OOC: I like the highlander so i wanna try this thread out, hope it works...:)
It takes place in a time before the chaos war. This shouldnt be a short thread and some people well............they have to die lol!!!! its highlander after all.......there can be only one :D
*crosses his fingers*

Somewhere on the broken plaines near pax tharkas...................

The batlle waged on for what seemed like days. Actually they had been fighting for hours on end in the drivig rain. One would gain the upperhand only to lose it by a swift countermove. Muscles bulged and sweat glistened off their already rainsoaked bodies. Mud almost knee deep hindered their movements as the battle waged on. The click of metal on metal twang in the thin night air as stroke after stroke was parleyed. They were evenly matched and well trained in the art of the sword.

One began to tire as time went on and the other could see it. He lounged in for the kill..................that was his mistake. Dymere with one swift upward stroke bore his sword deep into his assailants gut. He knew this wouldnt kill him, but it would weaken him and give him time to finish him off.
he stood before his fallen assailant who spoke with blood flecked lips. "you have fought well dymere and I am honored to die by your sword. Finish it then and continue on in the quest that was forordained to us chosen few."

Dymere raised his sword and spoke "I wish there were some other way, I to am honored to fight such a worthy opponent. Not all of us are so worthy.
As it were we both understand the rules and I know you will forgive me as I would have done if you were the victor."

With a swift stroke Dymere in motion aimed at his sword at his assailants neck and seperated his head. Swirls of energy and light began to sift out and merge with dymere as he struggled to absorb this power. Lightnig shot in all directions and he yelled aloud as the ordeal ended. He stood there with sword still in hand he shouted aloud"There can be only one!!!!!!!!"The magic of the mind is within you all. Do you have the power to harness it?

A large, purple-black raven sat on a branch in a large tree that overlooked the ensuing battle. It squaked loudly as Dymere finished off his opponent and absorbed the energy that was within his body. It squaked again in reply to his shouted victory, the rain pelting down on it's sleek feathers.
"Indeed," the raven said, speaking into Dymere's mind with a voice that was strong and sure and most definately female. "there can only be one!"
The raven swooped down and landed on a rock opposite the young warrior. As Dymere watched, the raven morphed slowly into the figure of a woman, strong and lythe in body, dressed in clothes befitting of a seasond mercenary, a decorative long sword hung at her belt. Her eyes, the same midnight purple colour as her hair which was braided behind her in a long singluar tail, studied him intently, watching the rain soak him thourghly.

((OOC: Oooo...have to make an "able to die" character. :) hehe. Someone wanna tell me what rules go with this? I never watched the movie all the way through...all I know is that they die when they're heads get cut off. hehehe.))

"And maybe he is not the one..."

The soft voice, oddly musical, came from nowhere. Dymere and the woman both spun, looking for the speaker and drawing their weapons.

"Peace...the time for fighting will come later." An awkward silent ensued until Dymere sheathed his sword and motioned for the ravenlady to do the same. She hesitated, eyes narrow, before following his silent instruction. A hollow chuckled sounded and the woman's shadow quivered. The two stared as it began to writhe and out stepped a dark man.

Tall, lean, and dressed entirely in shadowed black, the man nonetheless did not give off the impression of evil. His black hair was twinged slightly with the deepest of blue, his eyes--the object of eternal torment--looked as liquid shadows flowing down a raging river in the midst of a roaring storm...no white, no color, just a void which no light could touch, other then the occasional bolt of silver lightning...

He stepped forward, seemingly almost frail, and too thin for his own good. However, his movements weren't without a certain grace...and a strength unfathomable to those around him. At his waist hung twin scimitars, seemingly made of obsidian. The clouded blades shone in the sunlight, though they remained forever dark.

He didn't smile, though a bit of mirth entered his eerie eyes. "Greetings."

Justix sensed the others in the area. He sensed more than one and was immediatly interested. Graceful as a cat, Justix swept up a tree and looked about, immediatly spotting 3 figures in an open clearing.

Stepping out of the trees he entered the clearing.
Justix was lean, yet muscular. His warrior honed muscels twitched with each movement, a long black claok billowed out behind him showing the katana and jewel encrusted short sword at his sides. Beady black eyes and a stioc face was seen under a lowered cowl. Wearing fine leather boots and finely crafted clothes, the only other interesting thing he adorned was a long silver chain that hung from his neck, a small silver dart hanging form the end.
"Seems like something interesting is going on around here." he remarked. Squaring off Justix crossed his arms and looked around.Yous a flea.

OOC2: Name:Jenna (Jenathalasa) StarJewl

Hair: Black (Cut short, kinda like Princess Diana) (looks very much like the avatar that I am using :))

Eyes: Deep Violet

Height: 5'9"

Weight: 139 lbs

Birthdate: 90 years before the Cataclysm, died on that fateful day

In Istar itself.

BIC: Jenna ducked her opponent's blow, his heavier sword wedged into the tree behind her. She spun, her black cloak swirled around her like a pair of wings.

Jenna's deep violet eyes unfocused as her sword connected, then carried through with her weight behind the swing.

The decapitated body fell in the leaves with a dull thud. Jenna closed her eyes as the energies gathered and swirled around her. Lightning struck, igniting the trees around her. The Elf was oblivious to the burning trees as her mouth opened in a wordless scream as one of the bolts hit home.

when the cloudless storm passed, Jenna fell to her knees. Gasping, She stood. She looked around at the now blazing forest, sheathed her sword, Glanced at her would-be challanger, and ran.True magic is withing all of us...Magic of life, love, and mind. "Stand still you little weasel," the mercenary said as he made another stroke with his broadsword, "and where in name of the Abyss is your sword."
His target, a boy of about sixteen with a small frame, easily dodged the the stroke. Spinning to the side he kicks his attacker on his kneecap. The mercanary respond by swinging his sword at him. Jareth quickly ducks gets up again and punches his attacker in the face.
"Why you little...," the mercenary bellows, "take out your sword and fight lika a man."
"I'm a kid you big bully." Jareth retorts.
The mercenary strikes again, and misses again. However, this time Jareth manages to grab the sword arm. With a quick movement he jabs out his knee, breaking the arm. The mercenary takes the sword with his other arm.
"Hah," the mercenary laughs, "without a sword you can't do anything."
"Who ever said I don't have a sword." Jareth replies. Suddenly there was the sound of a sword being drawn. An just before his neck is struck the mercenary can see that the blade is attached to the bracer on Jareth's arm.
With the lifeless body falling to the ground energy bolts shoot out of, making their way to Jareth. He gasps as they strike and falls to his knees. After the sensation passes he gets up again and examins the body. Aside from a few coins there isn't much to take. He leaves the body and heads out along the trail, wondering who he'll meet next. Leaving a completely scorched clearing behind.

{ooc: as you can guess he has a magical bracer that can extend a blade. sort of like the guyver-zoönoid fuse. he relies on martial arts for the greater part. OOC: just to let people who dont know much about highlander, here is a little background:

OOC: They can sense each others presence. As far as I know they dont use magic and its illiegal to fight on holy ground.....temple, shrines, monastaries etc. This will cause a huge explosion and such. All of them are not against each other, some are actually friends and chose not to fight each other, though there is always someone else who will fight. eventually through time all but one must fall. unless they lose their heads they cannot die, they can be hurt but nothing but decapitation kills them. blah blah blah and so on...........:D

OOC: this should be a long thread so nobody has to die too early lol!

BIC: Dymere stood exhausted as the rain began to slow just a little. "Alas I dont think I had the strength for another battle at this time. My name is Dymere of house ironfeild."
He had not forgotten the "ravenwoman" who had appeared just as suddenly. He wondered how she was able to speak into his mind, he thought he'd ask later. Right now he just wanted to rest, that last battle had taken a long time and.........it was also a good friend of his.

"So, shall we find some shelter and get out of this rain? It will be the death of me" :). A slight grin on his face he winked at the two strangers and surveyed the surrounding area, pax tharkas was not the best of places to find shelter of any kind. The magic of the mind is within you all. OOC: Thanks for that sweetie, cos the only thing I knew bout higlander was that whole decapitation thingy!!! :)

BIC: The "raven woman" smiled at Dymere's humor, her severe feature softening beautifully. She pointed in a direction over to the west. I saw some shelter over in that direction, she said, languidly getting up off of the rock she sat on and slowly walking in the direction she had just pointed, her hips swaying as she did so. Suddenly a small hut materialised a few strides in front of them, apparantly it had been shrouded in fog brought on by the storm, or that is what the two men kept telling themselves.
The "Raven woman" entered the small hut as if it were familiar ground to her and walked over to the fire place, stoking up a fire while the two men made themselves comfortable. When a good strong fire was going she spun around and fixed each visitor with a midnight purple eye.
"My name is Moonshaddow," she said simply, extending her hand to Dymere.Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

She sighed inwardly as she took in this man's visage. His kind eyes, his broad smile......this was all going to her head. She needed to focus her thoughts once more. She let go of hishand, her finger tips gently brushing against his palm as she did so.
"No, you won't have heard my name before, for we have never met like this before." she said, gently relaxing in front of the fire that roared loudly behind her. "However, you do know me, though where you know me from may not appear apparant at first. And as to how I could speak into your mind the way I jut did..........." her lips stopped moving and they gently fell together in a barely there smile as she projected her voice into his mind once again, "Well, the reason I can do this is because I am a part of you................" The Shadow Warrior watched the exchange between Moonshaddow and Dymere with silent interest. His expression was impassive, almost as if he held no emotions but for those that shone in his shadowed eyes.

He took note as another warrior entered the clearing, his black cloak trailing behind in the slight breeze. Not wanting to interupt the companions, he moved towards the newcomer.

"Seems like something interesting is going on around here," the stranger remarked. A small smile ghosted across the face of the Shadow Warrior. He gave a slight bow.

"That it is. I am Inkoyca Darkshadow." The strange started to reply but Inkoyca was listening to something else. He frowned slightly and a moment later an out-of-breath elf crashed through the underbrush.

"Jenathalasa...wait." Slipping through shadows, Inkoyca moved to intercept the elf. He caught her in his frail grip and turned, moving with her momentum so as not to be knocked over. His voice was the devoid of emotion, though is eyes writhed with more fury than usual. "A challenge?" Looking to the forest, he drew his obsidian blades.

Moonshadow pulled her gaze reluctantly from that of Dymere. He was just starting to remember her, was starting to remember what she was to him in that time when both he and her were different people, known by different names. When he was reborn into the flesh and bone structure that is now Dymere, he brought with him a souvenir(sp?) from his past life, the memory of Moonshadow. She was, in effect, his guardian. She watched over him, and when he was plauged by bad dreams she would be the soft, comforting voice in his mind that would make everything alright again. She had come into being now because there a hard time for Dymere was on the horizon, she could see it as clearly as she could see the firelight glint in his eyes, and he would need her help............
She sighed softly more to herself than anyone else. She spoke into Dymere's mind before answering him verbally.
"You will rememebr, and soon, everything will become clear............"

All at once he realized that all were watching him, though they could not begin to fathom what thoughts moved beneath the surface. Except...Jenna's hand slipped into his. She knew, at least in part, she knew...

Jenna was following him. He knew it, always knew that she would...but she didn't understand, no one understood...

He stole through the abundent shadows of the tree-laden forest, going where she could not follow. Her Deep Violet eyes, those eyes that stilled his dying soul, could no longer see his incorperal being, but she kept looking, always searching...

Inkoyca settled in a tree's deep shadow and watched her. Those graceful movements, so elven and yet all her own...those glittering eyes, full of the wisdom of ages...those eyes could read him as a book, following the words of his mind as if they were close to her heart...

But they aren't, he thought bitterly. They can't be.

Something broke deep inside as she moved closer to his position. All at once, the elf saw a deep shadow wing towards her. With a cry she threw up her arms and tried to keep her balance. He slammed into her, hurling Jenna to the ground and then stepped back. Shadows formed before her, in all fury, obsidian scimitars in hand. His eyes mirrored her fear but the course was set. His expression hardened till it was unreadable even to her. Crossing his twin blades before his chest, Inkoyca gave her a small bow. "What are you doing!? she cried, backing away, her black cloak swirling like black wings around her. She brought her sword up, blocking his strikes, turning and moving with Inkoyca, not against him.

When he continued to attack her with no reply, Jenna's eyes narrowed in Anger. Her hair was becoming soaked with sweat. Inkoyca faught in silence, raining blow apon blow down on the elf. She countered, though not easily, as they were both pretty well matched. Obsidian met solid steel, setting off sparks as steel advanced. Jenna's Violet eyes now held much anger and she stepped forward, yelling at him every few seconds...

Shadowed eyes narrowed and Inkoyca stopped giving her room, twirling his twin blades in perfect balance, creating a deadly song of whispered stone. Darkness reigned, trying to overtake the Sun and bringing forth an audience of dark images. He pressed harder and though she parried each of his blows, Jenna backed farther and farther from the Light. Her anger grew with each step but she still could not stop his advance.

The elf, her eyes locked on the whirling blades, tried in vain to anticipate his movements. She risked a look at the dark man's face and gasped, stumbling.

Ink-black tears fell from those shadowed eyes...

Inkoyca saw his opening as she stumbled and brought one sword to bear. He aimed for her slender neck, swinging with great force. Jenna, her arms thrown wide, attempted to bring her blade back in to stop his swing. But there wasn't enough time...

The Sun was gone now, hidden behind dark clouds, hidden from the madness. It didn't watch, leaving only shadows to witness that deadly swing. Time slowed, each movement exaggerated. The wind gasped as Inkoyca's swing suddenly looped, the blade coming around and hitting steel from the outside...

Jenna couldn't stop her blow...

Inkoyca fell to the ground, clutching his neck, dark blood soaking dark grass...

From the looks of it he was only a sixteen year old child. But one could tell by the way moved and talked that he's been around for a while.
The strangest thing was he didn't seem to be carrying a sword. And there was nothing else on him that gave the hint of a sword. However there is a strange bracer on his right arm, but only a single bracer.

Jenna sat there on the ground beside Inkoyca, her tears had finally stopped. She looked over at Inkoyca, noticing that the wound had healed....he would be regaining conciousness soon.

"so much for peace..." she muttered...and wondered what the others thought of this. "I didn't want for it to happen!! He attacked me first....what should I have done!? let him kill me!?" she spat, angry more at herself than anyone else."On a hot summer's night, would you offer your throat to the wolf With the red roses?"

"He attacked me first....what should I have done!? let him kill me!?"

"Well, obviously not..." Inkoyca muttered, his words slurred. He felt like shit, every part of his body aching from the wound in his neck. Attempting to sit up, Inkoyca glanced around for his scimitars. They lay where he had dropped them, dull and lifeless in the direct sun. Inkoyca blinked and looked back at Jenna. Fresh tears were flowing silently down her beautiful face.

Inkoyca sighed softly and reached up to brush those tears away.Good becomes ignorant.

Jenna's breath hitched in her throat as Inkoyca gently brushed away her tears. There where times she still felt like the lost and scared child that she had been when he found her on a beach off of the blood sea. That fateful day in Istar when the Gods lay ruin to the world...Destroyed Istar and sank it in a claimed sea of Blood.

She remembered that day all too well....She had awakened on the beach of that dark red sea...her terror was so immense she was shaking and sobbing, her voice nearing hyserical shreiks. she remembered when she had first seen Inkoyca...He had come upon her with his scimitars drawn, she had felt an odd presence when he came upon her.

She had cried then, just as she was now....He had done the same motion...gently brushing her tears away...soothing her fear...telling her what had happened...what she was....teaching her how to use a sword...teaching her how to survive.

Jenna closed her eyes...no matter what he did....She couldn't stay angry at him for long....he had saved her those centuries ago....If any other would've come upon her....they would've taken her fledgling power as an easy kill.

"you're a fool Inkoyca...you know that??" she whispered softly...a faint smile tugging at her lips."On a hot summer's night, would you offer your throat to the wolf With the red roses?"

Moonshadow watched the histrionics unfold before her eyes and sighed deeply. She could understand the feelings of these others, but at the same time, she was getting bored of them. She stood up and streched, her muscular lithe body moving like snaked under her figure hugging clothes. She fixed her midnight purple eyes on the group and swished her midnight purple braid as she shook her head. "I think some of us are all far too involved with certain peoples lives to join forces for anything. You all know as well as I do that there can only be one who will win The Prize, which means that the rest of you will surely die." she paused at this, a lump fighting it's way down her throat. "The only reason I am here is because there is one person The Prize should not be won by, because if He wins it, then the mortal world will be embroiled in hate and fury. I think you all know who I am speaking of.........." she trailed off, walking over towards Dymere and placing a hand on his shoulder. "I am here because I will act as Dymere's trainer. He needs to be ready for that day, as do the rest of you. Should any of you wish to stay here to train along with the two of us, you are welcome............." she let her words hang in the air as she looked into the eyes of the others present, her hand resting lightly on her sword at her left hip.Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

I wasnt even going along those lines of someone who SHOULD NOT win, but this will be a MUCH better storyline because of this. So who wants to be the guy who SHOULDNT win? that person will definatly be in the last battle :D

Dymere tried to anticipate the reaction of the others. he knew none where foolish to openly challenge another, with so many present that would be suicide. He also knew that no matter how things were now in the end it always came back as........only one would be alive when it was all over, no matter if it was today or 1000 years from now, they'd track each other one by one til there was a victor. The return of moonshadow gave him in inkling as to the fact that maybe that end was in site.

*Had she really returned? what does she mean by being a part of me? I must know!!!!*

The thought of a climax to the seemingly endless struggle for survival gave him a new since of urgency. He wouldnt let personal feelings come into play, as was evident in his battle with his longtime friend. This all had to come to an end.The magic of the mind is within you all. Inkoyca stared over Jenna's shoulder at Moonshadow. Her purple eyes flicked from sympathetic to cold and unfeeling. Inkoyca shook his head. Though he never showed much feeling, he did feel sorry for those such as she...

He listened intently to her speech and then decided that he didn't like her. She was set in her ways, set in the ways that others had left for her to believe...

The shadow warrior opened his mouth to speak but Jenna squeezed his hand and shook her head. Lips tight, Inkoyca held his arguement. Jenna, who had thought he was about to say that they didn't need training, frowned at his dark, thoughtful expression. What's going on? she mouthed.

Inkoyca looked at her hard, and then looked away. Jenna left his side, frustrated.

"We'll stay here and train with you," Inkoyca said suddenly. Jenna looked at him, surprised and then purposely turned away.

Inkoyca smiled grimly as his own scimitar came spiraling towards his chest, followed closely by his oppontent. Leaping into action, he waved one Dark hand and the obsidian scimitar burst into smoke and melted into shadow. With the other hand, Inkoyca knocked Crimson's blade to the side and put his shoulder forward.

Unable to stop his momentum, Crimson turned to the side at the last second and tried to slip past the Dark man. Inkoyca also lept to the side, but didn't manage to get all the way into the other man's path. They each attempted to push off of the other, and each tripped over the Shadow Warrior's long cape. There was a mad scramble as each tried to stand and get away while looking to block and attack. Swords flew through the air, neither with solid direction. Finally, after much confusion, the two combatant seperated.

Inkoyca stepped back and waved his hand once again. His missing scimitar reformed and he picked it off the ground, finally noting the large gash that seared his left leg. Standing he surveyed his opponent till the other looked up and their eyes met. Inkoyca pointed to his injury with one scimitar and smiled grimly.

"A testiment to your skill," he said grandly. Crimson stood slowly, pulling one hand away for a oddly similar gash. Inkoyca's smile grew. "And I see you bare the mark of mine." Then, with a strange yell, the Shadow Warrior leap forward, favoring a wounded leg that did not slow the rapid whirling of the cloudy black scimitars in his hands.

Not wasting any time on the wound, he noted the large man coming for him. Extending the blade to full length (3 feet) he awaits the coming shadow warrior.

With a clash the first scimitar strikes the blade, following that is a fast and furious battle of strikes and parries. The magical properties of the blade allowed Jareth to fend of every strike of the scimitars. The boy kept backing up as Inkoyca pressed on.

Sweat started to glisten on his forehead. It had been a while since he had an opponent like this. He had to act before he lost his head. As he backed up he noted a tree behind him. With a quick move he kicked Inkoyca in the shin, the shadow warrior only faltered for less then a second and pressed on. But that one moment was enough for Jareth to make his move. With a jump and a quick movement of feet Jareth managed to get up a branch of the tree. With another jump and a somersault he jumps over the warrior. Landing, and kneeling down to cushion the fall, he slowly stands up.

"You're a good fighter, better than most I have encountered." He said to Inkoyca who had allready spun around scimitars ready.

A presence made itself known, psychically anyway.

A shadow was above the two highlanders battleing, Jareth, with his invsable blade, and Inkoyca with two obsidian scimitars.

Mostly here to watch, Denæther being a demon was challenged a few years ago by another Denu clansmen waiting for the Æther position in his clan. Denæether lost the fight and was killed, but came back the next day with a headache. Denæther looks to see if anyone can see him, no though. He's well trained in cloaking and invisibility.

*I wonder what it is their doing? Sparring perhaps? To think, immortals trying to practice their skills. Cindertanin would shun this, Equetanin might laugh a bit. To think, they're still out there somewhere. I'll find them sometime.* Denæther thought.

Suddenly, inexplicably, she had the overwhelming feeling that they were being watched. She stood up and turned her head to look behing her, her midnight purple braid swishing over her left shoulder as she did. She narrowed her eyes to try and focus in on who or what was watching them. She noticed a large shadow seeming to cover the two sparing immortals, yet there was no over hanging branch or such to cast the shadow.
"I know your there, you better show yourself now, or I shant be responsible for my actions! she yelled at the shadow.Ray: It looks like a giant Jello mould!!

So you must understand this is not a problem, me being here. I am merely doing what you are, watching my compretition." Denæther spoke telepathically. ((OOC: No, I'm not being lazy. I figured short was appropriate. Doesn't seem like he cares about anything, does it? :P))"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and
I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

If anything the reply made Jareth a bit more brooding too. "Yes, perhaps. But I don't think it is our destiny." This had the sound of experience and age to it. "We shall see." Then he fell silent. Knowing the warrior wouldn't speak much. Instead he turned his attention to Demere (or somthing like that). Just studying him.Why is it we always forget to keep the good things close to our heart, but let the bad things cloud our mind.
