I figured it was time I got back into the swing of good ol' post-apocalyptic storytelling. I've worked out a timeline for those of you who wish to join. I advise you to consult wikipedia if you have any confusion about names or locations.

2012 - World War 3 begins. The assassination of Abdulaziz bin Fahd, favorite son of the late King Fahd, provokes all-out civil war in Saudi Arabia. America, already at war with Iran, refuses to offer military support.

After years of failed negotiations for nuclear disarmament, Chinese forces launch a sneak attack at the 38th parallel. The DPRK retaliates by firing a tactical nuclear missile at Nanjing. A brief nuclear exchange ends in two hours, leaving millions dead. The Russian Federation and the United States respond by putting their nuclear arsenals on full standby.

Economic depression and cycles of violent weather leave large sections of the United States in chaos. Coastal cities begin to see the first serious effects of global warming when crushing hurricanes and tidal waves annihilate shoreline districts. Coastal inhabitants migrate in droves towards the Midwest, where a three-year drought has created a dustbowl worse than the 1930s.

2013 - Fallout from the Chinese-Korean nuclear exchange causes a global climate shift. A five-year winter begins in temperate zones, while desert climates reach uninhabitable boiling points.

Famine and disease in America create a massive drop in population. Crime runs rampant in major cities and the outlying highways become a breeding ground for gang violence. The Federal Highway Commission implements the Watson Act, which states that all motorists without proper authorization will be shot on sight.

2014 - The war in the Middle East becomes terminal. Iran completes its nuclear weapons program and launches attacks on the UAE and Turkey. A full exchange across the Middle East ensues, extinguishing nearly all life in the Persian Gulf. The world's largest source of oil is officially gone.

2015 - More violence ensues in America. The price of oil exceeds that of gold bullion. Devastating nuclear winter continues in its second year. The Republics of Chile and Argentina become the producers of nearly 80% of America's food supply, making them economic superpowers in little over a year.

2016 - Chicago becomes the most heavily populated city in America. Its outlying suburbs exceed the population densities of both Tokyo and Mexico City.

2017 - Northern Mexico, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and southern California are labeled officially uninhabitable. Most coastal states are 40% or more underwater. Alaska and most of Canada are considered frozen wastelands.

2018 - The Zion Incident. An alleged terrorist attack on the Chicago area power grid causes four nuclear reactors to go critical. Most of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana are blasted with radiation. 23 million people die from radiation poisoning in the next three months.

2019 - The United States is considered a defunct government by the United Nations. The population of the former United States is estimated at a mere 20 million. Although some foreign aid workers and philanthropic groups provide occasional relief efforts, the world leaves America to fend for itself.

2020 - Present day.

Any character types are welcome, but bear in mind that this is a low fantasy, modern-level setting.

All i have to say is...Holy shit! this is exactly like wahts probally going to happen ina few years and im totally in on this rp. if you could make a charater sheet for us that would be great.

02/13/2007 7:44 PM

I usually like to leave the character development up to the story, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have character bios for reference.

Eye color:
Hair color:
General appearance:

Name: Jack Dervish
Age: 35
Ethnicity: White
Nationality: South African
Height: 5'11''
Weight: 170lbs
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Brown
Build: Athletic
General appearance: At first glance, one might regard Jack's appearance as akin to a hippie or a white Rastafarian. His face is always sporting a crop of stubble, and his hair is dreadlocked at shoulder-length. He frequently dresses in hooded sweatshirts, cargo pants, and combat boots -- all of which are black or other dark colors. He is almost always seen wearing a solid black baseball cap and a snap-collar motorcycle jacket with faded stripes on the sleeves. Under most circumstances he wears an old pair of fingerless biker gloves to maintain manual dexterity while keeping warm in the harsh wasteland environment.

Background: In Johannesburg, before the war, Jack made a living as a professional scoundrel. Picking pockets, running credit card scams, conning tourists out of money, and selling contraband were all part of Jack's daily routine. Even after Rudolph Giuliani vowed to clean up crime in Johannesburg, Jack was perpetuating the criminal life in South Africa and making a fortune in the process. Everything was going well for Jack: making loads of cash off the misfortune of others, womanizing to the point of having a woman a week, and spending his free time in a drug-induced haze. It wasn't until 2010 that a deal went sour and sent him into hiding, to the United States. At the time, America was the land of opportunity -- a place to start fresh. He chose to start on a different path in America, one that involved less personal risk than a life of crime. He went to medical school for a brief period of time, and even scored perfectly on his MCAT exam. But old habits die hard, and money shortages brought him right back where he started: committing crimes to stay afloat. He was becoming involved in the smuggling game when the war began, and over the next few years he was responsible for several mass drug runs into the United States.

He eventually acquired enough money to finish medical school at the University of Chicago. Unfortunately, by the time he had finished, society was already on the verge of collapsing.

He worked at a hospital in Chicago for the next year, and dealt with the steadily declining conditions of the world around him. Winter was endless, famine was widespread, and several violent epidemics had made life bleak at best. Fortunately for Jack, much of the chaos that surrounded him was similar to his life in South Africa, and he didn't suffer the problems of the world as much as his colleagues.

In 2018 he was at a medical conference in Topeka, Kansas. It was there that the Zion Incident occurred, and the United States let out its final breath. Millions were killed in the blasts, and millions would die later from radiation poisoning. Life, as he knew it, was over.

Since then, Jack has taken to the road, trying to find some semblance of purpose in the wasteland. He has been known to help those in need when he finds them, aiding the Roadites and myriad wandering souls who strive to find a better life away from the former United States.

Wow... I'm finding myself staggered- and not a little intimidated.
Let me think for a while about a character, but first a question- is there anywhere left that is inhabitable? ;)

02/14/2007 9:43 AM

Oh, plenty of places. The United States in this timeline is essentially like present-day Somalia or Iraq, mixed with really, REALLY horrible weather and a few areas that are completely blanketed in radiation. Coastlines have moved several miles inland on all sides, and desert environments are too hot for anything to live past a few hours of exposure. The lower Midwest is the most "temperate" region, and the weather is a bit like late autumn in present-day Chicago (cold, bleak, and windy). The states surrounding Lake Michigan are radioactive, so anyone caught up there will die from several types of cancer after a few months.

Overall, though, there's still a "government" (bureaucrats who don't want to give up their power, basically) and there are still about 20 million people living throughout the United States.

Those who want to leave are called Roadites, since they flock together in ramshackle vehicle caravans and hit the highways in search of boats out of America. The best place to go in the world is South America, with Chile and Argentina being the most affluent countries. About 20'000 pesos (4'000'000 USD) will buy you citizenship, otherwise they'll probably deport you or stick you in some kind of labor camp. Still, it's better than the situation in North America, and with the European Union on its own way to virtual collapse, South America doesn't seem so bad.

02/14/2007 10:46 AM

I think I might jump in on this one too. My friends and I have been contemplating something along this storyline. End of the world U.S pissing people off, china misbehaving. I'm in. But as Nanuk said I am gonna need a little time to decide how I ended up so far west. So I will get back to you shortly. But sounds awsome! Post soon.

Mmk here we go.

Name: Meg Lee
Age: 30
Ethnicity: Caucasion
Nationality: American
Height: 5" 6'
Weight: 145
Apperance: Your typical New Englander, if New England still existed that is. She has dark hair, with copper highlights, and blue eyes. She wears a green shirt with various medevil looking designs on it and patched cargo pants. She has an army issue military cap and black leather gloves. Over her shirt she wears a brown vest and a black leather trench coat to compliment her brown combat boots. On cold days she pulls on a thick green winter jacket over her whole upper outfit.

History: if it comes up it comes up, if not oh well.

thanks for the sheet, I'll make my character later

02/14/2007 3:12 PM

02/15/2007 12:26 PM

Name: Alexa Stret
Age: 17
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Nationality: English
Height: 5"6
Weight:120 pounds
Eye colour: Light blue
Hair colour: Copper, Shoulder length
Build: Light, slender

She's talented plays the violin and flute and did very well in the remains of the schooling system, this is bested only by her computer skills she is her units hacker, in 2020 every military system is protected from tanks to basic cars and all UEU units are trained to over come this.

The USA had it bad the UK didn't do much better, 70% underwater and what's left frozen due to the Gulf Stream moving, the US even after all the attacks still has what the world needs oil, food, and power. Of the 3 million left in the UK 30,000 are in the armed forces and most of the population is under 35. In 2020 the covert war began with UK, Russia, France, Germany, Spain all grouped into the new UEU United European Union. With a combined population of 50 million they make up 20% of the humans left on the planet, they don't want to risk open war due to the fact that the US still holds several nuclear weapons and may still use them. The UK leads the first attack to gain and hold military areas in the US, and then other UEU forces take the green belt below Canada.

Alexa was separated from the group in the drop and landed in Gattle military facility 50 mile north of Milfay while the rest of the group had already made it to Fort Smith, she head to Milfay to join up with the group in a few days.

Ok just so all know id didn't Milfay is here

I just noticed that poor Jack is completely surrounded by women. This could get ugly. :D

02/16/2007 7:43 AM

Lol, I think two are a little out of Jacks league and I think the other is a little bonkers.

02/16/2007 9:18 AM

Ok my laptops freaked out while uploading =p

02/16/2007 12:52 PM

Question for Dyingstar

Are you are mercenary or part of UEU that I talked about?

If so then this is a basic plan... if you want to try it.

02/16/2007 1:09 PM

Ah, yeah, I'm gonna have to use my GM powers and say a few things about that character. For one: purple eyes? Maybe if you wear color contacts all the time, which are about as easy to come by as petrol in this timeline. Also, be very sure that you read the setting background. It's all right if you're with the EU, but if you're part of that story arc, read Luna's character bio to get an idea of what you're doing in America.

02/16/2007 2:34 PM

It would be lolness is she trip over the horse... just came to me

what are people normal net times, think week i'll be on randomly but if we go on longer went do people go on?

I go on 4:30pm till 11pm ish most days but i'll be doing homework at the same time (GMT)

02/16/2007 3:01 PM

Yea I thought it would be funny if you tripped over the horse so thats what i had you do. :-) I am on pretty consistently. So no worries here. This is fun, I didn't think my character would come out so crazy, and I am starting to question my actual sanity at the moment. But anyway, I am having a blast!

Oh I am so confused there was a post from Jack and then there wasn't I think we posted at the same time. lol Alright well. *Sits back and waits*

[Edited by Verbalscrapper on Friday, February 16, 2007 3:16 PM]

02/16/2007 3:27 PM

Ah, the continuity police paid me a visit when I made that post, so I had to edit it. It's all right, though -- it gives me a chance to expand the plot and give Luna a much bigger role in the story.

Oh, and Luna, I'm going to be taking control of Alexa's commanding officers so you know. A plot is brewing. :D

02/16/2007 5:14 PM

Who is Luna ? But in any case i like the idea of Mercinary and the dark purple eyes idea came from my girl friend she thought that would be cool >.>

[Edited by Dyingstar on Friday, February 16, 2007 5:16 PM]

02/17/2007 9:44 AM

Look at the rest of the thread =p

Purple eyes could be the result of something like radiation or maybe he has a new kind of eye infection that leaves the person with purple eyes even when they recover all the pigments changed...

[Edited by LunaMaria on Saturday, February 17, 2007 10:43 AM]

Ok but GM over rules. But I don't think the infection is to far fetched, you can get folk with pink eyes....

[Edited by LunaMaria on Saturday, February 17, 2007 12:32 PM]

02/17/2007 10:38 AM

I'm reading along avidly- and slightly scared of 'Scrappers character- and like Luna said this is a small town so there probably aren't too many other people around so it's be a bit of a stretch if I appeared.
I'll keep reading and if there's an opportunity for me to jump in a shall- checking with y'all of course first to make sure it's okay. You have a nice dynamic going that I don't really want to disrupt

02/17/2007 11:12 AM

Everyone is afraid of the crazy lady. *sniff*it's a wonder i have friends in real life with me acting like this. Well I guess she is fairly intimidating.

02/17/2007 12:25 PM

LOW fantasy, people. Radiation damage results in blindness or death, not purple eyes. If you want examples of the effects of radiation, read up on the medical cases that occurred twenty years after Chernobyl -- if you honestly find one documented case of benign mutation, please let me know.

So, ruling stays. No anime eyes. :P If you *really* want purple eyes, give him blue-hazel eyes that react in low light to look purple-tinged.

This goes for everyone: this isn't your typical sci-fi story. There aren't super mutants or giant robots, or plasma rifles. It's a possible not-too-distant future. Watch the movie Children of Men for a general idea of what this kind of world looks like.

Oh, and nanuk, go ahead and post your character and I'll make sure to create an opening for you.

02/17/2007 12:29 PM

Nanuk a lot can change in 13 years, if the US forces build up in middle America then the little places in the middle like Milfay, could grown to be quite large and there must be loads of people in the area:

Roady caravan where the girl came from
The UEU troops and other forces in the area
it's on an old rail line....
and with the water and other factors it's pretty habitable

How just do you want to make your entrance?

and as who?

02/17/2007 12:46 PM

have to think about it- know nothing about guns except a few names, evil things, so I'm trying to develop a character with useful skills to slot in where I don't need to worry about knowing about calibers and scopes ;)

I'm finishing up for the evening anyway so don't worry about it for now- and seriously, don't go out of your way to accommodate me because I'm enjoying even just reading it.

02/17/2007 1:58 PM

Think about the show Lost and the myriad characters there. Sometimes the best characters are the ones that lack any sort of combat skill besides knowing when to duck and cover. Besides, not everyone who survived did so because they knew how to shoot. In many cases, people stayed in towns and survived because they knew how to grow food that didn't require the same environment as conventional crops. A botanist who knows how to set up proper greenhouses in this world is just as likely to survive -- if not more so -- than a person who knows how to shoot.

Moreover, I prefer characters that have a strong sense of mortality about them. It's always cooler and more exciting when a person survives by their wits than by the amount of bullets they're carrying.

02/18/2007 5:34 AM

Very good point.
You have shamed by your stating of the retrospectively obvious ;)

will post soon, promise.
but I have Scrapper breathing down my neck for taste of blood so I have to deal with that first...

02/18/2007 5:39 AM

oh, and I forgot to say- I had actually been considering a botanist but you've gone and ruined that now ;)

thinking, thinking..

02/18/2007 7:12 AM

Name: Emi Saito
Age: 28
Ethnicity: Japanese American
Nationality: American
Height: 5'5
Weight: irrelevant, really ;)
Eye color: brown
Hair color: black, cropped short
Build: average to slight
General appearance: Quiet but not introverted, the type to have a few close friends rather than many more casual acquaintances, Emi was a friendly and open young woman, enthusiastic in most aspects of her quite normal life. Hers was a face accustomed to smiling but has suffered much- like most- in the past few years. She dresses practically and boyishly- jeans or many-pocketed trousers, light tops that can be layered in the cold, hiking boots, an ever-present waterproof backpack and light pop-up tent.

Background: Her parents met in Venezuela, her father a geologist, her mother a biologist. Both academics preferred being in the field so she travelled a lot as a child. Along with a love of language she gained that independence that an only child left to their own devices often has.
Although she loved the world of research and discovery her parents inhabited she chose a different path, studying to become a chef, loving the cultural differences in the acts of preparing and taking meals they encountered while travelling.
She had been studying in southern Italy when the war broke out but managed to return to her family home in Hastings, Nebraska. After the Zion Incident they had started moving south, stopping in small towns for a few months at a time.
She is now travelling alone. Hardly world-wise the only reason she has managed to survive by herself is a combination of half-remembered information from journeying with her parents when young and sheer luck.

weak, I know, but I think I've spent all my creative juices for this week.
Whenever a natural opening presents itself you can slip her in, but continue on with what you're doing until it seems handy

02/18/2007 9:49 AM

I love it, I was thinking about down grading Alexa to something like that.

Event that I will put in if the opp comes up in the next week:

US attack on the train (Steam train, it's turning into a western with the cavalry and what not...)

US Counter attack, in middle America

German, French and Spanish landing on the west coast.

There maybe an attack on the Convoy but I don't know by who yet.

Here a map I've been work on with the data from jack and my own knowledge of the worlds coast eg where the mountains are.

Hone doggy! well now this is quite the detailed posting, I think i have some research to do before I post anything even remotely appealing. Right now all i have is my charming personality for comic reliefs sake ;-) And hazah Nanuk is coming in! A familiar face so I don't feel so lonely. Well *Kicks back* lets see what happens.

02/18/2007 12:25 PM

yeah, you seem to be having problems fitting in alright ;)

(btw Luna- 'the fields looked as if they were filled with lavender', loved it)

02/18/2007 12:45 PM

I don't think I could've made a more perfect map, Luna. That was exactly the image I was going for. I also like how you paid attention to the radioactive hot spots as indicated with the red on the map. Very well done.

And excellent background, nanuk.

Oh captain my captain- I am here but to serve.

02/18/2007 4:53 PM

but I have Scrapper breathing down my neck for taste of blood so I have to deal with that first...

Breathing down your neck... Humph. ;-) Well don't let me stop you from doing greater things, this post is alot more organized and detailed than my piece. *mumbles- Traitor* *whistles* Anyway, well crazy lady awaits post before she knocks this Brit flat on his whimpy arse.

02/18/2007 6:25 PM

Looking very cool, all. I'm putting something together now, and would be glad to join.

02/19/2007 8:26 AM

Name: Raymond Des Fleurs
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Nationality: Canadian
Height: 6"3
Weight: 170 pounds
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Brown
Build: Not skinny but not really fat, semi musculature.
General appearance: Long hair down to his shoulders, hikes round in a Lakers jacket and black jeans.

Background: Went to medical school in Las Vegas and then got a job in a Chicago hospital, he befriended a doctor by the name Jack Dervish who would regale him with tales from Africa and other such things. After the Zion incident they never saw each other again, He moved south with over workers from the hospital giving aid to those who needed it.

Never to far from his new found friends in a Roadie convoy was the one who would be there to cheer them up or keep them going as his belief in God kept him. He enjoyed it more than most making the best of it as it were, when a young girl went missing he was one of the first to help to look for her. They couldn't and were forced to move on until they reached some local tension..

Raymond dragged himself out from under the car, scratched but not other wise hurt, still wondering what all the shooting meant.

A ghost from Jack's past? Intriguing. :D

A few things:

He's a bit young for a medical doctor, so you might want to age him up a bit. Also, LA was effectively underwater by 2015, so another school away from the coasts would be in order. Other than that, I like it -- it'll be fun to delve into Jack's past a bit more through other characters.

So my little bro did join up lol

just gona start writing but, it's so hard not to have, "Alexa drew a sword out from nowhere and charged in the fray," just picture it

02/19/2007 11:17 AM

Ok done and done

02/19/2007 1:52 PM

I've made an opening for you, nanuk. Enjoy the horrors of improvised field surgery. :D

02/19/2007 1:56 PM

woot! Asian, slight build- that's me!

Nicely done, sir.

hmm... shan't post now, nip/tuck's on, but that gives me an hour to dwell on it. Stomach wound, sweet..

02/19/2007 3:20 PM

sorry for the abruptness of the end of my post but I've stupidly placed the PC in the guest room which is annoyingly occupied tonight.
I am a fool.

Won't be able to check in till tomorrow afternoon as I'm off to the zoo to visit my old work colleagues, but it'll pretty much be late morningish America-time when I get back so shouldn't be a problem.

02/19/2007 4:45 PM

Ah, meatball surgery. Kids, don't try this at home. ;)

This takes a bit of getting used to; I don't usually have players posting so often in the threads I run, so every time I post something new I look back and notice someone else has posted minutes before me. I gotta start checking the thread before I hit the post reply button.

02/20/2007 2:12 AM

I've learned that the hard was in Scrapper's thread, lol.

nice posts by the way. Shan't post before I leave for the day because it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch of the imagination that Emi would be unconscious after that- just in case you think I'm ignoring you ;)

02/20/2007 6:57 AM

Ok I'm loving it so far...

I'm gona try to down grade it to a much smaller scale from now on, not so much Big battles and stuff for a while so we can get back down to the smaller story lines =) I would like a opp and or reason for Alexa to join the group and just her... not sure how myself but she came out a bit hardcore UEU which I didn't expect.

02/20/2007 10:36 AM

I'm going to stay unconscious for a while until you expert tacticians get us out of here..

oh and Kurtz, just a little pointer- I know sometimes it's necessary to put in responses or actions for characters to move the thread along but try not to put potentially character-altering phrases in the mouths of other people's characters; to say somebody doesn't believe in god, for example, could really alter the fundamental view of the world that character would hold (especially in a post-apocalyptic world! ;) ).
With 2 parents of a scientific background it's not necessarily a stretch to imagine Emi wouldn't believe in god- but alternatively, that fact that the first words out of her mouth were 'ohmigod' could be interpreted the other way.

It's no big issue this time, I'll just have her be agnostic ;)

02/20/2007 10:44 AM

Or perhaps it was just something said out of delirium. Weren't even really sure of what you were saying just kind of came out as a jumble of words. So you don't have to be agnostic or atheist or anything. Still can reclaim your characters beliefs, always loop holes.

02/20/2007 10:55 AM

well religious belief was not going to be a big theme of my posting here like I said, so no harm done this time- it's more of a pointer for the future.
I am a teacher after all.

oh I wonder am I back on ratemyteacher..

02/20/2007 1:04 PM

It's would be cute if one of the kids was O positive, but it's up to everyone else to chose, if we can get your trust that is.

02/20/2007 1:21 PM

Ironically enough in RL I'm O pos. Don't think Emi'd be in any condition to donate though.

02/20/2007 1:44 PM

In real life I am too... BLOOD BUDDIES, HIGH FIVE.

Jack be nice, we come in peace, be reasonable, Alexa needs to pee.

02/20/2007 1:59 PM

and Emi needs anitbiotics

some mulled wine would be nice too... and it's, you know, medicinal...

Stand down my arse, you can't reason with a crazy lady.

And is it me or is Jack pushing for a romantic story line? I don't mind I just have never RPed one of those before.

As for Emi well her antibiotics will just have to wait and Alexa will have to prove shes not gonna hurt my kittens. I love my kittens. :-D

02/20/2007 3:00 PM

And is it me or is Jack pushing for a romantic story line? I don't mind I just have never RPed one of those before.

oh yeah, I bet, you vixen you.
Damn, I knew I should've gotten in on this sooner...

02/20/2007 3:22 PM

;) Not necessarily, I just like realism. In stressful situations, arousal and attraction are emotions that are always flared, and Meg -- being closest to Jack -- would feel them just as well as anyone else in her situation. The dynamic just becomes more compelling when you take into account the fact that she's bat-shit crazy, and Jack is more interested in ensuring everyone's survival than flirting.

These kinds of stress-induced relationships usually go in one of two directions: either the stress dissolves and the attraction is reduced to mere admiration, or clothes are torn off in a sudden fit of passion and wild, crazy sex ensues. It's really a question of how much alone time the two characters get, how much alcohol is involved, and how close they are to certain death.

Emi throws an even more entertaining element to the situation by inevitably seeing Jack as the knight in shining armor who saved her life. Once she recovers, she could present an interesting alternative to the attraction equation. :D

02/20/2007 3:52 PM

*growls at Emi*
I saw him first! Waait hang on I don't do the cat fight thing. Well we'll just see how this plays out. Bring on the Alcohol and guns baby!

02/20/2007 4:51 PM

I'm japanese, bitch!
As it's an RP of course I'm going to stereotypically know all kinds of scary martial arts things to wrestle Jack from your cold, dead hands.

we could always turn the tables on him and unite as sisters.

but that probably wouldn't be as fun.

(Bet Luna's regretting getting her little bro to sign up now...)

oh also- I fully intend to post more regularly in the RP thread once it's viable for Emi to be a little more conscious ;)

[Edited by nanuk on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 5:13 PM]

02/20/2007 7:28 PM

i'm thinking drunken bar fight is far more crazy ladies style. The sister thing... possible, I guess we would have to agree to share him then.

Besides a gun kicks martial arts ass anyday. Bring it on sistuh. Hold my M40 While I whoop her ass!

Sorry that is the inner city girl in me trying to get out. Down girl, down. Yeah I think it is way more fun to fight over him.

02/21/2007 9:03 AM

I'll bring alcohol out and there might be some potato moonshine, out back...

If you and jack want to, go ahead I'll cover his eyes, but who does that leave Alexa with, Airhead, wimp or my brothers RP... Someone else join please....

02/21/2007 9:09 AM

Oh shit you did bring alcohol alright... let me edit that post. Haha but whats the fun if I really get him first? I at least want Emi to be awake for jealousy purposes. Naw screw it where's that vodka?

02/21/2007 11:18 AM

I'm gone for a couple of hours and this is what happens...

02/21/2007 2:01 PM

Hey you snooze you lose. *winks* he's mine now.

02/21/2007 2:35 PM

Well apparently he's nobody's.
You've scared him off with your forward ways. For shame.

02/21/2007 2:42 PM

You had no idea how exited I was when i came back in, "OH A post finaly...," -_- (Grr, JACK)

I spend way to much time here, part from when i went out for four hours and when i played on Battle field 2142... I'm gona cut down starting Sunday, on that note.

Jack, I have such a story piece already but if you don't... we need alone time,

I'll be out with mates, 11- 6 GMT tomorrow just a head up, don't rely on me then,

02/21/2007 2:55 PM

Jisses, if only girls fought over me like this is real life! :D Maybe I need to grow dreads and perform field surgery with a spoon.

I just made Alexa's inclusion into the group a lot easier. Now we're all on the run from the government!

02/21/2007 3:13 PM

Thank but now i have to do a flash back, that was a big jump, Great but big jump...

Now we may never know what else she might have said with she hand got talking with Jack.

I don't know why but after that post I'm crying, God I can be so weird, I mean I wrote it, Sob, Some please jump in a save her, good why do I ways kill people off, it means it's hard to write for days. (I don't want to)

I think I'll go to bed now.

02/21/2007 3:33 PM

wow. heavy.
And I thought I got involved with my characters..

rest up, chica.

on a lighter note...

Emi was Jack's obvious priority, since she was his patient, and he had sworn an oath long ago to protect his patients first.

obvious priority- suck it, girls! Sisterhood is out the window. To the most greviously injured go the spoils! ;)

Emi would be out for a few more hours, at least.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I actually have to start posting, I've been enjoying just reading the thing. Oh effort!

02/21/2007 4:06 PM

Awww, I hope she doesn't decide to pop the pill. There's so much depth to her character now -- it'd be a shame to just throw it all away, ah?

02/21/2007 8:16 PM

obvious priority- suck it, girls! Sisterhood is out the window. To the most greviously injured go the spoils! ;)

*shoots self in leg* Ah pain! Hmm that doesn't look grievious enough. *takes out knife and aims for belly* Wait what am I doing. I should read the posts first you guys got me all excited here I hope it is as good as the trailer is making it sound. *drops knif and goes to keyboard*

Edit: So I read the post, and last I checked I was the one swooning into his arms. "Don't you wish your girls friend was hot like me????" That must have been a very surpresed memory. I would like to blame alcohol and blood loss on that one. Well I went to start typing and froze. It just didn't feel right. I couldn't break the drama of this high intensity moment for my stupid antics. This is getting really good guys. I am fucking loving it!

language, dear, language.

02/22/2007 11:46 AM

Watching Children of men right now, got it while I was out, well it shows some interaction I think we could use and the raiders to a greater depth like the Fishes. But let reveal more into the group, lets dig under the skin, quite for a while, lets build the Kids up a bit more, I got Keys.

02/22/2007 11:56 AM

Incredible movie, no? I do admit that it was part of my inspiration for hosting this thread. But then I've always had a place in my heart for post-apocalyptic stories.

02/22/2007 4:03 PM

It's not compulsory to watch it, is it? ;)
Because I cannot BEAR Clive Owen. He's intolerably uncharismatic.

02/22/2007 7:32 PM

language, dear, language.

Yes mom. :-P

As for children of men I have yeet to see it. I know my friends and I have been dying to but we are um... slow. I do agree with Luna I think we should build up the kids a bit. I love my kittens. Will try to post.

02/23/2007 11:09 AM

Seriously, I have had that song in my head all day. I'm about ready to go postal on someone.

02/23/2007 11:49 AM

I have never actually heard that joke before and that was quite funny. I might start telling that one.

02/23/2007 11:55 AM

Most of the jokes you hear in South African bars are about ducks... I have no idea why.

02/23/2007 12:04 PM

sorry for the abruptness and all around crappiness of that post- I was in a bit of a rush, wanted to get something in before our resident gun-toting psycho *cough*meg*cough* got too impatient.

Also, feeling very stifled by being semi-conscious, lol. Method acting kills my muse..

02/23/2007 12:10 PM

Nah, that was great. You've been rolling with the situation perfectly. Once we get to a structure Emi should be able to start moving around a bit more... or at least stay conscious for longer.

02/24/2007 5:40 AM

She smiled again; were it not for her pale complexion and steady grimace from being in constant pain, Jack would consider her to be very attractive.

*throws fist in the air*
MWAHAHAH! Now I shall do the happy dance, oh yeah!

I am slightly worried by the 'bitch is going down' bit though...

(god Jack you're really loving this, aren't you? ;) )

02/24/2007 7:46 AM

*Snickers*, haha only Marie shall know my evil plot to take you down. *wide evil grin*

Yeah I think he is enjoying this a bit too much. But no wories it is adding an interesting bit of plot thickener and now we get to see whos the better flirt. So bring your game face cause' it's on!

02/24/2007 9:52 AM

Ah, but I have the benefit of my vast years of experience..

Unfortunately, I have to go out to dinner for a friend's birthday- so you have a couple of hours to try to work your magic on Jack.. but I'll be back, oh yes..

02/24/2007 4:31 PM

I checked, Milfay is on the edge of tornado alley as at the mo... in 2020 if the gulf streams moved then Milfay would be slap bang in the middle, also it would only be 70 odd miles from the sea by my map.

I planed on just high winds from the edge of a storm, but it's up to everyone else really

02/24/2007 5:09 PM

I've no objection but it's Jack's thread.

02/24/2007 8:09 PM

Oh, there will be at least one black blizzard encountered in this thread. :D There's too much dust in the air for there not to be one.

02/24/2007 9:51 PM

I thought it important to illustrate what a fucking bastard Jack used to be. And people still get away with that old con all the time...

02/24/2007 10:00 PM

Wow man, guees I'm glad your with Emi then. *laughs*
Of course I will still fight for you, I have a thing for the untrustworthy, troublemaking, heartbreaking types.

02/24/2007 10:12 PM

Somehow I doubt he'll make a choice any time soon. For obvious reasons, Jack is reluctant when it comes to women now (Jisses... all that waiting will probably make for an *awesome* love scene, or just drive Emi and Meg to the other doctor because they're tired of waiting for Mr. Masculine to get over his baggage :D).

Aww man -- love triangles, sordid pasts, hunky protagonists... I should write romance novels.

02/24/2007 10:57 PM

Lol I was hoping you would drag it out a good long time. I want a damn good drag out with Emi. And love triangles are great, they always lead to tense moments which lead to, lack of clothing. Which can be good and bad. As for the other doctor, he's on his own, plus you are alpha male. Go get em killer.

02/25/2007 10:28 AM

mmk I am a little confused as to where we all are. First we were moving, then we stopped nd Alex started twiddling with wires and is no one concerned about the tents with bullet holes? That's it I am staying in the car.

Much safer in the car.

02/28/2007 9:20 AM

Sorry about my lack of being in the last two days my Nets been broken... but I fixed it, my dad is hopeless

03/14/2007 11:51 AM

I don't really want to let this fallow to much longer so does any folk other than me want to keep going?

03/15/2007 8:44 AM

haven't seen Jack around much lately..

03/15/2007 7:03 PM

Yeah it's a shame I really liked this thread.

05/06/2007 3:58 PM

Name: Jackal (no one knows his real name, so they just call him Jackal)
Nationality: Spain
Eye colour: icy blue
Hair: black, down to his neck, and scruffy.
Build: Extremely thin, but with a lean build.
Weapons: A cutlass (God knows where he got it) that he has slung over his shoulder.
Appearance: A truly strange looking fellow. He always has a jug of some strange fluid (usually alcohol) in his left hand and his right is always ready to whip out that cutlass of his. A pair of dirty green jeans, torn at the knees and around the ankles practically hangs from his boney hips. A scarf acts as a makeshift belt to keep these obviously oversized pants on his sticklike frame. His shirless upperbody has a long, ripped, black leather trench coat that drags along the ground behind him like the sad cape of some circus performer in a bad comedy act. He has a scruffy little goatee and a similarly kept mustache. His easy going personality tends to leave a goofy ,contented and large grinned expression on his face. His body is littered with tattoos, mostly senseless black spirals and circular patterns that arrange themselves in a bizzare static dance on his flesh. His body is seemingly void of body hair, instead he has a collection of scars all over his tattooed flesh, which only adds to his strange appearance. His face has only one tattoo, the words be gentle accross his forehead in flambuoyant cursive writing, that once again only adds to his overall weird appearance. Hanging from his neck is a small bottle with a piece of paper within it that if you could get him to show it, it would read "I love that flower, that beautiful woman and that friend of mine... I fight for this like that guy down the street would fight for his country like a blind fool. Love is the blind sight."
His sword is slund over his back by a piece of old twine which is tied to his shoulder.
Personality/Background: He is generally optimistic and cheerful despite the wartorn and ravaged world he lives in. His joyful demeanor however will quickly disapear if he sees someone abusing their power and harming those undeserving of abuse and oppression. His features will harden as his anger rises and his eyes grow increasingly cold in their intense and frightening stare. His ability with the sword is stunning, he is considered by all that know him to be a true master of the sword. Capable of swinging his cutlass at speeds that will send it through metal and flesh alike, he is a truly fearsome opponent. He supposedly learned his swordmanship from a man back in Spain called Father Jackal. Father Jackal not only taught him swordsmanship but he also taught him the way of the drunken wanderer, a way of life Jackal has kept to this day. His alcoholism is truly a unique thing in that alcohol has little affect on his intelligence or fighting ability, in fact he is supposed always somewhat intoxicated, his bizarre immunity to alcohol's negative effects on the liver, kidneys, brain and metabalism has made him the perfect drunkard. He will never turn down a drink from anyone, even an enemy, such is his addiction. He supposedly intentionally took a boat to the US. His only known motivation is probably the load of innocent people there that are being abused by the gangs and the dying government.

05/06/2007 6:09 PM

This thread was pretty durn dead, lol.
And at least three of the people have not been around in some time, and one of the others only infrequently.

Good luck ;)

05/07/2007 1:58 AM

Thanks for you vote of confidence Nanuk

Thanks finally some one joins back up, well put up a post letting me know where you are and what you've been doing and from there we should be able to get new people.

05/07/2007 4:40 AM

Thanks for you vote of confidence Nanuk

Well there wasn't much response when you posted the thread up a while ago in interest forums hoping to revive it, was there?
Scrapper;'s gone, Jack's gone, you and your brother had barely been on and I'm no longer interested in it so I wouldn't say there is much cause to be confident.
And when threads are this long gone it can be very difficult for players to get back into it- when there are still players around who want to.

And the post apocalyptic feel is very much similar to the 2 mech RPs and the other thread based on some game (Command and Conquer? Can't remember) so I don't see why it's even necessary to revive it.

But good luck with it.
