Name: Ravel Vhilkote
Race: Human
Class: Alchemist, technomancer
Demeanor: Cowardly, Laid back
Hair: Brown mullet
Eyes: Night-black
Height: 5'9
Weight: 147.4

Weapons: Pistol, assorted bullets, Alchemist's Fire, Alchemist's Ice, smokestick, sunrod

Equipment: Alchemist's lab, varying potions (unidentifiable), Whiteguard's research tome

History: Orphaned at infancy, Ravel grew up underfoot of the adults of the village with the other village orphans, getting himself into all sorts of mischief. Had he not been so hungry, he would have looked back upon those days as better ones.

It was during one of those bouts of mischief that Ravel met his future mentor, Whiteguard. After sneaking into the mage's house on a dare (initiated by the Ravenwind twins) and hoping to find a few trinkets to swap for steel or food. However, trinkets and food became a second thought when he found the mage on the floor, froth dribbling from his mouth.

The mage should have by all rights died that day, a fact that the saved mage would constantly tell Ravel as he slapped the boy's back. This was also a fact that Ravel sometimes wished was true during his days as apprentice to the town's "mad old bat."

*Post-Dragon attack update*

Ravel was shaken to the core over his mentor's seemingly fruitless death. The man, for all his ambition, left nothing on Krynn save a large greasy burn spot where his hut once was, and the few remaining items in Ravel's possession. Distraught and angry over his surrogate father's decision, Ravel's mind began to open towards the rest of Krynn and the obsession for knowledge and fame that had so riddled Whiteguard before him.

His thoughts turn toward Palanthas, where he will be able to enter Alchemy research in earnest, provided that he gains the funds. He plans to leave after he has made sure of the safety of what few remaining friends he has left after the dragon's attack are ensured.
(Player's note: Truth be told, he's just afraid that he will be made a scapegoat for the day's happenings and plans to make a quick getaway while he can.)

*Whiteguard's tome
The old renegade mage was not renegade for no reason. Ravel's study of the old mage's tome has revealed that it was not Whiteguard's originally, but a tome dating since before the Cataclysm, passed down through master to apprentice of alchemical arts. However, much of the text is, at the moment, indecipherable to Ravel it is written in a mix of the magical language and code. However, some parts, such as many of Whiteguard's notes, have given Ravel clues as to how to decipher the next part of the code, just as, Ravel assumes, Whiteguard's master had done for him. Ravel also assumes that the codes and the secrecy was left in order to hide the deeper aspects of alchemy and that more tomes may have survived the cataclysm.

Ravel's focus has changed to Haven, where he plans to make a bit of money with his alchemical potions before changing his focus back in search of the knowledge he now knows to look for.

Name: Jon Ravenwind
Race: Human
Class: Farmer
Alignment: true neutral
Demeanor: laid-back, relaxed, reserved
Physical Description: Jon is of average height (5'10") and weight (185lbs). He has light brown hair and hazel (green/brown) eyes. He keeps his hair cut short so it won't interfere when he's outside working the farm. He wears good, stout working clothes. He is 18 years old, and Suri and Darlan's younger brother.
Weapons: none, unless a pitchfork and hoe count
Personality: Jon's never really had much ambition. Take over the family farm, since both Suri and Darlan seemed interested in other things. He's always been rooted in reality, taking things as they come. Never one to dream, he looks at things and picks the most logical choice. The girls have always called him bland and boring, so he doesn't have anyone lined up for marriage. He doesn't let that bother him much, though, saying that a wife and kids are as much a bother as a blessing.

If you don't want me playing as Suri's sibling, I can change that over to a neighbour or something.

(i have surgery, so I'll be hospitalized without a comp for a while).

Sorry to hear that. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

07/25/2006 12:45 PM

08/02/2006 8:56 AM

go ahead and jump in :D

08/03/2006 5:28 PM

just a side note, saving "Darlan" from the collapsing building will prove useless... I want him to die in the Inn... it's somehting that will spur Suri onto her 'adventure'

08/05/2006 5:34 AM

Although i'm almost tempted to ask why you put quotes around Darlan's name, I'll refrain and instead ask the whereabouts of this small forested town. Somewhere near Solace?

08/05/2006 1:22 PM

I believe that it is about a two day ride North of Haven. (which is of course north-ish of Solace)

Name: Harpyn 'Kender-mage' Bubblesqueek
Race: Kender
Class: Wizard of The White Robes
Alignment: Neutral Good
Demeanor: Totally hopeless!
Hair: Typical top-knot, black
Eyes: Green
Height: 4'2
Weight: 80lbs
Age: 26

Weapons: Assortment of scrolls, minor magical objects, spellbook and a small dagger

A Kender-mage? Surely the gods of magic have cast aside all sanity? What god of madness would allow kender the gift of magic? Solinari, despite all her wisdom and power must be suffering from some malady?

Such were the shouts of outrage and simple shock as a young kender entered the Hall of Mages for the first time, just before his Test. Those of the Black Robes all stood and thundered in protest, those of the Red remained seated and subdued, yet still voiced their concerns in admitting a Kender into their Order. Those of the White all wore small and secretive grins as though they were in on their silver gods' private joke. Par-Salian had stood and glanced to the black robes, the red, and all feeling the indignant anger of the Head of the Order, fell silent though restless.

" Who are we to question the methods of our Gods? The Silver Moon has deemed this young Kenderkin worthy to take the test... all have heard of his talent for sorcery, none can deny Harpyn Spellheart this. ", his penetrating blue eyes fixed on Harpyn and the young apprentice thought he would keel over with anxiety, yet still his natural kender instinct kept him on his toes, watching all of this with wide eyed wonder. A hundred.... no a thousand! questions whirlled in his head, and with every ounce of will he bit his lips and remained silent. " He will be allowed to take the Test. Knowning that failure is death. Surely that will do nothing to deter him however. ", Par-Salian wore a small smile on his lips, all knew of his fondness of the Kender race and the fact one of them was about to rise into the ranks of the Wizard, filled the old but powerful mage with excitement and humble thanks.

" Go forth, young mage, and take your test. "

Gesturing, a door to his right opened and a white light filled it. Gulping audibly, Harpyn started to walk, finding it odd that his legs seemed not to be working correctly. With some effort, he made it through the door.... and his small world changed forever.

The Test changed the kender and all know that it is not something attributed to Kender...change. Harpyn will never speak of it and although he is subjects to bouts of curiosity and the ever infamous Wanderlust, the new wizard of the white robes became that much more serious, more so than his kind used to think of him. Drawn to objects as all kender, he rarely aquired them after studying them, finding that his magical implements were of more interest, his books and scrolls glittered with more light that any bauble ever did.

Now....plagued by wanderlust.... Harpyn finds himself roaming Krynn as many kender do, but with a higher chance of survival. His fiery spells have fended off more than one vagabond thinking the kender was an easy target. Always confused with finding a Kender dressed in the robes of mage, they always believe him to be playing some stupid game. Yet his game of play-wizard was more real than they bargained for.

An effective wizard, Harpyn can sometimes forget the right words....or the proper inflection. His spells have a tendency to go awry, but he always manages to set things right.....well....usually!

OOC: Let me know what you think Heather. Don't want to just jump in ;)

08/06/2006 2:44 PM

sounds like this could be interesting... go ahead D_M...You know you're more than welcome :) *Hug*

08/06/2006 6:11 PM

RenegadeIrishman...This is the War of the Lance. This means a couple of things:

1. Knights are not highly respected and are usually greeted with suspicion wherever they go. Your character only has yet to experience this because you came in a time of need.

2. Dragons had been, until recently, mythological creatures to scare children. Most folk, except mages and the like, didn't even know they existed until Takhisis decided to go full frontal with her dragons.

3. If dragons are creatures of legend, then dragonlances are weapons of myth. I find it highly doubtful that a knight with an ambition to rise within the ranks of the Solamnic heirarchy would be looking for a weapon in fable. Sturm...was a singular case, I think.

Anyway, they're just points to consider.

08/06/2006 7:27 PM

the story for me is that hes a young knight that has some poweful enemies, and he was sent on a "fools errand" because the knights of solamnia, as I understand are fighting takhisis and therefore know of the dragons. I could be wrong as its been a long time since i read any dragonlance and the last one i read was Dragons of Winter Night

08/07/2006 7:48 AM

Sorry if I took over the dragon too much Kalia! Thanks for letting me join in anyway hun.

08/07/2006 10:30 AM

Character sheet update- Dragon Aftermath

08/07/2006 11:06 AM

Nothing against you, personally, DM, by my character's wish for a building to fall on him. Jon dislikes kender as a general rule. He finds them to be rather annoying.

08/08/2006 8:06 AM

Well I'd like to say this, Bravo to all... too many times I've seen a thread where the main character is unconcious/ect... and the other players just seem to fall apart/away... you're working excellently together so far ;) Keep it up! Suri will be awake soon... :D

08/09/2006 6:51 PM

I think...all's up to you now, Kalia.

08/09/2006 7:39 PM

I think...all's up to you now, Kalia.

Unless our Kender mage pulls something out of his we-don't-wanna-know-where, I concur. ;)

08/09/2006 8:54 PM

Oh...and matches are a D&D Alchemy specialty. Let's be honest; Ravel couldn't light a fire with flint even if he had the best tinder in all of ansalon next to him.

08/10/2006 4:38 AM

I'm sorry but I had to do this:

08/10/2006 11:36 AM

That's cute, Dan. :)

08/10/2006 11:46 AM

Heh, gimme a break, it took me like 5 mins :p

08/10/2006 6:40 PM

For someone talented in the ways of artistic drawing, yeah. That would be simple. It's better than I could do, but I still think it's cute.

08/12/2006 3:13 PM

heh... I suppose I need to get a pic up of Suri soon huh?

Anyway, If anyone would care to control our little villian, the Red Dragon, they're more than welcome

08/18/2006 5:37 AM

Oh good, I was about to suggest a timeskip anyway.

08/30/2006 4:21 AM

I think it was about time to introduce Draconians anyway. Perhaps we can be there during their conquest of Haven? I dunno. I'm just anticipating the great bigger picture here, Kalia :p

Oh, and I've updated Ravel's character sheet with information about Whiteguard's Tome, as it is a major moving plot for him.
