Yui stamped her hoof, and neighed pitifuly. her White mane was tangled with brambles and thorns, her tail even worse. Her Clear, crystaline Horn didn't shimmer in the moonlight. Her white coat, was dull and dusty. The nets over her where made of a material she had never encountered before...she didn't know how to get out of this.

She Struggled to Stand again, but the ropes held her tight...She heard something move in the forest, and hoped that it wasn't whomever set this trap.

She sighed, and rested her head. Memories of home in her forest with her clan came back to her quickly. And what of Yuna?? The girl had wandered off, and Yui in a frantic search for her, fell victim to this trap that even a Foal could've avoided!! If only she would have watched where she was going...

Yui raised her head and called out "Yuna!?!" where have you gone off to??" she shivered hoping that whatever set this trap hadn't heard her.

"It's been a long road, getting from there to here...it's been a long time, but my time is finally here. And I can feel the change in the wind right now, nothing's in my waaaaaay..."

Yuna skipped through the treaq'o [forest], singing at the top of her lungs. The woman-child--just barely 16 years old--was taking in everything she could, and enjoying it immensely. This was the first time since she had been very little that she had done anything this exciting, the first time she had been away from the Maji'treaq [Magic Forest]...

The treqs [trees] here were different. It was a sea of green and brown in endless shades...the chatter of birds she had never heard before filled her ears...she was used to the treqs having blue leaves with soft silver underbellies and the birds...she recalled the song of the Viroae [Phoenix], made only sweeter by this new sound, this new experience...

For a long time she had begged Yui--her constant companion and best friend--to take her to see the rest of the world. The Aorantha [Unicorn] had always responded the same way, teasing the girl and saying that Aoranthas knew how to sit still for more than two darens [seconds]...

But then one of the Tárathonion who studied in the Towers had come to the Aoranthas and requested that they hunt out a Totolo, a rare flower that grew outside the Maji'treaq and that Aoranthas were adept at finding. Yuna had "accidently" volunteered Yui and here they were! In this strange treaq'o, in a strange land...

Yuna had lost Yui quite a while ago but she wasn't worried. This place was too perfect for worry! There was so much to discover and the longer Yui was looking for her, the longer Yuna had to explore. And she wanted to learn everything...

Creatures scrambled through the green treqs, furry things that chittered at her indignantly. She was used to all sort of magical, intelligent creatures--the majestic Nokolios [griffons], the beautiful Kinkios [Pegasi], the powerful Drachaes [dragons]--and these little things, acting only on instinct, made her laugh and want to pet them, they were so cute...

She climbed up a hill slowly and stopped singing. A boulder stood before her and it occured to her that if she climbed it, she could get a full view of her homeland from the outside...wishing she had one of the Tárathonion's Tinpe Bo’reeos [Memory Orbs] to record the image, she started climbing.

The rock was higher than she had though at first but a cool breeze moved through her hair, calming her protesting muscles. As she reached the top she balances on a small peak and gazed upwards...

Majesties of mountains filled her vision, their purple peaks covered in the palest of blue snows. They seemed to embrace the Bano'in Tyno [Floating Isle], wrapping around it lovingly, almost completely but not quite, leaving it open for the world to view.

A cystalline lake shimmered below the Bano'in Tyno and waterfalls fell thousands of jols [about 10 inches] through the air to reach the body of water. The Maji'treaq, it's blue and silver reflecting off the snows, surrounded the Drachenmaji where the Tárathonion practiced magic in their sheer black towers--three main Spires supported the small Bano'in Tyno that served as a Grand Hall for the three high Orders, while the six smaller towers--sporting their respective colored bands--stood slightly apart...Yuna imagined the silent Guardian Wyneres [Sphinxs] always on watch on the Great Marble Plain that linked the magical buildings...

A long bridge spanned the gap in the mountains, connecting the two nests of the Blueflame Drachaes at either end. Those Drachaes had brought her and Yui down here as there was no other way to get from the Maji'treaq to the Rest of the World unless you were a Kinki or a Nokoli, she mused. No magical transport was allowed within the mountains unless it was through the Portals, like the one that shone as a silver jewel in the middle of the dark bridge...

Yuna stood for many moments, trying to pick out the faintest of details of her homeland. She could barely see a Nokoli fly here or there...could almost see the thin chains that held the Bano'in Tyno in place...it was the most beautiful thing she had every seen and her ache to return warred with her curiousity...

Her curiousity won. Besides, as soon as Yui found the Totolo, they would return...

Scaling back down the giant rock, Yuna found a small stream and took a drink. Small ripples escaped from her hands and the clear blue water sent back a reflection of herself--dirty from her climb--almost in retaliation. She quirked a smile and studied that face...

It didn't belong in the Maji'treaq. Not even Yui could have hide that from her, though the gods know she probably tried! Yuna's skin was a perfect snow white, twinged blue from her blood. Her hair fell just to her shoulders, a sparkling emerald green that matched the triangle-shaped pupils that slid across a silver band that spanned her eyes, offset by a black sphere that sat behind the sliver of silver.

She was a Kee'li. It had taken her some time to figure that out. None of her Aorantha family had wanted to tell her that, and Yuna had been forced to interrupt one of the Tárathonion Maji to figure that out. The Light Being had given her the oddest look and told her in the strangest voice...then reached out to her...Yuna had fled. She had only been six at the time and was now ashamed of her cowardess. And yet, she had never seen another Tárathonion since, until today...

Shrugging, Yuna started away from the stream. She wandered farther and farther from the Maji'treaq and where the Blueflame Drachae had promised he would meet them when called. Abruptly she stumbled out of the woods and blinked. The treaq just stopped and then started again a few feet away...with a dusty path in the middle. Grinning, the Kee'li started down the unknown road...

((OOC: Okay, that sucked but it's long and it's done. :) I had some ideas for flashbacks but I forgot them and so I'll have to get back to ya on that...hmm...and now that it's too late to start working on my project again...I had better go work on my project. Heh. Btw, Yuna just barely remembers her native tongue so she adds it into her speech whenever she thinks of it (translation--whenever I feel like putting it in there :)) The language of the Unicorns is english here, unless you feel like making up your own.))

A small dot appeared far above from the place Yuna was standing. It was descending...no falling. Something reflected the sunlight into Yuna's eyes, making her stop and look up.
Sunlight reflected off of platinum hair, being rippled by the wind. Wings fluttered as the Shezari Sylf fell headfirst into the ground, throwing up a cloud of dust near Yuna.
The Sylf, seemingly unconcious, was talking in small gasps.
"Diamond pupils...darkening eyes...not a sylf...why...what...does...this...mea-"
His gasps subsided as he fell deeper into his unconcious state."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Yui struggled against her bonds once more...hoping to escape it. "blasted Nagami!! (bad word! :P) She spat, as the ropes cut into her silver/white hide.

"Ill never get out of here without help...." she muttered, and Neighed (the neigh for a call like this would sound more like the call of a humpback whale...for any of you whom have seen the movie legend, you know what i mean.) The sound wafted through the forest...and reached the ears of a little Viroae. The Phoenix tossed its head in curiosity, as it flew twards Yui.

"Kinichi...Alirato ku niwa?" (hey? Need some help?) It intoned softly as it landed in a branch near Yui. Yui struggled to turn her head, to see a small, juvinile Blue Phoenix. "yes little Viroae...please! I cannot move enought to break these bonds...please help me!" Yui Cried. The Viroae nodded and fluttered down to Yui's back.

"kila Niwa li...li Niwa kila??" He asked, tilting his head. "Yes...if you wish little one...if you help me I'll help you..." Yui said. The Viroae clawed at the nets, his razor claws ripping through the fibers easily. after a few moments, he managed to get enough of the ropes cut that Yui could stand and break the rest.

"thank you..no what is it you wanted me to do for you?" she aksed as the Viroae flew to a nearby tree. "Kila jiku li e gelnicks keli e volias que li." (I want you to allow me to come with you.) Yui nodded.

"If you wish it little one...but I won't be staying near our home...Yuna...the little Kee'li has run off...I need to find her...will you help?" The Viroae nodded and followed Yui as she raced through the forest...her hoves barely making a sound...She slipped through the forest as quietly as a Ghost....and to any who did see her....the Pure White Unicorn...with the shimmmering Crystal horn, thought as such.Oh, Moons of Mercy, Moons of Light

((OOC: Yay! So we have a language of the Unicorns! With obvious parallels with the Kee'li language!! hahaha...I can't believe I'm still online! AHHH!!))

Yuna stared at the winged being that fell onto the path before her. His words were strange but she understood...the accent was off...but he was obviously as shocked as she was, though almost unconscious...

His platinum hair was almost blinding, his body strong and graceful even as he lay on the path. Yuna stared at him. The first strange race she had met on the outside!!

Going up to him, she looked for injures and then shook his shoulder a bit. "Bino ala Pinata?" "Are you okay?"Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms, munching on magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

The Sylf stirred. He let out a groan and slowly opened his eyes. Facing Yuna, they opened wide with fear, and she could cleary see the diamond pupils he had been talking about.
"Esne... deji e sannen sarram?" "You are... One who lives on Taekote?"
He tried to move his arm, but moaned and held it still. Using his left arm, he pushed himself up. Yuna studied him carefully. He appeared to be no more than twelve. A child just reaching the beginning of manhood.
Yet in his eyes he looked far more mature than his age allowed. They reflected a life with no friends and no love. He wore a beautiful silk tunic with runes written at the hems.
"Neh nomen est Deed'larun." "My name is Deed'larun."
As if snapping out of his reverie, he suddenly spoke in fluent Kee'li, sliding only a few times.
"You can call me Larun." he said, smiling."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Yui burst through the forest edge...the sun set her silver/white coat to gleaming, as if she where made of solid silver. She pranced across the clearing, the high grasses coming up to Yui's flanks. She tossed her mane, looking this way and that...searching.

A flash of Bright color caught Yui's violet eyes. Bright Green...tinge of blue...blinding white...

There! Yui Neighed in sudden delight, reared and pawed at the air. She lept forward, the little Viroae circled high above her. Abruptly, Yui caught sight of the Sylph-like creature...a creature that Yui had never personally seen before...She narrowed her violet eyes in mistrust, and galloped over to Yuna.

"Yuna!!!" Yui cried, her crystal horn filled with a bright, opalescant light. "Why did you run off like that!?" she cried, panic filling her clear crystal voice as she eyed the other creature with obvious distrust.

She kept her eyes on him at all times, she arced her neck, her long silvery mane tumbled wildly over her neck and shoulders. Her crystal horn lowered at a straight angle. Her silver hooves pawed at the earth below them. Her Tail waved high, the sun setting the silver aflame with light.

Yui was more beautiful than any mortal mind could comprehend...yet, at second glance...one could see the red welts on her otherwise perfect silver/white flesh...the brambles and burrs that tangled the brilliant silver mane and tail...the faint trickle of blood that marred the short fuzz of furr around the welts.

"why did you run off? and who is this!?" she asked, her voice lowering as dangerously as her horn.Oh, Moons of Mercy, Moons of Light

Larun, who had lived in the Shezari's majestic crystal palaces in the sky all his life, was awed by this beautiful creature who had galloped from the woods. Even so, he was wary of the crystal horn the unicorn lowered at him, and raised his fairy-like wings and tried to take off. They buzzed, but Larun wasn't an arm's length away from the ground before he fell back onto Taekote with a thud. His face looked more shocked than scared now.
"So..." he thought to himself, "My wings no longer take me a breath away from the ground. How much longer before they disappear?"
Raising a hand, he constructed a magical shield that encircled him like a sphere. It would stop any foreign non-magical material not already inside from entering. He did not doubt that the unicorn possessed magic, but decided that a chance was always a chance.
Glancing up to make a prayer, he was rewarded with a familiar sight, the first one since he had fallen onto the ground. A blue phoenix, but a young one.
Inside his sphere he called out to the phoenix, not in his racial language, but in the language of the Shezari.
"Fellow brother in the sky! I ask for your help in turn for one I will repay back to you when the time is right!"
His eyes glanced back at the unicorn, but soon held her in their gaze. He could see the red welts upon the unicorn's body of seemingly finely chiseled crystal or marble. All protection forgotten, he approached the unicorn, but did not venture far as soon as he remembered the horn.
Raising his good hand, he moved the fingers in a complex pattern while concentrating with his soul. What seemed like fine, glowing, invisible dust flew quickly from his fingers and placed themselves upon the red marks and scars that chipped the beauty of the unicorn.
The red welts and blood disappeared, replaced by the beautiful fur that made up the coat of the unicorn. All traces of the injuries were gone. Not even a single scar remained.
Larun fell back, not only from the energy he had used, but from the awe of his own powers.
"No trace of any injury!" he thought, his eyes wide, "My wings failing me...my magic already beyond that of a powerful Shezari magic-user...What does this all mean!?"
He buried his face in his hands and began to cry."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Yui blinked in surprise as the Shezari Sylph healed her wounds. The little blue Viroae flew down, to land gently on her back. The blinding light fled from Yui's horn, and she raised her head so that it pointed to the sky once again.

Never had she been so taken aback from kindess...she had never met such gentleness outside of her own forest...She took a step forward, completely ignoring Yuna now, and gently nuzzled the Shezari's shoulder.

"forgive me for my rash behavior, Shezari...Yuna is a sister to me...I feared you ment her harm.....I was wrong." She said softly."I wanted to save the world...." the Unicorn said, the light fading from her horn.

The Darkness smiled around her..."It is enough to save yourself..."

((OOC: I'm back!! Project over!! YAY!!))

Yuna frowned, her young face thoughtful. She wasn't used to being ignored, especially by Yui and now poked the Aorantha rather harshly. Yui still ignored her, talking to the Sylph whose magic had healed her.

Yuna sighed and looked up. The young Viroae chee'd at her softly and the Kee'li grinned. The bird was beautiful, its soft cerulean feathers shimmering in wind and sun.

Yuna looked once again down the road. A powerful curiousity overcame her, and she wanted to find out what was down that road more than she cared about where Yui had been, why she had been hurt, or who this mysterious winged man named Laren was. It was almost as if she were drawn...

A soft warmness flowed through her veins. Kee'li's blue blood was colder than most races, making her snow-white skin cool to the touch. Now it seemed to boil and she had to gasp for breath, her eyes locked on the magical bird...

Magical...

Green leaves whipped past the child's face, brushing roughly against soft skin. The child cried out, hushed by the woman carrying her...the woman was trying not to cry...her powerful magic had staved off the beast but she couldn't be sure it would last...

Huddling under a large rock overhang, the woman gasped for breath as she brushed the leaves out of her child's emerald hair. Shimmering as so, it was beautiful with the potential and grace of a life not yet lived...

The warmth flowed through the woman's arms and comforted the babe even as it provided a moment of protection. A moment and then they would run...run as far and fast as they could...

"Osh doche shi tif osh pili vano ala, Vai'kyzi," she murmured. The babe coo'ed at the sound, her voice was like the small bells the child loved to play with. She would remember those words though, in the back of her mind and the feel of her mother's hand, so warm when all there was was cold fear and unforgiving rock...

"Osh doche shi tif osh pili vano ala, Vai'kyzi," Yuna muttered to herself. She knew all the words up to the last one. "I don't know if I can save you," she translated to herself.

Her eyes once again took to the bird, who was preening in a nearby tree. It looked up and she could have sworn it smiled at her...

When Yui and Laren finally looked up, Yuna and the Viroae were gone. The Kee'li was no where to be seen, but the bird was off in the distance, apparently following an emerald Viroae that had appeared from nowhere.

Deed'larun sighed and stood up. Wincing a bit while moving his left arm, he used both hands and drew a complex sigil into the air while murmuring each one he drew. The spell of levitation worked beautifully and he was able to work his wings to fly again. Speeding up into the air, he washed himself off in a dark rain cloud.
Up in the sky, he dove facefirst until he caught up to the unicorn. Flying low, a smile plastered on his pale features, he and Yui chased the two phoenixes."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

OOC: Taekote? is it? I wish I had known this. I thought we were still deciding a name? Oh well.
Is it pronounced "CHA-COAT-EH" or " TOW-K-OAT-EH" or " TAY-COAT-EH" I'm just wondering?

Anyways I take it this is the first story based in our new world?
If so. Both Star and Kalia know I must be apart of it. ;)

To represent my race I chose a lightning based Dra'th Sin named Quik ( Basicaly QIK)

BIC:

In the past month Quik had been observing the Drachenmagi he had seen many come and go.
Taking note of each traveller, memorizing there faces or power levels.
His report would be complete within another week. A week he wished had already passed.

He had left Serpentia to earn the right of training under the great D'jin.
In the audeince with the great ruler he had been quiet and observing.
This had taken great effort since his blood flows with electric pulses.
Only his mothers calm and patient side helped him in this task.

He had been noticed by the king since birth, the first lightning bearer.
The first cross of earth and fire Sin's, a historical moment deserving the kings attention.
Now only 28 cycles old Quik had been offered training from the greatest of his kind.
Still young his mind was fast and keen, perfect for this mission.

All he had to do was watch the Drachenmagi school for any disturbances.
A simple task, one Quik had expected more from.
Till today.......

As he sat in a great tree, he had noticed a Kee'li wandering about.
Strange as it was it got stranger with the arrival of the sylph.
Quiks natural invisibilty granted him the opporunity of eaves dropping on their conversation.
With a thought he appeared in a tree above the two creatures.

" I wonder what tales they could tell?" He thought to himself.

OOC: K I'm just gonna have Quik watch for awhile ( since he is Dra'th Sin ) and take notes bassicaly.
Oh yeah Star love the description. Emerald green triangular iris's, with silver and black.

;) Now that is imagination :)Tis better to have loved and lost.
Then to have never loved at all.

((OOC: Welcome Fury. :) I decided on Taekote before I started this thread because I used the Tarathonion at ROE...I didn't think we'd ever really use the races we made so I didn't think anyone would care...incidentally, it's pronounced (tay ko tee). I add my own little accent to it but I wouldn't know how to write that down...lol.

Btw, a Drachenmaji is the school of magic. A mage is just a Maji. There are Drachaemaji, who belong to the highest order, but well...they're very rare and you can see the difference. :)))

Yuna sped through the four winds, feeling the soft warmth imparted onto her emerald feathers by the distant sun, its red rays reaching out to every corner of a busy world. She could see a thousand shades of green and brown beneath her, calmly swaying in a midafternoon stupor, even as tiny dots moved among them in unchecked celerity.

The young Kee'li watched them, intriqued. The dots moved along the path with seemingly important purpose and liveliness. Many rode Athenals, while others rode in carriage made of red wood pulled by the same animals. Yuna studied them for a moment...she had never seen anything like them, read about them yes...

The beasts of burden reminded her of a graceful gazelles she had seen once except that they had short front legs without joints, making it impossible to run on all fours like most deer-like animals. It was useful for bending under the Pala Bushes, and picking the pale blue Pala Fruit that was the basis of their diet...Yuna smiled, pleased that she remembered so much about these animals. The Athenals walked by balancing their long tails and...

These Athenals were moving at incredible speeds, pulling the carriages along for a smooth ride. Perplexed, Yuna dove to get a better view and was amazed. They were using their short front limbs to grasp onto crafted wheels and using their powerful back legs to propel themselves...

The Athenals let out a keening cry and halted. Yuna frowned and look forward and...

...was dazzled beyond belief. A city stood in their midst, shrouded in a blanket of lowflying clouds that had to be magical in nature as they were the softest gray--she felt as if she could land and sleep in that velvet, protective blanket... The weary travelers so far below seemed to let out a collective sigh of relief and one by one disappeared into the green and brown gate that was the only clear indication that it was not just a resplendent mirage...

The Viroea before her swooped beyond the gate without hesitation. The tall figures that stood at the ready upon the towers flanking the enterance gave a hollered whoop. Appearently they saw the magical bird as a good omen...

Magical birds, Yuna corrected and with a great cry of joy, she dove headfirst into the velvet shroud.

Larun darted among the low flying clouds. Following two magical birds were easy, after all, they were magical. Floating among the clouds, he spied the two Viroea fly into a city. Quite a beautiful city too, he noticed.
"Not my Shezari crystal city in the sky, but quite a marvel nonetheless..." he thought, then paused.
"Shezari..." The word itself gave him memories, both painful and happy.
"Why did they exile me? Because my wings have been crippled in some way?" he sighed and shook his head, "Not right now...I might lose sight of Yuna and the little blue one."
Watching the two magical birds disapear into the city, he landed nearby the gates, hiding his wings inside his tunic as he had seen the elders do when they had visited the lands on the surface of Taekote, while waiting for Yui to catch up."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Yui had already reached the city...and watched Larun land. She watched Yuna and the little blue dissapear through the gates. She pranced nervously...she didn't know if she should reveal herself or not....her mind raced as she thought of a spell to disguise herself....

Finally remembering it...she settled all four hoves on the ground, lowered her head, and touched her crystal horn to the ground. Magic in the form of bright silver and gold motes floated up from Yui's horn...they swirled as if blown by an invisible wind, and encircled her body untill all you could see was a bright silver and gold haze.

As the haze faded, Yui had indeed changed...instead of the silver-white unicorn, a woman dressed in a tunic of palest blue, and breeches of silver-white knelt on the ground. Yui raised her head, and the silver-white hair fell away from a face that seemed to be out of a dream. Features finely sculpted, Bright Violet eyes, and a pale starlike mark on her forhead.

Yui stood uncertantly, but gained her balance easily. She looked over to Larun and smiled at the shock that registered on his face.A Fanatic does what he thinks the Gods would do if They knew the facts of the case Finley Peter Dunne

Larun just stared for awhile, then smiled broadly and blushed like a schoolboy.
"You have magic too, I see..." he coughed slightly.
Making sure his wings were hidden, he walked over to Yui.
"It shouldn't be too hard, searching for two magical birds...But tell me more about yourself and Yuna. You said something about being sisters or other."
His diamond pupils seemed to have a dancing light in the middle of each.
He suddenly lost his balance, nearly falling again.
"I'm sorry...my body is getting so clumsy these years.... I really don't know why, and the elders of our city refuse to tell it to me. Something about the Celibye or Celibren or something."
He smiled a forced smile and kept walking.

The low clouds tickled her feathers as Yuna dove through them, anxious to get her first view of her first city. As she did, the Kee'li stopped, hung in the air, stunned...

First, it was the people. She had never seen so many people at once! Different races walked side by side, hurrying along deep onyx streets, chatting in different languages. Yuna's heart quickened--most of the people were of the Kee'li, their multicolored hair shining against white skin, standing out against the black.

The city itself sat on a small lake created by the passing of a roaring river. On either side of the city--visible to the world--the water trickled out a normal blue but the lake...depths of purple rose to a glowing fushia. Yuna flew in for a closer look and found the water was being colored by shimmering koraolite that rested just beneath its surface.

The phoenix diped into the water. It tasted slightly sweet, slightly tangy. Grinning, Yuna flew back towards shore, eventually following a small blue tributary that was one of million running through the city, into and out of houses...undisrupted by any who had the priviledge of living on the lush river banks.

The houses...Yuna squealed in delight. Every building here was constructed by the shaping of the koraolite which provided a strong glass-like substance that hardened and turned a deep blue-violet when harvested from the water. Each house was a palace of different proportions, shaped with a loving hand to suit the different lifestyles of the owners...

And they were entirely different. Though made of the same material, Yuna saw one house made entirely of open-air balconies, another of simple columns holding up vast stretches of vines. Another had waterfalls cascading from every seen ledge, another built into a large hill...

The city seemed centered around a single golden tree, from which rings of walkways and merchant stands sprung, following by houses and finally skyscrapers. The shroud seemed to be coming from these enormous spires and covered them completely. Beyond the spires there was a natural layer of woods that gave way to the city wall.

Landing on a midnight street near the golden tree, Yuna changed form without a conscious thought of doing so. The Kee'li went unnoticed but for one woman who called her over to a stand bearing exotic fruits just waiting to be eaten. Yuna paused--her ears had caught ahold of some strange sound--but then went over to the woman.

The merchant smiled. "Why, child, you look lost."

Yuna smiled back automatically and again looked around for the source of the strange noise. "What is that?"

"Is this your first time in our city?" the woman asked kindly. Yuna nodded. "That sound is the chime of the Bellatee, our timeflower."

She pointed to a small cerulean plant near her stand. Several petals were unfurled, several not. Golden dust sat next to silver at the center. Yuna touched one of the petals experimentally. "Is it dying?"

The woman laughed softly. "The number of petals that are curled or not curled tell us the time of day, the amount of gold dust tells us more specifically. They grow all over the city." The woman paused and cocked her head to the side, displacing her cerulean locks. "Did you ever live here, child? You remind me of someone."

"My name is Yuna, if that helps."

"That is not a Kee'li name."

Yuna shrugged and just smiled at her.

"Hey, psst...wake up!"

A scarlet haired Kee'li grinned at the sleeping cityranger. The DanioNosia woke with a start and then grinned sheepishly at the civilian. He shifted around his ceremonial garb and the blue-violet sash that proclaimed him a city official. "What can I help you with?"

"A couple of strangers just entered town. I don't believe they were given the proper greeting at the gate...thought you would like to know."

The DanioNosia smiled again and thanked the civilian before stretching and making his way towards the two strangers.

"Lokin!" he called out as he neared. "Welcome to our fair city of Atakin! May I know the purpose of your visit so that I might make your stay comfortable?"

He studied them politely, first the woman...a beauty of some race he couldn't readily identify, with silver-white hair and stunning violet eyes; the other...

A stunned expression reflected in his triangle pupils. "Excuse me, sir, but are you a...?"

Yui studied the guard carefully, but did not speak at the moment...Larun saved her that. Her eyes skipped from one location to another...She had never been within a city like this one...no Unicorn had....She nodded absently at Larun.

"Yes, Two...One small blue...and a larger emerald green." she said...her oddly musical voice carried easily...and seemed to startle the guard. The DanioNosia stared at Larun for a moment and then smiled. “We don’t get to many of your kind around here…excuse me for saying so, but you’re something of a rarity.” He blushed blue and bowed. “Again, welcome.”

He paused to think if he had heard any reports of Viroae in the area and as he did, the woman spoke. Her voice was otherworldly, and reflected eerily in his pointed ears. He looked at her startled and wondered just briefly if he should investigate…

No, just having an eerie voice didn’t make one suspicious, he chastised himself. Holding up his hand, palm open, he signaled them to wait for a moment.

Sister…?

He had joined the guardian force of the city to honor his older sister and they used their common blood to communicate across this grand city. She was usually stationed at the Gate, but he had no idea if she were listening or not.

A minute passed, then two. The strangers started growing restless. But then his sister answer, he asked and cocked his head slightly to the side as she gave an answer. Turning back to the strangers, he said, “Two Viroae were sighted this morning, crossing into the city. One blue, the other green. Not too long ago, one was seen leaving.”

Was it his imagination or did the woman looked distressed at this news? She quickly asked which had been seen leaving and the DanioNosia again got in touch with his sister. Coming back, he shrugged. “No one noted which one it was. I am sorry. If you are looking for Viroae I would suggest that you journey to the Drachenmaji just north of here and…”

The woman looked away, effectively cutting him off. He frowned. “I do apologize…if you would care for an escort around our city, a guide…I would be more than happy to…”

Yuna sat in the spacious home of the merchant she had met earlier. Felic’an—for that was the merchant’s name—had gone to get her a drink, leaving the curious Kee’li to explore her dwelling.

It was beautiful. Symmetric shapes—pyramids, obelisks, spheres—filled the room, placed in strategic areas that added to the overall beauty of the room without ever getting in the way. A small stream ran between the silver and black engraved chairs, adding a soothing sound and a hint of moisture to the lush atmosphere.

Felic’an returned and handed Yuna a small glass wrapped in small blue-green vines. It was warm to the touch—the work of the vines, no doubt—and held a sweet clear liquid. “It’s delicious,” she said, staring in wonder at the other woman.

The woman smiled, but there was a hint of sadness there that Yuna couldn’t fathom. “Those vines come from the great jungles to the south…where legend has it the Mir live. Do you know about those jungles, Yuna?”

The girl shook her head and took another sip. The Unicorns had never mentioned a great jungle, much less anything called a Mir. Felic’an looked shook her head, as if in frustration. “Of course you don’t, child…and I think I know why…it’s your eyes. I knew there was something familiar about your eyes…” Yuna looked at her curiously and then gazed into the glass, trying to see what was wrong with her eyes. Felic’an went on. “Tomorrow…tomorrow we shall see.”

Yuna’s head shot up. “Why not now?”

Felic’an laughed despite herself. “You certainly have her spirit. Now is not a good time. You need some sleep.” Delaying any further protest, she showed Yuna up to a bedroom and laid her down on a bed of soft liquid that was dense enough to sleep on.

Larun smiled and said,
"Don't mind her, she's just worried that's all. And if you're still offended, I'll say sorry for her."
Though his mouth didn't move, Yui could hear Larun's voice from deep within her.
"I don't trust this person, nor anyone else in this city. I'm going to fly above to get a better look at the city. And, if you didn't know this, Yuna's still here. Yuna slept as she had never slept before, her dreams were of a world she had once known...and left behind. Vibrant colors swarmed her thoughts, faces swam and were there and not there, as images in dreams are wont to be. When she woke, she remembered nothing but that she had dreamed and that she had liked it.

She slowly left the comforts of her bed and forced herself downstairs. It was hard--there was something in that feeling that asked, begged her to stay forever and keep dreaming.

But curiosity, as always, won out. Yuna bounded up and down spiraled stairs, seaching for Felic'an. She found her finally in a well-lit room where rays of blue-white sun streamed in bringing the morning on a reflected rainbow of azure violet.

Stunned, Yuna could only wait in silence till she was noticed. The other Kee'li did, finally, and with a smile, guided the eager child down to the streets. They walked together and swiftly, coming eventually to a large house surrounded by a grove of sweet-smelling trees that bloomed a passionate red.

An older woman answered the door and greeted Felic'an warmly. The two touched hands and their skin flooded to silver before they stepped away. Yuna started. She had once known that that was a common greeting...but she had never seen it before. Only two Kee'li could do it, after all.

The elderly woman's layered eyes turned next to Yuna and she managed a smile before her expression froze. She looked up, stunned, at Felic'an and the other nodded. Yuna found herself rushed into the house and up into one of two rooms of a tower that provided the highest vantage point of the dwelling. She was sat down on a soft blue chair and bid to wait while the woman talked down the hall.

Yuna was, of couse, not content to wait. She edged towards the door but though she knew the language, it had been too long and she could not follow it at a quickened pace. Disappointed, Yuna decided to search the other room, hiding in shadows and loving the thought of being caught.

The door was slightly ajar and Yuna could see sunlight streaming from inside. It entered her eyes and she blinked, watching blue and violet dots cascade before she could focus. The edges of the room became clear first. They were barren and stark, holding none of the lavish decorations that she had become used to seeing. The center...

Yuna caught her breath. A spherical window created a halo of light and there in the center sat a person.

She could see his profile, his head was bowed and small strands of hair fell into his eyes. He made no move to brush them away; his hands never left the ground where they seemed to grip it not for balance but for strength. There was something eternally sorrowful about him, and Yuna felt pity and remorse for whatever had forced him into this room, alone.

She crept closer and the bright halo receded. She shaded her eyes and looked again.

He was older than her, much older...his eyes were blue from tears that had long since stopped flowing. And his hair was a perfect shade of emerald.

"Yuna!"

Felic'an's hand pulled back at her shoulder and the child automatically fought the touch, running farther into the room. The merchant followed with a gasp and then all was silent.

The man had moved. No one had seen him, but he was now halfway to his feet, staring into Yuna's eyes. Neither blinked and then...

"Vai'kyzi?"

Yuna shivered and then she ran...down the stairs, out of the house...onto the streets...

Larun looked down from the sky, puzzled.
I really hate it when i don't understand things...
Noticing Yuna run onto the street, he began to swoop down to Taekote, when a dark whirl appeared out of nowhere and blocked his way.
"Well, well, look at what we have here, brothers."
A tall, well built Luzinari sylf crossed his arms in front of Larun, smirking. Two other Luzinaris flanked him.
"A shezari sylf, all alone and so very young! Now, now what are you doing away from that wishy washy crystal city of yours eh?"
"None of your buisness," said Larun and began to descend around them, but they blocked his course once more.
"I really don't think you should just ignore us like that. It's so very rude."
The Luzinari sylf raised his hand, amber eyes glinting, and began to chant.
"I'm warning you," snarled Larun, and raised both his hands outward.
He began to chant too, but he stopped as something inside of him said,
"Hmm...That isn't strong enough to kill a darned third class mage! You know other magic...just look for it..."
The voice faded as the Luzinari sylf finished chanting.
"This will give me a higher rank among my people!," he shouted and drew a circle, tearing a hole into reality. Thousands of red eyes glinted from within the hole, and a horrible shrieking enveloped the air.
"Come out, my little friends...come out."said the Luzinari sylf.
The shrieking grew louder as small black dragons no bigger than dogs flew out of the hole like a swarm of bees. But instead of going straight to Larun, they swerved downwards toward the city.
Screams reached the ears of Larun, but he didn't flinch. His luminescent wings stretched and disappeared into his body.
"How...How'd you do that?" said the Luzinari sylf, taken aback. Larun stood in the air, without any means of support.
"You will pay for that." he said, his tone different, deeper, yet...lighter somehow.
He began to gracefully dance, his feet drawing a circle of magic in the air, then filling it with runes. The circle rose up until it reached Larun's waist, but he didn't pause until the circle was vertically aligned with himself and facing the Luzinari sylves. For a split second, the middle sylf thought he saw not a shezari boy just reaching puberty, but a man with dark purple eyes. The man raised his hand and threw the circle of magic at the three Luzinaris. The runes seared into their skin, burned their wings, and devoured their minds. In but a few seconds of torturous screaming, the three sylfs were gone, and the circle of magic broke, sending runes flying after all of the draks that had been let loose.
The runes were quick; soon there was not a drak in sight, but a glowing red eye on the ground.
There was a crash near the place Yuna and Yui were standing, and they could hear Larun groan loudly."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Yuna automatically fell into the outstretched arms of Yui even though, through a blaze of tears, she didn't recognize the humanoid form of her Unicorn sister.

But then her confusion was gone and she desperately held onto a familiar embrace. She was sobbing silently and couldn't seem to catch enough breath to tell Yui what was wrong.

The Unicorn patiently waited, though concern shone in her eyes. Finally, Yuna managed to calm down enough to look at her friend.

"What's my name?"

Yui looked stunned. "You know your name."

Yuna nodded suddenly and her eyes became deathly calm. "Yes, I do."

It was at that moment that Felic'an and the old woman arrived on the streets and the battle in the skies began. The woman never looked away from Yuna; while Felic'an--and everyone else on the streets--watched the Sylphs fight.

And then Laren was on the ground and Yuna was staring at him in wonder. Felic'an paled to a pastel blue and started shouting in Kee'lian. There was a Sylph doctor in the city somewhere...a DanioNasiano ran to find him.

Meanwhile the old woman had removed her outer skirt and placed it under Laren's head. She assured him quietly that their doctor was a good one, an Apothocary of some reknowned. Her eyes darted to Yuna and then back again to Laren, and back to Yuna...

Yuna met the woman's gaze steadily, though she never let go of Yui, her hands a vice as if the Unicorn was a lifeline.
