What a gloriuous day!!!!!!

The sun was high and brilliantly warm, the birds were siniging their song of happiness, children ran in and out of the mightly Vallenwood trees while their parents watched with contented smiles on their faces as they basked themselves in the glory of the day.

Everyone was happy!

Everyone except Hagather Rockbreaker, who hated summer. Sometimes she wondered why she had ever left the comfort of her mountain home. It was cool all year round. She never had to worry about sweat, or sun, or trying to stay cool enough so she could carry on with her work, no sir! All she had to worry about was being able to fill out the orders that kept piling in for her jewlery, others of the clan would travel out to sell it for her, and then bring back the money they had made from it. In all her 49 years, she had never even got the urge to find a husband, let alone leave the clan and come to this town they called Solace.
Then, a few months ago, in her fiftieth year no less, she had been forced to step outside her home inside the mountain and make the yearly selling trips herslef, when her brother, the one who usually went out to sell her goods, was taken ill. She had put on a pair of heavy boots, a riding cloak, hitched the family pony to their wagon and began the joureny.

At first, the short, stout dwarf with the grey eyes found the journey quite plesent. Her wares sold well in every town she stopped, and she always had enough money to feed and house herself when she needed rest, and they weather was just right for her. The spring mornenings were fresh, and the sun shone just enough to stop her from feeling the cold, and she was as happy as a dwarf ever was. Then, the unthinkable happened.

Her pony died.

She had decided to make a two day stop in Solace, and decided to stay at a place called the Inn Of The Last Home. At first, she hated the idea of climing the walkways all the way up to get to the inn, but the smeel of spiced potatoes drifted down to her and she was up to the inn faster than a kender runs from the never quite long enough arm of the law, leaving her pony and cart in the care of a stable boy at the bottom.

She fed herself, downed a few flagons of ale, and then decided she should go and check on her cart and her pony. When she arrived, she found a distraughgt stable boy and a dead pony.

According to the stable boy, the animal had simply keeled over, and when the lad went over to try and rouse the animal, he found that he couldn't. He tried to explain to the quetly fuming dwarf that it was not his fault, that he had done everything that he could for the animal, but Hagather was not interested in explainations, as the boy found out when he was chased from the stables, Hagather running after him whelding a large hammer that she had found on the floor.

Now, three weeks later, she had found herself renting this pokey little house that had been left by a kender who unfourtuantly passed away to his only friend, a piggy eyed little man called Gustus, and trying to keep herself cool as Solace experienced the biggest heatwave since the cataclsym!

She sat outside of her rented accomodation (which at least was on ground level!), trying to work on a braclet that had been ordered by one of the barmaids at the inn, her white hair stuck firmly to her scalp due to the intese heat. She was finally starting to make some progress and feeling like it had not been a totaly waste to get up in the morning, when someone screamed at her;

"LOOK OUT LADY!!!!!!!!!!!"

"What the.....................?" Hagather mumbled to herself gruffly, looking up too late to see the person crash into her with an almightly thud, flinginher off her chair, and half crushing her as they landed on top of her. She waved her stubby legs, her skirts flying everywhere, yelling for the person to get off of her...................................................

OOC: LOL!! I got something in mind here Mirror!! Lol!! I am officially saying that Moonlit sun is Dead! I didn't rely think it would get far when I had too much wrapped up in NightStalker...so I am pulling the Twin characters here!...Now does this sound familiar?? A pair of twins, one a mage, one a fighter....A dwarf, and a Kender???? Now all we need is a knight, an elf, and a pair of barbarians!!!

BIC:

Leiliea and Liana moved along the road, Liana, her brown eyes wide pointed at the Drwarf and the Kender. Liana brushed away a stray strand of golden hair, and looked up at her twin, Leiliea, with her silver hair and blue eyes.

Leiliea pushed back the hood of her white cloak. She fixed her blue eyes on the pair up ahead and nodded at Liana. She tapped the flank of her white stallion, whil Liana swung up into the saddle of her Dun Mare.

When they reached the pair, Liana smiled warmly, while Leiliea, who seemed to be a bit preoccupied, gave a bare ghost of a smile.

"Is there anything we can help you with?" Liana asked.Oh, Moons of Mercy, Moons of Light

Hagather let out an exasperated scream as the two women approached and asked if they could help her.

"Can you help? CAN YOU HELP?!!!!!!?!!! Of course you can't, I usually spend my time being squashed by kender!!!!!" she screeched sarcastically. "Now HELP ME UP!!!!!"

Suddenly she felt hands grab spare bit's of her person that were currently not being crushed underneath a kender and she found herself standing right way up again, her grey hair standing up at gravity defying angles and her skirts all akimbo. She "humphed", dusted herself off, bowed in a grateful gesture to the two women and then turned on the kender.

"What did you think you were doing, running into me like that?!! I could have been killed! Bet you didn't think of that did you while your running along, that you might kill me!!! Oh no, course you didn't! What a wonderful day this is turning out to be! First it's so hot that I feel like melting, then I get nearly killed by a kender, and now I can't find the bracelt I was working on!" she said as she began to stomp around the area she had been sitting in, studying the floor for her half finished work. "What were you doing running like that anyway?" she asked the kender, lifting up a couple of rocks and looking underneath them, her temper starting to cool slightly.Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

Leileia regarded the Kender Coldly, while Liana smiled, and struggled not to laugh.

The two women where identical but for their hair color and their eyes... Leiliea was as cool as a moonlit stream, her silver hair and her Ice-blue eyes were stern as well as beautiful. Her robes where white trimmed in silver, and she carried a staff made of Crystal and silver.

Liana was more earthy, her golden hair was braided back, and her deep brown eyes where as akin to the sun as her twin was akin to the moon...Her armor was of golden dragon scales, the largest scale was the length of her pinky finger, and only half as wide. She wore her sword strapped across her back, and the hilt was fashioned as a golden dragon.

Leiliea spoke up, her voice less boisterous than her twins' more soft and musical, like clear water over crystal. "Where where you headed friend?" she asked regarding the dwarf repectfully, while keeping her pouch and her staff well in sight.Oh, Moons of Mercy, Moons of Light

Hagather snatched the bracelet back off of the kender and scowled at him. "Hoopak indeed!" she mumbled and turned to the two women, who she now saw were twins.

One of them had a warm friendly face, and she looked like she could enjoy quite a few ales by the fireside if given the chance. Hagather instantly took a liking to her.

The other one, however, the one that spoke to Hagather, sent shivers down the spine of the dwarf. There was something cold about this woman that didn't sit well with her. How could two people from the same womb look so alike yet be so different.

Still studying the cold looking twin, who seemed, to all intense and purposes to be a mage, she answered.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere at the moment! I was only supposed to be staying here a couple of days, but my pony died, and I'm stranded here indefinately by the looks of things. I was quite happy aswell until this heat wave and this blasted kender!!!" she said, her voice rising slightly as she mentioned the kender, who was, at that moment, about to go in the front door of her rented accomodation..........................

BIC: Leiliea smiled, though the smile didn't reach her blue eyes. Liana laughed and then turned to the Dwarf. "well, we where heading for the inn of this town, would you care to join us?" She asked then turned to the kender "You too my little friend!" she called.

Leiliea shot a look of disdain at her twin at themention of the kender, and her hand clenched tightly around her silver staff. (the staff is pure silver, with veins of clear and rose quartz swirling all around it. Obviously Dwarven make, but infused with the magic of the elves.) "Yes, please join us..." Leiliea said to Hagather, in a mild voice...She looked away, refusing to meet Hagather's eyes for long...and it made the Dwarf wonder just what price did this girl pay for her testing....Oh, Moons of Mercy, Moons of Light

((OOC: No need to convince me! I've been eyeing this thread and was going to post yesterday but ran out of time...

Hm...it seems to me (and I'm going to take a bit of poetic lisense with timing) that we need both a half-elf and an elven princess! Hehe. I've always wanted to play an elven princess but it was always too cliche...I'm assuming this will take on a life of its own and not be a total mirror of the Chronicles so I'm adding my princess in right away. If anyone minds, yell at me and I change it. :P

Btw, good luck getting Ontarys to join. I think he's getting bored. And he's going to yell at me for this...

Hmm...names, names...))

"Kaliehtaphere Half-elven! I order you to stop following me!"

The young half-elf skidded to a stop and heaved a sigh, sending his perpetually untidy black hair into complete disarray. He eyed the indignant elf before him with a calm expression that didn't quite reach his cinnimon eyes. His form was tall as all elves but his grace was undermined by his lanky form as if his body wanted to fill out to that of a human but stay small as an elve's.

It occured to him then, for the fifth time that day, just how beautiful she was. Aliariana, Daughter of the Speaker of the Sun, glared at him with her royal violet eyes, her chin tilted just enough to give off a regal air that made her seem both a queen and a spoiled child. Her hair, making even sunlight seem dull, was mainly a soft gold with aurate and scarlet highlights that shone as if they were fine strands of precious metals woven into her hair. She wore the softest of silks the color of the clouds during a spring shower, rejuvenating...

Kalieht sighed again. He had been following her royal highness for just over an hour after she had slipped past--so gracefully!--her own royal guard. He had just caught a glimpse of her as she disappeared from the path and hadn't had the time to call anyone...something he was sure he was going to regret later.

Leaning up against a tree, the half-elf rolled his eyes to the sky and then just stared at her. He had known her for years--his elven father was a member of the royal guards assigned to the princess--and she was always doing stuff like this. One of the reasons she has so many guards, he thought sullenly.

Aliariana leveled her violet gaze at him and spoke, her voice delicate as the highest note of a lute...wavering with triumph. "I'm not going back."

"What are you going to do here? You've never been here before."

((OOC: Um...where is here?))

"Oh and I suppose you have?" she shot back. He started. Actually... he thought, but didn't say anything. She went on. "I am going into this town and I am going into an Inn and I'm going to see what happens! And I'll thank you not to follow me any further."

Placing her small hands on her hips, she gave him a look that said clearly she fully expected him to obey at once. Why not? Everyone else did.

Kalieht just gazed back at her, knowing she would, as always, be surprised when he didn't budge. He couldn't figure out why. He never did what she told him to. He had once thought it would discourage her from staying around him--the elves did not approve and it would save him a lot of trouble--but now he did it simply out of exasperation.

Sure enough, her eyes widened in surprise. She spun in place, sending delicate strains of gold and red flying, and started towards the town. Kalieht sighed once again and moved to walk beside her, subtly steering her towards the nearest Inn.

((OOC- a knight? how about Eli? Oh by the way, hi! I’m back!!))

She is (For the purposes of this thread anyway) a highly strung human woman, and knight of Solamnia. Her long black hair reaches her waist and her grey eyes flash angrily at injustice. She is a loyal friend and a strong ally but it takes alot for her to trust people, due to her tumultuous past. She is rumoured to be a daughter of Kitiara Uth Matar but nothing is confirmed.

She stood at the counter of the Grilled Griffon Inn waiting for service. Shifting painstakingly in her constricting armour, she prayed for a good room and hearty food.

“I just don’t need another adventure right away” she muttered. Unfortunately, these things came all too often when one needed a rest...

Hagather looked at the nice twin, the one with the warm face and the golden hair, and smiled warmly at her. "Well, if your buying the ale, then I'll happily join you! My name is Hagather Rockbreaker by the way." she said, extending a small yet delicate hand, something rare in a dwarf, and the warrior, at least that's what Hagather presumed she was, took it, shaking it with a gusto that almost landed the dwarf on her rear again. She looked at the other twin, the cold mage, and extended the same curtesy to her, and when the dwarf took the frail mages hand, she was afraid she might break it.

Then, there was a loud bang from inside the dwarfs rented accomodation, and a mutter of, "My, you shouldn't leave things like this lying about! I'll give it back to that nice dwarf later..............." Hagather was in the hose like a lightning bolt and emerged pulling the kender by his collar, the kender particullarly unfazed by it all.

"You're coming with us, you little sod! I'm not leaving you here, I'll come back and find my house disintergrated! You're staying by me at all times, got it!" she said firmly as she continued to pull the kender along. She headed off in the direction of the nearest inn, called the Grilled Griffon. It wasn't as nice as the Inn of the Last Home, but it was nearer. Hagather then realised that her and the kender were alone.

She turned back to the two elves and yelled. "Are you coming or not?!" before continuing on her way.

((OOC: Actually we have a mage...one of the twins. However, we do need a coupla barbarians, a red head, and a slut! (actually, we don't need a Kitiara character. I just wanted to call her a slut. :P)))

Kalieht slowed as the two elves entered Solace. It was his mother's hometown and he had come here often to visit her, slipping away from Qualinesti for days at a time. His father--whom Kalieht had always thought still secretly loved his human mother--had ignored the times that he had left, claiming that he had no knowledge of where the boy was going, but not trying to stop him either.

And then, two years ago, Kaliehtaphere's mother had died and he hadn't set foot in this tree top town since.

Aliariana, of couse, didn't know this and her small steps didn't slow one bit as she entered the town, her violet eyes wide with childlike wonder. They immediatly located the nearest tavern, those intelligent yet so ignorant of the world eyes, and her feet took her there with quick grace.

Kalieht sighed, and forced himself forward. She was heading for the Grilled Griffin Inn, not the most pleasent of places. But the young princess would not allow herself to be steered anywhere else. She entered the tavern and then sat down, looking at the establishment with a disdain that was normally reserved for humans.

The half-elf sat beside her and rested a hand on his sword. It was a masterpiece, that sword...only the best for families of the royal guard. Made by dwarves, the center of the hilt was graced by a carved opal that appeared pure white most of the time. It was offset by cloudy obsidian and a ring of words written in an odd mixture of Common and Elven. The dwarven smith, when he presented it to the young half-elf, had said the white represented the pure nature of the elves, marred by the clouded, changing nature of humans. It was a constant reminder to Kalieht and he wasn't sure why he kept the sword, except for that it was of excellent make.

"Look!" Ali whispered, tugging on his clothes and pulling him out of his reverie. A knight wearing the armor of Solmnia sat nearby, eating, her grey eyes missing nothing in the tavern. The elfchild stared for a moment. She had never seen such a knight before.

The half-elf said nothing, allowing the elven princess to bring his attention to all the strange things in the Inn. As soon as she saw everything she wished to comment on, they could get back to camp...he was deep in the Abyss anyway for this...no need to prolong it with conversation."You know, Bob, it’s not that I’m lazy…it’s that I just don’t care." –Peter Gibbins: Office Space

Balthus raised his head from the table. His balding top glistened with sweat from the summer's heat. The cleric had been drowning his sorrows in ale for several hours now. His half finished bowl of stew still sat on his table. Balthus shifted his girth, sitting up straight in his chair. His pale blue robe was stained in spots where beer and food had slopped on it in his drunkenness. He would have to make a trip to his room to change.

The cleric grunted as he stood, shoving his chair back with a pudgy hand, he took a couple of wobbly steps. After a little struggling, he grabbed the hand rail and heaved himself up the stairs. Entering the room, he struggled with the robe until it came off. He switched into fresh clothes and headed back downstairs to finish his stew."Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?"

Hagather accepted the dwarven spirits that Liana ordered for her. She raised her tankard and was about to drink (deeply, after all, it had been a very trying day so far) to Liana's health, when the other one, the mage, Leiliea, motioned to her twin, pointing out a female elf and her half breed companion.

When the dwarf heard who the female elf was, she nearly choked, and had to be patted on the back rather vigorusly, so that she did not go to her doom. She breathed heavily and tried to regain some of her composure. She was about to get up and introduce herself, when she noticed the blade that the half elf was carrying, one hand laid protectivly on the hilt.

Hagather smiled, recognising the workmanship even from this distance, and made her way over to parlay with the half elf. The dwarf clomped over to the two, her heavy boots making the floorboards shake. She looked at the elven princess, tried to smooth down her unruly grey hair, and made an attempt at a curtsey, which looked absured when done by the dwarf. hagather could hear the kender, Thistledown, laughing, and had to slowly count to 5 in order not to go over and rip his head from his shoulders. Balthus sat down at his table. Someone had removed his bowl, assuming he was going to pass out. The cleric slumped back in his chair. Noone had the responsibility he had, and noone believed he had it either. He had found something. Well, actually an old dwarf named Geigenkel had given him something that only he could use, being a cleric. Now he had power and he didn't want it, or know what to do with it. "More stew," he mumbled to one of the wenches and waited."Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?"

Aliariana looked up at the two Silvenesti twins that addressed her and studied them for a moment, trying to detect anything condescending in their eyes. She found none and wondered at that—apparently these two had given up the hatred the Silvenesti usually felt for their Qualinesti cousins. Smiling a radiant smile, the elfchild greeted them with words in elven.

“I was, shall we say, curious about this town and secured permission from the Speaker to visit this town in the company of Kaliehtaphere. He has been here before and promised to show me everything. It would not do for a princess to know nothing of the world.” Pools of violet peered at the twins; the elfchild was the picture of innocence.

For his part, Kalieht sunk father into his seat, wishing he could melt through the floor. He could tell that, even if they were respectful of the Qualinesti, these two elves weren’t going to be very fond of the idea of a half-breed as the Speaker’s daughter’s only company.

They gazed at him and the half-elf turned scarlet. He was saved, however, by the dwarf that come up beside him. Aliariana inclined her head in response to the dwarf’s attempt at a curtsy and Kalieht felt saved.

The relief was washed away a second later when the dwarf asked for his sword. Aware of the eyes of three full elves on him, he reluctantly handed it over, wondering why he didn’t want to let go.

Hagather held the sword in one hand and let the other trace the intracate markings on the hilt. Such fine workmanship! She studied it a moment longer, trying to find the detail that she felt sure would be there. Then, her fingers traced over the familiar intials, DR, that had become respected in the world of dwarven work. She smiled.

"It's as I thought youngen, this sword was made by my father. See here, these intials, DR, stand for Dructus Rockbreaker. He was a fine man, and it warms my heart to see this piece in such worthy young hands."Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

"It's as I thought youngen, this sword was made by my father. See here, these intials, DR, stand for Dructus Rockbreaker. He was a fine man, and it warms my heart to see this piece in such worthy young hands."

Kalieht numbly took the sword back into his hands, staring at the lady dwarf. Now that she had said so, he could almost see the resemblence, hear the same ring of her voice...

"In here, son! It's ready..." Japhaletaphere smiled at his son, noting the eager look in those young cinnimon eyes. "As the future captain of the Royal Guard, it is about time you got your own sword..."

Skipping alongside his father, Kalieht was forced to take two steps for every one the taller--and wiser--elf took. He admired his father immensly and could see no greater honor in life than taking his place as one of the great swordsmen of the family.

They entered a long chamber made of soft gray stone. It was the forge of Dructus Rockbreaker and burned with the heat of many fire chasms. The two elves had traveled far to get here--on the whim of the Speaker, of course--and it was the first time Kalieht had been out of Qualinesti.

It was also the first time he had seen a dwarf, but the elfchild was too disaplined to show his surprise. Tossing his messy hair back, his chin at a proud angle, Kalieht approached the fire. A hammer thudded through the hall, stopping at the child's approach.

A stout dwarf with kind eyes and a bushy beard gazed into Kaliehtaphere's cinnimon eyes. He handed the sword over with reverance and watched as the elfchild's eyes shone as he gazed at the sleek obsidian handle with its pure white opal. Kalieht could have stood there for hours, but a sound shattered his world...

"Tsk, tsk, tsk..."

Cinnimon eyes blinked and searched for the dwarf's. The elder dwarf spoke softly, almost more to the firelight then the elf. "It's a shame...well, there it is, boy. White for the pure nature of your elven soul and black for the changing ways of humans, marred so...torn between two worlds..."

Had Kalieht been thinking straight, he would have noticed the sad sarcasm placed on the word 'marred', the tired glance the dwarf gave to the elven escort...but Kalieht wasn't thinking straight. He felt crushed and knew then that he would never be the Captain of the Royal Guard...it was strange enough that his father--the father of a half-breed--should have such a privledge. He wished to throw the sword across the room, but it would not leave, it stayed, burning his young hand.

Dashing away his tears angrily, Kalieht thanked the dwarf as politness demanded and started back towards his father. He didn't hear the small sigh that escaped the dwarf's lips...

"Kalieht! You're staring!" Aliariana poked the half-elf in the ribs and giggled as he jumped.

Kalieht settled back down and blinked. The memory...it had seemed almost as if it wasn't his own...thinking about things he had failed to notice? He shook his head, confused. He had always thought the old dwarf was insulting him...

"Well, you two certainly are a long way from Silvanesti!" the princess exclaimed with a winning smile, impatient at the silence. She was unaware of Kalieht's revelation and didn't notice as he looked at the ladydwarf and gave her a winning smile of his own. Hagather smiled at the young half breed, and placed a hand on his, which seemed to trace the detail on the hilt of the sword unconciously. "My father said to me that one day, you would be able to understand the true nature of your heritage, and would be able to accept yourself for who you are and who you are yet to be. And he told me that the day you managed that, would be the day the stone on the hilt would reveal it's true self........................

"Although it was just a brief meeting, my fatehr was quite enchanted of you, and said that you would go on to do great things. I can see now why he should feel like that..............."

Her words trailed off as she listened into the last part of the converstaion between the elves. Though she could not understand it due to the fact that it was being conducted in elven, she caught the way the mage-twin seemed to dominate the softer, more natural almost of the two. She caugth the scornful look that passed from one to the other, as if the warrior had almost let out a secret. Hagather didn't like secrets, but decided to put it to the back of her mind for the time being. There would be a time and a place for such things to be remembered.

She gave the half elf's hand one last squeeze and spoke loudly to all concerned, fumbling at her belt for something. "I invite you all to sup with me tonight in this establishment, my treat! Well, at least it would be if I could find my money pouch. Now where did that go................................?"

Kalieht stared at the dwarf and then at his sword, almost glaring as if he could make it reveal its secrets. It did nothing but lay in his lap.

Sighing the half elf slid it into its sheath and turned his attention back to the three full elves. Aliariana was listening with rapt attention, noting words and gestures...

The words were in elven, and Kalieht noticed that the ladydwarf was listening but not understanding. Turning to her, he surprised her by speaking in her own tongue. “It seems they are explorers and don’t like the usual way their people view the world…”

He didn’t mention the fact that the one had stepped on the other’s foot to silence her, but he was pretty sure the shrewd dwarf caught it anyway.

Aliariana didn’t miss it either, despite her wandering expression. Her violet eyes narrowed, as if she couldn’t believe that someone would dare lie to her. “I see…” she said, drawing it out till it was clear she didn’t. “Well, you have yet to tell me your names and after that, perhaps we can both be ‘entranced’ with this town together…a tour Kalieht?” She smiled sweetly at him. He nodded absently, reaching over to extract his quill from Thistledown's grasp and she turned back to the twins. “Then perhaps you would like to come back to camp with me? Have you seen Qualinesti yet in your travels?”

Kalieht moaned. He was in so much trouble...he muttered darkly about it in dwarven, drawing a glare from Aliariana and a smile from Hagather.

Kalieht stared at the kender. He had never known one to look nervous, or talk so fast, or not have a "good" excuse...he often wondered why people even bothered to ask or yell...but apparently something had finally gotten through to one...

Aliariana, always the diplomat with matters not pertaining to herself, stood silently and placed a soothing hand on the mage twin's shoulder. "Now, it seems, this little guy did not mean to take the purse, right?" Thistledown nodded miserably. Ali smiled at him and then at the knight. "Lady Knight, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Perhaps you would like to join us for a drink? I am Aliariana, Daughter of the Speaker of the Sun. This is Kaliehtasphere, my betrothed."

Waiting for the knight to join them or decline, the princess smiled sweetly first at the twins--to say they could introduce themselves if they so wished--then at Thistledown—she was too cultured to get mad at a kender, unless he tried to steal one of her hairpins--and then finally at Kalieht, who was staring at her as if he had seen a ghost. A stunned silence spread from the half-elf to all the companions, till it escaped no one's notice that he was taken in complete surprise by the elfchild's last announcement...

Eli frowned, a little perturbed by the Kender’s response but wordlessly accepted the return of her coin purse. Turning to the elf-woman, she bowed.

"Eli Trevalyan Wolff, Knight of the Sword and follower of Paladine, Kiri-Koli and Habbakuk.”

“I would be honoured to join you both for a drink, you seem a lovely couple.” The situation’s shock-value was lost on the knight. “But I wouldn’t want to impose, if you aren’t sure.” Again she smiled, understanding that perhaps the elves would want to be alone together. “I too have been in love.”Murders are like peanuts. "I too have been in love."

Kalieht glanced sharply at the ladyknight, so sharply that he fell out of his chair! A round of laughter flowed through the Inn, followed by many, many remarks about "His Grace".

When the half-elf finally picked himself off the floor--blushing scarlet--the lady knight, assured by Aliariana that she wasn't imposing, had seated herself at the table and was having a drink on the elf's tab. Kalieht stared at her as the other made light conversation. He heard no words but hers, ringing over and over in his head.

He couldn't be in love with her! She was impulsive, self-serving, a spoiled brat! A child, a...a...beautiful princess that was infatuated with him, he now realized he had seen all the signs...

A full elf.

His cinnimon gaze went cold and for a moment he glared at the ladyknight. But then, realizing how childish he was being, he sighed and looked away. It would do no good to argue with Aliariana...later perhaps he would talk with her and find out that she was joking...and if not, gently dissuade her of the notion...

He looked at her for a moment. She was radiant, cheerfully chatting about nothing, her violet eyes wide as if there was no where in the world she would rather be than here listening to these people. She seemed especially taken to the mage twin, asking her about her staff, then questioning the ladyknight about her brave conquests and rules of honor...they shared story after story and Kalieht heard none of them...

It was appearent to anyone who looked that he was too confused to concentrate on much of anything.

Two pairs of eyes, violet and cinnamon, took note of the arrival of the barbarians, dressed in thier strange furs. One, the male, glanced around the tavern as if he expected trouble from every corner...

The two Qualinesti stole glance after glance, but for different reasons. Aliariana had never seen a barbarian before--few humans ever entered elven lands and they were rumored to hate elves--and watched them with intense curiousity...noting that the one, the woman, had a regal expression that almost mirrored her own...

Kalieht watched with some curiosity and some weariness. He had seen barbarians before, but none this decorated and wondered, if there was to be trouble--and he always seemed to be drawn into said trouble--which side he would end up taking...

He sighed in resigned confusion. Fate will happen...one can only try to enlighten it when it does... he thought, frowning when he couldn't quite remember who had said that to him...

DarkWind stood protectively over CloudTree. "Leave now or i'll nail your tonge to the table..." He glared at the drunk who had no intention of leaving them alone. It would appear that he had seen Cloudtree and thought he could......have her. The very idea boiled DarkWind's blood.

He grabbed the foul smelling drunk by the ale soaked shirt and peered dangerously into the mans eyes. "Get out of my face...or i'll rearrange yours.....perhaps it would be an improvement?" The drunk attempted to swing for DarkWind...who shoved the man backwards knocking him more off balance than the drink had and as such he fell to the floor. DarkWind was there with his sword at the drunks throat.

"I'll leave...i'll leave....i meant no harm to you or the....lady." He leered in direction....it was a mistake. DarkWind pressed the sword closer and drew a drop of blood. "Get up and get out." The man did so....he stood up and turned around...as did DarkWind....big mistake.

The drunk picked up one of the chairs and ran to DarkWind....bringing it crashing down over his shoulders. DarkWind hit the floor hard....he was not unconscious but the blow had stunned him. All at once...the Inn burst in panic.....or was it excitement....he couldn't tell....people were shouting and yelling at each other....he was too dazed to tell. The only thing that was clear to him the Cloudtree was in danger....he looked up at her. Til the heart's blood boils or the bones be ash,

Liana drew her sword, her eyes locked on the drunk...All semblence of being drunk vanished from her elven features. With a quick sidestep, Liana placed herself in front of the the Barbarian woman. "Watch it now...You're getting awful close to hurting yourself..." she muttered, her brown eyes narrowed.

Leiliea had stood up too...Her hand held three rose petals, one white one red, and one yellow. She crushed the white in her hand, and brought the spell to her mind...ready to cast it at a moment's notice.Storms Do not respond to heartfelt pleas

Kalia, what do you think about a male Tika? obviously he'd have some battle experiance apart from frying pans and he's not going to prance around worrying that he's not as pretty as the elves! but i have a few ideas. Let me know if its okay to join)

OOC:

Oooooookay!!!

This thread needs reviiving, and I mean NOW!!!! I know that it kinda died cos I kinda went off on a bit of Wanderlust again, but, damn it, this thread that I started after a chatette with Thorn needs to live again, even if I didn't know what it was gonna be about when i started it!!!!! :) :) :) :):)

Right, lets see if I can do a brief recap! :D

What characters do we have? (I can't remember the names of them, so you'll just have to make do with descriptions I'm affraid! :P *blush*)

We have Kalia who is playing the "Caramon and Raistlin" of the party, and they both happen to be female and are elves as well, i think! :)

Starlite is playing the "Tanis and Laurana" characters true to form :) :) :)

Dark Master and Tolk are playing the "Riverwind and Goldmoon" characters respectivly, and we still don't know what that damned "magical item" is yet!!!!! :) :) :)

Kit is playing the "sturm" character. :) :) nuff said!

I'm playing the "Flint" character, who in this case is a female dwarf called Hagather. I can actually tell you this characters name, but only cos it's me who's playing her!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D *blush*

I think it was thistledown who was playing the kender, but I didn't go back that far in the posts.

And finally we have Thorn, who is playing a cleric-who I think is gonna be like the bloke at the start of chronicals who gets healed by the blue crystal staff. Be damned if I can remember his name though, but you know who I mean!!!!! :) :) :)

Right, back to the story. I get the feeling that right now is probably the right time to find out what Tolk's character ("Cloudmoon"? no, I think I just ade that up!!! :)) is carrying. We haven't actually done anything interesting yet, so the story line isn't really a story line so I'll just start from a point, and yall follow if you want!!! K?! :) :) :)

BIC:

Hagather sat up with a start. She'd passed out!!! How could she have? she was a disgrace to dwarf kind, passing out after only two dwarf spirits! She should be severly punished! She should......................go and get another round!!!!

She got up and went over to the bar, ordered herself another dwarf spirit, and was about to down it when she suddenly noticed the twins that she had met earlier talking to two barbarians that must have come in while she was taking her little........ahem!........nap. She thought it only right that she should go over and introduce herself, so that's what she went to do!

However..........

When she got there, she noticed that they weren't relly noticing her! She shouted, she stomped her booted feet, she threatened to take their kneecaps out with the blunt end of her axe, but all to no avail. She humphed in exasperation and downed the rest of her spirits.

She was about to give up and go an get herself another, when she noticed that the female barbarian was carrying a pack, and one of the straps on that pack had come loose. So, In a last ditch attempt to get someones attention, she pulled on it.

"Hello there lass, my name is......." that was, however, as far as she got.

Feeling the dwarf tugging on the strap, the barbarian woman turned around as if her life were at risk, and bowled Hagather over. The dwarf still had hold of the pack strap, and the pack was pulled off the barbarians shoulder and fell down after the dwarf.

Hagather landed with such force on the floor that for the second time that night she was knocked unconcious, except this time it was a little bit more serious. Blood started to trickle from one of her ears and pool in a small puddle on the floor beside her.

The pack flew and landed about four feet away from the dwarf, the conents spilling into the inn...................Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

((OOC: For the record, my characters are Aliariana, the spoiled Daughter of the Speaker of the Sun and Kalieht, the half-elf.

And I only know that cuz I looked it up. :D))

Chaos erupted, starting with Kalieht roaring in protest. He liked the female dwarf and that...that...barbarian...

The patrons in the tavern went mad. Fights broke out, people started calling complete strangers names and sending challenges...no one seemed to know or care what had really happened to the bleeding dwarf. There were shouts for the townguard (the shouters had only seconds before they were clubbed) and screams for more blood.

Kalieht scrambled to Hagather's side, pausing only to glare at the barbarian and retrive as much as he could of the dwarf's spilled pack. Constantly underfoot, he didn't dare get everything as it was kicked around the tavern floor in the insane scrambled.

Kalieht ripped off a part of his shirt and placed it on the dwarf's head to stop the bleeding. It wasn't bad, he realized with a sigh of relief. At most, Hagather would wake with a headache...which, he mused, was bad...dwarves with headaches having something of a notorious reputation.

"Stop this minute!"

A high voice rang over the din and the half-elf looked up to see Aliariana standing on a table shouting at the crowd. They did stop, not because she told them to, but because they couldn't understand what this child was doing yelling in the first place.

Aliariana, of course, was encouraged. Why shouldn't she be? Who would dare disobey? She leveled her imperial violet gaze at them and continued.

"I am the Daughter of the Speaker of the Sun and I demand that you all cease at once and that an explanation and apology be issued to this poor dwarf!"

Kalieht just groaned.Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

((ooc; for the record, it was Cloudtree's pack that Hagathar spilled ))

Cloudtree, in an attempt to grab her pack before it was too late, suddenly found herself sprawled on the floor. She watched, horrified, as the flute, carved from a single piece of amythest, clattered out of the bag and out of her reach.

"Darkwind!" She shouted, frightened for the flute. She scrambled toward it, getting kicked and stepped on inthe process, but when the elven girl spoke, everyone stopped. Someone saw the flute. People parted. Soon, the whole bar saw Cloudtree sprawled on the ground, her hands bleeding and outstretched toward the amythest flute. She stood, trying to regain as much composure as she possibly could, and bent down to pickup the flute.

"No you don't, you piece of filth!" one of the burlier patrons yelled. He picked up the flute and tossed it towards a cohort, but Cloudtree caught it in midair.

Cloudtree lookedc around the silent bar, at all the bloodshed. She looked at Darkwind. "I can heal them, you know that ..." She said in their own language. However, she would wait for her bodyguard's consent before acting.

((OOC: Eep, sorry about the bag thing.))

"Ali!" Kalieht yelled over the crowd. Chaos had once again ensued, but now at least it was ignoring the dwarf and the strange group before him. Well, all except the princess, who was still on that damn table...

"Elven bitch! Who are you to tell us what to do?" and various forms of this statement rang through the tavern. The half-elf couldn't believe there were so many ways to say that one simple thought...

Aliariana, of course, responded in kind, looking indignant before, during and after she ducked the axe that almost had her neck longing for her head. She remained indignant as Kalieht pulled her off the table and howled when she cut her leg.

Deal, half-elf, deal, Kalieht thought, trying to bite down a angry retort. The urge to just smack her was growing...

Hagather moaned. Kalieht dragged the elven princess to the dwarf's side and, for once, Ali shut up. The half-elf knew he couldn't lift the dwarf by himself...

"You!" he said, pointing at the male barbarian. "Hagather wasn't trying to pull anything. You were ignoring her! And now she's bleeding. The least you could do is help me get her outside, away from this crowd. Then, maybe, she'll have a chance to wake up and safely take her leave of you!"Computer games don't affect kids…if Pacman had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching on magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Cloudtree didn't like it. The violence, the hate, the blood ... she knew she could help. She couldn't just stand there. Who cares what they thought; people here in pain here.

She brought the flute up to her lips and played. The melody that issued was one of a clear, resounding tone and immediately filled the inn and quieted every voice. Wounds were healed, aches washed away, calm crept its' way into every being there that night.

When she felt she had done all she could, Cloudtree ended her song, and stood shaking slightly looking at Darkwind."Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens." -- Gimli, The Fellowship Of The Ring

Hagather groaned.

All she could hear above the loud banging in her head was the sound of sweet music, drifting in, out and around her concious and subconcious self, merging the two into one. Moments before, her sub concoius self had wanted to submerse itself in the cool, soft blackness that was slowly enveloping her. Now, her concious self was giving her a right royal telling off for passing out again, not just the once now, oh no, twice in one night!!!! And the music, that beautiful music.............As she lay there, she could feel her head start to feel better, the pounding receeding till it was noting more than a tap, before going althogether. She opened her eyes.

The first thing that she saw was the concerned face of the young half elf staring down at her. As the dwarf opened her eyes, Kalheit took an instinctive move backwards, as if fearing the dwarf's wrath after being bowled over like that. But Hagather wasn't angry. A sense of calm had washed over her, and it all seemed to stem from that music. Where was it coming from.......................

The dwarf pulled herself up and stood on legs that wobbled a bit when weight was first distributed between them. She looked around the inn. Everyone seemed to be in the same serene, almost trance like state that she was in, all of them were looking in the same direction.........at the barbarian woman.

As the woman played, an aura seemed to mass around her. She looked to the dwarf as if she was raidiating out a soft light, that branched off from her form and whisped around everyone present. Hagather slowly walked up to the woman........then she stopped....................

Darkwind returned her gaze. He was fixed on her....the flute....he felt alive for the first time in weeks, was it the flute, or the sight of her, flushed with the danger, that wild look in her eyes, her beauty shone like the silver moon that streamed in through the window. He ached for her more that ever, and knew he couldn;t have loved her more than he did at that moment. But the passion fire died when he realised the trouble she was in.

He dived to her side, leaping and bounding chairs and broken tables. He came close to her, his face nearly touching hers......"Are you alright Cloudtree.....", he looked down to the flute, it shook in her hands......"I'm sorry i let it come to this......forgive me?"
