The Journey of a Lifetime

The Year is 329 ABY, the galaxy is at peace, war has been brought to an end, Trade flourishes, it is said that the Sith have been destroyed, the Jedi protect the galaxy with a gentle but firm hand. However, one major thing has been plauging the Chancallor and common people for that matter. What is in the Unknown regions?

For years the Unknown regions has sat out there, ominously. The uncharted land presenting an interesting situation. The adventurers of the galaxy look at it with wonder, wanting to know what is out there, along with fear, fearing what is out there. We know of the Chiss and Kiliks, but generally, we don't know. The territory has never been charted, and probably never will.

Until now....

The Supreme Chancallor has organized funding and an idea, originally derived from Jorus C'Baoth's Outbound Flight mission that failed misserably. The large ship/fleet is of the same design, in every aspect. It has been named Journey, for it will be the Journey of wonders, a Journey that men would dream of. It is, The Journey of a Lifetime.

There is your general plot and story, players would be people on this ship going out to explore the Unknown regions, charting what they find. Then afterward, we will venture out of the Unknown regions and into a search for other life. I will allow two people to play jedi, more specificly, a Master and Apprentice. There can be another Jedi, ranked at Knight, but the Master and Apprentice must be each others master and apprentice. The rest of people can be civillian, soldier, or government official.

Journey is of the same design as Outbound Flight was, six frigates and one large storeroom with a large supply of supplys. This is what a brief description of each.

Frigate one - A command Frigate, here is where all the major navigational decisions take place, it has a medium amount of Military and Civilian personel.

Frigate two - A Military Frigate, is heavily armed and carries a large amount of Military personel, no civilians.

Frigate three - Another medium frigate, medium amount of Military and Civilian Personel.

Frigate four - A Civilian frigate, dedicated to civilians and where they live. Little weaponry.

Frigate five - Another medium frigate

Frigate six - Like number one, this is here in case the first one is damaged.

The core is a storage area, large amounts of weaponry and essentials, no one lives here.

Now, here is the character sheet.

Name: Xax Sirxez (zacs-SEER-zecks)

Gender and Species: Male Shistavanen

Age: 48

Frigate of Residance: Frigate 1

Weapons or Items: Single Bladed lightsaber, Turquoise

Personality: A calm person who reasons things out. It took years of training to break his species's natural insticts of hunting but he finally succedded. Has a strong sense of duty. Is a very strong person, both in physical combat and force powers. Teaches padawans through vigorous physical and mental training

Appearance: Short and stocky, he stands only at about 5'8 but is very muscular. His head looks like a wolf, with gray fur all over his body. He has short pointed ears, a long developed snout, and yellowed teeth. He has one emerald green eye, and one that is deep blue. He wears a tattered light brown tunic and no other form of clothing. His claws are black and slightly sharpened.

Bio: Xax grew up on Uvena Prime, in the sheltered life of his race's natural wanting for seclusion. So, in early ages, he learned many hunting skills and fighting skills that would stay with him for his whole life. People usually avoid Uvena Prime because of it's inhabitants along with myths that have arisen. However, one such ship, a slaver ship, went there and captured many Shistavanen including Xax. The slaver ship had subdued all of the "cargo" with knockout gas and while they were asleep, the Republic caught on to the trail and liberated everyone on board.

Xax awoke in a cell on Coruscant at the age of 16, where he was calmed and taught Basic. The republic was wary of letting him out on the streets because of his race, so they seeked help from the jedi. One such jedi, Master Yith, an old male human, came to visit Xax. Instantly, he was recognized for his force ability and Yith demanded that he wanted Xax as his apprentice.

Through his apprenticeship, Xax was avoided out of fright, especially after one such fight with another student after Xax almost killed him. Pushed by Yith, but really by himself, Xax then began working on getting past his primal instincts. After many painful years, Xax finally gained control over himself and was elevated to the rank of Knight. After many successful missions, Xax was elevated to the rank of master, becoming known for his ability in combat and the force. Eventually, Xax began to look for an apprentice. When Xax found Zan, he knew that the young boy was destined for greatness and chose him as a padawan. He trains Zan with a series of harsh physical training exersizes along with force exersizes.

Reson for Joining Journey: He was assigned by the council to be the head Jedi on the expedition.

Personality: Karva is generally an easy going person unless you mess with his friends. Then your in for some pain.

This armor was used by his great great grandfather in the Clone Wars and has been passed down through his family to the first male child ever since. It has been repaired and modified multiple times and though it looks battered it is servicable.

Bio: Karva grew up on Coruscant with his poor family. They always seemed to have bad luck no matter what they did. Eventually Karva got tired of this lifestyle so he stowed away on a ship and went out to seek his destiny. He worked various jobs and eventually bought his own ship. He worked as a smuggler and a trader for awhile but eventually became a bounty hunter. He worked in this profession for several years then he fell in love with a woman he was hired to kill. They faked her death and the two of them went into hiding. Unfortunatelly after several years of peace someone finally found them and killed the love of Karva's life. Karva escaped but saw no reason to go on living in this galaxy. Then he heard about Journey. He signed up immediately.

Reson for Joining Journey: He has no reason to stay in the known galaxy anymore. He thinks that maybe he'll find something out in the Unknown Regions to go on living for and if he doesn't then the mission will probably fail and he will die and that's fine by him too.

Name: Zan Zurin

Gender and Species: Male human

Age: 21

Frigate of Residance: Frigate 1

Weapons or Items: Single-bladed lightsaber, emerald

Personality: Usually calm and meditative, Zan still occasionally acts on impulse. He developed a reputation as a prankster as a youngling. He has a quick sense of humor to go along with his moderate Force and strong fighting abilities.

A minor member of the House Vandron, he was given to the Jedi shortly thereafter, more as a token of political/cultural cooperation than anything else. He returned to his homeplanet for a visit when he was young, only to be shocked and dismayed by the existance of slavery. He turned his back on his personal heritage and is completely devoted to the Jedi, wanting little to nothing to do with his family.

It was shortly after he returned from his homeplanet that Zan was selected as Xax's Padawan. He took to Xax's harsh training program eagerly, knowing that if he was to become someone worthwhile without his family, he'd have to rely on himself.

Reason for joining Journey: He was assigned to accompany his Master on the mission by the Jedi Council.

Alright, I will make the first post soon. This should be intersting stoic, the master is 5'8 and the padawan is 6'1. That should be good for a few comic relief moments, lol.

StoicFervor

Yeah, the Master's 5'8 and looks like a walking dog. How many jokes about him biting the Padawan's ankles can I get away with before it gets old?

Name: Kyp Torvyn

Interesting character, so I assume that you are taking the role as another Padawan? Or are you already a knight? Either, you can jump in, just, wait for my approval before you jump in next time, lol.

Upon reviewing your post, Animus, I realize that I do have a problem with something.

Kyp stood behind the commander of the Solo's Cun. Ever since the vessels left port a few months prior he had found himself here soaking in all the knowledge he could. Being frigate number two of the fleet, the vessel would scout far ahead of the pack. With the bulk of the military presence it was decided it alone could withstand an attack much longer than any of the other vessels, even the commandship.

First of all, let me say that you added a lot of information that wasn't originally there, which is a major bunny. Second, did you name the frigate? Or is that some other ship or something like that.

You also say that the second frigate will scout far ahead, which is completely wrong from many standpoints. First of all, the design doesn't allow for the frigates to detach from each other. Second, because it has the most military strength, it wouldn't stray away from the pack. Because, if the other ships were attacked while it was away that would present a major issue, the republic generals would not be dumb enough to miss that.

I think that that is all for now, try not to bunny please.

AnimusAniKorSaxcian
11/05/2007 4:30 PM

bunny? New Word in free form for me... Been away for a long time I guess. I remember when adding info was important.

And No one named the Frigate SO I figured I would give it some life. And to it straying ahead you said in your info that the first frigate had an adequate Military amount. That to me means it more than smart to scout ahead so as to avoid dangerous confrontations. This isn't a huge distance only about a mile or so if we would put this on a 3D plane. Another thing is you didn't provide a design type. If this is a Nebulon-B Frigate it would be more than adequate to travel alone. And the minor distance traveled ahead would infact provide a better defense. The ship could send wings in seconds and trap any ambush in between the two frigates and the lone frigate it is a very useful tactic.

ZombieKiller13
11/05/2007 4:44 PM

Animus the frigates are attached together. Here is a picture of Outbound Flight which the design is based off of.
[img:http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e23/brianakarobin/StarWars/SWBooks/Old%20Republic/OutboundFlight.jpg]
The central storage hub is surrounded by the 6 frigates which are attached and can only be detached in an emergency. I hope that clears it up for you.

Welcome aboard Animus. Hope you enjoy it here.

And I hate to butt in, but...

Another thing is you didn't provide a design type.

Actually, he mentioned it in the first OOC post:

The Supreme Chancallor has organized funding and an idea, originally derived from Jorus C'Baoth's Outbound Flight mission that failed misserably. The large ship/fleet is of the same design, in every aspect.

Outbound Flight was essentially an extremely large exploration ship, made of a central storage container ringed by six frigates. The six frigates were each attached to the storage core and the next two ships in the outer ring by pylons and wide hallways/elevator shafts. It was impossible for one frigate to break away from the Flight without damage.

This link should help fill you in on some other details...

[url:http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Outbound_Flight_%28vessel%29]OutboundFlightVessel

The idea of naming the individual frigates was good though. It probably would help to boost crew morale during the trip.

I remember when adding info was important

Don't be sarcastic, it just makes people dislike you.
Adding info is great, but you should at least ask before you do so, its common courtesy. If you want to add a name, then ask first, don't just add it.

And as for the whole scouting ahead thing, the frigate cannot scout because it is attached to the entire convoy. Scouts would be short range corvettes and fighters.

AnimusAniKorSaxcian
11/05/2007 6:11 PM

I really wasn't being sarcastic, my friend. I just remember a much looser time. I must have skimmed over teh direct connection to the Outbound Flight model. Let me apologize, I can edit it easily by saying I was scouting ahead along with my wing squadron.

So then can the name hold? And the fact I estimated our departure to be a few a few months prior, since it would take some time to arrive in the outer rim of the Galaxy?

Darthwedge
11/06/2007 4:36 PM

So then can the name hold?

Sure, you and the name can stay.

Update: Scouting parties are being arranged via sign up, volunteer. Although, I expect all of you to join the scouting party though.

Basically, a few light tanks and some military personnel.

May I continue to lead a fighter wing to survey and then land. I will secure a safe landing zone???

Darthwedge
11/07/2007 4:09 PM

No, we are all going together, it will be easier.

AnimusAniKorSaxcian
11/07/2007 6:23 PM

???I am a fighter Scout, I am just flying in to set up a landing zone. Not going anywhere or doing any of the storyline. I am barely Jedi anyway. My duties would come to securing the safety of the Jedi first. Why is it harder for me to just land???

Darthwedge
11/07/2007 6:51 PM

Because we all have to go together, the droids we sent already secured a landing zone. It is a lot easier if we all go together that way we can avoid awkward situations. Such as: You getting there first but being unable to describe the world around you.

We all go together.

AnimusAniKorSaxcian
11/08/2007 5:45 PM

Wait a second. You already established it was lush and green. That would mean forested areas, few water sources and few plains. Thus why I chose a small peninsula that was open and was surrounded by a small ocean Perfect Landing zone. The rest of the world is still left free and open to exploration and development??? Anyway if we all land at once we may have conflicting views of the planet. With one going ahead a basic landing zone appearance can be set up so as no one argues or sets up inconsistent appearances.

Conflicting views are good, they provide character depth.

Yeah, but the droids already gave us the perfect landing zone.... Why are you still arguing? I told you what I want, and thats what has to happen. I try to be open to suggestions, and I considered your suggestion, and its not what I wanted. This is the way we have to do it, all together. Take it or leave it.

AnimusAniKorSaxcian
11/11/2007 8:32 AM

Well than if that is the case I am going to have to leave it. I RPed long before this was decided that I was going planet side. Now I am being argued with to come back up. Not logical at all. I understood my wrongful assumption of the craft design, but this, this is just ridiculous. I am sorry but you may delete my posts, I am out. Thank you for allowing me to try and RP with this but maybe this was just what I needed to show me that my RPing career is truly over.

Darthwedge
11/11/2007 8:38 AM

Maybe you should read [url:http://www.rpgconsortium.com/rpgforums/discussions.cfm?forumid=22&topicid=287325&ooc=1&bookmark=1]this.
Then read the part about DM is god...

AnimusAniKorSaxcian
11/11/2007 8:06 PM

And thus another reason why I am gonna have to say I must leave. The Role of DM was much more malleable in my previous experiences with RPing, even here in the Consortium. Part of being a DM or GM as I have called them since their is no Dungeon, is also listening to your ally characters. While the story is initially your idea the tale really comes down to the participants. Stepping out of your way to stop a post, that has already been posted and has no danger of messing with any plot line in my eyes shows power mongering and a want to limit the creative minds of the RP group. Now let us say that I had not already posted I was heading planet side, you as GM would win this argument hands down. However seeing your post did not come till after I posted it just doesn't make sense. I mean after flying my survey of the area why would I come back to the ship, waist of time, man power, and frankly renders the entire surveying pointless.

I really am done with arguing. I have nothing against you and I don't want bad blood to exist. I just want to heed to the DM and "take" it or "leave" it. In this case I need to leave it. I don't feel right about where the RP is going. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of starting this RP. Have me killed off you must so as not to just make me disappear.

I know that, I considered your suggestion, and figured it would be best for all of us together.

Sorry you must go, hope the future between us is better.
