Jennie shifted in the cramped interior of her home. She didn't want to be any smaller! She was sick of being small and stuck and...

She started grumbling to no one. She hated doing that too. It was so pointless.

Raising a blue incorporal hand, she rubbed a window in the cold metal wall of her home and gazed out. Torch light cast a dim glow over the massive chamber, reflecting off an infinate sea of gold, silver, precious gems of every kind...

Jennie sighed and looked around till she found the large diamond that sat at just the right angle to reflect her home at this time of day. She took a moment to admire the sleek contours of her golden vessel with the bright sapphire on top as big as a fist...

Cai'de had brought each one of the fliers to show Thorn as she had found them each morning. At first she set them on his desk in the study like anything else she felt he would be better suited to taking care of. Then, she started regarding them with slight annoyance, but by the end of the week she was near to asking Thorn if she could try the adventure (it would also be a great experience to test her powers)."Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens." -- Gimli, The Fellowship Of The Ring

Eden yawned. Living among mortals was extremely boring. He especially hated the fact that he was not allowed to use the full extent of his powers as an Irda. He wanted an adventure, with action, with...
A flier, flown by the wind, landed straight on his face.
"...Rewards," he finished.
Smiling, he put his illusionary disguise up and teleported nearby the inn and started to walk. Something nipped at his heels.
Turning around, he found his familiar, a black fox with blue eyes.
"Oh! Didn't I send you away already?"
The fox didn't answer telepathically but just cocked its head and jumped onto Eden's shoulders.
"Alright, you can come with me," said Eden, tickling the chin of the black fox as he walked into the inn."Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

Jury read the flier and grinned. This was just the break she was looking for! She rolled the flier up, and stuffed it into a small pouch at her waist. Miki, her Magpie (Actually a White Phoenix in Disguise) Cawed and bobbed his head.

nilafa is resting against a tree breaking small rocks into smaller rocks with the tip of his golden rod as a flier drift and gets under his rod. He picks it up and reading the few words he can and decides to go to the inn. not knowing where the inn is he asked his rod to lead the way with its bright golden light and begins to follow its tugging hoping he will make it there on time.

"By all means, I think you should go," said the Thorn to Cai'de. "It would be an excellent time for you to test and develop your powers. Jury Sighed in exasperation. "Listen you Dolt...I said that I am waiting here for a friend...And Miki is my assistant...NOT A PET" she seethed, her green eyes bright with anger.

The Innkeep frowned and shook his head. "I say it again Lady...No Pets!" Jury narrowed her eyes and grumbled something under her breath and allowed Miki to take to the air. The Black magpie circled above her...as she muttered something softly under her breath, tracing small intriacate symbols in the air. Miki Cawed and Began to shimmer brightly around the edges.

The Bird Squaked and shrunk, untill a small star-like Gem fell into Jury's waiting hand. She held the Gem up to the light and smiled. The Winter Solstice found many strangers huddled in an the unassuming Inn. On the table in the middle of the commonroom sat the flier. No one had seen it appear there and no one could quite figure out where all the rest of the million other fliers had gone...they had simply ceased to be without any magical motes or auras.

People milled about. Most expected some sort of guide or the writer of the flier to show up and stun them with the beginings of a promising quest.

Nothing happened.

Noon came and went. A few uneasy men, huddled together in dark cloaks, cursed and spat, finally leaving--to the relief of all. As the day wore on more and more left...the anxious, the impatient...

"THIS IS RIDICULOUS!"

A loud bang followed this announcement. A tall barbarian had been riding out the hours with his best friend--his ale--but even the drunk have their limits. Feathers quivering from the hilt of his huge broadsword; the drunk started towards the door. Several people made a move to follow him--it looked as if the quest had come to a premature end.

"Wait..."

A wizened old lady--leaning heavily on an equally wizened staff approached the table slowly, moving as fast as she could. The barbarian turned briefly--swaying--and bellowed:

"WHAT?"

"It's changed..."

The remaining questors gathered around the table. The flier was gone, had probably been gone for hours. In its place sat a map. Golden vines wrapped around its edges, curling around a small black line that lead away from the Inn and into the wild. Twisting through woods and mountains, the line eventually stopped at a small star over which were written the words:

Vort looked at the map. He memerized it in 5 seconds and he was off before anybody knew he was there. "Hmmmm he thought to himself the stupid wizzerd had that rod, it might be easer to just follow him". Right then he stoped and hid in the shadows in wait for the "blundering mage".

Jury stared at the map in Amazement...then smiled. She rolled it up and tucked it in her belt. She stood and straightened her black silk tunic, and smoothed down the black linen breeches. She Refastened her black woolen cloak, and stood. She turned and walked out of the inn without another word.

Once outside, she pulled the star-like Gem out of her pouch, and tossed it in the air. The Gem Shattered, and Miki reappeared, only to land contentedly on her shoulder. "well Miki...I think we found our chance!" she said, binding her long chestnut colored hair into a singe ponytail. She brushed her fingertips against the medallion that was hidden safely under her tunic and thought of her cousin, Ku, wondering just what she was up to.Storms Do not respond to heartfelt pleas

As Jury turned to leave, she felt a huge hand on her shoulder.

The barbarian had managed to swagger outside--hitting his head on the blasted doorframe in the process--and caught up with the young woman.

"Heyy..." he slurred. "What righ' have YOU to carry sa map???"

The wizened old lady slowly exited the Inn and watched on in silence. Some of the other patrons, as interested in the map as she, weren't as courteous. Loud yells--and a few jeers--were shot at Jury from the crowd.

((OOC: There is the barbarian, the old woman and 3 others who stayed besides you people.))

"Now, now gentlemen! I am sure the young maiden did not realize quite what she was doing when she walked off with our map!"

A young man stepped forward and gave Jury a dazzling smile. And it was dazzling...his chisled features could have been carved by the most talented of dwarvensmith, his build was strong but subtle and his golden eyes seemed to dance for her. He winked and bowed in formal greeting, while smoothly stepping between her and the barbarian.

Grog trundled along the path. The ogre hadn't been to the Silver Tower in several years but he had finally decided to come visit his friend, the Thorn.

The half-wit opened the door to the tower and entered shouting, "Magic man, where you be?"

The Thorn heard Grog's cry and entered the foyer, where the ogre was standing. "Hello Grog, how have you been? I knew you'd be coming by this way and I was wondering if you could help me out."

The ogre scratched his head and puzzled out his reply. "Grog good, not do much lately, just travel and put out fires. What help you need?"

"My wife wishes to travel somewhere and I would like for you to act as bodyguard on her quest," replied the mage.

"Fine by me," replied Grog. "When we go?"

"I'm sure you'll take off as soon as she comes down here. I believe she is preparing for the trip as we speak," stated the Thorn."Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?"

Okay, I've got 7 pairs of sandals, 5 pairs of flip-flops, 14 pairs of dress shoes, 2 pairs of boots, 8 pairs of sneakers . . . lets see what I've got in the way of shirts . . .

((ooc; J/K, couldn't resist . . . for real now; ))

Cai'de set the sack down on the table. Was she ready? She had the whistle Kalia had given her (just in case), some clothes, a sleeping mat, cooking utensils, parchment quills and ink in a small, waterproof case (she had been mulling over an idea for a book secretly for some time) and two empty sacks that fit perfectly in the bottom of her main sack.

She picked up the strap of the pack as if to shoulder it and noticed the wedding ring. A pang that had been there since her decision to go suddenly flared throughout her body, and she strongly considered relinquishing her desire. Thorn was her whole life, and what if something happened while she was gone?

Don't be silly! She told herself, He can take care of himself perfectly well and you've done fine on your own before, too! She sighed. She would miss him, and she knew he would miss her, but she was aching for travel and adventure and he wasn't. I won't be long. She thought.

"I think I'm ready to go." She said to herself. As if on cue, however, Toss, now fully grown, leapt from the rafter and flew down to alight on Cai'de's shoulder, mewing in a way that meant 'not without me you don't!'

Cai'e scritched his head, shouldered her pack, and then descended to where Thorn was. She smiled as she saw his friend.

((OOC: Okay...I'm not sure if the golden eyed guy was Eden or not...if not, just tell me...))

Eden found this most amusing. This large blundering oaf had disgusted him as he had entered the inn, but the barbarian had crossed the line.
"Where to, milady?"
Under his cloak, he began tracing patters with his fingers while humming a tune and drawing a rune circle around himself and Jury, while looking like he was simply walking around her.
After going a full circle around her and a few other steps he stopped and faced the barbarian again while saying,
"Anywhere you wish to go, m'lady, just not magically protected."
"Oh, and"
His fingers under his cloak clenched into a fist, emitting blue light from within it as the drunk was also surrounded by a blue aura. Calmly lifting his fist up, he rose the barbarian along with it. Cocking his head to one side, he let the barbarian rise so high he was a blue speck in the sky, then smiling, opened his hand and the light went out.
Taking his other hand, he did a sweeping motion to the ground underneath the falling barbarian. The ground was soon covered with a red web of energy.
Turning, he said, "Well?" "Draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus"-"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"
