he turned "Just remeber what I said, time stands still for no man, not even a leader." Starblade turned and once again looked out the window.

Darkwind walked out onto the walkway. He was clearly shaken by his fathers words and he stood looking out at the village for awhile to compose himself. He looked down and saw Dawnfire and Du'Kuli outside her eklee. He felt strange as he looked at her, he felt happy but also uneasy. He shook his head and stormed off, he would never understand what was going on inside him, it was easier just to ignore it.

Du'Kuli thought the village beautiful....Dawnfire even more, but he was brought out of his thoughts by a small, strange almost child-like voice in his head....he tunred to see that child standing near him. Innocent, but with a hint of trouble in her eyes...."What can i do for you little thing?" Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,
til the tallow be dust and death's teeth gnash

OOC: hehe!! do I detect a possible romantic dispute? LOL! This is gonna be fun. I'll post again later!Oh dance! The ancient continents theatre
For the performers who wear the mask of time
Oh dance! your dreams three of the wonders of the world
carried here on the galactic railroad
Like a star like a firefly
A flash and it’s born
a Flash and it fades
born and then gone just like us all

Stupid! Tia thought at herself. Why should she risk everything for this...this...stranger! She seethed silently.

//Because it's right,// Py thought at her casually. With an abrupt dimissal, she closed her mind to the firebird and looked at Du'kuli. "You need my help," she said sweetly enough, almost hoping that he would do as any sane person and chalk this off as the ramblings of a cute, but clueless child.

Silvermist giggled and tore her eyes from Dawnfire. The child had secretly--or perhaps not-so-secretly, no one could be sure--made the Dawnfire her hero...she followed her around as much as possible--cleverly hiding in the brush, of course--and imitated her whenever she could.

But now she looked at Tia again and giggled. "Tia is strange...she does strange things..."

Tia glared before she could help herself and then gave a very unchild-like sigh.

((OOC: Erm...shall I duck out of this? It looked for a while like it was going to be more about the elemental...but if you guys want to get a romantic triangle going and stuff like that...I probably get in the way. :) ))Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

(OOC: don't be silly Star, don't leave! Romantic triangles should never, I repeat never, be the whole story. Just look at chronicles. They're just there to add a different twist and make for interesting reading.

We need you in this thread as you're the only hope of helping Du'Kuli. Plus I'm interested in learning more about Tia. :) )

IC Valash the dark mage, watched from the high trees, this was an interesting turn of events, the elf had made it this far without the elemental destroying him, Valash was impressed, He had a wry smile on his face this elf had done him a great service killing his former master in a most horrible way. It had not been easy tracking the elf to this place, and those shields that protected the village had taken time and a great deal of effort to get though undetected, (OR SO VALASH THOUGHT), his black robes were pulled tightly about him, the runes bagan to glow warning him of danger, his magic was not restored however due to the effort of getting through the shield, he turned on the branch but was kicked soundly in the ribs and sent falling in to the room below. his entrance was not the one he had planned.Dark Magic : I feel it. Du'Kuli started at the abrupt entrance of the black robed figure. Instincts took over. The wind kicked up, his eyes clouded over, the skies above rumbled. "Speak quickly of who you are stranger.....the stench of evil clings heavily to you....what is your purpose here?" Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,

IC "I am Valash, I sought you out Elf, Your trail was easy to find considering the destruction you left behind. I am hear to help you. I heard about your plight on the whisper of the wind you might say."
Valash laughed at his joke, the rose to his feet. The bone structure of his face made it easy to tell he was an Elf himself but the eyes in which he fixed on the group were as black as the night sky.

"So what say you Elven, Do you want my help or shall we comence the battle now"?

This was indeed a risk for Valash he had no chance in his present condition he was to weak to fight.Dark Magic : I feel it. It flows through me, it is a part of me, I will do anything and sacrifice everything for it. what is it you ask, The Power the magic,

"I do not take kind to idle threats ....Valash. What help can you bring to me?", he was growing an even deeper dislike for the dark mage..... Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,

IC "What help indeed, I know a place of great magic in the lords of doom, if you will help me obtain an artifact from this place I will use it to free you for the curse my former master inflicted upon you".

"yes you know who I mean don't you, He was evil to the core and served her dark majesty, I serve Nutari and him alone, I hold no farvour for that great bitch".

Valash readied a spell of protection and reached inside his rob for his telaportation ring, it would not get him far but maybe it would be enough if the elf did not like what he heard.
