This is a Firefly/Serenity role play. Some small knowledge of the series/movie Would be good, but not at all necessary. A little bit of quality time with google will remedy that anyway. Questions, comments, and character sheets will go here. Once it gets going, I hope to get two rounds of turn based banter a week, at least. But I can understand when life gets in the way. The general direction of the plot is in the first RP post, but the exact path the story will take I am leaving up to the people involved.

For now, I'm mainly looking to crew a single ship against the alliance. Especially one or two who know this 'verse and want to have their charecters be old friends or crew mates of mine and to help direct the RP.

Eventually, after some time IC or a tidal wave of interest, I'd accept some on the side of the Alliance or another ship worth of people.

A list of planets mentioned in the series, movie, and comic if you find it necessiary. I am starting on Persephone, but will move around once the RP gets going. You're also welcome to make up some backwater moon, but the core planets are all listed on the page.

Here's the template Character sheet. And do make the effort to delete the comments/restrictions I wrote in. It looks bad when you don't.

Nickname: Include an explanation if it's not obvious

Ethnic Appearance: Chinese, Caucasian, or of African descent. African-Americans went out into space with the rest of the Americans. Be aware that this does not nessicarily have to match your surname. Humans have been in space long enough that the name rarely matches the face anymore.

Eye Color:

Hair Color and style:

Usual Clothing:

Specialty Weapon: Something they might have made for themselves, or had specially customized. Be somewhat realistic.

Other weapons: Guns, blades, and where they're kept.

Background: Are you a veteran spacer who quit their crew because the captain choose the wrong side? Or are you a defector from the Alliance military? Perhaps you're a greenhorn, fresh off the farm and looking to make a difference in this messed up 'verse? What have you done between birth and the time the Serenity's crew sent out that 'cast to the whole 'verse?

Response to the 'cast about the Reaver's origin: What did you think? Know it all along, or spit your drink in surprise? Tell me how this lead you to where the RP is going to start.

Other notes: Anything you feel you need to add.

Here is mine, as a filled out example.

Name: Sandra Elizabeth Thompson

Nickname: Set. She hates her name, so goes by her initials.

Ethnic Appearance: African American

Eye Color: Brown

Hair Color and Style: Dark brown, slightly wavy, and just long enough to tie back into a pony tail.

Build: About five and a half feet or a little over a meter and a half. She wouldn't make a room full of men choke on their drinks when she walked in, but you wouldn't want to chew your arm off to get away from her in the morning. She's got muscle, but it doesn't show through her clothes much.

Usual Clothes: Black tank top, black pants, fingerless gloves, calf high boots. Sometimes adds a trench coat.

Specialty Weapon: Her gloves contain crescent shaped blades in the back of the hand that extend about an inch and lock in that position when triggered. They can only do damage if her hand is in a fist. Also, when not triggered, a back hand from her while she has them on is a little like getting smacked with a frying pan.

Other Weapons: Two hand guns in hip holsters are her main weapons. A pair of blades are hidden, one in each boot. She also brings along a shotgun when she expects trouble.

Background: Set was sympathetic to the rebellion. Rather than actually fighting, she usually ran supplies to them. She did see some action, but it was pretty mild compared to the stories she heard. She got her own ship after the war, and went into business doing mostly legitimate supply runs between the core and the frontier. She kept away from smuggling as much as she could manage, but a girl does have to make a living.

Response to the 'cast about the Reaver's origin: Set had never been a huge fan of the Alliance. They were always sticking their noses where they had no need to be. She knew that they would cross the line, sooner rather than later. She just never knew that they had already been there and back. That 'cast was the end of it for her. She may have sympathized with the brown coats', but now she was pushed beyond their original cause for Independence from the Alliance. No, now she wanted no trace to be left of the Alliance except for the horror stories of their short comings in the history books. She told her crew as much, but they were less inclined than she to go against the might of the government. Only (player characters who I choose to help with plot) decided to stay on. Now she needs at least a skeleton crew to get off Persephone and start collecting both information and allies.

Other: Her ship is a Firefly class, by the name of Boshí (Jewel). She's a bit over attached to it, as any decent captian tends to be. It's not exactly a looker of a ship, but it does most everything she asks of it. It could use a fresh coat of paint, though.

I never saw the movies but I may now the concept is amazing, I thought you created but it is quite ingenious I am sure I will participate if you allow me.

10/30/2006 7:14 PM

A movie and a short series. Probably 20 episodes or so. Pretty much the basics of what you need to know are up here already, between the intro in the RP thread and my first post here. Feel free to post a character sheet, and I'll be happy to help you get to know the 'verse.

10/31/2006 7:17 PM

I wouldn't mind jumping in if you get enough interest to play. :) If you don't mind, I'd like to reserve the crew member character 'til I can get a character sheet together.

10/31/2006 7:26 PM

No problem. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't checking the board twice a day for replies, but take your time. Good RP can't just be poofed out of thin air at a moment's notice, no matter how much I wish it could be.

10/31/2006 8:22 PM

Heh... I understand, hun. I was the same way when I started my own Firefly thread! Not very often that I try the DM hat on, so I tend to take it rather seriously when I do. At any rate, I'm not sure I'll have a sufficient amount of time to put a decent character together until probably this weekend, but I should have it up for you by then.

Name: Kyp Torvyn

Nickname: Kee'To (Adopted in his smuggler career as to protect his family name and true identity.)

Ethnic Appearance: Caucasian

Eye Color: Green

Hair Color and style: Long Bangs, short back. Dark Dirty blond.

Build: Five Foot Eight. Atheltic, Muscular yet thin, Agile.

Usual Clothing: Black Slacks, a white turtle Kneck, and a black spacer's vest. Holsters on both legs. Fingerless Gloves. A Utility belt around his waist.

Specialty Weapon: Pair of Pistols, modified for extreme accuracy, and/or rapid fire ability. Fitted with scopes and attachable arm stabalizers.

Other weapons: Brass Knuckles fitted into gloves. Combat Knife, and tools inside utility belt. Katana sheathed on his back.

Background: Born on Miranda, Kyp's father lived a privilaged life, amongst the 30 million inhabitants of the World. He however left at age 33, on an expedition with a few "friends" he had found. This led to him becoming a smuggler and an illegitamate civilian of Haven. However as he turned 48 word of the Miranda incident reached Haven, bringing him in frenzy back to his homeworld.

Amongst the destruction his wife lie dead on the floor of the charred remains of his former home, and his first son stood above her covered in her blood. He had become a Reaver. Forced to kill his son in defense of himself and is three month old son still alive through the incident, Kyp's father fled the world for Haven once again. Into seclusion, Kyp's father left his son to an uncle, and soon after was found dead, believed to be a suicide.

Raising his nephew in the arts of smuggling, Kyp grew up to have a lust for revenge, over his father who he was told was driven mad by the death of his mother during the terraforming malfunction, and committed suicide. By the 27, Kyp had become an expert marksman, blades man, and pilot. Furthermore, he had trained in Naval tactics, and Ship Engineering preparing for the day he would leave Haven to discover the truths of his families tragic history.

Response to the 'cast about the Reaver's origin: Angered by the loss of his beloved family, Kyp searches viciously for a way to discover what had truelly become of his mother on Miranda. Now he is on the wake of discovering this venue, and beginning a path of revenge on the Alliance who he would soon find out was the true enemy.

Looks good, just a couple things.

The Miranda incident was a good long while ago. I don't think they actually ever mention a time line, but reavers seem to have been a part of folklore for at the very least a generation. Having Reavers attack a smaller settlement further out than usual would work though.

Also, I'm starting off recruiting a fresh crew, so you'll be coming up to me and telling me why you want to join up with me on the Boshí. Only Airiana's charry has known Set before the start. Hopefully we'll get started this weekend.

And Airiana: Want to drop me a name for your character, and what they do onboard? I'd like to get my first post up soon, and I'll probably put something about your character sticking with her.

11/01/2006 7:07 PM

Been racking my brain all day trying to figure out the particulars so I could get it all written out, lol. But I think the name will be Leah Ray Michaels and she'll be... either your first mate sort of person or the doctor. Which would you prefer?

11/02/2006 2:52 AM

Hey, i wouldn't mind joining in either, though have never seen the film or anything like that, but it sounds really good

11/02/2006 7:52 AM

How about around 75 years ago??? i really want to be connected with it somehow, and my father raising me for revenge would work well too. I am on haven so how exactly would you like me to meet you???

11/02/2006 9:50 AM

one of the main points of the movie is that absolutely no one knew the origin of reavers, except for a very few very high up in the government. Miranda was known to have been settled, and the story was a terraforming malfinction killed everyone. Your father could have raised you to hate the alliance because someone he was close to died from 'the terraforming malfinction' on miranda. and you could hate the reavers specifically because they got your parents in a raid a little further out than normal.

About the location: you could have hitched a ride further into the system, specifically to find a ship and crew that were against the alliance. Or, you could wait untill the RP gets going and I'll bring the Boshi around to haven once i've got a skeleton crew.

I know how hard it is to change once you've got that 'perfect' idea, but i do want to keep true to cannon as much as possible.

11/02/2006 12:20 PM

I edited it again, this time I have the same story however my father before sharing any secrets committed suicide, or atleast that is what is believed. Kyp thinks this was because his father was driven mad by the death of his mother during the terraforming malfunction. Does this work.

11/02/2006 7:31 PM

Looks good. You didn't mention him venturing to Persephone. Are you going to wait untill we get started and make it out there?

11/03/2006 7:53 AM

Yeah hoping to some how hear it through the smuggler grapvine. So when do we start!!!!

11/03/2006 7:59 AM

I'm waiting on Airiana, who should have her sheet up this weekend. There was one other interested person who I don't know what happened to. But when airiana is ready I suppose I'll start with a few NPCs or something. I promise, I'm feeling impatient too.

11/03/2006 8:10 AM

i know, you can start early if you wannt. Check your mail i sent you an important message.

11/04/2006 12:27 AM

Name: Yongmin Worthington

Nickname: Min

Ethnic Appearance: Mostly Korean Mix

Eye Color: Brown

Hair Color and style: Black. Short, but not close cropped

Build: tall and slim, attractive but not stunning

Usual Clothing: Prefers expensive and fashionable, with whipped cream and a smile as a close second, but is willing to put anything on that's necessary.

Specialty Weapon: Derringers and small, concealable arms.

Other weapons: keen mind, good acting skills, and a flair for voice immitation

Background: Yongmin and twin brother Yongshin were born to the Worthington Family of software moguls on Ariel. They were quickly assessed as geniuses and shuffled through a series of excellent private schools, culminating in their acceptance to the Osiris Alliance Institute of Science and Engineering, where they probably could have earned their As if it had not seemed like more fun to cheat their way through the program. The two were joint valadictorians (the prior valedictorian having been caught redhanded with an awful lot of cheating materials which he consistently maintained were not his (wink wink)).

The two went to work briefly for the aliance, designing security systems, but questions about their conduct (and an initially successful attempt to blackmail their superior) led to the loss of their jobs and a quick trip around the outer planets, where they used their good looks, charm, and technical know-how to have the time of their lives as confidence men, hackers, and small time crooks.

Response to the 'cast about the Reaver's origin: Yongmin is obviously not with the alliance as he is technically a wanted man. He has a certain ammount of political apathy, but is always up for a good adventure.

Other notes: Bored rich kid turned Doc Holiday type. Gambler, bon vivant, educated man. Of the twins, Yongmin is the more outgoing, and the better con man.

Yongmin also makes a point to ellaborately hack the postal systems in order to send mail to his younger sister Sunhwa, who he simply adores.

(I have a friend who is interested in playing the other, more Kaylee-functional type twin. We can tone any of this you like down. My guess is that primary uses for this character would be in information gathering, avoiding the police, and funding missions.)

11/04/2006 8:40 AM

(I should say, unlike my colleague above, I haven't the first clue about Firefly other than what's on Wikipedia... but I'm working on it.)

Name: Yongshin Worthington

Nickname: Shin, but you'd better not call him that without permission

Ethnic Appearance: Mostly Korean Mix

Eye Color: Brown, sometimes seen wearing horn-rimmed glasses, though they have useless plastic lenses

Hair Color and style: Black. Prefers to wear it longer, but has had it cut to match Yongmin's so they can more easily confuse people

Build: Identical to Yongmin, somewhat thinner but this wouldn't be noticable until a few weeks of familiarity

Usual Clothing: More subdued than Min, elegant but not formal, often full coverage and dark colors

Specialty Weapon: Keeps a derringer and has a fetish for bite-size remotely detonated explosives

Other weapons: An excellent forger and all-purpose chameleon. He's unassuming compared to his brother, so when they're apart he can blend in anywhere.

Background: See above. Shin is more nervous than Min, and tended to be less outlandish in their playboy antics at the Institute, but he always followed his brother's lead in deeds and personality. While easily convinced to cheat his way through school for the fun and the challenge of it, he backed up his unearned marks with intense actual study (the better to feign honesty after all). As a result, he's a keen hand at computer and systems engineering, hacking, cryptography, and whatever other applications he applies himself to, and he's markedly quicker and more skillful at it than his brother.

He's enjoyed their life on the frontier as con men, though he's not as confident as Min and thus more concerned about getting caught. This tends to make him coldly violent when their cons don't play, since he feels eliminating any witnesses would probably be necessary. He hasn't actually harmed anybody yet, though, because he lets Min rationalize him out of it.

Response to the 'cast about the Reaver's origin: Shin was always fascinated by the idea of Reavers as a mysterious malicious force. When it came out that they were a government plot, it filled him more with jaded disappointment than anything.

Other notes: Shin is the introverted twin, and would follow his brother to the ends of space. He's quick to get jealous when Min pays attention to anyone else, having always thought of them as an inseparable unit. He's even jealous of Min's affection for Sunhwa, and sometimes intercepts his letters to her out of spite.

11/04/2006 8:42 AM

Looks good to go. Very interesting pair, i must say. Will you be joining us on persephone, or somewhat later on? I picked it mainly because it seemed the sort of place where one could dodge the authorities long enough to ship hop. Either way, welcome aboard, to both of you.

Just have your friend stick a sheet up here so it's easier for me to keep track of everyone.

Edit: Seemed to catch you while you were updating , then. *thumbs up* I plan on getting started as soom as one other person gets their sheet up, which should be before the end of the weekend, hopefully.

to Mablung_Surion and Airiana:

I seemed to have overlooked your posts, trying to help Animus out. Really sorry about that. Kinda feel like a boob now. Heh.

Mablung: You're quite welcome to hop in. With all the tweaking of Animus' character and everything else, you should probably have a good idea of what the 'verse is about. You're welcome to write up a sheet, or just stay back in the wings a while to watch whats going on for now. whichever you're more comfortable with.

Airiana: Can't wait. How 'bout the doc, but a good friend? and especially since they've known each other a while, Leah's word will carry a good deal of weight with Set.

11/04/2006 9:43 AM

We're pretty flexible, and I think how we meet up with you depends mostly on how you, as both the game master and captain, are interested in doing this thing. Do you want your charatcer to know you've taken on wanted men who are professional liars, or do you want to find that out through roleplay?

I think I speak for my compatriot as well when I say we're comfortable with any number of scenarios from you being an old friend who's seen all our cards and established some modicum of trust with us through past adventures, to one where we're actually conning you on your ship. Personally, I kind of like the idea of you hiring us to fix something on your ship and then having to take off with us in it, but as I said, we're totally flexible.

We can be anything from entrenched and rich to peniless and on the lamb at whatever moment you like. We're men of shifting fortunes.

11/04/2006 11:22 AM

Is it possible that I could actually begin posting as Idon't want to keep everyone waiting while I discover about what is going on with your ship.

11/04/2006 11:25 AM

so far our crew is, what total? A captain, a pilot, two engineers, and a first mate/doctor with one miscellaneous addition pending?

11/04/2006 11:45 AM

I am sorta an engineer/Pilot/Weapons expert... In short I could be a chief Engineer, Master at Arms, or Pilot.

At first we could always use NPC's for other crewmembers.

11/04/2006 12:01 PM

.... do starships usually have a master at arms?

At any rate, I actually think that's probably enough people at least for a skeleton crew, but I vote we be good and patient people, and defer ourselves to the judgement of the captain/game master here. She's got at least one other person who wants in on this, and there's no need to go excluding people right away.

Incidentally, cap'n, what sort of story line did you have in mind here? Are we talking a lot of ship time, or down time in towns, or is there a specific plot you're interested in following, or...? Anything is fine with me, but I was curious to know in advance what you anticipated.

Edit- Also, do you want us to perhaps be making concrete lists of things we can and can't do, so we don't pull things out of our ass later?

Also also, what's your opinion/ official guidelines on profanity for this RP?

[Edited by lesliweird on Saturday, November 4, 2006 12:14 PM]

11/04/2006 12:09 PM

Well A Master At Arms is feesible on any ship where anytype of battle may ensue and weapons tactics and catalogues will need to be taken.

11/04/2006 12:23 PM

Alright, here's my sheet. Let me know if there's anything you want me to change.

Name: Leah Ray Michaels

Nickname: Leroy (Bastardization of her actual name, Leah Ray, and since she has a country twang to her voice, it generally seems appropriate, though she'll only tolerate a few people that she's close to to use this name: mainly her family, Set, and a couple doctors she trained with.)

Ethnic Appearance: Caucasian

Eye Color: Light brown

Hair Color and style: Light brown with blond highlights, it falls just short of the middle of her back. She usually wears it pulled up in a ponytail to keep it out of her face.

Build: Medium build; not overly thin, but enough that she doesn't look like she has too much power to her. She is slightly taller than Set at about five feet, seven inches in height, and is average, if possibly slightly underweight for that height at roughly one hundred and twenty-five pounds. Looks can be deceiving, though, and this is one woman that you'd rather not have punch you. Her weight is mainly muscle and growing up hunting and child-tending, she has learned to use her strength.

Usual Clothing: Leah often wears simple clothing. The norm for her is cargo pants and a tank top, perhaps with a doctor's white coat thrown over when necessary.

Specialty Weapon: Leah doesn't carry any modified weapons.

Other weapons: Unlike a lot of doctors, who seem not to like carrying their precision and accuracy into other areas, Leah is an avid hunter (probably a throw-back to growing up on a border moon). She carries the modern equivalent to a Winchester Wildcat .22 (if you want to see the weapon, click [url: http://www.winchesterguns.com/prodinfo/catalog/detail.asp?cat_id=525&type_id=100&cat=018C]here). Since this is a bit much to carry around daily, Leah usually reserves this for the intent purpose of hunting, or when Set asks her to come along on a trip that may potentially be dangerous. So this is generally kept in a gun case under her bunk. Otherwise, she always carries a simple six-shooter revolver (modeled from a Smith and Wesson .22 Magnum, see [url: http://www.gunshopfinder.com/smithandwesson/smithandwessonmodel648.asp]here), nothing fancy. She always has it strapped to her hip, and always mutters about feeling weird when she is forced to take it off for any length of time.

Background: Leah grew up on one of the border moons, a place called Lilac. She was the oldest of four children to a hard-working mother and a somewhat less than honest father. Her mother, Elizabeth, was the perfect housewife, tending to all the cooking, cleaning, washing, child-bearing and raising, and any other sort of thing that needed to be done. Paul, her father, did whatever was necessary to provide for his family, even if that meant doing the odd dirty job that he didn't like talking about.

Being the oldest of the brood, Leah found herself helping her parents out a lot, both helping with the household chores for her mother and with hunting and farming their small garden with her father. After a fashion, Leah realized that she not only had a knack for cleaning up wounds and healing up her siblings, but that she also enjoyed it. Knowing that her family could never afford to ship her off to one of the central planets for training, Leah did near flawlessly in school and earned a scholarship to attend Medacad (the Medical Academy).

Though she loved working in the hospitals and making people well again, Leah found that she missed the rustic settings of her youth. She knew that good money could be made working as a ship's physician on any of the transport ships that moved back and forth between civilization and the border, so she decided to join up with one the first chance she got. Turned out to be Set's ship, the Boshí, and she's been with the captain ever since. The two have grown to be good friends over the years and each trust each other immensely.

Response to the 'cast about the Reavers' origin: Growing up on the border, Leah has always had a slight distrust for the Alliance, and even though she worked and went to school for a time on the central planets, this never faded. It may have, in fact, increased this distrust. So though she may not have known that the Reavers were the fault of the Alliance, it didn't surprise her, and angered her against them even more. She was more than happy to stay with Set and help her on her quest, though more than a little disappointed by the rest of the crew's reaction.

11/04/2006 12:29 PM

Wait, there's a cute little lady with dexterous hands deeply moved and concerned about the reavers revelation?!

Those aliance bastards! They've abused us for the last time. Who know what other horrible experiments they've performed, costing hundreds of hard working, decent people their lives! Hold me back, Leah, I may have to go kill them myself!

11/04/2006 12:36 PM

I think this Rp may actually suceed beyon what my intentions were.

11/04/2006 12:38 PM

Well of course! She grew up on a border moon, and Reavers attacked Lilac at least once (that was where Mal and crew stole the money from the vault in the movie), so naturally the Reavers would frighten her. And then you add to it that the Alliance, who no one on the border really trusts, is responsible? She's damn near ready to take on the entire military single-handedly! :P She's polishing her pistol and cleaning her rifle, rip-roaring and ready to go! Not sure that she'd hold you back, though... ;)

11/04/2006 5:59 PM

Min, dear, restrain yourself.

11/04/2006 9:07 PM

Oy, look what happens when I have to go off to work. Got some catching up to do.

Twins: What you've got is great. I prefer to have only Set and Leroy know each other more than just in passing from some random incounter in the past. That way it lets everyone work out where they fit and how the characters react to each other in a somewhat natural way. What they tell her when coming aboard is pretty much what she'll know of them. As for the money: some amount of money to burn would be good, but no need to have them be rediclously rich.

Animus: Just tweak your profile, and join in right away on persephone.

Lesliweird: Positions seem to be as follows:
-Set: captian/pilot
-Leroy: Doc and probably 1st
-Twins: Mechanics, handymen, probably 2nd shift pilots (as its a good idea to always have someone watching over the autopilot)
-Kee'To: Muscle, perhaps?

Story Line: Basically, we're gunna spend some time getting to know each other as recruiting continues. Hullside/planetside time ratios will really depend on where things start to slow down a little in the RP. To tell you the truth, the less I have to play godmod behind the scenes, the happier I'll be. I came around this site to find some Rp with just enough modding to keep it fair and reasonable, and that's what I hope to get going here. IC, Set will take input from everyone who offers it before deciding where the next destination will be (but keep in mind, input from those she knows and trusts will count for more, as it would for anyone in a position like hers), and OOC, any Ideas you want to throw around will be welcomed and looked over, hopefully by everyone involved. As for plot, eventually I would like to get around to some big time clashing with the Alliance. Anything more than, say, raids on outer planet bases, though, will probably have to wait for later.

Profanity: It's part of everyday life, especially outside the core planets. Keep it reasonable, however, and in character. I don't want to see every sentence with a curse in it. Except, perhaps, if you've just been shot and the doc's poking around without giving you any pain killer first. But I don't think she's quite that mean. The reason all cursing in the series and movie was done in chinese was to allow the characters to use profanity in character without having the censors throw a fit. You don't have to use chinese, but if you feel your character would, then go ahead.

As for pulling stuff out of your ass: There are a few no brainers that i think are applied to every IC post on the sight. No killing Player characters with out the player concent, no taking over someone's character without their concent (and a note left for me in the ooc zone would be nice too). As for other things, feel free to make up some NPCs to amuse yourself and others, but nothing to serious. If anything would really effect the flow of gameplay, run it through me and the ooc board. I have a feeling I'm gunna be pretty lenient about stuff though.

Also, before I forget and if you overlooked it in my charecter sheet: The Boshi is a firefly class. There are, I believe, 6 'crew' quarters, near the bridge, two of which are doubles. One of the doubles belongs to Set. there are 4 'passenger' rooms, downstairs from the galley. This info is straight out of the tabletop rp handbook for the Serenity game. Yay for copying down information right at the bookstore.

Err, did I get everything? I think I did. *closes eyes and pokes the post button*

11/04/2006 10:11 PM

Shin, I think we both know I would prefer it if someone here would restrain me instead.

So, Shin, darling, since I'm missing you online, want to have just successfully completed some diabolically clever ploy and be on our way to make off with a suitcase full of cold hard cash before anybody finds out it was us?

Also, this is kind of sort of my first time on this roleplaying forum... where does OUR roleplaying take place, and how do I get there?

11/05/2006 6:11 AM

I've tried to resist my body's efforts to enforce normal waking hours, but it doesn't seem to be working. A successful ploy sounds fine, as long as we also have canary feathers in our teeth.

As for... that other business, I did not know you were still interested in that kind of activity.

... I'll be right back, I have to go visit the army surplus store.

Once the actual roleplaying starts (I assume it'll start with Set posting something), you'll get to it by clicking the post title, Alliance to the left etc. My question is, how are the mechanics of the roleplay going to work? Are we going to adhere to a strict turn order, or post whenever it suits our dark purposes?

11/05/2006 6:53 AM

I'd very much prefer some sort of turn order. I find it helps keep things from getting to confusing. Even if it's not a perfect same order every time type thing, I do want everyone to post before someone gets their second post in. Unless, of course, someone lets everyone know that life has eaten their free time and will be MIA for a period of time.

Oh, by the way: Although I hope this doesn't happen, anyone who disappears without telling anyone will have their character caught by reavers or something unplesant like that. Or I'll just leave them planetside. Depends on Set's mood. The length of time before such a thing happens will probably be a week, plus the time it takes for everyone else to agree that they haven't seen you or heard from you for a week. I'm not trying to be harsh, but disappearing on us is just sort of mean.

EDIT: If everyone's agreeable, I'll start up the RP when I get back from work, in about 12 hours time.

No need to tweek my CS I will just start off on a landing transport, explaining I had already heard the rumors. Question though, My role would be more befitting of a mechanic or weapons expert, and less of a muscle type guy, what is my role???

11/05/2006 8:07 PM

Turn based is definitely preferable; have you got an order thought up yet? If not, may I humbly suggest that we twins not be one after the other? It'll take away the desire for us to only react to everything the other says.

11/06/2006 7:47 AM

Maybe too keep movement and not allowing one person to over do the others, we should make it that everyone has to post two posts after another. I mean if I post, I cannoit post again until two other people post. Doesn't mastter to me i just don't want the gamje to slow up because people and their real lives.

Name: Ian Malcom

Nickname: Mablung Surion (meaning bastard mystic in latin, call that to his face and you may end up finding out the true meaning of pain, only certain members of the alliance have ever called it him to his face and lived)

Ethnic Appearance: English caucasian

Eye Color: blue

Hair Color and style: dark blonde, rough and of medium length.

Build: stringy build, doesn't seem to be able to carry great weight (for a better description look at a typical Royal Marine)

Usual Clothing: a mix of cloth and armour, wearing dark green Khaki style trousers, neither jeans or tracksuits, a dark blue t-shirt and metallic shoulder plate, it appears as though most of his clothing has been scavenged.

Specialty Weapon: huge two handed sword aka a bastard sword

Other weapons: uses an SA-82 style rifle and a walther P2K style pistol

Background: Ian was once part of the alliances special forces, after an incident during a mission that was meant to see his whole team wiped out he survived and was hunted by the alliance, His team had found out exactly why the reavers had been created, he knew that in the ned the alliance had intended to use his team to wipe them out for they only had one purpose and after that, they would be annialated without considering how useful they were. Seeing himself as betrayed he quickly hurried together some clothing to replace his alliance insignia, with doing this he sought out the rreavers in a hope that one day he would have his revenge on the alliance for turning against him and hiding a deadly truth form all its soldiers.

Response to the 'cast about the Reavers' origin: Ian knew how they had bee created before the broadcasting, he had been part of the clean up forces that were designed to go in and clean up any mess after them, including killing some high profile people, what he was surprised about was that the alliance had let it slip, not that it matters tro him anymore, he merely wants revenge, if these people will help then he would accept them.

there you go, have no idea if this is ok if not i would like some advice on how to make it acceptable.

The government never actually controlled the reavers. They just went batshit crazy and started wiping out outer planet settlements. They raided for a long time, and they take over the crazy indian role from the frontier aspect of the series, except they're really, really crazy. The deal with Miranda was that the government had no idea that their actions would produce the reavers, and they covered up their involvement with all of it.

So, points that might merit revision:

Everybody knew the reavers existed. People just didn't know where they came from.
The reavers are not allied to the government, and the government kills them when it can.

...so, why did the government want to kill your whole team of special forces?

...also, isn't a bastard sword hand and a half instead of two handed?

Hey, is that Ian Malcolm like the Jurassic Park guy?

Also, where did you learn "mablung surion" from? I studied Latin for a bit, and that doesn't look like any Latin I've ever seen, unless you took off the endings to make it less Latin-y. It seems especially weird because the word "mystic" in English has Latin origin ("mysticus"). I also didn't recognize any roots in there, so I couldn't look them up. I'm a big etymology nerd, so I'm really curious.

Well his squad could have been informed to go on a mission to silence some leak in the system. They in turn became part of the problem. Kill the leak, kill the one who learns about the leak. Simple and vile tactic of cover up.

11/09/2006 6:21 AM

also, isn't a bastard sword hand and a half instead of two handed?

Bastard sword were designed to be held in one hand, yes, however when fighting it is nigh on imp-ossible to use just one hand (yes i have been taught)

Ian Malcolm like the Jurassic Park guy?

Yeah, but he has no other similarities, just needed a name

Its ok, took latin at gcse and a level, found out that latin, like all languages, changed depending on where you were, its loosley based on the latin used in wales, also i have mixed it up with a bit of elven, that i have found is based on latin used in spain, so its a mix dialect.

11/10/2006 8:47 AM

Soooo, boss... are we doing this thing?

Are you okay?

11/10/2006 1:12 PM

I am SERIOUSLY considering bombing my local ISP office. *growls somewhat*

K, there are 6 of us now, so as for the turn thing: You need to wait for at least half of the players to post after you before posting a second time.

Anything else?

I seriously hate my ISP.

11/10/2006 2:33 PM

I am ready!!!

11/10/2006 2:40 PM

Let's do this thing.

11/10/2006 4:12 PM

Woo-hoo! :D Happy we're getting started! *Does an excited little dance*

11/11/2006 10:22 AM

Just for anyone reading this message who wasn't already aware- the game is on. Go play.

11/13/2006 5:58 PM

I hope people aren't waiting for me to take a turn before they post next. I'm waiting for Set or Leroy to say something before I respond.

11/13/2006 10:59 PM

I wasn't waiting on anyone. Sorry, hun. Will be replying tomorrow. Got sidetracked tonight when I meant to do it. :(

11/14/2006 9:48 PM

thank you, lesli, for your twin's thoughts. Set now very much wants a reason to back hand someone with her fun little gloves and set their head to ringing. Why most of my characters seem to love (nonleathel) violence I'll never know...No, wait, I do know. It's fun to laugh at people who get hurt when they deserve it. And occationally when they don't but you dislike them anyway.

Yeah, i should be long since asleep at this point. stupid screwy internal clock.

11/15/2006 2:47 PM

Eh ;) Min's not really a fighter, but he's always willing to make a show of things. It's been his experience that people tend to at least appreciate the effort.

11/15/2006 4:42 PM

Wow... Mablung... are you under the impression that Leroy is an NPC? If not, then you have some serious balls on you. And in any case, Leroy is Leah's nickname, and my character. Please refrain from taking control of other people's characters. It's just plain rude.

11/15/2006 5:22 PM

He may have been thrown off by us twins, I guess. For the record, we get to play each other because we often confer beforehand, so don't take your cues from us.

11/15/2006 7:12 PM

We're also good friends who have played together before and know each other's limits... or I guess rather in our case we know what our limits aren't, huh? At any rate, yeah, don't take cues from us. We're special.

11/16/2006 6:19 AM

yeah, sorry, didn't quite know how to get him into crew so got basic conversation all major choices are going to be done by you of course but just quick convo was needed, if you have taken so much offense from it i shan't do it again, sorry

11/16/2006 9:22 AM

How about you just go and edit it, Mab? That'll fix the problem. Just don't do it again. Also, try and keep your posts a bit longer.

The twins are almost one character, the way the players plan things out before posts. it was made pretty clear that they can include the other in their posts to a small extent. I thought i pointed out that the only time I would allow a player to controll another player character was with both their concent and my own.

Yeah, here it is:

As for pulling stuff out of your ass: There are a few no brainers that i think are applied to every IC post on the sight. No killing Player characters with out the player concent, no taking over someone's character without their concent (and a note left for me in the ooc zone would be nice too). As for other things, feel free to make up some NPCs to amuse yourself and others, but nothing to serious. If anything would really effect the flow of gameplay, run it through me and the ooc board. I have a feeling I'm gunna be pretty lenient about stuff though.

There are other ways of handling it without taking over someone's character. A couple things... running your post through a spelling and grammar check may not be a bad idea. I've corrected the things I noticed below. And add some description to your posts! Makes them more enjoyable to read, and also tells us more about your character. Describe what he is wearing, what he is doing aside from standing there talking, and what he is thinking.

Also... Leah's nickname, Leroy, has as yet not been used, so it is doubtful that you would know it off-hand. Leah is also not the one in charge, Set is. Lastly, there has been no indication that the crew of the Boshi are unpopular with the Alliance. In fact, up until now, they've stayed out of their way. This is about to change, though.

Here's an example of how your post could have been rewritten to still get the point across, but without breaking the general rules of roleplaying (without taking the Alliance bit out, though you might want to redo that as well). I've also not included much in the way of description, as I did this rather quickly, but this would flesh out the piece a little as well.

Standing back as he had been, Ian realised that somehow he had not been noticed by any of the people outside the ship, or perhaps, he thought, he being ignored. Ian made his way over to the two women, addressing the taller of the two, who still stood with her arms crossed, but now with one of the twin engineers behind her.

"Excuse me," Ian spoke up. "I would like to join your crew, as security, you may need it." Thinking that this alone may give the woman cause for curiousity, he added "I know you're not, how should I put it, popular with the alliance. Neither am I. I think we could help each other, what do you say?"

Hey Animus- you still out there? It's your time to shine!

11/17/2006 5:03 AM

right edited it, sorry, nopt really been with it past few days, so wasn't really concentrating.

11/17/2006 8:04 AM

*nods* thank you. Avoid similar slipups in the future, if you could. Also, the longer the post the better. Try and react to everything going on around you, as well as sharing your character's thoughts about whats going on. the other characters may not be able to read your thoughts, but it helps the other players get a better feel for your character. It's also more interesting to read, which is the main point of something like this.

11/19/2006 10:28 AM

You know, I check the "Who's Online?" link every so often, and Animus hasn't shown up on the day's logins for awhile, so something might be going on with him. I think maybe we ought to try and work around him until he comes back so that we're not waiting if he's gone for a long time. He can always catch up with us later if he wants.

11/19/2006 1:37 PM

Yeah... was kind of wondering where he was.. that was why I posted like I did, hoping to draw him out of the woodwork. But if he's not even showing up on site... :S

11/19/2006 2:23 PM

I'll see if he appears on other website, he may have problems with internet.

11/20/2006 5:06 PM

Sorry, had a few RL issues slowuing down now. I started A Band, lot of Essays had to be finished and It was my Birthday so I had to deal with my family and stuff I am back now.

11/20/2006 6:05 PM

No worries, hun. Glad to see you back. :) Soon as someone makes a reply, I'll respond to ya. :)

11/20/2006 7:57 PM

Hey, i know how that can be. I'm expecting it to slow down on site for everyone over the holiday season. Not that I'm doing too much more than 'life as usual' but the folks think they can manage a trip to vegas for a weekend. Wonder if I'm old enough to play yet?

Anyway, that'd only be a few days, but whatever. Glad to see you're still alive. Hard to tell over the net if life got in the way...or just ended.

Enough with my depressed thoughts before i drag myself down.

OK, gunna stop typing now...

11/21/2006 8:05 AM

I will actually prolly pick it up in the Holiday season. Umm if I died or something like that happened I would ensure to get a message to every RP site I am on, even in my death bed.

11/21/2006 8:10 PM

Sorry set's being a prick to you animus, but mal's last post got her all riled up.

And airiana, I'm assuming set and leroy have known each other long enough to pick up 'situation faces'

anyone who's ever had a good friend learns situation faces. my favorite is the 'dear god hide me from the person aproaching' always funny. especially when it's impossible to avoid the person aproaching.

And wee! we get to go inside Boshi now!

11/22/2006 1:56 PM

Yeah, I would assume the same. Situation faces get picked up on rather quickly, I think. Oh, and since we're inside now... I have the schematics for Firefly class ships. Do you want me to post a link to it?

11/22/2006 5:49 PM

I have to ensure everyone is clear on one thing. Yes my character is a smuggler and lies about his credentials. However he is not at all a malevolent force or as decietful as some of these others. He was forced into smugglingto survive, he is an amazing pilot, hence why he is wanted, and he holds the same hate or distrust for the alliance as you. He lies only because it is his only chance on the ship he believes.

Oh, we know that dear! But as of yet, Set and Leroy, on the other hand, do not.

11/22/2006 6:28 PM

I understand I just wanted to ensure everyone knew here that I am trying to convey a gentler character than others. Just so people don't get the wrong vibes from me when I post.

11/23/2006 8:53 AM

it's all good. Set's not particularly fond of any of the new crew right off the bat, but she understands the necessity of lying. Once she figures out what the hell is going on with everyone she'll be a lot nicer.

11/23/2006 8:05 PM

Wow, animus, you don't like us at all, do you? "gentler character" "not as deceitful as some"? :D It's like you're trying to say something about our little harmless play acting....

11/24/2006 1:09 AM

yeah, Ian's not decietful, just very cautious :) I am deeply offended lol

11/24/2006 8:59 AM

Now Now, children. Play Nice. XP

I'm gunna wait for leroy to get a word in. Family comes before this little timesink, and 'tis the season of family get togethers.

No matter how creepy some of them are.

11/24/2006 12:15 PM

Gah... sorry 'bout the delay. Wanted to see/hear the twin's input before I responded, and then family craziness took over. Damned Turkey Day and relatives that you (thankfully) don't see very often! Anywho, back now and post made. :)

11/25/2006 1:52 PM

No stabs your characters just have an obviously more darker method and intent than mine. Not that smuggling is good, hahaha.

11/26/2006 6:27 PM

Change the UK to Lundinium (I think that's how they spell it) and all's well. That was the planet settled almost exclusively by Americans, mainly of british (I assume) background. he could be genetically british, but with so much time having passed interbreeding would sort of...make someone like that hard to find. but hard to find is better than completely impossible.

Oh, and try to 'look for reactions' rather than 'see someone reacthing this way'

[Edited by setsuai_kijo on Sunday, November 26, 2006 6:58 PM]

11/26/2006 10:31 PM

Sooooo... this is going well. Anybody got thoughts on how to get out of this one with everyone on the crew, or did we go past that point?

11/27/2006 8:00 AM

once the mutual blackmail info session is over, set will be content to let everyone stay on for the time being.

11/27/2006 8:56 AM

I'm not sure I can speak for Shin, but Min really isn't going to be comfortable with what is by all appearances an unballanced ruthless killer from a corrupt government gone rogue. It's not really all the helpful to be much smarter than someone who's heavily armed and has a hair trigger. It kind of looks like it might work out best for the sake of the game if we were forced to take off without anyone having a chance to get off first.

11/27/2006 9:41 AM

Don't worry, Shin agrees, though probably in more of a "throw a bomb and run away in the confusion" way. Particularly since he expects Ian will react badly to being threatened with a sharp object and would like to get out of the line of fire. In fact, if Ian does react violently, that's probably what I'll do. Action! Excitement!

As to the solution, well... since all of us crew newbs are being pursued by SOMEONE, being forced to take off shouldn't be hard to accomplish.

[Edited by narcissuspool on Monday, November 27, 2006 9:42 AM]

11/27/2006 1:27 PM

..........goodness. See, Ian, it's crazy responses like that that just don't inspire confidence.

11/27/2006 5:14 PM

Depending on Set's response, bomb-throwing is still on the table. :)

11/27/2006 7:52 PM

Taking off in a hurry might be an idea. And she definately would not apreciate you blowing up stuff inside the Boshi. So no bombs, for now.

And no, I'm not quite sure what's gotten into Set either. Heh...she's kinda stressed out about this whole recrewing thing, and the crazies who showed up aren't making her life any easier.

Hmm, but what could force us to take off? any specific suggestions?

11/27/2006 8:02 PM

alliance having been radioed comes to mind. As does a reaver attack. Reaver attack might actually be better. In fact, all this commotion could have caused us to miss the warning signs, and it might be a chance for our master at arms characters to prove how badass they are (and that we can maybe even trust them) by taking one or two down.

11/27/2006 8:05 PM

I have a suggestion, which you can feel free to pick apart. I know I only talk about how the twins are involved in this, but I wouldn't feel comfortable speaking for the rest of you so you can jump in with how your characters contribute.

As soon as Set reveals that she plans to use the Boshi to rebel against the alliance, that's going to be the dealbreaker for the twins. Shin will throw a bomb--how about a no-damage smoke bomb? :) --and he and Min will run like hell for the cargo bay (the rest of you can give chase, or fight amongst yourselves in the chaos, whatever's appropriate). They can wire the door to let themselves out, only when the door opens they come face to face with... who? I don't know. A group of alliance people after somebody.

[Edited by narcissuspool on Monday, November 27, 2006 8:30 PM]

11/28/2006 11:27 AM

I think maybe, if my opinion is wanted, that an attack by the alliance happens, yet at the same time so to do the reavers, hence we are caught in the middle, and may i inform the good doctor that Ian is not a lunatic, merely misunderstood, i mean the captain ain't making it easy for him, but i suppose neither is he making it easy for her, hmm mutual difficulties.

11/28/2006 2:20 PM

I think you have to understand that Ian has given us no reason to believe he isn't a lunatic, but lots of reason to believe he is, for example:

-Responding cryptically or nonsensically to direct questions
-carrying a giant sword around
-intimating that he had been killing people since age 8
-chortling at the threat of dismemberment.
-Saying he's called the alliance as an act of good faith and then saying he's on the run from them.

It's very easy to be misunderstood when one behaves like that. It makes other people see you as a threat, and in general folk aren't comfortable being threatened.

11/28/2006 6:00 PM

My only-recently-acquainted-with-Firefly opinion is that a reaver attack would be unlikely near Persephone.

11/28/2006 7:22 PM

Yeah... Persephone is far enough away from the edge that a Reaver attack would be highly unlikely here. Better for it to be Alliance coming knocking at the door.

And Mablung, a couple things... firstly, Leah has a lot of reasons to presume Ian crazy at the moment, as do the rest of the characters aboard the Boshí. This may very well not be the case, but you've definitely given them enough reason to believe this to be so, as has already been pointed out.

Secondly, Leah was not upset, she was pissed off. And as far as she's concerned, the Hippocratic Oath only applies to matters of medicine. She'd have no problem blowing your brains out if it was something she deemed necessary. Harming someone that she feels close to is enough to count it as necessary for her. If, however, you were on her operating table, she'd do everything in her power to save you. That's just how she is.

Just thought I'd put those things out there.

True, narcissus. Persephone is FAR too close to the center of the 'verse. Reavers (and miranda) are way out west of nowhere. Persophone is actually run by the Alliance still, but big brother doesn't keep a horribly close eye on it. It's my understanding that it's at the edge where true alliance control fades into alliance-paid gunslingers keeping the peace.

This being as it is, a full force alliance sweep wouldn't be unheard of, but would definately be uncommon enough that no one worries about it untill it's happening.

And as for a reason, well, Ian or perhaps even Kyp would be a good enough reason. Although chances are Set will assume she's the intended target, freak a bit, and attempt to book it out of there.

And les, I think you mean insinuating, not intimating. not that I'm spelling it right, probably.

11/28/2006 8:00 PM

Oh yeah and Mablung! Next time make sure you wait! There should be three different people posting between yours, not just one!

11/28/2006 8:14 PM

And les, I think you mean insinuating, not intimating

It's possible. I say a lot of things :D I think intimating was pretty close, though.

Much as I think a Reaver attack would be the coolest and least incriminating, I do have to agree it's pretty close to the center for it.

There's always bombs. Terrorist bombs! Big gobs of fire terrorist bombs. Enough that the ship needs to take off... hmm... which actually is not so likely since it can make atmosphere entry, but still! Falling structures! Shrapnel! Imagine the horrible shrapnel if a docked ship were to explode near us. We would have to get out.

The bad side of the side Set is heading towards. Slaughter and mayhem in the name of taking down the alliance.

And of course that would mean the alliance would be after any ship that was leaving the planet there and then. So we'd have the "on the run" thing keeping us from killing each other. Those of us that aren't crazy.

Speaking of crazy, where's Animus? He hasn't been logged on in a couple of days.

11/28/2006 8:16 PM

Since "intimating" means "hinting," it's appropriate.

Also, Kyp already mentioned in the RP that there's a mug shot of him being circulated, so it would make sense that someone would have spotted him and pointed out the ship he got onto.

11/29/2006 10:40 AM

Ok, read the text properly, Ian didn't radio the alliance, he saw a 'spotter' or 'dicker' depending where your from, these people follow others and relay whereabouts, ian did not radio them, also maybe this is true that he appears a lunatic, but lets be there, the captain gave him no options other than to force his way on to the ship and actually the hippocratic oath states that a doctor should never kill, unless his/her life is in danger, not someone else's so unless she is another harold shipman i doubt she would kill ian, as he has drawn no weapon, merely placed the captain's hand back to her side.

11/29/2006 2:55 PM

Yeah... was about to point out that Ian didn't call the Alliance, that he just made mention of it. But other than that...

the hippocratic oath states that a doctor should never kill, unless his/her life is in danger, not someone else's so unless she is another harold shipman i doubt she would kill ian, as he has drawn no weapon, merely placed the captain's hand back to her side.

... Not so much, actually. "Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God." This is the actual text from the modern version of the Hippocratic Oath. So yeah, it says not to play at being God, but then, that can apply to keeping people alive as well as killing someone. Basically, it just says to use caution and to actually think.

But anywho... *looks at giant pile of homework mournfully and sighs* Time to get back to work. Want setsuai to have a chance to respond before I do again anyways.

11/29/2006 4:19 PM

By the by, Airiana, thanks for posting that layout for the Firefly. That's going to be very helpful.

11/29/2006 4:45 PM

No problem, NP :) Figured everyone else should benefit from it too. :)

11/30/2006 7:32 PM

Consider yourselves lucky. This is the first page-based RPG that's survived a reincarnation of my Sims addiction. I went out and spent some of my holiday money on Sims 2 University, the only one of the expantions I didn't already own. Between that and cleaning and holiday shoping season crazyness, I realize that...

Although there might be a slight delay in my postings. Anyway, yay for RP!

12/07/2006 7:31 PM

Hmm, shooting an Alliance grunt. Maybe for the general good we should have a crash course on Alliance policy for those who haven't seen the show. Like the fact that they aren't actually murderous and won't kill without provocation in a public place. For example, the obligatory "you are bound by law to stand down" phrase.

12/07/2006 8:09 PM

If it's law enforcement that we have knocking at our door, then that is true. And also the weapons they carry around are non-lethal.. such as the [url:http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/SonicRifles]sonic rifle. But as far as soldiers, I don't recollect a whole helluva lot about them basically pulling the "stop or I'll shoot" line. If someone's under arrest for some crime or another, they'd use that phrase, but otherwise... I do believe it's shoot first, ask questions later.

Here's a list of weapons known to exist in the Firefly 'verse, by the way... [url:http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/Weapons]Clicky.

12/07/2006 8:11 PM

That is true... I had assumed they were law enforcement.

12/07/2006 8:46 PM

they look to be your normal law enforcement, but looks can be decieving. And consider that big gun they've set up for us, and the ship waiting to shoot us out of the sky. Not the usual police-type reinforcements

12/08/2006 1:02 AM

Hey i think i should clear this mess up, MP is a military term meaning military policeman, these are basically law enforcement for the forces, they follow military rules get given the same equipment but have no jurisdiction in normal law, In some films/games MP's are also like Judges (Judge Dredd judges) meaning that in keeping the peace they shoot to kill.

Ian was getting fed up of people speaking different languages other than common, as if they thought he didn't know what they meant, of course he was going to know what they meant he hadn't just been trained how to kill, he had been an expert at escape and evasion, including fitting into a set society.

Oy... Mahblung, have you never watched Firefly or Serenity? Everyone in the Firefly 'Verse speaks both English and Chinese (Mandarin dialect). The premise is that towards the end of Earth That Was, America and China were the only two superpowers and basically the ones that took over, so they were the ones that ended up colonizing all of known space. Thus everyone is basically fluent in both languages. They use them interchangeably and often mix them as you may have noticed Leah doing throughout the thread.

(Set just isn't overly fond of Chinese, so she sticks to English. Mainly because I'm to lazy to look up good insults)

Lazy! Just look towards the bottom of the second OOC page for a pretty big list of 'em! :P

12/12/2006 8:55 PM

Iiiiiiiiii know where a few of the episodes of Firefly can be found online for free. If there's interest. Sadly the list I've found does not include the pilot and only goes as far as "Ariel," but it should be enough to give non-fans exposure to the world.

12/13/2006 12:58 AM

No i haven't ever watched it, i did say this at beginning.

12/13/2006 9:37 AM

Ooo... sorry, hun. I knew someone hadn't, but for some reason I was thinking it was one of the twins, not you. I used to know of a place where you could watch all the episodes online. I'll see if I can hunt the link down again for ya.

12/13/2006 7:25 PM

You were right, I hadn't seen it when the RP started. However, ebay has provided me with enlightenment.

If Airiana can't find her link, here's mine (though like I said, it doesn't have all the episodes):

12/14/2006 10:24 AM

thank you, i shall watch it if and when i have time (am being kinda cautioned by military at moment, so have loads of paperwork to try and prove my innocence.

12/20/2006 11:00 AM

Sorry to have been a bit out of commission- I think we should institute a rule where if no one posts for say three days, the rest can just skip him or Set (as our GM (or someone else if they designate)) can move their character as needed. Do folk agree?

12/20/2006 2:40 PM

I agree. Sorry Guys for my lack luster prefromance

12/21/2006 2:29 PM

Sounds fine to me. Oh just as an aside... Setsuai hun, you may need to control Leroy for a while. I'm leaving tomorrow for NY and will be traveling to Omaha after that. Suffice it to say, I will be gone until roughly the middle of January. I will try to check in, but I make no promises.

01/20/2007 10:39 AM

Sorry for disappearing off the face of the internet. My friggin home internet STILL isn't working, but college is starting back up monday. I'm there 5 days a week this semester, so I should be able to keep up. I've gotta run for now, but I should post monday.

01/23/2007 8:53 AM

is this thing still alive?

01/26/2007 1:45 PM

I hope it is. I would very much like it to not be dead. Life has finally just settled back into some semblance of normality for me.

01/28/2007 7:37 PM

so that's everybody but the doctor back in huh?

02/03/2007 1:01 AM

Eee... sorry 'bout that, guys. Been extremely busy ever since I got back from vacation.

02/03/2007 7:16 PM

Welcome back! Weee!

Ah-hem. Yeah. anyway, it hasn't gone all that far, seeing as I sort of disappeared the same time you did. hopefully it will pick back up again...any day now. I hope. >_>

02/06/2007 8:54 PM

I think maybe to make sure the ball stays rolling we ought to perhaps decrease the number of posts that need to come before you post again? Nothing dramatic- like maybe just from three to two- until this thing gets back going?

02/06/2007 8:58 PM

I would be in favor of revoking the limit, at least for the time being, since we seem to have people gone for long stretches of time lately.

02/07/2007 8:43 AM

sorry, yeah. decent idea, but do be reasonable about it.

02/07/2007 3:20 PM

Oh, dear. The suggestion wasn't there so that WE could post more, it was there so that everyone ELSE could respond in kind without waiting for other people to chime in. ;)

02/07/2007 3:29 PM

sorry. did that in class. haven't had a chance to make my own post yet.

02/07/2007 3:32 PM

Oh that's all cool, I was just making sure there wasn't a misunderstanding.

02/15/2007 10:06 AM

Ok I was looking for FireFly RPG as the one i started on www.fireflyfans.net is going no where fast...

I was wondering if it was too late to join... if not

The links for story is

Character name; Luna-Maria Hawk (this is her third RPG)
Nickname; (Wolf calls her little miss, but Captain or Luna)
Ethnic Appearance: Caucasian-Chinese
Hair colour; Reddy Burgundy
Eye colour; Sky blue
Age; 18
Build; Slender, 5"6
Usual Clothing; Burgundy uniform with black trousers or skirt
Alignment; Pirates
Ship name; Zefie
Character Weapon; ZLR Compressed shotgun and Custom pistol
Ship main weapon; Gattling cannon
Ship secondary weapon; EMP, Boarding cutters, Torpedoes
Ship type; Cruiser

Was born in space, the daughter of a merchant she was destined to continue to family business. Fate took it course and by the time she was Sixteen both her parents were dead. She took the ship that was left to her and just wanted to get away from it all.

When she was seventeen she saved a pirate captain in a gunfight and he offered for her to join him. She did but at heart she wasn't a pirate and after six months they spilt and the Zefie and her crew started looking for other work, but there is not other work for pirates.

She still makes a living by taking from those weaker and does a good job of it. Is her crew getting fed up with having a yellow-bellied captain?

Recently Luna has been chased by the Alliance, nearly recruited by a browncoat supporter before the alliance turned up and killed that money. Now they are looking for new crew before going after bigger targets. Cash in hand Luna becoming quite well known on Kresh (Pirate base on an asteroid) in the open sector not to far from the core.

The ship used to be used by the military to transport cargo but after being decommissioned and brought by a merchant be became a family home. The ship was a frequent sight in the inner planets, it ran jobs for the upper classes and the owner was making a fortune but never even thought about leaving his ship for a manor or floating island.

The ship has been retrofitted to loot wrecks and other ships, fast and expert at ambushes the ZEFIE rarely kills. (If you kill the ships they can't come back with more stuff later)

The crack motley crew

Captain Luna-maria Hawk
2nd Fry Richter
3rd Camden Pratt
Navigator Wolf Cox
Medic 1 Roxy Griffis
Medic 2 Duke Koster
Cook Rena Spring
Gunhand 1 Freddy Welty
Gunhand 2 Stacia Woollard
Gunhand 3 Woody Winton
Mechanic Hope Enderly
Random girl Alexus Ray

Motley huh?

To add from the last RPG Luna was/ is in her crew has just got hold of a second ship...

(The Aura)

as of last check the crew were;

Navigator Wolf Cox
Mechanic Hope Enderly
Medic 1 Roxy Griffis
Gunhand 3 Woody Winton

The Aura was built by Freeport Space Industries to acompany the Icona, the ship was taken by pirates from the Zefie and aid used to escape of both ships.

I know you said Single people for a crew but Luna just would fit in and i would so love to save my crew, if theres a run on an Allience ship then I could be a load of help...

If you really don't want this type of add then i can change it just let me know, is this thing still living

You know, I don't care who you are or what you want to do, I just think we need some new blood in here. :)

02/16/2007 3:14 PM

New Blood? What about some Old Blood new to the thread?

02/16/2007 3:18 PM

Any blood will do, as we appear to be frozen.

02/16/2007 3:21 PM

Ah that happens to the best of threads here. I'll go back through and read the tale and then post a character.

02/17/2007 10:48 AM

I don't mind jumping right in but I would like to clear, do I need permission or not?

02/17/2007 10:56 AM

If you're going to be bringing in a whole new crew, I would say yeah, probably. But Set hasn't logged in to the site for awhile that I've seen, so who knows.

Aussie boy! :D:D:D

02/18/2007 2:38 AM

Yes Sparky rumours of my demise have greatly been exaggerated... *grins mischieviously*

*hugs* how ya doin?

02/18/2007 2:55 PM

Glad to hear it! Missed ya, hun. *Hugs* I'm doing great. Next to no time to myself, but I'm good. :D I'd love to have you RPing in here with me... I miss our old Firefly thread!

02/19/2007 7:08 PM

At this point, maybe we should cut our losses and start over.

02/20/2007 4:28 AM

With so many folks not responding its probably a good idea...

02/20/2007 5:06 AM

I wouldn't mind starting a new thread, if that's what the folks who are here want.

02/20/2007 5:19 AM

Yeah... sounds like a good idea. I'm gonna mail setsuai and let her know.

02/20/2007 5:43 AM

Okay. This afternoon when I get off work, it shall be done.

You veteran types have any suggestions for plot direction or anything?

02/20/2007 6:23 AM

You veteran types have any suggestions for plot direction or anything?

Meh... I know I don't... I'd just be happy with a Firefly-themed thread that stayed in the air! :P So unless Aussie boy has something up his sleeve...

02/20/2007 11:55 AM

Sleeves? Whate the hell are thos---Oh right! You don't seem to recall that most Aussies (especially the rare Cave-Victorian like myself) only wear a loincloth and wrestle crocodiles to get to work each morning right?

Anyway, I am fine with the traditional style thread myself. Y'know the crappy transport, the extended family crew, a crazy russian crimelord named Nishka and the merry and sadistic hijinx that follow... ;)

02/20/2007 1:48 PM

If this one works I'll get on from the ground floor... I kind of missed it last time...

02/20/2007 2:37 PM

I'm cool with starting over. Does this mean we ought to tell them what we were going to do to them?
