OOC: Set in fifth age. An idea that i thought i would try.

A new magic has been discovered. Not the magic founded by Palin Majere, the primordial magic of krynn. This is something like the mystics of the heart, however this power comes from the soul.

The magic is powered by the soul, and the level of mastery is really determined by the faith that a person has in themselves. If they believe in themselves, they can reach this power and use it to shape magic. People using this magic are incredibly independant for they count on themselves, so this is the major draw back.

These new mages do not learn from others teaching them spells, but from listening to their souls to guide them.

There aren't any specialised areas in which the mages study. Only the way in which they shape their souls energy.

The main storyline: The great dragon Overlords are enraged with this new magic that they for some reason cannot learn, especially Beryl, who believes that by learning this magic, she will become the most powerful overlord. The new mages are more than a match for the overlords, yet cannot overpower them alone, because they are too stubborn to ask for help. The dragon overlords have discovered away in which to absorbed the mystical essence, much the same as during the dragon purge, of the mages to increase their own magic.

I will play Omadon, a ' Soul Mage' his faith in himself in unsurpassed, making him one the most powerful soul mages and a prime target for the dragon overlords.

IC: Omadon looked over the barren wasteland of Malys' domain. He was scouting her land in order to gather information. What beasts inhabit it. How many underling dragons does she control and what the layout of her volcano lair is. Where would the best point be to launch an attack on her. A foolhardy one it would be, but a costly one on her part. His plan was to destroy her volcano lair, level the damn thing in fact. It would then take her a lengthy period of time to shape or find a new one. While she is diverting her energies into that, Omadon would progressivly dispatch her underlings, weakening hewr defenses, the mass an assault against the beast. If Malys should fall, the other Overlords would not be far behind.

He had already spent a great deal of time, hiding from Malys while he had conducted this research and was growing weary. Reaching within himself, he touched his soul, shaped the energy into a transportation spell and disappered in a wisp of smoke, reappearing in a large cave.

This was Omadon's dwelling. It was a hollow he had created in the heart of a mountain, with several shafts leading to the surface for an air supply, cleverly disguised with magic. From this central cave, a large network of tunnels spread out, connecting other caves which held many things. Treasures, lost artifacts, ancient creatures which he was studying, some of which were the beasts created by Malys and other dragon overlords, such as the beings known as spawn.

Standing in a scorched circle in the centre of the cave, Omadon sent a calling to other soul mages and those mages using the primordial magic. He was going against his principles and asking for help. Not just mages, but any beings willing to help. Altough he had faith in him self, he could not destroy all the underlings and then expect to defeat Malys afterwards.

This Soul Mage needed help.

(OOC: I don't know about using any of my characters. Thistledown is the youngest, and is 24 by the Chaos war. That would make him 44 when Mayls first appeared, and in his 50's by the time people wanted to take Mayls out. J'mes and Timesplit would be too old too, and Javert will be dead by then probably. Might have to create somebody new.)The sword, it thirsts to drink of man.

Omadon finished the calling spell then stepped out of the circle. He then made his way through one of the many tunnel until he came to a slightly smaller cavern. Walking through the protective shield he had set up, Omadon walked over to the large stone table upon which sat a huge leather bound book. On the front 'Overlords' was written.

This was his book containing all his research carried out into the habits, lairs and powers of all the dragon overlords. Most of the book was concentrated on Mayls, then Beryl, Khellendos, Sable and Gellidus.

He added what he had learned about her lair, its minions and points on which would be best to focus any sort of attack on.

It would be the best part of a few days before any answers were to be received. Soul Mages are exceptionally stubborn and would take a great amount of time before they any of them reached a decision. His only hope was that Malys never intercepted the calling.'From earth to sky, from leaves to roots,

((OOC: I think I would try out my D&D character in this one Mwahaha. Chaotic evil, so he's also a bit... disconnected. Dreidun, the Drow Druid. I know, lotsa D's.... but I think he might work in this thread.))

Wandering in the darkness, with eyes that can see better here than in the light, a Dark Elf wanders toward a Volcano, making a map of Ansolon can be rough, but when this is your first visit, it's not any bit easier. Most Drow live underground, Dreidun liked this idea, but was cast out for not wanting to assault Silvanesti, since he would most likely not be able to break the shield, (nor would the other dark elves but if he said that they'd kill him for doubting them.) Dreidun decided to make a map of places that might be easier and less protected to capture.

((OOC: Okay a bit about Dreidun, like most drow he has purlplish tinted skin, he's about.... 5'7" a little short but pretty muscular. His weapons, hehe. Enchanted mace, (when we role-play ourselves into town I'll figure out what it does) Kite shield, and studded leather armor.

I'm not sure why I was allowed to give him a crossbow too, but I have a easy-going DM so I got lucky there. He's basically a refined summoner. So umm expect some wolves and ravens and maybe bears.))

OOC: Hope it is okay for me to join, i'm new and need to get the feel of the place. This sounds like quite an interesting thread. I will play another soul mage if you don't mind Dark Master.

Hearing the call of another soul mage, Horus pondered the strange message. A soul mage..asking for help. This was most unusal. However he decided to answer, if only out of curiousity. Horus had heard of Omadon and knew of the mages power. While not as powerful as the fellow mage, he was strong enough.

Closing his eyes, he concentrated on the origin of the message, and sent a reply that he would meet Omadon where he wishes.

OOC: Thanks Dark Master. I think i have it pretty sorted so far. Using your soul to power the magic.

IC: Walking outside his mud hut in which he stayed, for he preferred to live a humble life, Horus breathed in the morning air, fresh and sweet. However should the brute overlords have their ways, the air will no longer be sweet, but scorched with fire and magic.

While waiting for Omadons reply, he sat on the grass beside a large oak tree and pondered the furure.

Pan heard the call of the magi echoing through his mind, and smiled. His work here in the lair of Bayek (Blue dragon) was done, he must respond. He murmured to himself: “Breathe Deep, Seek Peace” and vanished, reappearing in Omadon’s dwelling.

“Greetings. Please state the nature of your summoning.”

OOC: It s okay pan, it was my fault anyway.

IC: Turning towards his newly arrived guest, Omadon spoke "Welcome, please have a seat." Raising a hand, two seat appeared, one behind Pan and the other behind Omadon.

"I wish to discuss matters of a tempory alliance, however i would prefer to wait slightly longer until more have arrived. Do not fret, it will not be long. And if you would please excuse me, i shall return in but a minute, help your self to refreshments." Pointing to a nearby wooden table, a small feast appeared, crystal goblets and fine wine.

Bowing slightly he walked through to a back cavern, concealed with a dark mist, only Omadon could pass through. Picking a glass orb, off the shelf, he channeled energy into it and thought of Horus. Suddenly an image of the fellow soul mage appeared. Though Horus would be unable to see Omadon, he could at least hear him. "Horus. Please, delay no longer. If you wish to hear what i have to say, come to my dwelling. To find your way, tap into this message and use it to transport along." Placing the orb down Omadon stepped back and waited for Horus to join them. 'From earth to sky, from leaves to roots,

OOC: If alright Dark Master I would like to play a protector of Omadon, some what like a knight, If thats alright with you? For now though I'll just write in a bit about my charater.

IC: Zakath stood quietly in the back cavern not even listening to what Omadon was saying. Though it was quite impossible for Omadon to really even leave this dark shadow's haunting eyes. Even in the shadows the fire beneath the hood of this cloaked being burned with a haunting presence.

"So, will they all come master, or shall I plead our case to them with force?" His voice was hollow, and seemed to linger around the soul mage as in echoed in the cavern. "Shall I stay here with you since there shall be a coming danger?" He said as he seemed to glide out from the shadows directly behind Omadon though his voice seemed to come directly from infront of his master.

Zakath's very presence brought forth a almost cold winter breeze that seemed to fill the room with thoughts of death. The cloaked dragged across the ground as Zakath walked past Omadon. "We have little time to waste master either they hurry, and come quickly to your call... I will bring them here. For now I shall treat myself to a drink." The figure walked to a wall and seemed to pass right through it as it headed in the direction where Pan was.

As soon as he left the cold chill in the cavern was gone, but the haunting voice still called out wanting freedom for its prison. "If you think these are the sayings of insane mad man, then you've nevered messed with a kender with a cold." - Me

Horus heard Omadon's call. Concentrating on the energy,he connected to the magic that Omadon was using. Creating a transportation spell, Horus attached it to the call and travelled along the line of power.

Reappearing in front of Omadon, Horus said "You called? May i ask what for?" Walking up to the black mist concealing the cave entrance, Omadon gestured for Horus to follow.

Zakath stepped out from the wall directly behind Pan as a cold breeze filled the room. The light in the room seemed to darken as shadows danced upon the walls. Zakath armored body was hidden by the long cloak he wore, but with each step toward the table of drinks and food he made no sound.

"Care for a drink Pan?" He said his voice had no emotion though it seemed to make the shadows on the wall shrink down at the sound of his voice. He poured two cups without a answer. "You may want to drink this it may ease your nerves so you can be around me. I am Lord Kal'Zakath, you may call me Zakath since I hate being formal. The glass goblet of wine seemed to be frosted from Zakath's touch as he set it down infront of Pan.

Zakath turned around setting his drink on a stool as he pulled a chair behind him to sit. "You really should have a drink..." he said his face some what shadowed by the hood of his, but as he leaned back his eyes became enclosed in darkness as a hellish blue fire lighted up in the eye sockets of Zakath. This was something Zakath did to everyone as he sent a wave of fear into the room that seemed to steal the soul from these soul mages. It was his only defense against these fools, and it worked for a very short time. Though it was enough to show who was more powerful, and higher in rank if you would call it. "If I were you I would have that drink." He said seeing that the small burst of fear was over and Pan held firm to his seat. "If you think these are the sayings of insane mad man, then you've nevered messed with a kender with a cold." - Me

A knocking came from the door. "Hurry up and let me in," came a high pitched voice from behind the oak. "I hate being out in the light," came the voice again.

The door burst open and a heap fell onto the floor, clad in black. Standing up, the robed character brushed some of the dirt off. Lowering his cowl, the goblin stared at the others. "Why of course it is no trouble." Omadon walked through the black misted wall with Horus behind him. Looking at the newly arrived goblin, he turned and sat behind his desk, motioning Horus to sit next to Pan, then the goblin.

"I'm afraid that i will have to press on, i fear we have very little time." Looking around at the oddly assorted group Omadon drew in a deep breath. "I have called you here to offer a proposal of an alliance of sorts. Malys is preparing to launch an assault. Powerful i may be, however i cannot battle her alone, her size gives her an obvious advantage. I need others to help me."

"She plans to attack the other Overlords. I believe that she is concentrating on Beryl first. None of the other Overlords can match Beryl's magic and she knows it. It is the one thing that has kept the other dragons at bay. However... Malys has incarcerated two soul mages in her realm, beneath that volcano of her i think. I did not have enough time to know for sure, as her minions were close to finding me.

With the added power of soul mages, she will be near unstoppable. Not even i will be a match for her. She will eventually rule all Anaslon. Luckily for us, she has not yet perfected the ability to absorb the mages magical essences so we may still have time."

Leaning over the desk, he opened the huge book to the first page. "This is all my research into Malys and her lair. A great deal of this information is of great importance. I intend to use this to rescue those mages before the kills them." Looking to Horus "I realise it is against our principles to work with others however these are strange times, and if Malys learns to absorb our power, she will not stop at those two mages. She will come after us all, picking us off one at a time. With the power of but a dozen soul mages, she may as well be a god."

I have seen into the depths of her soul and know what she is capable of. I do not think that we have seen the extent to which her power and evil can extend."

" I have touched the souls of her captives and known pain the likes of which has not been suffered since the Dark Queen left, and even greater than that. I could not simply abandon Anaslon to such a fate." The dark expression remaining, his eyes began to water slightly.

"Another reason, a purely selfish one at that....I have been taken captive by Malys once before. I have been subjected to the most hideous of experiments....Have you ever had your soul ripped from you, only for it to cling with all its might than you feel as though you yourself will explode.

"I have been trapped by her...Confined, One of the worst things to do to a soul mage is take away his self belief, and that she had come close to doing on more than one occasion. However i would not let a spiteful wyrm such as her drive me from power, and so in an explosive blast i escaped and severly wounded her. She has not sought me out since, but she is growing in power and has fully recovered...she wants revenge and my magic.

It may be you yourself. The only way to avoid this is by way of an ancient object, a pendant forged by Reorx himself. You must find it, you will find it. It lies very close to us now, perhaps in this very room... You must have it if you wish to succeed. And Dreidun, my little kepelangi, it is for you to have, for you to keep for all your years, for without it you must founder in a sea of boredom..."

Pan smiled at the group.

"I hope I have given you all something to think about."

He sits back down."So what do you do for a living sir?"

"Uh, I like eggs."

"Eggs eh?"

"Eggs."

"Is that your full answer?"

"Yes. Eggs!"

OOC: I said Wyrm not Worm. There is a difference. The Great Wyrms of Takhisis are the dragons. Like wise with Paladine. Basically using a 'y' were the 'o' should go refers to a dragon.'From earth to sky, from leaves to roots,
from fire to ice, and soul's own fruits.
From light to dark, from wind to water,
I claim this spirit and creator's daughter...'

((OOC: Yes you did, but Tiver didn't in his post that began with "((OOC Comp Crashed" I was correcting him, not you, we ok? hehe. Anyway, yeah umm, any explanations on what that meant Pantheus would be greatly apprecieated (though I prolly read it wrong, I just did geometry homework, and am always... *shudders* never the same afterwards...)))"You know if there was one thing I think could help this, it'd be putting a gnome in a cannon" Solaris said.
"You always want to put a gnome in a cannon" Paedon said smiling.
"Yeah, but haven't you?" Solaris added.
