The other day I had a sudden urge to revive one of my old characters. I'm not nostalgic, but man i used to be... *stares off in the distance* Heh heh.

Laucian was originally created for Exile's "The Legacy" RP. We never did bring an end to that story, and it ended abruptly. So, Exile, Shal, or Damien, if any of you would like to join this thread, please do so. (Especially since I think it was my wild plot twists and absence that kinda' messed up the other thread.) However this RP will be more inclined towards Laucian's past and such, following shortly after "The Legacy".

ANYONE at all is welcome to join, and I will be throwing in explanations of what has happened to Laucian so don't worry about the storyline. Mmm... Nothing else I don't think. Feel free to ask any questions and... yeah!

Character Description.-
Name: Laucian
Age: 37
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Bard/Rogue
Weapon: Shortbow, rapier, and more knives than a dozen kitchens
Religion: None
Appearance: 6' tall; pale skin; long, dark brown hair tied at the back; dark eyes; mostly wearing light leather garments.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Equipment: Leather armor with an incredible amount of hidden pockets for the aforementioned knives, a quiver, a few arrows, a silver elven earing, and an enchanted gauntlet.
Background: Laucian was born in Cormyr. Since they had last met, Laucian has chosen the way of the outlaw. After an unfortunate incident with the law, he travelled West, to the coast. Often, he embarked on trips in infamous vessels with even more infamous sailors. He changed his songs from such that told of heroic deeds of kings to the tales of the death of tyrants. In fact, he has become quite the anarchist, believing that no one has any right to control the people. He is often cast out of towns for his controversial ideals. That is why he became involved with pirates. As for his past, little will Laucian accept of it, other than his mother's elven blood and his father's human flesh. Very recently Laucian lost his lover, Marie in a most curious accident at sea, which he managed to escape thanks to the ship's wizard, Garandos.

I've been reading the "Legacy" thread in the archives. It still exists, for anyone who may be interested, as I was.
I'll be curiously watching to see how this thread progresses. :)

I attempted to provide a link to the page but, it seems that, that's not possible.

Keep an eye out for me...I'll try to come up with something, if you can just mail me some info on the setting.

Nice to see some people showing interest. I'd be glad to give you more information; however, what did you mean by "the setting"? Forgotten Realms? or specifically as to Waterdeep? or did you mean on the storyline?

In case it wasn't specified before the RP is taking place in the port of Waterdeep (in Faerun), although it will likely move into the Sea of Swords early on. From there we'll see where the wind takes us ;) .

If you need info on the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, that's the Wizards of the Coast page. Yeah, yeah, I'll find something better soon.

And if you're wondering about the City of Splendours, here is some background info (default to wikipedia :D ). Please don't read that ENTIRE article, that would be foolishness.

I think that's all. If there are any more questions please do ask.

I meant both the setting AND storyline, and you seem to have covered the first thoroughly...

Well, Given the setting, time to revive an old pirate--er, privateer--character. *snicker snicker*

Name: Eduard Morgan
Age: 30
Race: Human
Class: Swashbuckler
Weapon: Rapier, Dagger, and 2 flintlock pistols.
Religion: Umberlee
Appearance: 5 feet, 7 inches.; tan, leathery skin; Shoulder-length, unkempt brown hair; Brown Eyes; Wears Leather boots, leather pants, a chain shirt concealed by a silk long sleeved shirt, a bandana and a tri-cornered leather hat.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Equipment:a compass, additional shot and powder for his pistols, cleaning equipment for his pistols, a flask of rum, a pipe and tobacco, tindertwigs, a spyglass, and a seemingly normal sea-chart.
Background: Eduard Morgan is an aging Swashbuckler who's been down on his luck. After a Mutany at sea, He managed to make it to Waterdeep with naught but his personal possessions. Ever the opportunist, Eduard is now looking for a ship to join and/or commandeer, so that hey may have his vengeance on his traitorous first mate, known to most as Jack Alman. Although Eduard has a set agenda, he's not closed to adventure along the way. Afterall, who is he to resist the call of Umberlee?

(edit)
Of course, I await your approval before making my debut post in the RPG section...

Very nice Mr. village idiot. Welcome aboard the ship. It'll be easy to have Laucian and Eduard join the same vessel. You seem to know your way around the Realms, how come I haven't seen you around here before?

As to the others, I'll be glad to see more characters, though hopefully players with some experience in the Realms. As to Laucian's story, he was first used for Exile's "The Legacy" (http://www.rpgconsortium.com/rpgforums/archives/index.cfm/t/255326-f3-p1.htm) RP some time ago, and i decided to continue it. He was born in Cormyr, son to a prominent Captain of the Purple Dragon Knights and an elf maiden. He was exiled from the kingdom on penalty of death, and he was glad to leave that "land of tiranny" as he calls it. Little more does Laucian accept about his past. As he travelled, he began to change his trade from songs to robberies. Eventually during Laucian's career in piracy he was caught by a pirate-hunting vessel "The Justice" and was allowed freedom if he would offer his services to the captain for a certain time. The ship along with the "Wave Dancer" were attacked ; Laucian managed to escape thanks to the ship's wizard but his lover, Marie did not. The ship has not yet returned to Waterdeep.

*Takes in deep breath.* That is more or less where we are now... Questions?

Character Description.-
Name: "Capitain" Claude DeFranz
Age: 30
Race: Human
Class: Thief/mage

Weapon: a dozen throwing knives, two half-length scimitars (thin bladed, not the wide, heavy ones), and a single broken wand
Religion: undisclosed

Appearance: 5'10" tall; pale skin; long, Stark white hair shaved closely below ear height all the way around; Bright blue eyes; dresses mostly in tight leathers covered with loose flowing folds of robe-cloth, cut in a fasion that allows free movement, but a wide, baggy appearance. Also takes great pride in his earrings of hooped gold and the torn captain's hat he wears.
Alignment: unlawful neutral

Equipment: Aforementioned weapons and clothing/armor, a flask of firewine, a small backpack filled with assorted plundered goods (mostly scrolls and money), two balls of wax, and a rather large piece of onyx resembling the shape of a vulture.

Background: Claude was born in a small town just outside of Waterdeep. Raised by poor farmers, he was considered their family's last hope for a better life. When his gift for magecraft was discovered, he traveled to Waterdeep in search of a wizard to teach him. Instead, he found a pirate named Custlar and the ship Umberlee's Breath. Piracy seemed the perfect way to bring his family riches so he accepted a position on the ship and upon earning his first share of the loot, he went home to give it to his mother. The town was gone, deserted completely. The loss of his family drove him so much further into the pirate's life that he eventually slew Custlar in his sleep and took over the ship some 10 winters later. Now he fancies himself a pirate and a captain and has forgotten much of his Gift save for basic cantrips and A HUGE array of parlor tricks. Dispite this, he is a formidible foe and an excellent swordsman.

Of course, if you approve, I will be acting under the assumption that Umberlee's Breath is docked in Waterdeep...

That will be grand. I will await for any other players interested before the ship disembarks.

Pearl, don't worry too much about the setting. As long as you have a basic knowledge of the Realms you're good to go.

Nice to see so many people showing interest.

I've never played in the Realms before so I really don't. Plus, I do own the book, and I couldn't live with myself if I missed something cool by not doing my research. ^.^

I'm a freak like that.

I hate to leave this thread now that it's gathering momentum, but unfortunately I have to be off to the dreaded land of Vancouver Island, where tourists ran abundant. I'm leaving monday morning or sunday night so this will be my last post for a week. I'll be back fully on the 29th or 30th. Until then you guys are on your own. If anyone wants to take over the DMing or you all want to handle it, you're welcome to do so, but I ask that your characters don't leave Waterdeep until I'm back. Again, I'm really sorry to leave this RP now, but I have to. Don't do anything you wouldn't wanna explain to the police. Until next week,
Mr. Bardy-Pants

Holy crap...something that fits my signature character's idiom! ....not to mention I'm listening to 'The Final Countdown' so this seems more dramatic than it really is.

Name: Marcus Nelson
Age: 24
Race: Human
Class: Bard/Fighter
Weapon: Smokepowder pistol, Greatspear, Longsword, His Bardic Spells
Religion: Faith in the Western Winds
Appearance: 5'11", favores tan and green clothes and hardened rawhide leather (Behaves like studded) wears a ridiculously wide brimmed green hat for seemingly no other reason than it makes people ask. Rakishly good looks, he has charmed more than one bar wench into a late night trist before hes called to sea again
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Equipment: Rawhide armor, Caltrops, a small flask of the strong liquor "Noble's Blood" (He calls it Liquid Courage), box of crossbow bolts, violin, and a box of holding destined to hold only cursed items
Background: Marcus Nelson was born and raised in the southern Sword Coast region. He learned to swim when he was very young, as his parents threw him into the ocean to see if he'd learn. He quickly became enamoured with the sea and its mysteries and began his sailing career as a stowaway aboard and elvish Wingship and was quickly ditched back in Waterdeep where he grew up on the docks. Several years past before he gained enough gold to purchase his own vessel, 'Agility', and for his twentieth birthday he began making her live up to the namesake. With his modifications, the sloop Agility is known as one of the fastest on the sea, and Marcus was given a medal for his privateering work in the Battle of Bloody Seas where he and his crew managed to run valuable supplies through the blockade of Baldur's gate and back multiple times. He has also managed to throw people off with his fasination with cursed items, having a box of holding dedicated to the purpose of holding them and only them. He only smiles and winks when asked about it, saying something about 'for the good of all'. He is currently docked in Waterdeep for resupply before he again tests where the winds may blow him.

I of course, await approval before invading your thread

I'll come back ASAP, but I need a new comp...I should have steady access for the next few weeks though, so if it doesn't pick up and the GM doesn't post...We'll go on without him and hope he comes back...I REALLY liked this one and now it's on life support...
