This is a Star Wars post based in the KOTOR era. Don't bother with asking to join or posting a bio, just post. If someone wants to be Lara they can. Please only be jedi's if you are experienced rp-er and you know you can play one correctly. Thanks and enjoy.

Why no bios?

And please, for the sake of my now-bleeding eyeballs, put paragraphs in long posts! ;)

LOL i was kidding about the continuing, i'm gonna re-do.

As for the paragraph thing, it was an old post that i posted on my forum long time ago. I just forgot to edit

PS: The reason i dont like bios is because it can interrupt and delay the roleplay AND because i like to find out about the character as we go along.

This of course happens only in cases where the characters don't know each other at the beginning of the rp. As you can tell from the mystery men silly superheroes roleplay (in planning), the characters in that rp thread are best friends at the start, so it is only natural for each person to know about the others at the start so it requires a bio.

In this rp, we will not probably have met before...i'm reseting the rp, i'll edit and separate this time and save your eyes and i'll even put in some character info... oh geez... i never made info about this character... i'll just wing it.

Hope this answers your question (and sorry, i know i'm a pain, but i'm getting used to this forum's rp style)

:)

That's an interesting rationale for no bios.
Could make things more interesting although I like knowing about the other characters, sometimes you can work little connections and threads into the story.

My fear about it though would be that you don't catch over-powering until it's already been posted in the RP thread.

Oh also, don't worry about being a pain- there's plenty of painier ppl around ;)

I'm just tryin to get used to this new style. Mostly I like to rp as much as I can, but I haven't in awhile because I don't have the patience for waiting, tweaking, and editing posts. Between sleep, work, W.O.W., and 7 other people in my house, I don't get much time on this computer, even though it is mine.

Back on my old forums (since, closed) it was a question of posting as much as you can, thats what made us better roleplayers, numbers of posts, as opposed to this technique of accuracy and perfection (one of my mottos is practice makes perfect, but no-body's perfect, so why practice?)

In these forums, roleplaying is a question of catching fish with a spear-gun technique, as is the style you guys use, that i'm trying to adjust to, where you plan for days and sometimes it never even gets off. As opposed to the way I learned...like net fishing, you haul in tons, but sometimes nets break and too many types of fish you don't want get caught in the net.

We would post, hoping someone would like it, and if not it would quickly shuffle past the likeable topics, getting deleted eventually. Then, we try again (It also brought the forum post count up and brought more members). Without planning, we had random fun, bitso f humor, but lots of plot twists because we didn't know where we were going with it. It was great and i'd like to bring a little of that here...

Quantity over quality?

How on Earth could that make you better roleplayers?

Numbers of posts?

So if I post single word posts, 50 at a time, I'll be a superb RPer?

I understand it's the style you came from but I fail to see the logic of it.

I, for one, hate the single-digit-number-of-line-posts - they're not interesting. Story, detail- that's what RPing is supposed to be about.

I don't know where you get the idea that we sit around planning individual posts for days- topics go in the interest forums for a few days to generate interest, to make sure there's actually a story to work with.

like net fishing, you haul in tons, but sometimes nets break and too many types of fish you don't want get caught in the net.

Or you catch crap like dumped refrigerators and shopping trollies.

It was great and i'd like to bring a little of that here...

No thank you.

Besides the fact that it would make me weep impotent tears it wouldn't work- number of active members and time online wouldn't really let it work efficiently.

From what I've seen of your RP posts you seem like a decent writer so I can't understand why that style of few-line-posts would appeal to you, and I hope you'll give the different style more common here a try.

I'm not here to interrupt or prove people wrong. This forum is way too formal for me, sorry I can't rp here anymore (though i haven't bloody rp-ed because ive been to busy blood yexplaining myself, geez if you dont agree or like, dont post). Bye

-sniffle- It's always sad to see a noobie go, well... most of the time. But not when their logic is as skewed as his.

adamsonite

I'M NOT A BLOODY NEWBIE!! READ NOT JUDGE MY POSTS!!

xXRathXx
06/02/2007 10:19 PM

Well that's your approach eh?

We're all post judgers here noobers, we're also delightfully mad!

I'M NOT A BLOODY NEWBIE!!

Last time I checked newbs wrote in all caps to signal that they were mad.

READ NOT JUDGE MY POSTS!!

I believe you should have a comma inbetween READ and NOT. The sentence is completely wrong anyways but grammar is always the most important aspect.

Judging is part of the learning process, and why would we read some barely legible piece of garbage only to draw a blank? If your sentence is complete babble then expect criticism, it makes everything easier for everyone if you use proper spelling and grammar.

By the way, don't say you're leaving and then come back hours later just to bitch at the people who don't care that you're gone. Leave and never noob this place up ever again. We've got enough morons running wild, we don't need an extra noob with a big mouth.

You've just been told off by, most likely, the most intelligent thirteen year old on the net. Consider yourself honored, I'm not normally this coldhearted. I've amazed even myself.

Sorry bout my posts, i'm also sorry you misunderstood me...i was very angry when i replied, i will delete them when i'm not feeling really lazy.

I'm the kind of person that hates having people think bad about me. I dont get angry from insults, juts because i dont like to think i'm a bad person, i accept other people's opinions, and you guys are right.

I never was a hardcore roleplayer, but i got good at it, and i havent really done it in a while. I'm sorry to the other people and im sorry we got on a wrong foot.....although (quite honestly, and i hope im not sounding liek a whiney baby) the newb thing did bother me a little.

I can understand the rash (i forgot how to spell that word) thinking because of my flames (angry posts) and bc of the number of them...God i feel awful...I was 67 under in my till because of voids i didnt know about at work (KFC, im also a cook there), so i was pretty mad...i also may lose my job cause of it, though it wasnt entirely my fault.

To make a long and angry message short, I was simply not used to planning in the sense that you guys do. I know it is better to plan roleplays, but the old forum did not have a planning section and people got used to the "post a rp and hope someone likes it and replies" technique.

We posted bios before our first messages to keep from interrupting the flow and if a message wasnt replied to it was accepted that it was a bad rp and it was deleted.

I know you guys rp proper, but ive just had a bad week, and i'd really like to be forgiven and for this post to continue (aww forget it, its not a very good roleplay topic anyway) You guys can reply to the rp if you want though, and send any replies to this post to

chubbyandchunky@yahoo.ca

PS: I'd also like not to be called a newb, it may be true in some ways, or all, but I really don't like it, thanks, and sorry again

lol i just read the "logic is skewed as his" message ROFL

hope you read my last post before this one it will explain everything

my logic is skewed, im not good at explaining things, even in real life. my thoughts sound right in my head, but when i put them on paper (or on a screen for that matter) they get lost in translation.

I just recently read xXRathXx's latest post...

idk what to say. This happened so fast. I explained myself to Nanuk and she and everyone else seemed angry at me for no reason. I wasnt trying to prove a point, i was angry and you will find that i mostly said that my rping ways were wrong and that i was tryin to adjust.

All of my posts except for the latest capitalized one have been in a calm context. It saddens me to think that someone would truly hurt another person in this manner, and I say all of this is a content tone (happy tone). I didn't mean to make anyone feel angry...i'm just shocked at the reactions of other people...

My grade 11 english teacher (i'm 16, not much older than you) told me, as an answer to one of my questions regarding an essay topic (the only one i aced that year, shucks...sorry to sound...hmm whats the word...like a bragger...) that one releases anger on strangers more than individuals they know because the feeling of isolation is present (my topic was isolation, Macbeth was the subject...great essay, i'll post if i can find it).

Maybe you were venting your frustrations on me, but please don't. I'm trying not to sound whiny when i say that it saddened me much and I wish that we could just get along...but if people do not wish me to post here any more, then please say so...i just can't take this anymore...

i have seen too much anger result in destroyed lives in my life...my brother just divorced, he has a kid and is a single parent, his wife cheated him, same thing happened to my other brother. i greatly encourage everyone to calm down before writing, it can produce messy, often regretful posts, i do regret very much, my posts were wrong and hateful...sorry

Petal- we none of us said your way was wrong, just that ours was better (lol), and it was a result of you, new to the site, basically saying that you didn't like how we RPed, thought it was stuffy, and overly serious, and that we were all mental for bothering to play like that.

I'm paraphrasing, sure, but read back over your posts and you'll see why we reacted the way we did- we weren't being angry for no reason. Considering the effort that people put in here- and not everyone, sure, but a lot of people work quite hard to maintain the quality of their playing- it seemed quite insulting the way you addressed the differences: it did, read it (and the fact that several of us reacted the way we did lets you know it wasn't just me being overly sensitive- which I never am, by the way...).

Especially saying the way you did it was fun (implying that the way we do isn't), and that you'd like to bring some of it here (reiterating that you thought the way we played woz teh sux).

Everyone has their bad days, and you've been gracious in your response to our responses, so as I said in the other thread lets move on and get to having fun.

Naw what I was saying was that I was wrong....thats why i was so confused lol....

you're right, lets move on....well this thread's rp sucks, so....hmmm i wish i could delete it, is there a way to do that?

nanuk
06/03/2007 8:20 AM

Nope.

Only a mod can do that and you and any posters would have your points penalised, so just let it die.
